The following podcast is a dear media production.
This is Let's Be Honest with Kristen Cavalry, a podcast all about getting real and open on everything
from sex, relationships, reality TV, wellness, family, and so much more.
And just a fair warning, there will probably be some oversharing.
Bryce and Kayla Harper, welcome to Let's Be honest.
I'm so excited.
I am so excited you guys are here.
I appreciate you taking the time.
I know everyone is so busy.
Hela, I also know you don't do a lot of interviews.
Is this the first one that you guys have done together?
Yeah, I think so.
Yeah, I don't usually get involved with the interview side at all.
Well, honored.
Honored to have you.
So excited.
You guys have an incredible relationship from the little that I've seen and gotten to
know you guys.
And I just quickly want to catch my listeners up to speed.
So you've been together for 16 years.
You guys met when you were just 17.
That in itself is incredible.
and the teamwork that you both have for the relationship and your family is what I love the most.
You have four kids together.
Bryce, you're obviously insanely busy with baseball.
And Kayla, you are holding down the four and you do it so effortlessly.
Thank you.
I want to go back to the beginning.
When you guys met in high school, what was your first impression of each other?
Yeah, I mean, I think for us, it started way back when, right?
And she saw me before all this kind of started.
So we were kind of just friends, all of us.
We all hung out in the same group.
She went to a different school across town.
And we all kind of just hung out in the same group and we're dating loosely with other people, obviously.
And then got to the point where I was like, I don't want to date her.
I don't want to see what that's all about.
And so, you know, that all started and went through some ups and downs, obviously.
She went to college.
I went to the minor leagues.
And yeah, I mean, she's been every step of the way.
It's been a lot of fun.
And obviously, we're parents now.
So it's a grind, right?
We were kids and now raising kids.
Yeah, exactly.
It went quick.
I mean, that's the crazy part.
like our whole relationship has gone so quick.
And we had to have some pretty big conversations at such a young age, you know.
And so it's obviously worked out to this point.
It hasn't been easy.
You know, we've weathered the storm a lot.
But it's been a lot of fun.
And, you know, like you said, she's, she holds down the floor every day.
I couldn't imagine being a stay at home mom.
It's one of the hardest jobs in the world.
Thank you, Bryce.
No, I mean.
The women love you right now.
No, it is.
I mean, I couldn't imagine.
I mean, I'm with them for, you know,
couple hours during the day sometimes. And I love being a dad. I'm super hands-on. Like,
I love being a dad. I love every part of it. But at the same time, to do that,
pretty much a single current doing that, I couldn't imagine. It's one of the hardest jobs in the
world. Especially with four. With four. Yeah. Four. It has thrown us for a loop, but it's been great.
Well, because you have four under six. Yes. Which is insane. Yeah. How are you doing it?
How are you staying sane? Lots of help. Yeah. Lots of. Lots of.
of praying.
A lot of that.
Blacking out, basically.
A lot of crying myself to sleep thinking I'm the worst mom ever and then selling myself
I'm going to be better the next day and then I'm screaming again.
But you just do it.
I mean, you don't really have a choice.
And it's like, it's not a chore to be a mom.
Like, I love it.
It's hard.
But it is the best thing ever.
It's the best reward ever.
And they're at such fun ages too.
I mean, Crew has his own little personality now.
He has friends.
He's like in a tea bowl and all that.
So that's fun.
And then the littles are just so dependent that it's like, we're just busy.
Yeah.
They always need me.
But we do have a really good support system.
We do have help.
And then my parents come out every probably fourth week.
Oh, that's nice.
And they'll stay for the week and help.
That's great.
Amazing.
Yeah.
And that takes a lot of pressure off everybody.
For sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, it's a lot of work.
I want to go back, though, for you, Kayla, in the beginning when you first met Bryce.
Was it love at first sight or did it take you guys?
He was so mean to me.
He was mean to you.
Yeah.
Okay.
We were 14 and we met at his friend's house.
And I had seen him at a game, a baseball game right before then.
I was like, oh, that kid's kind of cute.
So we show up at this mutual friend's house who went to my school.
And he came walking in.
I was like, oh, my gosh, that's the kid from the game.
He called me ugly.
No.
To your face?
To my face.
No, hold on.
How does that happen?
Like 10 minutes in, like we'd just met each other?
He calls me ugly.
Was it like because you had a crush and you were young and didn't know how to
I'm 14.
I'm like, what am I going to do?
I mean, I wasn't the cutest.
I did have braces.
Like, I was awkward.
Like, whatever.
But, yeah, he called me ugly.
So how'd you guys rebound from that?
We just, like, I mean, we just clicked.
Like, we would always, like, make fun of each other and stuff.
Like, I feel like we were just friends.
Yeah, we were friends.
Like, and we were, like, good friends, too.
It wasn't like, you know, it was just easy to kind of communicate and talk and hang out.
Yeah.
I mean, and they kind of just, like, got to the point where I was like, man, I want to date this girl.
Like, I kind of want to get to the point where.
He started, like, showing up at my soccer games, sitting with my parents.
Wow.
Wheezzling his way in.
Get in with the fam.
Smart.
But she was,
I mean,
the thing is, too,
is like,
I loved athletes.
Like,
I,
I love to be around,
I guess,
just like people that had,
like,
the same mindset.
And she wanted to go to school
and play soccer.
And she was really good.
One of the best,
you know,
players in the state of Nevada,
high school players all time.
And, you know,
she was really good.
So I was connected to that, too.
Like,
we had that same ultimate goal of being great at what we do.
And, you know,
she went off to college,
did her thing.
and ended up, you know, went to BYU, went to Ohio State as well. And so we just connected over a lot of
that stuff as well. And yeah, we just, we had a lot of fun together and kind of got to the point
where I was like, all right, let's figure this out and see what we can do. So you appreciated her drive
and ambition. No, for sure. And I think that's a big thing that like for me when she, you know,
goes through things or I think when you're an athlete or you understand the athlete's side or
want to be great at something, whatever that looks like, it follows you in, like. It follows you in
life as well, right? Like you want to be a great mom, you want to be a great friend, person,
whatever that is. You see that and, you know, I was attracted to that obviously. And yeah,
I mean, it's just, it's been a lot of fun. It's been a lot of fun to kind of grow up with each other
as well, right? Like you see the good, you see the bad, you understand who they are, what they're
going through. And, you know, I wouldn't be able to be, you know, who I am on the baseball field
if I didn't know that my kids were taking care of at home or our relationship is good or whatever
that looks like. So obviously, like I said, you know, there's been up and downs. There's been a lot of good.
