You're back in Volaki and listening to Curse of Stradania, a legends of a Ventress podcast. Last time, the Ezran expedition charged into the tidal wave of death and slaughtered their way through the countless risen corpses of Velaki Townsvalk. It was not long before they encountered the orchestrator of this necromanic catastrophe. Lady Vauctor with her long-dead husband now fused into a flesh abomination with her slaughtered cultists. Lady Fiona Vauctor, standing there in a new form, one unlike you have seen before, reminiscent of Stradanya herself. Lady Fiona Vachter, now a vampire herself, flanked on either side right and left, two bloodthirsty vampire spawn, cradling onto her like a mother, and shambling from the house. The horrific form of what once was Nikolai Wachter, her husband. But now a shambling mass of body parts, heads, arms, fingers sticking out this way and that from his form.

Some faces you recognize the cultists from her basement. And as she notices you, she raises forth from the ground a mass of bodies, skeletons, zombies, as they flank you, a horde of them, swirl around you. And it takes everything that you can to fell them as you begin to walk towards her. She smiles, one of her fangs glistening in the newly formed light, but seeming not to affect her, the sunlight beaming down from the sky. Far enough away, she is safe here under the clouds. She looks at all of you. She calls her husband forward, and you watch as the mass gets larger and larger as this form of bodies barrels down the cobblestone. directly at you, bits of filth and flesh flying from him as he runs directly towards

which one of you is the weakest. Oh, not me. I'm 117 to 122. I have 16 out of 107. Excuse me? 16 hit points? This is that all amount of knowledge. You're just going to be a bad.

I have two. You watch as this creature begins to barrel down the cobblestone. larger than you would expect, nearing seven feet tall with the mass of bodies that form him, but all the while the main face being that of Nikolai. And you watch as his nose begins to sniff at the air as he runs, but not just his nose. Three, four, five of the cultists begin to sniff the air out of the undulating form of this flesh golem. as all of their heads turn to look at Victoria and they run directly at her.

I need you all to roll for initiative. And do we have like a moment as they're running, do we get like a chance to kind of do spells and stuff? Do we get around? If you have, if you have, did I say you, you don't get a round of attack but we get a preparatory thing,

like a mage armor, that kind of thing. then yes. This is so important, and I don't know. This is very important. What I do I want to use? Do I want a major-rmer or? Do you want a major-rmer or a turn that is an attack? That is not an attack.

And then I'm going to reach into my bag and pull out the scroll and throw it into my lantern and expend it and cast mass cure wounds. So everyone will enjoy some healing here. 30 points of healing to everybody. 30 points of healing. I rolled pretty well, and my fire boy gives me an extra D8. As I will continue to hold up the sun radiating,

radiating medallion, the symbol of ravenkind as well. That helps. And as he's running down, I'll get healed by Garrick's, and I'm going to say, I'm tapped out, but this is the best I can do. Mulfium and my limbs burst out and I grow hair. My gigantic ape arms starts out of my torso, and I grow into a gigantic. Oh my God.

As I am staring the creature down with my action, I'm going to use Slayers prey. And I am up real good. And while I do that, I reach into the back, like a pouch that I have on my hip. And I pull out two rings of circular six-cylinder rings that are blowing very brightly as I pop open two containers on judgment and redemption. and I pop them in and I say, all right, Doc, we're going to see how well these bad boys work. And I cast lightning arrows on my pistol. Okay.

Very cool. Very cool. Well, sharpness takes a minute to apply. Yeah. I never remember to do these things before combat. I'm the worst. I'm just going to stand up front in the middle with my nagging dot in my hand.

and a wide stance that I'm just going to eye this guy down and say, Victoria, you must stay behind me at all costs. And that's just kind of. I cast false life on myself, so I go like extra pale and then kind of imbued again with some color in my life. I look better. With that, it is. Oh, my turn.

No, it is not your turn. With that, it is what's considered the lair action. You watch as Lady Vauctor's eye as glass. low, bright, and you see this form in front of you begin to move even faster. He barrels closer to you. He's now about 30 feet from you. Or 40 feet from you, I'm sorry. It is his turn. So he is going to use his, he is going to use one of his abilities. You watch as he once again, all of these heads are turning and sniffing the air, tongues lolling lifelessly. out of them. Their eyes,

milky, white, and lifeless, as they sniff around and all of the heads once again turn this close you can hear the creaking of the bones in their neck. As the heads move in his form and all of them begin to sniff towards Victoria as he charges

and he is going to use his slam and burst attack against Victoria. I need Kana, Shepard, and Victoria to all make dexterity saving throws. So he's running up like here-ish, or here? No, he's running directly.

He's basically running, pushing them out of the way and slamming directly into people. Oh, wow. Like here. Yes, and so I need you to make. Natural, ho, winty. So you are able to keep your place. You are not knocked prone,

and you will only take half of the damage. 16. 19. You will fail. Kana, you succeed. So those you passed are not knocked prone. Those who failed are not prone, and you will take the full damage versus that. Unfortunate.

