Starting point is 00:00:39 This is a podcast where we help the galleys in need. Whether you've been brushing your teeth for a week after an Italian man licked your braces. Or you're still deciding whether or not a nan or a baguette can be thrown the furthest. This is the podcast for you. Well, thankfully for producer Izzy's innovative, you know, content planning strategy, we have now found out what you can throw further, a nan or a baguette. So we arrived to the podcast this morning. Izzy has a packet to garlic non.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Sorry, garlic and coriander. I'm ever say sorry, it was garlic and coriander. Did you get that wrong? Very important. Changes the aerodynamics. Garlic and coriander naan. Yeah. And a long, crusty French white baguette.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Delish, which I actually could have trailed down on, but once it had been thrown, it didn't look so good. I have to say, the structural engineering of that baguette was fucking good. Because how are they doing that? Because that is special. Because to get that kind of glaze and that, like, doughy, minis. and then the firm outs. That is phenomenal, really. Anyway, so there we were in the middle of the road.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Bear in mind, this is a street where, like, serious people work. I know. We're near, like, chance three lanes. So people here work in, like, serious jobs. Like, they're not throwing large and forgets for a lull. No, they're not. They're not.
Starting point is 00:01:54 They were looking at them. Well, it wasn't for a lot. It was for work. So it wasn't a lull. Obviously. Obviously, I don't think it's a lull. Sure. I think it's seriously.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Right. But they, they're derogatory of our workplace. are. Yeah, yeah, they look down on it. They do. Of course they do. Sorry, can I just say, it felt really nice to, like, go to sports day. I haven't, like, thrown a javelin or a discus in a long, long time. I don't think I ever threw javelin. Were you a runner?
Starting point is 00:02:21 Yeah, we had to do running. No, but you do both. No, I'm so sure I've never done. But you do field or track. Oh, no. It depends what you're good at. Yeah, yeah, like, I was always field. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Hated track. I would shoot a track, but I offered to... Sometimes I didn't relay. Like, I would sprint. Oh, I liked relay. Yeah, fun. Relay is the most stressful sport. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Yeah. Oh, do you miss that. Oh, my God. You're in a world of playing. I can only imagine how much time the Olympic relay athletes spend. Just practicing this. Just hand to bat on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Baton to hand. Yeah. Hand to bat on. So I thought it's going to be none, isn't it? And this was been, like, I changed my hinge profile to have this prompt. Because this gorgeous galley, like, last week if you didn't hear basically where this was originated. Yeah, this is so random if you missed last week's app.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Sorry, guys. So she wrote in and she said, one of the best prompts that you can have on your dating apps is, do you think you could throw a non-orgette further? And obviously, we were like, why would anyone find that interesting? But we were kind of saying like, maybe that's what boys find funny. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Lo and behold, that's what boys find funny. But let me just tell you, potentially not the right kinds of, boys because I didn't I will do it I promise this week I will screenshot when they reply to it but I did get quite a lot of replies but I can now see that none of them are sat in my matches which means that I read their replies to the Narn and Baguette and I thought you're not for me. Got it. Do with that what you will girls. Got it.
Starting point is 00:03:55 So you know add it at your own risk is all I'll say. I'm going to keep it there for another week and I'll let you know next week what responses I had. Yeah. I was a little hasty this week. I was a little desperate this week. I was a little like you know when I get a bit like I'm a bit like I'm a little oh, like the state of the world is so sad and there's no one to date and no one fit.
Starting point is 00:04:13 And then I went on a bit of spring and I've got like all these matches that I like don't want to talk to. So that's your job later. I haven't done that for a long time. I need to sit alone with that phone. Because all of them, what is wrong with these men? Sorry. Sorry to, you know, rant about this. But they all match with you and then they say nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I'm like, what you want me to message you? Yeah, that's jarring. I've got nothing to say to you. That's jarring. I will do it. I will do it. You will message first. Come on, give me one.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Let's do one now. No, no, no. We've got much to talk about. It's like, she's an iPad kid. You have to give her designated time. So true. With the dating ads. So true.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Anyway, I knew. I just thought it'll be a Narn, surely, because you're just lobbing like a Frisbee. And lo and behold, I did throw the Narn further than the baguette. Well, the Narn is lighter. I did throw the baguette further, but my non throwing, you know, requires them quite serious. But I will be going to Narn throwing training school. Yeah, you were in the young.
