Starting point is 00:00:00 Emotions get hype, man, I get it. I understand, but you guys got, when we say something, she went berserk. Crazy, though. Yeah. This online feud escalated into real-life consequences for a West Virginia woman. She claims that another woman had hacked into her phone, stolen her nude photos, and opened a cash app account in her own name. But when she interprets what a police officer has to say is him refusing to help her, she apparently loses control. Obviously, you don't know the law.
Starting point is 00:00:30 her to school, bro. Have a good day. You can't do nothing because they made a cash app in my name, my name, and you're telling me you can't do nothing, bro. No, you can't. I tried to explain, you screaming me
Starting point is 00:00:44 and won't let me talk. No, you think I'm trying to show you in it. We got our hands on the wild body cam video, so strap in, I will tell you, this is a wild one. Welcome to Sidebar, presented by law and crime. I'm Jesse Weber.
Starting point is 00:01:15 It's just after midnight. on October 9th, 2022. And an officer in Martinsburg, West Virginia is responding to a call in an apartment just up the street from the police department. Now, this woman inside is afraid, afraid that a person that she's in an online feud with could come to her home. So I want you to start off. We're going to start here. So I want you to listen as she does her best to explain to the officer what's been going on. Hi, how are you done?
Starting point is 00:01:43 Good. I just had a cop here. Yeah. I've already talked to them about the situation. Okay. So I'm good. Okay. Yeah, that's what they just said that you guys called back. Yeah, if I'm going to continue to be harassed by officers because of this girl, I'm going to file charges because it's wasting your time, and it's wasting,
Starting point is 00:02:00 and it's keeping me and my family up. Okay. She is, I'm going to get her for some, if you want to come in, I'm going to get her for some charges already. Okay. Apparently, I'm being accused of hacking into her. account and her name.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Okay. Um, being well, there already sounds heard on it's not a lot. I had
Starting point is 00:02:26 her Facebook information due to, in her chat, due to her talking, basically trying to get my
Starting point is 00:02:33 husband for raping her, which is not the case at all. Okay. He never did. He never touched her.
Starting point is 00:02:40 She's also saying that he tried to do something when we were sleeping in the bed together and I was there. That never
Starting point is 00:02:45 happened at all. Okay. Um, once her friend figured out that I was behind the Snapchat hack and all that stuff, which I did because you've tried to get my husband for a second. I never texted anyone off of her account. I never did nothing. It was a little like, change your name, change her password, be done. Gotcha. There's the, there's the, I'm not one to break the wall.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Okay. And then the Facebook situation, I did that because I'm finding out that she was trying to, to come here to, and she did actually come here when the officer was here, the blog truck when I never came out, that she's coming here to beat my ass because of it. Okay. And her friend, now, I logged off of her account, because I will. That's all civil and that's not criminal. I took screenshots, yeah, but I took screenshots of this.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Because they're accusing me of having her new pictures on my phone, which I never had any pictures of her on my phone. Okay. accusing me of taking money, making accounts of cash app and ordering things off of Amazon and so on and so forth on her stuff in her name. That's never been done. I don't even know how to do that. They're saying that I'm using her social security number. Never had her social security number.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Don't have any, you know, like all of these things. And it's her friend that is telling her all of this, I guess getting into her head saying that I have all of this information. which I am 22 years old. I live in a house like this, and how do I, in the right mind, have that sort of power? You know what I mean? Like, I'm not techie. Like, I'm not, I don't have all of this power to do something like that.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Okay. So now you were the, I call it the first cop, because I found out she was on her way here with her toxic boyfriend who is 40 years old. She is 23, and he has put her hand. He has put his hands on her, choked her, beat her from everything that she has told me. Okay. I've met him before. He looks like that type of person.
Starting point is 00:04:55 I just, the fear that when I met him, because I went and got him because he was holding her hostage in a hotel. So my husband and I went and got him, brought her here. So that way she was okay. Okay. So now this toxic guy who beats women knows where I live. And that is my fear. You know what I mean? That's my worry.
Starting point is 00:05:16 That's why I called the cop the other time. Not because she wanted to beat me up. Because in all honesty, like, I'll plow her. If she's going to put a hand on me, I'm going to defend myself. And then I'm going to call the cop and be like, listen, like, get me if you want to. But she put her hands on me and I knocked her off her ass. Like, you're not going to do that to me. But the reason I don't do that is because, you know, she hasn't put a hand on me.
