Life Uncut - Laura’s Hot Take: Easter Sucks! & MAFS Final Vows Unpacked

Episode Date: April 7, 2026

Hey Lifers! Easter has come and gone and Laura has a very controversial take. She thinks Easter is actually kind of a bad holiday. Britt meanwhile spent four days completely alone; not in a zen way, i...n a "I didn't speak to a single human for four days" way. She's shining a light on the single people we forget about at family holidays. Britt also accidentally superglued herself to her luxury sheets with press-on nail glue. More on that. We're deep in the final stretch of Married at First Sight and this part of the episode contains spoilers from the episode that aired last night! We chat: Gia finally coming on After the Dinner Party after seven weeks of cancellations The monkey branching, the lying, and what's really behind Gia's behaviour Why this season's female-on-female bullying is especially badly timed given the manosphere moment we're in The Final Vows - Is walking away before letting the other speak taking power back or just plain disrespectful? Whether you can actually ‘fake’ a relationship for 3 months What's coming: the reunion episode and a juicy "where are they now" bonus episode You can watch us on Youtube Find us on Instagram Join us on tiktok Or join the Facebook Discussion Group Hosted by Britt Hockley & Laura Byrne Produced by Keeshia Pettit Video Produced by Vanessa Beckford & Lachy PugsleySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Brittany. I'm Laura. Happy Easter everyone. Oh happy Easter. No. No. Do you know what? It wasn't a happy Easter. Not for me. Do you know how grim this was? And my fault. But last minute I decided to go and try and get myself an Easter egg because I thought you know what? No one else is going to give me one. No one's setting me up a little easter egg hunt around my house brit you're almost 40 doesn't matter the girl still and no i'm not i'm two years younger than you currently i'm 38 yeah but ain't no one setting up an easter egg hunt for a 38 year old turning 39 very soon don't you take that away from me okay do i need to hunt my chocolate no would i have liked to have been given a chocolate yes so
Starting point is 00:00:51 i went to the supermarket and i was like i'm gonna go get a proper bunny like really lock in nothing It was like the Sahara Desert. The only chocolate left was for sociopaths, which was? If you say caramel cream egg, I'm going to flip my lid because it is the best. Turkish Delight. The fucking best. I love Turkish Delight. You're both sociopaths.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Turkish Delight is- That's the reason it's the only chocolate left is because no one likes them. No, it's because children don't like them, but adults love them. Turkish Delight and caramel cream eggs, caramel cream eggs, I would call it, Cadbury cream eggs are elite. They are top tier chocolates. I am deeply obsessed. If I was on a deserted island and the only thing I could eat was Turkish Delight.
Starting point is 00:01:33 You'd rather die. I'd be like, bury me here. This is how I go. Brittany's like, I'm going to look great in my bikinis. So snatched. It's just me and dead body and like a pile of Turkish Delight chocolate. What a way to go. I have a hot take.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Okay. So obviously Easter with little kids is a main event, right? So we went down to Ulladulla for Easter with the poor kids. we actually spent it cleaning the house mostly however we did do an easter egg hunt and i have always said especially around christmas that like if you don't make the magic the magic doesn't come like as the parent you're responsible for making holiday periods feel festive and fun and apparently britney's friends for making her easter egg feel next year you can come and do the i'll get you a little basket you can come to my house my magical no but it is right it's like you're that's what
Starting point is 00:02:21 you do you know and this year Easter crept up on me okay it crept up and I didn't you just don't see it coming do you it's the same same time every year but we just don't see it coming it actually isn't the same time every year it's the first weekend every year no it was very early this year last year it was like mid-April and this year it was no it's always the first weekend of April well it felt a lot earlier this year anyway so I wasn't as prepared and I think you know I also got like very last minute organized. I quickly went to the IGA. I got all the Easter eggs. Everything's very expensive this year. And then we, we get down there, it was pouring with rain. So I was like, okay, we're going to have to do the hunt inside, not outside, which felt pretty
Starting point is 00:03:01 anticlimactic. Like the kids woke up in the morning and they were like by seven o'clock, the Easter egg hunt was done. Like we'd done all of the things to do. And it was 7.30 in the morning. The kids are off their tits on fucking chocolate already. And I sat there and I looked at Matt and i was like i have a hot take i actually think easter's a bit shit i was like easter is not a good holiday christmas elite top tier love santa love everything it stands for love christmas as like a social holiday easter if you have young kids they are just jacked on chocolate they have so many eggs that they're never ever going to get through so they now have to rehome baskets of eggs i'll bring them to you brit but i honestly just rehome i think it's or it's plastic plastic eggs
Starting point is 00:03:45 I just think I could give it a miss. But I also think we've done it to ourselves. And I saw a lot of people online talking about the same thing. People I know and people I don't know, just like trending videos. What other people saying it's a bit, it's a bit not, not for them. Also people just saying, why are we doing this to ourselves and making everything such a big spectacle and a big event? And what happened to the days where we woke up as kids and there was, we had an Easter
Starting point is 00:04:09 bunny. I remember we used to, mom and dad used to put them under our pillow when we're sleeping, which only did that one year because then they melted through the bed. But you used to wake up, get your chocolates, do your Easter egg hunt, and then the rest of it was just a day. Like it's a normal day, but now the expectation for it to be this big thing and then people posting all this stuff on social media and then other mums are seeing it being like, oh, my God,
Starting point is 00:04:29 did I not do enough because this person has presents and a whole Easter party and they're doing races and it's turning into a carnival. Like why can't we just wake up and give them some chocolate? I think the idea is that you're supposed to go to church. No one goes to church. You guys are like the Grinch version, but we don't have an Easter one. What is the Easter version of the Grinch?
Starting point is 00:04:47 That's who you two are. Okay, you don't want to know why people want to make this a nice, nice thing to do that is a little bit exciting because he is risen. I'm not religious. I've never gone to church on Easter. But also the world is on fucking fire. Like maybe we can just enjoy a little Easter egg hunt. Maybe that's the joy people are getting right now.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I think the reason why I'm a bit off it, and I wasn't so off it last year, obviously if you were Christian, it's a very important time. I don't want to begrudge any Christians who are listeners from the actual meaning behind Easter, which is like, Jesus has come back to life. He's risen. The meaning is not that you get chocolate. But we've definitely overcooked it. And now for anyone who's not Christian, it's obviously just about the Easter bunny.
Starting point is 00:05:26 But like, it's just, it's the most consumerist and without it having any cause. Because like, what I mean by that is like, at least at Christmas time, you get the things you want. If you want an Omnilux mask, you can ask your husband for it. If you want a foot voucher or a spa or something, you can ask for the things that you want. Easter, you just get eggs and it's so much chocolate. It's so much.
