Welcome to Legends of Evandris. I'm Iris and you're listening to Beneath Dark Wings. Here's what happened last time. You know what? Fuck it. If we end up burning this whole place to the ground anyway, it won't matter. Exactly right. You guys still got the stuff, right? Oh, we got the stuff, Gabris.

What sort of announcement? The Grand Lord is going to make. We'll be able to reclaim this continent the way it used to be. May I present the Grand Lord, my stroke? You see the foe that you fought. Makutu, Flambender, Tejai, steps forward, but he looks a little different. His face is horribly marred, and where his lower jaw had been is a grossly fastened, iron-plated, false jaw.

I like to think, I'm a reasonable owl, and he draws his sword and immediately, without looking, slashes the throat of one of the imprisoned Eryokokra. Grandlord Comedus had his erromances looking around the clock in this special place at the center. Something called an elder tempest. They told stories of it. It was children. The Erochococera from millennia ago. I used it as a creature of war.

Almost a world-ending beast. I can draw you a map to where the hurricane's eye is. What do you in drink. You are alone in the darkness. and suddenly you see this pulse of a bright blue light and you feel something totally enveloped here. It unfurls and you see feathers, these beautiful white wings of specks of sky blue.

And suddenly you feel distraught as you see the staff and you see these wings being all around you. There's nothing but despair. An iris and heart, you suddenly see a pulse of blue light. It's very easy to see. It's lifty as sleeping. You see a high ridge that forms a ring out ahead of you. And that ring, you look up and is matched as the canopy parts in a circle.

You see a swirling ring of deep, dark clouds, lightning, striking you've arrived at the hurricane's eye. Are in the forest, as it's starting to disperse a little bit, looking up through the high mountains and ridges of what is very very, very clearly the hurricane's eye. As the massive storm is swirling above you, thunder is booming every minute it seems. Lightning crashes through the sky. Rain is pelting down on top of you. You've been traveling during the day,

knowing that these Alararococra are nocturnal. But as you arrive here, it's sunset. The sun is going down. It's very hard to see any sun through the thick clouds. But faint patches very far off. You can see the final. remaining orange and purple rays twilight dissipated as darkness is descending. And you've been traveling all the day at this point.

You're all very tired. But you have seemingly finally arrived. And as you see that this massive swirling storm with the eye directly above, we see just very, very, very faintly cresting over the tips of one of the ridges. seem to be a bit of foliage of leaves. But it seems as any tree that you would see in this land

would be far too small to to raise that high. That's what you say. You are all in the forest. What do you do? We didn't kick anybody with us, right? We got to be a Zorbeck. Zorbeck and heart. I'll turn to Zorbe. Oh, no. Have you been here before, Zubik?

No, and have you not take cobblinoids here? or anyone else that isn't an aerocopra. Is there like a clear path? There is, the direction that you went to was marked off on the map by Obrose. Right. And, um...

So there was like a past... There was a pass that might be passable on foot that he knew of. And so you're probably about maybe a two-hour hike from there as, uh, as the night is descending. Um... So, but it feels like we're going in the right direction, you're at where you are, but the wind is howling and as you look ahead, all of the bits of foliage and bushes and brush

up ahead and on the side of these mountains are just a bit in either direction from being swept by the weight. Well, I'm exhausted, I think we should come. So it's late. It's late for you guys. You've been traveling during the day. Okay. So it feels like it's your camp.

Yeah. Potentially. I think it's a great idea. I can tell that we're differently close. And I'd like to meditate a bit. Okay. What do we see around here? Is there somewhere that we can make you?

You look around and you see that there are plenty of bushes and patches and hedges where you could probably set up a camel and it'd be relatively sheltered. but the wind is being baloney, the rain is being blown by the wind. It is going to be a wet city. I would like to, as we're settling down, I want to take out my four carved totems, and I will place them in the direction as best as I can configure, and try to feel like if I'm getting some kind of sense that we're getting close to the wind spirits. Okay, make a religion check of advantage. with Wormwood's dice trays

And you kneel down And you place in the cardinal directions that you can discern As you pray and pray And suddenly you feel a sense of torment pain as wind whips around you every single direction and it's incredibly strong but you get no sense of direction as it anticipates for that shitty weather. So the weather's just bad. The weather's

better. I'm going to take essentially 55 minutes and richly cast alarm five times uh each strategic locations in our setting camera. Okay. So it's a it's a I guess 20-foot cube time we have 500 cubes of feet of alarms. Kind of sprinkled around our camp in strategic locations to try to keep us safe. As a alarm member,

gone off? You know, I don't think in this campaign it has. I don't recall. I think we did once in Central, right? I don't remember. In the office?

