Legal AF by MeidasTouch - Biden STICKS IT to Trump with LAST-MINUTE Move
Episode Date: December 14, 2024President Biden just stuck it to MAGA and showed mercy and kindness to 1500 Americans at the same time, by issuing a record-setting 1500 clemency petitions and 39 pardons in a single day. Popok expla...ins the difference, and why this may indicate that President Biden is prepared to give blanket pardons to those that protected democracy against Trump in 2020 and need protection from retribution now. I love Joe Biden.
He found a way to both stick it to Donald Trump and MAGA
and use his mercy powers of pardon and commutation and clemency in order to
benefit 1500 families in America. The single greatest
grant of clemency and pardons in history all happened in the last
several hours. And I'm here for it. So are you on the Midas
Touch Network and Legal AF. Let's talk about what just
happened. Joe Biden, fresh off of pardoning Hunter Biden, has decided to continue in record-setting pace to benefit America and
Americans in an act of kindness and mercy that only the President of the United States and his
pardon power can do. And this is to protect them and protect them from retribution of Donald Trump
and abuses of power that we know are coming when he gets into office.
So now we've got 1500 Americans have had their sentences commuted, meaning the conviction stays
on the books, but they're getting let out of home confinement and jail upon the signing of this new
proclamation. Those are for people that have been rehabilitated, who have had non-violent crime or not threats to society,
and that will strengthen communities and their families
by letting them out early.
That's the commutation part.
That's the big number, 1,500.
By comparison, the next largest exercise
of the commutation power and the clemency power
by a president was Barack Obama when he did 330.
This is almost five times as much.
You know, kudos to Joe Biden.
I'm going to read you from his statement in a moment.
On the pardon side, which is a complete exoneration, and the felony and the misdemeanors get wiped
off the books, Joe Biden and his team have gotten together and they have right now, they're
not done yet, have parted 39 Americans, primarily who have been convicted for having the, of committing
those quote unquote crimes of being gay in the military or nonviolent marijuana use.
Joe Biden has always, and he said this publicly, he always thought that he had done a disservice back in 1994 when he
sided with Bill Clinton and passed a crime bill that put a lot of people who committed
low-level drug use crimes and put them in jail for a long, long time,
including within the black and brown community. And this is one of his ways to fix it on the way
out. So the headline is, and I know the MAGA is going to
go crazy, this will explode their heads, 1500 quote unquote criminals, this will be the MAGA
version, are getting off easy because of Joe Biden. That is not the way to look at this. The
way to look at this is that this is a proper exercise of mercy that only a president can give
and there are more to come. There are more to come. I think
this is a great sign for what I've been calling for, which is more pardons and more clemency and
not less, especially on the pardon power, to protect those that protected democracy, prosecutors,
judges, lawmakers, FBI investigators, attorneys general who went after Donald Trump appropriately
after 2020 and his reign of terror and now are on the hit
list for Donald Trump is FBI potential director Cash Patel,
Pam Bondi is attorney general and the rest. They need pardon
protection too. Let's talk about what Joe Biden's statement to
the public is in the one along with this
extraordinary historic commutation of 1500 sentences for Americans.
He said, as president, I have the great privilege of extending mercy to people who have demonstrated
remorse and rehabilitation, restoring opportunity for Americans to participate in daily life
and contribute to their communities and taking steps to remove sentencing
disparities for nonviolent offenders, especially those convicted of drug offenses.
That's you know, if you were convicted of crack you went away for life. If you were convicted of cocaine
you went away for 10 years or five years. Black and brown community
disproportionately impacted by that distinction in the law from the 1990s. for 10 years or five years. Black and brown community disproportionately
impacted by that distinction in the law from the 1990s.
Now, let's get past that.
I'm not done.
And apparently, Joe Biden's team isn't done either,
because they've let it be known they're continuing
to evaluate appropriate use of Joe Biden's clemency
and pardon power from now until January 20th at 11.59 a.m.
And I applaud that.
One of the single biggest predictors of how long you live
and how good you feel while living
is your metabolic health.
Now I strongly believe that you can't manage
what you don't measure.
And metabolic health can be difficult to measure.
This is why I use levels to track my daily health metrics and habits, and ultimately
optimize my metabolic health.
Levels helps me understand how my food and lifestyle decisions are impacting my health.
In the short term, I use levels to optimize my energy levels during the day and manage
weight.
In the long term, I'm thinking about the many chronic diseases that are directly linked
to metabolic health, including diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer's.