Starting point is 00:05:47 But you don't have to have that much. What else do you do? Because if you don't have enough for them. The kids only get what they get and they've got nothing to compare it to. They're not on social media. You just give them what you want to give them. But that's the problem, right? The Easter egg hunt was over within half an hour.
Starting point is 00:06:01 I laid it all out. We put little like riddles up and stuff for the kids. They steam through it. Like, you know, once they actually figure out how to find them, they find all the eggs. And then after that, they've got a basket that is full to the brim of chocolate. The day's over. There's nothing else to do except eat the eggs. And then they're off their tits on sugar.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Like, in terms of it being a day that's enjoyable for everyone, it kind of loses a little bit of its meaning. And maybe I do sound like the Grinch of Easter. You do, you really do. But I really just this year was like, fucking bring me Christmas any day. I'm not about this. Laura's like, Easter's cancelled. We're never doing Easter.
Starting point is 00:06:36 The price of chocolate is going up. The world is on fire. Cacao is going up. So the price of chocolate is going up. I had, not to be grim again, I don't want to exaggerate. I did not speak to another human for four days. The whole Easter long weekend, it was just me and Delilah. The only people we spoke to was my cafe where I got my coffee from
Starting point is 00:06:57 and someone when I was on the bike, like at the gym. That was it. I did not speak to another human for four days. why why don't you call someone shut up I don't and I think this is I think actually do you mean you just didn't speak to someone because you didn't make any phone calls but like you mean in person no in person like I called my family they were all together like all my because my family lives the closest person to me is a five hour drive not on Easter long weekend so probably like seven to eight hours on Easter weekend with the traffic and then it goes upwards to 10 hours
Starting point is 00:07:30 drive so it's like I can't just pop up to see them but they're all there so like they all caught up together and I had somebody I put something up on Instagram exactly what I just said just saying like oh I'm alone for Easter went to get an Easter egg grim whatever a lot of people messaged me saying oh it's really nice to see you say that because I'm alone for Easter too and I think a lot of people forget and I had this real moment where I was like and I know I'm not single guys I get it but I also am and and I think a lot of people do forget the single people in these times and I'm not just talking about me but there are so many people that these kind of holidays are very couple oriented and family oriented. A lot of people do things. And I think it's really easy
Starting point is 00:08:07 to forget your single friends sometimes when maybe big groups of people catch up or you have dinners or whatever it is. It's very easy to forget them. And I'm not saying it about me, but this weekend was the first time in ages, in like years that I felt really lonely. And I, and I'm not a lonely person. I love my own time. And I said to Ben, I said, wow, I was like, this is a feeling I haven't felt in a long time. I was like, I feel lonely, especially because we've never had four days off in a row so I was like what do I even do with myself and every afternoon Ben was like what did you do today said same thing Delilah and I went and he's like did you talk to anyone I was like this makes me sound so sad but it was just a number of people that wrote as well that was
Starting point is 00:08:47 like I'm I'm alone this Easter as well and I thought oh that's a nice reminder for for people moving forward on holidays is to like think of the single people I think though with Easter in particular like it's a family holiday it's a it's a real family holiday like it's definitely you bunker down you go away for a long weekend like it becomes like very centered around children I feel like Christmas there's two versions of it you can kind of still have Christmas with your girlfriends or you can have Christmas as a couple if you just don't have kids like there's definitely different versions of what Christmas looks like whereas Easter if you are non-christian feels particularly family orientated based around Easter egg hunts with like cousins
Starting point is 00:09:26 and nephews and at least it is for us anyway and yeah I guess that's kind of why I was a little bit like what do we get out of it as the parents what's in it for me do you know what was one realization I did have though my partner had to work the entire weekend like he was on nights so he was literally out of the house or asleep for the whole weekend but I went and had a lunch with his friends on the Friday so you know how good Friday it's typically like you're supposed to have seafood and not supposed to have meat and stuff there was a moment that I realized that as far as I have come in my feminism journey and how much I stand up for equality it evaporates from my body the second that the prawns come out and the heads have to be pulled off I'm like that
Starting point is 00:10:06 is a boy job that is not a girl job I am not doing it I'm not standing there decapitating my food before I eat it I think I peel the prawns for Ben I'm that person I'm ripping the head off the tail off the legs yeah it makes me feel so squirmy like I will do DIY I will take the bins out I will do all of the like masculine energy jobs I will not decapitate a prawn I find that interesting because I would say in our household that that's something that falls on me and Matt's mum yeah like we're the prawn peelers there's always someone in your family that's there's always someone in the family that's a prawn peeler you're the trad wife I'm the clearly guys I mean I do scream trad wife like Matt get in the kitchen I put the best easter egg hunt on no my kid fuck
Starting point is 00:10:50 sorry I really did feel like a failed mum this weekend I know I did wait to your holiday house and had an easter egg hunt what more what is failing about that sorry this is what I mean by we put too much pressure on ourselves the standard is so high the standard is so high even Marley this is what she said to me so we finished the easter egg hunt and like like I said it was done by 7 30 they were doing the hunt and they were up and it was dark I was trying to prolong them for as long as possible the hunt was done by 7 30 they were already chowing into their eggs and Marley goes you know what mom she goes it's actually just not that exciting and I was like what part sweetheart and she goes I mean we're just in the house the eggs aren't even in
Starting point is 00:11:28 the garden because it was raining and she's like and those notes that are on the wall I mean they just look like dad wrote them oh were they from the Easter bunny the Easter bunny left riddles you need to send her to church so that she looks more forward to the Easter egg repent for your sins god damn it this is just the expectations we put on them that's when you just say this is it hun, this is Easter. Maybe we need to bring Lent back. Lent, you're supposed to withdraw from something for 40 days beforehand. Maybe if you made them withhold from chocolate for 40 days, the Easter egg hunt would feel more exciting. So they're finally getting that. It's like, what's the prolonged satisfaction? I mean, I think that all kids, but especially mine need that. Any
Starting point is 00:12:04 sort of resilience building would be good because honestly, by lunchtime, it was just meltdown after meltdown after meltdown all day. And I was just praying for the day to be finished. So I'm really sorry for anyone who's listening to this, who thinks that I'm the Grinch. Normally I love a festive season, but I think, I think Easter's not for me. And I think I've been lying to myself for a long time and I've just realized I hate it. I realized me just saying how grim mine was. I was like, I had four days to myself, not speaking to anyone. Laura's there going, that's my dream. She's like, what? You got to do what you want for four days? You had a fantasy weekend and I was inundated although think about it okay you all laughed at me when I said I have a hot take and
Starting point is 00:12:45 that's that Easter sucks not one of you sounds like you had a good Easter all of your Easter sucked too oh I I was relaxed I enjoyed eating the prawns do you know what it is I was very relaxed but because it's a time of holiday where everyone goes away I was just like I just didn't even have a friend here because they all went away so I did I just it was just a bad weekend in terms of like anyone that I know that I could have called was not here or not available or had their families or whatever so it's like I'm not I had a great relaxing weekend it was just a moment that drove home they're like you're gonna die last night I'm in my press on nail era so I've had nails like fake nails my whole life and they've absolutely annihilated my real nails so
