Welcome to Legends of Aventris. I'm Iris and you're listening to Beneath Dark Wings. Here's what happened last time. I think we like, I know we never did this for any other campaigns, but I like to start off of the recap of what happened last time from people's notes. But I don't know. But first we need to cut to the really, really cool video intro, right? Oh, yes, okay.

We are Legends of Aventriss and we'll see you in the shadow of some dark wings. The screen transitions to... black. We see the edge of the world of avatrous. You can't use the word edge. A sun immediately emerges casting light over many continents and realms of avatrous. We suddenly start

plummeting, zooming towards Stricka. I could do this the whole thing, but I won't. You don't have to RP this, Derek. Kelsey, would you like to read the recap that you read to us prior to the stream? Yes. So many

things happened, but basically the most important of which was that towards the end of things Vorak was bulging. Wow, he really skipped a lot. You want to get you up to that point? Anka-Tep begins to fill him. Oh, holy shit,

this got sexual. And that's really all I had. Okay, all right. This is what I've got. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. We dream blowing red all around. Badlands. Blowing portals only familiar to Kapoor. blood red sun, black structures, some sort of eclipse, war in the sky.

The Vati, the Vati and demons, humanoid, spiral horns, hulking, hairy, head stitched together. It's really is actually. Five-headed cobra, colossal worm, many mouths, pile of eyeballs shifting. A bile whale? Question mark? Feminine sheet. Centipede with three skulls and organs spilling out. Hypotic lamp-like fish creatures, fins and tentacles.

She something wilds, wields, oh, she wields a pitchfork. Four black wings, jagged, beak, swords, six eyes. Reminiscent of Miska, the wolf spider. We sees Siket, skeddy. Demons pouring out in portals. Pizzou overruns all planes. We see an owlful. Combinus visited by an owl.

Rajani visited by a hawk. Verac, what is his name? Vorok. Vorok visited by a vulture. We see Zern's perspective, lost an arm, visited by a raven. I stopped taking notice. Perfect.

I think it pretty much just goes right into what I said. Oh, the very sexual bulging and he fills him? Yes, exactly right. Got it. Okay. Also, I look like Iris. Oh, yeah. And I'm about to die.

So that's, you know, neither here nor there. So we actually wake up from the dream and then we see Zern's Raven. And he is speaking to us through the Raven. We have some very heated exchange. We almost felt an infighting and I almost incinerated Tola. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we got pretty intense. No, we did have some inter-party conflict of the argument variety,

not so much of the physical variety. Then we set out to find an entrance into... We set out to find an entrance into the golden pyramid. We did all sorts of challenges. We went through the golden pyramid, and there was a bone snake with wings. And it was a creepy, crawly bone snake. And it tried to eat us, but we didn't succeed.

some really creative clever things and finally we laid down in coffins that basically worked like elevators and got us down to a banquet dinner where we saw the mummy men and we saw the bloated bulging

And then Iris basically like popped him like a balloon. And the pestilence infected on the tap. And then he was like, oh, fuck you guys. And he snatched the real Iris and flipping the sky. Oh, yeah. Sacrificial dagger her to try to like extract the car from her. Oh, yeah. Iris inside.

That's what that means. Sorry. And I answered. There's no reason for me to be out. I think we're about to throw down. I did a decent job. I couldn't remember all of the challenges. Yeah.

You begin this session, at the top of Pharaoh's rest, the golden pyramid, at the far edge of the city of the dead, the capital of Harrier, the dread domain where you've spent the past several days.

there are two figures atop this pyramid its sloping point having shifted around to a square platform leveling out to match each level of its rising structure

at the center of this platform beneath a massive full moon glowing with an eerie, otherworldly supernatural blue light, like the fullest moons you've seen back in at avantris, but turned up beyond 11.

One figure is the Pharaoh, Ancatep, the former priest of Anubis, turned priest of set, turned dreadlord of this dark domain, imprisoned here as he attempted to unleash the chain God, countless lifetimes ago. He stands with his royal and divine vestments, cloaking his horrific, mummified, desiccated body,

still moving with great strength and humming with power. The second figure is bound to a square altar. A connopic jar with a cat's head, lid. sits at each corner of this altar. As Ancatep approaches you, Iris, you are fully aware of what's happening, but your body is completely bound by the magical necrotic bandages

that make you as still as the grave. Only your senses have any kind of control here. You feel the cool air at this high in the dread domain, the night and desert. And the glow of the moon is blotted out first by the gilded headdress of Ancatep, and then by his form, his mighty staff and his curved blade, and he looms over you.

