Starting point is 00:00:00 Life Uncut acknowledges the traditional custodians of country whose lands were never ceded. We pay our respects to their elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. Hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Laura. I'm Brittany. And it's the morning after. the morning after the night that was the night before that was the night that we penetrated adelaide that's a good one we did penetrate adelaide we've been it's actually we're still
Starting point is 00:00:36 inside you right now it's like the morning it's like after you have a really good session and then you just cuddle when he's still inside you that's what we're doing because we're sitting here in our hotel room trying to record this after the live show holy shit it was a good night do you know what was so shocking was how many people had said thanks for coming to adelaide like thanks for not missing us out like they're always the ones that are missed out it's like the kid at school that doesn't get picked for sport that's what adelaide felt like radelaide's great why would you not pick it for sport i don't know but some pretty big people i did some research some pretty big people have come and done concerts here because like we we're at the adelaide
Starting point is 00:01:08 entertainment center which is humungo now we found out we were in like a smaller section of it but laura and i had a panic attack because i was like who has performed at the adelaide entertainment center i'm talking beyonce pink justin bieber rod stewart no no we look 50 cent ham and ham who else like one direction every big person and then it was life uncut which look it was in a different room a much smaller room we okay so we got to the hotel yesterday and i hadn't actually looked at the venue i was like adelaide entertainment center fuck that sounds big that sounds intimidating and so then i looked at photos of the internal capacity and i because it was like 50 000 i instantly shat myself and i was like i don't i was like this
Starting point is 00:01:53 is gonna one it's gonna look so empty i don't understand why we're at this venue but two like surely this is mistake like surely somebody who has organized this has made an error a grave grave error but anyway the adelaide entertainment center basically has a back hall and it was a great back hall the show was amazing it was so fun it wasn't a hall it's still a theater room yeah that was like a thousand of you guys it was fucking amazing it was amazing how are you feeling because I woke up this morning and like after all of the adrenaline that's been pulsating through my body I feel like I'm hungover I feel like I've got the like a a throuple of what's the word my brain's a throuple of inconveniences right now so then just before like literally you can't time this
Starting point is 00:02:36 like when I went overseas recently every holiday I go on I get really sick right so your body was like oh it's time to it's more like a diarrhea no it's not that it's more than like any important thing or I don't know what it was but yesterday before the show I started to feel unwell and I was like oh my god no please starve this off and it deteriorated rapidly like this head cold I couldn't breathe through my nose I could feel my voice and my throat going I'm like I'm on a live tour and I was like what do I do if my voice goes and I actually said that too we have a tour manager on the floor that like helps you organize stuff and I said what do I do if like what do people do if their voice goes and he was like you get up on stage and you make it work and go
Starting point is 00:03:15 he you know what he did he looked at me he stood up he walked across the room he got a cup of hot water and he put honey in it and he came back and he goes you drink this and I was like okay I drank this anyway so I got this head cold and then I started to feel unwell and I woke up this morning with like TMI the heaviest period the worst period and you know when it wakes you up at night you know when it's so bad the pain hits you in the night and i was like oh my the demons are leaving my body it is it's like but i got through last night and it was absolutely fucking incredible to be fair like we did a little detour to the chemist little chemist warehouse detour on the way on the way to the show i was like we need to stop at a chemist for somebody who has been
Starting point is 00:03:54 feeling a little bit under the weather you did so well no one would have known you sucked up some chondral and you sucked it up i was so drugged up it was so funny though on the way at the airport in the morning talking about sucking it up Laura we were like rushing to our plane and Laura was I say rushing because we were rushing but Laura was not and Laura like wouldn't know what there was no need to be rushing we were just walking we were idly walking we had literally an hour and a half Laura was always looking down at a phone or getting something out of a bag anyway she slowed down and I was too close behind her I didn't slow down and I had our little bag our wheelie bag full of our equipment and I just smashed the trolley into the back Laura's
Starting point is 00:04:32 bare ankle you would have thought that someone had shot her with an arrow she like threw herself to the ground threw herself to the ground like a toddler you did like a commando role holding your leg wailing around in the middle of the airport i was like your mom i was like get up and you're like oh the pain you gave me no sympathy no okay for anyone just to set the scene so one no because the scene that you set was incorrect britney was the one on her phone she was not watching where she was walking and you know when someone like rams a trolley up the back of your foot except britney's suitcase it's like a suitcase that you would expect to take if you're going on some sort of army militant thing it's like very rectangle it's hard it's very hard and underneath it it
Starting point is 00:05:13 has like this little graty thing and that went straight into my poor delicate little ankle and i i did i fucking dropped stopped and rolled and i was on the floor in the line of the security check-in in tears and britney was like stay up stay up you know i'm very sorry but you can't possibly be this upset and I was like it was so funny because there were about six of us all standing around you it was like me and Manny Day, Mitch, producer Keisha, our tour manager everyone was standing around you and you were like wailing on the ground and it was so pathetic that we all did we all just looked at you we're like get up and you were like honestly I don't know how I can go on and I was like okay we'll leave you here but that's how it kick-started I tried to sabotage
Starting point is 00:05:50 you but you you did just fine you never let it burn. Do you know what actually I was feeling emotionally fragile i was already emotionally fragile yesterday and the reason for that is because matt and i very rarely do we ever leave the kids together if we ever have a night away it's only one of us right like one of us is always at home with the kids i think i can count on i was gonna say i can count one hand i can count on like three fingers the amount of nights we've spent away from the kids together and i think they're all with me oh no you mean you and matt together me and matt together it's like never happened you and matt have definitely not come away with me every time for your romantic getaway have a little couple holiday with britney so i