There's been a lot of good in my career and a lot of bad in my career as well. So having somebody at
home that can go through those moments with you, you know, she's in it every day. She's in the thick
every single day with my career, with our kids, with decision making. I mean, she makes the phone
calls. She makes, you know, make sure everything's going smoothly away from the field as much as at the
field. And I don't think people realize, too, like our clubhouse becomes our family, right? Like,
we're away from our kids and our, you know, our wives more than I think any profession probably.
I mean, it's, it's a grind. So we all try to make sure, hey, everything's good at home so that we can,
you know, kind of be good on the field as well. It's just, you know, I love being able to look up to
the suite and be like, oh, hey, she's here. You know, she knows when she's not there on time,
I'm like, what happened? Got a few phone calls and, like, the third.
Like, are we good?
Where are you?
Just, you know, somebody had a blowout and we're just changing some kids real quick and we'll be there.
I'm like, what did crew do?
What did crew get into?
That's just a trouble making it now.
Wait, is crew the second one?
He's the oldest.
Oh, the oldest.
Yeah, he'll be seven next month.
Oh, okay.
Crew's six, Brooklyn's five.
Cameron's two and then Hayes is our newborn.
Are you guys done?
Will you have more?
Oh, no.
We're done.
We're done.
We're done.
We are done.
We are done.
I can't do it anymore.
Hayes was a surprise for us.
Okay.
We had like this whole talk.
Like we're done.
Like, yep, we're good.
Bree's great.
Great. Great number.
Two weeks later.
God laughed and said, no.
Sorry.
Did you cry?
I feel like we've cried with everyone.
Oh, like, happy tears?
No.
No.
First one, no chance.
No, the first one, it was like excitement.
But it was like nervous.
It was also a surprise the first one?
No, no.
We were like loosely trying.
Yeah.
And then the second one.
second one was definitely surprised. I was four months postpartum. Oh, yeah. So I cried all day with her.
Yeah, you guys really knocked them out. Yeah. Cameron, we were trying. I thought was purposefully.
Okay. Yeah. I was, I was done after two. Oh. Yeah. I was like I talked him into cam.
Boy, girl, we're good. Yeah, one of each. You're good. Yeah. Yeah. I just felt like there was one we
were missing. Yeah. Yeah. And so. And I guess we were missing too.
Little did you know. Let's do you know. You're going to keep going. But now you can't picture your life with
I'm like, you don't regret a kid. I feel like I always hear like, oh, I regret not having more kids.
It's so true. Yeah. Exactly. We're good now. We've got two boys, two girls.
You guys are in the thick of it. I mean, truly, my kids are right over here. But when you get to this age, it's so fun. And I don't
want to say it's easy, but it's just very different. Right. Like they're all pretty independent.
They can do their thing. Which is nice. Yeah. It's so nice. It's the best. So a lot of good things
look forward to. So what is the key to your successful marriage? Is it this balance, this
team were unintended. I think, I mean, my biggest, I would say, is communication. We learned
how to communicate with each other in a good way. Like early on. Early on. Yeah. So probably,
like I think college years right around when we were getting engaged, you know, we had been going
through some stuff and it was hard we were in distance. We were in distance the whole time we were
dating. And did you guys break up ever or were you always? Yeah. We had like little breakups here and
But I think a lot of it was just we just missed each other and didn't know how to communicate.
Right.
Like I didn't want to bother him if he was having a bad game.
After a bad game, I was like, okay, I'll just save that for a later time.
And then when you had a good game, I'm like, I'm not going to be the damper on it.
Right.
So like, then I wouldn't say anything.
And then I would just blow up all of a sudden.
Yeah.
Or like, you know, something would happen.
But I think just we learned to like sit down and talk.
And like, it wasn't like a nasty conversation.
Even if we were upset.
It was like, hey, let's go to the dining room.
let's sit down and like we'll talk this out. And I've learned how to approach things with him and
he's learned how to approach things with me in a way that doesn't make us feel like attacking.
And just like, hey, let's figure this out. Like we have an issue right now. Like, let's talk it out.
Let's get through it. And so I think that's been our biggest thing is it's just like and then
you have so many other voices that have want to have a say in what you're doing. And it's just like,
okay, no, this is about us. This isn't about anybody else. We don't need so-and-so's opinion.
about anything, like this is about us. And so that's kind of, I think, been the biggest thing,
I would say. Yeah. I think also, like, we just make it fun. You know, we just try to just,
like, have fun with it. And we laugh at the good, laugh at the bad. And you know, just don't stop
dating. I mean, I was over four last night with three punchouts and I wasn't happy about it,
obviously. You know what I'm saying? So like, you know, like it happens. And so I'm not happy about
something. I'm like, gosh, dang it. You know, what's, I'm, all right, I'm just going to go to bed.
You know, but like, I mean, there's just times there that are like that.
But I think just making it fun and having a good time.
And like, I mean, we're in the thick, like plain and simple.
So our relationship kind of takes a back seat sometimes to our kiddos.
And it's just it is what it is.
But we try to make sure, like, if it's watching a show, if it's, you know, going to a grocery store.
Yeah, grocery store.
If it's a quick.
That's where we first ran into you guys.
Yes.
That's like our date.
I'm like, let's go.
They really do go to the grocery store.
Yeah.
We haven't in a while.
because we're very, very grateful and lucky to have a chef now.
That's nice.
Yeah.
But, uh, no, you can't.
It's impossible.
Yeah, but I mean, that's, I mean, that's just kind of how we do it.
Like, you know, let's take a drive real quick.
Yeah.
Just making time.
For sure.
Communication and time.
Yeah.
Communication is everything.
It really is.
But like just learning because you can't communicate the same with everybody.
I mean, even our kids you were learning.
Like, there's different ways to parent each kid.
Yes.
Like they respond differently.
And so I feel like that was when we were younger, it was like, no, we just need to learn how to
communicate with each other.