Starting point is 00:05:41 But she's bringing this very violent guy who is much older than me. He's basically my dad in the years, you know, and I'm not going to put me, my husband, or my father, who has state-trived kidney failure and seizures in danger. Okay. But you explained up much. I sure did. I just don't, like, I am going to be handling anything that happens. I was just coming to make sure that you're okay.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Oh, no, I'm not okay. I'm completely paranoid and I'm going out the window. Which I understand. But if anyone comes or anything like that, just gives us a call. We're literally right there. Just gives us a call. show up, take care of whatever. But for anything, like, further,
Starting point is 00:06:19 Pugh's going to be taken care of whatever. So if you have screenshots, whatever you need to give to him, did he give you an email and whatnot? No, he did not. After he left, I even offered to show him the messages when he's here, because at the time he was here, I was still logged into her Facebook
Starting point is 00:06:34 to kind of, for my safety purpose. Like, that was very important. Okay. I just don't want to wake up one morning and see that everything is just, I don't, I honestly don't believe there. I'm not really in the mood to go to jail for having this girl's picture and comeate and posting her naked pictures on.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I gotcha. And I understand that. That's not what I do. But that's, what satisfaction do I get out of that? Understandable. But, you know, jail. If anything, if anyone comes here or anything like, just gives a call, okay? Okay. Okay, yeah, that's, I'm just, I'm tired.
Starting point is 00:07:06 I got you. You know, I just kind of have, I had my fun tonight, you know. Yeah, it's a laughing manner. But then now it's, I'm just, I'm tired of, you know. well, you know, I deleted her pictures and now she is very mad. Well, you know, please don't accuse my husband of doing something like that while I'm in the bed. I got you. I got you.
Starting point is 00:07:23 You know, know, know your line. I got you. Just, like I said, if anyone comes here, like, looking to call is trouble or anything like that, just give us a call. We're literally right there. A couple hours later, that same officer is notified that the two people allegedly threatening to come by the other woman's house are now outside the police station in the parking lot. And they were later identified as Gary Prib and Anna Rose Town. So Thompson tries to explain her side of things, but she's getting really worked up and her boyfriend keeps trying to interject, which by the way, only makes things worse. Hi.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Hi. How's going? Good, I guess. So what's going on? I've been waiting two hours for somebody to come talk to me. Boy, you told us you're on college street. No, no, no, no, no. We said, stop, I'll talk to him.
Starting point is 00:08:12 She said that's where the people that are doing this. You need to calm down. I need to call them down. Yes. Get in the car. Please don't start your . I know you're pissed off. I know you're pissed off, but shut your mouth for a second.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Shut the fuck up. Just shut the fuck up. I know they're ignorant, but it's not my fault. It's not his fault either. No, I was calling about the people who live right there because she's hacked into my Snapchat. She's hacked into my Google account. She's made a snap or she's made a cash app with my. my name asking people for money. She has taken my personal pictures. I've taken nudes for myself
Starting point is 00:08:53 because I am a session with my own body and there's nothing wrong with that. And she has taken something on her phone where she can take stuff from my phone and get it on her phone. And she made a Meet Me app and she's trying to send my inappropriate pictures to other people and pretending to be me and order stuff from Amazon under my name. She's got something on her phone that lets her... My friend, my friend, her boyfriend used to cheat on her, so I let her do her thing, and she found all this out for me, and she was sending me all the information. Yeah, I'm not sure how any of that works, and I don't know how they would be able to mirror your phone for anything. I don't know, but.
Starting point is 00:09:29 She'd have to have your passwords to do that. I don't know how that's possible because we had my email. Listen to what I'm saying. She had my email. You can hack somebody through their email with email. You're not listening to me. You're listening to what you think. is right, which I understand.
Starting point is 00:09:46 But I have all this. I have, and she's hacked into my phone. Into my phone. I can't get her out. She's actually physically on my phone. She can watch everything that I do, whoever the hell I text, and everything else. And that's all you can tell me to do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I changed my . She's hacked onto my phone. And she's throwing my shit away, and she's sitting people my news, and she's got a cash app. You want to see it? Clear, back in the car. Ten 8. I don't want to see any pictures.
Starting point is 00:10:16 No, you're going to see it. I don't want to see it. No, your bad. Your little camera can see it. Look, I don't give a . I don't give a . Do not show me any pictures. What, you guys, you don't want proof?
Starting point is 00:10:28 You don't want proof? No, I don't want to see any pictures. You don't want to see any pictures of you inappropriate. No, I don't want to say anything. I'm not talking about inappropriate. I'm talking about the cash ad. Okay, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:10:38 You guys have a good day. Now, at one point the officer tries to walk away, but Prib is close behind. Listen, I was, listen, I was trying, stop, stop, stop. Let me get your name and badge number. We're allowed to be upset. I'm 44 guests.
