Life in Colour - 26: Style Goal Setting For 2026: The First Step to Loving Your Wardrobe Again

Episode Date: February 9, 2026

Today’s episode is all about style goal setting and why being intentional with your wardrobe can completely change how you feel when you get dressed. This is a special sneak peek into one o...f the masterclasses I ran inside The Colour Collective, and it’s designed to help you get really clear on what you want from your wardrobe in 2026 — not just what you want it to look like, but how you want it to feel. Because style goals are just like any other goals… if you don’t know where you’re heading, you’ll keep buying random pieces and still feel like you have nothing to wear. In this episode, I’ll walk you through practical questions and steps to help you define your personal style direction, understand what’s working (and what isn’t), and create a wardrobe that supports your lifestyle and your confidence. In This Episode, I Cover: Why style goals matter just as much as health or career goals How to figure out what you actually want your wardrobe to do for you The difference between shopping for clothes and building a wardrobe How to identify what’s currently working in your outfits The key questions to ask yourself before buying anything new How to choose a “style direction” for the year ahead How to make your wardrobe feel more intentional (without spending a fortune) Questions Mentioned in the Episode: Here are a few of the questions I share to help you set your style goals: How do I want to feel in my clothes this year? What do I want to be known for style-wise? What outfits do I feel my best in — and why? What am I constantly reaching for? What do I avoid wearing, even though I own it? What’s missing from my wardrobe that would make getting dressed easier? Mentioned / Resources: ✨ This episode is inspired by a masterclass inside The Colour Collective — my membership where I help women learn how to actually wear their colour palette and build wardrobes that feel effortless. Starting point is 00:00:37 life. Welcome to Life in Color. Hi everyone, I am so happy to be back, ready to record a new season for Life in Color for 2026. I took a very much needed long break over the summer and I have to say it was just the best summer ever. We had the best time where we did a lot of nothing, which was just amazing. Like I read books and I played piano and I went in the pool a lot and we ate nice food and we hung out and I just really enjoyed some much needed family time and time with my teens and just really slowed the pace down, which I think is exactly what summer is all about. But I am back and I'm here with you and I've had so many ideas for podcast episodes while
Starting point is 00:01:27 I've had that time off. I've tried really hard to switch off, but that could be a bit hard when you're an entrepreneur and like you're doing your own thing. So I have had a number of different ideas, but today I wanted to give you a little bit of an insight actually into what it's like as a member of the colour collective. And I'm going to do a master class for you today that I actually did for them back in September. And the reason that I'm doing it now is because it's all about goal setting. So when I did it then, it was the change of the weather season. So like we were coming out of all the cold seasons in Australia. And then we were heading into like spring and summer weather season.
Starting point is 00:02:01 So the weather was much, much warmer, which this season it has. It's been delightful. But I actually think another great time of the year to do this is at the start of a new year. Now, the reason that I'm recording this, A, I took time off in January because that's what I decided to do to have a break. But also, I know that so many moms in particular feel that their start of a new year actually starts when the kids go back to school. It's sort of like this is my first full week of my boys being back in school.
Starting point is 00:02:30 My daughter has left. But everyone's getting back into routine a little bit now. And I feel like that's when mums in particular start to think, okay, I can start thinking of myself a little bit more. What do I want out of 2026? Like I've thought about my mood board. I've got my two words for the year. So my business one, I'm going to keep private.
Starting point is 00:02:48 My personal one, I'm more than happy to share. And that's hobbies. I feel like I lost doing a lot of hobbies and things for my. And so I've decided that hobbies is my word of the year for this year. So that I got as far as that. I haven't really done any mood boards. I've done a little bit of goal setting. Normally I do it in that Christmas New Year break, you know, the week between Christmas and New Year. But I didn't this time because I just felt that I really needed, desperately needed that rest. And my brain needed that rest too. So that's why I haven't done it yet. And I feel like a lot of moms like I even saw someone on Instagram yesterday saying that
Starting point is 00:03:22 that's what she was working on this week as doing her own mood board. So that's why I feel like this is a really pertinent time. So I'm actually going to take you through the exact questions that I took my color collective members through back in September. And they found it really, really helpful. And I actually had a couple of documents that go with it so that you can actually fill this out for yourself. So they will be in the show notes if you would like to use them. So when I talk about setting goals for the year, I'm talking in terms of obviously on my podcast, we are all about fashion and clothing and making you feel good. But there are some of the things in here that I want you to think about,
Starting point is 00:04:01 which it is a mindset thing as well. And like I've talked about this a lot, and especially for my style reset clients, which are my deep dive one-to-one five-week mentoring program that I have, that mindset is such a big part of that, how you feel in your clothes, what you wear in your clothes. Obviously, I've talked about it a number of times on here on the podcast, but that's where I would start.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And so my first question that I said to my members was, what do you want your everyday style to feel like? So you can think of 2026 as a whole, or you could break it down into quarters, you could break it down into weather seasons, however you want to do this. What do you want that everyday style to feel like? So that's when you can even think a little bit
Starting point is 00:04:43 in terms of like style personalities of what actually is my style personality. do I have a style personality? Do I want to be extra comfortable? Do I want to maybe feel for one of a better phrase? I don't necessarily like always using the word elevated because I think it gets overused, but it's more about taking an everyday outfit and adding a few things to it to make it feel more like you or to make it feel like it's a little bit more polished or a little bit more than just jeans and a tea. Put on an ice pair of like loaf of shoes. You've put on a belt with it. You've chosen an oversized handbag with it. you've gone for the chunky necklace, you've gone for the bold lip, all those little things.