Starting point is 00:06:26 didn't really know how to approach it with the girls because the thing is is like marley can get quite upset about stuff and then she gets really upset about what's happening in the future so i don't want to give her too much feels we all worry about climate change marley man she's she's a sense she's so sad lola does not give a flying fuck marley is super sensitive and so i didn't want to give her too much leeway so that she could get herself worried so anyway the morning of like we flew in here on the morning which was the sunday and then we had the show last night yeah but the morning of basically woke her up really early and i explained to her that our babysitter who she loves like a danny is amazing and i explained to her that the babysitter was coming
Starting point is 00:07:02 over she was going to mind her overnight and then our other friend falcon was going to take her to daycare and then daddy would be home at lunchtime i was expecting world fucking war three like i was like this is oh my god i'm gonna leave i'm gonna go to the airport it's gonna be anyway so i sit down and and I was like I'll put a favorite tv show on I threw a lollipop in her mouth literally I was like what is her favorite breakfast so you really made it special and then I was like look just I wanted to explain to you like mommy and daddy Danny's gonna come over and mommy and daddy gonna go just for one night you can sleep in the bed with Danny and then mommy and daddy gonna come home tomorrow she did not give one single iota not one single fuck was given and I did like at
Starting point is 00:07:44 the end of it I was like do you want to be a little bit sad is everything okay and then all day we were getting updates and it truly was amazing she was great but we were getting updates and the kids were having the best day of their lives it's so funny because we were only at the airport right we hadn't even left yet Laura's got her phone out and she's looking at pictures of the kids already she left them an hour ago and she goes she tells me this story she's like they weren't even sad like they they were like okay bye have fun we're gonna be with our babysitter and I was like Laura this is brilliant like this is what you want your child to be you want them to be independent you want to be able to leave and they're not upset and distraught and worried
Starting point is 00:08:17 about where you are and she's like rationally I know that but there's a part of me that wants her to be screaming and crying to be like don't leave me because I love you no I'm a sicko you want to build independence in your children right like you want to build resilience and independence but not so much independence that they don't care if you're in the room or not where's the sweet spot here but anyway Matt's like he's already flown home so it's very early Monday morning the night after matt flew home first thing this morning but i mean it was so do you know what my favorite thing about last night it was like the whole team was together having matt there having mitch there quiche was there we had sam fisher on stage which i know you guys already
Starting point is 00:08:53 know that he's touring with us but honestly for our very first show adelaide absolutely sent it it was so much fucking fun do you know my favorite part was probably i mean actually i don't have a favorite part it's amazing to be able to do it in front of people and talk to people and connect but we met a bunch of people before the show started and that was probably one of my favorite parts people have so many amazing stories and situations and actually connecting and getting to speak to them like just in the half an hour before the show I'd spoken to a girl that bit her own tongue off and she wanted me to tell this story she bit her own tongue off and then they sewed it back on and she was stoked like she was showing me the tongue and the
Starting point is 00:09:31 situation and telling me the story and then she's like you can tell the podcast and I'm like that he's fucking wild it was wild then one of our amazing listeners her father was passing away from bowel cancer and obviously they didn't know when it was going to happen and he had said to her if i pass away because he loved podcasts and he said if i pass away before the life uncut live show promise me you'll still go like don't be sad for me kind of thing and don't cancel it and get on with your life promise me you'll go so she did and he had unfortunately just passed away and she drove hours to still come and see the show and just talking to her and seeing how much she loved it and had a great time it was it's moments like that where I just went I fucking love what I
Starting point is 00:10:11 do and I feel so lucky that I get to connect with all you amazing people I mean we did we got to meet such amazing group of people we also like stuck around afterwards and met so many of you as well if you're listening and you were from the Adelaide show but honestly so many people had had a story off the back of something that they listened to on the podcast that they connected with people were talking about their fertility issues that they were working through people were talking about their friendship circles that they had built and I mean that's why we as much as like doing this podcast far out we love having a laugh and like it's one of the best bits but like hearing your stories and hearing how you've connected with the podcast over the years
Starting point is 00:10:46 it's such a privilege it is such a privilege for us to be able to do this and also have you guys as a lifers and have you a part of it so like Adelaide was just the tip of the iceberg we've got six more shows across the country happening I mean over the next two and a half weeks we're gonna be absolutely we're cooked but um they're also and I have to give these beautiful I have to give these women a shout out there were two women that came to the meet and greet before the show that I'm not kidding left a wedding to come to the party I mean wild they told the bride they were like we can only come to half your wedding and they were like oh my god is something wrong she's like yeah life uncut's performing now we don't condone or encourage this no we do we do
Starting point is 00:11:25 but absolutely fuck your family so I found them at the end because I was I couldn't stop thinking about it I was like that poor bride if my guests were like I've got a podcast show to go to so I found them that was before the show I found them at the end and I said was it worth it like do you regret leaving the wedding are you happy and she's like it was worth every fucking cent I'll leave it a hundred times over and I was like okay I feel a little bit less guilty to that poor bride and if the bride's listening we love you what was your what was your favorite part of last night I don't want to give anything away I mean I was at the Guzman and Gomez before we went on stage oh god we had Guzman and Gomez for some reason like an hour before the show it had nothing to do with