Starting point is 00:10:52 I don't give a, I, don't give a, the job is to try and calm us down. You are yelling at me and not let me explain myself. Move, move. Okay, I can't explain myself. I try to explain myself, too. You're screaming at me. Because you're not listening, you refuse to listen.
Starting point is 00:11:05 You can't get a good day. I have a good day. I don't have a card. I don't have a card. The officer tries to walk away again and turns off the audio from his body camp. But when he turns it back up, Thompson and Preeb, they are both screaming at him. It's going to read what you're only.
Starting point is 00:11:21 I was trying to talk to you like an adult. You don't want to talk. You called me a bastard. Go ahead. It's your job. Good. To try and calm her down. No.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Yes. Nope. Obviously, you don't know the law. Nope. And you're saying, just change your . You can't do nothing because they made a cash app in my name, my name and you're telling me you can't do nothing, bro. No, you can't.
Starting point is 00:11:44 No, I tried to explain. You screaming me, will let me talk. No, you think I'm trying to show you in it growing me and 30. You will let me talk. Because you don't care. No, I'm done. I'm done. uphold the law and protect citizens.
Starting point is 00:12:13 This is a secure parking lot. Step out. Goodbye. Goodbye. You're letting me. Have a good day. Have a good day. I didn't say anything.
Starting point is 00:12:26 You wouldn't let me talk. You wouldn't let me talk. 44, my God. Okay. The caller's being very uncooperative. You can go ahead and clear it out. 10-8. Be careful.
Starting point is 00:12:46 He almost makes it all the way back inside the police station, but apparently changes his mind, and that is when things really fall apart. If you continue to yell in my parking lot, I'll arrest you for disturbing the peace. Do you understand me? Okay. Yeah, and you're disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Leave or go to jail. We're trying to leave or go to jail. You're keep yelling. Leave or go to jail. Leave or go to jail. Get in your car or go to jail. Get in your car. You're going to go to go.
Starting point is 00:13:21 No, I don't have to go anywhere. This is my building. Yes, you do. Leave or go to jail. Are you, are you yelling? You do. I've been videotiving the whole time. So leave or go to jail.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Leave or go to jail. No. Obstruction. You're already leaving. Now you're coming to harassing us. You're going to keep cussing and yelling at me? You're harassing us. That's disturbing the peace.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Disterming the piece of sort of conduct. Harassment. Because I asked you to leave. We were getting to leave. in the car and you are. You are. Obstructing is me telling you to leave. You're not leaving.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Obstruction, leave. We were trying to. Leave. If you could do your job, I'd be satisfied. Are you still yelling? This is still disorderly conduct to serve them the peace. You won't listen.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I'll take you both to jail. You won't listen. Okay, so do you want to go to jail? We were going to our car and then you came out. I'm not doing. Go get in your car or go to jail. I'll do my job. I'll put you both in jail.
Starting point is 00:14:23 You're not doing. That's not your job, bro. Put me in jail for what? I'm not doing anything. I'm not doing anything. I was leaving. You're helping me. Are you going to resist? I'm not doing anything.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Your job was to try and help. Hey, Adam. Stop. Stop. Stop. Helping me. Stop. Stop.
Starting point is 00:14:50 No. Fortyfoot, Margeberg. I got one resisting. I'm not doing nothing. Stop. You're not recording. Hey? I got one resisting.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Put your arms behind your back. Put your arms behind your back. The parking line outside. You're just, Put your arms behind your back. You're pulling away from me. No, I'm not. It's all my body cam.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Stop. You're pulling yourself, bro. Come with me. You're under arrest. 95 of the female. You're not taking me. I didn't do anything. I am for you.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Under arrest. You grab them. You still resisting. Baby, it's in my pocket. Because I said, you're going to jail. Stop. I don't give a . Touch my phone.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Touch my phone. Okay. Give me your phone. No. No, it doesn't. Her phone comes with me. Peace . Can I get another unit here, please? Is there anyone close to him?
Starting point is 00:16:17 I'm not doing anything. Get the hell off of me! You're going to jail! You're... You can't. You can't. Come here. There's nothing. It's her phone. She has to be...
Starting point is 00:16:33 Come here! Come here! Come here now! You're under... For what? ...trip recording it, babe. How am I obstructing? I got her phone. I got you.
Starting point is 00:16:45 He's allowed to have my phone. My phone. I'm going to I'm doing it. Stop going away. Because you're alone. Because you're a lot. Give me a minute.