Starting point is 00:05:21 They carry, like, they do the work. They do the heavy lifting to create that outfit that you're after. So when we're talking about everyday style, for those of you that work in an office or out of the house and that you're not in a uniform, for example, if you're a nurse or someone like that, you've got a uniform that you're having to wear all the time. But obviously, I know that teachers, teachers have a specific kind of style or things that they have to wear in terms of being able to bend over without showing, you know, you don't want your dress to be gaping or you don't want something to be too short. So there's obviously parameters,
Starting point is 00:05:55 even though you can choose what you wear, there are parameters about what you choose to wear even as a teacher. So if you're working like in a law firm, obviously do you need to be a lot more corporate, so you're going to have a lot more structure, a lot more tailored pieces that you're wearing, all of those kinds of things. If you are that, if you're like that and you have like a differentiation between a work wardrobe and a personal wardrobe, like that you wear on weekends and evenings or going out casually, then you almost want to think about your everyday style in two different buckets. I would create a workwear one and I would create a weekend one. For me, working from home, there's a little bit more of a crossover. However, I have to say that
Starting point is 00:06:35 Fridays are my official day off from work. So I tend to dress down more on Fridays. I will wear things that sometimes I might just stay in my active wear. If I'm going up with friends, and obviously, or I'm going for lunch, then I'll do something different. Weekend, sometimes I'm dressed down a little bit more if we're just hanging around the house. But during the week, I like to dress how I like to dress and I dress a little bit more, not formal, but I could, you know, working from home, I could stay in active wear all the time. I don't. I like to get dressed because then that is how it makes me feel impacts how then I show up for the day. Like today, it's a warm day but I've got a shift dress on and I haven't actually got any accessories or anything
Starting point is 00:07:15 else on today but I've done my hair nicely I've got a little bit of lip gloss on and for me I know that it's a work day and that even is a really big differentiation like this is going to sound crazy and I do wear it occasionally if I'm working on a Friday I've got a t-shirt from when we visited Kate Canaveral in the US and I love it like absolutely love it it reminds me of It reminds me of family. It reminds me of the day that we were there. It's not often I will wear that t-shirt for work. I would say it's very, very rare. In my head, I don't know why I put it. It's a more special t-shirt, but I've put it as a t-shirt that I would wear on a Friday's a dress-down day or I wear it on a weekend. I think you've probably seen it in my reels when I've occasionally used it in there.
Starting point is 00:08:00 But there's a few things that I sort of separate out. And I know that I've got other clients who they wear similar things for casual and for work, but they actually like to separate it out. So there might be one color they wear for casual and one color they weigh for work. So in their head, it doesn't blur the boundaries. They like to keep their work wardrobe, their work wardrobe. So I want you to write down what you want this everyday style to feel like. Do you want it to be more like natural casual, which is sort of dressed down, very easy to wear jeans in a t-shirt, a skirt and a t-shirt, that kind of thing? Do you want to be like sort of more 100% casual, but you don't necessarily, you wouldn't want to wear necessarily flip-flops with it? You'd want to
Starting point is 00:08:40 wear something that's a little bit more like a structured slide or you like wearing a block heel, that kind of thing. All these little details I want you to put down. Do you want to be a bit more bold, a bit more dramatic? Do you want to bring a bit of boho romanticism into your wardrobe? Do you want to be a bit more soft and floral and feminine? Or would you really like to have some very modern, dramatic, bold pieces in your wardrobe? All of these are the things that I would like you to have to think about. Now, next, when we talk about silhouettes, and fabrics and outfit combinations, I want you to think about all of the things in those particular areas you'd like to try. Would you like to wear, say that Kennedy T-shirt that I spoke to you
Starting point is 00:09:21 about, I only, only wear that with denim. Like, I've never worn it with anything else. So for me, I could be like, you know what, I've actually got a pair of like really deep navy wide-leg pants to dress that top up. I could actually, or T-shirt up, I could actually put that with those pants. I've got a pair of white wide leg pants. Could I put it with that? Actually, you know what? I've never worn it with my long denim skirt. Do I want to wear it like that?
