As all of these names have been revealed in connection with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirator Galane Maxwell, we're focusing on details about someone else. Epstein's former private chef and his celebrity connections. Welcome to Sidebar, presented by Law and Crime. I'm Jesse Weber. As we continue to cover the Jeffrey Epstein saga, there is one name we haven't talked about yet.
Starting point is 00:00:39 So Epstein, of course, is the financier who died in his jail cell back in 2019 as he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. We remember he had already pled guilty back in 2008 to state charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution. He did this down in Florida. It was a controversial deal at the time because it allowed Epstein. to avoid prosecution on even more severe federal charges. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, spent most of that time in a work release program where he spent the day at his office and went back to his cell at night. But then you fast forward years later, and he was arrested on those more severe federal
Starting point is 00:01:17 sex trafficking charges. Speaking of which, Galane Maxwell, his accomplice, she was convicted of sex trafficking charges of her own in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years behind bars. Now, as we have gone through all of these recent. released and unsealed documents, and we've been focusing on what happened in this absolutely depraved world, there is one name we haven't talked about yet, and that is Adam Perry Lang. Now, you may not know that name at first mention, but Mr. Lang is a celebrity chef based
Starting point is 00:01:49 out of Los Angeles. Now, I'm not going to talk about his cuisine, his cooking techniques, rather the reason his name is being brought up is because he accompanied billionaire Jeffrey. Epstein on many of his travels as his private chef. That's the allegation. That's according to Virginia Joufrey, one of Epstein and Maxwell's accuser. She claims that she was sexually assaulted by Epstein, trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell to high-profile men and associates of the duo.
Starting point is 00:02:18 And by the way, the reason all of these documents have come out and why we're dedicating so many sidebars to this is because all of these documents, they were part of a lawsuit that Joufrey had filed and settled against Galane Maxwell. But it was reported that Ms. Joufrey reached out to Mr. Lange back in 2014 before she even filed the lawsuit in the hopes that he could back up her claims about Epstein and Maxwell. On the podcast called Broken Seeking Justice, Joufrey says that Lange prepared drinks and food for high-powered guests and these young females. According to investigative reporter Tara Pomeri, quote, several young women.
Starting point is 00:02:57 who we've talked to remember Lang too. He had a presence in the house, all said he was very polite. And Jufre followed that up by saying and pondering, quote, who could place these people that I was trafficked out to in the various locations? I was like, well, Adam can. Adam was there. Adam saw the people. Adam had to serve the people.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Adam had to know their names. He saw all of us naked all the time. And Jufre would go on to explain to Palmieri on the podcast, quote, he used to talk to me like I was a person. Even if I was standing naked in front of him, he wouldn't be there ogling me. He would be looking directly at my face and we had wonderful moments together. Now, it's also been reported that Lang's name appeared on the flight logs for Jeffrey Epstein's plane that he traveled with him all the time. In fact, materials seem to show that Lang flew on Epstein's private jet multiple times in the early 2000s to places like Florida, New Mexico, Virgin Islands.
Starting point is 00:03:52 In fact, the pilot of the so-called Lolita Express, as it's been dubbed, said in a deposition back in 2016 that Lang had stayed at Epstein's townhouse in Manhattan, too. Now, to be clear, it is our understanding that there is no mention of any wrongdoing by Lang, that he didn't participate in any of this, or whether he even knew about what Epstein was doing with all of these young women and young girls. In fact, in a 2019 statement, Mr. Lang said, quote, almost 20, years ago, as a young chef, I was hired to work for Jeffrey Epstein. My role was limited to meal preparation. I was unaware of the depraved behavior and have great sympathy and admiration for the brave women who have come forward. In 2020, Lang's attorney reportedly told the Daily Beast that Lang was cooperating with New York prosecutors who were investigating Epstein's sex ring. But now here is one of the reasons why Lang's name is coming up now.
Starting point is 00:04:45 He opened a restaurant in Hollywood called APL back in 2018. It actually closed in 2022. And Lang was friends with host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel. In fact, Lang had appeared on Jimmy Kimmel live several times showing off his barbecue skills. Kimball had visited the APL restaurant. There's reporting that he might have had an investment or supported the APL restaurant. But take a look at this clip. Can I have to slice this? I would love to slice it.
Starting point is 00:05:15 One of my things, as you know, is this board dressing. I basically take olive oil, herbs. This is a great thing to do. after you've cooked, because I follow your recipes in your cookbook, after you've made the meat, then you put it on the board, you cut it up, and you just kind of slather it around in this dressing.
Starting point is 00:05:30 I want to gift you something. What's my gift? Well, I have two George Dickel barrels. Is he in there? No, no. You have a barrel? That's a real barrel of whiskey? I have two barrels, and since he's such a good friend, I'm giving you one. You see that?
