Always has, but when he lived at home during our early years of dating, his mum would nag him about it so it wasn't as bad. He has a huge fear of the dentist, and despite many conversations, me booking appointments for him (that get cancelled) etc, nothing changes. I've even told him how scared it makes me for his health, because I know dental problems can lead to more. On top of that, it kills our intimacy. Sometimes I can barely stand to be near him when he's talking, let alone kiss him. He's given me UTI's before from eating me out. What the hell can I even do at this point, the fight feels futile. CONCERT TICKET ETTIQUITEI'm a massive Hilary Duff fan. Three of us decided to go together, so we all entered the week-long battle trying to get seats. On the final day another friend said she’d try too and would grab tickets for herself and me if she got in. Well… she actually got through and bought them. So I had to tell the original group I already had a ticket. They were not impressed and said I went behind their backs. So here’s my question: what’s the actual concert ticket etiquette? If you say you’re going with a group, are you supposed to stick with them only, even if it means you might miss out completely? Or is it fair game during a ticket sale to try every possible option and see what comes through? MY PARENTS WANT TO HELP NAME OUR BABYMy parents want to help name our unborn baby. Am I wrong for feeling annoyed by it?? My parents are great, I live interstate from them so I don’t see them often (maybe once or twice a year). I’m 38 weeks pregnant and keep getting messages from my mum suggesting names for our baby. Is it just me or is naming your baby something special between you and your partner? I know it’s harmless coming up with suggestions for us but it’s just giving me the ick every time I see another message come through with a new baby name! I understand that living so far away, they feel like they’re missing out on a lot so I’m remaining polite but deep down it’s driving me insane! I’m mindful it could just be pregnancy hormones and I’m over reacting. DO I TELL MY FRIEND HUSBANDI just found out my best friend’s husband has been having an affair. She is completely blindsided. The thing is… I’m not surprised. And that’s what’s eating me alive. Last year, my husband and I went away with them for a weekend. At the time, my husband and I were in a really fragile place — we’d recently terminated a pregnancy and were struggling a lot. During that weekend, my best friend’s husband hit on me. Nothing huge or explicit, but enough that it was clear. I never reciprocated, I never crossed a line, and nothing happened. But if I’m brutally honest… I liked the attention. I was feeling low and disconnected in my own relationship, and it felt good to be wanted. I shut it down and we basically pretended it didn’t happen. After that weekend, I told my husband I didn’t trust him and that I thought he was the type who would cheat one day. Fast forward to now — we’ve just found out on another trip away that he’s been having an affair. She is shattered. And I feel so guilty that I didn’t warn her about the vibe I got from him a year ago. Part of me thinks: what would I even have said? “Your husband hit on me and I have a feeling he’ll cheat?” That feels messy and potentially friendship-ending. But another part of me feels like I failed her by staying quiet. Now I’m stuck wondering: Do I tell my husband (if he doesn’t already know the full extent of how it made me feel)? Do I tell my best friend what happened last year? Or is this truly none of my business and I just support her now? I never betrayed my husband. I never betrayed her. But I can’t shake the guilt. Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Brittany and I'm Laura and
this is Ask Uncut where we answer your deep, your dark and your burning questions. I have
a burning question of my own Brittany, why did you block me on Instagram? I was hoping you wouldn't
notice. Okay, hear me out. Keisha, your Instagram is playing up. So Keisha sends me a message last
night in a group chat that we're in and she's like cool just tried to send you something britney
and you've blocked me so it came up with an alert that's like you can't send this to the group
because britney needs to follow you this is the screenshot i have the proof i went to send her it
was a dog reel and i went to send it to our friend claire as well who also looks after delilah because
the reel was like very delilah coded it comes up can't add to chat you can't add britney hockley
seagrist to a chat unless they follow you i think it just glitched no because then i went onto my
page and I was like, I have not unfollowed Keisha. And it still says following. So something's
happening on your end because there's been multiple people we've thought have blocked
you recently. It feels like you're victim blaming. Not Brit. Keisha, you should hear
the thing she says about you behind your back. No, same to her face. But no, recently we've
been like, why so many, remember we've had this conversation where we're like, why are
so many people blocking you? What have you done? I think your Instagram is glitching
and otherwise there's heaps of people blocking you. Yeah. Otherwise I'm just offending heaps
of people and I've got no idea why, but it did feel particularly personal coming from
you well look we do have a lot of questions to answer on today's episode and we may never get
to the bottom of why britney blocked keisha but here we are vibes unsubscribes brit what's your
vibe for the week i have such an epic vibe this week this was from elifa so elifa messaged me
and said hey i know you're going away you're traveling a lot it's a small business i have
made like the ultimate travel bag for carry on and i was like yeah i go away all the time great
every time I go to the airport I get over like you know how you can only have seven kilos of
luggage like you take your laptop and it's four kilos you take a hard case bag and it weighs three
kilos and you're done you've got one pair of undies to wear for the week so it's called the
weekender and I don't know what it's made out of the lightest material ever seen and it comes
it comes in the shape of a pencil case right it gets delivered to you in the shape of a small
pencil case it's so small and when I got it I thought my god this is not going to fit anything
in it it folds out to a full-size travel bag with so many pockets extenders to like give you more
length but it weighs next to nothing and I can get extra bang for your buck with the kilos it's
so good it is so good so I took it up for my first trial to the Gold Coast last weekend and it's
amazing it's just a really good lightweight bag that also folds up it's impossible to see what
it folds up to you like how is that going to fit anything in it but it means when you're at home
and if you don't have a lot of room, you can also just throw it
in a little cupboard, roll it into this little ball.
That's it.
Yeah, Keisha's just brought it up.
What's the name of it again?
The Weekender.
The Weekender.
Love this.
It was really good.
So if you're somebody – because flying is so expensive now
and if you try and check luggage in or if you go over one kilo
with your carry-on, it just adds up.
So this is designed by a lifer.
It's a lifer, yeah.