Starting point is 00:12:02 the Guzman and Gomez it went straight through me it was like two minutes before the show usually Laura's doing the nervous poo and I was like guys I'm I'm on the toilet I was like they're like and the call time in three two and I was like I'm still on the toilet like Brittany where are you Brittany and honestly she was decimating our bathroom at the time and I was like Brittany we it's eight o'clock we're supposed to be on stage two minutes ago so it was funny when we went on stage literally the first thing that happened we went on and I had a bottle of champagne and I was like I'm gonna open this and we'll have a glass of wine now it wasn't supposed to be like the where you're the race cars and you shake this it wasn't supposed to be that it's just supposed to
Starting point is 00:12:35 be champagne that we actually drink no one had shaken no one had done anything so I gently open i think i might have by accident a little bit you bitch laura absolute mold can you hold this for me so we get on the stage and we're saying hi hi hi and laura's doing her welcome and i'm like i'll pour the wine behind her so i take the lid off pop it explosion this thing has gone all over me all over our couch all over the ground all over our paper sheets the ink had run i was like well now i don't even have anything to guide me through the show and that's how we kick started the show but I don't want to say what my favorite parts were because I don't want to give anything away we'll talk about at the end of the tour maybe yeah and
Starting point is 00:13:15 you guys should come there's six more like I said six more shows if you haven't got your tickets yet there's still tickets please go get them you honestly from the feedback last night we guarantee that you'll have a good time I mean no one told us to our face that it was shit so we're assuming it was great and also all of the the photos on social media like all of the stories the tags Like I feel, I mean, I was tied in so many things last night and that was just watching it back is wild, humiliating and exhilarating, all of those things at once. I actually can't believe I tell the story that I tell.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yeah, neither. Yeah. I feel like one day you'll tell it on the podcast, but it will be like post-show. Yeah, post-show. Like this is a story I had to run by Ben. Every single person. Yeah, run by everyone to make sure it was acceptable.
Starting point is 00:14:00 We got there in the end. And even as I was telling it, you know, when you're midway through a story like what am I doing oh my internal monologue was like shut it down but then I was like I'm too deep literally we're too deep I've got to keep going but also at that point in time you realize we have no dignity left we've left it all it's been on the podcast it's also on the stage floor in Adelaide yeah we've done it all right well if you haven't got your tickets you can get them from lifeuncutpodcast.com.au what is our next show our next show is Perth Perth this Thursday Perth baby we are coming for you yeah we're leaving on
Starting point is 00:14:30 Wednesday my kids won't care anyway they don't even know who you are anymore they don't give okay I want to talk to you about a doco that's just come out I'm absolutely loving it I haven't finished it it's going viral lots of scenes are going viral lots of people in our discussion group are talking about it I've watched one episode it is the David Beckham documentary aptly called Beckham as soon as you said it I knew exactly what we're talking about but I love that you're like we're gonna talk about it even though I've only watched one episode and I have not seen it at all So we are so experienced, well-researched. No, because what everyone's talking about now basically is like the first one to two episodes.
Starting point is 00:15:08 And I feel like I'm pretty up in the football world now that my boyfriend's a footballer. I mean, you could not come more experienced than being a wag yourself. I'm not a wag. Can you call yourself a wag? No, I'm slightly offended. On a technicality. Wife and girlfriend. That's what it means, right?
Starting point is 00:15:24 Wife and girlfriend. Yes. Of a football player. officially yes but the reason like i think it comes with a derogatory term like i think a lot of people don't like it because it's the assumption that oh they don't do anything and they're just these little people that have no opinion they follow their partners around the world and bow down at their feet so i think a lot of women are like i'm more than that i feel like wag has a negative connotation because it implies that the person who is the wag the wife or girlfriend is
Starting point is 00:15:49 just following their partner around the country and that they're just an accessory to their partner's success totally but the other part of this is who cares if that is what they do I have seen many wags in two different sports now yes that makes me sound bad I have friends that are wags like this idea of that it's such this terrible thing it is not and these partners a lot of their successes is down to very hard work dedicating their life but it's also down to the fact that they have a supporting partner that can help them travel and can help them do that and also the reality is is that a lot of these people probably couldn't be in relationships unless they were with someone who was willing to not always but often case deprioritize themselves in order
Starting point is 00:16:26 to prioritize the sport interestingly we actually we interviewed kelly finlayson last night on stage in adelaide who was amazing we love her we've had on the podcast before several times we actually just had her on the pickup recently as well but kelly spoke about so she went to the brown low recently with her partner who plays for port adelaide yeah and she went to the brown low she was describing it within her social media like all of her posts and her instagram whatnot as they were going to their brown low together and she copped a whole heap of backlash firstly why do people fucking care i know why do people get angry about stupidest things anyway but people getting angry about it because people like it's not your brown low it's his brown low and she had a really
Starting point is 00:17:02 good point she was like do you know what yes sure he plays the sport but he would never be able to do the things that he does without me being the supportive person and without me raising our family and all the things that she does to contribute to allow for him to be able to prioritize his sport so therefore she's like it's my fucking brown load too yeah yeah they're a team going to the brown low we're a team going to the brown low like he and I are a team as well and I think you're fucking good on it anyway we just derailed this chat back to Porsche and Becks last thing I'm gonna say about wax one more thing is the reason why it has negative connotations is I think it also leans into this like there's been so many stories in the past around like