Starting point is 00:09:46 All of these different things, outfit combinations, I literally want you to sit in front of your wardrobe and think about, well, I've never worn this with that. I wonder how that will go. And sometimes you'll try them on and you'll be like, that really doesn't work. And that's okay because that's what it is. It's all trial and error.
Starting point is 00:10:00 But if you find you outfit combinations within your own wardrobe, A, that helps you to think about what you actually want to wear, this year, but also it helps get more wear out of the wardrobe that you've already got rather than shopping for something extra. So it works in so many different ways. I also want you to think about fabrics. I have some clients in particular that love linen. They will live in linen. They will always even wear it in like winter when it's cold and now just layer underneath it to keep themselves warm. I have others that can't stand it. So I want you to think about the fabrics that you've got, are there new fabrics that you would like to try? Would you, this year, instead of
Starting point is 00:10:35 wearing sort of a cheaper acrylic jumper in winter, would you prefer to invest maybe in one merino wall piece or like a cashmere piece, something like that? I want you to really have a think about that. I want you to think about in terms of silhouettes, oh, I've never actually tried a pencil skirt. I know that it suits my body shape being an hourglass, but I've never actually tried it. So that was an example because, as you know, I'm a rectangle. But for someone that is an hourglass who can wear a pencil skirt. They've never tried it because they thought maybe it might be a bit too huggy on their hips. It's about finding the right one for you. This year I'm going to try more pencil skirts on until I find the right one for me because that's something I'd really like to
Starting point is 00:11:17 incorporate. They're the kinds of questions I want you to ask yourself. Then from there, and I am going through this quite quickly to make sure I can cover everything, there is, like I said, the downloadable work book for you to use. What pieces in your wardrobe do you want? Do you want to wear more often. That's really, really important because if you've got some items in your wardrobe, I have a couple of dresses in my wardrobe that I bought from nude Lucy. I've not worn them anywhere near as much as I would have liked to, and I think about it every time I look at them. I've probably worn them a couple of times each. Now, they are quite a form-fitting dress for me. They're not like a stretchy one, so I've been dealing with a little bit of bloating recently.
Starting point is 00:11:59 and when I'm bloated, I can't really fit in that dress comfortably. And so I'm choosing not to wear it. So I know why I'm not wearing it. However, on the days that I'm not wearing it, why am I not choosing it? Am I not choosing it because I feel like it's too smart a dress to wear from home? Am I not choosing it because I'm going to Woolies that day? And it's, again, a dress that, oh, you're not going to wear that kind of dress if you're then popping into Woolies.