Oh, I love that.
It's really cool, yeah.
All right, lifers supporting lifers.
What's your vibe for the week list?
My vibe is a doco that it came out last year
but it's being pushed heavily on Netflix at the moment
because it's up for an Oscar.
It's called The Perfect Neighbour and it is and was directed
by a woman named Geeta Ganbar.
Now, this is such an interesting doco.
If you haven't seen it, the reason why I think it's quite fascinating
is because it's been comprised all of body cam footage.
So almost the entire documentary is following the police officers
and the body cam footage that they have been able
to record what's happened.
I don't want to give too much away, but it circles a lot
around racial discrimination and what happens in this one neighborhood where this one neighbor,
she is a white woman, how she responds to the black kids in the neighborhood. And it's a big
dispute around trespassing, but it culminates in a very, trying not to give away anything that's
like a spoiler. It culminates in a story that really brings into question how black people
are treated and rules and legislation that's in place in America that is in favor of white people.
there's this law which is called the stand your ground law which basically means that you can
shoot someone on sight of your property without really knowing why they're there if you feel
under threat and so like that will give you a bit of an explanation but anyway it's really really
fascinating i've seen it i loved it i loved it and what i loved about it so much not just because
it highlights the dynamics within suburban like the racial dynamics within suburban america
what it highlights is actually how kind and caring some of these police officers were like it's not
being done with an agenda to try and make the police officers seem like they're anything other
than what they were the way they handled the children the way they handled the black families
the way they addressed the woman who was the person who was causing most of the issues in
the neighborhood I just thought it was handled with so much care and every time they spoke I
was like they are great police officers and there's plenty of bad police officers there's
plenty of bloody good ones too. Totally. And I think we hear so much about the bad ones that
comes out of the States mostly, but anyway, it's a fascinating doco. I loved how it was put together
at the start. I felt like I was getting a bit seasickness because you're watching this body
cam footage. It's very like Blair Witch. It was like a first of its time Blair Witch. But you
definitely settle into it. And I think in terms of how a director and an editor has pieced together
this, to be able to create the storyline just off body cam footage is really remarkable. And
the storyline and the videos all make complete sense they follow and flow in a really beautifully
chronological way so you do understand the story but I just thought it was really fascinating and
very well done and it's a case that probably isn't one of the biggest crime cases in the states
but it is and should be a case that gets a lot of attention so I yeah I loved it so it's called
the perfect neighbor and it is on Netflix amazing my vibe this week is because I'm actually bringing
this to the table because I was asked it three separate times in the Facebook group this week,
which I thought was like a very specific thing to be asked about. So I wanted to share it.
Were people asking what you did to me to block you?
I didn't pretty block you. I've just noticed. So it is actually a sunrise alarm clock. So the
specific one I have, I actually got it from the Iconic. It is called the Lexon Mina Sunrise Alarm
Clock. I got it in bronze. Do you guys know what a sunrise alarm clock is?
No, but this is Keisha back in her sleep era. I only know about it from you.
Yes. Okay. So sunrise alarm clocks, the whole idea behind it is that you don't have your phone
charging next to your bed so that you're not tempted to like look at notifications just before
you go to sleep. And it's that whole, like you're meant to give yourself a time period before going
to sleep and the sunrise alarm clock, you set it in a specific way so that half an hour beforehand,
it will start to light up. So it's meant to imitate the sun coming up and it's meant to
gradually bring you out of sleep in like a natural way and then you can also have sound as well so
it will actually alarm at like whatever time you really need to get up so I bought this one I
actually got it on sale so if it's not on sale maybe wait a little bit and you can get I think
I got it like 30 or 40 percent off it retails for 130 bucks which is a fair bit for a clock but if
you can get on sale it's a bit better but does it wake you up actually Keish or because I feel like
even with the sun slowly rising I would still want to be putting an alarm on yeah yeah because it's
got the sound as well. So you have the half an hour beforehand, it will get lighter. And then
you can set a time that the actual sound will, like you can pick between six different sounds
to actually go off and wake you up. I like the premise of this. The only thing is I think it
would cause me anxiety if I woke up to the rising light, but the alarm didn't go off yet. I'd be
like, fuck you. I had 20 minutes left. I had half an hour of sleep and now I'm awake and I won't go
back to sleep. And now I'm punishing myself because I could, and I could have had another
30 minute nap. Do you know the kind of, there's all these, well, sorry, we will get back to the
clock now we're segwaying on sleep, but like there's so many, there's a few different kinds
of people, right? There is the one snoozer. There are the 25 snoozers, like every five minutes,
or there are the people, the category that I'm in, which is I will sleep to the minute I have
one alarm. So if I have to get up at seven, I will set it at six 59. It goes beep. And I wake
up my eyes are open hit stop and I'm up same like I am up in 10 seconds that is me that is absolutely
me completely especially it never used to be I used to be a real snoozer can't do that anymore
and so now I set one alarm it goes off and because I don't want to wake anyone else I'm like
fucking get off yeah I just think like don't why I wake up before you have to wake up Keisha's like
well fuck you all because my vibe Keisha's like well some other things I love about my alarm clock
is that it actually has six different color settings so at night time apparently there's
a little and i haven't fully looked into the research this so this could be a bit woo woo
uh apparently if you have red light it helps with like melatonin production so half an hour
beforehand it also has a sunset feature so you hold it down and it will be this like bright kind
of warm light and then over the half an hour it dulls to a really like a deep red and then it
turns off and that's meant to help you actually get into a sleepful state. I think it's a great
idea because I do, like having said that I'm the kind of person that wants to just wake up and get
up. I do love if I'm on holiday and I don't have to get up for something, I don't set an alarm and
I am woken up by the sun. I love that. What I will say is I did have another sleepover at Keisha's
this week and I had to rethink to myself when I went to the bathroom at night, I was like, man,
these little motion detector lights are very good. Every time I come over now, I'm like,
they are that was a very good vibe yes they are the best and actually since I vibed that I've
upgraded I got USB rechargeable ones instead of batteries because I got sick of having to
replace the batteries they're fantastic so also another light that I've vibed before but
yeah so Lex on sunrise clock is my vibe this week let's get into your questions good one
question one not gonna lie this one makes me feel quite unwell my partner of a decade has
terrible dental hygiene. Always has. But when he lived at home during our early years of dating,
his mum would nag him about it so it wasn't as bad. He has a huge fear of the dentist and despite
many conversations, me booking appointments for him that always get cancelled, nothing changes.
