There was a latent period of silence. There was a latent period of silence. It truly jarred me.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I, for one, have to just come out right now and apologize for it because it would appear like I'm not excited to be here or I'm not present. This is the most excited I have been for an episode of Las Cotterises. And I shade all episodes because it's the beginning of something. It's the beginning of something. Las Cotterises has an announcement. Yes. We have a new favorite television show. We have a new favorite television show.
Starting point is 00:04:25 We have a new favorite television show. By the time this comes out, it will be out. I believe either right before the premiere date or right after. And we'll figure that out. But A, I'm excited to see you because I have not seen you in a fortnight. A fortnight. Last time I saw you was New Year's. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And you had a night. I did. You had such a night. It was the beginning of 2019 and you know I, after what I call a difficult 2018. Yes. I wanted to start 2019 off
Starting point is 00:04:53 in the right kind of way. Okay, I don't see, I don't fucking buy that thing anymore though. What don't you buy? That superstition of the way that you spend your New Year's is the way that the rest of your year pans out. You want to know why?
Starting point is 00:05:04 New Year's Eve 2017, so last New Year's's eve was the saddest i'd ever been ever you remember this uh and then i had a i had a good year that's insane that you say that i don't think you had if you look at 12 all the 12 months together i think you had half a good year and half a bad year sure but then like i mean if you just take the average, if you take the mean, then that is like a pretty decent year. I'm just saying I wasn't willing to play any chances with this. I needed New Year's Eve to be good because I am a superstitious bitch. Okay. And you know who made me that way?
Starting point is 00:05:37 Who? Katrina Rogers. Katrina Rogers. She has me not stepping on cracks. She has me not walking under ladders, hun. She has me, if I seeders, hun. She has me, if I see a black cat, we have like a negotiation and I'm like,
Starting point is 00:05:49 you stay there. I'm very superstitious. So this thing of like the way you start New Year's is the way your year will go. I'm willing to follow it through. And I had a fucking fantastic New Year's Eve,
Starting point is 00:06:00 did we not? We had so much fun. And then you left the next day to go be the belle of the ball. To go, right. Can I ask you the belle of the ball. To go write. Can I ask you a question about the Golden Globes? Yeah. Just before we get into the episode, I want to know.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Okay. What did it feel like when they said the best film of the year was Bohemian Rhapsody? What did it feel like in that room when they dared do this? I wasn't in the room. But I was, so all the writers were sort of tucked away in one of the cabana rooms that were just next to the ballroom. And all of us were just, I was literally. The shantytown that was the writers area.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Right, exactly. So Rami had just won his Golden Globe. And I just turned to someone. I turned to Josh Patton and I who's brilliant and he was the one who wrote the
Starting point is 00:06:48 he's so funny this is us masturbation joke do you know what I'm talking about yes that was him that was really good so I turned to him and I was like
Starting point is 00:06:54 god that movie just sucks and I was like lol at even being nominated like we're really gonna like we're really gonna reward a Bryan Singer movie this year. Fucked up.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Fucking insane. Terrible movie. Was written by a computer. I'm sorry if anyone listening had any connection to it. Mm-mm. Or worked on it or whatever.
Starting point is 00:07:13 And we have seen it. We have seen it. Truly, truly, truly, truly bad. And then it won. And, I mean, you can even tell when they accepted it
Starting point is 00:07:20 that, like, they didn't expect it. They didn't know what to say. Mm-mm. So it was just, the feeling in the room was nuts. We were all like, what?
Starting point is 00:07:28 I couldn't believe what I was watching. It was crazy. And so many of the wins were so good. And I thought the show was great. You guys did a great job. It was fun.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Putting it together. I give claps. It was fun. And so many of the wins in the first half were like, that's great. That's great.
Starting point is 00:07:39 And then it started to go cuckoo, mama. Anyway, but I'm very proud of you. Thank you. And this is my first time seeing you since all that
Starting point is 00:07:46 so I am excited to be here so for me to have that late moment of silence in the beginning when there's so much to discuss so much but I am so excited
Starting point is 00:07:54 for our guest oh because this is the lead actress of our new favorite show our new favorite show and we actually not only is this person going to be on
Starting point is 00:08:02 we're also going to have Drew Tarver on we're also going to have Brandon Scott Jones on we're also going to have Drew Tarver on. We're also going to have Brandon Scott Jones on. We're also going to have Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider on. We are doing a The Other Two event. Event. We did this with- We are putting our Las Coturizas muscle behind this.
Starting point is 00:08:15 We did this with Search Party in the off season. In the off season. But finally the stars aligned so that we're doing this right before the show starts so that you can watch. It's so good. It is so good. Now you have to wait until January 24th for the premiere so that you can watch. It's so good. It is so good. Now you have to wait till January 24th for the premiere of the other two.
Starting point is 00:08:28 And it's so good. And our guest today is, so we have this fun story of how we met, but I had just been- Can't wait to hear that. Just a crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy person for our guest. I stand our guest since, first time I ever saw her was on High Maintenance,
Starting point is 00:08:44 Lainey opposite Max and I, Max's character. But I just think she's so fucking cool. Yeah. And then the coolest, there's Sponagel put it on the table. Sponagel put it on the table. Can we say,
Starting point is 00:09:00 we can say this. And then, but meanwhile, she's like, she's, this is a fucking Broadway. Honey, come on, come on. And not everyone can stop, she's like, she's, this is a fucking Broadway. Honey. Come on.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Come on. And not everyone can stomp the boards. Not everyone can stomp the boards. She can. She. And then she is incredible. And the other two, I think this is incredible. I kept texting her the entire time that I was watching the screeners.
Starting point is 00:09:18 I was like, this is a star making turn. This is so fucking. I contacted Drew. I was like, a lot of people are going to feel very seen by this. Yes. Like I said to him, I was like, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:28 there was some special scenes in there that I was like, oh man, it's Chris and Sarah as well, but this is so exciting. It's so good. So we can't wait.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Let's just go ahead and say that our guest is Helena York. Hi Helena. Wow. We're applauding you. And she brought snacks.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Yeah, honestly, I've been sitting here listening to this just annoyed to not interject. I'm like, introduce me. We're sorry. We had to catch up.
Starting point is 00:09:55 We had to catch up and we have to get everything out there, which is all the gorgeous credits and all the gorgeous love. Yes. Wow, thank you so much. I mean,
Starting point is 00:10:04 can we, can we, can we just get this out of the way up top? Go ahead, bitch. I want, I know you want to say it. Are you?
Starting point is 00:10:10 No. Do you know what I'm going to talk about? The SoulCycle meeting? No. Oh, we can get to that. We need to know that. That's so good.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Helena, just describe very briefly what it was like playing Glinda in Wicked. Like I, I, I think you're the first Glinda I've ever met. And this is a huge moment for me. Yeah, I don't think I've met a Glinda. This is huge. I opened the second national tour as Glinda. And it was insane.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I mean, that's a behemoth of a show. And people were, especially at the time, because now a considerable amount of time has passed. Yeah. But like deeply attached to it and to those characters and to those women. Big time. And it spoke to so many people. And I was very young.
Starting point is 00:10:53 I was like 23, 24 when I did it. And we traveled the country. And people just went insane. And it was crazy also to do that number that she does, the popular number, because doing comedy is so awesome. So deeply awesome. But then to listen to 2,500 people and like a barn in Alabama laugh is one of the most extraordinary things I've ever experienced. And so, yeah. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Okay. Sorry. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I just. No, I have a question about it too. Go so, yeah. Oh my God. Okay. Sorry. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I just. No, I have a question about you. Go, you go. Is popular like the number you liked doing or did you, because my favorite is Thank Goodness. Oh, well, Thank Goodness.
Starting point is 00:11:33 I used to randomly, somebody else had to sing the high C for me because I was like, you know. On today. Because it's a high C. It's a high C and like, no. Not to jump it, but like, I don't think so, honey. So was there someone in the back that was just like, ah! Yeah, some girl in the front was like, yeah, I just opened my mouth.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yes. But yeah, you know, I used to get in a lot of trouble because I would have a little bit too much fun with popular and I did all sorts of crap. And I, you know. But it's popular though i know i mean so good i didn't give the people what they wanted i gave myself what i wanted you have to do that because how are you gonna know what they want so when you're doing a role like that which is like iconically done and i'm guessing this is how all replacement cast go but
Starting point is 00:12:22 they tell you kind of like this is what kristen chenoweth set like this is how all replacement cast go, but they tell you kind of like, this is what Kristen China with set. Like, this is what we do. Or do you give you like, it's a, you know, yeah, there's a formula that they want you to adhere to.
Starting point is 00:12:34 I think in a big way, I don't know how, how it's going over there now. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but yeah, yes.
Starting point is 00:12:41 You, you do Kristen, you do Kristen or, or you don't, you don't do Kristen. You do Kristen. Or you don't. You don't do Kristen. You do, because Kristen is, I mean, come on, is like in a league of her own. Nobody can do Kristen. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:54 But I think that there's certainly like a tone that they want to set with that character. And they're very protective of how those two women are perceived and how the relationship is told as a story. Right. So they get very specific about that because they know that I think, I think that audiences expect something. Right. I think that Glinda is not the better part, but the more interesting part,
Starting point is 00:13:16 because I think there's more shades to it. I think like that's where really like where all the acting happens. And like, I think like in more interesting songs. But wouldn't you say that about like any comedic character in stories that you love I actually would
Starting point is 00:13:28 yeah that like not to say that Elphaba doesn't have comedic moments but if you think about like the sidekick in any character like I can't believe
Starting point is 00:13:36 I'm thinking about this off the top of my head but like Simon Pegg in the Mission Impossible movies oh for sure like I don't know I kind of go to see him
Starting point is 00:13:44 yeah okay and he'd be the more fun one to play than the one that's like I'm taking the super serious right Impossible movies. Oh, for sure. I don't know. I kind of go to see him. Okay. And he'd be the more fun one to play than the one that's like, I'm taking the super serious. Right. Right, right, right. And Elphaba has her deadpan comedy moments, but it's about the... But Glinda is the one who's giving you just a broad and specific moment. But comedy
Starting point is 00:14:00 has the ability, and you guys know this as human beings, there's all these things made about comedians and comedy and, you know, that everybody who's a comedian needs to be like messed up in some way, which is so stupid. Right. But it is an opportunity to like shade nuance and show what life actually is because all we all do in our lives, like what anybody does is tell each other jokes and try to laugh all the time. So it's like to me, I don't know. Yeah. But don't get me wrong. I just finished Sharp Objects the other day and try to laugh all the time so it's like to me i don't know yeah but but don't
Starting point is 00:14:25 get me wrong i just finished sharp objects the other day and like i i can't it was so good wow i haven't seen it is there not a moment of levity in it is this kind of just dark the whole time i couldn't get past this second episode you know what i'm gonna go ahead and say no levity yeah that's fine that's a dark one and i was all right with it. Can I tell you what else I just finished which I'm obsessed with? Have you watched Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?
Starting point is 00:14:49 Yes. Obsessed. Here's the thing. I loved the first season. I loved the second season. Oh man. Sarah Schneider and I got in our like sweatpants
Starting point is 00:14:59 and sat on her couch because she had screeners and we watched it and we were like look what they're doing. Yes. This is amazing. they went to Paris yes and like
Starting point is 00:15:07 oh my god and the costumes and even there's that scene where she's walking through the apartment and the carpet is pink and she's like matched the coat and the lipstick to the actual environment just the way it looks the way she looks it's pristine the visuals are all the visuals are amazing and Rachel is amazing Rachel we have to get her on
Starting point is 00:15:23 I was watching it last night. I actually watched the finale of season two last night. And I was watching her just perform on the telethon that they have. Wasn't that a great? It was so good. And every episode has such great iconic scenes. So great. Like when they went to the whole Catskills thing.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Forget it. I was dying. My friend Brandon Uranowitz, who's a great actor, played the lead activities director in all of those things. Oh my gosh. And did the Simon Says moment and everything. Oh, that was him? Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:52 So funny. And they cast amazing New York actors in that show. It's such a pleasure. My favorite montage was when the parents are falling back in love. They go to Paris. I died for that. I literally, I was like, oh. I mean, to the point where they did two full died for that i literally i was like oh i mean to the point where they like did two full songs for that montage because it was so cute and great yeah
Starting point is 00:16:11 and shalhoub yeah shalhoub is i have a whole new respect and it's her name marin what the mother i'm so sorry she's amazing she's amazing i don't know her name but i was really impressed with her especially in the season like i really appreciated how impressed with her, especially in the second half. The two of them this season, I really appreciated how much more they used them in the second season as well. I thought they were so good. And you know who is just a legend?
Starting point is 00:16:34 Alex Porstein? Yes. Oh my God. I'm fully raving about this show. And then also Zachary Levi, a charm machine. Yeah. Just so good.