Starting point is 00:05:06 I need to go back to Narn school. because whatever I was doing wasn't working. You were in the bunkers. But I think I can concur because Izzy also threw the nun really far. Really far. Thank you. So I think I can confirm. On behalf of Team Leave a message, NAN's travel further.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So that is good to know if you are going to change your prompt so that if this like, you know, a little boy comes along and is like, oh, I could throw a baguette further, you'd be like, I'd like to see you try. I do think it's a fun game for like a hen. Yes. A birthday party, even a baby shower. Yeah, why not? know, there's a lot of things that time you need to fill at a baby shower because you can't
Starting point is 00:05:40 fucking drink. So just get some nuts and forget. Is that the etiquette that no one else drinks at baby showers? No, I think that's not the etiquette. But like, you just basically sit down and just talk about the baby. There's only so long that you can do that. So only so much to say about the baby that's not here yet. We don't even know what it looks like. I saw this fucking hilarious meme the other day that was like, it is so fucking rude that my best friend like would rather has like ditched me to spend time with her baby. Like she's literally doing that baby. two weeks and she's known me 10 years. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:06:09 And what that baby's your best friend? Bullshit. Once again, people are so fickle, honestly. So, so fickle. We were talking about this the other day, Izzy, because we were saying things we silently judge people for, girls who say that their boyfriend is their best friend. 100% agree. Also, specifically girls, because when boys say, oh, I believe you, you've never had a friend
Starting point is 00:06:31 like this. Like, I, of course. Of course, I'm your best friend because you've never had, you've never known a friendship. You don't know friendship. But like, if you're a girl with female friendships and you say your boyfriend's your best friend, I will silently judge you for that because you're doing something wrong. I agree. In your friendships.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I agree. Because it's not, it's unmatched. So you won't be saying that in your vows? I said, I know for a fact, I'm going to sit at her wedding and she's going to stand up there in her vows. And I know she's going to say, babe. And you're my best friend. And I'm honestly going to be shades on like this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I will pay you, 500 pounds. 100. 500 pounds if I stand up there and say raw you're my best. I'm not going to say that. I think you were. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. I will find another way to say love you so fucking much. You are one of my favourite people. It's not the same as you're my best friend. It's not. True. Because one of is imperative. You're my best fiance. If you say you're my favourite person in the world, I'll be like, also I'll be like, as you should say that. Like I don't mind for. Ha ha, ha, everyone, you can think, like, for the optics. I don't mind if any of my best friends stand up there and say, I genuinely don't mind if you say you're my best friend.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I know the truth. I'm not going to. The girls know the truth. Do you know what I mean? Like, why do you think we have bridesmates? Do you know what I mean? Yes, babe. Why does that exist?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Yes, babe. Just saying. Like, not that I'm a bridesmaid. No, but sorry. Actually, sorry, this is a good point because Zendaya is that girl. She nonstop talks about. She's her best friend. She nonstop talks about, even last night, I saw the interviews.
Starting point is 00:08:07 She's like, obviously, Tom, he's my best. Like, someone was like, who is someone that's been there for you? It was like a question that were they were obviously angling actually for a different answer. Right. And she said, Tom, you know, he's my best friend. He always said, well, I guess like, whatever, we've allowed men to say that. But she says it, oh, there was another one as well. I kind of believe it with her, though.
Starting point is 00:08:28 But I, when I think of Zendera, I can't think of anyone she's friends with. Exactly. Do you know what I mean? Like, she got any. She must have some. Uji school friends or something. She's a self-proclaimed recluse. True.
Starting point is 00:08:38 She likes to be on her own. She doesn't mind that. Also, she's Zendaya. Like, maybe it's quite hard to be friends with Zendaya. I don't know. She's like, not even real. Maybe she finds it hard to be herself. I'm sure she does.
Starting point is 00:08:51 I'm just saying she is that girl. She looks so good last night. That Tom Holland is her best friend. Yeah, I think. Tiny Tom. Tiny Tom. What a short king. He is a short king.
Starting point is 00:09:02 No, babe. When they stood next to each other. we could see the live feet because we were inside by this point. I mean, she was, he was sucking on her teeth. Like, babe. He was. He was not. Look at the picture.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Find a picture of him sucking on her teeth. Sucking on her teeth was, you know, maybe to help her teeth. He was at eye level with her nipple, is what you've liked to say. Yeah, that's in cute. Oh, is it that big of a, like, different. And last night. When she wears a heel, but I think it's such a flex because I love that they don't really care. I think on this press tour she's done quite well
Starting point is 00:09:36 Maybe not actually But why should she? But he also had a little heel on as well I threw one of it in I think whatever the one was where she looked like a Oh no this is the Odyssey premiere He had a heel on See like here they don't look too different No because they're actually not
Starting point is 00:09:50 As in like they're two inches apart But if she adds a four inch heel into that And he's got his flats on Yeah look here's a photo of them flats Like literally same high Yeah. Would you marry someone? I think you have to genuinely, I think because of how we've been conditioned in this world,
Starting point is 00:10:07 I think you have to have like a really like strong level of like self confidence to be with someone that makes you feel bigger. I genuinely do. And I rate that about her. Yeah, okay. Because we have been conditioned. Everyone looks at that and thinks it's like, not wrong, but like comments on the height difference.
Starting point is 00:10:29 True. Because she's taller. Like, do you know what I mean? Yeah. Why is that a big deal? But it is because we've just been conditioned to believe that that's the wrong way around. Why? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:10:38 And you don't actually see it that often. Think of how many celeb couples there are where... Sophie Turner and JoJo nurse R-A-P. R-I-P, yeah, no longer. Sophie Dahl and her husband, that is a high... You've never seen a height difference like that. But what I mean is think about how many celebrity couples there are where the height difference is the man is taller.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And then think about how many there are when it's the other way around. I just think that's because it's like, there are general, like women are generally shorter than men. Yes, no, I know. Do what I mean? So, like, there are the anomaly because. Yeah. There aren't that many short kings. There aren't.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Or tall queens. But, like, he could also be with a five-foot girl and he would look like a tall boy. True. So, like, it is out of the norm. You can't help who you love. No, you can't help who you love. Wait, I must show you Sophie Dahl and her husband. Please do.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Yeah, wow. Like, he looks like her son now. I'm so sorry. He does. Sorry, her husband. You're in Jamie Collins. The icon himself. Yes, sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:31 That's who I mean. I didn't even know that. Jamie Cullen, that's small. Clearly. I think she must be really tall. Shout out to all the short kings anyway, I think. Because, you know, someone's got to do it. Someone's got to be a short king.