I've even told him how scared it makes me for his health because I know dental problems can
lead to more. On top of that, it kills our intimacy. Sometimes I can barely stand to be
near him when he's talking that's how bad it is let alone kiss him he's even given me utis before
from going down on me is that the thing sometimes we have to say correlation and causation could be
different i know what i don't know if you can give someone i don't know either can you google
bacteria i guess it is if there's if there is mold and mushrooms growing in his mouth
she actually said he gives me utis from eating me out but i said going down
what the hell can i even do at this point the fight feels futile oh makes you unwell doesn't it
to be fair like i understand that some people have dental aversions and like dental fears
and going to the dentist is like a very very real thing however if it has your teeth is not yeah
however there is other hygiene that he can be maintaining at home where even if he's not going
to the dentist frequently, he should still not be at this point.
Do you know what I mean?
Like if he's taking care of his personal hygiene,
he should not be at that point of unable to.
This is, okay, it's tricky.
It's tricky because I don't want to shame anyone.
No, you can for this.
If you are not brushing your teeth, flossing,
if your partner can't be in a vicinity of metres within you
because it's so bad, you have to investigate that.
Like I don't care if you're scared of the fucking dentist.
I don't.
I know.
but you okay you know that he's not scared enough that he can't go because he's obviously been when
his mom nagged him enough he would go there are a couple of other things here that have to be
identified just in case often and I and I'm only saying I'm not saying that I actually think that
that's what's at play here but I'm only saying them to like cover all basis sometimes when people
pay very a little attention to their personal hygiene it can be related to depression it can
be related to other mental health states right like that is a possibility is that giving him
too much of a green card maybe but it would be remiss of us to be just be here being like he's
disgusting when potentially there's something else going on you need to get to the bottom of that
first and if that is not the case and if you can absolutely say he's not depressed there's nothing
wrong with him he's always gone to the gym he's got good hygiene in every other sense and respect
but his dental hygiene is absolutely revolting then you have to have an honest conversation with
this guy you cannot continue to force yourself to kiss someone or to be intimate with someone
if they simply don't care but it's also I'm 99% of the time I'm with you and of course like yes
let's cover all bases that's such a stretch she's been with him a decade and he's been like this
since day one it's not because he's in a lull and doesn't want to brush his teeth he just doesn't
care enough about it but I also think like I wonder what conversations you've had with him
because you said I brought up with him that I'm concerned about his health and because it can lead
to other stuff which it absolutely can but have you ever called a spade a spade and said it's
really hard for me to i don't want to kiss you and i don't want to because you literally say i
don't want to kiss him i can't talk to him i don't know if you can give a uti but you've said he gives
me utis from eating me out i actually did google that and just to clarify google ai says it is
highly unlikely to get a uti directly from another person's poor dental hygiene as utis are not
contagious infections however while untreated severe gum disease can release bacteria into
the bloodstream that might theoretically affect other body areas.
Yeah.
So chances are it's probably not from that, but there is obviously a small chance that
it is.
I mean, if it is based off what ChatGPT just told us, that means the dental hygiene is
extremely bad and it's gone into gum disease territory.
I wonder if he's got gum disease where he's got like halitosis, where he's got like, some
people have tonsil stones, you know, and they don't even know that that's why, but their
breath is very bad.
Well, I think it's just the discussion.
Why do you look at me like that?
You stopped letting me be able to chew gum in here.
I didn't.
Now I just have to have coffee breath every morning.
We all do.
I didn't.
Actually, everyone in this room has lovely breath.
Thank you.
I use a tongue scraper.
I've also vibed that.
Can I just add, over the summer I had a friend stay with me
and her boyfriend is British.
And this kind of conversation came up because I'm a bit obsessed
with teeth and with mouth.
Like I like to have, I brush my teeth three times a day.
and so we had this conversation because I was brushing the dog's teeth and she joked and said
oh you know my boyfriend doesn't actually brush his teeth every day and my initial reaction was
really judgmental I was like oh damn it really affected me and she explained to me she's like
look I know it's it's something that like it's taken me a little while to kind of get used to
but he just wasn't brought up in the same way as us you know he was not brought up that that was a
priority and a part of me was like okay well maybe there are factors to this where it like it depends
on how you were raised yeah but you're still not you're still educated enough you know you brush
your teeth twice a day even if you weren't brought up like that as an adult you know I mean we all
agree I agree but however I just want to go back to this question his mum would nag him so much to
go to the dentist his mum was the one booking like there does come a point he is a grown man
he shouldn't just be doing things for his own personal hygiene because other women in his life
and nagging him to do so.
I understand and I really do want to say I get that it's a big fear of his,
but he can floss his teeth.
Totally.
He can brush his teeth.
And I do think that there comes a point where you have
to have an honest conversation, even if that's very uncomfortable.
And if he's not going to do it for his own health, fine.
Hopefully he will do it because he cares about your level
of attraction to him in the relationship.