Like, you don't.
And when you're 22, communication looks so different than it does in your theory.
I'm like, I'm in college living, like, my normal college life.
And he's, like, playing professional baseball.
Yeah.
He's hanging out with, like, grown men.
Yeah.
With families.
Right.
And I'm, like, with college drunkies.
You know what I mean?
Like, totally different.
Completely different.
So he was, like, on this fast track growing up, having to be an adult, being in
the limelight media and all that.
And I was just like, I'm just here playing soccer and going to school.
Getting to be a regular college kid.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't have to worry about that stuff.
No, I know.
Yeah, it makes you grow up so quickly.
Yeah.
Bryce, when you do have a game like last night, how are you after a game?
Are you able to shake it off pretty easily?
And then, Kayla, I'm also curious how you handle that, too.
Yeah, I mean, I feel like sometimes you're in a rut.
You know, I think there's times where your career goes good and you're feeling great
and you have a great two months and then baseball kind of humbles you a little bit.
And it's one of the most humbling games that you can play.
I'm in a rut right now.
I have been for the last month.
So that's a tough place to be.
but I think as I've gotten older in my career, obviously when I was younger, I mean, it was very
tough for me.
Like being just a horrible mood.
Yeah, just like rugby.
I mean, not like rude, but just like quiet.
Yeah.
I'm quiet anyways.
Like I'm more of a more quiet than anything.
But I think as you get older and you figure out like I only have five or six years left
to play.
And so, you know, for me, I'd rather be punching out in the big leagues than sitting at an office job.
There you go.
Perspective.
You know, so, like, I mean, it's not great.
Like, obviously, I'm not sitting in a cubicle.
Shout out to everybody that's in a cubicle.
But, like, I just, I mean, there's times where I just want to have a summer.
I mean, we were walking in just now and she's like, what's up?
And I'm like, I'm thinking about being on a lake somewhere.
Newport Beach, California.
Like, just hanging out, you know?
And, like, you want to have a summer.
And then you start leaving your kids and stuff like that as they get older.
You miss practices.
is you miss, you know, their first steps.
Like, you miss all these things because, you know, you got to do your career.
And it is what it is sometimes.
But as I've gotten older, I've been able to flush it a little bit more.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie.
Last night sucked.
Like, I was, you know, not pumped about it.
But you find perspective and stuff as well.
Like, you got to understand, like, you're your kid's hero no matter what, right?
So they see dad at the front door.
And they're like, dad, you know, and they're pumped to see you.
And so you want to have that same feeling like when you get home.
Like you don't want to be a damper to them.
And I want my kids to, you know, see me play and have success.
But also I want to want them to see, you know, my failures as well.
Yeah.
I want them to see how I react and what I do and how I do it.
Because I want them to learn from that too.
Like where I went right, I want them to go left and vice versa.
Love that.
But, you know, for me too, like, I want to be great at what I do.
Like, let's not get that twisted.
Like I'm not okay with, you know, being terrible.
Right.
There's still some self-sabotaging kind of.
Yeah, no, there is for sure.
But being able to get home and just like brush it off is definitely tough at times.
But I've learned over the years, it's, you know, we're able to watch a show or hang out or have dinner.
I think that's a big thing for me and her is like family dinner.
Like, no matter what if it's at 11 o'clock at night or 1 o'clock in the morning, like we're going to sit down.
The two of you, not with the kids.
They'll eat earlier.
They're used to.
Yeah.
I mean, crew in Brooklyn, I usually take to the night games just because they're a little bit older, but the littles can't hang for very long.
So, yeah, when we get home, that's when we'll have dinner.
We'll sit down.
You know, you talk about your day and normal family dinner.
It's always been like a big importance to us.
Sit down as a family, no phones.
You have dinner.
Yes.
You talk.
Yep.
Yeah.
I think that's helped us a lot too.
Like being able to just get home and kind of just be normal in that, in that sense.
Yep.
You know what time it is.
I want to talk to you about V-REL.
Back to School is in.
full swing. And that means we are all back to busy school mornings. And the reality is it can be
overwhelming to plan an outfit during the crazy morning rush. So this is where Viveral has been
a game changer. If you don't know what Vivrell is yet, it's a members only club where you can
borrow designer bags and jewelry. So think a rotating dream closet that you don't actually have to
commit to. And the closet is insane. They have Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior,
all of the brands that we all know and love. And so the way it works is once you're accepted
into the club, you just pick the piece that you want to borrow and it shows up at your doorstep.
No, really, that's it. I also love this too for super trendy pieces because I do not like spending
a lot of money on trendy pieces that I know I'm going to be sick of in a season or two. And good news,
Vivrell gave me such an amazing offer for you guys, my listeners, that you're not going to want to

We all, of course, know the importance of a good night's rest to keep up with the demands of a busy schedule.
but sometimes it can be hard to switch off at night and relax. That's why I love rituals
magnesium plus. It's a blend of magnesium bisclosinate and tart cherry powder for mind and muscle
relaxation. It really helps to unwind from a long day and it supports restful sleep so you can
wake up ready to take on the next day. I've never been someone that had a nightly routine
when it comes to a drink. But since I've been working magnesium plus into my routine, I love it.
It's become my nightly ritual. It tastes great. I have. I have a lot. I have. I
actually like it hot or cold. It just kind of depends on my mood. But for me, it's sort of like
replacing what tea would do at night before I go to bed. And it just drifts me right off to sleep.
Rituals selected a bioavailable form of magnesium. So it's really gentle on the stomach.
It's also great for supporting period cramping and providing PMS support. What's not to love.

Hila, what's the hardest part about dating the professional athlete or date?
married, being married to a professional athlete?
I think just not even when people like say he sucks because like obviously he doesn't
suck.
Yeah.
I think it's more when they attack his character.
And I'm like, that is not him at all.
Yeah.
Why do I get emotional?
Oh, that's sweet.
No, that's sweet.
No, it's not.
It's actually really relatable and very sweet.
But yeah, I think that's hard.
Yeah.
It's when you hear so many people's opinions about your husband and that's not the person that
he is or the dad that he is or the friend that he is or even the baseball player that he is.
And I feel like, oh my gosh, I can't believe.
No, no.