Starting point is 00:16:42 And Rachel is out of control. Good on that show. She is exceptional on it. Everything, like top to bottom. Yeah. Just like so good and Rachel is out of control good on that show. She is exceptional on it. Everything like top to bottom. Yeah. Even just the way that she wears those clothes.
Starting point is 00:16:53 I mean forget it. That's like such a silly small thing to say because she's giving such a wonderful performance but oh. She's of the period. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:17:00 Like you buy every single aspect of it. My thing is that I'm just in awe of the Sherman Palladino's. I'm just like, Oh, this is so tonally different from Gilmore girls,
Starting point is 00:17:09 but also there's also some sliver of like Venn diagram similarity. Definitely. Like it's, there's still that breathless quality about like her stuff. Yeah. But like, so like, so just her mind to go from like a mother-daughter comedy to like a period
Starting point is 00:17:26 dramedy like is so i don't know sarah and i went to the parties the party yeah because and i was like i'm going to this because i got invited last year you know before it became this like monster hit so they invited nobody helena y. And then season two rolled around and I had to like, I had to be like, get me into this. And I brought Sarah because we love the show. And we had literally front row seats
Starting point is 00:17:54 in the theater to go see it. And Amy Sherman Palladino came out in one of her hats and she was wearing this diamond necklace, like a double loop 1920s, like long diamond necklace. And my brain sort of went, oh, that those are fake because it's like that diamond necklace like a double loop 1920s like long diamond necklace and my brain sort of went
Starting point is 00:18:05 oh that those are fake because it's like that diamond necklace is insane but then i realized it's amy sherman paladino those are real diamonds and they were tiffany's had i think lent them to her i mean who knows she might have bought them but like was wearing this like very sparkly double hung thing and then we went to the we like walked on fifth avenue went to the rainbow room for the party yeah and we we stayed the entire time i mean we were obsessed we had the best time i mean and and they that's amazing amazon's that this party that they threw was lit i was like whoa they have and also you know like i imagine, that's probably their biggest hit, right? Yeah. I mean, post-Transparent, I feel like it. Right? Of course.
Starting point is 00:18:48 But I also remember hearing, like, that the pilot, when they were, you know how they just released the pilots? Yes. Like, that had been the best responded to one they had ever had. And I'm watching it, and I'm thinking, wow, it's gotten so much better since the pilot. Like, it's just one of those it reminds me of that's what i love about tv now is that like you can't i think like a lot of shows hit their stride even season two because now with tv you don't have to hit numbers like right off the beginning you can do amazon or hulu or whatever and people just let shows kind of get a chance and grow an audience yeah yeah and um amazon's able to do that and i mean listen i thought the pilot was also great. Yeah, so good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Pilot's so good. I think just tonally, like it just, I don't know, is such a good show. I'm still on season one. So that's why I'm like. Oh, wait till you get to season two. The shining moment of season two,
Starting point is 00:19:39 I'll just say to you, is that when they first get to the caskets and get to their house and there's that long scene. That one, can you believe? I got chills just even looking at you and talking about this. Literally. to you is that when they first get to the Catskills and get to their house and there's that long scene of them. I got chills just even looking at you and talking about this. We can tell you. It's an outside
Starting point is 00:19:54 the house. They check into the Catskills one of these family retreat things that people used to do which by the way are all being bought up by Brooklyn hipsters to revive this trend of like which come on, let's all get a house. We can make the house.
Starting point is 00:20:08 We can make the house. With like activities and like all this stuff. Oh my God. You know, like potato sack races. It looked fun. I know. It looked so fun. And so people are like,
Starting point is 00:20:16 you know, Brooklyn people like us, Brooklyn people. You know, Brooklyn people. Are buying up these Catskills retreats. Anyway, so the scene that Matt's talking about is that they set up a camera and they arrive to this house and you just see it from the outside. And it's essentially them moving back into the house with all of their stuff and throwing stuff out the window and rearranging the furniture and like yelling at the people to come back and forth.
Starting point is 00:20:39 And it was like a highly rehearsed one of them just in the house and like dialogue inside and outside. It was the most intricate thing I had ever seen. And they do some amazing one-ers, like that whole dance scene that they did also at the Catskills. That was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Unbelievable going from partner to partner. I don't know. Because if that was the same episode, that should win the Emmy for directing flat out right now
Starting point is 00:21:02 on this day. On this day. Or somebody who directed the other two. on this day. I know. On this day. Or somebody who directed the other two. Yeah, right. Of course. Let's get into it. And oh my God.
Starting point is 00:21:11 By the way, it's also like Chris and I could talk about Killing Eve for like another, like we were doing this whole press thing. Our cast was. And Chris and I were just going like
Starting point is 00:21:21 press person to press person being like, have you watched Killing Eve? And they were like, aren't we here to talk about you? We're like, we don't care. We just finished. We want to talk about it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Literally before Chris comes in, I am going to have watched Killing Eve so that we can talk about Maisel. And you have to watch Maisel so that we can be ready for Chris and Sarah. I'll talk to Sarah about Maisel. You talk to Chris about Killing Eve. Yes. The audience will just deal with that. Sure.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Sure. You can catch up with us concurrently okay so the other two which is a show that we are fucking love so Comedy Central sent us the whole season yes we got to watch it a little early but
Starting point is 00:21:57 I and I don't really do this like you binge watched you binge I binge I binge it too I never binge never it's a chore for me but I was like preparing myself to like roost for a day and just watch this whole thing and it was effortless and so good
Starting point is 00:22:14 and like I think it like it's just the way Chris and Sarah write and like even whatever this sounds so esoteric whatever but like even at the office when I'm like looking through old pieces of writing from old shows and it's like it says like Kelly Schneider. Yeah. I'm like reading through their sketches and I'm like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:22:32 They're iconically good. They're so good and crisp and clean. They're so good. Yeah. Unbelievable. And so and it just shows on this on the show and with the rest of the writing stuff with Cole, with Jordan, with Joel, like all these people. With Joel, with Cole, with Joel. With Cole, with Joel, with Joel.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Cole, with Joel, with Joel, with Joel, with Jordan. And just that room is so good and the writing is truly like, yes, it's what Matt was saying earlier. People are going to feel seen by this in a way that like I didn't think you could capture. I was like, oh, well, you know, like all this weird gay subculture of instagram
Starting point is 00:23:05 that's like something so specific that it's so abstract to me and the fact that they were able to like just in that one episode like capture that and make it funny i thought was like crazy well here's what i'll say and i want to know what you think about this this is what i think sets the show apart yeah i think we've we've tried we've seen so many times the woman who's almost 30 and doesn't have it together. This guy who's like, they're almost 30 and they don't have it together. And it takes place in New York. And we've seen that. But this is so lived in.
Starting point is 00:23:37 This is so real. And it is told in a way we haven't seen it. And what I really liked about this season is your character actually tries to get her shit together and like yeah like not to spoil but like succeeds in many ways at growing yes and so many times in other shows where we see this kind of like brooklyn situation of like weird and gotta figure it out it's like you see this kind of rote thing of like you see the ways in which they don't succeed but i love the show because it truly is serialized and we're really following these characters growth and like
Starting point is 00:24:12 yeah is that something that you knew would be a part of it from the pilot or like was that just a surprise as as you kept filming or it's just it's a really good point to make because i think that it is um and you know we've all auditioned for them so many times, or at least I do, because this is something I get placed in a lot, which is just like I can't get it together. And like, thank you for calling me almost 30. That's really sweet. Well, the two characters, you know, we're bouncing 20, 29, 30. Drew Tarver's playing 27. Oh, I think they put 20 and we were like, thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:47 And again, I think it's, you know, not to talk about this. Well, I could say this a thousand times right now is that it's a testament to Chris and Sarah again, which is just that they think about everything differently. So the minute you think you have some sort of like an interesting idea or think that where the characters will go or or what, you know, they think of something more interesting than you i don't know it's like their brains work differently than regular brains but it's what i love about the show is that it's you see them each every episode is essentially like a situation like the scripts were literally named chase turns 14 yeah chase goes to a premiere it's just all but it's but it's us plopped into these situations
Starting point is 00:25:26 and what i and and it's like you said she um brooke my character um it's it's like uh she's sarah said this word to me when i was like i don't know how to talk about it and she's like it's the idea that you pivot yes and it's in life and and then you know and we can speak to this in so many ways which is that you know you're faced with these things and instead of like sitting in your own muck about it you're like okay how can i now take this and then pivot yeah and and that's what i um love about it and there's no animosity that the two of them have for their brother's success at all there's no jealousy they're not mad about it. It's none of that at all.
Starting point is 00:26:08 It's like, okay, this is happening. How do I live within my life? And then I think what I love about Brooke is that she says, how do I now mold my future? Because this is an opportunity. She takes it as an opportunity. And yeah. It's brilliant. And just the, yeah, and you're right.
Starting point is 00:26:25 It's like, what both of you are saying, I'm just now realizing the way that what the show pulls off is so, so, so crazy because it is like two ne'er-do-well
Starting point is 00:26:35 Brooklynites, whatever, or just New Yorkers trying to make it. And then, but then like the container of that is their brother's success. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:43 And every episode is a situation. And like that's what the titles are. Truly, it's like. Right. And every episode is a situation. And that's what the titles are. Truly, it's like them being plopped into these different situations and that is the container for season one. And then there's a fun tease of what's coming up in season two.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I thought that was so genius what they do at the end of the season. That last shot, I'm like, oh my God, this is so fun. Which you're like, of course. Yes. And it makes perfect sense. And it builds so intelligently throughout the season.
Starting point is 00:27:08 You don't really see it coming, but then it makes total sense. I can't, I mean like, and you're going to hear us continue to talk about the show a bunch, but another thing I really loved about it is just like, just when you think, because there's an element of darkness to the show.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Yeah. A huge element of darkness. Especially for poor Drew, who got like put through craziness and makeup and heron yeah i mean like that drew's character there is it's really interesting the way that these this is another thing i really liked about it like this moment arrives in both your characters lives and you have to decide how you're actually going to tackle this moment when it comes you know
Starting point is 00:27:45 and it's this thing of like that's very the return to saturn right it's like it's like drew's character is supposed to be 28 and i see him like his character gets thrown this like wrench in his life and the same with yours and i actually think that your character is the older sibling and you do see like even those two or three years like the way that your character takes to like okay my pivot in life is happening right now you see like the differences there and he is like the little brother in a way yeah and so it's just so specific and well it's it's so funny too because it's like you know you think about i'll just say for myself is that like I became like I know this. This is related. I knew about Bowen because of high maintenance.
Starting point is 00:28:29 And then I became very aware of you when you were doing your lip sync things on Twitter. Which is like iconic. I mean, I watched them over and over again to like understand. What is happening in your brain? Because your mouth moves so perfectly but then what's even what's even better is that your face is fully acting
Starting point is 00:28:56 yeah he's acting you're doing Tyra you're doing Sandra you're doing Julia Roberts it's so funny it's a performance and then I knew about Matt because I started following performance and then and then like and then I knew about Matt because I started following you and then I got like introduced to like uh you know Kat Cohen and like Mitra and Patty Harrison and I was like oh this is so cool like you know our generation of comedians and like what's happening and then it wasn't until like three weeks ago that I was like
Starting point is 00:29:23 oh I'm like over half a decade older than all of you so the reason i bring this up is just to say is in like reference to the story is that we all look at where we're at in life how old we are what that means and what other people have accomplished until that moment how many times have you googled the age of an actor to be like so many they've accomplished and done all of these things and where am i in you know my story absolutely and like i'll i think it's we can look it up it's like emma stone age and you're like yeah i know forget it you know she's like hosted the oscars yeah i know it's insane especially because like now you really i don't know like i think like especially like it's a new phenomenon though it's new like with us yes
Starting point is 00:30:11 putting ourselves under these crazy rubrics in terms of age is relatively new i i think that is true when did you start performing and doing this right out of college okay cool and so there was a period was there a period of like success like earlier or like did people consider people were always telling you because this is something that we got a lot like you guys are so young you guys are so young i still get that which i'm like thank you but but now it happens a little bit less i'm finding like now that i'm like gonna be what what 29 i just feel like you don't hear as much as you were when you were 21 which is like well yeah you start out your career and
Starting point is 00:30:50 you're the youngest person exactly in whatever you're doing like the my first job out of college was this show called walmart topia of the minetta lane theater and i was the youngest person in the company and it you know it was that way for a while even when i did wicked i was very young like i was the youngest one of the youngest people. And then that just starts to stop happening. Yes, as you age. And it's like, it's like a case Walker who's on the show. I'm like, what do you mean you're 15?
Starting point is 00:31:17 It does not compute. What do you mean? He's like, this was my first audition. I'm like, ha ha ha. Same, same, same, same, same, same, same. I came to this just as easily. That was really his first audition I'm like same same same same same same I came to this just as easily that was really his first audition yes
Starting point is 00:31:28 he's like the Allison Williams of the show he was doing this app called musically which is this is Case Walker who plays Chase Dreams on the show perfectly cast perfectly cast perfect in every way and you know like we read with Drew and I read with, I think, like five different
Starting point is 00:31:48 kids. And he's just, you know, he's that. Yeah. He's that. That's exactly what he is. And he, you know, he's like, yeah, it's crazy. Like, you know, they came to L.A. and they did this audition and he booked a series regular on a television show.