We set off an alarm. Not one that I cast, but no. Oops. Would we hear it? You would, yes. Okay. If he designates us,

I didn't. We don't hear somebody else's alarm. It's not. like one of those like nuclear sirens going on. No, I believe it actually says like a bell. Oh, like a hurricane siren. Yeah. Yeah.

It says a mental alarm alerts you with a ping in your mind if you're within one mile of the water area, which we are only. I would sleep through that. What does the ping sound like? Pee-oo! No, it's so. Oh, we, oh, we. Yeah. It's Felix.

Hey. Hey, buddy. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Come on. Oh, geez. Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh.

Hershey is going to look around for some trees to maybe or some shrubs to chop down so she can make a campfire. Okay. I would say that you can find it's not very, it's all wet. It's not dry, but you are able to find some smaller twigs. And possibly with the magical business that you all have, you can get a campfire building. Firebolt, dry anything. Exactly right. Unis firebolt and, you know, everyone can just dry it out.

So you managed to get a campfire, Herja, plops down a bunch of branches, snaps it all in the configuration, in a little patch where this seems to be relatively drier, still a few drips getting in, but the fire roars up and you're able to kind of put a few logs and patches where you could probably sit down on a campfire. Here, Felix, this might help, and I'll, like, try to straddle over the campfire and hold my shield up so that I can prevent some of the drops from coming down. Okay. Oh, I understand. I'm okay.

Wow. Yeah. Yeah. No, no. That's, uh, that's good. That's good. That's good. That's good.

Right. And then I'll, uh, I just got the nastiest fan picture picture picture in my head. Just bend over for you there. He's got fire on that dick. And after repeat fire bolts, it dries out the wood and then ignites and had a roaring campfire. I don't think the woods dry is all I'm going. It's cracking and poppin. It's cracking and poppy.

So we're back sits down. He's just, he's sitting down, and he keeps looking over the ridge and then like enter the fire. He looks very scared. Toro. Can't you just like play to your guards and has any staff ordering? I did. And I didn't really get a sense.

I mean, there's definitely wind. But I don't think that was me. I think everybody can feel this wind. There's like tons of wind. Yeah, there's tons of wind. Yeah, but like, can't. just make it go away or like 20 feet up right? I mean, I could, and I pull out my conch

my conch horn, I say, I could make more wind, but I don't think that would help. Would your wind like blows this wind away? Felix, is that how that works? Physically, you know that kind of thing. No, no, no, no, it doesn't. So that's not, no.

No, it definitely would be. Definitely not. But I think, anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that what we were about to get into could be very dangerous. You think so? Yes. And I will do whatever it takes to save my home.

And if that means that, let me leave me behind for any reason, please don't hesitate. I don't want the rest of you to die from my actions. We won't. Thank you. That makes me so much better. No problem. Well, we're not here. Danger is, uh, coincidentally, all of our middle, uh, middle links.

That's the alarm sound. The order is important. Yeah, I don't think alarm will warn us at that. I step away from the fire. I probably shouldn't be anywhere near with the which is. I'm like right in the fire. I'm like covering each food, try to stay warm and dry.

Okay, you do that. As you're all, as you say that, Toa, um, heart, steps up a floor a little bit. She's been, her ears are back and her tails down. And she's covered in rain for her sticking

to her. She's not very happy, but there's a bit of determination in her eyes. As she reaches down into her packs and pulls out something. And you see her reach out and

pull a small Ket. And she placed it down in the center of the campfire and she looks to you to her and says, you know, I think you're right. And I think that there's a real chance that we could die tomorrow.

So I wanted to thank you all for being my friends and inspiring me to be a hero and I think that we should at least have a toast. This is the last of the beer that I have from my inn before it burned down. Oh, I forgot it.

I inherited it. Anyway, this is the last, and it's no better way to spend it than with you guys. Oh, that's so sweet. Thank you, Hart. Yeah, that's really sweet. Thank you. You are just like the cutest little girl. Oh, Hart, why don't you come over here and dry up and I'll hold up my shield

It's a blow out. It comes, right? And so she taps the keg and uses the old gravity trick and pours herself a mug. Zorbeck comes up. up and get some self-won. And you're all welcome to get a toast. Oh, yeah, I suppose, and I'll get up and start pulling myself in a mug. Thank you. Thank you. I'll take a cup out of my mess kit. Oh, I'm glad, we'll leave this on your character.