Okay. Please, we only like a little bit. 22 points of the full. 22 points of necrotic damage as he slams into. And the bits and mass of him are slicing it, you fingernails, rending your flesh. As Victoria, he attempted to engulf you, but you were able to resist it. and that was his first attack. He is going to continue to look at you

And as you're piercing into the flesh, blisters and boils begin to pop on him. bits of flesh spill out on you and begin to sizzle on the outfit that you're wearing, searing away at your flesh, these necrotic pox begin to form, and you are going to take some damage. That's not good. Gross. You're going to take 15 points of necrotic damage.

Oh, okay. I already fucked up. I've got an initial D6 on my save. He definitely hit you on his. on his second attack. Celsie. No. Sorry, I don't want it.

No, thanks. 17 points of necrotic damage. Yay. And then he's going in for his third attack. Third? Yes. And that is going to hit as well. Nine points of necrotic damage.

Okay. It is with that that you watch as this creature is is hunching over Victoria the mouths on his bulbous form are salivating as they're looking down at her sniffing

at her weakened state they seem hungry for the weakest of you and it is now Sarnax's turn how dexterous are all of you please don't extremely and I'm fireproof let it fucking rip by

Extremely give me what you got Sarnax I'm gonna raise my I hold my lantern up with one hand and the sunlight is radiating out of the symbol of Ravenkind and look towards Victoria and I'm going to look at her and says, do you have faith in Garrick's Victoria? Yes, sir. And I'm going to have my spirit of Garrick's consume her in flame and teleport her 30 feet away

behind the giant ape. Holy shit. And he bursts out. So she moves, he moves here? No, so both of them move 30 feet away in any direction. Which direction would be like? And so this way? Behind the giant eight, 30 feet behind the giant eight.

And I am going to, how rough do you look? I look, I look a little haggard. I look fairly haggard. Okay, I am going to, I'm just something going to look at him and I'll raise my lantern and say, he's like, now you will burn and cast a sacred flame, deck saving throw,

because I don't want to blow all my shit. He fails? Oh, wow, does he? Holy shit, that never happens. Bop. Bop. Bop. Oh, that's, oh, that was a two. That was a two, that wasn't a one.

You look as she embrace. She embraces one arm around one of the vampire spawn, one around the other, as they begin to nuzzle into her neck, kissing along her jaw arms and down her throat and her collarbones, and she just watches. and got sprayed with stuff, would I kind of understand, oh, when they get hit. Roll intelligence check. That's where I'm a Viking. 14. Are you that 14? I would say you at least were able to tell that there was something about the way that she was attacking

You watch as Clayton in this new form scales up the sides of one of these buildings, ripping off a bit of the shingles. He hurls it out and you see as it slams into this creature, it embeds in between some of the rib bones of one of the cultists on his side.

As the mouths open and they let out a wail of pain as it sinks in, you then see as arm bones begin to grab at it and pull it deeper in as they consume this piece of shingle, and he seems to take the damage. Interesting. Let me just have my movement to stand up. I'm going to move three squares to my remaining feet and shots of the group. Scatter! Don't want to get too close as I fire off three shots into my point-blank range. Okay.

That one's probably gonna be a miss. I have to look at my modifiers. I always forget them. I apologize. Probably possible. Oh no, that's 17 and then 29. How about this? And 20. I need you to make three Constitution saving those for me, please. Yikes. So he is under the effects of my Slayer's prey. So that will add a little, pretty much. The DC is 18. Okay, that's better. Okay, now let me just roll all this damage because it's going to be a lot. What type of damage is this? The regular shots, oh actually it's all lightning. So that's going to be 10. And 8 is 18 plus another 11 is 29, plus 6 is 27, plus 2 is 13, plus 2 is 13, plus 4. 17 plus 4 is 17 plus 6 is 23, 11, 15 is 26, plus 3 is 29, plus 6 is 35, which is going to be 50, 35 points of damage.

You stand up looking directly into one of the faces of the cultists. You notice that this one is younger, the youngest of the cultists that you saw as you take out judgment and redemption in your fire one shot you're blasted with viscous material from this creature it singes away at you the second shot singes more flesh the third shot singes even more as the barrels of your weapons begin to smoke and you watch as this creature begins to shake and almost smile forms on all the faces as it imbues itself with lightning damage and you watch as it heals for every single point of damage that it took How much did you say that was?

85. And the Constitution saving throws were individual points of damage. What the fuck? He's a Frankenstein. Individual hits for each of the cons? Yes. Since I don't know them, I'm just going to divide it by three. That's fine.

20-something points of damage and they're well over 10. Okay. That's my turn. Kana. Can I infer that the con saves are because of how close we are to him? Okay. Can I also infer... It's when you do damage and you're within a certain amount of range.

So if you're doing range attacks on him, it won't affect you, but you're also not going to be causing the damage tax to happen to your allies. Do I feel like it's... If I had reach, I would be okay or I wouldn't know? You wouldn't know. Okay. Seeing him do lightning damage, can I infer that lightning's no-go or is this a special ability looking at Lady Walkder that she's imbuing on him? You, I will say you can look back and see that she is tackling as she is being lavished upon by these two vampires spawn. Nothing has made her happier today than to see the way that you have bestowed health upon her husband.