And he looks down as his blade is turned over, over your chest and he leans down and he exhales but you know you see no lungs fill with air it is a mockery of life once again

that rattling putrid desiccated air shoots out of his mouth and you feel it on your skin and it fills you with disgust and he says I have waited for this moment. Combine my copy,

be my priestess in death, claim. Revenge, I will. Achieve oblivion and you will take my place as the dark lord here in prison for all time while I sleep, return to me. In a very fluid motion,

very surprising. for an animated mummy. You barely feel the blade pierce your chest as it punctures your heart. You feel the dark necrotic energy pulls through your entire body as your heart stops. You feel your life force slipping away

and completely unable to move your eyes locked on the face of this dreadlord as he sacrifices you. As your senses fade, your life slipping away, your last breath escaping from your mouth, you can see in that breath the glowing,

orangey, goldish fragment of memory. The piece of cawerels into the air and rises is Iris of the Sands, you die. Jeez. What the fuck? Meanwhile, do we see any of this? No.

There is a... Like full death, three failures? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Thanks for playing.

Happy birthday. Happy birthday. You're dead. Please leave. It is at this point where you hear a cacophony above you. of pulsing, swirling, gyrating energy. As you hear from the chamber far above you, you hear Ancatep's voice barely,

and you see that flash of orangey gold above you as it gyrates, and suddenly the binding bandages that had petrified you so terribly as still as the grave suddenly slip and lose their power. You now are all sitting at the quiet banquet hall, the balcony looking out onto Haurakir at night, beneath this full moon. Only the four of you and the horrific gore

that stains this place. And you see, just the lower half of Vorok. Pieces of his organs and bone and skin all over the food, all over you, all over the walls.

As remnants of stain of that horrible pestilence that Iris that you had seen had been coursing through and withering his undead flesh away, Ancateps flesh away. As you finally are able to free yourselves and gain your agency once more in this chamber.

And is open above us? Like, does we have to go out and around? So there is an open, like a square passageway that goes up, that goes up considerably high, and it seems to be open somewhere. And you can see the glow of that claw energy that you're so familiar with at this point. We have to find arms! Come on, let's go. I would immediately follow you.

I bought myself back in the Caprice. Yeah, I'm right behind you. And is there any ladder or any corner? No. Any handle? No. How far, like, how high up is that? I would say you look up and you gauge,

and it's about 60 feet, probably in the air, to where you can see the top of this, the shoot that goes down. And it seems to be covered somehow. But you can see around. this dark square that you look up, there's that gyrating, pulsating energy. So perhaps like a lid you can take off or some sort of... You get the sense that that is the direction of where it is, but you're not sure what is at least past that entrance.

D.M? Yes. Since I am dead, may I go get a blankie? Yes. No. Sorry. Oh. Felix. Yeah, I know.

I'm looking. Oh, oh. What are you doing? I'm looking. Oh, no. Felix. Can you make a part? to a minute yes i can i can i can make us fly uh provided that a strength of 26

could basically carry all of us would it be with telekinesis that'd be with arcane hand i could use telekinesis but i would say why don't we roll for it let's see how how quickly your arcane hand can can get all of you but i would allow that 26 is crazy fucking strong that's only four of us right right oh there's only four of you and that's like the strength beyond a storm giant oh yeah absolutely all right then i will cast arcane hand and with, you know, the daggers glowing arcane blue, the hand appears, and I'll jump into the poem of the archaing hand and say, all right, come on everybody. Thanks, Felix. I'll hop under the thumb like a horse. Perfect. Once everyone is on, I'm going to concentrate on the hand and try to raise us up towards this thing. Okay. This area and try to get a closer look at what might be there. Okay. You see this shimmering silver hand emerge in this room and the glow of the arcane magic in this room where all of these skeletal servants have collapsed into piles.

