Donald Trump is not going to be winning the Nobel Peace Prize. And now having seen a certain video clip of something that happened today, I believe that Donald Trump will never win the Nobel Peace Prize, at least not in his lifetime. I'll put it that way. I saw a video of the actual call to Maria Karina Machado,

the opposition leader in Exchevarez, exile who has been opposing the Maduro dictatorship in Venezuela after she was chased off the streets by the Maduro regime after her party won. And there was election denying the Jan 6 moment in Venezuela, which is another, I think, troll of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee. We're going to give it to the opposition leader of somebody who actually did something about election denying and the abuse of power. And so the phone call that I caught when you hear this phone call, you tell me whether you think Donald Trump will ever receive a phone call like this from the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, the emotion that poured out of the guy that made the call, the secretary of the committee. And I'm calling to inform you that in a few minutes it shall be announced here at the Nobel Institute that you will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 20, 25. Oh my God.

So the warmest congratulations to you, Maria. Oh my God. Oh my God. Well, I have no words. I, well, thank you so much, but I hope you understand this is, this is a movement, this is an achievement of a whole. of a whole society. I am just, you know, one person. I certainly do not deserve this. Oh, my God. I think both the movement and you deserve it.

Now, let's just frame this for a minute. I know MAGA has gone totally crazy. And now you've got MAGA congresspeople that are like, I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to, I'm going to propose a reason, at Congress that the United States award Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize. That's not how that works. You want to give him some congressional medal? Go ahead. But you're not going to be awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize. I don't think you understand how the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize works or what Alfred

Nobel really envisioned about who would be handing out his award. I, and I'm sure that guy hasn't been, I have been to the Nobel Prize Museum when I was traveling through Scandinavia a few years ago. It's an amazing museum. If you're in town, check it out. When you go, you'll realize why Donald Trump's never going to win that award. They like their winners to be not war criminals. They like their winners not to be creating human suffering around the world like in Ukraine

and tens of thousands of people have died, including hundreds of people since the Alaska summit with Putin. They like peacemakers who don't bomb their way to peace by dropping bombs on Iran, which probably did not solve the problem with Israel. They like peacemakers who don't lobby and campaign and have nominations and harangue the committee left, right, and center. In fact, many of the committee members found that unsavory. But also, Donald Trump has known who heads the committee.

The chairperson of the committee is Jorgon Friedness. Jorgon Friedness is the Secretary General in his day job of Penn, Norway. they, along with all the other Penn P-E-N organizations, is protective of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, journalists rights all over the country. He gave an interview in 2024 that I caught that I'll put up on the board in which he effectively said

that he's also worried about the crush of First Amendment and freedom of the press and journalists around the world, including in Democratic countries, and he pointed to Donald Trump's campaign in 2024 in which he attacked the press, press a hundred times. Well, Mr. Friedness, I don't know if you've been following the Trump administration since he won, but you can multiply that by 10 times. Donald Trump calls the press

the press the enemy of the people. He has his political hack of a press secretary. Caroline Levitt attack them from the bully pulpit of the press room every day, as does he. You think that guy was going to preside over a committee that was going to give Donald J. Trump Suppressor of First Amendment Rights, the Nobel Peace Prize. We just had a federal judge in Illinois in the last 24 hours issue a temporary restraining order that she had to enter to stop the Trump administration and his ICE forces from attacking journalists on the streets of Chicago

You'd think Juergen Friedness was going to hand out that award to Donald J. Trump? I don't think so. She's a brave leader of the opposition. She's been in the streets of Venezuela. When they had their Jan 6 moment and it went dark the way ours could have done, and Maduro declared that he won, even though overwhelmingly he lost. And the person that did win had to go to the France in exile. Maria Karina Machado is in exile as well, leading the... the charge. She would have run for president, but they told her she was going to be assassinated and she was going to be arrested if she did. And she has been fighting for peace in Venezuela

ever since, a champion, a committed champion of peace. That's what the Peace Prize is supposed to represent. Let me show you a clip of Maria Karina Machado being interviewed a year or so ago by CBS News. Here's a clip of Maria Karina Machado, so you know why you should. should be honoring her as well. Let's go. He needed a distraction. It's spread in circuses. The title of former New York Times journalist William Newman's book about Venezuela says it all. Things are never so bad that they can't get worse. Everybody knows that he's lost the election.