Starting point is 00:12:26 All of these kinds of things, I would like you to have a thing. think about because that means again that you're going to get more wear out of those items in your wardrobe but also you'll start making it out of the reasons as to why you don't wear them and look at those reasons. It may be that you absolutely love that top but there is a reason why you don't wear it and why you're not going to wear it. So all of these things add up. Okay. So the next thing that I'd like you to think about is, is there anything you'd like to stop wearing because it doesn't feel like you anymore. When it comes to this, it's looking at things in your wardrobe, like, I've got, I think I've talked about them before. I have these tops from witchery, and I'm pretty sure I've
Starting point is 00:13:05 talked about this with the girls in the color collective as well, that I have these tops from witchery. I loved them. I loved them 10 years ago when I wore them religiously, every like autumn, winter. They were like that stretchy kind of bambooy fabric. If anyone remembers that classic witchery line, I think it was in their essentials range, maybe, and they used to do them in so many different colors. Anyway, I've still got them in my wardrobe and yet they don't really get worn. I'd like to wear them, but they don't really get worn. So that can even go under this category because I know that they're taking up space in my wardrobe and in my mind. It's almost like when I look at them, I really miss wearing them. And then I put them on and
Starting point is 00:13:48 I realize that they've stretched out or they've become a bit more see-through or they just don't kind of work anymore. And I don't want to say it's yearning for a time. to wear it like obviously I really enjoyed that time. The kids were really little. I was running around and it was just a different time, a different season in my life and maybe that's why I've held on to them, but they're not serving me anything. Like they're not doing anything for me. So it's time for those to move on. Then I've actually also got a colour in my wardrobe that every time I try and wear it, it's outside of my colour palette and we're going to talk about colour in a second. It doesn't feel like me. So that has to go because there's no point. And when I say it has to go, it's not that I'm going to throw it
Starting point is 00:14:30 away, I can donate it. I actually give a lot of my clothes to friends who are the same size as me or who have daughters the same size as me. And especially if they're in a color palette that's not my color palette, then I know that I, and I know their colors, I know that I can pass it on and they'll wear it. So there's a lot of things like that. But then for you, it could be that you want to stop wearing, say you have like a mum uniform that you wear all the time or you wear the same things to your law office to work. It's the same black that you wear all the time and you don't actually even like the cuts of it. I'm not saying that you have to throw them out. What I'm saying though is don't, when you want to stop wearing them, put them to one side, put them in a box, put them
Starting point is 00:15:15 somewhere where you're not getting rid of them completely if you're not ready to let them go. but that it's just not serving you. And by taking it out of your wardrobe, you are creating that space, you are creating that space in your mind and physically in your wardrobe to then be able to bring more things in or to even be able to see more of the things that you actually have.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Like when I recently transferred my wardrobe from my room into my office, I've got a wardrobe in my office. And I could see things so much more clearly in this wardrobe compared to the little pokey one that I used to share with my husband. It made all the difference in the world because when I open those double doors now, I can see everything.
Starting point is 00:15:51 And when I transferred things in here, I left things out because I knew that I wasn't going to wear them. And I knew that I wanted to stop wearing a couple of things in there because every time I put them on, like I had a pair of Country Road, white denim jeans. They were baggy. They were too big on my waist now. For me, I felt frumpy when I wore it. And so I knew that it was time for those kinds of things to move on. So really make a note of things that you would like to stop wearing because I
Starting point is 00:16:18 it's not able to be worn anymore, it's a little bit worn or it's damaged or it's stained, or because it really doesn't feel good. All of those things contribute that I've mentioned before contribute to you not feeling good, but it can also be that you love the style. It can absolutely be, I'll give you an example, and I've tried it a few different ways, and I think I've found something better. It doesn't 100% work for me, but it's better for me. I love it when I see someone say in like a pair of Lorna Jane tights and then they have a tank underneath and then they have like a linen shirt or a denim shirt over the top just open every time I've tried that it swamps me and it looks like I've tried to shove something fashionable together but it doesn't necessarily work and
Starting point is 00:17:00 that's actually key because that is right I love it but that kind of style doesn't work for me I love some of the prints at Mr Zimmy love them they don't work for me and I know they don't work for me because those kinds of patterns just overwhelm me and suddenly I feel like I'm drowning in it. So whilst we can love and appreciate some styles from afar and there are going to be some things that you absolutely love, they just don't necessarily love you back. And that's what knowing about what your style is rather than necessarily what everyone else's style is. And there are going to be times like with anything that something doesn't necessarily work for you.
Starting point is 00:17:43 And that's okay. You can still love it. You can still, you know, save all those posts on Instagram and things like that and even send it to a friend who you know it does really suit. And I admire some of those things from afar, but I know that for me, it just doesn't work. So that's something that is a really big thing to note on these goals of what you want to do for your wardrobe for 2026 of what are you also willing to let go? What are you willing to let go of trying to force to make work?
Starting point is 00:18:12 because you feel like you really, really want it to work. And this can even be a hair color, it could be makeup, it could be anything. Rather than stop trying to force it, maybe just let it go and appreciate it from afar. And understanding that not everything suits you is actually quite freeing. So I highly recommend you try that. Okay. Now we move on to the next part, which is colour. So when I presented this, obviously, in my colour collective as a master class,
Starting point is 00:18:40 everybody in there knows their colour palette because they've had a colour analysis with me. If you're interested in having a colour analysis with me, I do both in person and virtual. I had such high demand and request in January for me to asking me if I still had the $150 special which I had brought in for Christmas. And the great news is I've actually now decided to keep that for the entire year. So the $150 colour analysis is available on my website. I'll have all of the details in the show notes and I'll put them at the end of this show as well. So just knowing moving into this part a little bit, these ladies did know their colour palettes.
