Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi everyone, I have a couple exciting announcements related to my book, The Summer of 1876. First, as always, a very sincere thank you to everyone who's bought it, whether it's in hardcover or ebook or audiobook. It took a while, but the audiobook version should now be available worldwide, or at least it will be very soon. I just signed an agreement to make sure it's distributed on audio platforms like Audible around the world, and my understanding is that it's already available in many places. Next, a belated thank you to everyone who came to my events in Deadwood and Durango last summer. I met lots of great people, and I got to hang out for a while and chat with some good folks in Durango, so that was a real treat.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Now, the announcements are that I have two more events scheduled, coming up soon here in 2024, and they're both in Arizona. coming up soon here in 2024, and they're both in Arizona. First, I'll be doing a presentation and then signing books at the Museum of the West in Scottsdale on Friday, February 2nd. The event coincides with the annual Western Week celebration in Scottsdale, which is always a big deal. The presentation starts at 2 p.m. local time, and it'll be followed by the book signing. There'll be a few followed by the book signing. There'll be a few copies of the book available at the event, but the supply is really limited. If you can attend and you want to buy a book, I would highly recommend buying it beforehand and bringing it with you.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Entrance into the museum and the presentation are both free that day in honor of Western Week. Again, that's Friday, February 2nd, 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the Museum of the West in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lastly, I'll be at the Tucson Festival of Books in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th. On Saturday the 9th, I'll be on a panel discussion called Into the Sunset with Will Grant and Nathan Ward.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Will wrote a fascinating book about a recent adventure where he packed his life onto a horse and rode all 2,000 miles of the old Pony Express delivery route. And Nathan wrote a biography of the famous Pinkerton detective, Charlie Seringo. The discussion runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and you can find details on the festival's website, which I've linked in the show notes of this episode and I'll post on social media. On Sunday the 10th, I'll be on a panel called The West in Fact and Fiction, with Will Grant again and Elizabeth Crook. Elizabeth wrote a novel set in the Old West that has been described as a cross between
Starting point is 00:02:42 Lonesome Dove and News of the World. The panel runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10th. I'll be signing books both days, and I believe the signings happen right after the panels, but you'll definitely want to check the website for details because I'm not 100% sure on the times of the signings as I record this episode. Either way, if you make the trip and you bring a book with you or you buy one at the festival, obviously I'll sign it if you're interested. It doesn't matter if it's during the official signing period or not.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Again, that's the Tucson Festival of Books, March 9th and 10th. If you're in Southern Arizona or you want to make the journey, I hope to see you soon. Thanks.