Starting point is 00:32:03 It's amazing. And you're like, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. There is that thing, though, of you book that thing early, and then you realize it doesn't happen every time. Sure. It's different routes all the time. Right, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:15 The Real Housewives of New York City are back for another bite of the Big Apple. Look who it is. Joined by elite new friends. Rebecca Minkoff. Have you ever heard of her? But things could change in a New York Minute. She had this wild night and ended up getting pregnant by some other guy. What?

Starting point is 00:33:11 We got freaks. Or dudes dude. We got dogs. Dogs. We'll break down their games. We'll share some insider stories and determine what kind of dude each of these dudes are. Is Randy Moss a stud or a freak? Is Tom Brady a dog or a dude's dude?
Starting point is 00:33:28 We're gonna find out, Jules. New episodes drop every Thursday during the NFL season. Listen to Dudes on Dudes on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On Thanksgiving Day 1999, a five-year-old
Starting point is 00:33:44 boy floated alone in the ocean. He had lost his mother trying to reach Florida from Cuba. He looked like a little angel. I mean, he looked so fresh. And his name, Elian Gonzalez, will make headlines everywhere. Elian Gonzalez. Elian. Elian. Elian.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Elian. Elian. Elian Gonzalez. At the heart of the story is a young boy and the question of who he belongs with. His father in Cuba. Mr. Gonzalez wanted to go home and he wanted to take his son with him. Or his relatives in Miami. Imagine that your mother died trying to get you to freedom.
Starting point is 00:34:21 At the heart of it all is still this painful family separation. Something that as a Cuban, I know all too well. Listen to Chess Peace, the Elian Gonzalez story as part of the My Cultura podcast network available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Cheryl Swoops, WNBA champ, three-time Olympian, and Basketball Hall of Famer. I'm a mom, and I'm a woman. See, athlete or not, we all know it takes a lot as women to be at the top of our game.
Starting point is 00:35:09 We want to share those stories about balancing work and relationships, motherhood, career shifts, you know, just all the s*** we go through. Because no matter who you are, there are levels to what we experience as women. And T and I, well, we have no problem going there. Listen to Levels to This with Cheryl Swoops and Tarika Foster-Brasby in iHeart Women's Sports Production in partnership with Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment.
Starting point is 00:35:34 You can find us on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. I was going to say... And in waves, and that happens in waves. Exactly, exactly.
Starting point is 00:35:48 But I think that this is, I was just saying, like, it's a new thing where I feel like either, I mean, we're obviously... New for us. Yes, obviously that, but also back in the day,
Starting point is 00:35:59 like, pre-So Shmead? Yeah. They did this. I know, but it wasn't as amplified. I know. I agree. I think social media amplifies everything. Of course. And also the information isn't readily available
Starting point is 00:36:13 to you so you can't just dive into a wormhole of all this information. I literally for a bit that I did the other night at a show I googled Jude Law's weight and you can find it. He weighs 192 pounds. You can find it like he weighs 192 pounds like you can find it like but i was like wow you really can find anything so in terms of age like and then also there's that thing of like when someone doesn't reveal their age it's like a scandal but also who
Starting point is 00:36:36 doesn't reveal their age like the internet exists you know what's crazy to me like and this this is like a sicko statistic that sometimes, because it's Oscar season. What are you going to say? Somebody the other day was like, you know, it might be so-and-so's year because the mean age of a Best Actress Oscar winner is 29. And I was like, ah! Sandy Kenyon says that?
Starting point is 00:36:58 I'm Sandy Kenyon and let me tell you something. Sandy Kenyon. This movie wasn't good. That is stunning. I'm literally looking at you being like, how is he lip syncing to this voice that is not his own voice? Even though I know how things work.
Starting point is 00:37:12 I see the other two. There's no other series I'd want to watch. Listeners, that is mad. That is crazy. Wow. It's like Sling Blade, that impression. Anyone can do it. Anyone can do it.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Oh, God. I feel like Sling Blade, that impression. Anyone can do it. Anyone can do it. Oh, God. But no, I feel like the thing is, I've just been more aware of it as I hit, almost hit 30. And the thing is, that's the thing with this show. It's like, maybe that's why I feel like this show right now is the one I've waited for in this way because I am almost 30.
Starting point is 00:37:42 But there was one scene where I literally texted Drew that day because I was like I just watched the scene where you went to the gym oh I had gotten a gym membership that day that's too much and let me tell you I went walked into the crunch gym in Greenpoint looked around and walked out no I was
Starting point is 00:38:00 so upset I was so and now no forget it now and now I know now I know what i'm doing in there i'll make a humiliating admission i had a situation happen to me after i fully shot this scene and was aware of it and it happened in front of sarah and just to say like how things are related so i go to the as i said marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiere with Sarah. And you've watched the show. And I literally had been like, I have a publicist right now. So I was like, get me into Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Starting point is 00:38:32 I want to go to that party. They always have amazing past apps. And like, it's gorgeous. So I go and Sarah has to pick up the tickets because I was an idiot and took the R train. Which like, what? Nobody can depend on that. So I'm running late. Sarah picks up the tickets. It free she's like i'm cold get here and i'm like i'm sorry i'm coming she picks up the tickets and i go hey i'm so sorry i have to do the carpet because i got the tickets through
Starting point is 00:38:57 i don't blame you i was like and also like it was one of those giant covered carpets you know where you're like get me in there it's a good idea for you to do it. Yes. Forget it. Yeah. So I was like, okay, I have,
Starting point is 00:39:07 sorry, sorry, Sarah, I have to do the carpet. And I did this in front of Sarah, who is, I'm not kidding you. The coolest person I know.
Starting point is 00:39:14 I think the coolest person I know. She's really fucking cool. She's very cool. I mean, she and I are friends now and I'm still like, I think she's so cool. I can't believe they're even coming on our show. So this happened to me in front of Sarah Schneider after shooting the show.
Starting point is 00:39:26 I go up to the woman and I'm like, no, no, I'm sorry. I walk up to the gate and I go at the security card. It's like stops me and I go, hi. Yeah, I'm doing this. It's literally verbatim what I said. Hi, I'm doing this. And the girl goes, what's your name? And I said, Helena York.
Starting point is 00:39:44 And she goes, I don't have you on this list. And I go, cool. And the girl goes, what's your name? And I said, Helena York. And she goes, I don't have you on this list. And I go, cool. So where's the entrance? And I turned on my heel and we just walked in and Sarah was like, oh. Hi, I'm doing this. I'm doing this. I'm doing this.
Starting point is 00:40:01 And I say, hi. Title it up. Hi, I'm doing this. Hi, I'm doing this. Is this so ob hi, I'm doing this. Hi, I'm doing this. Is this so obnoxious to say? That is such a Lainey thing. That is so your character from High Maintenance. Well,
Starting point is 00:40:14 I'm so sad to say that, like, I'm not an actress. I just play myself. But, like, the best I mean, like, that is, like, no, that is beautiful beautiful and I have such respect and even the red carpet episode by the which by the way for all of our listeners
Starting point is 00:40:29 this happens on the other two this literally happens and I did it anyway I literally was like this might happen but it'll be funny so let's try anyway I'm so so happy that's amazing hi I'm doing this Matt you know what my favorite straight thing is um your own teeth yeah i was that and um i like

Starting point is 00:45:02 surrogate maybe and then maybe Carrie Drew's character was like what Chris channeled her into? Yeah, they get asked that a lot. You gotta ask them about it too when they come because it's definitely yes, but it's loosely no. But you know, the other day Chris was looking through old pictures
Starting point is 00:45:16 and found a picture of himself in his uniform from when he worked at that Italian restaurant. Oh my god. And it's literally what Drew's wearing. Wow. So, you know, there's definite parallels and um sarah when she was single was on a quest to see 50 dicks like that's a real thing that she and she now at her wedding was like and i made it to two um so there's definitely that i mean you know thankfully they're both wildly you know they, now they're catapulted into exactly who they are now.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Wild. So are you mostly in LA now? No, she's here. No, you're in New York. I walked here from my apartment. Shut up. He lives right around the corner too. Did you guys talk about this?
Starting point is 00:45:57 Yes. Helena texted me. I've been terrible about getting back to my texts today, but Helena texted me, is the studio your apartment? Because I'm a 20 minute walk from you. And I was like, no, but I'm blocks away. And then this is, to my texts today but Helena texted me is the studio your apartment because we're I'm a 20 minute walk
Starting point is 00:46:06 from you and I was like no but I'm blocks away and then this is okay so this is the story of how Helena and I met I want to know it's honestly
Starting point is 00:46:14 one of my favorite things that's ever happened to me it was my favorite day it was one of my favorite days of the year last year Ariel loves you too he was going on about it the other day
Starting point is 00:46:21 oh I love him he's anyway this could be an entire SoulCycle ad we could spend the rest of our time here doing that it often is go tell the story i want to know so i took i took a class at the brooklyn heights studio on court street this was like 9 30 a.m got my ass kicked hop out of the shower come out of the shower i get dressed i walk up the stairs and coming down the stairs i make eye contact with Helena And then I just seize
Starting point is 00:46:46 Up basically and then she and then You were the one to be like oh my god Bowen yeah and I was like What because I have been Like over here like for years And years and years being like oh like Just being like oh my god that blonde lady on High maintenance is so funny
Starting point is 00:47:01 And then fucking she's the one who recognizes Me and I was like this is is so backwards and fucked up. And then we had this like such a cute little chat on the stairs blocking everyone else's way. I can see it. And we exchanged phone numbers and we went to Cycle together. The next day or two days later.
Starting point is 00:47:17 The next day or two days later and we took class together. And that was the class where, who was the instructor? Was it Rachel? It was Rachel. And then it was where we had to go under the handles. And I was like, shit.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Do this. And it fucking, it gave me shoulders. Bowen kicked my ass. No, I didn't. Bowen is really good at SoulCycle. I'm very excellent, but some days I'm like, I'm very excellent at it. It's like the stupidest skill to have, but it's like one of my favorite skills. It's so fun.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Because every time I go and they're always like don't look around this is your journey and i'm on the bike fully looking around like look at you weak losers and i'm like fully keeping up and like sometimes if there's like a cute guy like behind me or diagonally behind me like i'll give them an extra ass show like i'm just oh i love it throw it back during a tap back i throw it back during a tap back and if there's a body roll i'm like get out of here week over i canceled on you twice i think yeah you cancel on me a lot i know well no the last time i was sick i was like in my i've actually had a lot by the way have you guys also had people canceling
Starting point is 00:48:25 on you like crazy because they're sick? Everybody is sick right now. Everyone's sick. It's not a good time right now for health. No, it's just not. No, we touched on it
Starting point is 00:48:32 before we came here because there's a bunch of food in front of us, but we're all gladly opting into each other's germs right now. Sure, but I'm doing great on Whole30.
Starting point is 00:48:42 I've never felt better. This is my last week that I'm free before work starts up again. I will take a class with you this week. I have to go to LA tomorrow. Fuck. She's got Prestidigital. I went today.
Starting point is 00:48:50 I took Joe today at 930. If anybody ever wants to stalk and kill me, you can come to the Brooklyn Heights Soul Cycle on Court Street. I'll be there. Well, you know who just moved to that studio and she's one of my favorites is Claire. Oh, I like Claire. Claire's great. She's beautiful. She's gorgeous. Oh my God. She Oh, I like Claire. Claire's great. She's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:49:05 She's gorgeous. Oh my God. She smiles and I'm like, heaven? Yeah. I'm like, and whenever she tosses her hair around, I'm like, you are a vision. She's like developing a following. She's like in the throes of developing a following. And she deserves that.
Starting point is 00:49:16 I can't believe I even know that. I've mentioned Claire on this pod before. No, I know it's Claire. She was the one who filled in for that Gaga class. And then she was the one who, like, during one of the sprints or one of the hills, she was like, um, she goes, you have to put in
Starting point is 00:49:34 effort, but you have to do more than enough. Enough doesn't put a roof over your head. Enough doesn't put food on the table, so I need you to go more than enough. And, like, she was, she, my god that is so good i just felt that in my life i literally just like i like uh readied my body she does she does the best talks well i just want to say because i would like to if we're before we get off this
Starting point is 00:49:57 cycle topic i would love to just quickly like promote a couple instructors that i think are great oh we love so people that i love um marvin who teaches at noho and west village a lot marvin is fantastic bevin also boasted so great bevin is also from one tree hill what yes god we gotta go gotta go and then karen karen has the body of dreams it's like one of those bodies where I'm like this is partially Genetic so I'll never have it so get out of my face Um She's amazing my friend Emily Turner she just had a baby but she's gonna
Starting point is 00:50:32 Be back on the schedule soon she looks like a mermaid She's amazing Joe at Brooklyn Heights Rachel's gone now I know I haven't But she's doing this new thing that I've heard is really great Like a dance fitness thing Also Ariel I mean Ariel And if you also again want to stalk But she's doing this new thing that I've heard is really great, like a dance fitness thing. Also, Ariel. I mean, Ariel is our friend. And if you also, again, want to stalk and kill me, I like to go to the 11.45 a.m. on Sundays at NoHo with Ariel.