Starting point is 00:13:34 and while we're filming maths every week is a different outfit I was like you know what I'm gonna get press on nails so that I can change them it's just literally glue on they're so good anyway so I've got these new ones and I was gonna put them on really late last night so I sat on my bed put my nails on so you put you put the glue in the nail and you put your glue on your nail and then you stick them on I did that put them down on the side turn the light off laid down went to sleep and now I sleep on my side bear with me I know Laura's like where is this going I sleep on my side in my beautiful mulberry thread sheets that we Keisha and I have spoken about before like they're the soft beautiful high-end luxury sheets anyway I sleep on my
Starting point is 00:14:14 side affordable and last and last night was we've done them as a vibe before they're great we vibed them before yeah anyway I sleep on my side and I last night was pretty cold well my house as you guys know if you follow me is always freezing and so like I had my hands up really close to my under my chin with the blanket tucked up anyway when I woke up when I woke up I tried to move my hands and every finger was stuck to the sheet every finger so the glue hadn't dried and I got into my sheet curled up went to sleep and I couldn't get my hands out I was glued 10 fingers to my beautiful high-end sheets and I was like what do I do you created your own straight jacket I was and I couldn't move my arms I could only move to like wherever I went the whole sheet just
Starting point is 00:15:04 followed me I was like it's like a fucking cape you fling it over your head and you wear a cape for the day I nearly had to wear a cape anyway so obviously all the glue had gone out the side when I stuck my nail on anyway I had to RIP I had to like rip the glue off the sheet so I ruined of my sheets but I but I did come here today without a cape and I was like fucking hell Brittany like why do I have to be so manic with everything like why can't I just be a normal person I'm just thrilled today that you came at least with all the nails on rather than like what happens halfway through records normally where one nail just goes flying I know that you're into your press on nail era but the press on nails don't seem to have as much gusto as what other
Starting point is 00:15:41 nails do and the amount of fucking nails that you flick around this place you know why because I'm so annoying I don't let it go when it should so like the nails have a lifespan and then you're supposed to take them off and then that's it but I just hang on for dear life because I love to get my money's worth from those $14 press-ons so like when one flicks off and it's usually time that they all come off I will just find and put it back on and so like you're not supposed to put I reckon this would probably whatever is flapping off your shoe right now they're dead look at them sorry this is a hot mess what is this episode my friend says to me all the time every time she looks at my life she's like people just think you're something you're not this is who i am
Starting point is 00:16:22 please go and watch this on youtube please go and watch this on youtube because sometimes brit comes across as though when she says my beautiful luxurious sheets and then you look at her foot and she's got what looks like a dead skin hanging off it but actually it's just her shoe is disintegrating as we speak it's actually disintegrating before our eyes because you know what I always say I'm always say you can't take the poor out of the girl so like that's what that's like my joke as a growing up so like these shoes there's nothing wrong with them when my foot's in it like they still get me around there is that thing that's hanging off that everyone can see on YouTube is actually vile let's fix that perfect wow sorry guys that's who I am if you guys think
Starting point is 00:17:00 I'm all posh and fancy it's I'm actually not I am actually not that person no what we're going to say though about the press on nails thing okay yes oh we're back yeah no just because I want to I want to complete this full circle you wear them until they die but what happens is now Brit just walks around carrying uh like emergency kit yeah well what's it called like um super glue so you walk around with super glue in your bag so anytime one flings off you stop down find it on the ground get out your super glue and re-stick it on and this is something that Brit does daily now this is just part of your normal routine I'm not ashamed no I know you're not you should be but I'm glad you're not.
Starting point is 00:17:35 And I think anyone out there that's in the same position as me, right on. What position is that? Who knows? I don't know. I don't know. I just think live your best life. Cape.
Starting point is 00:17:46 And I'm bringing my cape in. My sheet cape. Imagine if I came in with my cape on. I'm like, sorry, guys, I'm stuck to it. I'm stuck to my sheets. I had a really lonely weekend. It's just Brit stuck to her sheets. But I even called Ben this morning.
Starting point is 00:18:03 He's like, what's wrong, babe? I was like, babe. With Siri? Yeah, I was like, babe, I'm stuck to my sheet. He's like, what do you mean? I was like, I'm stuck in my sheets. He was so confused. It was a wild night.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Of course he was confused. No normal person thinks it's like a linear tangent to get to super glued to sheets by your fingernails. No one's going to arrive at that destination, Brit. Really? I can be super glued to my bed? He was so confused. Fucking no wonder. wait when I actually think about it it's even funnier I super glued myself to my bed
Starting point is 00:18:34 that actually sounds like a dream you're living my dream life Brittany let's change come and parent my children for a week I'll super glue myself to your bed imagine if that's how I died because no one found me because I super glued myself to my bed but I have no friends to come and save me oh dear you guys are all lucky I'm here something we haven't spoken about for a couple of weeks now which if you're not on the maths train you're probably thrilled about it but if you are we're almost at the end everyone don't worry we are almost at the end but we just did one of the final dinner parties with the whole experiment on after the dinner party and this season i mean you guys have probably noticed if you've been
Starting point is 00:19:17 watching it i think the thing that sets this season apart from other seasons is that there has been almost no drama that has come from the men apart from Tyson who was the the controversial participant at the very start who was only there for a week he was like the misogynistic sexist very problematic guy he was the guy who wanted a woman who was submissive yet did not know what the actual word meant so I mean he was there for a very short period of time apart from that the thing that has been I think really disappointing and so problematic about this season has been the intense bullying that we've seen like between participants and also the woman on woman drama like the women have been horrific to each other there's been this real sort of competition element
Starting point is 00:19:57 which has been an interesting thing to unpack and the behavior specifically from Gia and Beck has been some of the worst behavior that we've ever had on Married at First Sight in terms of as a series the show that we've been hosting it's called After the Dinner Party it's on Stan if you haven't seen it yet you can go and catch up on all of it we've been interviewing so many of the participants and like a lot of the time it's quite tricky conversations I know I said this a few weeks ago but one of the things that I was sort of the most nervous about has actually been the thing that I've enjoyed the most and that was I was a bit unsure about how we were going to go interviewing people whose opinions and behaviors we just simply don't agree with right like people
Starting point is 00:20:35 like Tyson people like Gia people like Beck and it's been kind of the thing that I've enjoyed the most about it is being able to have these like they're not confrontational but they're really holding people to account for the things that happen and really asking the hard questions. Yeah, we're basically Louis Theroux. Yeah, obviously. The same. Identical. Very similar.