I use levels with a continuous glucose monitor to get my own personalized data, which I've
found to be really powerful to understand my own unique physiology.
But you can also now use levels
without a continuous glucose monitor.
I never realized how much a simple pizza
could really spike my glucose until I started using levels.
Levels provides me with powerful real-time
personalized information on how my body responds
to different foods and activities.
Having access to this data is a critical step
to making better choices that will over time
have a huge effect.
Levels has recently launched some exciting new features
to help you track your macros.
Protein, fiber, fat, carbohydrates, and sugar,
and to create daily habits around your health goals.
They also provide insights based on habits around your health goals. They also provide insights
based on trends in your health metrics to help guide you to make decisions that will have a
positive impact on your health. Metabolic health is about glucose and much more, and Levels now
helps you keep track of it all. Now is a great time to get started if you've been waiting for
the right time to join Levels to improve your metabolic health.
Right now, Levels is offering my listeners an additional two free months of the Levels annual membership when you use my link levels.link.
I don't know how long this offer will last.
So if you've been interested in learning more about your metabolic health, now is the time to get started.
I've said it on a number of hot takes, and I'm going to say it again here until it happens.
There are people that have been named by Donald Trump and Cash Patel and other in MAGA world
as enemies of the people and enemies of the state that need to be protected by Joe Biden.
Michael Cohen on this network needs to be protected by Joe Biden and be given a pardon.
Liz Cheney, the Jan 6 committee, Senator Adam Schiff, the Biden family, Kamala Harris, Hillary
Clinton, Chris Wray now, the outgoing FBI director, anybody that's ever been a special
counsel against Donald Trump like Jack Smith and his team, the FBI and their team, attorneys
general like Letitia James in New York, prosecutors like Alvin Bragg.
And again, not because they did anything wrong, okay?
It's because it doesn't matter whether they did anything wrong and all they were doing
was their job and their civic duty and their public service to follow the evidence where
it leads against a criminal president.
We all know he was a criminal president, he's a criminal president-elect, and he will be
a criminal president again.
But these people need protection.
Now whether they want to accept the pardon or not, that's up to them.
You can always reject a pardon and say thanks, but no thanks. I think there should be another Excel spreadsheet
pardons that here that Joe Biden's office led by his chief of staff and his White House counsel
should be preparing. They're the ones that are vetting this issue and they should be bringing
it to Joe Biden on a daily basis. There's two things I want to see Joe Biden focus on.
I want to use his pardon power, his clemency power,
and those things around his executive power,
his executive orders that he can still do
to strengthen his policies and protect them
from the onslaught of Donald Trump.
His team has no other role for me
and no other goal for me, top to bottom,
than to review all of his executive
orders and all of the laws that he's changed and made and make sure he takes whatever steps are
necessary to thwart Donald Trump when he returns to office. I'll give you another example.
There are 40 or more people on death row that are that I think they're in an Indiana federal penitentiary.
Donald Trump will execute all of them. He executed, I don't know, 13 in the first six months
when he took office the last time
after the federal death penalty hadn't been exercised
in over 20 years.
He's going to do it again.
Within a year, those 40 people are going to be dead.
Now, I'm not here to debate what they did.
I'm just talking about federal death penalty.
And that is a place where Joe Biden, showing act of mercy,
can commute those sentences, not let them out of jail,
commute those sentences to life imprisonment
without possibility of parole, and get them off
the death watch, which has its own brand of cruel and unusual
punishment.
These people have been sort of under the guillotine's
knife or edge for the last, you know, four, five, 10 years.
And so that's something he can do.
He can close detention centers that are being,
that would be used for the roundup of undocumented.
He can make it harder for Donald Trump to do those things.
There's lots of things he can do.
I just did a hot take about Joe Biden shutting down the Judges Act that would have given
Donald Trump on day one 65 new federal judge vacancies to fill.
The Republicans have been playing unfair.
They have denied Joe Biden the right to fill his vacancies.
They had to make a horse trade in the Senate
to kind of give up on five or six judges,
including appellate court judges,
in order to get the last 10 or 15 appointed.
They didn't pass the bill,
the law that would establish the 65
until they waited to see if Donald Trump was gonna win.
And so forget it.
As we said, it's time for sharp elbows.
It's time that we go to the lengths and depths
of the Republicans within the rules.
But we gotta do the right thing, gotta protect Americans.
I love this exercise of mercy and the clemency
and pardon power by Joe Biden.
And there's lots more coming.