Starting point is 00:50:53 And she just plays the best music. Plays the best music. He definitely does play the best music. And also, he always is sneaky with what music you think is going to fucking slap. I'm telling you. Yeah. He played That's The Way It Is by Celine Dion. And I had my hands in the air screaming out of joy god he's good he's so good and then he's so good
Starting point is 00:51:10 he finished it was since you've been gone by kelly clarkson which you were you were you were about to cry i was i was he played on sunday this mashup of every like white girl pop star song you want to listen to and it was like it was like a matchup of like Taylor and Kelly. And like, there was a Britney moment. I forget it. It was so good. And we were like,
Starting point is 00:51:28 oh, oh, the night that they were going to go see Dave and Ariel, when they were going to go see Britney in Atlantic city, he did an all Britney ride. And it was so fucking good. It was like, I'm a Rita.
Starting point is 00:51:39 I'm a Rita. I'd also just did the Britney hair toss. You couldn't see it. I think I've been to one of his Britney rides, but like years ago. Oh my God. I've been to one of his Brittany rides, but like years ago. Oh my God. I just want to say, some people want to throw shade at SoulCycle and they're like, I don't like cardio.
Starting point is 00:51:52 And I'm like, stop it and get into it. It's so, and it's like, I do other things because you're supposed to. I was going to ask what else to do, but keep going on this to cycle run. But it's just, it's just great. It's great. And it, and it honestly, it's great. This is very woo-woo. But exercise is good for your brain.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Yes. It changes your life. And I used to work at Physique 57. I worked the front desk. So this was my survival hustle. And I used to, when people checked in, check their age and what their addresses were. Because I was like, who's paying this for exercise? Like, oh, you live in so high.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Because I was, you know, like working it out. I was like printing my audition sides at the front desk and checking people in. And I would like get my bacon egg and cheese from the cart outside and like open the studio. And women would be like, is that bacon? And I'd be like, yes. Are you here for the 6 a.m.? And they would like work out smelling my bacon and now you're on TV who cares
Starting point is 00:52:50 but well it's just a good to say you know we all hustle and I worked and physique 57 is bar method and I've been going back and it is you should come with me while you're doing what Chanel I'll do it.
Starting point is 00:53:05 I got a car about time. It's so great. And it is so impossible. I'm scared. And there's like lots of different bar method studios. And I don't want to throw shade. But physique 57 is truly the place to go. It's so great.
Starting point is 00:53:16 I love it. SLT is also insane. Have you ever tried a mega former? It's like a there's a Pilates reformer. But then there's a mega former that has the movie bit, the moving bit. It's one of those things where they're like okay and you do one rep and you're like that's enough right and they're like no 40 more and you're like no no and they're like keep going and you're like I literally can't no like I don't
Starting point is 00:53:38 know what to tell you it's great that stuff's crazy well we you weren't there but for rachel winnitsky's um oh you guys did bar math we did a bar class and me and dave mazzoni ariel's boyfriend were the only guys that were doing it and it what we were like hey it'll be fine because it was like all these girls are doing it right small movements that kick your ass it was it was low it was like low impact but the highest impact it was it was but high frequency yeah it was like my body was shaking all day yeah and like i've actually since the year has turned i've been in the gym like every day i'm lifting more oh and so like now i'm trying to get back into it and i'm doing cardio and i have an announcement oh wow i am doing a marathon in november yes matt told me that congratulations
Starting point is 00:54:23 that's such a journey. Good for you. I'm going to do it. I always said I would do it because I used to run very competitively. He's a runner. And like in high school
Starting point is 00:54:31 and I was in really good shape and I've just kind of let that part of my life go. Which marathon are you doing? I'm doing Here we go. Disney World. His favorite place
Starting point is 00:54:40 in the whole fucking world. Jesus. Helena. Wait, can we get to I Don't Think So, Honey? Because it's related. Oh, wow. If you come for me, look, I'm doing it at Disney World.
Starting point is 00:54:53 I am. This could really be amazing. The way, how proud she was of me and how excited she was for me. And then when I said it was Disney World, the look in her eyes. You are a grown man. No. You are a grown man. No. You're a man.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Let him have this. You don't understand. You don't understand? When's the last time you went? Oh, God. The judgment is so real and I won't have it. The turn. Look, look, look.
Starting point is 00:55:19 I can't believe, I literally can't believe this. It's as small of a world as running into Bowen Yang on the stairs at Secycle on Court Street in Brooklyn Heights. What, that you're out on Thanksgiving? So honey, it happens to be this? It's literally. Okay. Oh, wait. We'll get to it.
Starting point is 00:55:36 We'll get to it. Oh my God. We're going to get to it. Before we get to it. I'll be live here to rebut. I'm still excited that you're running a marathon. That's amazing. It's going to be great. And the reason the reason why I'm doing it is because my friend Eric Erson, who did one
Starting point is 00:55:48 last year, emailed me and said, this one's at Disney World if you want to like have an extra reason to go. And I was like thinking about it. And I was like, it's in November. But by the way, like November in Florida, actually. Yeah. Fair enough. Sounds great.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Unless there's a hurricane. No. Yeah, for sure. Which the likelihood of that is actually high. Yeah, the world's over. So actually high. I hope this show comes out very soon. No, but the thing is, like it was it feels far enough away where I'm like going to be
Starting point is 00:56:16 able to get ready for it. And honestly, I said I would do it my whole life. And I'm now I'm kind of at that point where it's like stick to the training. Stick to the training thing. Is it also being disciplined? I've watched friends of mine go through this being disciplined about the whole thing the whole thing changes your life right not changes your life but it like gets into your brain in a way that you just sort of think about your own motivation and in your own organization and your you know ambition it's so amazing it's so impressive
Starting point is 00:56:44 and incredible to do one of those right now what i'm doing is ever since january 1 and even since a little bit before that i finally got a gym membership like i said i was been have been going to for months and months and months and so i've been going every day i'm in the gym for an hour every day and so i'm also thinking about what i'm eating and like i'm eating like like high protein meals like after I work out and stuff like that I just needed to change that part of my life to make it a focus and so like just letting all the listeners know I'm actively
Starting point is 00:57:11 doing it and I will be on this podcast every week so you can hold me accountable if I'm saying I'm not and he's gonna be in Orlando in November I'll be with him just to cheer him on are you coming I won't be there because it's the fucking worst place in the world Elena I need to know when on. Are you coming? I won't be there because it's the fucking worst place. Elena,
Starting point is 00:57:26 I need to know when the last time you went. I don't, I mean. Should I talk about it? Like, do I talk about it? Because like, this is truly insane. You're gonna do your,
Starting point is 00:57:33 I don't think so, so we'll hold off because there's more to talk about. I will say, there is like a fun little cabal of people at SNL, like high up people at SNL who like,
Starting point is 00:57:46 I overheard them talking about their Christmas plans and they were like yeah like I'll just out them like Dennis McNicholas that we can update was like yeah I'm just thinking about getting like a room at the Grand Floridian and just spending a few days what is happening people at SNL just like love Disney World too like
Starting point is 00:58:01 fucking like talent people like who are just like you know who I bet is super fun at Disney World too like fucking like talent people like who are just like I bet you know who I bet is super fun at Disney World Kate Kate probably hates it Kate probably hates it probably hates it I bet Cecily hates it
Starting point is 00:58:16 Cecily Cecily likes it Cecily likes it I think I don't know any of these people a lot of assumptions I'm just like eating olives listening to this conversation because I'm so angry no well listen okay well look it's it's a part of my it's a part of my interest i won't i simply won't apologize um but you know what though what here's what i will say if i ever went back there with the right people no i think running a marathon there cute does it double back though Do you have to see the same stuff twice?
Starting point is 00:58:46 I would imagine no, because the property is so vast. Is it 26.4 miles vast? It's hundreds of thousands of miles. It's crazy. Okay, so that's fun. And also probably flat the whole way. Yes, that's a thing. Because it's Florida, and there's no, you know,
Starting point is 00:59:03 for example the new york city marathon everybody talks about the fact when you run over the bridge over queens that it's like you're running uphill and you're halfway through yeah and then at the end central park is like an entire uphill gorgeous but all uphill yeah no it's when you're finishing when you're finishing insane it's it's that's a tougher one yeah but you're gonna deal with fucking you're gonna walk you're gonna be running through jello it's so humid it's so humid um i gotta tell you um well helena's right you could you could write a whole book about this just this experience about getting ready for it could fill up apparently a lot of adult people like disneyland and world they do and I'm one of them. And I actually now
Starting point is 00:59:46 am making my mission to soften this. And you are going to go to Disney World. It's very fun. You know what, though? Here's what I will say. And I'm saying it here now.
Starting point is 00:59:57 And maybe I'll be held accountable if I say it now. Is that if Bowen wanted me to go with him to cheer you on, I'd do that. Yeah. I would do that. I think we get a little we get a wanted me to go with him to cheer you on, I'd do that. Yeah. I would do that. I think we get a little group to go.
Starting point is 01:00:08 I think that we're going to go. To cheer you on and make dumb signs. And mine will have a dead Mickey Mouse on it. And then honestly, we're going to get you into the park. And we do a Catskills experience, like activities in a giant house. We've got to find this. Wow. Wow. We have to ask helena we have a question this is a question we ask all of our guests what is the culture that made you say
Starting point is 01:00:33 culture is for you which is basically another way of asking it's another way of asking what was the formative pop culture when you were growing up that really informed your interests now it's those kind of cultural touchstones that like kind of made you you whether it was music a particular musical artist that you liked a movie a kind of genre of something it's an interesting yeah it's like i i the first thing that comes to mind is um well like you know i'll just start by saying like, I dance ballet from the age of three years old and all this stuff. But the thing that feels like it made me me were Ace Ventura, Pet Detective. Hell yeah. And Austin Powers, number one.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Wow. Yes. I have been saying on this podcast, we need like a broad comedy like that. Physical. Yes. Insane comedy. Even seeing Jim Carrey at the Globe and his face. And I just think he is such a genius.
Starting point is 01:01:34 Compelling to watch. Unbelievably compelling and interesting. And that, you know, Ace Ventura Pet Detective is such a great movie. I can still recite it. And, you know, Christmasura Pet Detective is such a great movie I can still recite it and you know Christmas Vacation yeah that's a huge it's so it's you do mention that and literally I have an aunt that plays it on a loop
Starting point is 01:01:54 for 24 7 during the Christmas season and like highly underrated Julia Louis-Dreyfus in that movie is unbelievably great I don't know Margo. I know. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:02:08 What did she say to her, Matt? Whatever, Todd. I don't know, Margo. What are we going to do about it, Todd? I don't know, Margo. It is so good. So good. Do you have a blind spot for that?
Starting point is 01:02:19 I'm a bad comedy steward. I've never seen Christmas Vacation. My sister wanted to put it on this Christmas. It's hard to motivate one that you're like, I don't have a relationship to this. Yeah, it's true. But then like this was the first year that I finally saw It's a Wonderful Life
Starting point is 01:02:32 and I was like, oh my God, I could have grown up with this. I don't care for that movie. It was nice. It was like really uplifting. I care for it, but like I'm good now. Yeah, I'm good. That's fair.
Starting point is 01:02:41 But see, Christmas Vacation, I think like next up, it's next year. Is there amas movie that you're like every time yes this besides christmas vacation um family stone i can't i was gonna say like maybe families but i didn't watch it this year which i'm surprised by me neither home alone home alone i did watch two home alone two yeah lost in new york because you know it's like when 96th Street looks like a shithole and you're like, that's funny. Also like the... And the park is so dangerous.
Starting point is 01:03:11 And the park sucks. Times Square is like, oh no. Yeah. Seriously. Catherine O'Hara like running through Times Square with like her nice coat. She's like, oh God, looking over her shoulder. Yeah, this city is so dangerous.
Starting point is 01:03:24 But yeah, no was that is a good one and also the hijinks that he gets up to like the things he plans for the second one are heightened well I watched it this year and I was like Kevin McAllister is a fucking diabolical psychopath I was like oh he belongs
Starting point is 01:03:40 in like a home for troubled children also you know what's so crazy about that movie is like he sets up all that shit and then the next day his family all comes back and it's all it's all just like gone or like he's disposed of it all and like nothing's
Starting point is 01:03:56 nothing's said about like the brother-in-law's house that was totally destroyed like while they were doing construction project nothing is said about also in the first one when like he literally like destroys all those ornaments. Like there's like the doorknob is all heated up with that thing. Like imagine somebody reached for that doorknob and it was all hot. My mom this Christmas, first time she saw it, she was like, what if the mom opens the door?