Starting point is 00:20:52 But it's like asking the questions that you feel when you're watching the show anyway. Yeah, and that's what we finally got Gia on our show after the dinner party this week. You know, right to the end, we've invited her every single week and she never wanted to come. And I literally said exactly that to her. I said, your behavior and Bec's behavior is the worst behavior I have ever seen on TV in Australia. it's been three months of the same behavior and I was at the end now I'm just so disappointed in it
Starting point is 00:21:18 because I thought wow like this this is making women look insane in relationships and it's like doubling down to the problems that men say they already experience with women like I think we're just shooting ourselves in the foot and I think one of the things that you just said Brit has been what I would say has been the most disappointing about this season of maths the behavior from the women on the show has purely led into all of the unhealthy stereotypes that are cast around female behavior towards each other that we are competitive that we are bitchy to each other that we can be conniving all of the things that I would say I never see in my friendship groups all of the things the stereotypes that women that we know and that we support in the communities that we
Starting point is 00:21:59 build and we talk about it doesn't even touch the sides those behaviors and the fact that that is what has been I guess displayed and that these women have leaned into these tropes just feels like it feels like such a backward step from where we are heading it's not only leaning into these stereotypes for women in their friendships because a lot of the drama in this show has been between the women as friends it's leaning into these tropes of women in a relationship as well and I know it's only a small amount but if you haven't seen it there are a lot of ideas with some of the women in their relationships about being a kept woman and having the men pay for everything. A few little controlling moments from the women's side, saying you can't talk to this
Starting point is 00:22:40 other woman, don't sit next to her, don't, you know, I just feel like there was a lot of disservice towards us and we've done a lot of hard work as a society to get to a certain point. And I don't want to say it undid that because it hasn't because most women in Australia watching it don't feel that way. And a lot of them are up in arms at the level of bullying between the women. But I think what's happening is it's the men watching it being like, yes, that's like a confirmation bias.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Like, this is what I've been looking for. Women are hard work. Women do want me to be earning more money. And, you know, it's the wrong time for it to have happened on a whole season when we're also so deep talking about all this manosphere things, because I think that they play into each other. Yeah, I absolutely agree. And look, I mean, the reason why we're talking about this is because for seven weeks, we
Starting point is 00:23:23 have been trying to get Gia on the couch at After the Dinner Party. And we've been trying to have a conversation with her, I guess, around the behaviors, around like the lack of accountability, also like the incessant lying that's played out across the show. And I'm not just saying that we haven't just asked her seven times. She's been lined up to come. Like she's, it's been booked, it's been prepped, it's been planned. And then last minute she's pulled out of the interviews and sent everyone into a tailspin
Starting point is 00:23:47 in terms of organization. But this week, the episode came out on Monday. We had Gia on the couch. I found it fascinating speaking to her same and the reason for that is because I don't want to speak out of term and I guess I don't want to try and psychoanalyze someone when that is not my profession and I probably would do a disservice in doing so but I think that there are so many insecurities there and I think there's that whole adage of like hurt people hurt people when you are like a deeply insecure person when you need to be in a relationship to fill that sort of like
Starting point is 00:24:19 emotional gap that validation gap that you have I think that she displays all of those characteristics and the lying what I noticed and what I think I took from that interview and I'm sure a lot of people have encountered people who do this it's like I'll tell you one version of reality which is not necessarily a truthful version and then when you tell me a piece of information that you know that counters this I'll expand the lie to encompass that piece of information and they only give enough of the story and the story shape shifts depending on whatever information it is that you know as the second person in that conversation does that make sense so it's like they could say this happened and then you go but I know this to be true and they go oh well
Starting point is 00:25:00 and they stretch it a little bit well they fit it they find a way to fit it in yeah and they stretch it a little bit more and a little bit more that is exactly what she was doing on the couch and I think it really kind of like shines a light on how people communicate in relationships and like how people, I guess, like might tell a lie and then how they get trapped in their own lie rather than just being truthful from the outset. And I do think we've said it a hundred times, but as much as we say, like there were some really horrible scenes to watch throughout the season, at the end of the day, the conversations that come off of it are great. And one of the things with Gia and one of the things that we've spoken about here before and you Laura and a lot of
Starting point is 00:25:37 people do is this idea of monkey branching, because you do feel insecure and you need to feel loved and wanted and validated to feel okay in your life so Gia at the end of the show if you haven't seen it basically she left the experiment left her husband Scott and an hour later was on the phone with her alternate match so one of the scenes in maths is they get to meet who they could have been matched with and so they go to lunch and they spend one or two hours talking to that person and most people go into that and say hey nice to meet you thanks for coming I'm okay with my partner and they know it's a test yeah it's a test and so Gia at that point was saying she desperately wanted to be with Scott she wanted her partner to leave the show with her and they
Starting point is 00:26:21 could live happily ever after but then how did she get this guy's phone number well exactly so they ended up sliding into each other's dms on Instagram and and so long story short she leaves Scott an hour later she's on the blower to her alternate match then she leaves him and goes back to try and win Scott back and I think that that is where if we look a little bit deeper than just surface level of her of saying oh my god she's so mean like jumping between people and like yes she is but there are more deep things at play here and I think that's this idea of just needing to make yourself feel better so quickly so you go to a source that you know is going to do that and that's why we see her monkey branching to this other person
Starting point is 00:26:59 it's easy to take your pain away by going to feel wanted to somebody else yeah having her on the couch and speaking to her in the after the dinner party conversation I had this moment especially when she was talking about that Brit and I and I said it on the show when she you know we caught her out in this lie between breaking up with Scott and then instantly texting and getting in contact with her alternate match and then calling Scott again and this back and forth and I was like I understand that from the outset this looks awful like from the outset anyone watching this would think that it's so malicious and it's so like it's cheating it's lying like it's very pointed and malicious and I was like but I also get it because I've done it and I remember being in the
Starting point is 00:27:41 the chaos throes of a breakup and being so bereft and and spiraling in that sadness and messaging someone else because I just wanted the attention from someone else to make the pain that I was feeling stop and so like as someone who has been guilty of monkey branching in the past in feeling my hurt with someone else's attention I could see it instantly what she was doing and I was like I don't hate her for it I don't like want to be like let's all ride at dawn you know I guess it humanized her that's what ultimately I think when you step back and you look at these shows yes the behaviors are terrible but every single one of these participants are flawed people who are struggling in their relationships anyway who probably don't communicate very well hence