I think it's so embarrassing.
This is why I don't do this stuff.
You're like, I'm never going to do an interview ever again.
Don't get to talk about my family.
I don't make it.
But yeah, I feel like he's always had a really tough go at media ever since he was younger.
I mean, so many opinions.
And I, like I said, I lived a relative in normal life.
So, like, seeing somebody that you cared the most about, just getting torn apart
by everybody who doesn't know him.
Right.
Like, that's hard to sit back and not say anything.
It's hard to not get on.
Have you ever gotten on?
Yeah, I mean, when I was dumb and young.
Start popping off.
Yeah, like, I'm sassy.
Like, I've got a lot to say.
I'm sarcastic with people.
Like, I would pop off on stuff.
And it just, it doesn't go anywhere.
Like, it's dumb.
I know.
But, yeah, it's hard.
It's hard to keep your mouth shut and just
pretend like it's not happening.
But, I mean, at the end of the day, I know who he is.
He's got his family.
Yeah.
It is, but it is.
And I'm so different.
I couldn't care less.
Not at all. He doesn't get to you at all.
That's amazing.
There's tissues right next to Michaela, too.
Oh, thank you.
I mean, that's incredible.
I give me some advice about how not to care at all because it is hard, I think.
I just feel like not any of those people that, like, are really saying stuff are ever going to be at my Thanksgiving dinner.
Right?
So, like, I'm never going to invite them through my door.
So, I mean, you know, my grandma always just say, like, opinions or like assholes, everybody's got one.
Yeah.
You know, so I mean, it's just for me, I find success in what people, you know, do say about me, right?
Like if they do say something bad, I'm like, all right, well, you know, I guess we'll just turn around and tell me to watch what I do.
You know, so like, I mean.
Yeah.
I mean, for me, like, I've had so many.
I have so much for myself, like what I want to do and how I want to do it that I don't have time to really think about what somebody else says or I always talk to her.
I'm just like, hey, it's not a big deal.
like people are going to say or do whatever they want.
And that's why everybody has platforms now, right?
That's why everybody has social media.
That's, you know, podcasts and interviews and situations and stuff.
But for me, I just, I don't know, I just don't care.
I never have.
I mean, I've been talking to, I mean, I've been going through this since I was 10 years old, 11 years old.
True.
So you developed a fixed skin just really early on.
Yeah, I mean, I got, I mean, I got booed for the first time when I was like 13 or 14.
Oh, that's brutal.
Yeah.
So, I mean, it's just, it's something that.
I've always gone through. And I mean, obviously, it's harder for, you know, some people. And for me,
I think, you know, it just, it is what it is. I only have a couple more years left of doing what I love.
And I don't need people's opinions to affect the way I feel or what I'm going through.
And also, you've been here for a long time. Like, it's clear, you know, I think your career sort of
is the proof in the pudding. Like other people's opinions don't really matter.
I think people really get stuck in people's opinions, though. Like, I agree with that.
You know, like people get so stuck in what other people are saying or how they're living their life or, you know, what they do with their kids or, you know, what type of, you know, food they're giving them or whatever it is.
Like, I mean, I don't know.
I just, I feel like everybody just needs to kind of live their life and we only get one.
And so for me, like, I don't want to live my life a certain way for somebody else that has no effect on what I'm going to do on a daily.
So I don't know.
I'm over here, like.
Good balance, I guess, maybe.
I think obviously, like when we were younger, like she said, like she'd pop back and stuff.
But now, like, we've gone through it so much that, you know, I think it hits families more, right?
Like it'll hit parents or friends or some of my buddies are like, did you see this?
I'm like, I don't care.
Yeah.
You know, like.
I've definitely gotten better.
No, for sure.
No, no, not at all.
Probably don't go looking for people's opinion so either, right?
Like my guess is you don't strike me as the type that would read.
comments and all that. No, I don't. Yeah, that's good. Really even on social media. Yeah, that's great.
Like, I just, I don't know, I'm going to live my life the way I want to. And at the end of the day, if,
you know, people like that great, if they don't, then, you know, they're going to go and talk about
somebody else and do their own thing. So you're alive. I think for me, too, like, I love seeing other
people have success. And so I'm not scared of, like, other people having success or other teammates
having success or other guys in the league.
Like, I root for other players like I do.
Like, I enjoy seeing people have success in their life.
I don't want anybody to be mediocre.
Like, I want everybody to have the opportunity to be great at what they do.
And if that's on the field, if that's being a lawyer, if that's being a firefighter, if that's
being, you know, anything, I want people to find success and be great at that because
obviously it makes our community better too.
You know, like I think is the world's changed and evolved.
You know, like I said, people get so stuck on what other people do and they get embarrassed.
And they're like, oh, I shouldn't do this anymore.
Right.
It's like when you're younger, right, you dance and you're six, seven, eight years old.
You're dancing.
You're having fun.
You're just, you're yourself.
And then as you get older, you're like, oh, I don't want to do it anymore because so-and-so said I shouldn't or they're making fun of me.
And it's like, well, you're losing the spark in your life.
You're losing the light of your life instead of going and trying to do something.
Maybe you are supposed to be a dancer.
or maybe you are supposed to be a singer.
And so if I could teach my kids one thing, it's like, go be yourself.
Like, no matter what, undoubtedly, like, be yourself.
And so when rookies come up too, I love that notion of like, hey, what should they be like?
And I'm like, they should be their self.
They're here for a reason.
You know, like they got here for a reason being who they are.
And I don't ever want to see somebody lose that spark or their fire or that, you know,
notion inside of them to be great.
And I mean, I look stupid when I dance so I don't dance.
But, you know, like it's just like, be yourself.
And I think, too, the older you get, the more you realize no matter what you do,
you can't please everybody.
For sure.
You may as well just do what you.
I mean, how many times in high school did you sit there probably and we're like,
maybe I shouldn't do that or middle school like, oh, I shouldn't wear this shirt because
somebody's going to say something.
Like my parents just bought me a shirt and my mom wants me to wear it, but I'm not going
to because, you know, Johnny got, you know, he's going to tell me it's a terrible
shirt. No, it's so true. Do either of you ever struggle with guilt, like Bryce, guilt that
you're missing things at home and Kayla, if you can't be at a game that you're missing something
right? I don't care if, I mean, I care if she's at the game, obviously. Well, what happens is it?