It's my, like, I have a proper fear because often,
this is what I would say in his defense, right?
slight slight defense you often if you have bad breath you often can't smell it I have a huge
insecurity not an insecurity a fear of having bad breath like when I'm talking to somebody and
somebody not telling me it won't offend me if I'm talking to because I know I have good dental
hygiene so if I have bad breath it's because I've either eaten something that's like garlic or onion
or something that's repeating on me but I would want to know and so I've always said to Ben if I
have bad breath for some reason tell me because I just the idea of having it and somebody being
and not knowing and somebody being like oh my god she's coming near me I'm like just tell me and
I'll go and brush my teeth or something but like that if there's a chance that he doesn't know how
bad it is that it's actually revolting you and making you not want to be around him you are a
decade deep like you can have that conversation you can be like babe this is getting out of
control like you need to do something about it can you smell it like that's not going to offend
him if he knows he's got poor hygiene it's not going to be shocking that his breath smells when
he doesn't brush his teeth and hasn't gone to the dentist in 20 years and yeah but I don't know
the thing is you tell Matt 10 years 100% yeah he might just not care and he might be someone
who has a really low baseline for his personal hygiene and maintenance that's what it might be
And as much as you might nag him to do something, if he's showing that he doesn't care, then
it's really hard to get someone to do the things that you want them to do.
So, I mean, you asked, it feels like a futile fight.
It might be, it might be, you cannot make a grown man take care of his oral hygiene
if he doesn't want to.
This might sound extreme.
I don't think I could be with somebody that if it was that bad that I can't be in a vicinity
to talk to them.
Like, if it is permeating metres across when he opens his mouth,
I couldn't be with someone like that.
I agree.
It is actually, like, makes me feel unwell.
Unless it was a reason.
Yes, no.
That was out of their control.
Yeah, 100%.
But if it's because they're like, fuck you, I'm not brushing my teeth,
I'd be like, well, I'll be with someone that does brush their teeth.
Like, that's what I would do.
All right.
That's a standard I've set for myself.
Yeah.
I mean, this could be making it, like, it's a little bit infantising,
but could it be something that he hates, like,
the minty flavour and smell like Laura does?
Like there are toothpastes that come in other flavors though.
Maybe you could attempt to like.
I don't think that's it.
I don't know.
Make it a bit nice.
It's not her job to get behemoth fruities.
We're being diplomatic.
But I'm trying to think of solutions to the problem that are not just leave your partner
of 10 years because he's breath stinks.
Even though I understand how you've gotten to that point.
We're definitely not saying leave.
The answer is not leave.
I just want to know if you've had the honest conversation about why, or if you're, if you
feel like you can't say it because you don't want to hurt his feelings.
So you're taking the, like, I'm worried about the future health if you're taking that angle.
Like, I just want to know how much transparency there's been, I guess, because that changes
the outcome.
I agree.
All right.
Next question.
Concert etiquette.
I'm a massive Hilary Duff fan.
Three of us decided to go together.
So we all entered the week long battle trying to get seats.
Oh, it's been, it has been a battle.
We've all been trying.
I know we all missed out.
If anyone's got some tickets that they want to resell to us, we're here.
on the final day another friend said she tried too and she grabbed tickets for herself and me
if she got in well she actually got through and she bought them so i had to tell the original
group that i already had a ticket they were not impressed and said i went behind their backs
so here's my question what is the actual concert ticket etiquette if you say you're going with a
group are you supposed to only stick with that group even if it means that you might miss out
completely or is it fair game during a ticket sale to try every possible option and see what
comes through no this is this is so silly you're not in the wrong the hunger games this is every
man for themselves like if you can get your ticket anywhere and real friends would support that real
friends would be like if you can eat you eat you know like you go to that buffet if you can
if i don't get in that line it's like when you line up for the club and like one friend gets in
and the other friends don't it's like you got in babe like you take that you ride or die you leave
your friend at the club if they don't get in if it's yeah i was thinking of what's it called
Bergen-Hain in Germany. I'm taking a segue. This is a really fresh story in my head. There's a
really elite club in Berlin that you line up for and it is so notoriously hard to get in. And so
they will be like, yes, no, no, no, no, yes. That is the club where one of my friends got in recently
and his friends didn't. And he was like, oh, I'll come back out. And they said, absolutely not.
You're in. You have the time of your life. And he did. He went in on his own and had the time of
his life so I just think real friends are like rooting for you you know I think with this sort
of situation yes it's one thing to say that you're gonna go with a group of friends it would be
different if they got tickets as well and then you piped out on paying for that ticket if you
were like okay we're all in one person bought the three tickets paid for it and then you're like oh
actually I got tickets with someone else so I'm not gonna go with you and then they're left with
the resale of a single ticket if they didn't get tickets because they missed out and your other
friend got tickets and is taking you for me this is just a good non-event the fact that everyone's
stressed about this they just need to get over it I don't know there's wars going on guys there are
wars I kind of feel differently because if the person who's written this question in was also
trying to get tickets how many tickets was that person trying to get were you prioritizing one
group of friends over the other like because you know you go in it's like you go in as a team you're
going in as a team it's not very good teamwork to kind of be like actually I've kind of got this
other offer as well and that one ended up coming through so like sorry guys I'm going I'll send
you Instagram stories I think it's one of those things where it's like if they all come through
you end up being like to the person who jumped on on the last day you say look actually I said yes
to these people already I've got a ticket over here I'll sell that one for you you know or like
you can give it to a friend and they can pay me for it but it's also you then bear the responsibility
of paying for all of the, if you've said yes to four people and those four people have
gone out and everyone's gotten a ticket, you bear the financial responsibility of paying
for those four tickets.
Oh no, I completely agree with that.
That's not what I'm asking.
I'm saying like, if everybody was trying, everyone was in the queue, right?
And this happened with Taylor Swift as well.
I feel like this would have happened thousands of times for Taylor Swift.
And you've said to like six different people that you're going to try and get tickets.
You're smart.