Starting point is 00:17:38 bitchiness between wag groups like this competition nature between wags as well and I think it really leans into like women hating women and like this gossip and I don't know I think it kind of embodies within the media the worst qualities of female friendship well it doesn't help that what has taken over the news the last two years is the wag at the Christie see I was about to call it a series like it was a real tv series it was the drama unfolding in the UK Rebecca Vardy like long story short two wags that were going for each other and it was the bitchiest court case you've ever seen so that doesn't help that that was like literally last year yeah back case Yeah, exactly. Back to the Beckham documentary. I want to start by saying you do not have to like
Starting point is 00:18:18 football or sport to enjoy this series. Like it is absolutely truly fascinating to get this insight into these lives where you feel like you know so much about them because they're so public, but you realize you know nothing at all. So Posh Spice and David Beckham have probably had more news articles written about them than anyone else, especially in the UK media. You feel like they've been around forever if someone said tell me about them you'd be able to tell top line stuff but you've never seen the level of privacy and detail behind the scenes as you see in this series but also like everyone even if you aren't a fan like even if you don't really care about soccer I don't care about soccer but I will watch the documentary I have grand plans as soon as I have a spare moment
Starting point is 00:18:58 of time maybe on the next plane 2024 maybe on the next plane trip but even if you don't like soccer I feel like it's the type of show where you know we're of the age group and a lot of people listening to this will be of the age group where Spice Girls permeated our fucking lives. Like I will never forget being at school and learning Spice Girl dances so I could go home and do a choreography of a Spice Girls dance to my mum. Like they were the biggest goals and we held them up. They were our, the Britney Spears, the Spice Girls, the Hanson era. They were the pinnacle of what Taylor Swift is now. Totally. There's a lot of people, I'm seeing a lot of stuff online, like a lot of people celebrating it saying it's amazing. A lot of people saying, wow,
Starting point is 00:19:36 what a well-oiled PR controlling stunt like to make us feel a certain way about them and so far I'm only the first epi in but I don't agree with that this is all like well-controlled PR oiled machine because there are parts of it that don't make them look favorable so I feel like they haven't shied away from that kind of stuff do you think with these sorts of docu-series like you know we saw it with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry do you think that when they sign up to do a Netflix documentary, that part of the conditions, because obviously they get paid a buttload, do you reckon part of the conditions is that they don't have
Starting point is 00:20:11 100% editing rights? Do you know what I mean? Like the things that they say, yeah, they'll have like an overview of how the overarching context comes about, but like they still have to touch on those controversial moments in order to be able to actually create a series. No, I reckon they have complete control. Really?
Starting point is 00:20:26 Well, then it's just like it's going to show them in a favourable light, even if they are touching on those problematic moments. no but i think there'd be i think there'd be some specifics in the contract right like like overall we'll work together to put this out but you can't shy away from these things because they were so big in the public so they're gonna and they do that they touch on very briefly like his alleged affair they talk about some some bad stuff that happened but it is very well controlled so it's also very ambiguous you don't know a hundred percent did he have an affair didn't he probably but we'll never know if they didn't have control over that that would be everywhere and
Starting point is 00:20:59 Like it would be scandalous. So first of all, I want to play you one part where it just makes you fall in love with them so much. It was like when they just met and they just were so, you know, that like honeymoon phase where you meet someone and they're the love of your life and you just become so obsessed with each other. You know, when you're like, you cannot get enough. We were watching TV. It came on and I turned around to Carrie. I went, see that one there? I'm going to marry that one.
Starting point is 00:21:23 And kind of, you know, we're laughing and joking. I'm like, no, I'm going to marry that one. The posh one, the one in the black dress. I suppose that most blokes have done that in their life, haven't they? Looked at the television and said, like, don't f***ing end up with them. My manager kept saying, try and keep it under wraps, don't get photographed together. So we would meet in car parks and that's not as seedy as it sounds.
Starting point is 00:21:45 The first kiss that I ever had with Victoria was in the BMW in a car park. Classy. The truth is, he was on the phone to Victoria every second and he would stay on the phone until one o'clock in the morning. He was in the bathroom with the light on all night speaking to her. I'm like, what the f*** are you speaking to her about? It was like an addict. He would drive four hours to spend 20 minutes with her.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Okay, I am such a f***ing cynic and I know that I haven't seen the documentary yet. This doesn't make me be like, oh my god, it's so beautiful, love, love, love, love. Even though I love love, I love love. But I am a jaded old hag now and I'm like, this is toxic. What? What part is toxic? because i'm like this is love bombing this is you know you've seen someone who you don't even know you've already made a decision that you're going to marry them based on nothing based on nothing to do with their personality or who they are you saw them through a tv screen and you're like that's it
Starting point is 00:22:36 that's for me and then i'm like oh this is so unhealthy everything we've learned goes against what we're talking about right now nah it's sort of the same as how you put like hansen and jason mamoa on your wall poster when you're a kid you're like i'm gonna go up and marry them same kind of vibe yeah but no one actually ends up marrying them except for jason mamoa who married lisa and did the same thing no so again too deep now no you will see this when you watch it they liked each other like you have to see it to experience so he had seen her on tv and he's like fuck i love that chick she's beautiful who is that i'm gonna marry her one day but she also knew who he was and she turned up to one of his matches and she was invited right but she had him because he was
Starting point is 00:23:11 like i want to marry her no she was not invited by him he was in the locker room and they said hey two of the spice girls are here and he was like oh my god which ones because he was like excited that it could be her and it was her and so and I think it was Baby Spice no it was Mel Mel C Sporty Spice of course it was I'm like reminiscing on the Spice Girls days but that's how it happened and then Victorious is you know there's all these pieces to camera from each of them and it's really cute and she's like I was you know sort of hoping to run into him in the behind the scenes because she was so famous so she was getting to go on the pitch and she was getting to go into like the tea room part now I'm a sucker for love so I'm saying it's not love bombing I think it's really