The torches have been snuffed out by this horrible ticking time bomb that Virgil Zern seemingly left for the pharaoh. And the shimmering arcane magic of Felix's power hums and casts a strange glow, as you all manage to climb on. And Toa is very heavy, but there are only four of you, and you're able to slowly rise as you see this, as you see this shirating energy get brighter and brighter as you rise higher and higher into this pathway, this opening to the top of the pyramid. To be that guy,

but if for some reason this takes longer than a minute I'm going to have to recast Arcane Hands. So let me know. I will say you feel like this is take, you're not sure if you're going to have to harness more of your magic, but you feel that just as you feel like your spell is about to give out and lose power, you finally see where you're headed,

as you are rising up beneath a large stone altar, with about a five-foot gap all around it, the altar is hovering in the air, suspended by some sort of magic. You see the light of the full moon above you mixed in with the gyrating energy of the caw, as you see Hara Kear spread out as soon as your head

arrives at that five foot gap and the hand shimmers and disappears just as you're all able to leap out and stand atop the golden pyramid of Pharaoh's rest. And you only have a chance to see for just a moment as you look around and there are seven

egg-shaped holders that you'd seen throughout the pyramid humming with orangey gold energy all blasting towards the center of the pyramid, almost forming the top of the pyramid in its point once more. And at the center of this glowing, orange energy, you see a shape emerge.

It seems to be humanoid. It seems to be a man wearing priest-like vestments. And it's difficult to make out at first, but you realize you've seen this vision. It's a human form, live form of Ancotep. As all seven of his pieces recombine into his soul for just a moment and all goes quiet. As you see a suspended orange soul floating at the top of the pyramid, and it rockets down to the center, filling the undead mummified form of Pharaoh Ancatep.

As you, he's across the altar from you, and you see the altar now, there are these four conopic jars, and the altar is covered in blood. But it's empty. As Ancatep fills with power, you see now where there had been horrible pestilence and rot,

actually consuming his withered flesh, crumbling his bone. The horrible demonic magics that Virgil Zern had unleashed upon him through King Vorok. You see him search, Yes, my soul returns, I am whole. And you see the, as his vestments a flap in the energy and the wind that whips all around you, you see that pulsing seal. In the same shape, the final unbroken seal that chains the chain God away in the black pyramid far to the north.

But as Ancatep rises into the air and recombines with his fully formed soul, his Ka, you see that he's not alone. you see that beside him standing tall investments you see withered flesh patches of fur exposed teeth as an undead mummified version of your friend who had been living and full so full of vitality moments before now withered seemingly ancient mummy priestess stands by beside her Pharaoh. Anyone roll for an issue, have one. Oh, shit.

Oh, shit. Including me. Including you. And those, I'm gonna use your dye. Oh, my God. What are you fighting us? I don't know. Looks like you.

And I rolled absolutely atrocious to start today. Oh, got an advantage. Nice. Oh, big money. You just put my card at the end. I like this dice, because it's, for. Welcome on in Game Gamesi or Gamesi. and the disease that had afflicted him, is still eating away at him, and he seems to be more desiccated. He stands tall and pulses with this power that almost feels divine. Almost, it reminds you somewhat of the divine power that Iris had utilized, but coming from the soul, the being of a man, or who had once been a man. and as Anka-Tep, Anka-Tep gestures to Iris and says, I introduce you to the first high priestess

of the God King Ankadap. Now, as your first act, how will you serve your pharaoh? I will kill your enemies, my lord. And I will step forward in front of him and raise my staff. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. So, let's get some minis. Oh, fuck, good.

As Irish is here. We are going to... So the green guy's on Katow. Yeah. Because the minis. Well, I'll be honest. These numbers aren't what I expected. Yeah. Do you want to use this creepy anubis-like minis?

that the blood on the altar is iris's organs, and that basically the process of freeing the ca mummified iris basically instantly, kind of how he rose all of those killed dustals as basically skeleton warriors immediately. And he's not back to his young full self. No, but that was his soul. That's his soul, yeah, you see the soul,

basically it was an ethereal version. His ca has reformed and now is shot back into him, and now he's kind of pulsing with this, strange, otherworldly divine, basically mockery of divine light. Which will make him like a kind of clerical. Because he did gesture to you and you said this, I'm going to give Mommy Iris a chance to do something first

and then we'll start initiative. I am going to cast spirit guardians around myself at a fifth level. And I will protect him against it. So that if anyone moves towards us, they will have to deal with my guardians. Yeah, fuck that shit. Okay. I actually need Iris and Felix's initiative.

As they both radiate with this mockery of the divine,

these false, the false god, where you had perhaps thought that it was a nobs satan, that you had killed the idol. But no, it's in fact, it is Ancatep himself, who is descending to some sort of demigodood. You're not quite sure, but Irish channels this. And you see a swirling sandstorm as you see that familiar howling, opening mouth in the sand,

almost trying to devour all of those who enter the Spirit Guardians. And if there wasn't any other additional flavor, you want to add to that. I think that's great. Okay. It's like the great film The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss. Wouldn't have it any other way. With that, as it swirls around, and Ankatap is just basking, and you almost get the scent that he feels very, he looks at you with approval and he nods.

