Let's Find Out - Facts About Our Universe Part 2 | ASMR whisper [space, astronomy]

Episode Date: January 31, 2019

I received so much support, encouragement, and kind feedback from the last "Facts About Our Universe": (https://youtu.be/oTRlFduFhLM) so here's another look into some fascinating facts, theories, and ...narratives from our, Earth, Solar System, Galaxy, and Universe. If you stay awake, the last half is dedicated to the Now-Interstellar Voyager spacecraft and the Golden Record of Earth's culture and greetings to whoever discovers it next. Sleep well. As always, I want to seriously thank you for all your warm support these past couple years. #ASMR #Facts #VoyagerGoldenRecord I've started a podcast to download to listen offline: http://letsfindoutasmr.libsyn.com/ (select videos) https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/l... Starting point is 00:00:14 So I'm just getting ready for bed four light years away. So that's 2 million... So hot that protons, individual protons, and that make up the nuclei of atoms. Hadn't even microwave background subatomic particles. It was actually a plasma, a white dense. have actually discovered the largest. It's a massive lump of crystallized.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Zero solar system itself rotates around the galaxy. Spinning of these pulsars, which has in its spinning at 24% of the speed of light. They're not just... What's crazy is that they're so, so dense than a spoonful of neutron star weighs a billion. They initiate the mass is, because the is in fact star dust,
Starting point is 00:14:36 because all the elements, except for hydrogen and helium, are created in stars from being fused and majestic to imagine that. And so right now we're actually in a very special, very unique, very creative, from itself takes about 225 million years to rotate just once together because the geological time scales are so immense, so hard to fathom and differentiate 20 million from 200 million years. Amensity is enough to we turn it in to ourselves in our biology. In fact, it seems like by mass, we're mostly bacteria. It makes you think just how dependent we are. And I've discovered or have tried to perceive what it would be like
Starting point is 00:20:28 and how space time would be warped from being right near a black hole. It turns out that if you could look out from inside, a black would be able to not only see the entire universe is that its rotation is slowing at a rate approximately 17 milliseconds a century and precise to be able to look at a mirror placed light years away like our nearest star. The observable universe, tropic as it is. Gravity is entropy, but will lessing matter, joining it together. And there's very interesting things like our brains that considered more than 10,000 possible trajectories for these spacecraft. Because this is our first reach out. Obviously with this, not so close that the next leg of the journey, close enough to Saturn.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Biovisual disc. Half a dozen very flawed human beings had taken it upon themselves to represent humanity as a culture and as an aesthetic. You explain to anything that might be out there. I did the idea during a meeting of the American Astronomical Society January of 1977. The Voyager Probes would launch in late August. so representing the entirety of human achievement in a single recording would have had to so the group as humans of want to do our want to do divided the labor was in charge of assembling pictures of earth selected the music Jack's creative director and later the co-writer of Cosmos, of course, oversaw the records, sounds of Earth. The Salzman collected greetings from people around the world, and Sagan himself served as the liaison between them and NASA. said abound researching, talking to historians and artists and ethno-musicologists. They reached out to political groups, documentarians.
Starting point is 00:36:19 They recorded human speaking, and among them, in perhaps the record's most iconic track, Sagan's young son, saying, greetings from the children. The result was a time capsule. that was and still is somewhere out there in space much more suggestive than summative. Humanity's cosmic mixtape blasted from Earth in 1977 with the Voyager spacecraft. Fortette number 13 in B-flat. So the golden record is encased in a protective aluminum jacket along with a cartridge and a needle. Both include symbolic in the spacecraft. And ideally, the logic of all this is simple.
Starting point is 00:39:20 It will be tens of thousands of years, if ever before either Voyager can make a close approach to any planetary system that triangulate, or whatever the word for 14 directions. It would be our sun from them. binary code actually defines the... Just really very cool, very simple, pretty quite brilliant, actually. They knew they could stick with something that's a constant across the entire universe. ...time it takes to transition from one electron configuration to the next most. The next least is a present from a small, distant world, a token,
Starting point is 00:46:00 of our sounds, our science, our images. Speak.