Starting point is 00:23:47 romantic it's love so the next part that I wanted to highlight was this is the part that I'm sure you've seen Laura it's gone absolutely viral it's Victoria Beckham's explaining to the world that she was working class we both come from families that work really hard both of our parents work really hard we're very working working class be honest I am being honest I am being honest did your dad drive you to school yet so my dad no my dad what was it all right it's not a simple answer because what did you get your dad it depends no no no no okay in the 80s my dad had a rolls royce i'm loving how much people are loving this also it kind of just i mean like yes it's funny and it's endearing i mean when i very first saw it without any context i was kind
Starting point is 00:24:39 of like i don't like how he's calling her out i was like that's kind of embarrassing it feels like he doesn't give her the opportunity to even speak and I didn't like that but also granted I haven't seen the way that it all plays out but I actually think she sounds a bit silly in it because she it sounds like she has no idea what working class even is it sounds like that the concept of what actual working class is which is you know not people who have come into money not people who are businesses not middle class which is what it sounds like she was it makes me think she doesn't actually know the concept I want to put this on record I love Victoria Beckham I think she's great i have never actually heard a bad word about it everyone that ever speaks about her says she's
Starting point is 00:25:18 actually so lovely she's really funny she's down to earth and you do see this side of her that you really like her in the documentary because if you think of victoria beckham in the news when do you hear her speak when she doesn't ever when do you see a smart that's my point she has this facade in public and i don't know if it's because she's been so highly photographed and talked about and followed and hassled since she was a pop star at like 18 i don't know if it's that that she just goes out in public and puts a front on but she's at the end of the day she's a real person no do you know what she spoke about it not I mean I can't remember exactly what it was but there was so many photos where every photo that was taken of her when she was out in public she wouldn't
Starting point is 00:25:52 be smiling she had quite like a straight face right she wouldn't be smiling paparazzis and she had like a one and only posh spice look and everyone kind of thought that she was quite cold as a person because it was a cold look you know it was not this warmth that we expect from women you're like oh come on just smile but I found it really endearing when she spoke about it and she was talking about how she doesn't actually like her smile and it's an insecurity of hers and it makes you question you know if you're having your photo taken 300 times a day god more who knows and every day there's photos of you out there in the world how much that would breed and heighten your insecurities especially if you didn't like something so basic as your smile so she then was like
Starting point is 00:26:30 leaning into this posh spice persona even more but it made her seem like she was a bit of a hard-ass bitch yeah totally and I think for this like it's we're all laughing we're because we're laughing at her saying she's working class and then and then David's like hang on babe like tell the world like he's calling her out but he's not calling her out to embarrass her he's like it's almost cute and he's almost like look it is what it is like just I feel like it sits on both sides I feel like he's like not letting her get away with it regardless but at the same time I think it's interesting how we expect our celebrities like our huge celebrities i.e the beckhams to be relatable and so therefore they're trying to be relatable like she in that moment of saying that she was working class and
Starting point is 00:27:13 saying what she was trying to say is that her parents are hard workers right but she was trying to make her previous life seem more relatable like she wasn't a nepo baby because we fucking on one hand hate nepo babies but then if you're in that hard spot between you know maybe you did grow up really privileged and then you became a Spice Girl and maybe you haven't experienced all this hardship in between. How do you make yourself seem relatable when actually you have been really privileged? Yeah, totally. But she's also not an Epo baby. She's privileged for sure, but she's not an Epo baby. Her parents weren't famous. They weren't in the music industry. They didn't give her a leg up. They were just wealthy people in business. Her dad was in engineering, owned a
Starting point is 00:27:48 company. Her mom was a hairdresser and an admin clerk and worked between the two. They were very successful but you know why she got the name posh spice it was because so I read this she grew up with the pool so she was like the well she was the wealthiest of all of the spice girls because she grew up in a house that had a pool and her dad drove the Rolls Royce which obviously they talked about she's mistaking hard work with working class which I think is totally fine you can be wealthy very wealthy and very privileged and still work really hard yeah I know but not working class but you're working hard just less relatable 100% now one of the parts and I feel like this whole docuseries of like four parts is going to be so much to dissect and I'm so
Starting point is 00:28:27 fascinated but one of the parts that like for episode two everyone strap in no but this one really struck a chord with me because I it's like a bit of a lived experience and I guess I've had an inside look on a much smaller scale and it's so disturbing so in the 1998 world cup now again you don't have to care about football bear with me in the 1998 world cup David Beckham was like their star player he was an amazing goal scorer he scored one of the most amazing goals of all time from like halfway down the pitch he was like oh I just thought I'd have a shot winning you have to see it gives you goosebumps but the world cup he's their best player he gets a red card like he had a scuffle with one of the other players he got a red card that means you get sent
Starting point is 00:29:06 off but it also means like you miss the next game but when you say scuffle I mean like he behaved like a little brat so like yeah at the end of brat so he got into trouble with whatever or like I don't know who was playing but but basically he like when the game wasn't on he purposely tripped over a player like it was just like a childish silly thing to do which then one he got blamed for them losing the world cup but then he also jeopardized him playing the next game just because of childish behavior yeah he like tripped over really were angry about it he tripped over one of the other players Diego Simeone of Argentina so it was not necessary and that's where it did him wrong it's not like it was a tackle in the middle of a match or whatever like that so he