Because I know that as the kids get older, it's harder for you to be at all of them. I mean,
I've always loved supporting him and I know, like, me showing up means a lot to him. Like, he's always
thanking me when I come and, you know, making the effort. He's always like, thank you so much.
I appreciate it. I appreciate you coming. And it could just be like a random Tuesday game.
But he's like, thank you so much for coming. Does it change it? Change the game for you,
Bryce, when the family can't be there? Not too much. I miss my kids. Yeah. Like I do. Like I miss
them being on the road with me or, you know, all that kind of stuff. But like, I understand it.
Like, I understand when she can't travel or. I think this is like the first year. I haven't been
able to like go on the road and do all the things and all of that, which has kind of been an adjustment.
Yeah. I've got a terrible schedule this year too. So I mean, our schedule has been a little tough.
I mean, also the kids are just having their own lives now.
They have their own schedules.
You know, crew had tea ball.
They have school.
Brooklyn's and soccer.
It's like we can't just tot them around wherever I want to go now.
They've got to live too.
Yeah.
We've already, you know, we sacrifice a lot to be here and support them each year.
And I don't like that.
But it's, I mean, it is what it is.
And so at some point, I know, like, there's going to come time where I'm not going to be able to go to as much as I want.
Right.
And so we only do have a few more years left realistically, which is sad.
But I think we're just trying to make the best of it, honestly.
We're just trying to enjoy it.
And let the kids be a part of everything that they can be a part of.
And we keep the family together as much as we can.
And that's just kind of what we do.
Yeah.
I definitely, I mean, I have dad guilt a lot.
Yeah.
I feel like you struggle a lot more.
I struggle with it.
At the same time, like I said, like I want my kids to be able to see me play.
And my kids love it.
Like Cam loves coming to the games.
It's so special for that.
I mean, that really is so cool.
I mean, Cruz is just learning that, like, not everybody's dad plays baseball.
Right.
So he's like, wait, what?
Your dad doesn't play baseball?
You a loser?
Yeah, exactly.
For sure.
That's so fun.
What was the last fight that you guys had?
You guys ever fight?
I would say it's more bickering.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Gosh, that's great, guys.
Can't even think of something.
All right, that communication really is.
Yeah, I can't really think of, like.
probably something dumb.
Is it ever like
Bryce not helping out around the house or
No. No.
It's, I mean, off season I feel like
it's tricky because... Well, I'm in a bad mode in the
off season usually. I'm bored. I'm bored.
Yeah, I would say that.
We get there. He gets bored and like he's now
like trying to integrate into our schedule. Like I'm like, no, no, no.
Like, you're messing with my schedule. Yeah, she doesn't get mad about that.
Yeah, like I have the kids going to bath at a
certain time. Like we have this like, I don't know where you fit in yet. Like you got to give me
a little bit of time to get you back into this routine. That's the cam where we were just
talking about it where like, I'm like, no, just let me cuddle with camp for a little bit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm like, that's the only time she'd cuddle with him. She'll get so
mad. So he's like, I'm putting her to bed. But now you've ruined all this progress I've made.
Messed up the whole schedule. So it's just like little stuff like that. Like I would say it's
like a fight. Yeah. I mean, off season's really short, isn't it? Yeah. How much time?
It's only really three months and then it's spring training. Yeah.
Gosh, that's amazing that you're bored.
What are you going to do when you retire?
I ask myself the same thing.
I'm like, sure you don't need a few more years.
Right.
Gosh, I would think you'd be so excited to have a couple months.
He's like not in the golf.
Like, he doesn't do all that stuff.
Yeah.
And he just wants to be around the family.
I'm like, we're just not really doing much.
Like, we're all kind of just looking at each other.
Like, all right.
No, I was just thinking about it today.
I was like, man, it's groundhog day for us all the time.
Like, it's groundhog day every day with our schedule.
But yeah, I think the off season probably gets the hardest.
And I get into moods where I'm like, I'm just bored.
Like I want to like, but I don't want to do anything because I want to be at home.
Right.
Right.
But like she'll be like, hey, let's watch a movie or a show.
The kids are down or they're out.
And I'm like, I'll sit on the couch for five minutes.
She's like, where are you going?
I don't know.
He's like, I just feel lazy.
I got to go, I got to go clean something.
Like I got to go, I got to go blow down the driveway for the ninth time today.
You know, like, I mean.
And it's, I mean, a lot of our friends too are just working and stuff.
And I get back to the off season.
So I'm like, hey guys.
Yeah. Can we hang out?
No doubt. Wow.
But that's, I mean, that's why I started doing TikToks like a lot.
Oh, yeah. You're a TikTok star. You're great at TikTok.
People love her to start as like a joke.
Like we were like laughing about it and then it kind of.
I bake a lot.
Yeah, I was going to say, yeah, Baker, Bryce Harper.
He does really like to bake.
I do.
Like it's not just for TikTok. He's always been.
No, you can tell that it's authentic.
Yeah, he's always been that way.
It's like in high school musical when the athlete starts baking and they're like,
hold on what?
What's going on here?
We introduced the kids to that recently.
High school and musical?
I don't think my kids have ever seen it.
Really?
Oh, our kids love it.
They love it.
Yeah, we've been, like, doing all the old Disney, like,
luck of the Irish.
Fun.
Like, all those.
Yeah, that's fun.
Yeah.
My daughter and I watch a lot of old movies, like dirty dancing.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, it's fun.
I'm excited for that.
Yeah, it's a fun era.
So if you guys could do anything on an off-season day,
no kids, maybe the kids are involved, but you get to do whatever you want.
What is an ideal day?
Making banana bread?
Yeah.
I don't know.
I mean, if you could relax, I would love to just kind of like...
Give them a mizanax.
Be in bed.
Tell him to just show.
Just watch some movies or show.
Eat some food.
I don't know.
She would love to travel.
I like traveling.
She loves to travel.
She's a traveler.
Do you not like to?
I suck it flying.
Do you get scared?
No, it's more of like...
It's like...
I don't know.
I would say more like claustophobia.
I would say more like...
Yeah.
He doesn't like to be confined.
