Welcome to Legends of Evantris. I'm Iris and you're listening to Beneath Dark Wings. Here's what happened last time. I think for now we should at least investigate something clearly needs going. You can see the movement of the ogres on their great beasts. There's a human. He's wounded. He's being attacked by a river troll. I think we can make it if we rush. I need to get an aura.

It's a long hour. So you're now sitting, you've collected your wares. You have these, the tiger's eyes, you have the gold, you have these long looking glass type contraptions. You have a lot of, you know, you're, and you finish, you feel a bit more restored after. The contractions? You're basically like long spy glasses, but they're huge.

Like almost as if like a telescope, but basically for an ogre able to just. Can I try to like, pick? one up and look through it. Okay, yeah. At the thing. You're going to look at the town. So I'm going to look, I'm going to pick it up and look at it, see what it looks like, and if I can use it, and let's get at least a better look at the red birds and the gathering.

Reception. McGythery Misses, ooh, deception as, deception, is four, so 19. 19, okay. I'll say you pick up this, this looking glass, and it is massive with your guilt. But with your Goliath strength, you're able to look into it. And it actually telescopes your vision incredibly far. You look down and at the center of this mountain pass, you actually see a, when you look up and you see these birds,

and they look to be, like I said, like these hawks, just kind of fly them all around. Various birds of prey, but they also have this blood red coloring in their feathers. And you notice, you just see just dozens and dozens and dozens, hundreds and more of ogres. You see their massive horn beasts. You see these same similar saber-toothed cap-like creatures

in packs or larger. All kind of coalesce around this mountain pass. And at the center of the mountain pass, we're able to actually see that there seems to be a circular, a circular flat structure. Looks incredibly ancient. And there are two figures standing. One is a hill giant

that seems to be even larger and fatter than any of the others that you can see. Making this track. With a strange kind of of like rusty rusty metal circular

not quite a crown but like these awkward feathers are kind of plucked into it or not plucked into it but fastened up upon it almost just like this strange kind of like headdress crown combination and it seems to be considerably larger with a massive massive tree trunk on its back.

The other is, the other figure in this center, is a ogre, considerably larger than the other oger's that you've seen. And this one you see looks a little bit different as you notice kind of, as this incredible device that you have, telescopes in and you're actually able to see that it has, not just one, but two has. as they

this this ogre creature is two-headed and fully armored and with an elaborate set of like full gaudy armor

and the amount of metal and leather it would have taken to fit this huge body is incredibly impressive almost with this kind of strange a fixture on its back with spikes all along it, with a variety of skulls on every single one of the spikes. They look around and seem to be waiting for something. As you look through, you can see past the overpass. You remember that you'd kind of left the clockwood and had approached these highlands,

enter these highlands. And it seemed as if you start to see on the other side of this mountain range, the forest continue. And sort of stretch out to the lands below on the other side of this mountain range. They seem to be waiting for something. Hey gosh, I think I see a lot of stuff and I relay everything I just saw. But it looks like they're waiting. That's a lot of stuff I just saw, but they're waiting for something.

And I'm not sure how I have any of these things. Can I bring one with me? Would it be unreasonable to do so? I mean, you could like strap it to your back, but it would be like a massive, a massive weapon. At least for now, while we're on the bluff, I want to keep it on me. I want to keep one.

Strap to my back. Before you strap that thing down, you didn't see any blonde hair out there, did you? Let me take a look. I look for blonde hair out there. I'll keep your perception check. You don't see any blonde hair. Gage how far away that looks.

You would gauge that. They're not very far, but they're surely far enough where... Yeah, day's way. I think we can do what we want to do here without any interference in there. Okay. I guess my question is how long would it take a ticket to them if we feel that's something we need to do? I mean, I don't think we can take an entire... army of ogres and giants.

Was there any other path around them, or does it look like we had to go right through them to get to continue on our journey? Well, there was a more dangerous path that we stuck, right? So, you got the sense that this was a path through the mountains. You know that the mountain range basically ends at the furthest port north. Generally, most travelers just go around and then head towards

into the rest of the Corvacia. But this seems to be a path that just cuts directly through the mountains at a particular point. So that's just the difference there. So this is a shortcut versus... You would probably, I would say, make that assessment. So should we go back then? I don't think Jamonie wants to fight these guys with us.

I don't know if I feel comfortable doing it either. Well, I think at least while we're here, we have to get to the top and see if we see any of those bull creatures. We'll find Nora, or find Felix's brother, or anyone else. Yeah, honestly, I'm inclined to just go up and watch. I mean, we're going to be able to confront an army. I agree. We can just hunker down and kind of just observe.