Starting point is 00:20:18 So according to a police report, Thompson spit at two officers. So she was taken over to the jail for further processing. Preeb is kept at the police station where he's calmed down significantly. All right, well, I'm going to go straight through here. Just two down. I just did. Yep, pretty good. Go straight through here.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Second door when you're right there. You can actually, what is this, a room key in $10? key in $10? You can hold on that. They'll take it for me at the jail, but you're not going to get trouble for it. They're not going to take it from you, but you're not going to get trouble for Adlerman. Now, how does this... Sit back there for me and have a seat. I'm going to type you stuff up real quick. How do you have this is work? Because I know every place is different. What do you mean? What you're talking about? Because tomorrow's Sunday.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Yeah. Technically today is Sunday, yes. There should be a magistrate from what I understand should be coming in. Like they come in every day, even on the weekends. I know they do Saturdays. I'm not 100%. Don't quote me on it because I'm 100% about Sundays. But I know they come in on Saturdays. I would assume they come in on Sundays as well. And that's, and I mean, I could tell you, you're mad when I got there. That's all I was like I was trying to just say, hey, man, just call, because Pew was actually handling it.
Starting point is 00:21:31 That was the prior shift. He's the one handling the investigation. So I was trying to explain to you guys any questions. You can contact Pew and he'll be able to give you more information. Yeah, I was good. It was just people, because I was going to call it later. or have her call they Emotions get hype, man, I get it.
Starting point is 00:21:52 I understand, but you guys got when we say something, she went berserk. Crazy, though. Yeah. And like, I told you, don't touch the phone. Just don't touch it. You know what I mean? Just don't touch it.
Starting point is 00:22:03 I didn't think picking it up would get me arrested, though. I didn't want to arrest you. I was arrested her because she wasn't stopped yelling. And I gave her the option. And you didn't want her, so I picked up the phone because I didn't want anything else to happen to it.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Plus, I mean, you see the screen. Oh, when we arrest her. when we arrest someone, the property immediately comes with us. So that was her phone, it comes with us. That's why I said, don't touch it. I'm going to grab and bring it. Not giving it to you. Well, I asked you and you said no. Well, yeah, because you were giving her.
Starting point is 00:22:31 I'm not going to give it to you and risky at that moment, dropping it or risk her something and completely breaking it. That was not the thought process. It wasn't no, you can't. She needs the phone. Yeah, she was going to go to jail with her. That's what I'm saying. She needs it for contacts.
Starting point is 00:22:50 but my thought process is if I try and give her to him now she's gonna try and kick it up or do something stupid and get herself in more trouble and you got me in trouble yeah she definitely got you because I was literally ready to leave
Starting point is 00:23:06 because I understand you guys are mad and I couldn't get to the I tried and she kept yelling and I was like okay you've done it even you saw me like I had her and I tried
Starting point is 00:23:16 I tried to let her go and I said just go and then she came back and I said what are we obstructing It's disillic conduct But that's why I was asking Question Yeah
Starting point is 00:23:26 And that's I tried to explain And she wouldn't I don't know if she's because she's young Didn't want to listen Can you stand up here for me? I mean I got it Yeah I can't let you Someone just sit there and yell and screaming
Starting point is 00:23:39 Yeah no The whole phone thing is just what Yeah Pretty much because If you did If you had just let her get arrested It'd have been good Because I wasn't planning on arresting you at that time
Starting point is 00:23:49 But I mean it's a bit Mr. Meader, everybody learns from this, hopefully. Hopefully she learns. Okay, so according to court records, Thompson faced four charges obstructing two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer in disorderly conduct. As part of a plea deal, the obstructing charge and one of the battery on a law enforcement counts, they were dropped. She ended up pleading guilty to the other battery count plus a disorderly conduct charge, and she was sentenced to 30 days of home confinement. Preeb was charged with obstructing an officer. He entered a guilty plea, which
Starting point is 00:24:21 went on his record, but no other punishment was levied against him. This is per the court document. But then you go just a few months later. And Preeb would reportedly be arrested for the armed robbery of two businesses, one of which he was apparently fired from. Both businesses were Jackie's restaurant locations. So one was hit in December of 2022. The other was robbed in January of 2023. Preeb reportedly had a knife on him when he demanded money. And according to reporting from West Virginia Metro News, law enforcement caught up to Preeb at a hotel room in Leesburg, Virginia. Turns out, he also had a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender for the second time. This is according to the outlet. And in July of 2024, according to
Starting point is 00:25:00 court records, Prieb was convicted and he was sentenced to spend 32 years in the West Virginia Department of Corrections. Remember when I said this is a wild ride?