Starting point is 00:11:45 So Sophie Dahl is six foot and Jamie Cullen is five foot four. He's five four. Five four. Wow. Thank God he's talented. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Would you be with a shorter man?
Starting point is 00:11:58 I have been. Yeah, one. Once upon a time. Once and done. Yeah, no, probably not again. But I'm not like, I don't want someone who's six foot five. You're not bothered. I'm really not just like an average height person really.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I think six foot five again. I've always said this for eight. Six foot five is tall for the sake of it. I think so, it's embarrassing. I don't want to be like with, I've been on a date with someone who is really tall and everyone was just like staring up at them and I think it's too, it's a cynic. It's very, it's a very, it is like you can't walk around. Like, I feel sorry for them genuinely when you're six five because people do stare at you.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Also, you have to live different. like you have to have a different bed and like you have to have all the like shit like it was so funny because my cousin's my cousin is six foot four and um they were booking this holiday for this week and auntie too was like James was like you have to make sure that the ceilings are not too short in the hotel like shut up because he was like if i have to walk around crouch like sometimes you go to route they are and they've got low ceilings and they have to be like this like he couldn't live in the coxswalt so every cottage is like we don't really do you No way. Yeah. I mean you genuinely don't do a high zelings? Yeah. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:13:07 So Izzy, producer Izzy, has just been on holiday. As you know, last week she wasn't here. We had producer Sadie. Did you have the best time? I had an amazing time. Gorgeous. I've not really much to say I've sought mountains and shit. Was the weather good?
Starting point is 00:13:19 Did you hike? I was hiking. You would know this if you'd see. No, obviously, I didn't know. I loved. The hiking pictures were really slow. Thank you. The stories I thought was very strong.
Starting point is 00:13:28 I agree. Yeah. Okay. Six. And I thought that the views, stunning. Absolutely. So these two are chat, chat, chatting about this. And I'm thinking, God, I think you've been shadow banned from me because like I didn't
Starting point is 00:13:40 see any of this and she literally dead, dead ass. She was like, you don't follow me. That's why. I can't believe it. What is your name? She's a. Izzy Ellis, follow back. That is awful.
Starting point is 00:13:53 That is absolutely criminal. That is awful. That is disgusting. Right. I'm commenting right now. fucking too late. Slay,
Starting point is 00:14:02 Mountain. This is like when a boy texts you back to you little too late yeah literally love you um
Starting point is 00:14:08 this is classic me I don't save numbers no guys I don't follow back I don't reply to DMs like I just I'm awful for how long
Starting point is 00:14:17 like a year and a half our manager's name was not saved in my phone I wasn't on her close friends for genuinely three four years and then she started talking about this she was like her hat and I was like
Starting point is 00:14:27 what is she talking? Wait on my Instagram Yeah, this is years ago. But you not? No, I wasn't on your close friends. And I said. Sorry, this is a slayed-up. I really, I killed it.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Thank you. Oh, you killed it. It's so wholesome. A lot of DMs. I bet, I bet. Who are these people? Any sexy Swiss men? No, not any sexy Swiss men, but I had just been on the cusp of a breakup.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I broke up with the hinge, the exe hinge witch guy. You didn't. Yeah, he, well. Oh, my God. I shouldn't tell you this. Yeah, on the day before. Because what you think. He's not going to talk to me whilst I'm aware.
Starting point is 00:15:00 I was like, I don't want him ignore it. He's not a big texter for the galley. He wasn't a big texter and he was really getting on my tits. Yeah. And he's like, but why was he getting on your tits? Because he wasn't like, he wasn't engaging. He wasn't like talking to me. They've been dating for so long.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Yeah, we've been on 15 dates. How many months has it been? Nearly three. So I, I keep wording it with. I gave him the gun and he shot me. I see. So I said, hey, what's happening here? Because I'm a bit awkward.
Starting point is 00:15:27 I don't like dumping people. but I'd rather be dumbed. So you said this to him. So I said, yeah, I didn't, yeah, I was like, hey, what's the vibe here? You're sort of not really talking to me. You might really panic a day. It's a little bit weird.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I was in Battersea Park and I just let, I let it go. And then within the hour, it was paragraph of like, oh my God, like I literally, I'm so sorry. I've been thinking about this. I was 50-50 going to talk to you about it. I was like, 50-50. Also, what else were you going to do? Just hope that I just waited until in three weeks.
Starting point is 00:15:58 You fancy to shack. Exactly. And he was like, I wanted to do this after your holiday. I wanted to do it in person. I was like, oh my God. Oh, this is over text. Yeah. Well, I said, call me then.