Starting point is 00:19:17 But I'm going to, I'll tell you a little bit and I'll amend it as much as I can for all of you. But I want you to think about what colours in your wardrobe are you most excited to wear this year? Are there new colours potentially that you want to experiment with, which we'll get into later? But I really want you to look at your wardrobe and have a think about the colours that you really, enjoy wearing that you get a buzz out of wearing and I cannot tell you how many times when I speak to a colour client, whether this is in person, in the colour collective or in my DMs of I got so many or I get so many compliments when I wear this colour. Deep down, sometimes you already have an idea and it may not necessarily be that it's a colour from your palette. It could be a colour from
Starting point is 00:20:02 your sister palette or it could be a bright rather than you wear muted colours all the time and suddenly occasionally you wear a bright cobalt blue and that's what people comment. on. So have a little think about that. Like for me, whenever I wear pink, I have that cornflower blue. And now when I wear yellow, I get comments every single time I wear my yellow without a doubt. So it's knowing sort of those colors that make you feel good, but are also commented on. Have a look at them and write them down. I want you to write it down on this piece of paper because this is, when you write it down, it's like you're committing to yourself. And so I want you to be committing to yourself with these goals, that this is what you're going to try and do more of this year so that you
Starting point is 00:20:45 feel so much better in what you wear in 2026, that if you were really unhappy in what you were wearing in 2025, or even if you felt that it was okay, or you've come into 2026 and you're like, you know what, I'm a bit bored with what I'm wearing. I just want to shake it up a little bit, whichever little bucket that you're in or group that you're in, that is all okay. Everyone can do this. Absolutely everyone, including men. So I've got colours in my colour palette that I want to keep introducing. There's a green. I don't have much of the green and the teal in my wardrobe.
Starting point is 00:21:17 I want to bring more of that in. And I'm really excited about that. Then I want you to have a think about, do you want to experiment with adding a new accent colour? So this obviously was for the ladies in my colour collective. So they knew what their accent colours were. And an accent colour, just to break it down for all of you, so you've got your neutrals and then you've got your accent colours.
Starting point is 00:21:40 And so you can use your accent colors, say for me, it would be a pink. I could use a pink and I could wear that with navy and denim, which are my neutrals. So what kind of a new do you want to try in your wardrobe in 2026? And then I also want you to split it out. I want you to look at your neutrals. Do you only wear black? Do you only wear tan? Do you only wear khaki?
Starting point is 00:22:05 Do you only wear white? Do you wear white, but you've never tried cream, but you think? you're warm toned. 100%. A little side note, try the cream. It will 100% change your life. If you're warm toned and you switch into cream rather than wearing white. You will not look anywhere near as washed out. I can trust me when I say that.
Starting point is 00:22:28 And just as a side note, there is a fabulous, fabulous, fabulous cream top at Target at the moment. It's $15. I will link that below as well. And sorry, perimenopause. brain kicking in. I'm trying to remember everything that I want to tell you whilst I know that dinner is cooking downstairs. But yes, that will change. That will be an absolute game changer for you. So I want you to really note down what kind of accent colour. So very quickly to take you through some of the pallets, like for, I'll choose one colour per palettes. So for a bright winter,
Starting point is 00:23:00 that could be like their bright red, like a very, very, very bright raspberry red. For a cool winter, that could be like a musk pink, very cool-toned purpley pink must pink. Don't think of the pale one. This has really got a punch behind it. It is bold. For a deep winter, that could be like a really deep teal. For a bright spring, that could be the sunshine yellow. For a light spring, that could be a peach. For a warm spring, that could be like there's a really bright, warm blue. Like it's so warm. It's got so much yellow in its base. They could try that. A soft autumn could try like a beautiful sage kind of green. Then you have a warm autumn. There's actually a really beautiful rosy pink in warm autumn, so someone could try that. Deep autumn, you could go with a beautiful
Starting point is 00:23:45 like magenta. They have such beautiful purples, deep, rich, magentary kind of purples in deep autumn. And then soft summer, you could go for like a torp kind of color, but it's got more purple in it. So it's not actually a neutral. A light summer, you could go for a baby pink. And for cool summer, you could go for a really lovely, deeper cornflower blue. So that's what I mean. when I say looking at your accent colours. And then obviously with your neutrals, warm versus cool, we've talked about this so many times. But just to recap quickly, cool-toned neutrals are grey, navy, white, charcoal and black.