I guess the question is, if we do find out that the bull creatures are working with these creatures, then what? I mean, do we just take that information and hope to, you know, sit on it, or do we want to, I mean, I guess we wait and see it. The whole world is a mess. We're not going to fix the whole mess that is this world. Sure, I agree. We might not be able to stop this, but knowing as much as we can know, I think, is an endeavor of value all by itself. All right.

Then perhaps you find a better vantage point when we hunker down for a while and just kind of watch them. If when we get adjacent to where they're at, if there looks to be like a tower or some sort of a place where they might have Nora, then maybe it's for that or reason. But until we get closer, I'm not willing to make a call right now. I just think that we need to spend the next few hours getting in there. Agreed. Maybe you just keep an eye out for Nora. Maybe if we find out more information, they could be waiting for, I mean, she could be like a sacrifice, and that's what they're waiting on. Yeah, if she gets pulled out to get sacrificed, we need to know.

going in what we're going to do and and be able to read each other because she she could get sacrificed and honestly as much as any of us are compelled to jump into that arena and try and save that girl there are there are hundreds of over there and we're not going to i mean i i can make teeth look like horses but i can't compete with that kind of power to be fair oh i'm sorry you didn't never mind this is that we don't even know if they happen all we know is that what's his face, Norvester, that he said his sister's been gone for a while. He doesn't have any confirmation that the overs or whatever they are happen. So we're certainly looking at her.

I think operating off of the assumption that she's already been captured is actually a negative for us because that puts a sort of disadvantage and we don't have that information. I still think we need to find out what they're up to. Regardless of whether she's with them or not, I just don't like this gathering. I think that you make a good point there, Iris. I would say if it doesn't look like she's been captured and there's no obvious place, then we might actually expect an attack from her

if she's about to jump into the mess herself. I have no idea what her plans are. If she's captured or if she's safe and on her way. Jammey, can you leave us the fastest rat from here to there? Are you familiar enough with this bluff of area. From the top of this fucking place down the way down there? Exactly right. I mean I can certainly try. I mean it's gonna take a bit to get down here. A rope that is covered in this kind of strange, like, viscous, the strange, like viscous coating on it. That seems to be kind of like rudimentary, But it seems they've been kind of in climbing gear for these owners. It's surprising that they would use these. As if they were meant to come, as if they were more proficient in kind of scaling up and down these blossom clips. Okay, well, I'll pocket the 27 gold, and then I'll take a closer look at this rope.

And I get a sense of what's going on? I would say that with co-assisting you, you would have to be a discussion. I was going to say, if he's being assisted, You'd see. So. Nora might be a part of that. There is wrong. So it sounds like they're kids. capturing humans and delivering them to these ogres or capturing them. And, well, hold on. So it's the letter to them. It's orders from Thola the Butcher to the ogres you just killed.

To keep an eye on the sermon. To keep an eye on with, you can get a sense that you said, that we will basically keep an eye on those and will deliver the humans once the Horn Legion makes good on their word and the transformation there's a weird question, but do I think that the log is a male or female man? Please don't seduce the or make an intelligence check with

disadvantage. You have no fucking... So, I hate to say this, because I know we didn't want to get involved with these guys. If they're trying to sacrifice humans, we can't allow that to happen. And more importantly, it sounds like they might have humans that have

Well, this is my thought is that if we were to have your bird, pick up the letter and just drop it from the ceiling into the middle, someone would pick it up, and then news would spread from there. They clearly used these fox to deliver their various messages.

Because write them in order, and once we get that far, it might take a little while for us to actually transcribe this, but then I will apply the seal.

mend the document, and then we can drop it in and let this information bomb do with the right idea. All right, so what are we going to tell them to do? I would propose that we start with the signature at the top, Solog the butcher, and the last thing that he says should probably be something along the lines of, the Horn Legion has betrayed us, abandoned the bluff, and something along those lines. We probably add a clause in there that something along the lines of the humans are no longer valuable. Leave them to starve in their cells. And we can pick up the parts afterwards.

And again, I think this is a good plan. We'll have to figure out what we're going to do with any number of infected individuals. We have to be careful. We don't accidentally spread this plague. Yeah, no, I mean, you've really put the fear of me when it comes to that front, given what we've seen so far. so far. If there are any infected individuals or they're close to transforming, we need to be prepared for that too, but at the least we might be able to persuade the folks to disperse or hurt their alliances. Whatever is keeping them together. Let's try to damage that as much as possible.