Don't you guys have to fly every week?
All the time.
What do you do?
Well, it's great.
Well, it's, so it started in like 2014.
I had the surgery and I wasn't feeling good after and I flew back way too quick.
I had my first like panic attack on a flight.
Oh, wow.
So one of those pedal jumper planes.
Oh, yeah.
Those are scary.
Are you there?
No.
And he was stuck on the runway for like two hours.
And I was like, Heisekite.
I just got my surgery done and I'm sitting there.
And I'm like, like no air on the middle of summer.
And I'm sweating.
I was like, oh, no.
So ever since then, that feeling just like, ooh.
It sticks with you.
Like, I would love to travel everywhere.
Like, I want to go everywhere.
Yeah.
But I'm just like.
So because of your, because of that, it hinders you.
Oh, big time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We rarely like it to, like, leave the States.
I mean, I feel like you guys need to go on a vacation.
Bryce, you got to think.
No, I mean, we went to Turks and cross-off season is amazing.
Yeah.
We like get there.
We'll get there.
We'll get there.
We'll get there.
It's like a full week of, like, hype team.
Like, we got this.
You can do it.
There's multiple times.
She's like, okay, like, we're good.
And I'm like, yeah, we're great.
Wow.
My bag's not packed.
We had a wedding in Chicago one year.
This was right after I had my first son.
And one of my really good friends as a teammate too.
We've missed out a lot of crap.
Oh, wow.
But I got him on the plane.
So we're sitting there on the plane.
And he's like, I can't do it.
I can't do it.
And he starts getting up to leave.
And I was like, oh, heck no.
So I pushed his drink over onto his lap.
Spilled it all over me.
He was so distracted that they like close the doors, everything.
So I was like, oh.
Hey, let's start.
We're going.
I love it.
Hey, we're going.
I guess you're going.
I just remember being like, oh, no, over my dead body,
are you going to leave me alone on this plane right now?
No, no, no, no.
That was a good move.
But, like, I want to travel so bad.
Like, I would, you know, Japan's like my big one.
Yeah.
I don't want to go to Japan.
You got to get over it.
You got to figure out how to get over this.
No, we're working on it.
We've been to Europe.
I love Europe.
Switzerland.
Can you take it ambient on the way to Europe and just sleep it off, you know.
Yeah, for sure.
With the kids, maybe now.
We're distracted now.
I need like that IV, like, just put it in me and...
The IV on the plane.
Don't worry about it.
You guys go with this?
We're good.
That would be the craziest thing people have seen on a plane.
Okay, here's a new one.
I'm really excited to talk to you guys about.

Football season is upon us. And I know I can't wait to start making football food, posting watch
parties, or actually, it'll probably just be me and the kids on Sundays. But I love football season.
I get so excited specifically for the food.
And because I'm always making stuff every Sunday, I always need my must-have lineup.
And that is basically everything from Primal Kitchen.
It's become my go-to for dressing, sauces, and condiments.
I love making my own, but it's just not realistic with how busy my life has become.
But because it is football season, let's talk about their buffalo sauce.
It is perfect for game day recipes, whether you're making wings, sliders, buffalo chicken.

Back to school season is here. I know that's crazy. I don't know where summer went. And while
that means lectures, labs and late nights for healthcare workers and training, it's also a reminder
that in medicine, education never really ends. The premium apparel brand for healthcare professionals
just dropped fresh colors and exclusive back to school styles.
From scrubs to outerwear to footwear and beyond,
figs keeps awesome humans looking sharp, performing their best,
and ready to take on anything from marathon lab sessions to 12-hour shifts.
I actually just went to the dentist.
My girl had on the cutest figs.
These styles are so flattering.
Like gone are the days of those ugly, boxy scrubs.
Now all the girlies can look so cute,
and you can find colors that really make you look incredible.
So if you're in healthcare or you know someone who is,
Back to school season is the perfect time to snag some new colors.

Okay, so Kayla wants to travel.
Bryce, what's your favorite thing to do together as a couple?
Yeah, as a couple.
You guys go to nice dinner.
Just like dinner, yeah.
Maybe I know to kind of just get to dinner and hang out.
But yeah.
The kids are you just been like, it's hard.
It is hard.
Do you guys do date night and stuff though?
We do. Yeah. In the off-season, definitely more.
Yeah. If I could travel, like, all the time, I would love to do it.
Like, that's seriously, like, I would love to just go and, you know, see stuff and eat good food.
Europe, especially with their food and everything.
Like, obviously their stuff is a little bit different than the States.
Yeah.
Ingredient-wise.
Yeah.
So being able to go over there and do that, like, would be a lot of fun.
You got to, like, games.
Do you like concerts?
Yeah, concert games.
I mean, just like anything that everybody does.
It's your favorite concert you guys have been to.
For me, Adele.
Oh, good one.
That's a good one.
She was insane.
Yeah.
Where'd you guys see her?
Vegas.
Vegas.
Yeah.
She had that residency.
Oh, that's awesome.
It was insane.
Her voice in person is just.
I'm sure.
Just like chills the full time.
Oh, that's awesome.
I don't know.
Kate McCray recently.
Oh, fun that you went to.
Yeah.
She was fun.
I was like nine months pregnant though, so I was like, I have no business being here.
You're trying to pop around.
But I love her.
I think she's so fun a lot.
That's a fun one.
Yeah.
I love it.
So fun. Bryce, what is the biggest misconception that people have about you?
Kayla, maybe you'd be good to answer that too, actually.
I feel like that he's, like, loud and cocky and, like, obnoxious.
Yeah.
He's, like, the exact opposite.
Like, it always throws people off.
He's so quiet.
And he's, like, more of an observer.
Like, he'll talk to you.
But, like, for the most part, if you're sitting there in a group, like, he's just kind
of chilling.
He's, like, observing everybody.
Isn't that funny?
I feel like it's always the opposite.
And it always, like, it used to throw my mom off.
She would, like, get offended.
She'd be like, does he just not like us?
Like, he's so quiet when he comes over.
I'm like, no, that's just him.
Like, he's just quiet.
Yeah.
Taking it all in.
Yeah, he just, he'll say something if he has something to say.
Right.
Yeah, I would say probably that a lot of stuff I do is like fake, I guess.