Starting point is 00:28:21 why they've you know been on these quite rocky relationship journeys and I just sat there with her and I was like I don't agree with it but I fucking get it okay well now we are moving on to territory that you do not want to be in if you don't want spoilers we are going to be talking about the final vows of married at first sight 2026 check out now that's that is your warning so there are four couples that made it to the end i mean to be honest i loved the episode like it was great but none of the outcomes of the couples came as an overall surprise to me like definitely some of the individual choices were a surprise and i know we'll get into that but like the actual outcomes that Alyssa and David aren't together, that Beck and Danny aren't together, and that
Starting point is 00:29:05 Rachel and Steven and obviously Stella and Philip, who we adore, the outcomes are not surprising to me by any means. Let's start off with David and Alyssa because David and Alyssa have been one of the strongest couples the whole season until like, what, the last week or two? There's been like a bit of a bait and switch and Alyssa's come out all guns a-blazing. She's not by all accounts happy in that relationship she seems to be like picking at stuff and fighting at stuff David has been like begging for her to be in this relationship he got on one knee to beg her back into the relationship not to get married but like David's been fighting for this relationship and so their final vows surprised me and didn't surprise me so they're in a beautiful location and David
Starting point is 00:29:49 goes first and he he reads his letter which is quite long and he chooses no he's not going to continue the relationship he's going to find his own voice because he feels like he hasn't been listened to the whole experiment and he says no and he walks away and I think the huge conversation we're going to see off the back of this is should he have walked away because he didn't just walk away from the relationship he literally did not let Alyssa do her vows so he delivered his walked away didn't say another word didn't look back it was like a very long dramatic walk and I know because I've also done it. Walked away, didn't look back and left and left Alyssa standing there and she didn't know what to do. So she said, fine, I'll just read my vows to myself. And I guess in
Starting point is 00:30:31 a way that was obviously reading to Australia because we needed some kind of closure to see what she was going to do in that situation. And she also chose to walk away. The discussion I think is going to be, and what I'd love to know from you, Laura, is do you think in that moment, David was disrespectful by walking away and not listening to her vows? Do you think he should have stayed and seen it through anyway? Do you think it was okay that he walked away, didn't look back? I think the overarching response to this is that people will be proud that he finally had a moment to have a voice for himself. And I don't think that people are going to look at that and think that that comes with him not giving her a chance. Because for anyone who's watched the last
Starting point is 00:31:11 few episodes and has been across what's happened in the last couple of weeks with their relationship specifically, there have been so many instances where he has tried to speak and Alyssa has motorboated over the top of him and spoken over the top of him, cut him off, not allowed him to have a voice and been really condescending in doing so. And then after she's cut him off multiple times, she'll say, why don't you tell me how you're feeling? Why don't you speak? So it's almost become comedic, I guess, in their exchange and in their communication style. Except not funny. Except not fun, not funny for him. And actually really sad how it's all kind of spiraled down.
Starting point is 00:31:44 And really for someone who, and for a couple that seems so strong at the start has really spiraled out of control I think that this will be the moment where everyone watching it is like power to him and finally standing up the only thing that I think is going to come as a probably a bit of a culture shock to Alyssa as a person is that thus far she's been really loved in this season and I think that the people have really loved them as a couple and I do think that she's going to have to deal with the emotional whiplash of having people feel as though she's changed or having people and I've been seeing it happen online people are sort of saying like oh that's the real her she's showing her real colors she was never invested in this relationship the
Starting point is 00:32:23 relationship was a lie and I guess it made me ask the question a little bit and this does also play into Danny and Beck's relationship as well do you think it's actually possible to fake a relationship for three months on this show I think personally it would take a very specific type of person to completely fake a relationship for three months to completely fake romantic interest in someone for three months. I could not fake romantic interest in someone. The thought of being physically intimate with someone who I don't have romantic feelings with is repulsive to me. Like I couldn't make myself kiss them. I couldn't make myself have sex with them. Like I physically would recoil if there wasn't some chemistry there. So it's an interesting concept to me because I
Starting point is 00:33:06 would think like, I don't know how someone would do that for that long. I don't know how someone could completely fake it. But Keisha, you're looking at me because you said that you reckon you could look I think it depends on what I would gain at the end of it like would I do it for like would I do it for reality tv no but if there was and I'm not saying that I would say they're really rich percent no like in an actual situation I've definitely slept with people that I haven't had like romantic interest in I've definitely slept with people that I haven't had as much chemistry with because I was looking at the other things that they had that I really liked you know and I was like, well, maybe the chemistry will grow or maybe, you know what I mean? Like I just,
Starting point is 00:33:46 it's not been absolute for me where I'm like, yeah, everyone I've slept with has been, I've been a hundred percent interested in. No, it's not that. And I do think Laura, I agree with you. If you're repulsed by somebody, sure, you're not faking it. But I think the term fake takes on a different meaning when we're talking about married at first sight. I don't think people or participants are necessarily faking it because they're repulsed, but I think they probably deep down know that that person's not for them and they're not going to choose them but they pretend they're making the decision a little bit longer to stay in the show because you are not if you are repulsed and hate somebody you are not kissing them you're not
Starting point is 00:34:19 sleeping with them you're not being intimate with them you're not sharing your life with them so I think what's happening is people know sooner rather than later that that person's probably not for them but they're like fuck it we're this close let's like let's ride it out for another four weeks and and I'll make my decision at the end whereas deep down I reckon they know and I think Alyssa I do not think that she faked that relationship I think she had genuine feelings for him but I think she's probably known a little bit earlier that he's not the one for her I think as you said it depends on what the currency is and in this experience when it comes to math specifically the currency is potential Instagram fame off the back of it and when you're in a relationship and
Starting point is 00:34:57 I say this is someone who came out of reality TV with a partner and now husband and Instagram fame well yeah like at instagram fame i mean to some extent but like think about the people who you know who are from reality tv relationship based reality tv majority of them are still in coupled relationships majority of people who have had longevity in terms of like social media fame so there is something to be gained from this i would say that there's people who you know go into relationships because there's a monetary gain i mean we've all seen the the stereotype trope of like young beautiful girls in relationships with like very unattractive old billionaires you know like there's a currency exchange that goes beyond just being attracted and having chemistry