Say two on one side, four on the other.
are you attempting to get seven tickets or are you prioritizing one group over the other I think
yeah I think we're getting into nitty-gritty at the end of the day I think it's a good question
no you were the one that said it wasn't a good question you're like this is easy it's actually
so interesting at the end of the day when it is something like this right and you know that
they're so hard to get you just try and get one you don't really care and this situation is yes
she was trying to get it with there were three of them trying to get it but the person that got her
a ticket and offer her the ticket is a different friend group so it's just somebody else coming in
saying hey I managed to get a ticket do you want to come that person's not going to say I can't
because I missed out with this friend group like you're always going to take that opportunity
and I think if your friends are upset about it it's and I don't say this in a negative way
they're probably just jealous and upset that they didn't get a ticket and that would hurt because
you're like fuck we tried so hard and now you're going I don't think it's personal and they're
going to break the friendship but they're probably like man I really wanted to go to that I think you
needed to lie. I think you needed to say, guys, I'm so devastated that we all missed out. This
other friend group that I have, they actually bought a ticket for someone else who now can't
go. And so they've offered it to me. I don't think you can be like, I actually hedged my
bets with multiple groups and one of them came through and you guys didn't. I think unfortunately
that's what she did. I think there was maybe too much honesty at play here. Lie. We often say on
this podcast, the best way out of a situation is just to lie about it. So don't communicate and
lie and then it will be fine she said look guys it was the last she's like it was the last day of
ticket sales my friend said hey I'll give it a crack and she got through that's devastating you
guys have been online for a week she got the ticket but it's okay for you to take it don't
feel bad that's my stance if you guys came at me because we all tried to get Taylor Swift tickets
couldn't get them and then another friend from another group was like hey Britta got a ticket
if you were upset at me for then going I think that says more about the friendship yeah that's
why I said that the question was a bit childish, but I get it. But then two seconds ago, you just
said you're into it again. No, I said Keisha's question was a good question, not the original
question. Oh, I think this question's a great question. Laura, I think it's a question about
loyalty. It's like the time I took Keisha to every concert and she got a ticket to a concert once and
didn't take me. I was like, oh. I know, but Brittany's never stopped. Never stopped being
mad about that. Sorry, it was Lady Gaga and I had been in the queue trying to get tickets with these
other two friends of mine who were gay who really wanted to go because Gaga is for the gays okay
anyway we were trying to buy tickets and we weren't able to and then we were able to get
some through work through my work through my work too no my boss no you're employed by us
I worked at this company for eight years how long ago Keisha she hates that I'm right it does about
anyway Gaga was great I hope she was I've made up for it by getting you a ticket to Hillary okay
Wait, do I have a ticket to Hilary?
No, I bought them.
You're taking her to Hilary Duff and not me.
I could only get two.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Hang on.
What did I say?
I said give it to Laura because she's going to get angry.
I already gave it.
Do you know how she knows?
It was.
You ignored it.
It was in the group chat.
Do you know how she knows?
Yes, also website and group text about this, which is hilarious.
It was in the group text.
You just ignore them.
And I actually explained.
But the only reason Brittany knows, I was going to surprise you,
but I put it in our joint calendar for October
because I knew I would forget and I didn't know
that you had notifications on.
So I get this text in our group chat from Britt going,
how the fuck did you get Hillary tickets?
See, why are we trying to get them through work?
We're trying everything, yeah.
Because they'll be better.
These ones are just like these are your stock standard
whatever you get.
Guys, I'm just going to have to go on like Trivago
and buy myself some whatever, Vivigo or whatever
that stupid site's called.
It's a full scam.
I would like it on record that the first thing I said was,
Laura will be mad.
Give it to her.
And I sacrificed my ticket.
I would never take it.
But I'm glad you thought of me.
It was the lack of thinking of me that hurts, guys.
So I appreciate that.
So basically she tried to get three.
Two came through.
Then she's like, oh, I'll give it to you as a birthday present.
And I was like, Laura will be upset.
And she loves Hillary.
So give it to Laura.
This all transpired in that text, Laura.
You just haven't read them.
Yeah, she just doesn't read them.
So Laura's like so shocked.
She's like, how did I not know?
we're like just because you don't open the text i laura's left the group chat again all of a sudden
not such a stupid question um okay okay just so you guys know we all really wanted to go to hillary
duff too so we get it we get it i also have filmed a hillary duff dance video in hopes that she would
see it and invite us but i think that's going live tonight okay next question all right i need advice
because i feel sick over this i just found out that my best friend's husband has been having an
affair she is completely blindsided the thing is i am not surprised and that's what's eating me
alive last year my husband and i went away with them for a weekend at the time my husband and i
were in a really fragile place we'd recently terminated a pregnancy and were struggling a lot
during that weekend my best friend's husband hit on me oh nothing huge nothing explicit but enough
that it was clear i never reciprocated i never crossed the line nothing happened but also
So obviously enough for you to have said so blatantly like he hit on me.
It's enough for you to know.
But if I'm brutally honest, I did like the attention.
Oh, I did not see that one coming.
I know.
And then she's like, so we fucked.
No, nothing happened.
Is there a reason that this person's not surprised because the affair was with her?
No, she said nothing happened.
I was feeling really low and disconnected in my own relationship and it did feel good to be wanted.
I shut it down and we all pretended like it didn't happen.