Starting point is 00:29:40 gets the red card, he gets sent off, his team lose the match. And David Beckham is solely to blame for that, which is not true. You cannot put a whole team's loss on one player. Here's my question though. I'm not saying that the fury is justified, but if you are one of the best players in the team and you're being paid one of the highest salaries in the team as well, then I think if you get red carded for acting like a child, that is why people are angry, right? Because they feel as though like it was such an avoidable situation and people get so fucking fired up about sport yes absolutely like what he did was stupid and it haunted him for a very long time he most doubly regrets it because the heat that he copped to that for the next couple of years was really
Starting point is 00:30:22 bad but maybe i'm just being sensitive because i just don't feel like the crime justified the punishment that he got right so for the next couple years i say years it obviously deteriorated over time but from that exact moment the death threats the humiliation the publicly being spat on yelled at abused he got managers like his bosses hated him like it was a really tough time in the documentary they show this one scene that i was like wow that is heavy where they outside of his house there was a huge doll like picture the size of like a human size you know a mannequin and it was hanging by a noose and it had Beckham written on it with his shirt and stuff and it was literally saying like well I mean you can take that how you want right do something to yourself
Starting point is 00:31:09 or I'm going to do this to you it's a threat in some way and this is something that he says it was like we got this pile on and imagine the pile on worldwide like football and fans and especially when you're David Beckham is I can't a world we can't even imagine you know and this is also of a time what I think is interesting about this is this is of a time where it was before the conversations of what pylons are like now we talk about cancer culture and pylons and the damage it does and like mass mentality and outrage culture all these things we have discussions about now right but back in the day then yes there wasn't social media in the same way that we have it now but the pylons from media as well was so intense and therefore the pylon from fans because
Starting point is 00:31:48 the fury could be targeted and it could be aimed in any way or towards any person depending on how the media were writing about that person at the time right and they didn't have the same platforms that we have to be able to like get their story across or to say how they're feeling about certain things the thing about this is like we see it with celebrities but I guess like for me I would never really consider it in terms of a sporting world because that just sits so far outside of my normal interest but Britt I know that when you were dating Jordan when he would lose a tennis match and I remember you saying he lost some big match and the amount of vitriol the amount of abuse that he received in his dms that then overflowed from his dms into your dms was
Starting point is 00:32:33 something that was like such a unbelievable experience for you yeah it really opened my eyes up I've obviously been on the receiving end of some hate just for my life for whatever you do like I feel like when you're in the media people feel like you're open to that totally you're like which is so inaccurate and also people send one message but then they don't realize that actually sometimes their message is one of a thousand messages and it's the you know that's the whole essence of a pile on yeah and so I mean with Jordan when you play a big match for example and I know like all of his friends all the athletes that I knew all said the same thing it's not like it was just Jordan as any tennis player would say the same thing if you lose a match the hate that
Starting point is 00:33:11 is piled on you publicly and privately was something I couldn't never have fathomed and they had all told me about it they'd all been like oh yeah we're gonna get some death threats today ha ha ha ha and then I used to because I was so protective of Jordan and I think that's normal like when you're in a relationship I used to help him manage things so I used to help him manage his dms and and whatever else so sometimes I'd see them coming in sometimes they would start to come in when he was still playing like at the end of a match and I would start going through and I was like blocking delete because I didn't want him to ever have to see that um and I would then get it so people would then go onto his page see that he had a girlfriend come to me and then
Starting point is 00:33:49 i'd get the death threats just because my father i mean yes us open wimbledon french open the big ones but not even the big ones the little matches like it's every single week of their life they were getting this and i remember this one person this was like i used to get them all the time through him i remember one person writing to me and saying like you know really bad stuff about Jordan and then said um that they were going to take me string me up between two poles and cut me open oh that's fucking that is what somebody said to me in a dm yeah to Jordan and I so that he would know what was happening to me as well it was like it was like a but that was normal that was completely normal so in this documentary I can't even I mean I know you mentioned it oh
Starting point is 00:34:31 I don't think you described I probably never said it because it's so disgusting but like it's unbelievable it's absolutely unfathomable and i know when the stalker came out brit you were like fuck i just resonated in the smallest way because you experienced it a drop in the ocean in comparison to this but like it makes you question like how do these people even get out of bed at the end of the day when this is what they're receiving in their dms when you think the whole fucking world hates you i mean that's probably and i know i get that these are like very like we established at the start it's a very prable story to get you to empathize with them to humanize them to feel like you know they are these incredible people but like you hear
Starting point is 00:35:06 stories like that and you think there's nothing that you could do in life that could justify that amount of vitriol no and actually no i take that back that's not criminal there's a few criminal things that could justify the vitriol no sporting match should ever at the end of the day should ever you know this should not be the outcome but i think it's probably a good thing yes it's making the world humanize them and like yes get on side and maybe only look at them in a great light and it's done wonders for them they've gained like half a million new fans on social media since has been released like people are seeing them in a new light loving them but i think if anything can come from this he speaks really openly about having like deep dark years off the back of this
Starting point is 00:35:42 and like depression and you think that okay this guy is one of the best soccer players in the world he's got a beautiful wife he's got a family he's got money and this kind of hate and vitriol is still getting to him and putting him down and if anything maybe people can take a step back and be like hang on fuck next time i'm going to send a message to someone yeah i need to remember that there's a human on the other side and it's not just me I'm one of maybe 500,000 people that have written to this one person yeah and I mean it also makes you question because sometimes we can look in on people's lives who are celebrities we can look in on people's lives who are sports players and I think that they're kind of one of the same and think how can they be unhappy when