Oh, people say that?
Like the pandering, like with like the city and stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I just, my mind works so different.
So like when I have ideas, like I try to put those ideas through.
Yeah.
Like I'll think about things.
And even my teammates are like, how did you think?
think about that. Like, we're, you know, we're a year away. Right. We haven't, like, and I'm like,
I don't know. Like, I just think about it. Like, so like all my cleat designs and stuff, like,
they're, they're just things that I think about on the off-season. Like, I'll be sitting there in the
off-season. I'll be like, hey, what do you think about this arm sleeve with like the fanatic kind of
coming out of it? She's like, what are you talking about? Like, this December. We've got
Christmas coming out. Right, right. Right. I'm not worried about the fanatics kind of stuff.
When you're bought into something, like you're bought in, like you're bought in.
Like you embrace it.
And I feel like, yeah, people do think that it's fake and it's not.
I just, I love design.
Like, I love, like, thinking about design.
I love thinking about what kids like.
So, like, all my, like, wear tests and stuff like that for my cleats and everything,
they show the kids first, like, all, like, little kids and they see if the little kids like it.
Because all of our stuff kind of, like, we're on the Harper 11 right now for my cleats.
And, like, we're already done with the 12, like, going on the 13.
So, like, it takes, like, a year in advance to kind of get everything going.
So all these ideas just come to me.
Like, we're going to play in Iowa at Fill the Dreams this year.
Wow.
And so they're all about corn in Iowa, you know, Midwest.
And so my cleats and everything, like, it's all corn stuff.
But I'm trying to get something where, and this is going to lot of hair before, but that's fine.
I'm trying to get something to, like, a wrap around my cleats that's, like, me shucking corn.
Oh, cool.
And so I'm going to try to shuck it before I go up to the plate and hit.
Cool. I love it.
But people are like, bro, like, what are you doing?
I love it. Like, why are you? Like, what are we doing?
You're creative.
He's very creative.
That's good.
You're in England this year or last two years ago.
Maybe that's why you're so quiet.
England?
There you're always just thinking about ideas.
Yeah.
Were we in England two years ago?
And like, I was like, man, if I hit a homer, I'm going to do the soccer slide.
We're in England, like, I'm going to do the double knee soccer slide.
And, like, nobody knew besides, like, two people on my team.
and they're like, you're really going to do it.
I'm like, yeah, bro, if I go deep on first shirt, I'm in a soccer stadium.
I'm like, why don't I know?
Are you joking?
Either that or, you know, take my shirt off like Ronaldo.
I don't think anybody wants to do that.
So I did the double knee slide and everybody's like, what are you doing?
I love it.
You know, like, what are we doing?
So I'd probably say something like that.
That's so great.
Well, you are into design.
And so great segue into the Uncommon James Collab.
I mean, I will say, you had strong opinions about what you wanted to do, which I really appreciated.
So I came to you about doing this Uncommon James Club, and I really appreciate that you're wearing everything.
Your sweats, got the necklace on.
You have one of our hats.
I mean, you were basically a spokesperson.
I know, though, how you heard about Uncommon James because what I love so much about this
collab is that you were a real fan of our stuff.
You wore our sweats, you had our hats.
So I know that we started gifting them to you, but I don't think initially, right?
So how did you first hear about it?
We first went to Uncommon.
Shoot, 20.
When do we go visit?
In Nashville?
In Nashville.
Yeah.
We went to your storefront.
Obviously we knew who you were growing up.
I mean, everybody did.
Obviously.
I mean, everybody in our school did.
But yeah, I mean, I think, you know, just seeing the brand, I thought it was more a lot.
I mean, obviously it's female or was female driven.
But some of your stuff was unisex for me, I thought.
And so, oh, I like that sweatshirt or I like that hat.
And I just started kind of buying it.
And then I think I bought you, maybe a necklace or, yeah, something.
Or no.
I bought a necklace and it didn't fit me.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
I got a necklace.
And I gave it to her.
I mean, yeah, that's how I got like that.
Oh, this doesn't fit you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, I ordered it because I don't know.
I think it had the K on it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh.
And so it was like one of your gold like K ones.
And I hadn't had like a gold like K.
And I wear necklaces as well, I play.
I always have.
And so gave that to her.
And then I was like, man, I wonder if, you know,
maybe we can work together on something.
and obviously you reached out.
Well, yeah.
I mean, I'm so excited about it.
Yeah.
Yeah, I love you had a real vision.
I think, well, so I first came to you about doing the sweats.
And you wanted to do a necklace, which I thought was so cool.
And you had a real vision for it.
Yeah, I mean, I think the sweats and stuff, I love them.
I think they're, you know, turned out really good.
But I love working, obviously, with brands that aren't just familiar to me, but I don't
just work with any brands.
I'm not just going to, you know, say, oh, I want to work with this brand and work with this brand.
And like I said, like I said, like are super genuine and really care about what they're doing.
And you're obviously one of those people.
Like it was an easy like yes for me.
And obviously I'm not going to lie.
Like Kristen Kevler, he asked me to do something.
I'm probably going to do it.
Why should I love you for that?
Probably going to do it.
Thanks, Bryce.
You can't say no.
Yeah, sure.
But then I mean, I feel like we, I don't know if I want to do the necklace.
Yeah.
Kind of way back and forth a little bit.
You know what?
Let's do it.
Yeah.
And I love this.
I thought it turned out great.
It turned out great.
Yeah, start trying out really good.
I love that blue.
I've been obsessed with this blue for a long time.
Kayla, did he ask your opinion on things?
A little bit, but not really.
Like, he kind of has his own little.
He knows his stuff.
Yeah, like he is always a visionary with that stuff.
I'm like, yep, whatever you think.
I mean, you're better at giving gifts than me.
Always I'm like, if I buy him something, I'm like, oh, no, I got to return this.
I make sure I can return it.
Hey, she did get me two sweatshirts.
I mean, I'm so simple, I feel like, and where she gets so mad.
we fight on this one.
She gets so mad at me
because I'll be like, hey, this Christmas,
it's just like, yeah, this is really important.
Let's, you know, nothing.
Like, we're, and I'm like, no chance.
Like, I'm not, like, there's no way.
And he's like, oh.