Starting point is 00:24:23 And then you have in the warm tones, you have tan, caramel, carcchi, beige and cream. So knowing your neutrals is so important. Do the white versus cream test I've talked about so many times. If you want some more details on it, I do have. a free guide to help you with all of that. But that's where I would start if you really don't know. Then I would want you to have a think about, are there colors that you've been avoiding to try? Now, this can be a little bit more tricky because if you don't know your colour palette, but if there are certain colours out there, and I hear this a lot from clients when they first come in,
Starting point is 00:24:59 oh, I would never wear, and I'm going to use say a yellow, I would never wear a yellow because it just doesn't suit me. I thought that my entire life. And that's not. joke. I have thought that my entire life up until about, it was two years ago now, that I could never wear yellow. I've talked about this before that I thought it was my mum's color and my sister's color and that, yeah, it just was not me. I was the pink girl. She was a yellow girl. I was the pink girl. That's how it worked. But I've since learned and realized I really suit yellow. It was all about the shade. And when I say to clients, and people really see it when I do an in-person and with drapes in particular, that it is sometimes the subtlest, and I mean the subtlest,
Starting point is 00:25:45 changing color and change in tone or change in depth or change in brightness or change in lightness that makes all the difference in the world. So if you have been avoiding, say, yellow, I want you to go out there and I want you to try on all the different yellows and take a photo, and I know that change room lighting can suck like it can be terrible, but that's what I want you to do because there is a yellow out there for you. And sometimes you might think, I've already try this on it before in another shop. Nope, try it on again. The subtle variation can make all the difference in the world. And then when you're looking at that, I want you to see, does it make me more washed out? Can you see the color before you see me? Does it give me more of a natural flush,
Starting point is 00:26:23 like a real rosiness to my cheeks? Does it make me look more tanned? Do I, does my complexion start to go quite muddy? Like a cool tone wearing like a mustard, their skin tone can go quite muddy. So they're the kinds of things that you're looking for. And I want you to really think, of a colour that you've been avoiding that you'd like to try because I could have gone through my entire life thinking that yellow didn't suit me and I am so happy, so happy that I didn't and that I did try it. And when I tried it, I think I've talked about this before, I did an $8 Kmart t-shirt and I just wanted to test out how much I would wear it. It makes me so happy wearing that color. I just love it. So try to look at what you've been avoiding and why.
Starting point is 00:27:09 and then go out there and try on as many different shades as you can. And I would love, let me know. Like, honestly, please come into my DMs. Please send me emails after listening to this because I would love to answer your questions if you've got some. And I would love to be able to help you determine things and figure out things if you're not quite sure. And just hear your feedback on how you've gone as well. So how do you want colour to make you feel in your outfits in 2026? Do you want to use it more as an accent color?
Starting point is 00:27:37 There is nothing wrong with wearing. neutral. Absolutely not, but would you like to inject some color into that? Do you want your color to make you feel bold and powerful? Like, are you in a situation at work where you've become, say you've become the boss and you're feeling a little bit intimidated and you just want to show up as your best self, but you just really also want to do a bit of that power dressing? Then that's where you go for the colors. And I'm not saying they have to be bold and bright. No. Some of those colors on the right person from soft autumn or soft summer or light spring, light summer, they can work a treat. If I walked into an office and I say I wanted to do a presentation, I know exactly the colors that I would go for that
Starting point is 00:28:19 would make me stand out in that room. And they are not bold and bright because that's not who I am. That's not my colour palette. So I really want you to think about how you want you make your colours to feel. Do you want your colours to be a little bit more calming? Again, every single palette can make you feel calming because they're your colours. So all of these things I want you to think about in terms of colour when it comes to doing this goal setting for 20 to 26. Now we're going to move on to makeup because that's also what I did for this master class. So are there any makeup looks or products that you would like to give a bit of a refresh? Have you been doing the same five-minute makeup for the past 20 years? And that's okay if you have. No shame in that whatsoever. Do I have
Starting point is 00:29:04 I go to? 100%. But do I mix it up by using different color lipsticks or a different little shade of blush or different eyeshadows? Yes. That's how I do it. Yes, I might have the same routine and I put it on in the same order. I'm not asking you to change all of that. But if you haven't say you've been using your bronzer as a blush, I highly recommend you finding a blush because it makes all the difference. It really does. I'm not saying you have to use it every day, but it can really make it cohesive. I took one of my, when the colour collective had a member meetup at the end of last year, we went shopping. And one of my lovely members, we were looking at a bronzer and we were looking at a blush. And she tried both of them on, but we put them on together. And they just made a beautiful
Starting point is 00:29:49 pairing because they were just perfect for each other. You're wondering, she is a bright spring. They were in the Mecca Max range and there was a beautiful like peach blush and it was a sunlit bronzer. I highly recommend the mecca range sunlit bronzers by the way. they're not too orange for people. Do you want to update your lipstick or your nail polish shades? Nail polish is so underrated as like an accessory. Use it. Not just on your toes. If you're comfortable, use it on your fingers as well. And I have never had so many comments on my nails as when I painted them a beautiful light blue. Like seriously, I think I'm going to do it again for autumn this year. I'm pretty sure I did it for autumn last year or the year before.