She's just a hard drinker. I just want to know. And then I'll have to myself with some perfume. I put some of my hands and lapp it up like a dog. How's that's that? It's a big spoon. Oh, yeah. I can drink on my spoon. You have a Stein. Oh, yeah, we're not. It's in your art. She's sitting on it. I fashioned my net. Andy's leaving.

With my boogerang. I really just wanted to, oh, he's gone through whiskey. He's going right for the base. He's gone for the basement. So I don't think I have a cup in my inventory, but I have a cup. I fill up my lantern.

anything that i can do we won't let you die i'll raise my uh my mug next and i'll say you know how you remind me so much of my mom back home involves dad the way you take care of all your people down here under the trees is truly inspiring. It's just, there's so many things we could toast, but I feel like with all the storms around us, I'm just, I'm so happy to have all these people around the fire with me, keeping me warm, keeping me dry. All right, I'm freezing and I'm soaking wet and I'm miserable. But, Pat has given me a drink. And that makes everything right for me and Laquard.

I hope it warms you a drink. Doesn't that what that does? You know it's bad luck to spill. Oh, I'll go next. I want to raise a glass to family, not just my family back home or my tribe or my ancestors, which are all very important. I want to raise a toast to Marker,

the first Goliath to settle them at Kani Islands, that's where the name comes from. And I want to raise a toast to this family, because I think we're more than just friends. at least to me. You're all my family, and thank you for everything you've done for me, and you've made,

hopefully, the salvation of my island's possibility. To the Dark Lord. I mean, you know, I'm just fucking kidding. I'm kidding. Friendship, friendship, friendship. I need friendship. And my city, Galtica, you guys need to come and join me. I couldn't think of better friends to enjoy the streets,

And she tips it back over and puts it in places over there. Oh, I guess, I won't need that anymore. Do you want me to add it to the fire? That's a good idea.

Okay. And I'll just go over and smash it with Dakota. So it's splinters, and then I'll throw the splitters in the fire. I'm sure the alcohol that's left over in there helps it up a little bit stronger. Herscher walks away with no eyebrows. So you're just bald in a big circle right here. It's all eyebrows on a cafe. No, hers and not eyebrows.

No, my mom did. I think you said I. That would be hilarious, though. And she'd kill every single one. Oh, my God. We wouldn't live. We wouldn't live. We wouldn't live in a nice.

Yeah, basically the pass that you're probably going to take is going to be a bit treacherous, but you'll be able to see it yet, right? We can't see it yet, but we can't wake up and then. Oh, Jesus Christ. And so... It's like a fucking mess, man. I can't handle this. I will... I will never... That is truly impressive. I don't know what's ahead of us,

and I kind of want to... get her to stretch her legs a little bit. I don't know when she'll be when I'll be able to have the time like I do now to summon her. Well, it's, you have a control of magic I've never quite seen before.

Good on you. Does she last forever or does she have a time limit? She lasts. Until she dies. And if she goes back to a place where she can't stretch her legs? I don't know where she goes.

I just figured, you know, she just is a live is you and I are. She goes the arborea? So I like, walk up the pain. Do you cream? You okay? She's just foaming at the mouth chewing on some funny

I am going to need first watch passes. I mean, Felix makes a perception check. I'm feeling that's not something about what we do that. No, it's okay. actually not bad 18 18 total

got it so Felix as you're sitting there alone huddling up trying to read a book I'm still studying a Bissile as you're getting it comparing to Caprice's notes you actually feel like you're getting the hang of it it's been studying this for a long time at this point and suddenly something it's been thundering all night lightning in but you get a flash

and you get a flash of on the corner of your eye and you look and you see the eye of the hurricane swirling above you as you see all at the same time seven simultaneous

strikes of lightning shoot down and linger in the sky for several seconds and then dissipate and looks very unnatural but it's like far and very very far right you just get the sense of what's there's some shit going on i'll uh i'll sit there and look at the sky for a couple minutes and then uh just kind of have my eyes drift back

to my my my notes and then continue to study making note of all i said okay that's one um second watch is uh you wake up and you spend some time with um and it's wet and it's cold and it's miserable. But... Oh no. Heart wakes up until you were awakened by heart. Fourth watch. As she is... her fur is a little bit drier,

but she's still wet and she says, well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. She curls up. She's like trying to get a little close to like the fire, but also close to Iris tube and not too close. but not too close, so it's weird. And then she snuggles up and does like the same cat pose whenever she can and goes to sleep. And as you enjoy your watch, I need your makeup, stuff.

