Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey boss, you look stressed. Look at all these holiday orders coming in. I've got enough on my plate already. I can't deal with shipping. Ugh. I think it's time for a break. I can't. There's too much to do. You can. Because I got ship station to automate all of our shipping needs.
Starting point is 00:00:20 I think I heard about ship station on a podcast. Ship station is the easiest way to ship everywhere we sell online. It does all the work for us, so we can focus on growing our business. Returns are simple. Book order updates and automation options make order fulfillment easy. All while saving up to 84% off top carriers, it's more sales with less work. You mean what would you do without ship station? That too.

Welcome to Wednesday One Shots, the series where we share a bonus story to help you get through the week. This time around we have a story from a listener named Tina titled The Worst Best Friend Ever. I couldn't agree more with that title. It describes a very, very disappointing and awful experience, and it proves that you never know who you can really trust. This happened almost 10 years ago. My husband and I would visit his best friend and his wife a few times per year. They lived two and a half hours away from us,
Starting point is 00:01:46 so we would visit them for long weekends. Before of us always had a great time together and spent a lot of those weekends together, just relaxing by their pool. As the years went by, my husband had some health issues that caught up to him all at once. He had a stroke.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Then, as soon as he was beginning to get better, he had another. He later had a heart attack and had to go in for a heart catheterization. Obviously, through all of these health crises, I would keep my husband's friends in the loop. So when I informed them about the upcoming catheterization, my husband's best friend wanted to drive us so that he could be there for the procedure. I knew my husband would be excited to see his best friend, and as soon as his best friend arrived, we went to the hospital to see him.
Starting point is 00:02:39 The procedure was early the next morning, so we didn't stay long because we wanted to make sure that my husband had a good night's sleep. His best friend and I left after visiting for about 30 minutes, then went back to my house. My husband's best friend was on the couch, and I was in the bedroom. I was almost asleep when he knocked on the bedroom door. He then opened the door and claimed that the couch was hurting his back and asked if he could sleep with me.
Starting point is 00:03:11 I was in shock. Before I could even answer, he climbed into bed with me. Now I am eternally grateful for my 70-pound dog who was in the middle of the bed and acted as a buffer between us. Since I was in bed, I wasn't wearing a lot, so I slowly moved out of the bed and acted as a buffer between us. Since I was in bed, I wasn't wearing a lot, so I slowly moved out of the bed and reached for my robe. I was about to tell him that he could have the bed and I would sleep on the couch when he reached over my dog then tried to kiss me. I don't remember what I said, but I know I made him leave immediately. My mind was racing. He left, apologizing profusely,
Starting point is 00:03:47 and I wedged a chair under the door knob so that he wouldn't be able to come back in. I couldn't believe what happened. He had been my husband's best friend for over 20 years. Why would he betray my husband like that? Why would he betray his wife? He had never made any advances towards me in the years that I had known him, so it was completely out of the blue.
Starting point is 00:04:11 The next day, I woke up and saw that he had already left for the hospital before I even got up. Once I got to the hospital, I didn't want to upset my husband so I acted like nothing was wrong. We visited him before his procedure. We didn't sit together in the waiting room, and after my husband's procedure was over, we were able to see him, and his best friend left to go back to his house. Sadly, my husband passed away after a few weeks later, and I never told him what happened. I only saw his best friend one other time after that, and that was at his funeral. So to my late husband's former best friend, let's never meet again.