Starting point is 00:16:09 So then he called me and I like, he started crying. He didn't cry. Yeah. He was like, I really like you, but I just don't know a relationship right now. He's not ready. He's not ready. But what does that mean? When will be ready?
Starting point is 00:16:20 It's so dull. It's so annoying. Well, to be fair. He had been out of a relationship quite recently. But I was like, why have you let it get to this point? I know. This is the. annoying thing because actually if you're not ready and you're self-aware enough to say,
Starting point is 00:16:32 I'm not ready. Oh no, but boys aren't self-aware. So they have to get to the point where it's too late and then they realise, fuck, I'm not ready. Yeah, it's a waste of everyone's times and waste of your time. Also you have to listen to him and you have to be like, okay, bye. No, but I was. So I think that's why you were kind of like. I was a bit done with it. Yeah, because I had, my eye was wandering as you know. But thank God you. This is exactly. This is exactly. I sound so. I'm so. Thank God. Thank God. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Because I just think like, you wouldn't want to wonder if you were getting enough from where you were. Yeah. Exactly. So I think, you know, there was a bit of a moral, ethical issue there. I thought, oh my God, I'm cheating on this hinge man.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You were not because he had never laid down the laws for this reason because he was not ready to do that. Yeah, so this is a message to the galleys out there. Until they've locked you down. Oh, you do as you fucking walk. Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. Amen. Oh my God. Imagine all my ex-varez in this hinge man's back. Agree. Now your eggs would be smashed. Yeah. And you would have no eggs.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Yeah, exactly. You could also move your eggs out of the alternative basket. No, because, right, it's been pretty magical. Throw back to that episode two. The boat man. He's back. He's back, baby. He's back.
Starting point is 00:17:43 He's on shore. He's on land. Land, thank you. He's on like, yeah. Well, no, he's, now he is unfortunately back on the boat for two months. No, that's fortunately. No, it's not because we are so in love. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Maybe not in love. You need help. No, no, no, guys. always just, I think you should always humour your ex. Yeah, is it? Is it? I don't know that's worth to do advice. I think you should.
Starting point is 00:18:02 You know your ex. Because I think we're comfortable. We're in the bar. My legs are on his leg. He's all, I walk in, he's ordered my favourite drink because he knows me.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Of course. I actually think with you, it's funny because he's not your ex. I think it's different advice. It's humor your never quite became your boyfriend. Yeah. Because when that's unfinished business. Humor your situation.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Yes. And I agree because I think was there something I like to exhaust things. Like it's like using your favourite GHD straighteners till they die. Which they never do. Which they famously never do. So it's like until something dies, you shouldn't just like send it to landfill. You should check that it's not working anymore for you.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Within reason. Because if the fucking straightners are faulty. Exactly. But that's what X is. And they're giving you like electrical, you know, wiring issues. No, because that's broken. So that's an X. But your version of broken is different.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Because he's really turned it around, guys, communicating. He's been to therapy. I was like, oh my God. If he's been to therapy, then that's allowed. He's all right. So I'll keep you updated in three months time. When he won't have a boyfriend in three months time, I will die. I won't.
Starting point is 00:19:09 He's already said no. He said no, because he wants to be young, wild and free on the same. Young one of free on the belts and so do I. Are you going to get heartbroken now? No. Because you know the lay of the land. I know that at some point we're going to be together yet. You know he's the one?
Starting point is 00:19:24 I know he's the one. not just not the one right now. Exactly. You really think he's the one? Absolutely. Factually, yeah. Fatshally correct. Fatsh actually correct, like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Because I just think you're earning the millions on the bar. Fantastic. But he's not going to do that forever. Well, quiet. So I say, make the money, make the millions. Buy me the house, buy me the car. Make the money, make the millions. Get the STIs.
Starting point is 00:19:45 And then come back to me. No, no, no, no, no. That's defamation. We know, we don't know what he's up to on the boat. I think I could hazard a guess. No, I can. You haven't had the convo or you have. Well, the thing is I can't really talk because I had Hinge Man on the go.
Starting point is 00:20:01 You had a full boyfriend. So I don't, I don't dare bring it up. How long has he gone for now? Two months. Well, he's back in November. Birthday month. That's not longer than two. Bloody hair.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Three months. Is it three months? So you're not chained to anything or anyone? No, but I'm kind of chill about it. Last time I wasn't. Maybe you need a breather. Yeah, I think I might have a break for a couple of months. A couple of weeks.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Wow. Wow. Well, we'll all be on tenter hooks, won't we just? Okay, you can join us in part two for your galley messages. Okay, galleys, welcome back. Okay, let's hear our first voice note. Yes, please. By the way, we stopped naming the galleys.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Oh, we can do if you want, but the thing was, we were naming them, and you never would refer to them as that. Yeah, classic us. But I'm happy to, you can name them again, but we can maybe stick to the name. Do you want to bring it back? You can bring it back. Or we just stick to galleys? No, let's just stick to galley.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I mean, we can name them. It's up to you. Zendaya. We better call them Zendaya. Today we will refer to you as Zendaya. No, but sometimes when we talk about them in third person, we can use their name. Okay, nice. We'll get back.