So I'm sitting here with my ukulele. All dogs have fleas. All dogs have fleas. Tune my ukulele. Two. Two hours. For two hours. I'm tuning my ukulelea. Was that jones?

Yep. 21. 21. So as you're sitting there, adjusting the ukulele, you hear something, you're tuning it, you hear it doesn't sound quite right, you're trying to be quiet enough. And then you notice something a little out of view or air. You hear very, very, very faint ground. As you look over in the tin cup from Caprice's Mascat is on the ground on a rock,

shaking them. Very, very faintly. I will Ian Malcolm style tap on the top of the water a little bit. And I want to let it settle down again and see if it's still

going. You tap it and you let it settle down and it shakes. It shakes a little bit less. One more time. Did it feel like seven times? Like seven? or, you know, if you'll continue, yeah, it seems to have dissipated.

So no immediate danger. Like, I wouldn't get up or anything, okay. You just put the drums in the ground. Okay. So I will just sort of, for the rest of the morning, early morning, I was kind of meditating, think on what's about to happen. Okay. You all do a long rest again.

And you awaken in the morning. Heart kind of pokes around and, the ashes and you see a bit of metal scrap in the fire from the metal bands that were around the keg. She kind of looks sadly at it and then shakes her head and gets her packed ready and gets her armor all ready to go. She sharpens her sword and she cleans it. And you see Zorbeck love her forward, just looking about as tired as he always does. His stomach growls a little bit as he steps forward and they're ready to go. What do you guys doing? I'm not going to take a couple minutes and put my hair back up into the buns.

It was like blowing all crazy back from my head now. I will get all my things together and I will, I will swing it up my pack and I'll say, does anyone come in to carry anything as we improves the journey? It's not too much longer and I want everybody to conserve their strength. Yes, I'm exhausted and I jump up in his arms. I'm going to cast me, Jarmo, myself. arm on myself. You see, Iris,

and she's effortless for you to carry tow. I went to lift her and just place her on my one shoulder. I just hold her that way. Does anyone want to put stuff on page?

She can carry quite a bit of stuff to I don't have much. I think I'm good. Thank you, though. I will now be. Until I have no longer writer.

Wow. That's amazing. Where did she come from? All her name was made me to have in her last night. She is my, she is my steed. She's magical. Does she buy him? No, she's very friendly. And I, uh, and I, uh, and I, I leaned down to a woman and I give her a horn, like,

a little tap and say, this is hard, Peyton. She's going to be joining us for the rest of the journey. Snog comes out. Yeah. And, uh, the emotion is drenched and you all begin your journey. As you make your way closer and closer to the ring of small mountains, the wind is howling. And every hour or every 30 minutes that goes by, you have to press harder and harder against this wind in order to continue forward. As you make your way, the trees dissipate and are behind you now.

And there's nothing but just wind-swept rush as the looming crags, you rise above you. And you hear the thumbling of thunder, you see the crashing of lightning as you arrive at the base. You see that there is a very narrow pettist, the only possible spot that you can see where you might be able to pass it, but it's your motor-be-safeet. And there's a very relatively narrow path of sorts that seems to wind its way up. And you begin to make your way. And as, just to see how well you do this by getting a really bad about a lot of tactics. Ooh. You can. Do I make it with just Peyton, since I'm writing them?

I would say, I would say, would be it. Not that. Yeah, I don't think of it. You said athletics. 12. 16. Three. Also 12.

18. 15. 15. I want to roll for Hart. I got a 12 because I'm carrying iris. That's what it's great. I get on 18, we wouldn't be carried by Toa. I would say that that 18 would actually probably help Toa in order to do that.

So that will nullify yours. And with Zorbeck and Hart, they're doing well. A couple of you that didn't do too well, maybe like, Felix, you kind of lose your grip. You're not very strong, but a heart managed to reach down and pull you up. And Caprice made me the same thing. You see a massive hairy arm reach down and grab the back of your coat and heat you up onto a crag. As you all manage to eventually climb your way. And you all make your way to the top, to this pass.