Starting point is 01:04:20 My mom was like really concerned. My mom have never, I've never seen my mom laugh that hard in my life. At Home Alone? She was cackling at Home Alone in a terrifying way. I was like, oh my god. I saw something that was like about raising children and about how it's bad that they see this kind of slapstick like people getting hurt and I was like, okay
Starting point is 01:04:38 though. No. Did it affect us? No, because also like that, they've been having that for years. Like think about Looney Tunes. Even though it was cartoons, like literally all the comedy was heavy shit falls on people. Well, actually I just realized what I'm referring to and it is a gorgeous film and it's the Mr. Rogers story.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Yeah. Which where he talks about how it's so sad that kids are exposed to all of this, you know, getting harmed and things all the time. And you watch Mr. Rogers and you're like, he has a point, but also I really do like when the road runner keeps getting away. Yeah. I mean, I love god no he i cried on a plane at that movie
Starting point is 01:05:13 i love that you say austin powers because austin powers is yes like and also like all of them that came out are all funny oh my god the first one great. The second one I think might be my favorite. And then Goldmember is great. Goldmember I think is so underrated. And also Beyonce. Beyonce's fully in it. Fully in it. Shazam! Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Oh my God. She's so good in it. She really is really good. Margaret that you're naked on a cold day. Margaret that you're naked on a cold day. I love it. It's so funny. It's so smart.
Starting point is 01:05:43 The one liners. One million dollars. It's so funny. It's so smart. The one liners. One million dollars. It's so good. And all the Japan stuff, the Tokyo stuff and the third one with that and all the subtitles. Guys, am I having you over so we can rewatch? We have to. We have to marathon. I don't remember the last time I saw it.
Starting point is 01:05:59 I watched. I saw Austin. I've seen it. That's worth it. I recently watched the second one because it was just on television and it was just so good. Like, literally, there's this scene where, like,
Starting point is 01:06:09 the, like, spy, like, the woman is, like, approaching. Like, it's the first scene with Heather Graham. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's like, you better keep an eye out
Starting point is 01:06:15 because there's a spy here. And then she walks away and then he's like, and then this girl comes over, Robin Swallows. And she's like, can I have her dance stand right here? And then she keeps getting shot.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Oh, she's so good on that. And she goes, get the bazooka! Yes! And she's wearing that wig that's pushed back. Oh, my god. And it's so much physical comedy. And all the actors in it are so good. And also, the second one brought us the American Woman cover.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Yes. The Lenny Kravitz American Woman cover. So good. That is so good and like hot. It really is. Is it the same scene where Heather Graham is dancing? Yes. With the other.
Starting point is 01:06:56 Oh my God. So good. You know what part I kept rewinding to as a kid was at the end when the rocket is about to launch and it's Frau restarting the countdown. And I would just laugh laugh I thought we should scream 5! we can probably go to 5 so funny
Starting point is 01:07:14 we don't have shit like that anymore we don't and if we do it like tries too hard but like we don't have shit that's just like scene to scene just funny like in that the scenes are written like sketches. There's a simple comedic idea in each scene and it's just executed. It's just stupid.
Starting point is 01:07:30 Is it that audiences don't want that anymore? I don't know. Or is it that it doesn't work now? I think everyone's obsessed with being smart. Yeah. Don't you think? I don't know. Write it, Bowen.
Starting point is 01:07:41 Write it. Write it, you guys. Maybe that should be what we write. Yeah. We basically wrote a show that we have a whole show which is called night soap which is us in full drag as two warring chocolate dynasty matriarchs the hershey's and the nestle's and it's about who's gonna sell the first chocolate in space and it was it is the only and my character's name is barbara hershey the actress barbara hershey and it is in fact piece. And my character's name is Barbara Hershey. The actress Barbara Hershey. And it is in fact that Barbara Hershey.
Starting point is 01:08:06 And you're Veronique Nestle. Veronique Nestle. That was a good show. Well, I'm a veil to be your assistant. I don't know. Helena should have a camera. We did it one time. It literally, the story is like a fucking Mike Myers thing.
Starting point is 01:08:22 Like by the end, we do end up in space. It is like the second Austin Powers movie. Fights of the Death in Space. Yeah, I mean, honestly. Guys, remember Mars Attacks? Yeah, of course. Oh, my God. I love Mars Attacks.
Starting point is 01:08:30 And also, that was classic Glenn Close right there. Classic Glenn Close. Classic SJP. Is SJP Mars? Oh, my God. She's the dog. Isn't Natalie Portman in Mars Attacks? Elizabeth?
Starting point is 01:08:41 No. Someone is. Natalie Portman. Is she the president's daughter daughter I feel like someone plays The president's daughter I need to rewatch this that's a Really good one really good god and we're like the girls She's walking like this She's like really an alien she's like this is how
Starting point is 01:08:54 People walk So and that little That's that dress anyway Oh but the third Austin Powers gave us Nathan Lane lip syncing to Beyonce yes Every scene is a sketch so Anyway. Oh, but the third Austin Powers gave us Nathan Lane lip syncing to Beyonce. Yes. See, yeah, every scene is a sketch.
Starting point is 01:09:08 So good. It is. Damn it. I mean, also the music in it was just like, wait, what does Beyonce sing? He had the Midas touch, but he touched it too much. Here go member. Here go member. The whole beat of Smoking a Pancake or great like so i will say out of the whole austin
Starting point is 01:09:29 powers canon gold member is the character that hit the least for me but that's only because we had the gloriousness of fat bastard um the confusing with the vials with the shit and like oh my god it's a bit naughty. But a bit naughty. It's so stupid. It's so funny that you mentioned those movies as like influences, like formative things for you. Because I feel like, Helena, you've had such a great varied resume. But it feels like in your heart of hearts, you are like a comedy person. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:10:06 Yeah, it's interesting because I, it's's not interesting it just is what it is um i you know i went to school for theater and um when you go to school for theater you're like you fancy yourself very deep and i played like um who's the mom and tommy um mrs walker i played mrs walker and tommy my senior year and then i graduated and I was like only cast in comedic roles in theater and then I started doing TV and I did I have gotten to do a lot of different things which is so cool what I do
Starting point is 01:10:34 wish sometimes looking back I'm like oh I wish I had done a UCB or thought about doing stand-up or getting involved in that but I was so poor and UCB classes are like 400 dollars 450 now jesus and so i was like well i'm i'm gonna try you know i was trying to do theater and i was doing a lot of theater and i was touring i like toured wicked when i was very young
Starting point is 01:10:55 and i toured like high school musical as sharp oh my god you were sharp so you know i was doing that and so i was just sort of on that train and so I didn't get into that world and honestly it has always felt like and this is why this is to me I'm like so excited that people love the show and and and all of this or so far because they've been sending the episodes out yeah but when I got the pilot for this speaking because you were talking about running into Schneider and Kelly sketches now that you're at SNL when I got the pilot I read it and I was like oh I hate reading stuff
Starting point is 01:11:30 I want like it's so scary because when you want something you're like there's a possibility that I'll disappoint myself and I won't get it and so I read the pilot and I was like fuck and so I went in and I met them and I was in there for a long time and
Starting point is 01:11:46 we were chatting and they're fans of high maintenance and um and I was just like god they're so cool like this is so cool and like all of these like you guys are so deeply cool and like this whole world is so cool and I was like I got out of the audition and I called my manager and I was like well I'll never get it but do you think that they'd want to have a drink with me sometime? Tell them I'm down to hang. Like I want to hang out. And then next thing you know, you're going to fucking Mrs. Maisel's premiere party with Sarah. I'm doing this.
Starting point is 01:12:17 Hi, I'm doing this. That is the coolest. It feels like it's a club in a way. And it's not because it's, and the thing that has been so amazing about being a part of this world now is that everybody in like, you guys are so included in this is so incredible and wants to like constantly tell each other how great they're doing all the time. And I'm so amazed by people and so inspired by like different voices and
Starting point is 01:12:42 comedy right now is so interesting and cool and different and definitely going in a cool place. Yes. And it was even like I went I saw Bowen guest on the, you know, Kat and Mitra and Patty show. And the way that those three girls. Oh, it's it was really funny. It really made me laugh. Oh, it's a guy thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:03 It's a guy thing. Sorry. Thank you. And that whole song where they're like, God is a guy because he's so random. And I was just like, this is so amazing. Anyway, I just, I think you're all so cool and I'm so excited to be here. And so it was like, you know, watching things like Ace Ventura or, um, you know, I just, I, I kind of like, I turned into theater and like I said about about Brooke, I pivoted a little bit. And it feels right to be here. And I'm so excited to be in this.
Starting point is 01:13:33 Molly Shannon plays my mom. Oh, my God. You know, that is so special. What is that turn of events of life? Oh, cool. And she's the best. The greatest. Oh, my God. She's the best the greatest she's the greatest
Starting point is 01:13:47 I mean if you watch the show there's a scene that we do on a plane and she's absolutely amazing she's just insane and you know we do these scenes in a bathroom and she's just you know that episode that was an
Starting point is 01:14:04 example of it's like episode eight or nine you guys so i'm not going to talk about the specifics but i will say there's an episode later in that season which is the one we're talking about which is the perfect example of what's so special about this show is it has all the darkness and it actually, in the most shocking way, makes it one of the funniest episodes of the series. It's so, and then by the end, it's dark, but then by the end, the way it gets talked about is just so funny somehow. And it's truly good dramatic performances.
Starting point is 01:14:38 Yes. Truly good. From everyone. I mean, across the board, just like, also, I have to say, I's my favorite I think my favorite moment of the whole season is a scene with Drew at the end of one episode which is you know what I'm talking about which is
Starting point is 01:14:51 oh my God like I there's just it's just so good you guys so smart and that's like a true Chris tribute oh yeah I know that felt very Chris to me the credit sequence the credit sequence the one of there's a credit sequence towards the end of the season. That was you and Molly, right?
Starting point is 01:15:08 Yeah, yeah. Just in the back. So funny. It was just so good. Drew's giving you so much in so many different things. The other thing that like, this show gives you Wanda Sykes for Christ's sake. Yeah, Wanda goddamn Sykes. It's, you know, there were days I was at work with her and I was like, what's happening?
Starting point is 01:15:23 Yeah. It's so awesome. Oh my God. You know, they just got smart, cool people. Like, you know, Richard Kind I was at work with her and I was like what's happening it's so awesome and you know they just got smart cool people like you know Richard Kind is on the show Richard Kind did you know Drew before no wow great and you guys have such a chemistry you guys have a very good believable
Starting point is 01:15:37 we had to do a chemistry read like we had to audition together and I looked him up and I was like great one of these UCB guys knows how to do this and I was petrified because he is I don't just a plug for Drew really quickly is if you go if you're ever in LA and you go to the UCB on Franklin he
Starting point is 01:15:54 performs with his team on Friday nights at 9 and Gillian Nassim is also on that team and she wrote on our show and they are very good and Drew is very good have you seen him I mean I've known i know drew and i've known his comedy for a long time he is very good so good he's a very skilled wonderful improviser and so yeah i don't know that worked out yeah no that's so cool and the thing is too it's like it's
Starting point is 01:16:18 like you said like you read these things and you're like so and the odds are so stacked against you that you're gonna get this perfect thing oh it's insane yeah it's i i think it's something that like a lot of actors that i you could talk about this this has happened to all of us where you're like where you just get it and you're like oh yeah now i'm gonna have to be disappointed now i'm gonna like i'm gonna be nervous when i get in i know exactly how it's gonna feel i'm gonna be like waiting for the phone call i have to say though and this is not in a way to brag in any way but when you read something that feels so perfect
Starting point is 01:16:49 it's often because it is yeah like you know I don't know it just things it's like you know it's like what they say about meeting the right person you're just like yeah you know what I mean easy well it's it's it's two things where it's like Chris and Sarah like the whoever's behind the work are the people who've like made it so perfect but well it's it's it's two things where it's like Chris and Sarah like the whoever's
Starting point is 01:17:05 behind the work are the people who've like made it so perfect but that it's it's incumbent on the other person to be like oh I'm responding to this and so therefore I want to yeah do a good job and just represent this one I feel like that is just the perfect stars aligning thing that that happens yeah and what was amazing also about that experience and shooting it because we shot it all in New York, which also for me living here was an absolute dream.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Like I've shot a show in New Mexico, which is a beautiful place. Like you're away from home. That sounds like feels like you're on assignment. Like Drew, God bless him, was away from home.
Starting point is 01:17:37 I actually found his sublet and he has a lot of stories about his sublet that I found for him. So you can ask him about the sublet that he lived in while he was here. But is that when Chris and Sarah, when we were doing this, they were so, and I think it's also their experience at SNL, they were so involved and invested in the things that they had written and the story that they were trying to tell.
