Legal AF by MeidasTouch - GOP Senators Get PUT IN THEIR PLACE by Dems before HEARING
Episode Date: January 8, 2025The MAGA Senators are exploiting the carnage of New Orleans and 15 murdered people to try to fast track Trump’s obscenely unqualified National Intelligence (Gabbard), Defense (Hegseth) and FBI (Pate...l), picks using the attack by an American former military vet as a justification to “close the border” because we are “under attack” by foreigners. Michael Popok examines the hard shove back by Senate Democrats like Adam Schiff who are explaining that New Orleans is the very reason we CANNOT confirm any of them! conducted by a U.S. citizen board in Texas who happened to be in the Army at one point,
they're trying to use that to try to speed through the confirmations of their most obscenely
unqualified cabinet members for Donald Trump,
Hegseth for defense, Gabbard for intelligence, Patel for FBI.
As the Democrats fight back, led by senators like Adam Schiff,
about how wholly unqualified these people are, that New Orleans points out the very reason you need accomplished, mature, adult professionals
with high character and morals and experience running these operations or we're going to have
more New Orleans, not less. I'm Michael Popak. You're on Legal AF and on the Midas Touch Network.
and on the Midas Touch network. So Senator Adam Schiff took to the airwaves to condemn Kash Patel, the nominee for the office of FBI director, 44-year-old former public defense lawyer,
Donald Trump, toady and lackey, has zero intelligence community experience at all,
thinks that the FBI in his own words are cops that walk
a beat, wants to get them out of Washington, wants to have them out, walk in a beat, wants
to completely hollow out the institution of the FBI, not reform it, but hollow it out.
As Adam Schiff said in his interview that he just gave,, and I'll show you a clip in a minute, Patel and having him in that position
as the head of the FBI makes us less secure,
more vulnerable to insider attacks, domestic terrorism,
because you have somebody whose hands are on the controls,
who has no experience,
and it is only focused on going after
Donald Trump's political vendettas and his enemies' list of going after lawyers and journalists and judges.
Let's play the clip of Senator Adam Schiff.
Against the backdrop of this latest terror attack in New Orleans, you of course serve on the Judiciary Committee.
If Cash Patel is confirmed, will you be able to work with him? You've been quite critical of him.
Well, first of all, Cash Patel should not be confirmed.
And I think the terrorist attack in New Orleans,
and my heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones
in that attack, just underscores, again,
the importance of having someone directing the FBI
that has experience, that has judgment,
that has character, that has judgment, that has character,
that will prioritize defending the country against the violence we saw in New Orleans
or the violence we saw on January 6th, not someone whose top priority is political vendettas,
who believes in deep state conspiracy thinking, not someone who is as unqualified as Cash
Patel.
So Cash Patel is an easy one.
He should not be confirmed.
The others, you know, some, look, Marco Rubio,
I think Emily well qualified, several of the other nominees.
Again, we should follow that regular process
that the majority leader has laid out.
Now Cash Patel has been very public
about what his goals are if he ever gets anywhere near
the FBI.
He's going to have to do a lot of explaining.
It's going to be a lot of explaining to do during his confirmation process where the
Democrats take control of the microphones and start asking him about his 60-person enemies
list and why he doesn't think that going after these people isn't an improper diversion
of scarce resources, taking the FBI's
eye off the ball from stopping domestic terror. Now, senators that just got in under Donald Trump,
who are Republican, they say stupid things out loud. Like, the FBI is more concerned about going
after members of the school board for their religious beliefs than they are trying to stop
the Islamic terrorism. That's a
lie. You can say a lot of things about Merrick Garland and his Department of Justice, but they've
done a very good job of going after domestic and foreign terrorist rings organizations through
money laundering, through criminal charges, breaking them up before they happen. Yes,
we have the occasional mass casualty event, mass shooting event,
using a car to mow down 15 Americans and other people in a, in a crowded
festive square.
Yeah, I get that, but it would be a lot worse if we didn't have mature adult
professional people, um, uh, doing it, you know, doing it, uh, and making
sure that we are safe.
doing it and making sure that we are safe. Now, Cash Patel went on Steve Bannon and he said his primary focus if he ever gets near the FBI is to go after judges and lawyers and journalists. How
does that make us any safer? If New Orleans taught us anything, it's that we've got to try to stop
radicalization and go after it wherever we can find it. I mean, the Republicans are against
going after radicals in the military. That's where these people came out of, the Tesla
suicide slash bombing of the cyber truck and of course, the terrible, terrible carnage
and murder of innocents on Bourbon Street in New Orleans,
just before the sugar bowl,
by this American born Texas bread guy.