Starting point is 00:35:40 with someone I just think for myself I would find it very hard to fake a relationship or fake intimacy or fake connection if it simply wasn't there so I think you're right I think it has to be there to some extent maybe just not to the magnitude of which they pretend like it is when they sit on the couch and they're all, you know. I also wonder if it's not just about what they gain, but it also might be about what they fear. They might fear that if they are honest about their actual feelings that are not as elevated as what the show would have liked for them to be, they might be fearful of the backlash that they'll get from people. So they're thinking about the storyline of like, oh, how is this going to pan out for me? If all of a sudden I'm like,
Starting point is 00:36:19 I'm just not into this anymore. They're going to ask why they're going to want, you know, like receipts of how I feel. And I'm going to have to be accountable for this switch that I've had, which can happen in like normal relationships. Everything can be super, you know, daisies and sunshine and rainbows. And then all of a sudden something just shifts and you're like, I don't know what it was, but I've just, I've lost that thing that I had. Keisha, your point is so true. Whenever there is a breakdown in a relationship, we want a villain. We want someone to blame. And so if you're the person who has lost feelings or lost interest, even if that is something that you can't control nothing wrong has happened it's just a natural progression of a relationship
Starting point is 00:36:56 breakdown you are perceived as not trying hard enough you didn't put in enough effort you weren't open to the experience like there's so many different ways in which it's interpreted as though you've done something that's morally bad just because you weren't able to form a connection with this person which statistically you get two random people in a room that have been matched together there's going to be a high percentage chance that that's not your chemistry match or your person and sometimes it's for a reason that you just don't know and I guess like it's why sometimes we have to be reminded in relationships that you could meet someone who's awesome you could be in an eight-year relationship with someone who treats you incredible who you have
Starting point is 00:37:32 a lovely connection with who is you know just the best guy or best girl ever and they're still not the girl or they're still not the guy and it's something about it that you can't place your finger on and you can't figure out why that you don't have the feelings that you wish you had for someone the problem is though in this environment with maths is that if you don't have those feelings and that person is loved by Australia you are by default a villain they also are trying to get out of this unscathed from a personal brand perspective and not be cancelled by Australia who thinks you didn't try hard enough or you broke up with that person for the wrong reasons or whatever it is it makes that breakup so much harder I think I've even done this on a personal level though and like
Starting point is 00:38:12 that's what I mean I kind of want to backtrack to when you were like do you think you could kind of fake it and I said well it depends on what for like do I think I could mask in a relationship fuck yeah I've masked in every aspect of my entire life I think I could definitely lean more heavily into a particular side I've been in situations where I've wanted to break up with someone and I've been like fuck you haven't actually done anything wrong so we stayed for a year like it's not even about how the public is going to perceive me it's how that person and our friends and stuff are going to perceive me because I've been like I'm just not in this anymore like I just I don't know what it is but I feel differently and I feel like that's not a good enough reason to tell you
Starting point is 00:38:49 the idea of you are so perfect just not perfect for me doesn't float at this point of it you need some validation as to why you said no to that perfect person I think with Alyssa and David I don't think Alyssa faked it by any means I believe it from the start that there was interest there they're both good looking objectively very good looking people they're both like health and fitness they seem to get along really well I just think she checked out a lot earlier and thought well I've come this far like let's see it out but I think she probably knew her answer earlier and I that was evident an episode or two ago when he was begging her back and he was apologizing he's like I fucking love you like let's make this work and she gave him nothing he poured his heart
Starting point is 00:39:29 out and that was the moment where I thought you already know you already know that you somebody cannot emotionally be on one knee begging you apologizing saying all the right things saying he's going to be the best partner for you really showing up saying you love him and you look at him and say should we go back to the group you know like for me I was like oh cool it's not going to be surprised that you're going to say no that's obviously why they let David do his vows first and I wasn't sure which way he was going to go I wasn't sure if he was going to stay on that I'm still going to fight for you or if he had had enough the fact that he said no and then walked away and didn't let her speak makes me think that there has to be more going on behind closed
Starting point is 00:40:12 doors because I think in a way it was disrespectful that he didn't just sit there and let her talk because he still could have had that moment of walking away at the end he could have said it's like I'm done but I get he was making a statement as well and at the end of the day he can do what he wants he felt the need to take his power back and have his voice heard it just makes me think it was probably 10 times worse behind closed doors for him to do that and I think that took Alyssa by surprise I think it's just a move straight out the love is blind like playbook the most impactful totally yeah you see them and if both of them are going to say no they always let the person that they think the public are going to side with go first. And then that person
Starting point is 00:40:45 walks back down the aisle and the other person is left standing there and they look like they've been rejected. Like, and they're always butthurt because they're like, oh, now my ego is that I didn't get to reject them. You know, it's not really about the closure of actually getting to say something to them. It's just the fact that you want to be the person who gets to reject the other. I felt for it just because if that was me, I'd be like, fuck, I wanted to break up with you first like you want to be the person that does it first because that's the person that has the power and that choice is taken from them because it's they don't flip a coin and they don't go do you want to go first or do you want to go first no the producers know yeah they walk in and they say
Starting point is 00:41:21 David will be doing his vows first and then Alyssa you'll respond and so like her like still doing the vows was a little bit of still playing up to the theatrics I don't think that helps the narrative of like did you fake this for the camera I I'm glad she did it because I would have if she didn't I would have wanted to know what she had to say and I would have wanted to know what her answer was so I'm glad she did it and I think I think Australia probably needed that moment I mean no one's shocked that she said no but I wanted to hear the way she said it the thing about maths as well is is and I think it really it sort of takes them out of the experiment a little bit and you know breaking that sort of fourth wall is the fact that they
Starting point is 00:41:57 have been locked in this experiment for three months they have been living with this person for three months and then before final vows they have a week away they go back to their normal lives. They're removed from the relationships. They're not meant to be speaking to each other, I don't think. I'm sure that they do. But I think that having that separation and coming out of an experience like reality TV actually makes you go, whoa, oh, that's right. There's other things that I care about. I have my normal friends. I have my normal life. There's other humans in the world that I find attractive. You can kind of reassess and recalibrate a little bit. And specifically in terms of Alyssa and David's relationship the way in which Alyssa behaved at the last dinner
Starting point is 00:42:37 party where she was so dismissive of him after he said that he loved her she was checked out she was rude she didn't care about his emotional well-being like she was just like I don't care so I think him having this time of like a week away to go hold on what is it that I'm actually fighting for a person who belittles me and doesn't want to be with me maybe I don't want this relationship after all. I loved that David fought for her. And I love that he was really honest with how he felt for her the dinner party before. And he was like saying, I will do anything to make this work and begging for her because we always say that, right? Like shoot your shot, leave everything out there and fight for what you want, but there has to be a limit. And this was him taking his respect back