Starting point is 00:30:27 I've never had so many comments. People were even in Woolies were stopping me and saying, my goodness, I absolutely love your nails. Like, where did you, where's that color from? I couldn't tell them because, you know, I just picked it out of the basket, but it made such a difference. But choose a color that goes, if you know your colors, choose one of your colors that you love wearing. Obviously, it's cohesive if you know your colors because it will go with everything. You can go into your sister palettes. There are so many different colors now that you can choose for nails. Just a little note on if you're going for a nude kind of color nail. I've got one at the moment, which is very much like I've had a French manic done, but I've literally just had the pink put on. It is the most beautiful pink.
Starting point is 00:31:12 It is very, very cool toned. And I can get away with that because I'm cool toned. Just have a look at those pinks if you're wanting to have it. And she put three layers on because we wanted to make it a bit more opaque. Just have a look at those pinks. If you are warm toned, try and get one that goes as close to your natural nail as possible because if it's a little bit too cool tone, you'll notice that against your skin, just as a little side note. But yes, lipsticks and now polish shades can make all of the difference to you throughout the entire year. And whilst there is that thing that when you go into the, you know, the weather seasons of autumn winter that makeup can become a bit more moodier and people wear darker colours and everything,
Starting point is 00:31:55 that is absolutely the case. Don't feel like as a light, summer. I don't do that, but I might mix up my eye shadow maybe a little bit more, a little bit more, or I might use a little bit more of an eyeliner. But when it comes to actual lipsticks, I generally have my same rotation the entire year round. Is there a tweak that you would like to make to your foundation or your base? Now, I know that there's actually two very popular foundations. One is the luminous silk by Armani and the other one is Estée Lauda Doubleware. They have both gone through a reformulation and the new.
Starting point is 00:32:28 formulas have come out. They have been reformulated because there's certain ingredients in them that have been now been banned by the EU and so they had to be reformulated. Now, I used to use the Armani one a long time ago when I was a makeup artist, as you know, with my allergies, I can't now. But I've heard that the Armani one is still very good. I haven't seen reviews yet necessarily the Estée Lauder one. So I can't say, but if there's things that you're wanting to do, like it's with your foundation, Don't feel that if you choose that you want to wear a matte foundation and then one day you're like, it's actually, especially in winter when skin can look a bit drier, it can cling a little bit, it can look a little bit flat.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Don't feel that you have to go and buy a new foundation. You don't. You can actually just put something illuminating and you can mix it into your foundation. Or you can put it like the MCO Beauty, flawless glow. Obviously Charlotte Tilbury have one and I know the brand elf have one. You can put that underneath your foundation and then put your foundation on top and then that will give you a little bit of a glow. There are so many different kinds of foundations.
Starting point is 00:33:31 You have matte, you have satin, you have a natural kind of finish, and then you have like the glowy kind of finish. So just have a think about if there's anything this year to do with your foundation or your base that you would like to mix up. Is your concealer a little bit too cakey under your eyes now and you're wanting to change your concealer? Are you wanting to use a color corrector if your under eyes got a little bit darker? These are all the things I want you to have a think about.
Starting point is 00:33:55 And then last but not least, what's one thing you'd like your makeup to enhance about your look this year? So for some people that could be their eyes, that they really want to try like doing a smoky eye, so they'd like to enhance that this year. For others, it's making their skin glow. Like perimenopause and menopause as we know, can play havoc with our skin. And it can change on us in an instant what worked one day, suddenly next week, isn't working for us. So it's having a think about all of those things to get. it could be like for me I'm still on the hunt for those perfect pink lipsticks. I think I found the nude one that I'm after now, but I haven't necessarily found the perfect pink one that doesn't
Starting point is 00:34:36 dry out my lips and is the right shade on its own without having to mix it like I mix it with a lip liner and I might mix it with a gloss. So that's the kind of thing I'm after. I do have a list of things myself. And then there's things on here as a last thing to add that you are wanting to try wearing in 2026 and put them on a list. Like so for me, I know I've come into 2026. I would like some more skirts. And it could be that I actually have to make them. If I can't find them in store, I'm teaching myself to sew.