Starting point is 00:36:20 they have everything like their life is so perfect like they're so privileged which they absolutely are but I guess in these moments especially when you go through cheating scandals which obviously you know whether it's true or it's not true then you go through living out the worst parts of your life publicly you get to live out the best parts of your life but you also live out every mistake you make is public everything that you do that doesn't align with what people expect of you is public and people have an opinion about because everything is public slather it just means that like you then are constantly receiving the good and the bad yeah but when you receive these messages like how do you respond to that what did you do in that moment it's funny because
Starting point is 00:37:01 not haha funny no it's funny because my reaction every time was not for me it was for him I was so protective and worried about what that would do to him because he copped a lot more than I did and they're already feeling shit if they've lost a match like they already are feeling like a failure yeah like I could have done better like that's normal and then to go online and see like hundreds of messages and hundreds of comments or and they all talk about it and they all say you know like it is what it is like we just expect it now but like expecting it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt or it doesn't get to you and uh he always said to me like don't worry about it don't let it get you down um like a pretty thick skin you have to have a thick skin all those kind of things but it does
Starting point is 00:37:41 get you down when someone's telling you they want to string you up and cut you open like you're gonna lose a bit of sleep over that and then you're like oh my god does this person actually mean that do they know where i live i'm a public person do they know where the next match is are they going to be there like there's all these things you think about but i was just so worried about him him reading that also like you should never get that jaded in life by something like that that you're able to just be like oh whatever yeah and they all are they're all like oh no death right how many did you get today like it's such a it's so cool that's wild all right it is time for accidentally unfiltered stories and this is where you guys you write in
Starting point is 00:38:14 your most embarrassing stories and well we laugh at you and with you this is okay i'm gonna kick it off with this one. So I just went on a date. The date went well, which is rare because first dates aren't known to be my vibe. He paid for dinner, which was close to $200 and he picked me up and he dropped me off. Also aggressive because if that's a first date, I'm not getting picked up and dropped off. Yeah. Not unless you've been talking for like, nah, just don't. I just know you meet there and then you have an exit strategy if you need to get out just in case it's not going well. So props to you. Okay. When we got back to mine, we got out of the car and I could see that it was wrapping up and I got a bit weird about maybe if there was going to be a good
Starting point is 00:38:50 night kiss or not it shouldn't have bothered me but I got in my head and I swear I just left my body I put my hand up for a high five and said up here man he was obviously confused and I said five of these bad boys no and then gave the man a high five I panicked and tried to resurrect the situation by going in for a hug then proceeded to give him six slow pats on the back and narrated how weird it was I literally got inside and died and came back to my body and never have been more mortified in my life it's like you're saying goodbye to like Aunt Glenda you know how you're like bye Aunt Glenda five taps on the back I sympathize with this so bad because I dated a guy for almost a year who did this on our first date he high-fived me and then I was like oh I've been
Starting point is 00:39:39 I've been friend zoned like that's what this is like obviously he doesn't like me anyway he asked me on another date didn't kiss me on the second date and I was like wow I've been so hardcore friend zoned but also I don't understand why he wants to hang out with me because I don't need any more friends so I'm not that's not what I'm looking for on tinder yeah but it worked you did wait no on the date three he kissed me and I was like oh shit maybe I've got this wrong and it wasn't until date five that we actually ended up sleeping together because fuck the man was playing a long game I literally think I was begging him to have sex with me but don't you remember but he said he said he was so embarrassed after our first date that he went home and he was like
Starting point is 00:40:15 how do I interact with women because when I really like a female I don't know what to do and so he was like I was questioning everything I feel like it's so normal I have been in that there's no worse situation when then when you like overthink how this is going to end when you like slowly walk into the taxi rank and you go in your separate ways and you're like is this going to be like when you're in your head is it going to be a kiss am I just going to put them mean am I just gonna tap twice on the car like off you go like what do you do do you ask do you I asked oh yeah I asked my ex can I kiss you yeah I said are we gonna make out because the taxi was coming and I was like okay we got two minutes we're making out I just put it
Starting point is 00:40:51 there no what I was gonna say is don't you remember when I went on that date and we went to a dinner date he dropped me home now we met there but we both lived in Bondi he was gonna drop me home and don't you remember we're at the traffic light the car was still on and he basically like push me out of the car don't you yes I do he was like just it's easier if you just get out here and he leant across and opened the car door and I was like oh my god my seat belt was off and I was out the car and I was like what just happened I'm on the side of the road he's like it's quicker what you're like why are we trying to make this end quickly okay if anyone doesn't know this story basically I feel like you need to fill the blanks in the guy drove Brit home no I've got it mixed
Starting point is 00:41:29 up i've forgotten i was driving him home and he jumped out of the car that's it i'm sorry i was so traumatized i was at the traffic light and he was like a little bit up the road and literally it was just like this will do thanks for a great night opened it now and i could i was like i couldn't even say goodbye he was literally like the car was still rolling did you see him again yeah for like months did you end up hooking up with him no we kissed like it was the weirdest thing we just became friends it was a really it was a really weird thing but nobody wants friends off tinder but i feel like it's the same situation i reckon he jumped out of the moving car and then was like why did i do that like yeah and you can't recover from a moving car jump out exit strategy