after that weekend though I told my husband that I didn't trust him and that I thought he was the
type who would cheat one day fast forward to now we've just found out on another trip away that
he's been having an affair she is shattered and I feel so guilty that I didn't warn her about the
vibe I got from him a year ago part of me does things what would I have even said if I'd had
the opportunity telling her your husband hit on me and I have a feeling that he's going to cheat
on you that all feels very messy and potentially friendship ending but another part of me feels
like i have failed her by staying quiet now i am stuck wondering do i tell my husband if he doesn't
already know the full extent of how it made me feel do i tell my friend what happened last year
or is this truly none of my business and i just show up and support her now i would like it to
be known that i did not betray my husband and i have not betrayed her but i can't shake the guilt
this is multi-layered so basically he hit on her she didn't say anything because she lacked the
attention but she knew it was wrong so she shut it down and never spoke about it well I think she
didn't say anything because she liked the attention she didn't say anything because she didn't want to
blow up all these relationships and nothing actually happened but she was flattered by the
attention which is kind of you know what we get it we get it we get it I love it when someone
hits on me every time Matt hit and Tobin hit on me it's like I still got it no it's pretty clear
cut from what you've said that it was you know he hit on you so it's not like you walked away being
like am I imagining that like what's that you know because sometimes you're like did I imagine
that look or that vibe or that comment meant more than it did but you've walked away saying he hit
on me but I kind of liked it but didn't want to blow it up so you know he did it the first question
is to you to Laura and Keish in that situation if nothing happened but you know it wasn't an
appropriate line do you tell your friend in that moment because there's a lot that can unfold from
it could be blow up your friendship because a lot of times if nothing's ever happened in a
relationship before people very easily will take their husband's side and be like he's not going
to do that you're lying you're imagining it whatever but then it's also could blow up their
relationship at simultaneously so there's a part of me that understands maybe why you're like oh
let's just pretend it didn't happen and I'll see if anything else unfolds do you think you would
have told in that time it's a really challenging one only because it depends on what constitutes
hitting on you and I say this because we've had this debate before around other questions that
have been similar I guess but the thing is is like you may question your interpretation of an
experience someone might do something and your whole body is like okay this is not appropriate
he's hitting on me this is you know that like he's standing too close he's making like an event
whatever it is and then that time and that period passes and afterwards you're like was I overreacting
like was he doing that because you question yourself right because if the behavior goes
back to normal straight away you're like was that exchange something that I'm overreacting about and
I think that's what I would do I would probably unless he tried to kiss me or something like that
I would probably question was I reading into the behavior yeah too much and am I then jeopardizing
the friendship by going and saying something straight away of like because unless you're
certain I don't think you can say it so you've got to be fucking certain I think the added layer
to this is the fact that you kind of got a bit of enjoyment from it which and I can imagine how
like I can put myself in that situation you would feel flattered and you were obviously in a really
bad time yourself but I might even have the ability to gaslight myself and be like did I
contribute to them like was I also flirting because I kind of enjoyed being hit on so was
I contributing to this and if I go to the friend and say this firstly I've got to admit the fact
that I liked the fact I was being hit on by their partner. You don't have to admit that. No but the
thing is is if you had exhibited any behavior that had welcomed that type of attention you're
complicit in this conversation and i'm not saying that he wouldn't do it regardless but what i'm
saying is like you can't set up a situation and then be like he's the problem do you mean you
actually have to admit that you're also the problem yeah but i do want to just reread this
to you guys so it's in your head fresh so the first thing is she said i liked the attention
but I never reciprocated and I shut it down so she's she's not saying that she did anything
wrong she's just saying internally like I wasn't mad about it I liked feeling that I still had it
but I don't think she actually engaged in anything the second part is she said he hit on me nothing
huge or explicit but enough that it was clear the reason it was nothing huge or explicit is
he's putting his feelers out to see if there's something there that is the problem right people
don't just come out especially when it's his wife's best friend or his wife's really good
friend like you're not just going to come out and be like hey should we have an affair you want to
see if you're going to get anything back test the waters that's where the problem is and the more
I'm trying to think about this and unpack it if you guys were good enough friends that it was the
equivalent of our friendship in this room if Toblerone or Matt made a pass at me where I knew
it was clear I would a hundred percent tell you yeah I would a hundred percent tell you but I
would hope that our friendship was strong enough that you would know that it wouldn't be coming
from nowhere. Like I haven't fabricated, I haven't made it up. You would hope that it wouldn't blow
the friendship up. You would be going to your friends saying, I'm not trying to blow anything
up, but I would want to know. Like the problem is now it's been a year. Is it worth you going back?
Like she knows he's had an affair now. She knows it's out there. I don't know what you've got to
gain by saying to your husband or your friend, hey, by the way, a year ago he hit on me. If I
was your husband I'd be devout at that I'd be like he hit on you a year ago and you didn't tell
me like that feels like something that probably should have passed between you and your husband
a year ago I feel like it also could add to a pain point of the friend who's experienced this affair
as in like to your best friend the person who's written this thing to your if you go back to them
and you're like actually a year ago I spotted a major red flag that I didn't tell you about but
just so you know he's actually been shady for a while yeah I could have stopped it like I could
think that that could actually upset them more and I just don't know what I don't know what the
point of telling them that would be other than to make yourself feel as though you'd been a little
bit more transparent I think if it is for me in this situation I wouldn't be doing anything I
would just be supporting the friend through you know what they're going through at the moment
yeah and I the only thing I would add to that and it's literally in terms of what you say Keish it's
like are you doing this because of the guilt like would you be telling her because of the guilt you
feel or are you giving her this information because it's going to help her in any sort of
recovery decision making healing whatever that looks like and I think once you've realized or
figured out what side that information sits on like is it helpful to her is it actually part
of this healing process or is it just because I want to absolve myself of the guilt that gives
you your answer as to what you should do here and I if I was in this situation now I don't think I
would be having that conversation because I don't think it is relevant to where they're at I would
100% just be, so three questions. Do I tell my husband? I don't think there's a point to tell
him now a year later. Do I tell my best friend what happened last year? Again, I don't think
there's a point right now. Is it none of my business and I just support her? Yes, you just
support her. Where I think this changes for me is if you know he's a bad egg, like in hindsight now,
you know that, okay, that was definitely more than just a flirty pass. If the affair is really quite
horrific. It wasn't a one-off. It was ongoing. If your friend decides to forgive him and get
back with him and work it out, that's when I'd be having another conversation. And I think I'd
just be really careful with how I say that. I wouldn't say, hey, I've kept this from you for
a year. I would phrase it differently. The way that I would phrase it is, hey, I've been thinking
since this information came out, it's made me look at a few things differently. There are a few
moments that at the time I thought were nothing but now with this lens knowing the other stuff
I do think looking back it was probably inappropriate and I think you can frame it in
like you didn't think it was what it was at the time but once you get more information a story
changes right like once you have more information added to something a situation's different a
hundred percent it's like on a standalone something could be taken either way but when more people come
out saying oh me too this happened to me something has more truth yeah I completely agree with you
like 100 i think the only reason to bring it up is if she's going to return to him and you know
that this is not just like a once-off slip-up it's actually a pattern of behavior that's existed for