Starting point is 00:05:46 Friends Give Friends Whiskey. So there's this connection between the two men, right? The two men even have been described as having a meat-loving bromance. In fact, Kimmel said that Lang was once a chef on his show. There was a weird turn in 2019. I'll talk about that real quick. So Lang was actually arrested on Kimmel's property back in 2019, yet police had responded to a call about someone being shot
Starting point is 00:06:12 and that there were bombs being planted around Jimmy Kimmel's Hermosa Beach house. Lang was living there. Police get there. they take Lang into custody, but it turns out this initial 911 phone call was a prank. It was a form of swatting, really unfortunate to hear that. But you get an idea of the relationship between the two men. You know when I do this podcast, I'm conscious about what I wear. This is not by accident.
Starting point is 00:06:35 I want to be presentable to all of you. And there is a place that I want to tell you about where you can find clothing to buy and a whole host of other things to buy. It's called Deal Dash. What is that? Glad you asked. Deal Dash is an auction website. It's been around for 14 years.
Starting point is 00:06:49 and they are now a proud sponsor of Sidebar. They have awesome deals, super exciting auctions. The way it works is you buy bids and then you bid on things that start $0. Everything on the site starts at $0. And they gave me, Jesse Weber from Long Crime Sidebar, $100, which came out to $770. And let me tell you when I say, I'm bidding hard right now on these psycho tuna bathing suits. I mean, Summer's right around the corner. I want them.
Starting point is 00:07:14 No, I need them. Okay. So what's the catch? Well, you got to pay up front to bid. So, for instance, here, after you sign up, they ask you to buy 400 bids for 30 bucks, which means you can bid 400 times in any of their auctions. And by the way, they have some seriously quality items, like this brand new Jeep that someone won for $1,875, a Nintendo Switch for $22.
Starting point is 00:07:35 That's Deal Dash for everyone. No, some of the auctions can take hours or even days on end. So you need to invest time for bidding. But if you like bidding on auctions and you've got the time on your hands to figure out how it works, you can get some pretty sweet deal. So check out DealDash.com. When you sign up, use my promo code Law Crime 100 and you get 100 extra free bids on your first bid pack purchase.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And if you don't win an auction using these bids or you don't like it for any reason, contact DealDash, you get your money back, no questions asked on your first bid pack purchase. So the downside is really limited. It's worth a try. Now, once you're done finishing this episode of Sidebar, of course, you can check out DealDash.com slash Law Crime 100. All right. So with all of that in mind, why are we?
Starting point is 00:08:18 talking about Mr. Lang right now. Well, right before the first documents were released in the Maxwell-Joufrey lawsuit from last week, we told you about a comment from New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers, who joked on the Pat McAfee show that Kimmel's name might appear in the court paperwork. A lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, are really hoping that doesn't do. If that list comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle. Now, Jimmy Kimmel wasn't very happy. happy at this. In fact, he tweeted at Rogers, exed at Rogers, I'll never get that right,
Starting point is 00:08:54 threatening legal action if the football player continued to connect him to Epstein. He wrote, quote, Dear A-Hull, for the record, I've not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any list other than the clearly phony nonsense that soft brain wackos like yourself can't seem to distinguish from reality. Your reckless words put by family in danger. Keep it up, and we will debate the facts further in court. As a lawyer, it seems to me, he's suggesting potentially a defamation kind of action, right? When you present a false statement that you know is untrue or you acted with utter disregard for the truth, you made that statement, you published it, you're harmed as a result of it.
Starting point is 00:09:36 So look, as of right now, Jimmy Kimmel hasn't filed any kind of action, but I do want to tell you what the impact of this has been. So since then, some conspiracy theorists have used Kimmel's connections to Lang and Lang's connection to Epstein to draw an inference. I think that's the best way to say it. I'm going to give you an example. There was an account on X called Myth Informed, and they posted a clip of the video of Lang and Kimmel, which went viral with now over 700,000 views at the time of this writing. And it was accompanied by the comment, quote, Jimmy Kimmel and his BFF Adam Perry Lang, who is Jeffrey Epstein's personal chef for years. So you see people making that connection.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Now, to be clear, Kimmel's name has not appeared in any of the unsealed court documents and nor has there been any allegation that Jimmy Kimball knew about what was happening with Jeffrey Epstein or partook in anything with Jeffrey Epstein. I want to make that very clear. As for Aaron Rogers, he made a follow-up appearance on the Pat McAfee show, denying that that's what he meant by saying Kimball's name was associated with or on the Epstein list. talked about a beef that he has had with Kimmel in the past, this late-night talk show host, making fun of him on his shows,
Starting point is 00:10:49 and Rogers also criticized ESPN's senior VP who admonished Rogers for what he said about Kimmel. Let you know McAfee owns and licenses his show to ESPN, by the way. All right, so a little interesting connection right there, a little update on the Jeffrey Epstein saga. So if you had heard about Adam Perry Lang, now you know why we're talking about it. That is all we have for you right now here on Sidebar.