And he gets, and do you actually not get anything?
Yeah.
Like, I'll get, like, again.
Yeah.
She'll get, like, a funny one and I'll get her like a.
And he'll get me like a purse or like.
Right.
And then you feel bad.
Earrings or something nice.
Yeah.
And I'll just sit there and just laugh.
Yeah.
You know, I think that's okay.
I think you let him do that for you.
I just don't like, I don't buy it.
Like, I don't buy things.
Like, me personally, like, I could have the same pickup truck for 30 years.
I don't care.
You're good with it.
Well, then she should be able to buy your stuff.
I mean, I can understand if you bought everything you wanted.
And it's sort of like, like, what is there left to get out?
No, he just.
I just don't have like that, like, a lot of guys are into watches.
Right.
Like, you know, cars or whatever.
I just, I don't.
Like, I'm just like, I'm just like.
He's into food.
Wow.
Great.
Healthy food, right?
Healthy food.
No, like, I just.
Yeah. I don't know. I'm just not into much. Much is fine. I'm talking to her about it the other day.
Like, we were talking and I was like, you know, I love AP watches. I think they're legit.
Yeah. But I just.
Do you have, you have watches or you like, don't? You don't have one. Wow.
Yeah, she got me one for my tenure. That's amazing.
For baseball. And I was like, that's the only one I'll ever buy.
Yeah. Like, I just don't. Yeah, I don't care.
Interesting. Yeah. Like I got, I mean, I don't know. I got you a Bronco one year.
That's cool.
Yeah.
The old school Bronco.
We weren't in Nashville yet.
So, you know, like it's not, it's not like, you know, I feel like everybody has a Bronco.
Everyone has a Bronco.
No.
This was like Vegas.
This was like.
You started the trend.
We started a trend.
Like everybody in Nashville is like Bronco.
I know.
They dip in the back of their, you know, their pocket.
Zim.
Yeah.
Their boats.
You know.
I got boots though.
But I wore boots before.
Okay.
Okay, all right.
Do you have cowboy boots, Caleb?
Yeah.
Yeah.
We always went to the cowboy Christmas in Vegas.
Oh.
Like every year.
Fun.
So, like, we would do the rodeo and go do that.
So, like, I would always get boots when we did that, which was always fun.
The NFR in Vegas is one of the coolest events.
Yeah, it's so cool.
I believe it.
Yeah, I bet.
All the vendors, it's like all the cool stuff.
You can't get anywhere else.
Yeah.
That's very cool.
It's, like, nice.
Yeah.
Bryce, would you ever do your own apparel or jewelry?
Maybe that's what you could do when you retire.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know. I mean, a lot of my apparel stuff goes through Under Armour. It's a, it's a very
hard thing to do. Yeah. Like, it's hard for, it's hard to kind of get that. Yeah. You do accessories.
Yeah. I mean. Hats, necklaces. For sure, but I feel like everybody has hats. Everybody, you know,
everybody's kind of doing that. I mean. Yeah, but the difference is you have a built in audience.
Yeah. I mean, my three stuff, a lot of people. So I have a, like, it's like a three brand with Under Armour,
but a lot of stuff I don't sell.
And so people are always asking, like, why do you not sell this stuff?
Why are we not doing this?
And I feel like I'm at the point of my career where, like, obviously people are still, you know,
pretty excited that I'm in the big leagues and stuff.
But at the same time, it's, I don't know.
I feel like I've missed my window a little bit.
I don't think so.
I'm just saying, like, the last, like, if I started this five, six, seven years ago,
like I think it would have been a lot better for me.
But yeah, I don't know.
I think you just age yourself.
I think you could do it.
Honestly, I think in five, six years when you retired, you could still do it.
I really do.
I don't know.
I feel like I just want to have like a little storefront.
I want to do a ice cream truck coffee truck.
Cool.
So like,
you know how like the ice cream trucks like around and they're like, you know.
Great idea.
In Nashville.
Like Friday, Saturdays like in the morning.
Yeah.
Like drive around.
Outside on Common James.
Drive around.
Oh yeah.
Drive around.
Yeah.
You know.
All the parents come out.
7 a.
Fun.
Wait,
that's a great idea.
It'd be cool.
Okay.
Love it.
All right.
I want to do a little rapid fire with you guys.
All about relationships.
Perfect.
Of you guys specifically.
Okay, who is more stubborn?
Me.
Who apologizes first?
Oh, that's nice.
Who is more competitive?
Oh.
You think I am?
Are you kidding me?
With you?
No, just in general.
Just in general.
In general.
Yeah, I guess I'm competitive.
Soccer player coming out.
I mean, on the field I am, but, like, we're playing chess or checkers.
Like, I couldn't care less.
I'm not competitive.
I feel that I mean.
Okay, I guess I'm competitive.
Who spends more money?
I mean, me.
I'm buying all the groceries.
I'm doing everything.
Right.
Yeah.
Maintaining a house.
Yeah.
Who says I love you more?
It's pretty even.
It's pretty even.
Yeah.
We don't go a phone call without, like, saying, like, even if we're mad or anything,
it don't matter.
Yeah.
Good.
Oh, you guys actually answered this, but who's a better gift giver?
Bryce.
By far.
Who is the more romantic one?
Bryce.
Cute.
What's the most romantic thing you've done?
She's putting a ring on her finger probably.
Why does every guy say that?
It doesn't count.
I'm kidding.
I think I know one.
You flew me from, I came to see you in New York.
I was in college still.
That's right.
We went to.
And it was like, I hadn't seen each other in probably like four or five months.
Oh, wow.
And he flew me to Canada to watch Florida Georgia Line for the night.
And then flew me back.
So that was kind of fun.
I love that.
And I mean, we were young.
We were probably 20.
That's, yeah.
When that happened.
So like, that was like, that was like a really big, like,
romantic thing.
Huge for 20-year-old to even think like that.
Yeah.
Okay, who is the better judge of character in general with other people?
Me.
Yeah.
I'll clock you.
Yeah, that's good.
It's not clocking.
It's not clocking to you.
I'm clocking.
You're clocking.
Well, that's it, you guys.
You guys are the best.
I really appreciate you being here.
And everyone check out Bryce's collab and go Philly.
Thank you.
Don't feel good.