Starting point is 00:21:18 We'll bring it back. Hi, girls. Just a quick story about a date that I went on and I want to know whether or not I can have forgiveness. So I started talking to this guy off hinge. I were getting on really well. We're talking quite a lot for a couple of days. and we decided to go on a date. So he was in the army, like in my uni city.
Starting point is 00:21:39 So I'd never met him before. We meet up at the location for the date, and I immediately realized that he is way shorter than I thought he was. I'm around the same sort of height as Ali. He was meant to be like a good 5-11, according to his profile, and he was honestly more of a 5-5-5-6.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I was looking down. We go for a Drey, and get the first cocktail, he gets it. I'm really not feeling his date. He's being very strange, talking about how much he does certain substances, how all these things have happened, which very much sound like his fault.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Go back downstairs to get us what I said was going to be our final drink. I look at a bar, I look at the door, and I decided to leg it. No! I ran all the way to my friend's house. where he started ringing me about 15 minutes later, asking me where I went and sending me text, and I never replied. I saw him on a club night out a couple of months later with my current
Starting point is 00:22:44 boyfriend, which was a little bit awkward. But I want to know whether or not I can be forgiven for my sins. Oh my God. Okay, there are many sinners in this story. Well, sorry, first of all, how fucking fitting that you're called Sendea. Yes, how fitting. How fitting. And you were dating a tiny Tom. Very good. So, well, much to unpack actually. Much. Because, okay, we'll start with him, because, you know, we like to, you know, punish men. It's a good, good feeling. You can't lie about your height. You just can't, not that much. You just calm. I think you can lie an inch. I've lied an inch. If you can, if you're 5'10, you could, 5'10 to 6 foot even. But, okay, I would allow that. If you were 510 and you said, oh, like, for example, the guy that I was
Starting point is 00:23:30 dating a few months ago, he put on his hinge profile six foot, he was 100% 5, 10, 11. I do still think, I said to him, I was like, I think you're not six foot just so you know. Not that, like, did he know that? Was he deluded to think he was like, yeah, I am. I was like, brother, you're not. But like, also, no one should really care. So it's like, I've inch or two, I think we can all get away with. So I mean, an inch or two is okay.
Starting point is 00:23:54 If that makes you feel better and you want to be six foot. And you're living in la la la land, fine. Or maybe you've got six foot energy. Like, do you know what I mean? Like, whatever. But I feel like if you're like 40, like, I would never put on my hinge purple 5-5. Imagine. Do you know how the difference between 5-5 and 5-8 is?
Starting point is 00:24:09 Also, it's what we were saying about big boobs. It's a different energy. Like you have a different like personality based on your height. Genuinely, like, are my friends that are five foot nothing, we're very different. Yeah. Where we move through the world is different. Like, it's just different. You just can't.
Starting point is 00:24:26 It's like saying I was a Capricorn when I'm a Libra. I would never. Yeah. Imagine. I'm not the same because of that. So, like, he was wrong to do that. But, babe, and we will call galleys out when they do wrong. You cannot. You can never do that again.
Starting point is 00:24:41 And I would say that to, if she, if G ran to my house, I would say, babe, turn the fuck around, get back in there and look him in the eye and say, this is not for me. You're a liar. You're a liar and actress. Get the fuck out. That's fine. If you've got the balls to do that, great.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Personally, for me, I would sit through that last drink or I would have an emergency, you know, phone call set up. But I'm sorry, I do think that is wild. Like, I get it, like for the plot, kind of funny, but so bad. Like, well, like, if a boy, like, if we had a story on here about a boy doing that, I mean, that is, like, awful. If a guy did that to me, I would be so mortified and then ghosted me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:26 I wouldn't leave the house away. after that. I'd be like, well, I'm a troll. No, but it's more, it's like,
Starting point is 00:25:32 it's just so disrespectful of this time. Like, they are at the, at the crux, another human being who has come here. I mean,
Starting point is 00:25:40 don't get me wrong. He sounds like, twat anyway, so it doesn't matter. But like, well, exactly, but doesn't matter,
Starting point is 00:25:45 wouldn't have mattered to say, no, no, exactly. Babe, I think in order to gain forgiveness, you should text him now a year on
Starting point is 00:25:54 and just say, I've done some reflecting and it was really bad that I left that date that time. You might have forgotten by now, but I just wanted to say it wasn't you, it was me or whatever you need to say. I don't think you need to do that personally. I really do for forgiveness. I think let's double down. Really? Yeah, it's a year ago. If it was a week later, if you did this last week, you can do that. But if it's, time has gone, water under the bridge, no worries. He's probably in a war torn country now anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. I would just personally, like all the, I'm trying to think of the guys that
Starting point is 00:26:25 have ghosted me. Like, I have this one guy that ghosted me. I had two guys that ghosted me. I saw him on the Northgate Road last weekend. Who? The dog nutritionist. You've seen him before as well. No, that was...
Starting point is 00:26:35 Oh. So many. Dog nutritionist. That was his actual... That's his business name. Job. Go and spam him if you want girls. Who goes?