Starting point is 00:43:20 because he can't be seeing groveling, getting nothing and then triple groveling and still getting nothing I don't want to say a bit pathetic but like he put it out there and he got his response and he acted accordingly and I even Ben was watching it and Ben said mate get up and like when he was on his knee begging Ben's like stop it you've put it out there and you've let her know and she doesn't want it hear me out though hear me out okay and maybe this is a bit of a controversial take Alyssa asked multiple times at that dinner party for him to stop professing that he loved her she said please can you stop I feel the way I feel and I'm I'm I am hurt and I don't want to be having these conversations right now please can you stop and he kept going and he kept going
Starting point is 00:44:05 and he kept going and he kept telling her how he felt and he kept telling her he was sorry and he kept trying knowing full well how that's going to be framed on a tv show like she's now cold and shut off and he's the groveling puppy that the labrador that's so desperate to be loved that's getting kicked when he's down does that not also play into this stereotype does that not also further villainize her she's asked him to stop she's laid down a boundary saying please stop saying this please stop publicly saying it in front of everyone how much you love me no because it wasn't saying public i know what you're saying and i i want to agree with it but i think it's different for elisa in this situation because she wasn't saying stop saying you love me she didn't
Starting point is 00:44:43 want a bar of him at all so the second he walked in it's the second she walked in sorry he was like hey do you want to talk and she was like not now she goes no no not she did not want it from the moment and you have to look from his perspective if he didn't say anything everyone would have been like well you didn't fight for her like what are you supposed to do I don't think he did anything wrong except maybe once he laid it out there the first time that should have been enough so when she was like please that's enough now I guess the professing could have stopped in that moment I think that that's where I do think it comes into a gray area because she did ask him to stop and he didn't. And that allowed him to victimize himself more in that. I really do think that
Starting point is 00:45:20 this comes down to a case of something that we've all experienced or seen in relationships where you can have someone who is perfect on paper. Britt, you've heard it yourself. Perfect on paper, like a wonderful person. You're in a great relationship, but there is something missing and you cannot figure out why that thing is missing. And you feel like a fucking asshole because realistically, you know that they're probably great for you. And if only you could will your body and your mind into actually wanting to be in a relationship with that person but for some reason whether it's the chemistry or something there is something lacking and it is okay to leave those relationships as well like it doesn't make you a bad person because you can't
Starting point is 00:45:58 will yourself into loving someone who seemingly is great for you okay let's keep this train going beck and danny well i think it's the same question around beck and danny and that is the question around whether you can fake a relationship or not there's been more accusations that have been held at Danny recently that he like held on for way longer than he was actually emotionally invested in the relationship just so that he could see it to the end. I think that it's a very, very similar outcome to what we saw with Alyssa and David. I don't think he necessarily faked the relationship, but I think he wasn't honest about where he was at. He certainly wasn't at a point where he was willing or ready to marry her. But at the same time, I think that Beck's behavior has
Starting point is 00:46:35 been so deplorable and questionable that I don't think anyone could have gotten to the end of that experiment and been blindly in love with that person I think it's understandable that the doubts were so profound for him I don't know he was honest the whole experiment he was honest he said from the start don't have a lot of sexual chemistry the whole way through he said your behavior is turning me off I'm not there yet I would go as so far as to say he was very honest I just think where he bent the truth was when he would say I can see myself with you I think that was the lie I don't think he could ever properly see himself with her afterwards and I think that's the part that he was hanging on for because he was really he always laid his feelings out there
Starting point is 00:47:14 and I quite like Danny I think he's a very likable charismatic character and I just think he checked out way fucking sooner than Beck and so here we are now at their final vows and Beck does hers first and she says yes she's in love which we know she is hopelessly obsessed with Danny she has wanted this relationship the whole time and as much as she's been an absolute savage bully to the other women the one thing that she was obsessed with was her relationship with danny and he said no and he left her absolutely heartbroken it was a very very emotional thing to watch beth devastated she was very obviously genuinely hurt by the breakdown of that relationship and danny walking away she was sobbing but i don't think australia will have the level of
Starting point is 00:48:02 empathy or sympathy for her that you normally have when you see someone who is that hurt and the reason for that is because her behavior has been so horrible throughout this experiment and throughout the whole of this series the way in which she's treated other women in this experiment just her insecurities that are bubbled to the surface i think that it will stop people from having the compassion or the empathy that normally they would have for someone who's that heartbroken and if anything people will be like fucking thank god danny you escaped that which would make it even worse and even harder to actually come to terms with when you're going through what would feel like a really a very real breakup because yes it's reality tv but these people lived it
Starting point is 00:48:40 and they have all these feelings and they're very real and hence that's why we're invested there is something very unique about being in that hurt and having no one care about that hurt or not care about it in the way that you do i get it i still felt for her seeing her there sobbing when she get the rejection like personally yeah I I lived that experience it's funny it's funny when she exactly the way she acted when she got dumped almost word for word was what I said I sat there in silence and I also said okay that's it didn't say anything walked away yeah but the sobbing is what the producers wanted from you I didn't cry but I I did as much as she's been horrible like I didn't completely lack empathy like I had that moment where I
Starting point is 00:49:23 thought wow even though you have been a horrible bully to everyone else she still truly loved him and I don't think there was anything fake from that I wonder how much of that was mixed up with the fantasy of just wanting a successful relationship as to wanting that person because by all accounts and all means he didn't show up and deliver in the relationship the way that she wanted a relationship to be but it can be a bit of Stockholm syndrome when you're in there and you are so obsessed with the fantasy and the idea of what you will be as a couple and then we'll have this amazing love story we came from this tv show and you know so I do wonder if I think for her and maybe it'll take her a little bit of time to figure out a mix of she did have strong feelings for him
Starting point is 00:50:02 but she also likes the idea of what it could have been she was genuinely blindsided when you watch her response she was expecting him to say yes which makes me wonder what on earth he's been telling her to get to that point I think that that's a really relatable feeling though and often when you are I think particularly for me it was when I got into my later 20s when I wanted to have that more serious long-term relationship, when things would break down, I would be so devastated. And now looking back on it in hindsight, I don't know if I was as heartbroken about the specific person, but I think it was about the idea of someone and the future that I wanted to create with someone that was maybe the thing that actually had me more heartbroken