He's the emperor who has no clothes. He's cracked down. In July, Venezuela, with a history of on again, off again, democracy, held election. Meduro claimed he had been re-elected, but in a bold act of defiance, the opposition produced voting machine tallys, proving that this man, Edmundo Gonzalez, had actually won the presidency by better than a two-to-one margin. Impartial election observers agreed. Maduro called out the military to enforce his election denounce. Gonsalas was told leave the country or else he turned up in Spain. At least two dozen people were killed and more than 2,000 detained in the chaos. Maria Corina machina, the face of the opposition, who would have run for president herself if Maduro hadn't barred her, is in hiding.

I've been accused of terrorism. The dictatorship has said that they are looking for me and that they want to get me. Now, even Donald Trump. Trump believes that Maria Carina Machado is a proper candidate because he effectively endorsed her when he sent out a social media tweet after she was arrested, remember he was arresting all the opposition leaders? He, after she was arrested, Trump social media posted, peacefully expressing the voices and the will of the Venezuelan people

with hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against the regime. That sounds familiar. You could just substitute everything that's going on in Portland, in Illinois, in D.C., in New York, about Donald Trump and the protest against ICE, right? So Trump said Machado was peacefully expressing the voices and the will of the Venezuelan people with hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against the regime. Hold that thought. The great Venezuelan American community, now he panders to the voters in the United States, support a free Venezuela. These freedom fighters, meeting Machado, should not be harmed and must stay safe and alive. And I'm sure there was work being done behind the scenes politically, diplomatically,

to ensure that she wasn't killed after she was arrested by the Trump administration. So he's a supporter of her. But no, we're not going to allow Donald Trump, you know, this week to claim peace in the Middle East because Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, got off his ass in Miami, and went over to Steve Whitkoff's house in Miami, and they flew to Egypt to try to work it out as a deal. This isn't a land deal, okay? There are humanitarian issues that are still in play.

We have violated or we've allowed Israel to violate the Powell Doctrine, which is if you break it, you bought it. They've broken Hamas. They've broken the Palestinian people, including the civilian people, including the civilians and the children in that Gaza region, and they need to fix it. And maybe if they do that and all the other components of what is defined as peace in the Middle East,

maybe Donald Trump can be considered. I just don't think, based on that earlier clip, we're ever going to see him win the award in for a good reason. You can't bomb your way, humanitarian suffer your way to the Nobel Peace Prize. How many people are in cemeteries today because of Donald Trump's bungling of his of his national security policy of his foreign policy of his no plan to end the war how many people have died since day one of Trump's administration in

Ukraine after he said he was going to stop the war in Ukraine instead he just emboldened Putin to kill more Ukrainians Nobel Peace Prize is funny that way they don't want to reward people that do it that way right and so uh when you have that the bombing in iran and donald and it pissed off the Nobel prize committee i'm sure all the times Donald trump took credit for um solving wars that he did not solve or conflicts that he did not solve he says there's some sort of tally now we're up to nine well at least seven of those nine don't know what he's talking about maybe eight in fact we have a clip that we ran on Midas of one of the people in the countries that he claimed he saw joking and laughing and ridiculing Donald Trump. and Barack Obama got it only nine months into office but you can't kill your way to the Nobel Peace Prize as I've said I think when this is all said and done Donald Trump's closer to being a war criminal indicted war criminal standing standing in the Hague that he is not here in the States because he has criminal immunity but abroad than he is ever getting the Nobel Peace Prize and I'm glad to report on it I'm Michael Popock.