Starting point is 00:26:43 He was my first date back after breaking up with my ex. And we had two dates. We slept together on the second day. I believe. I think that's right. Anyway, we slept together and he was like... Like, he was like, I'm going skiing. So, like, see you when I'm back.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Oh, I remember this. Text me, like, after we'd, like, hooked up, like, whatever, fine. Then just full ghost, I thought, hope to God you've died on the slopes. Because if not, there is no excuse. Anyway, so I'm on the North Dakota Road with a girl the other day, having brunch. So he's alive and got a girlfriend. Wow. Or is dating someone.
Starting point is 00:27:19 But if he then messaged me now a year on and was like, hey, I've just been reflecting and I actually think it's really wrong to ghost people so I just wanted to say I didn't text you because I just didn't think you were for me I'd be like respect, thank you. I would find that actually more in a way. Would you?
Starting point is 00:27:34 Yeah, I really would. Because I think if as the, like obviously I'm not, I can't speak from experience but I can imagine feeling like if I was him I'd be so like raging angry when I dealt with that I'd be like, you're fucking dead to me I literally you don't exist.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Yeah. Like that was just like blip in my history in my life's history. The problem is they're like it's low key not that deep. So just say. Like the chances of me forgiving you are from a text alone. Exactly. So then why send the text? Because.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Like I just think no need. I think it like I don't know. Maybe. Okay, maybe not. No, but go on. Well, I think like, I don't know. I think as you say, it's a human being. So I think we underestimate like the fact that like it's not about you. It's about the act of someone doing that to you if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:28:23 So he doesn't need to forgive her because he doesn't know her and she doesn't owe him anything. But at the same time, if you feel like, I don't know, like you're the, you've been like left in that situation that makes you feel something about yourself, maybe it's nice to hear from someone that it wasn't about you and it was their shit. Do you know what I mean? But would that really do that? I think it might for me. But maybe that's not a good thing. Do you know what I mean? like if his takeaway might not be that it was about him,
Starting point is 00:28:54 it might be that she was like an evil person. True. So then if that's like you can't know what he's feeling, therefore you can't say the right thing. Well then you just stay unforgiven, sis. Well also I just think what you did is really bad. So like, you know, double down. I can't believe you did that.
Starting point is 00:29:11 And punish yourself internally for that. That is so crazy. I would never. I would never have the balls. If he started ringing me, I would just start, I would start crying. I would literally be like, my phone is ringing and I am going to be sick. And I'd be like, someone else answered this phone. I don't think it was...
Starting point is 00:29:28 You could have left and been like, oh my God, I'm so sorry. I had diarrhea. I had to go. I would have done that. And then it would have actually been a bit more forgivable. Like, you'd have lied, but like, at least you'd have like, you know, not made him feel like a complete, like, melon. Listen, we've all had that.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Also, I know that feeling. Like, sometimes you get it. It doesn't have to be on a date. It could be like an event you don't want to be at. Or like, at a birthday party and that you want to leave. You feel suddenly like homesick. But you see the door and you're like, now's my chance. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Everyone can identify with that feeling. But there's difference between Irish exiting at a party and then leaving just like a solo like situation. No, no, don't give it wrong. That's what I mean. Like yours is 3,000 million times worse. But we've all been there and stuck it out. Oh no, babe. You came for forgiveness and you've got a right bollicking.
Starting point is 00:30:13 I think, no. My take on forgiveness is if you know what you did is wrong. Yeah. And you yourself have, not punish yourself, but like, you know when you just have to like pay penance a bit to yourself. And you won't do it again. And like, you know, maybe you won't buy yourself the new pair of shoes that you wanted this one just punishment. Like, you know, if you have internally done the work. Yeah. Fine. Forgive yourself. Yeah. Amen. You can forgive yourself. You can forgive yourself. We just don't forgive you.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Okay. Time for an email. OMG girls. This is a good one. Sorry. I thought you brought me reading classes. Oh yeah. I need to get you. You're reading. classes. About six weeks ago, I went through the worst breakup. We've been together for a few years, traveling for 14 months and living in New Zealand. Wow. We were coming to the end of the trip and beginning to plan the route home, but my partner decided he wanted to stay long term there, and we both decided we needed to break up. It was a loving breakup and one that needed to happen, but I suddenly had no one on the other side of the world. After NZ, I ended up in Thailand, completely broken. For two weeks, I kept to myself trying to heal before flying home.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Wow. With only three days left, I moved hostels and finally started chatting to people. There was one guy I instantly clicked with. We spent two days watching sunsets going for food, working out, dancing and talking for hours. It was the happiest I'd felt in months. On the second night, he kissed me. We were both completely sober in a club and surprisingly I didn't mind. It just felt right. Not in a women-to-be-together way, but in a I was supposed to meet you kind of way.
Starting point is 00:31:46 The funny thing, we never asked each other's ages. We both knew there was an age gap, joked about finding. up but decided not to. After I got home, we kept in touch until we finally asked, girls, he was 38. I'm 22. Wow. Wait, can I just do the math quick? 16 years? That's 16 years, yeah. We were both completely shocked. I bet. I'm sure. I'm sure that was a shock. I'd guessed early 30s. He'd guessed mid-20s. The messages naturally fizzled out after that. I don't regret meeting him at all because he genuinely helped me heal after a breakup. It really felt like we cross paths for a reason.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I'd love to know your thoughts on age gap relationships and whether some people are only meant to come into your life for a certain chapter, love you, galleys. Wow. Much to say. It's like that, what's that program called on Netflix? That stupid fucking program is new. And it is basically this.