And again, I know that where I come from is not the best place here, but, you know, the military, and again, what I saw was an illusion. The military was burning these people alive wholesale. There doesn't seem to be a cure. And we need to eventually reach back out to brother Gruber to find out if his cure is working. As of now, there is no cure. I do want to write him as soon as we get to our next center of civilization, be it town or a city or something along those lines. Man, I so wish that you had grown up in Galta de.

Let me just reiterate just to make sure that you guys are clear. You are on Butcher's Bluff and the top, and then what is ahead is not that. So they're the mountain pass. So instead of saying abandon Butchers Bluff, say something like, abandon the ceremony, abandon the altar, abandon the...

Almost bigger than the ogre, smaller than the giant. Large, hairy, horned, bull-like, human-like. Yeah, yep, yep. And holding, holding a large crown intricately woven. It steps forward. Five takes it, places it on its head, its pass. All of a sudden, you start to see the shifting of the flesh.

And all of a sudden the flesh starts shifting, hair sprouts over its entire body. Its muscles bulk up, horns sprout out of its forehead, large black horse. Its eyes blaze with this bloodthirsty red glove.

Does it look just like the one that put it on his head now? The ogre who did that did that looks. Former Beachville than it did several moments prior. But does it look just like another bullman? Or is he still like a little bit of a hood? No, he's still on his...

But he's... Covered in hair and hair. And points. Okay. Because of it... They took... The transformation literally just happened. What? And then you are watching this.

I'm still watching. The second the bull creature pulls it from the ogre, the hill giant. Its gut hits the ground as it leans forward. He's doing to the giant now. Put it on the head. Same exact thing. The skin shifts, the muscles up bolt.

Hair sprouts over its entire body. This is disgusting. Horns sprout from his head. And both of them have just jagged, You see their teeth start to change as their teeth shift from the standard kind of just gross maw into these razor-sharp teeth. And all of a sudden, both of these creatures kind of are bolted up. They are decently larger than they were before. Guys, how are they doing this?

There's this crown, it's this big iron crown. And I think one of the bull guys mentioned the crown at some point. He just put it on their heads. He did it to a giant animal in there both. It was seemingly way more powerful now. They just changed. They just shit. Yeah, they got bigger.

They got horns. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Did they change like Amon changed? Amos, son? No, no, no, no. It was very instantaneous. They put the crown on and they just like balked out. Right in front of us.

But the bulking, I mean, whatever happened to Amos might have been like a slow-mo version of... It could be. Like, do you... I'm bulking at the side of it or like bulking up. Like balkinized. Vulcanized? I think that's completely different game. I mean, like,

monstrous vicious nation, a legion making its way. Meanwhile, the owing, but they're still going to be in the giant beyond the mountain. Meanwhile, each of the hill giant chief and the ogre warlord leave the circle. They then begin to press a hand on each of their subjects. their subjects, you see the same transformation happening.

Oh, dear, Lord. And all of them sort of shift and change and morph as the ogre upon, ogre upon giant, upon giant, hairy, horn beasts, as they then start to, as soon as they get their blessing, their transformation, they then start walking and following in the same direction as this herald of the horn king.

And they start to march and follow, and follow down into the forest, passing through the mountain pass. So they're still going into the mountain pass? What cardinal direction are they headed? They're heading south, they're heading east. They're heading east. Oh, so the beast fed are going back east. They're going back east. So I will draw.

You can just jump right down on here, right? Yeah, here. Or if there's a stair, let me get this back on here. So you know, Morrow. Let's say this right here is the mountain pass, this X. Uh-huh. Butcher's bluff is like right here, right? A little hook.

It's very difficult to tell, but it could be approaching. Many. Many, many, many, many. It seems like you see a sea of hairy creatures that seem to be, it's difficult to make out even a single figure in this mass of creatures that seem to be in the thousands. Overs and giants, obviously few aren't far between. This is hundreds, but they seem to be joining their ranks, walking side by side.

And eventually, you make your way through the foothills

and the highlands, and you eventually find perched on a very high outcropping, this very large, elaborate lodge that kind of spans all the way down with a variety building. It's almost like a compound. And this group of, of, of, of, of, refugees is finally that they've been traveling for so long, they've been captive for so long,

they've been captive for so long, they're finally relieved. And you've arrived, all of you, and Nestor says, we're finally here, Nora. You've arrived at the Lockfeather Lodge, and you're all of the five. That's a perfect. You're supposed to end it. Yeah, five, I get some coo-shunds.