And you look into the valley. up and you see where there was forest on all sides of you before at the center of this very tight ring of mountains and ridges it seems almost unnaturally made as you see a valley stretch

for you any bit of shrubbery is relatively small no higher than me height as it seems barring and rocky as

as you see however directly in the center there is a mountainous rising up at the very center of the eye on the center of this valley and at the very peak

you see a massive wooden trunk with a huge tree rising up a huge canopy of thick leaves as you see lightning arcing an older directions to it. And then you see that there are

seven additional structures. Towers built up in a ring around this center tree, very far off, almost to the mountain line, that are all, that all have a glowing

This is near the, not the magical tree, you're far away from the magical tree. And it's on top of a mountain that's smaller than the mountains. It's kind of like a hill, like a very tall hill.

And however, there is an open dome at the top. This open cylindrical dome at the top that seems to provide some protection from the rain. And you see crackling and sparking and glowing. You now see the radiating glow inside this cover. as it arcs and shoots out, arcing forward towards the large tree as well as the other towers around it.

But the major dome over the tree has been dissipated.

And there's a wide gap leading directly towards this large hill. We need to go right now. Yeah. And they waiting to run. They know we're coming. now. And yes, yes, absolutely. Let's let's go. Go on. I will climb down, I guess, the way we came and then go back out. And not still book it.

And as you are making your way, that you need to weave through these small ravines and over rock formations and climb through. And you get to the base of this large hills, this massive tree. that is rising up towards the center of this valley. As you

know that you'll need to climb for a good bit as you I need whoever's in the lead to make a perception chat. Probably. Yeah, her job. She's way faster. My favorite part about all this is that Maya has Keanu Reeves as her background. I do. Yeah.

And it can be knock on her up. Amazing. Amazing. Is that? How can you ask that question? The memes of E3. I just know it just works. That's the only mean right now.

17. Not bad. 17. As you're in the lead, you see up ahead in this tree and you see the flapping of wint. As you see a humanoid figure

beginning to fly on the large boughs of this tree. You start to see now that their structure is built into beneath the leaves of this massive tree as a lightning and shooting all around. there's no wind in you, around you. As the calm of the storm,

as the eye of the storm is calm and you notice, you're leaving the rain and wind behind. However, the lightning is still arcing towards this tree. And you see a bit of, you see the flapping of wings and a humanoid figure soar out. It doesn't seem to have noticed you yet. Are you going to do anything with this information?

How far away are my friends? I would say they're a good bit behind you. You could call out to them if you wanted to. You're not that far. I'll re-reel back on pink and just hold my hands on and I'll just say I'll stop until they've caught up to me and then I'll share this information. Okay, and I'll just point out. as just barely you all dive into this rock beneath this large rock formation and you see some pebbles scatter and you hear the flapping be silent you don't hear anything as a figure soars over and flies down as you're creeping beneath this rock some of you are able to see just very briefly as a figure flaps and hovers.

Is it clearly an air? You look and as it flies down, you see a large black bow, a scar running down the face. As you see Tyber the silent dad. Damn it. Fly down and look at the rock and look around. Dimension Door and grapple him. And he hesitates. And he flies down and then he looks up towards the tower that you left and flies off over in that direction.

That could have been very bad. Sure. As soon as we're just really confident he's gone, we're just going to fucking keep moving. Yeah, I'm going to follow choice of me. So you keep getting and you see that the incline starts to get up and up. And as you're beginning to climb, you start to feel, you get closer, you get closer and closer. You're probably about a third of the way up. This massive tree is rising up in front of you. And certainly you start, you feel the ground start to rumble beneath your feet.

humanoid figure with a metal jaw emerge above and you hear a voice call out. It's coded in magma and it falls off. And it says, Toa! Where's your honor sneaking around like a rat in the night? Where's your honor? You delivered the weak spirits to these evil creatures yourself how could you

you know they're protecting our islands to the death sentence a death sentence for them for what have you seen the power that Tiki Roa has granted me Toa on your honor I challenge you to single combat

if you defeat me I will tell you how to get to them but you will lose Wait one two three four five We all got he's the only one who's passed A couple of you passed. You said five of us were in the... So, ever got below a 20?

So you managed to dodge out of the way, and you're standing there. As you see this fissure open up and close, as you see these two Goliaths speaking. And you see now he's a metal jaw. The magma is now falling off of his body and face. And he has these two huge garments that they are cracked and coated and glowing with magma. And he looks up and he... God.

And the glow dissipates. I'm going to reach out and grab Toa's hand and I'm going to look up to him and I'm going to say, So you're telling me that you want to face

toa and single combat with the help of your god. But you don't think with all of his power you could take Toa and all of us at the same time that you have to pick on

Toa alone. You must not be that strong are you, Makuta. I do not need my God and he seems to take what you say. Very well!