Starting point is 00:32:41 What program? Oh, what's it called? Age of attraction. Oh, I know. So they date without knowing each other's ages. But like, obviously like, okay, some people don't know their age, but you can hazard a fucking. can guess. Like they all look at each other like, I can't. It's called age of attractions.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Obviously you're going to have an age gap. Number one. And number two, like, you do know, like, it would only take me like two seconds to ask someone like, so when you were younger, did you use MSN or Snapchat? Like, you know what I mean? I've like hazarded a guess of the decades. Are they allowed to answer those, ask those kinds of concerns? I actually don't know, to be fair. Maybe they're not. See, I, because as someone who's been traveling in like Asia, when you meet, you do not meet someone and assume that old. So, like, he's in a hostel. a hostel? I would not, I'd be like 30.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Surely. Like, why is a 40 year? I was knocking around a hostel. Even 30. Shagging 22, 22, year old girls, not right if you are. Exactly. 32, 33 in a hostel. There were some, there were some people in Australia.
Starting point is 00:33:33 32, 33 in a hostel, now that I'm 30, it's quite old. Yeah, exactly. To be living like a traveller with your like full, why, what have you all, like, have you all not got a job? It's a lifestyle, do you know what I mean? Wild. No, but I agree. Like, you wouldn't assume.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Yeah, maybe not. But 38, like, unless he's getting talks, he's going to. look older than you're 22. No. 38. I do think some men, hashtag not all men, are very ambiguous between the ages of like 33 and 38. Because I
Starting point is 00:34:02 actually also think some 33 year olds look 40. Do you think? Yes. Rory Wyatt. He does not. He's just getting as obsessed with the fact that Rory's getting a little gray. I can't, I, babe. He's salt and pepper. Have you seen? Have you seen our TikTok show? No.
Starting point is 00:34:18 Oh God. The poor boy. Let him age. MediCube have brought out this scalp serum. Obviously, I bought it. You don't want his hair to keep growing. It's growing grey.
Starting point is 00:34:29 No, it's scalp serum. And then I also bought the caffeine serum. That's right. Hair growth. He's going grey. Vitamin B. Apparently stops going grey. Obviously, water did I order.
Starting point is 00:34:39 Fucking, the biggest thing. Has Rory got a complex about this or have you created one? He's not best pleased. Fine. Don't get me wrong. He's not like, you know, as mental as I am. But he does like, you know, get a haircut more regularly
Starting point is 00:34:52 because when they're long, they're noticeable. Fine. So I'm doing all I can. Sorry, anyway. Anyway, sorry, by the bar, you didn't know. That's like, fine. I get it. Sometimes people look older than they are, younger than they are.
Starting point is 00:35:04 People, I really think, like, people can be deceived. True, true, true. And also the 30s are difficult. Also, at 22, you can look 25 easily. Yeah, I get it for him maybe, like, more. I think girls do tend to look older than their age and act older than their age. Like, I'm sure he was like, she's within...
Starting point is 00:35:22 He must have known she was young, though. He's old, sorry. If she thought she was 25, that's not that... On travel, like... Inadvised, but not illegal. No, like, yeah, yeah, fine. So I have many thoughts on age gap relationships because my parents have an age gap relationship.
Starting point is 00:35:40 They are 17 years. And my ex and I were eight. I genuinely believe that age gap relationships can be fine and grey and like no biggie in ages but a number Jasmine and Cavan on Love Island he's 21, she's 27 so that's six years
Starting point is 00:35:58 That's yeah that's on the lower end I think there is a cut off I genuinely do believe that and I think anything over 10 you will have noticeable differences in your relationships and genuinely issues because of your age Also like if you think like even 10 years
Starting point is 00:36:14 if I was with a 40 year old now Like life is so different It depends Like not for everyone Not for everyone Like 30 to 40 actually It's so weird as well Because it will change as the decades go
Starting point is 00:36:28 But like if I was with a 40 year old Who was really keen for children now That would massively impact Obviously impact my life Because of a choice that I had made Yeah So that's the thing And I was just like teasing my mum about it
Starting point is 00:36:42 At the weekend Because she was complaining about my dad Not being able to hear And I was like sis you genuinely married someone 17 years older than you. What did you think he would stop aging? Did you think you would catch up with him? And she's like, oh, stop it, stop it.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Well, like, what did you think when you married an old man? Like, I don't know what to tell you. He was old when you met him. He was in his 50s. Do you know what I mean? Well, this is a thing I think people, like, it's easy. When you're 30, okay, don't get me wrong. When you're 35 and 50, you're like, oh, sexy, older man.
Starting point is 00:37:10 And then you get to 65, 80. Yeah, it's very different. And you're like, oh, wow. Old man. Old man. Yeah. Grandfather. Thing is, I think like they can work and they do famously work.