Starting point is 01:18:01 And, you know, it was one of those things where if, if I, if they asked me to do like 15 takes of something, I never felt like, oh, I'm failing. I never felt that way. I always felt like I know that they're waiting to get what they need because, and then I trust them. And I was just like, oh, I'll get there. And you develop a shorthand with people that are, I mean, they created an environment where like everybody loved each other and they were all happy to be there. And, you know, costumes and, you know, photography, everybody that was there was just like happy and loving what we were doing. Like there's nothing more pleasurable also than seeing like, you know, your cameraman
Starting point is 01:18:38 with like their shoulders bouncing up and down because they're laughing. And Chris and Sarah did that. And they went out of their way, like Jill Bream, who does our costumes, does the costumes for the shorts at SNL. And, you know, there's just all these. And then Charlie, who is our director of photography, does a lot of the photography for the shorts at SNL.
Starting point is 01:18:56 And so it was like a family. It's so overused, I think, to say that. But it's, you know, it's like on so many levels, this was such a dream job for me and to the point that it was like a character that I really wanted to play the writing was so good Chris and Sarah are so amazing I absolutely love Drew I love Ken Marino I should say Ken Marino too is also amazing Ken Marino who is an again an amazing improviser an incredible funny man and and Molly I mean my god and like case who is who we watched grow into this like wonderful actor while we were doing this and giving so much heart and you know it's
Starting point is 01:19:31 it's we got to know his parents like it's just it's lucky that's no but it's so great but it's deserved it's deserved everyone i mean you especially everyone just sort of is in the right place there and it sounds so so, so, so fun. And I'm from the outside looking and being like, that is so cool. I'm so excited to just follow this. I think the show is going to be successful. And January 24th is when it premieres, everybody, which also coincidentally, and this is how you know it's a lucky day.
Starting point is 01:19:59 That's my sister's birthday. Okay. She will turn 26. Oh. Oh, 26. 26. Wait, does it have a oh 26 um wait are you into astrology yes okay what are you a pisces i'm a pisces what is your bone is a scorpio we are water signs no wonder i want to sit on. I'm just kidding. See, I get sexual. I get very sexual towards not my own signs, but Aries.
Starting point is 01:20:30 Oh, interesting. When's your birthday? March 5th. Okay. When's yours? February 27th. Okay. We're right around the corner. We are right around the corner.
Starting point is 01:20:38 I actually, you were just saying, and I'm thinking now, maybe I'll do a Physique 57 class for my birthday. Whoa. Yeah. Like maybe I'll, that would be fun, right? And you'll be in New York, right? You'll be here. Yeah, I'll be here. I'm going to LA for the pilot season.
Starting point is 01:20:52 Oh, good, good. You should. We're going out there to do it. Do it. You'll be so mad where I'm going for my birthday. Fucking Disney. God damn it, Matt. It's harsh, but that's the way I am.
Starting point is 01:21:04 I can't believe that we're Pisces and sisters and yet this is what tears us apart i feel like as a pisces you should be right in touch with your inner child um no my my inner but i was a child and now i'm an adult so that time has passed that is that is a classic i also was taken to taken to Disneyland when I was a child and I went on the frog and toad ride and I lost my shit. I was terrified. I was in a corner of that little boat like, get me out of this hell. Not every ride there is for kids. And that's why you need to go back as an adult. Wow.
Starting point is 01:21:39 Just manifold reasoning. If it's not for kids, then whatever. I'm not surprised to hear that you're a Pisces I'm never surprised to meet a Pisces no I knew that we were all vibing and I knew we were all water signs at the table because now I am an astrology bitch like I do feel this way
Starting point is 01:21:56 well I don't know if you follow the Pisces horoscope like the ones on Instagram and I'll read them and I'm like this is terrifying there have been days where I've been terrified I'm like do you know my life it's crazy it's been a little rough I think
Starting point is 01:22:12 recently for Pisces maybe I feel like well that no no no recently actually it's all turned around but like my whole first but that was my return to Saturn well the thing that I was annoyed that I didn't get introduced to about of I didn't get introduced to, I didn't get introduced until later on your podcast,
Starting point is 01:22:32 is that I agree with you about the superstition on how you spend the first moments of your new year. And so I threw a party at my house, and the theme was Canadian tuxedos. Great. And everybody showed up in all denim, and I made margaritas. We were all tanked. I had an amazing night.
Starting point is 01:22:44 I was so happy. And I was like, oh, this is good We were all tanked and I had an amazing night. I was so happy and I was like, oh, this is good. Like, I believe in that as an omen. Bowen, what's Zola? Zola is the wedding company

Okay, so let's just touch on the things we talked about in the beginning because I know that we need the opinions. Bohemian Rhapsody.
Starting point is 01:24:56 Where are you at? Well, I didn't see that. Okay. So that's where I'm at. And here's where I am at. The favorite was so good. So good. Also, can you ever forgive me?
Starting point is 01:25:06 Megan. Loved it. Come on. Not Megan. Yeah. Melissa McCarthy. Melissa. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:25:10 Jesus. Melissa McCarthy. So good. But like the favorite is one of my favorite movies ever seen. It's so good. And the fact that those three women performances, I was like, oh my God. And you could just tell they were having a blast. Oh yeah. You were like, oh. And that moment where she's like, are you looking at me?
Starting point is 01:25:30 Don't look at me! Close your eyes! So good. How dare you! How dare you! I think she's unbelievable. I think they're all amazing. And I loved when Olivia Colman won Best Actress. She said, thank you to my bitches
Starting point is 01:25:45 my bitches I love that her speech was just I got to fly on an airplane or whatever she was like I flew in a private jet she's like true that kind of speech is what I'm here for
Starting point is 01:26:00 I need either that exact kind of speech or inspiring speech like Glenn Close. Yes. That was an amazing speech. But Olivia Colman, like a bunch of names. I'm like, write them a card.
Starting point is 01:26:12 I hit. Hello. I don't think so, honey. When your speech is all names. Cause who's going to remember that? You know what it is? It's,
Starting point is 01:26:20 it's, it's, I get it because you're like this as, especially as an actor, I'm going to say this is that you're, it's like like it's nice and everything that like people like you're also very aware that you're like somebody else created the words I'm saying and directed this. And then also not for nothing edited it. And that's you. And so when you're an actor, you're like and not to say that, you know, we don't have value.
Starting point is 01:26:40 I obviously have a lot of value. It's just that you were very aware that so much of what you did has to do with a lot of other people. Of course. And so I think that that's what that is. And as soon as you start naming, okay.
Starting point is 01:26:52 Right. And as soon as you start naming people, you're excluding others just automatically. Like that's what, that's what's happening. But that's the problem is that I would 100%, like I liked it when What's Her Face won from Nurse Jackie and she was like,
Starting point is 01:27:02 I gotta go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not Edie. It was, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh oh name starts with an m name starts with an m oh my god yes she literally got up she couldn't believe it and she merrick merritt weaver merritt weaver and she got up and she was like oh my god i i gotta go yeah i gotta go and she's she's incredibly talented my thing with with the speech thing though is i still say I don't think so honey on this because it is also entertainment.
Starting point is 01:27:29 Like those shows are produced shows. And so you have to be entertaining up there. And I think people in the entertainment industry will understand that. So I think you have to keep it real brief if you're going to say names. Say the really important names that you feel did that. But you have to hit them with some entertainment.
Starting point is 01:27:44 Something. You know what I mean like we need to be feeling feelings while you're up there and I do understand like listing the names and feeling nervous and also you know you probably have a lot of people in here being like remember if you went to say this
Starting point is 01:27:58 person this person's ego this person this person yeah there's like probably that happening and it's probably hard also to be like no I'm going to do my own thing. I get that for sure. But I really did love Olivia Colman's speech.
Starting point is 01:28:10 I thought she was so, and she's so cool and awesome in that movie. What did you think should have won best movie? All right. Or what did you love this year? Not should have,
Starting point is 01:28:17 like listen, I haven't seen Bohemian Rhapsody. I will say this. I've actually seen a lot more than I thought I had. Let me guess. You would have wanted Vice to win best Musical or Comedy and then The Favorite?
Starting point is 01:28:27 No. No, I would have wanted The Favorite, I think. No, but for Musical or Comedy, yes. For Musical or Comedy, I would have wanted The Favorite. I liked Vice. Yeah. But I didn't love it. And for Best Drama, you would have wanted Stars Born?
Starting point is 01:28:37 Not necessarily. I think probably I would have voted for- Beale Street? I haven't seen Beale Street. I haven't seen it either. Me neither. I want to see that. I probably would have voted for Black Panther.
Starting point is 01:28:45 For me, for SAG, I think I'm... That was an incredible movie. It was amazing. I think for SAG, I'm going to vote for Black Panther. Yeah. And I think for Best Actress, honestly, I think I might vote for Glamour. This isn't my own thing, Sonny, but...
Starting point is 01:28:58 Wait, how was that movie? I haven't seen that movie. The wife is very good. She's amazing. Is it better than Melissa McCarthy? I saw Can You Ever Forgive Me? And I was like, this is one of my favorite performances. And by the way, not just her, Richard E. Grant.
Starting point is 01:29:12 So amazing. That last shot of him where he comes into Julius, which is one of my favorite New York City bars, period. Gay or otherwise bars. Great bar. But he walks in and the way he looks at her, the regret in his eyes and his face.
Starting point is 01:29:27 It's so amazing. I get chills to thinking about it right now is one of the most, I mean, maybe one of my favorite things I've ever seen captured on film. Yes.
Starting point is 01:29:34 His performance in that is unbelievable. He should win the Oscar. I thought he was going to win. He should win Best Supporting Actor. And I think Mahershala, the thing is,
Starting point is 01:29:41 like people love him. He's already won. He's already won. For me, it's like when an actor has already won an Oscar, I'm cool moving on. Oh, did he win one already? He won for Moonlight.
Starting point is 01:29:49 Oh, Richard E. Grant? No, no, no. Mahershala. Oh, right, right, right. And he is very much the front runner. That movie as well. By the way, did you guys watch Bird Box? No, I haven't seen it because I'm too scared.
Starting point is 01:29:57 Okay, well, I loved it. And Trevante, who plays- Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, my God. The most attractive man he's great. Oh, my God. The most attractive man in the world. Oh, my God. I literally was like, what do I recognize him from? And I looked it up and I was like, oh, he plays the hot grown up version.
Starting point is 01:30:12 He's the hot grown up in Moonlight. In Moonlight, where he's in the diner. Yep. And what's his name from the Jitney on Broadway? What is his name? Oh, my God. Oh, wait. Who plays the other.
Starting point is 01:30:20 The waiter. The waiter. Yeah. Fuck. Cutie. I'm losing it, but yes. But he plays the like, he's wearing, he has like a grill in his mouth. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:29 And. Machine Gun Kelly? What? Machine Gun Kelly? Machine Gun Kelly? No. Because he has the guy with the last tattoo. Never mind.
Starting point is 01:30:36 No. Tattoo guy? But anyway, but Trevante plays that part in Moonlight and he's in Bird Box and you're just like. Did you see Trevante's Calvin Klein ad? What? It's just him in underwear. It's crazy. Oh, I gotta go guys. And he's in Bird Box. And you're just like. Did you see Trevante's Calvin Klein ad? What? It's just him in underwear.
Starting point is 01:30:46 It's crazy. Oh, I got to go, guys. It's the most boing thing I've ever seen. His arms in Bird Box. Go home and watch it. Okay. I think I might just for that. But if we're talking about like the award season, I'm feeling like Glenn, it's her time. Here's my thing on Melissa.
Starting point is 01:31:03 You prescribe to that. Like it's their time. Not really necessarily.'s my thing. Okay. Here's my thing on Melissa. You, you prescribed to that. Like it's their time. Not really necessarily, but I feel like an Oscar. Here's the way I feel. And if she, if she loses this year, then that makes her the most frequent loser.
Starting point is 01:31:16 I just don't think we can really allow that to happen, but here's here. Let me get this out. So basically here's what I think. Melissa McCarthy, she's fucking incredible. And can you ever forgive me what I think. Melissa McCarthy, she's fucking incredible. Unbelievable. And can you ever forgive me?
Starting point is 01:31:27 Unbelievable movie. Everybody should watch it. But I still think, and this is like weird, I still think her most iconic performance is Bridesmaids. And I would like Melissa McCarthy to win for something that uses her, all of her amazing, unique skill set. Because the way I think people should win an Oscar is you watch it and you say,
Starting point is 01:31:50 there's no one else that could have done it like that. That's how I feel. So for me, it's like, the reason I'm a fan of Gaga's performance is because I don't think there are many people who could have done that the way that was done. You get pop star across. You believe that sort of specific,
Starting point is 01:32:10 specific romantic chemistry she has with Bradley. You get how much of a risk it was for Lady Gaga to do something like that. She could have looked like a fucking idiot. That's why I love that performance. And I genuinely am moved. That's actually an awesome assessment. I'm moved by that performance.