a while dude it's so like when we just think about this for a second it's so fucked cheating's one
thing right but it's so ballsy and so cooked to try and do it with your partner's best friend
i reckon that that's why they actually do it i think that they are the type of people who get
off on like the um kind of like the risk yes exactly I also think not just risk but if you
comply like as the best friend if you comply that secret is never going to come out do you know I
mean because if you were a complicit friend in this affair you're not wanting that person to
know either like it's almost if it works it's like the perfect crime we were um reading an article
recently we were going to unpack it but we decided not to but it was literally a woman that's been
having an affair for 20 years and she's like this is my checklist if you want to have an affair
and not get caught and one of the seven checklists was make sure whoever you have an affair with is
also in a dedicated relationship that they have a family that they've got something to lose she's
like because they're not blowing up the relationship she's like it's the people when you're going out
and they're free and single then they develop feelings and and I'm not saying we weren't going
to talk about it because we're giving you guys tips on how to cheat we just thought the whole
article was pretty cooked but it's true like if you I don't know about making it with a best friend
I think there's 100% something in it like choosing someone that also has something to lose but the
best friend thing that just adds a whole nother level of spice on it I think if you look at this
from like a narcissistic lens that's a bigger achievement for them to have been able to get
the best friend to betray their best friend that's like a bigger high for them in terms of being able
to like manipulate that person and you know what i mean like i i think that if you get into the
psychology of it it's particularly fucked and maybe that's what you kind of need to speak about
with your friend if they do decide that they want to go back to this person i just think like you
guys would 100 also want to know if ben was he like yeah if matt was hitting on me you'd want
to know if matt was hitting on kids you'd want to know same with tobin like you would but it's true
like it's it's such a betrayal it's just that you don't know i think that information alone
is really hard to believe if a friend comes to you with that but once it's coupled with other
affairs he's had you're more likely to believe your friend that's what i think this guy's bad
all right give us that aftermath though last question my parents want to help name our unborn
baby am i wrong for feeling super annoyed by this my parents are great i live interstate from them
so i don't see them often maybe once or twice a year i'm 38 weeks pregnant and keep getting
messages from my mom suggesting names for our baby. Is it just me or is naming your baby something
very special between you and your partner? I know it's harmless coming up with suggestions but for
us it's just giving me the ick. Every time I see another message pop up with her name on it I know
it's going to be a new baby name. I understand that living so far away they feel like they're
missing out on a lot so I am remaining polite but deep down it's driving me fucking insane.
I'm mindful it could just be pregnancy hormones and I'm overreacting I love the podcast and I
would love your guys opinion if it doesn't get answered that's okay I don't think she's trying
to name the baby I think she's just trying to be involved and she wants to show that she's
thinking about it and she's excited about it and you know and if you haven't chosen a name yet she
thinks she's being helpful which I understand is not necessarily helpful I remember when I came in
here and you guys were trying to give me baby names and I was like you asked us shut me the
fucked down I didn't ask you what happened was I came in and said I'm finding it really hard to
find a baby name yeah we read between ones and so then then for help you guys got onto the baby
name list and started parroting out all the baby names and I was like thank you this is I thought
it was a gay you were like I was like this is truly unhelpful because every list you're looking
at I've already read so I understand where the frustration I was just more honest but also sorry
any friend group of course if Laura comes in and she goes we cannot agree on anything we've
exhausted every baby names we don't know what to do imagine if we were like that sucks
of course of course and that's kind of probably where she's come from right like it's a normal
reaction if you're like oh I haven't chosen a name yet well I think I first pulled up my list
and said look I haven't had a baby don't know when it's coming but it can't be one of these
four and then I helped you I was like the reason why I think if you're in it it feels frustrating
and i'm saying this as someone who's experienced it recently is because if you haven't decided
or you're not sure it doesn't mean you haven't gone through 3 000 names to get to a place of
being unsure so when someone's like what about the name hazel or what about the name this you're like
thank you thank you for suggesting it i've already seen it it's already a veto so you're going through
the same process that you've of elimination that you've already done before and so i can understand
why it's irritating what if they come up with some creativity in a name you've never heard like
we we gave you some bangers like what laniqua acacia i can't remember what i what i do want
to say is though is a really easy way around this is just to pick a name and say to your parents
we've chosen the name even if it hasn't you can change it later just say we're calling her poppy
and your mom will go oh my god great poppy or she'll say it or whatever but then she'll stop
sending you names or maybe you can do that thing where people say we've chosen a name but we're
not sharing it until the baby's here oh that'll fuck that mom off you're only 38 weeks I mean
sorry you're already 38 weeks so you don't have much time to use that one I think probably had
the baby this week I think the issue is here is if you've told your mom the name and she's still
doing it because it means she doesn't like it and she's desperately trying to find you an alternative
my mum has done that in the past to some of my siblings and it's not like but it's so funny but
it's more like it's it's more just like other suggestions because they might not be their top
name like my mum and dad love all of my nieces and nephews names but like if it's not your if
you've if they also like grandparents want to be involved in their kids decisions and their kids
big life moments like most people do I would just take this as a sign that she's really interested
imagine if she didn't want to be involved at all you would feel really upset too
I can't comment on if it's the hormones or not I've never experienced it the problem for me is
if you have said we're gonna call her Arabella and then your mom is every day sending you other
names I'd be off that because I'd be like you obviously don't like it mom I've made the decision
back off but if she's yeah if she's just throwing them out there to help you just don't even read
the message or just give it a love heart like just like do the bare minimum to keep engaged with her
and then just call the kid whatever you want but it is it is overwhelming when you can't decide on
something it's it's a very specific feeling when you cannot decide on something and people are
trying to help you but it's not helpful like you have to do the admin for the help do you know I
mean so if you're already in a state of overwhelm and then it's like what about this what about this
what about this and and then now you're overwhelmed but you have to do the admin for all the things
that are being thrown at you that are helpful that can also be really paralyzing and I say this
because even from like a 40th birthday perspective recently I was like to try and organize my 40th
birthday people were like what about this idea or what about this or what about that and everything
is helpful but if you're in that already like fuck I can't make a decision feeling you just
shut down you shut down and and it really I think is something that some people serve definitely a
personality type struggle with and I think we all do that in this room they can't be open to the
help. Does that make sense? So at this point, I'm not, don't know if it's hormones or not,
but you can't be open to the suggestions because they feel deeply unhelpful. And so then you're
left with doing the admin of saying no and having this same conversation on repeat. So yeah,
understand why you're frustrated, but it's a harmless thing to be frustrated about in the
grand scheme of things. And it's something that is easily resolved. If you're like, Hey mom,
love you, but I need a break from the baby names. Like, you know, don't send me any for a while
because I'm feeling overwhelmed that's it do you know what though and to give a little bit of like
playing devil's advocate your parents live interstate and maybe this is just a way that
they are trying to connect with you during the pregnancy because they can't be there physically
like totally they might be seeing it from a really different perspective and she might be thinking
that this is a way that you know she can be helpful and that she can try and be a part of
the pregnancy journey and I mean in her mind she's probably like if they pick a name I suggest then
like I'll have been the person who picked it. You know, I don't think she's trying to be annoying
or malicious or like overpowering. I think she's just maybe trying to be involved.