Starting point is 00:37:22 We have lots of examples of where age gap relationships work. But I think you just have to know what you're signing up for. Agree. Because I do think, I think people underestimate the things that like come with that, basically. Even like cultural references. Oh, genuinely. We're not going to know anything. We're not going to like any of the same music, any of the same films.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I mean, you might. So at 16 years. I just always think about that Like he was doing his GCSEs when I was in the womb That's fucked Yeah yeah yeah that is fucked Fucked Well there was a point where it was highly illegal
Starting point is 00:37:53 Which is always a bit weird isn't it Yeah Yeah Highly illegal Yeah Yeah so I just think like I think they're fine And I think I genuinely
Starting point is 00:38:03 Because of my parents Would never go above 10 years personally I think 10 years is too many personally Even 8 you said I think and I were fine I really do I don't think it was age was not art problem I think that was that. I do think that's a cusp.
Starting point is 00:38:18 I think, I think 10, I do. Babe, what, dating a 40 year old now. That is a bit strange. Is it? Yeah, I think it would, I just, mainly because I think their energy is so, like, grown up. 40-year-olds are different to us. Think about men, though. Single men at 40.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Exactly. Why single? Exactly. I'm starting to come around for the divorcees. I'm holding my breath. Babe, shut up. It's getting there. It is.
Starting point is 00:38:48 You're not 105, babe. You're not even 30 yet. People will. You are talking like you're 55. I know, I'm not. Shriveled up ovaries. Fifty-five is too old for the divorcee. Well, no, that's like checking around.
Starting point is 00:38:59 No, 55 is prime divorcee territory. Yeah, maybe. Maybe 45 is prime divorce. Yeah. I think I could be getting the like got married young, like have been together 10 years. I do. I do think so. Because if I'm dating someone that's like 34, they could have got married at 24.
Starting point is 00:39:14 26, 27? They could have had a five-year marriage and then they'd meet me. I don't think you want to be with something like that. Why did you get married so young? Your frontal lobe was underdeveloped. Yeah, that's why they did it. Yeah, and you're fucked in their head. Anyway, babes, I think it's fine and I think you're right.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Some people are just meant to be a chapter and they're not meant to stay for the whole book. And some people really do just come in, as Sheila McIntosh famously says, some people are a lesson, and some are a blessing. And I really do think it's a nice way of living. Yeah. Like, not just for your relationships, for your friendships, even for like, you know, people that you meet are work. To be a bit transient.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Yeah. Yeah. And you know that like you have your like lifers. Yeah. And everyone else just kind of floats in and out. It's nice. And also I really, I was talking to my moment about this the other day about how like, we were basically talking about angels being sent to you in human form and how we all
Starting point is 00:40:01 have angels in our lives that like help us get to where we need to go. And how like often those people are very much like transient people. They come in to help you at a certain point in your life. Like if I look back at my life, I've had. people come in when I really need that thing from that person or like help you get to the next step or whatever. And maybe this man was just an angel to help you heal. And that's all he was gifted to you from the universe. Yeah. And now on your merry way. Honestly, my main feeling when I was reading your email was jealousy, to be honest. I can't believe you found that. I'm so jealous. You just go traveling.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Off I go. Who needs to work. Okay, it's time for the galley gossip. It's time for the galley gossip. Yes. The galley gossip is where we ask for gossip. Goss, good goss, juicy goss, from the galleys. So if you don't have a dilemma or a question or a juicy story, then you can just give us a little piece of goss. So we have had a voice note from Rebecca, whose dog has just eaten the one thing it absolutely shouldn't have. Oh my God!
Starting point is 00:41:00 Hi, galleys. I am a very big fan. Love the pods. Love all the socials. Just love you guys. As soon as G's book was announced, I pre-ordered it. Love. And, of course, it arrived with the level of little.
Starting point is 00:41:13 note to me. I've been loving the book so far, but so does my dog, apparently, because my dog has eaten a fair bit of it, which means that some of the pages, I can't read all the words. There are a few pages where I cannot read the outer right, shall we say, of page 170 onwards. So, yeah, if you're in my situation, what would you do? Hope you have a lovely day. If we were in your situation, we would send you another book. That's what we're in. what we will do. Yeah, you best, babe, why don't you message Izzy and we'll get you a book sent to you so you can have a fresh copy and I'll sign it.
Starting point is 00:41:50 But hilarious, you could just also fill in the gaps. You might do better than me. You never know. Hey! Then and there? Write that down as well. We could get that published second edition. Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Yeah. Rebecca's special, special version. It's like Taylor's version. I've never had a dog, so I don't know. Where to keep your books. Or what they actually, like, eat. I wouldn't have assumed that they would eat a book. I guess paper's pretty digestible.
Starting point is 00:42:13 I guess that's fine. I wouldn't, I don't, I don't, I don't see many dogs running around the home taking chunks out of books. Some dogs are bad though, like they like socks, they like, like weird things, sofas, they love sofa edges, dogs. So I guess there's anything to chew on. Bless your dog. I don't blame your dog. It's okay. We'll get you another one, babe. Don't worry about it. If you want to get involved in next week's galley gossip, send us a DM on Insta or drop us a comment on YouTube or Spotify to be featured. If you've got a story or a dilemma that only we can help you with them, please send a voice.