Starting point is 01:32:29 And I think the chemistry between her and Bradley is the best chemistry of the year. However, Glenn Close is one of the most iconic actresses. And she's amazing in The Wife. And I just would feel strange voting for a pop star the first time they nominated for an Oscar. So I'm leaving my own rubric behind to say that I actually think Glenn Close, she should have an Academy Award. And she's also amazing in that movie. Olivia Colman, I think she's also incredible.
Starting point is 01:32:58 I just don't think she's the lead performance in that film. And whichever the fifth one is going to be, it's probably going to be Emily Blunt and Mary Poppins and she'll do better work. It still sticks to your rubric though to choose Glenn because no one else could have done what she did in The Wife necessarily.
Starting point is 01:33:12 Did you see The Wife? No, I haven't seen it yet. You should see it. Okay. Sudi just saw it and she was blown away by it. You were just on a plane. Is it on planes?
Starting point is 01:33:18 It wasn't on a plane. I just got the screen or I haven't watched it but I'm saying hypothetically you think glenn might not glenn did something that no one else could have done i think that which is your standard rubric right and i think that at this moment in time it's like i saw that glenn close performance and i was like that's an expertly done extremely well-crafted performance that i respect deeply
Starting point is 01:33:40 yeah but for me it's just like there is the gaga thing and i am like deeply a gay man who wants to see gaga just say this about stage what i love about gaga in this award season is that you know and this is this conversation is that fashion choices that you make as an actress, there's, you know, you fit within kind of a box. She's a rock star. Yeah. So she can match her hair to her dress and just get away with it. And it is unreal presence.
Starting point is 01:34:18 She is already a legend. It's incredible. I mean, even thinking about looks that she did that maybe you didn't like you still remember them like those dishwashing gloves the red dishwashing gloves with the white gown like i just love it was even like whatever you think about what janelle monet wore at the golden gloves she was wearing a carl augerfeld and the fact that i know these things and i'm just like but she can do whatever she wants, I think, because she's a rock star.
Starting point is 01:34:46 And there's something about that. Like, I don't know. I envy it. I'm like, I would kill to match blue hair to this like blue Valentino custom cloud thing that she wore. Custom Tiffany. Oh, my God. Maybe I've been watching too much Drag Race, but I felt we needed bigger hair to go with that dress. I personally didn't love the hair choice. I thought
Starting point is 01:35:06 the dress was great and I loved the nod to Judy in A Star Is Born which was, what was that? So basically the dress that she it was an homage to a dress that Judy Garland's character wins the Oscar in. Oh my god. She didn't do it on purpose.
Starting point is 01:35:22 They were talking about it. Oh she didn't do it on purpose. Because they show it to her and she's like oh my god yeah those't do it on purpose. They were talking about it. Oh, she didn't do it on purpose. Because they show it to her and they're like, and she's like, oh my God, yeah, those look very similar. Wow. Okay, so I would have thought
Starting point is 01:35:30 HPA, there you go. And that's how we choose our producers very wisely so they know this. But honestly, like, it very much looks like an homage and the hair choice,
Starting point is 01:35:40 I just, like I said, maybe I've been watching too much Drag Race because I wanted like more volume to go with the volume of the dress. you know what at the end of the day you're fucking right i i'm literally just sitting here basking in the energy of it yes there's just oh i sat next to janelle monae and she was sitting across from tessa thompson at a restaurant recently i was
Starting point is 01:36:02 sitting right next to her and across from was tessaessa Thompson and I was like, oh my God. Yeah, no, that's overwhelming. And her skin glows like that in person. Yeah. It's crazy. Cover girl, baby. I mean, she is one of the most beautiful women. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:36:15 In Hollywood. She is insane. And Tessa Thompson was, oh, forget it. Tessa's, oh my God. Just in terms of style at the Golden Globes, I have to shout out Nicole Kidman Nicole Kidman looked unbelievable
Starting point is 01:36:27 that Merlot she always does she's got great taste oh she's awesome great taste in fashion great taste in the product
Starting point is 01:36:35 she was just so like gave her gave her a flu shot through that dress wait you gave her a flu shot that was
Starting point is 01:36:41 she was one of the gave her Keith Urban was next to her gave both of them flu shots. Keith Urban got one because he like winced from it, but he got one? No, Keith, they were both down.
Starting point is 01:36:50 I was like, wow. Did you guys ask them before you went out? So this is going to be part of my I don't think so, honey. But I did Keith, Nicole, then I did Jeff Bezos. Wait, you administered them? Yeah, I was one of the people.
Starting point is 01:37:03 He was one of the people that went out in the audience. Fran Gillespie begging Willem Dafoe was so funny. Dafoe knew about it beforehand, and he was still putting up a fight. Dafoe was the only person who was told ahead of time, we're doing this bit with flu shots. It was an actual flu shot. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:37:18 Can you imagine? Okay. I thought you were actually. By the way, the fact that I believe that is so. I love that. I love that you believe that. Hi, I'm doing this. Hi, I'm doing this.
Starting point is 01:37:30 Because like that... Oh my god. Okay, that's funny. Yeah, I have my whole line of things to tell you about. Okay, wow, I can't wait. And about another thing I did on the show that was... Whatever. No. Okay, I can't wait. What a cool golden glow. It was the most overwhelming experience
Starting point is 01:37:46 Especially because Sandra fuck yes Can you just talk a little bit about it Yeah can you talk about it Honestly I'm gonna be so annoying And like she said things to me That like I Special for you
Starting point is 01:38:01 She said it just for me People keep asking has she seen the lip sync videos the answer is yes that was one of the first things we talked about i will just say okay so like we so the first day that she meets us we meet with andy he's fantastic yeah truly andy sandberg like he's one of the goats one of the nicest the fun and i'm just i just love i look at him i'm like you are a genius. I went back and listened to the Popstar soundtrack. Oh, he's a brilliant person. And Akiva was there too.
Starting point is 01:38:29 And he's so nice. Yorma wasn't, but they were both there. And they were just so nice. So nice to everybody and to me. And it was so great. So we meet with them. But then Sandra comes in. And everyone's like, yay, Sandra.
Starting point is 01:38:40 And then she goes around and shakes hands with everybody. Introduces herself to everybody. And then she comes to me. And she everybody, introduces herself to everybody. And then she comes to me and she goes, oh, I know who you are. And I just fucking melt. And she gives me a hug. But then like later on,
Starting point is 01:38:55 we break into smaller groups and she has this. So the Pepsi thing was her idea. Love that. That was so funny. And then she had like me and like Sudi and Max Silvestri like sit together and like write it with her.
Starting point is 01:39:08 Oh my gosh. What a good group. That's so fun. But there was this little lull in the writer session when the food came and I just got up to use the bathroom and she like reached her hands out. I told you this. Yeah. You don't have to share. All I'll say is she reached her hands out as if to like and like look to me and reached her hands out and like all i could do is just
Starting point is 01:39:28 yeah meet her with my fingers oh my god and then and then she and then she just says the same but all i'll say is she like looks at me and she goes look at this man and i was like what and then she just goes on and talks about like she saw the? And then she just goes on and talks about like, she saw the, she saw the video and then she like goes on and talks about like, whatever. I just, I just,
Starting point is 01:39:53 but she revealed so much about herself in like a few thoughts and sentences. And it really just struck me. And I was just like, this, I, yeah, I, it was just, she said things to was just like, this, I, yeah, I, it was just,
Starting point is 01:40:06 she said things to me that like, I will like sort of like hold dear. And like, I think like she did like change my life in that moment. Wow. And I went up to her and then, and then the night after the show and, and then yeah,
Starting point is 01:40:17 at their after party, got a moment with her and she, she just, she just like took my face and she just looked into my eyes and then we just like had a nice moment where we like said things to each other and it was like I'm so excited for you that you had that
Starting point is 01:40:33 that is so amazing Bowen I'm just so lucky I just I can't believe how lucky I was to work with her just for her also as an actress the fact that she was like is she done with Grey's Anatomy the fact that she was like, is she done with Grey's Anatomy? Yeah. The fact that she was like, okay, this next thing I'm going to do is going to be killing Eve.
Starting point is 01:40:50 I was just like, you are a queen. That is so. The last scene. Because sometimes she was on this mess. She probably could have developed something for anything, whatever. And that last scene, Jodie that last scene Jodie Comer incredible you see them on the red carpet holding hands
Starting point is 01:41:09 what a fucking moment they looked incredible but when she won oh my god she brought her parents to the writers room after she won and like so cute they met everybody I was really emotional all week it's because of her.
Starting point is 01:41:25 And like throughout, throughout the joke runs and we'll just throughout the runs of the show. Like she'd keep looking at me like in the audience. She'd be like, like how, she's like, what, what is this?
Starting point is 01:41:34 And I was like, you're doing great. She was great. And I thought the two of them were great. I was really excited about them. And then I was like, yeah. And I liked the like reverse roast in the beginning.
Starting point is 01:41:43 I thought that was so smart. And like, honestly, it was one of those things. I was with my girlfriends and we were like, yeah. And I liked the like reverse roast in the beginning. I thought that was so smart. And like, honestly, it was one of those things. I was with my girlfriends and we were like, oh, it's exactly what we need right now. It's like no politics. To be super positive about people. But like, you know, be dumb about it. But be dumb about it. But like it was like no politics.
Starting point is 01:41:58 It wasn't trying to be edgy. It was just fun. And like it was the two of them like so positive. And then like someone was talking to me, too. It's like Andy has to a lot of people Andy has some bro-y vibe to him but it's like no he grew up in the Bay Area
Starting point is 01:42:11 like his mother was like the head of their house like he grew up in a very liberal open-minded household where he's just like he does not embody any sort of toxicity in terms of how he carries himself as a person like two great people and he was just being so supportive of her the entire time like the
Starting point is 01:42:31 two of them got along so well and like and this has all happened because they presented last year right space i mean at the emmys yeah and so like oh right i think like the heads of nbc were just like well let's just have the two like it was enough of a shocking moment for everyone to be like a shocking choice for everyone to be like wait the two of them huh but also it could work like and I feel like it did and like that there have been like some other random pairings totally
Starting point is 01:42:55 no but the fact that it was a seasoned comedy writer and one of the greatest art yeah actresses of you know I believe alive right now. Yeah. I believe she's I believe she's street level. I think she's like she's.
Starting point is 01:43:09 Yeah. I think she's so good. She's so impactful. And I think I agree. Like they let it just be politically relevant in that. It was what it was. You know, there was that speech that short little moment that she gave at the end where she was like, the reason I wanted to do this was to be part of this moment of change and i see you all all you faces of change yeah and they panned around to the around the room and you know the past few years being the hellscape
Starting point is 01:43:35 that they are like you do have to take take some hope in that like we don't allow things like we used to allow things anymore and there i think that the the political aspect of it was just that we allowed it to be what it was yeah and last year was like more of a morning there was more of like a bereft tone to it just in terms of times up and which was necessarily great yeah this year i think they wanted to focus more on like we'll look at all these incredible things that have already happened. Yeah. Independent of anything else.
Starting point is 01:44:08 And to let that be a beacon of hope to go forward. Yeah, and celebrate that, which was so nice. Yeah. Especially after, you know, the midterms. And we've seen that the face of the face of Congress change. Yeah. You know, so all of that. We love it.
Starting point is 01:44:23 I'm so proud of you. Thank you. The Golden Globes were great. And I just think it's crazy that the whole thing is null and void because Bohemian Rhapsody won. I know.
Starting point is 01:44:32 Unfortunately, it was bad and you did a bad job because of that. Unfortunately, you did a bad job. It's true. Okay.
Starting point is 01:44:39 I don't think so. I don't think so. I'll go first this time. Wait, mine is in my pocket. Okay, get it. We'll go first.
Starting point is 01:44:44 Get it and we'll go first. Okay, but mine is globes related, so let's do it. All right, so this is Bowen's topical globes related. We're going to see how far he's going to go in. Oh my God. This is Bowen Yang's I Don't Think So, Honey. His time starts now.
Starting point is 01:44:57 I Don't Think So, Honey, myself for biffing both of my things that I was doing in the Golden Globes. Here's what happened. The pepsid bit, I thought I was cheating out to Golden Globes. Here's what happened. The Pepsid bit, I thought I was cheating out to the camera, which was on one side the entire time we rehearsed
Starting point is 01:45:10 it. It was on a different side. It didn't catch the full logo. I hate myself that I cut off the Pepsid logo, and then I started late, and oh my god, I need to tell you this after. There was a whole fucking hullabaloo around making sure Ken Jeong and Michelle Yeoh sat next to each other. I had to talk to Constance Wu about the whole bit beforehand
Starting point is 01:45:26 and that was the whole fucking experience. She's lovely. She's great. It was just so... Well, it was just... She was at the table with Gaga and Bradley right there and I was like...