And also it's very rare. Like it's very common to think you don't like a name that your friends
are using or a family member's using. It's really common to be like, oh, not for me. Don't like that
name. And then when the child comes, you can't see it as anything else. And you, and you love it.
I remember thinking that I have a niece who's 10 or 11 now, Pixie, her name is. And if you
think back to 10 or 11 years ago pixie was not a common name and i remember when my brother and
sister-in-law said welcome to the world pixie i remember being like pixie i was like that's such
a strange name like that poor kid kind of thing because i hadn't heard the only pixie was pixie
geldof remember do you know pixie geldof laura doesn't she's not even no no she is yeah and then
the second i saw her she's not nothing else but pixie and i'm obsessed with the name and i'm
obsessed with her and i think that's something that maybe it's a generational thing as well so
maybe the names you've thrown out to your mom they don't resonate with yeah she's coming back
with like ruth and beryl totally my grandparents like you gotta be like ah it doesn't really fit
the modern times often it's like my other nephew bear my mom originally was like bear i haven't
heard that that's an unusual name and now bears he's just bearsie and he's like and it's it is
you realize it's a common name but it's also a generational thing right like when you're in your
60s and 70s there weren't really bears totally but it also adds to how unhelpful it is if you're
totally on different pages and like your mum's sending through names that you wouldn't even
remotely consider and you're having to then field the admin of that every day like I get why it's
annoying but I think in the grand scheme of things that are annoying in life it's far better to have
a parent who wants to be involved and who like wants to be a proactive grandparent than someone
who does not give a shit they just give it a little love heart like that's what you need to do
Or be like, I'll think about it.
Think about it.
Just start thumbs downing every name.
Like the king.
I feel like that could be passive aggressive.
I really want to remember.
I feel like you guys had some like very alternate names.
You were like unusual names for 2026 I think was the list that you went to.
But that's because you also said to us, I think you were pretty up front
and said like, fuck off, I'm exhausted, I'm done.
I've looked at every name.
And we were like, let's go unusual.
So we actually Googled unusual.
That's true.
And then you were like throwing names at you.
And I was like, no, I mean, seriously, I'm fuck off.
I'm really done.
No, I remember I put your existing child's names into,
I think it was like one of the AIs.
And I was like, these are the two existing daughters.
She's having another daughter.
List some names that are in this same family of names.
And then you said, shut the fuck up, Keisha.
Terrible suggestion.
She pulled our microphones out.
She was like, we're done.
I think I was like, the thought of choosing my name through AI
feels deeply unsentimental.
and even that felt unhelpful.
I was like, I want Matt and I to have this conversation
for us to spontaneously be like, oh, that's the name
and have a moment.
I was like, so stop ruining names in case that name comes up.
Yeah, I also think, I was about to say something similar,
I imagine that you do not want your friends
to have named your child because forever you don't want them
to be like, oh, that was the name I chose.
Like I chose that.
You don't want it to, you want that moment with you
and you want to be like I came up with it because of this Matt and I had this conversation like you
don't want to be like oh yeah we brainstormed with at work with AI and my podcast host and
they named my child I think you nailed it I think as much as it was like already a state of
overwhelm part of me was like you guys aren't saying names because right now you're ruining
those names for me because I want to have that conversation with Matt and maybe that's how she
feels maybe we just got there maybe she is like mom every time you send a name the name is now
ruined because I don't want to take that and be like this is the name because then mom named
the baby instead of us coming up with that and that being part
of our parenting story.
And if we throw a name out.
The name's gone.
Well, it's not gone, but then, like, you don't want
that credit given to us.
It's like competition.
We were like, Laura, have you thought of Sarah?
I still have moments where I'm like, I should have called her Polly.
It was between Polly and Poppy.
Do you want my opinion?
Yeah.
No.
Oh, I like Polly.
Poppy was the right choice.
We've just offended every Polly.
No, but Poppy's, to confirm Laura's choice, was right.
I think Poppy was the right choice.
I think of Polly Pocket.
Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick.
So she called for the doctor to come quick, quick, quick.
The doctor came with his bag and his hat.
He said and knocked on the door with a rat-a-tat-tat.
All right, let's get out of here.
With that, hey, can we have an aftermath for that this week?
Can we know what you ended up calling your kid
and also whether your mum actually came up with the name or not?
There's also more polls in that.
We've got so many polls.