Starting point is 00:42:08 i think the best way of going about like the final the wrap-up of the date you know it's ending you're about to part ways you're not going home with them but you would like some sort of physical interaction you know to exchange some saliva i feel like asking ew ew i feel like saying like can i kiss you is like this is the best way just ask then it's consensual and it's also not awkward yeah i wouldn't unless they say no i wouldn't say can i kiss you i'd say i would more go with like i really want to kiss you you're gonna kiss me so are you gonna kiss me or what yeah but like any variation of like can i kiss you do you want to kiss me like you know can we whatever feels comfortable whatever flows for you but i think ask the question because it's either gonna be
Starting point is 00:42:47 a yes and you're gonna instantly it saves the high fives and the back pats or it's very much no and then you never have to see the fucking guy again yeah laura that works really well when the car is stopped and stationary not want to still move and i couldn't even get the sentence out i'll meet you at the corner i'll just find a park just give me two seconds i just gotta put some money in the meter and then i'll come back we'll make it out all right what's your accidentally unfiltered i feel like that's it all right get back in the zone center yourself my husband and two kids recently went to bali we stuck the kids in the kids club i had a relaxing arbo by the pool while the husband
Starting point is 00:43:30 went for a surf when he got in we decided to quickly sneak back to the room for a quickie before we had to pick the kids up we came in and the room had just finished being cleaned the lovely balinese man finished making our bed and walked out the door before i knew it hubby had his pants off a raging boner and my vibrator in one hand and lube in the other we were ready to go because we didn't have long so like for a quickie that's like an yes yeah you know you know what you need to do you get it done but you just use the penis if you've got to have a quickie why are you having a vibrator i was still wearing my swimmers and it just started undressing he was laying on the bed when a second balinese man walked out of the bathroom that he was cleaning still
Starting point is 00:44:07 he took one look at my husband and ran out of the room yelling sorry sorry i'm nearly finished now he didn't exit straight away we had to stand there for four minutes while he gathered his belongings to leave that's fucking great it's so funny imagine walking out like you just don't know he's still cleaning you got a raging boner on the bed and then a balinese man pops up at the end of your bed hello just need to change your linen sex when you've got kids it just changes everything i'll tell you about my most recent sexcapade on the next episode of life on cart no really things have changed dramatically of course yeah but like even more so now we've got a new backing track to um to us we've got a new backing track to our sex life oh my god he's so
Starting point is 00:44:48 funny all right well i'm going to tell you on thursdays how's that for breadcrumb i feel like that was more like me in my 20s my pony are you around now no all right also in case you've forgotten tomorrow we have another episode of life uncut coming out because this month we're doing things a little bit different so if you listened last week we have separated it out our Tuesday episode and then we're putting our juicy meaty interview on the Wednesday so that way you can better find the content that you want and oh yeah hello I was gonna say and whilst this oh hello do you forgot I was here I was gonna say whilst this is like a trial over this month if you guys love it and if we love it which I think we're going to I'm loving it so far we will
Starting point is 00:45:33 probably be keeping this into the near future yeah we'll see how it runs anyway we might change our minds you could it's always okay to change your mind guys okay so tomorrow we have Elizabeth Day She is from the podcast, How to Fail. It is a fucking behemoth of a podcast. Have you ever heard anyone speak so beautifully, so articulately than Elizabeth Day? We've never had a podcast guest that we had to edit so little. And I don't mean because our other podcast guests are not perfect.
Starting point is 00:45:57 Like they're amazing. They are amazing. Every single person we've interviewed has had amazing stories, but there's always like a little tidy up, you know, there's a little mistake, just tighten it up. I have never, ever, ever, ever had a conversation like we did with Elizabeth Day where it just was so free flowing and she is so generous and so incredible at what she communicates now she the topics that we touch on this there's some heavy ones but also
Starting point is 00:46:17 there's such like light and shade in this as well Elizabeth talks about being childless but not by choice she talks about her fertility struggles that she has had and she talks about how she's gotten to a place now where she has accepted that she will never be a mum and it was something that she always thought she would have in her life and it is such an incredibly powerful conversation and I think for anybody who has struggled with fertility this is when you're going to get so much out of part of Elizabeth's podcast how to fail is she speaks to some of the biggest people in the world and finds their failures which I think is really cool and the way they look at failure and how they deal with it well also because like failure is something that every
Starting point is 00:46:53 single person one we interpret it differently we all see different things in our lives as failures and two that's where and it's literally how this podcast started it is where the biggest periods of growth come from like we started this podcast after conversations around breakups which can often be seen as failures but they are the pinch point moments in life that can put you in a trajectory it's like a fork in the road where your life either you learn from it and you move forward and it's your reaction to failure or you let it define you and that's what she speaks about truly incredible episode dropping in your hot little hands tomorrow just a reminder if you haven't got your tickets to the life uncut live show fucking go and get
Starting point is 00:47:29 them because it's going to be so fun lifeuncutpodcast.com.au and also if you have accidentally unfiltered stories ask uncuts whatever it's litty city just send them on in can i just say as well to give you an insight into these uh live shows i put my back out last night that's my neck my crack and then it was britney's back all right we need to know in the show you guys will remember the moment you'll know the moment my back's out i don't know what the moment was what do you mean i was upside down do you remember when you tried to shove a pillow into my vagina on stage. I can't forget the favourite part.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Mine too. This is sounding wild. But just calm. All that happened. Anyway, guys, that's it from us. You know the drill. Tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your dog, tell your friends and share the love because we love love.
Starting point is 00:48:29 We'll be right back.