But Victoria, you're able to hold yourself steady as Shepard lets loose two bolts of force damage directly into this creature's back. Two of the skulls rear out in agony. And it continues, Sarnax. Oh, no, it has two attacks.

Sorry. Oh, good. I'm gonna. How was that? I missed that. I was 24 damage that you took. 24 necrotic damage. And the lowest is, a... Yeah, below this is a 19 to hit you.

Mm-hmm. 22 points of damage. Uh, to me. Necrotic damage. Both attacks. Okay. Um... I'm going to drop to the ground

and the face of a skeleton will appear over me, like a mask. I'm going to make a charisma saving throw. And if I pass, drop to 1 HP instead of zero. We got to twist this to fucking... The nine hells. Thank you for the music, Mike. I'm happy to do it. Yeah, she has the shadow sorcerer's thing,

so the first time she drops to one. That's so cool. Okay, I just want to make sure that I roll this right. What do I need to hit to save this? The DC is five plus the damage taken. So 20... Well, were they multiple attacks? They were.

Which is huge. Wow. But I think it's very, it's convenient that Sarnax is immediately after the monster. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

We're talking about a length of a football feel here, right? She's like way back here. Right behind there and they'll go there. Only he needs to make a good at a good saving throw. She channeled, her eyes go a blood red, as she channels this linked magic between her and her husband, giving up her lair action to assist him. He is going to make slam and burst, and he is going to essentially make a dash directly into whoever is next to Victoria. So that would be Clayton and Victoria.

I need you to make a DC-18 or a con saving throw. Both of you. Can I try to opportunity attack him? Of course you can. First to see if I can drop his movement to zero. We can re-roll that. 23. That works.

Okay. So his movement becomes zero as part of my sentinel feet. And he takes... So you can put him back to where he was. He won't take the damage. but I have to make a con save. You have to make a con save now. Okay.

As I need you to put this all around him, please. Directly under him and under anybody else that would be under him. As you watch as he is unable to move, but he does still follow through on the orders of his wife as maggots begin to burst forth from his body. As they worm and wiggle their way under all of you, they pop and explode with this thing. thick green pus.

So I need you guys to make that con saving throw, please. He takes, from my Naginata, he takes 11 points of magical silver trashing. I'm gonna twist. Constitution or Dext? Constitution. Okay, 29.

Can you pull a thing out for me? Yep. I got 826. So, who failed and who succeeded? Succeed. Succeed. You don't take any damage. But.

But. But you are still in this. Area effect, your movement is cut in half. If you attempt to move through it, you will have to make another Constitution saving throw to try and trudge through the rotting bodily parts and fluids and the maggots to try and make your way out of it.

But not if we don't move. And if you don't move at the start of your turn, you have to make it anyway. So you either want to get out, but to get out of it, you have to make a con save. Got it. Yay! Yay!

Oh, oh boy. Okay. So you can keep standing in it and just keep making the save, but it's best for you to try and get out. And that is her legendary action. Victoria. Um... Oh, no.

And I would say that you were smart enough to see that that was in response to you trying to move closer to Lady Vokter. I am going to look around at all of you and say, just go, just let me die! And I'm going to redo the eye bite with panicked. Oh, yeah. So, do I have to make it again? It's pretty good.

You can't see it. So there's still the mound of flesh. Yes, but that is hanging, that is hanging limp as if it is no longer animate. Well, you see the small head just growing larger and larger.

you see it. A small theme of lightning, bolting towards it, very thin, but slowly getting larger and larger. And you notice that with enough time, this tether would send a full bolt of lightning directly to this creature revigorating it. With the sharpest of reactions,

you turn, blast, you don't even look. blast again. The first one into the spine, the second one, into this tiny little head as it falls limp and dead at Clayton's feet. You watch as you hear a pop and a crackle as the connection between the two is severed. Welcome, Shepherd.

It is at this point that you wake up. Kana, and as you look up, you see a blade directly at your throat. Shredanya's eyes are a pure black as she's holding onto Victoria. She is slumped over in her arms, her fangs deep into Victoria's throat. Oh, fuck. What have you done?

The door is being pounded on as Clayton and Shepard and Sarnax are attempting their hardest to get in. As Victoria's eyes open up, they're white for a period, for one moment as they roll back into her head. She looks down at you, and she places a kiss firmly on your lips. Your blood drips down the side of your face. It's slightly coagulated from the hours that you have spent dead. And as she looks at you, she says, you can think me late. As she bursts into mist, the door, the lies open. and all three of you spill into the room.

Victoria, you land almost sofully onto the bed as if held for a moment in the air by the mist that Shredania had turned into. As you see the faint red glow of the mist shoot up into the air and straight out of the crack beneath the window. To say her! Told you, Victoria, I would not let you enjoy eternal rest

in the land where I am death's master. The Asran expedition may feel as if they've seen, saved the day after slaughtering the remnants of the Voktor family, but Fiona was always just a pawn. There's far more sinister machinations afoot here, and all of them end with me having what I want. Will death have a lasting effect on Victoria's mind, or her allegiance?