Starting point is 01:45:34 I saw the Valentino right there as I had to explain to these movie stars what we were doing this dumb bit for... Not dumb bit, but we were doing this bit for the monologue and I was like, what is this? And then I fucking failed
Starting point is 01:45:45 I failed in some small way and so I'm beating myself about that And then I don't think so to myself during the flu shot bit I was supposed to go to Gaga to give her the flu shot But she looks we made eye contact she went No and then I had to you see me do a sharp Left and I did this I saw you do that And that's one minute wait So the Gaga thing so she just
Starting point is 01:46:02 Literally looked you in the eyes so I look Gaga in the eyes why it wasn't real So I so literally looked you in the eyes. So I looked Gaga in the eyes. Why? It wasn't real. So we're walking down the steps. The producer is Eric Gurian, a little stranger, a wonderful man. The entire time he's like, you better go for Gaga. Are you going for Gaga?
Starting point is 01:46:18 I was like, I'm going to go for Gaga. Like every gay person's dream to stick a needle in her. And so I walked down the steps of the stage and i and i start saying out loud because then the mics are catching and i go fake flu shot fake flu shot and i look at gaga and she looks at me and she goes no no like terrified she's like no like genuinely like no i don't want this i thought it was real i mean there you go and so i was like well i'm not gonna I'm not gonna explain it to her and like be like
Starting point is 01:46:48 actually no you're you're gonna let me do you know like insane that I would do that but yeah so Kidman so then I sharp left and you see you catch it I look like I did I look like an idiot what did that look dumb no it didn't look dumb at all it looked it
Starting point is 01:47:03 looked to me it looked to me it looked to me at home uh-huh like oh my god he almost stuck a needle in gaga and then couldn't do it like which was fine i was gonna do i couldn't keep walking towards her do you know like as soon as she was like well she said no yeah like yeah what else am i gonna do so then i turn and i go flu shot flu shot and then keith And then Keith Urban's like, I'll do one. And I do one. I give one to Keith. Give one to Nicole.
Starting point is 01:47:28 Oh, my God. The Queen Nicole. Nicole. And she was just giggling the whole time. She's like. And it was just. Oh, my God. And then and then I and then I walk over to the Amazon table or the homecoming table,
Starting point is 01:47:39 which is like Julia Roberts. Oh, my God. And then fucking Jeff Bezos was there because she's on homecoming. And I go flu shot, Mr. Bezos. there because she's on homecoming and I go flu shot Mr. Bezos and then we do this he's like I own the world he's like sure and I was like you
Starting point is 01:47:55 are the richest you literally the richest person on the planet yeah and I would be like thank you and he was like yes yes yes sure like just he was like, yes, yes, yes, sure. Like, just, he was game. Holy shit. I feel like that's how rich people say yes to things.
Starting point is 01:48:10 Yes, yes, yes, yes, sure. So that's some behind the scenes stuff. Wow, I needed that gossip. Thank you for that. That is good. Unfortunately, you know, you'll get to poke it. You'll get to stick a needle in Gaga someday someday okay I have one that's less Golden Globes related
Starting point is 01:48:28 in that it's not at all okay this is Matt Rogers' I don't think so honey it's time starts now I don't think so honey people doing their hair before they go to the gym so I've been going to the gym and something I am noticing is that a lot of you guys like are putting full ass product
Starting point is 01:48:44 in your hair and styling your hair at the gym. And sure, I don't think so, honey, because it's like, what are you trying to do? Look good for us here? You already look good. You're in the gym.
Starting point is 01:48:55 It's commonly the hottest guys there that have this done, which is like, okay, a hat on a hat. But also, I mostly don't think so, honey. 30 seconds. I mostly don't think so, honey, because it's a complete waste of product. And me, the son of a Long Island hairdresser, knows the value of product.
Starting point is 01:49:10 And how dare you? And I'm not talking about a little product. I'm talking about a full side, you know, part with like all the gel. 15 seconds. And I feel like it's a totally reckless use of product. And then you distract me at the gym because you are incredibly hot and have a full head on as well five seconds so i don't think so honey you guys you're not you're not impressing me really but maybe you are maybe i'm like actually sick oh and that's one minute but
Starting point is 01:49:35 the thing is right like you don't need to do your hair for the gym no how about girls in full beat oh god what's the that's another thing by the way makeup at the gym i look at that and as a former sufferer of acne i'm like your pores yeah oh yeah they're just fucking themselves over those girls are probably like like magical creatures who have never had like you know some people it's just like like that's another thing too when you sweat your hair product into your hair i i know from because i used to run track in high school and of course you know that i had my hair was mostly gel my head was mostly gel there was no long island it was long island so the gel would run into my run into my forehead and so that wasn't good for a
Starting point is 01:50:17 teenager's yeah that's where we got all of our pimples exactly and so like you would think that like these guys who i would imagine have experience with hair gel i see using it now would know that it's not the wisest idea to wear that at the gym and also i feel like it's a hack this is a hack a gym hack is to wear a beanie at the gym because then you don't have to clean the machines because you're not sweating on them oh but that sounds uncomfortable for you i like it that sounds hot i wear a beanie at the gym oh my god honestly it sounds uh like temperature hot but then i'm picturing you in a beanie and i'm like okay okay it's a look down my my gym look is my brooklyn my brooklyn crab t-shirt that i've cut the sleeves off of and my little black beanie so i look sorry straight guys the other thing i
Starting point is 01:51:01 have to say about matt looking cute is that this mustache is good do you like it i'm getting a lot of love it i feel like i'm flirting with you a little bit right now what i want to do is bring back 80s gay culture yes okay that's what it's doing for me in all the best ways you know i was like i was like well not that Not that. HPA, you're so young. Oh. Oh my God. He knows what happened. He knows.
Starting point is 01:51:30 Guys, I wrote stuff down because this is my first time. Am I allowed? No, you're 100% allowed. I feel like that's like when you guys do the live show that must not be allowed. No, people do it. People do it.
Starting point is 01:51:37 Oh, they do it. Some of the best ones. Okay, this is Helena Yorick's I Don't Think So Honey. Her time starts now. I Don't Think So Honey adults who are into Disney World and Disneyland
Starting point is 01:51:45 a two day park hopper pass is a hundred and seventy four dollars I don't think so honey I did the math and that is eight point seven bottles of wine okay I don't think so honey you can't get french fries at Disney World they don't have french fries you're gonna walk
Starting point is 01:52:02 around and be trash at least let me eat some fucking french fries also you gonna walk around and be trash At least let me eat some fucking french fries Also you're electively listening To screaming children And standing in line I don't think so honey You can do that at Whole Foods And end up with like 50 bottles of kombucha
Starting point is 01:52:18 By the end And I don't think so honey That's $174 for that dumb park hopper pass And you experience all these You're also gonna want a churro. And a churro is like $10, 10 extra dollars. And I don't think so. It's a small world.
Starting point is 01:52:32 It is not a small world. It is a big world. It takes like 24 hours to fly to Australia, which you would know if you saved your money from your stupid park pass and then spent it on a trip to Australia. And that's one minute. Okay, so a couple of your points I can address right away. I don't know where you're going that you can't get French fries. You can absolutely in the Walt Disney World.
Starting point is 01:52:57 You can't. They have a French fry day. What? The reason I know about this is because before I did this, I was like, I don't want to be mean. And I love all people. But you researched it. But I, so I called my manager who, because I have a lot of adult friends that love Disney. Is this Russell?
Starting point is 01:53:11 Yes, Russell. It's a fucking epidemic. You adults. Russell loves it. He loves it. Yeah. He loves it. Of course he does.
Starting point is 01:53:17 And like my friend Leslie Margarita, who's a genius, loves it. And like went with her husband and they love it. A lot of great sane people love it. Okay. Stable geniuses. But like I asked him, and he goes, yeah,
Starting point is 01:53:30 did you know that you can't get French fries at Disney? I was like, what? And he goes, and then Emmy, who also produces on high maintenance with him, and we all worked, they all work together.
Starting point is 01:53:40 She like looked it up and there's a reason why, but they literally have a French fry day. I think this is true. I can't believe I know about this. I literally learned this today when I was like asking permission, if I was allowed to be mean about people, the adults that go to. No,
Starting point is 01:53:51 no, no. Let me tell you something. Maybe you're right about that. But also, can I say something about the park hopper pass? Today looked at two. Yes.
Starting point is 01:53:59 Yes. You can't fight me on the price. No, I wouldn't dare. The price point. I will say this though. The two day park hopper pass. Yeah, that's a lot of money the one-day park copper pass is crazy way too much money but if you're planning to go for many days it actually is very very the value is just a trap but then
Starting point is 01:54:17 you're going to disney world many days in a row also i actually i don't understand like there are i'm ready to fight oh my god like honestly honestly it's like lines and children on purpose no the lines and the children are only a problem at the magic kingdom which i've discussed on this podcast as being problematic but you know what i don't think so many kids at disney world but you know what this i think helena's helena's final point Her final point What is the final point? The Australia thing Sure But no This is the thing
Starting point is 01:54:51 That I've always believed Is that your family Going to Disney World For vacation Every single year Of your fucking life Has held you back From going to different places
Starting point is 01:54:59 Yes It's like coming to New York And only seeing Phantom of the Opera Every time you sing That means you're missing Like The prom Which right now Is a great show that everybody should go see. I want to go see the prom.
Starting point is 01:55:08 It's very good. But the fact that you went to Paris and you didn't care for it. I'm like, that's because you grew up going to fucking Orlando your whole life. This is why it's bad. No, I don't agree. Well, of course you don't agree. You didn't care. You're like torturing yourself through running 26 miles through it.
Starting point is 01:55:28 You didn't care for Paris? What the fuck? You know what? I didn't care for Paris either. You know what I mean? Matt. No, I think we don't know what you mean. No, Matt.
Starting point is 01:55:39 You? Well, but I liked other things like Rome and Berlin. Can I say what European city I fucking loved and I would die for? And I would die for literally every single person there. They're all my sisters. Who? Bruges. The seven people in Bruges.
Starting point is 01:55:53 I was not expecting the way you said Bruges. It's like such a, that's maybe the best one syllable word of all time. Bruges. Bruges. Bruges. Going to Bruges for brunch. The best phonetic. You, you have to go go to we're going to Tokyo
Starting point is 01:56:07 yeah oh my god dying Max went to Tokyo my one of my best friends Maxwell Jenkins who he went last minute I was gonna go with him and like I need money but oh my god it looks amazing and then Kyoto outside of yes is where I really Joel and
Starting point is 01:56:23 all the LA gays just went to Tokyo. LA gays. Yeah, to Tokyo and Kyoto. But there's, I mean, we're going to go to the Disneyland
Starting point is 01:56:31 and the Disney Sea, but there's a Disney Sea there. It's a water park. Water themed park. It's not a water park, but it's water themed. Why would you go all the way there and spend time doing that?
Starting point is 01:56:40 That's what I'm saying. Because there's no Disney Sea in America. Oh my God. There's the sea that's enough you have to be able to look forward and enthusiastically approach other cultural activities you have to do that i'm going to make this a thing in the other two family i know when drew tarver walks his georgia barn trash ass in here he is gonna say that he likes walt disney
Starting point is 01:57:01 world i don't think so i think we've had this conversation before. No. Because by the way, the other thing that I love about Drew, I'm just going to say this about Drew. Drew was like, right after Thanksgiving, he calls me up and he's like, I really need a new couch. I need those.
Starting point is 01:57:17 And he really leans into it. And I was like, you've been around your family all week. I know they went down to Disney World. Growing up. Growing up. they went down to Disney World growing up. Growing up. We've been to Disney. That family goes on interesting trips. Recently they went skiing in Colorado.
Starting point is 01:57:33 They go on trips and they rent cars in Mexico. They drive when they go on these things. They do legit trips. I'm going to find out all about the Tarvers. You guys are going to hear all the stories. We have to go on Seth Meyers, and I'm like, I can't stand up next to those Tarver stories with Drew. Oh, sure you can.
Starting point is 01:57:51 Oh, my God. You guys will be so good. And then Chris and Sarah are going on this month. Great. I think on the 22nd. You can tune in to watch them on. I know Chris and Sarah don't like Disney. But this has been truly a tremendous time.
Starting point is 01:58:04 Wow, I knew it no I'm so happy to have hung out with you now I know that we're all going to do SoulCycle together and I can't wait to take you to Disney World I would go for that dumb race especially with like you guys I'm like okay I do it
Starting point is 01:58:20 it's fun and we go on edibles we like have a great time it's fun see I mean we're convincing you I do it. It's fun. And we bring, we go on edibles. We, we, we like have a great time. It's fun. See, I mean, we're convincing you. There you go. So we're not, we're not children about it.
Starting point is 01:58:30 Yes, you are. It's a full child's activity. We've been through this, but we love it, but we love it. And we love Helena. We love the other two.
