Wittick has filed a civil lawsuit against Dobrick seeking 10 million in damages following a stunt gone wrong. Now, a video viewed 13 million times on TikTok has set off a rumor mill about what lawyer Dobrick might retain. But what are the facts? Welcome to Sidebar, presented by Law and Crime.

I'm Bobby Zoki. In 2021, Dobrick orchestrated a stunt that involved swinging his friends around using a rope tied to an excavator bucket. Whittick alleges that when it was his turn, Doberk became reckless, swinging the machine around at unsafe speeds, causing Wittick to collide with the machinery and suffer numerous injuries. Now, Wittick is suing Doberk on the grounds of general negligence and intentional tort, claiming that the stunt caused him to miss out on work and left him with countless medical bills from multiple surgeries. But here's where it gets interesting.

With Doberk facing the multimillion-dollar suit, fans believe Doberk will be represented by none other than Johnny Depp's lawyer, Camille Vasquez. During the Depp v. Heard defamation trial, Vasquez rose to fame on social media for her excellent representation of Depp and legendary cross-examinations of Amber Heard. This rumor surfaced after a video posted to TikTok in May showed Attorney Ben Shue telling Ms. Vasquez, have a great talk with David Dobrick. It's important to note that this short conversation took place while the Dept v. Heard trial was still underway. What this means is that not only did Vasquez garner attention from social media, but also from big names in the entertainment industry.

Now, to be clear, we don't know for sure whether her call with Dobrick ever took place or was about this particular lawsuit. All we know is that a meeting between the two was scheduled, according to Ben Chu. But this begs the question of which celebrities Vasquez is going to represent in the next few years. She has obviously caught the attention of David Dobrick, but who else has their eyes set on her for future representation? With her stellar performance in the Deptrial, some have even compared her to Johnny Cochran, the lawyer famous for getting an acquittal for O.J. Simpson.