Starting point is 00:35:08 So it could be that I'm wanting to make some skirts. It could also be that I'm wanting to get some suede like kitten heel boots. I am so excited about that. That's on my wish list. But I also know it's a particular kind of brown that I'm after. I'm not after the really dark brown, like the link chocolate kind of brown. I'm after a bit of a softer one, a little bit more subtle. And I did find one in the UK, but it have really bad reviews.
Starting point is 00:35:34 So I'm not buying boots from the UK, getting them shipped here, and then I can't send them back. So that's on my list. And then obviously I've got other things on my list too. But just start making a note because it really can help and go to Pinterest and take photos of outfits that you like. And it's not necessarily that you want the whole outfit. It could just be a part of it. my daughter is brilliant at doing this. And so she last year put all these things on there that she wanted
Starting point is 00:35:57 for outfits. She's done it for this year and she knows exactly what she's saving up to buy. Will it stop any sort of other purchases? Not necessarily, but she knows that those are the things that when she sees it, she will buy it because it's been on her list for a really long time. And then I've got a couple more other things on my list too. Things on my list that I don't know I definitely don't need, I do not need any more jeans. I do not need any more blazers. I probably do not need any more more linen shirts. I've got lots of pairs of shorts now. For me now, more coming into summer, like later this year in 2020, it'll be more like spring summer. It would be dresses. I want some more dresses. I think there's some in my wardrobe that as much as I love them.
Starting point is 00:36:37 I don't actually wear them as much anymore and that's what this summer has taught me. And then now that I've purchased a pair of shoes, a ballet flats that I'm comfortable to wear in autumn winter here, because they're navy, I feel like there's a lot more skirts and things that I'm wanting to wear with them. Now that I've got those, they were like one of the missing key things. And then I think like the boots that I mentioned. So write all of those down. Now, I hope this has been helpful because I know that my members loved it and they really enjoyed it. And they took the time though to go away and to sit down and to really think about it. That is one of the keys here is to sit down and think about it. And even if you are driving whilst listening to this or
Starting point is 00:37:17 you're doing housework, even if you obviously pull over if you're driving or wait until you get to the office or home or wherever you are. just pull out your notes on your app on your phone, notes app on your phone, and jot down some ideas that come to mind. Because if you're anything like me when you're listening to a podcast, your mind starts going off into, oh yeah, I can think of that and I can think of that and I can do this. Just put it in your notes app and you can come back to it.
Starting point is 00:37:39 I've also put a couple more resources in there as well. They are Canva templates. And they are templates so that you can actually take photos of the items that you have got in your wardrobe and you can actually start to create outfit ideas with them and you can sort of catalogue what you've got so then it makes it much more easy to put outfits together and then you can stick that to the inside of your wardrobe so that you know an outfit combination straight away and I can guarantee you that when you start playing around with things like that again you come up with color combinations that you'd never thought of or combinations of outfits
Starting point is 00:38:14 you'd never thought of if you were like me when you were little and you enjoyed you know those cardboard doll books and you used to be able to take it and you could put on the top and then you could put on the bottom. I used to love doing things like that, the stickers as well. I used to love doing things like that. That's what this is like in Canva and you can just, you know, put your bags in there, put accessories in there, put your shoes in there. I know it's a bit of work, but I can guarantee you, you'll start wearing so much more of your wardrobe if you do it and you'll really, really enjoy it. So there's a couple of documents in there for you to use. They are, you just make a copy of them and then they are editable from there.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Well, I hope you've enjoyed it. We've started with a bang. 2026 with this episode, but I know there's been so much information that I have thrown your way, but I hope that it is helpful. I hope you enjoy it. And I hope you take action. Because if you're feeling like what you wear and the clothes you wear isn't quite where you want to be, now is the time to make a change because I can guarantee you if you don't,
Starting point is 00:39:14 you will still be wearing exactly the same thing this time. next year feeling the same way. It's not necessarily, it's not about going out and buying a whole new wardrobe. It is about working with what you have, making a list of the things that you would like to have, and then making sure it all works cohesively together. Now, earlier I did mention about having a colour analysis with me if you are interested. Like I mentioned, I do do in person, and I do virtual ones as well. The virtual one is 150.