Yes, my high priestess. You're doing so well, Randy. and he's a proud dad. He's a proud dad. And you actually see a sense of joy. And you can probably imagine the sense of completeness for someone whose soul has been not just present, but split apart in seven pieces

and is now not only combined but also return to him. As it happens, and with that, is Capriza's turn. I don't know, what the fuck. Yeah, right? It's Spirit Guardian's concentration? Yes. It's going to get out of me. What happens if we kill Iris Twopies?

And eight points of fire. to fire damage. I passed me safe. With that, Ankhatep is going to use a legendary action. And he's going to look at Utoa and say, Do not harm my high priestess! And his eyes flash and blast with this strange false god energy. As he uses dreadful glare, I need to make a wisdom

saving throw for me. It's so scary! What did we do? Very bold. Whiz, you say? Whiz, yes. Can I twist? Of course.

Thank you, Chatt. Big you chat. Great died as well. It was faded. Double threes. Two, three, so it's a five total. So you failed by more than five.

Those are not working. Those are not words I ever want to hear ever again. You feel more than that same. So not only as this mummy god king stares at you, not only are you horrified and you feel like you need to run, but your body locks up. You are paralyzed for one. So before that would have happened, I would have been like, please no, don't attack him!

He's controlling it. They're not on IRA. Oh! And with that, it is layer action. You were stone? No, he's just parallel. He's like frightened into paralysis. I am 40% stone, though. With that, he says,

But then you hear buzzing of hundreds, maybe thousands of wings. As swarming up the pyramid, you see a massive cloud of undead, lapis-lasel-shelled scarabs as they descend upon you as Six swarms of undead scarabs. Cool.

One on Felix. One attack Iirs. And then we're gonna have one on Caprice, and you'll see why. What do you mean? We'll see why. I don't look like Iirs anymore, but that's where you made.

As they swarm, and as they get close to Caprice and to Felix, You see, although they are trying to devour and burrow into all of you, their shells flash blue as they get close to Felix and Debrose. As they start to... Magic Eaters. ...attack you. As they... Manaburn. Manaburn. Manaburn. Manaburn.

Wait, I can say nothing. Magic Eater. Holy shit. I love Manabird! Sorry. Oh, that's not good. Those of us that aren't dead, Rudolf Movo, we are 15.

Level 15. Level 15. Okay, I'm going to roll. I'm like, change your plans, change your plans. Every time, change your plans, I can't do that, can't do that shit. On Caprice, the hot, one's gonna be a natural one and the other's gonna be a 16.

Okay. As they all descend upon you, if your AC's higher than 23. No, no, it'll block one of them. Okay, got. I was just wondering if I cast magic if I'm gonna get. So you cast magic and nothing happens right now.

But you- You'll get hit by one of you. You raise your shield at one side. as they are blasts and it seems like an insect some sort to die a little. So these are swarms. These are massive swarms. Swarms.

Just to pull back the veil, I stole from Nikki's pigeon minions. And however, on your side, you feel them start to burrow. It's going to do some damage here. Caprice, you're able to swap these away, but I'm going to need you, Felix, to make a constant. Constitution saving throw.

Get the fuck out of, you have bugs? And I'm going to do some damage here. Roger. My constitution change, though, is a 23. 23. You feel them burrow in, and although there's a end, you're gonna take nine, 12, 13 points of piercing damage. Okay.

As they start to burrow, as you feel them trying to devour your magical essence inside. As you see Felix, these insects, there's like pock marks that he's glowing blue from the end. as they're starting to dig in there. Now we're gonna make an attack on Toa, 16. They're at Vintage. Oh, that's right.

You don't have to roll that. 21. And it's a creep, I think. Yes. Oh. It's an automatic credit for the use to get ahead. Maintain Game Spin. If I had a dollar for our time, said paralysis is the nastiest finishing in the game.

I have a lot of dollars. Oh, wow. And I didn't get a chance to rate, 11. 16, and they went straight for the boys. 22. 25,

nobody can't. 28, 28, 30 points of piercing damage. Holy hell! Stamatic, because I'm literally paralyzed just being devoured by scarrows. I need a consummate throw for me. Oh no. At least that I shouldn't be disadvantaged or anything.