Donald Trump and the Republicans are using
and exploiting New Orleans and the victims there
and over the dead bodies of these victims
to claim this is the rationale
for quickly confirming obscenely unqualified people.
Lindsey Graham is off telling people in the Sunday morning news shows, this is the reason
we've got to hurry up.
We got to hurry up and get these people confirmed because we're under attack.
We're under attack by who?
We're under attack by who? Under attack by fellow Americans?
Mass casualty events, 99.9% of them are by Americans.
I can't even think of one that was conducted by an undocumented person.
Mass shooters, schools, churches, bowling alleys, supermarkets, synagogues, those are white middle-aged guys.
I mean, you know, that's the predominance of it. We just had a school shooting with a young girl,
but usually white boys or white men, citizens, not undocumented. The undocumented are too busy
trying to work for a living, pay $60 billion in taxes to America,
keep their kids in school and have a better life. That's why they came here. They came here to get
away from the drug lords, to get away from crime and violence in their countries, whether it be
Haiti, Mexico, South America, Central America. They came for a better life. They're too busy
trying to do that than to rob their local neighborhood bodega
or their friends or their neighbors. That's not who's doing it. Yeah? And I know they love throwing
up pictures of this guy because he's black or brown or both, but the New Orleans defendant,
The New Orleans defendant, the guy that committed those crimes, he's an American, born and raised in Odessa, Texas.
Was in the military, rose to the level of staff sergeant.
It doesn't have to do with closing the borders from terrorists coming in.

How do they think Hegseth,
who has zero experience running anything,
the only thing he's ever run is two foundations
that had like four or five employees
and he got run out on a rail because of mismanagement
and allegations of public intoxication
and sexual harassment and rape.
You know, how is he gonna handle
two million servicemen and women?
Two million people in the service.
How is he going to handle that?
And a three or four billion dollar budget, a huge percentage of our federal budget is
the military and it's going to be the guy that was the Fox and Friends weekend anchor?
What's Tulsi Gabbard's qualifications to have 18 different intelligence agencies report
to her?
What is it?
She wasn't even an intelligence officer
within the military when she served in the military
for a short amount of time.
I think she rose to the level maybe of major.
She was not in the intelligence community.
She hasn't been on the intelligence community.
She has no experience whatsoever.
Fortunately, the chief spook at the CIA,
John Ratliff, has experience, but she doesn't,
and she's gonna be vetting national intelligence
from around the world for the president
to make critical decisions?
I wouldn't let her run a bake sale.
And same thing for Cash Patel.
He started his career as a lawyer representing the indigent,
You know, he started his career as a lawyer representing the indigent, somehow got into MAGA world and fast-tracked himself when he's not out selling merchandise with his name
on it, with a dollar sign to spell out his name.
Is he qualified to be the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation?
Even J. Edgar Hoover is spinning in his grave who founded the FBI.
Yeah.
He has no experience.
He has no judgment.
He has no character.
And he's not qualified to be running one of our major, if not the major,
intelligence organizations in America.
Yeah.
Pete Hegseth, Cash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard.
That's a recipe for disaster.
That's a recipe for more New Orleans, not less.
More attacks on American soil, not less.
It's a justification not to confirm them, not to confirm, not as a rationale to confirm
them in a speedy fashion, which is what the Republicans are throwing up because they want
to give Donald Trump what he wants.
I've read two major pieces over the weekend.
They're going to have one big beautiful bill with all of Donald Trump's policy initiatives
in it for the Congress to consider up thumbs up or thumbs down.
They can put it all in one, shove it all down our throats.
Border taxes, tax cutting for the wealthy, the border cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, you know, the part, you know, the, uh, who
knows giving money to the Jan six insurrection is one big, beautiful bill.
Democrats led by Hakeem Jeffries got got to oppose that bill.
Got to filibuster that bill.
Got to stop that bill in its tracks.
And then, and then on the other side, the Senate, the senators want to
give Donald Trump all his cabinet picks.
No, that's where the Democrats come in again.
Live confirmation hearings will be following here
on the Midas Touch Network.
So if you like this kind of analysis,
the intersection of law and politics,
you've come to the right place.

takes like this about every hour. I've been doing these for over two years. It's all because of you.
And then we had to form a new legal AF
YouTube channel, legal AF of the YouTube channel, legal AF MTN in order to have rigorous analysis
at the intersection of law and politics, which is going to be a hot corner in another three weeks
or four weeks. As soon as the new executive orders come flying out of Donald Trump and all
these bills get passed. So I'm going to continue to follow it for you full-time Midas Touch Legal AF.