Starting point is 00:50:40 and more sad. Well, I think when we interviewed Matthew Hussey, he put it so perfectly. Some of the biggest and the hardest parts of a breakup isn't about losing the person. It's about losing the potential that you believed in for that relationship it's about all the things that you believed you had potential for not actually what you were experiencing and I would absolutely say that that's the case for everyone who does this show because you're only in this experiment for three months which really is a long time to invest every day of your life to something but it's the potential for what life will be like once it finishes and then you stand there at the end of this moment and realize that this person after spending three months of investing every
Starting point is 00:51:19 minute of the day into you doesn't want you like what a fucking heartbreak that is it's the same for the end of the bachelor it's the same like any of these shows that end with like making a decision at the end of it it's i mean brit you know it's not nice preaching to the choir here yeah it's like there's not many people that can relate i can't i've literally lived it but i can i can relate to the fear of it i mean my oh do you know why i say this because i mean you guys know obviously the ending with Matt was fucking nine years ago now but I was told he didn't choose me I spent the whole day dealing with the feelings of not being chosen I'd already spoken a decade of dealing with the feelings I wasn't chosen not the prospect of not being chosen mine was a real
Starting point is 00:52:03 emotional bait and switch that actually turned out for the best but it's a weird one because I always thought there's no way it can be as real as what we see it on the show right right these people are putting on the dramatics they're putting on the fighting it's all like dramatized and amplified but when you're actually in it it's so fucking real like I have never had a more real relationship or felt more the relationship wasn't real at the time but my feelings were real like I was so in it that it actually frightened me because I didn't expect that I would be able to feel that much for someone in that environment so I do believe it I believe all these people who are having these like big and very fierce reactions it's because they're trying to deal with it in
Starting point is 00:52:43 real time with a fucking camera in their face it's a lot the only other thing that I would say is and it's another thing that Beck said that I said that replicated that was the idea of this sunk cost fallacy I've wasted three months the idea that we've put in so much time and effort the least you could do is try but then do what's the point of continuing and trying just because you put the time in when you know it's not going to work because you're just going to lose that time anyway and that was a hard lesson that I had to learn that was for the best because in my mind I thought just try man like just give it a go but why would you if the fucking poor guy was certain that he didn't want me and hindsight's a wonderful thing I can see that now and I think
Starting point is 00:53:22 that's another thing that Beck was going through too she's like fuck I just did three months of my life which you know do you want to then go into a fake relationship maybe maybe she did but well it kind of circles back to what we said about Alyssa maybe prolonging things because she was it was not so much about what she was going to gain after the show it was about what she had to lose and so maybe she just was too fearful of what the outcome would be if she just completely cut things off you know as soon as her feelings actually shifted yeah i know but part of me is like if you want to do the reality dance well just stay together and break up six months down the track where people don't care as much don't break up or 10 years down the track when laura's
Starting point is 00:54:01 contract runs out three children it's gonna be okay okay i feel bad now steamrolling through this part because we've sat so much in the drama but we've had two love stories which is also I mean that's pretty good odds right two out of what was it 12 I don't know anyway Rachel and Stephen who they had quite an awkward relationship the whole time there was some oh fuck off when she yes they did they fucking did when the most awkward moment of my life through the screen and I just felt so much for Rach because they're both great people individually there were just awkward moments and it was all from steven like steven's awkward it's not rach rach that one moment midway where she was blindfolded in intimacy week and she held up the sign kiss me
Starting point is 00:54:45 that said all i want you to do is kiss me like you mean it and steven stood there in silence and she's blindfolded keish she's saying kiss me with signs like love actually you know how they go through the signs oh yeah the even more awkward situation of the friend who's trying to Mochi's mate's wife. But that was the idea, right? She'd written on these signs and she's blindfolded and they hadn't kissed yet and she wanted a kiss. And so she was there in silence, blindfolded,
Starting point is 00:55:11 and the sign said, kiss me and make me feel something. And then he sat there in silence and then he said, it's actually burnt into my brain, verbatim, I can kiss you but I can't promise you'll feel anything. I'm recoiling in my body. And they stayed together. And then she had to take the blindfold off and walk and she was like, okay, this is so,
Starting point is 00:55:30 It was the most awkward moment I've seen on reality TV. But that was their challenge of Married at First Sight was finding the intimacy and the connection and, you know, he hadn't been in many relationships and she was gorgeous. Like she helped him through that so much and she was very patient and they got their happy ending, which I think is really sweet. But then the big drum roll, Stella and Philip got engaged. Like real life engaged.
Starting point is 00:55:53 Like a genuine happy couple that came off the back of this. So from all of the drama between the women and all of the fucking like the throes of the controversy that happens off the back of maths like it's so nice when there's actual real life stories i know we had jules on recently who's obviously married to cam and martha's just had another baby like there are real couples that come out of this i think that that's why i have such a soft spot for i don't know it's like it's so nice that there's we still have a reality show in australia where real couples can actually come off the back of it and they've all they've moved in together they're really real they had no issues except slight
Starting point is 00:56:27 vasectomy issue but they've had no issues the whole of married first sight they're emotionally in tune they're mature they're great people so they're a beautiful love story and i'm actually i wasn't expecting him to drop a knee and properly propose and it was i cried watching it it was it was fucking i love love we love love and so that is it for maps but we have two more episodes of after the dinner party so there's like a big reunion that happens on married at first sight I live for reunion episodes. Like no matter what reality TV show it is, I usually tap out about halfway through and then I just come back
Starting point is 00:57:00 for the reunion. That's just coming for the spoilers. No, it's great. It just summarises. I don't have time. Because it's always reunions are juicy. Also, we're doing an After the Dinner Party reunion episode and then we're also doing another bonus episode afterwards,
Starting point is 00:57:12 which is a Where Are They Now? So it's unpacking like all of the fucking stories that have been coming out and like everything that surrounds what their life is like, you know, almost a year later after filming finished. Yeah. So two big episodes to come. And then no more Married at First Sight until next year. Anyway, guys, it is time for Suck and Our Sweet,
Starting point is 00:57:30 our highlight and our lowlight of the week. Britt, what was your suck of the week? Surely it's getting glued to my bed. Surely. Nothing's trumping getting glued to my bed. I never thought I'd be able to say that. So anyways, it's getting glued to my sheets. No, my actual suck is I just found out something disastrous.
Starting point is 00:57:46 I've used the same foundation since I was like 16 years old. S-A-L-O-R-D-O-W-F. It is so good. Obviously, like when I get makeup done, whatever, like I dabble in other stuff and I have some lighter stuff when I just want to put a cream on, whatever. But like that's been my staple for so long and my makeup artist messaged me last night and she's like,
Starting point is 00:58:05 heads up, they're changing the formula. Devastating. No, it's actually. Are you and me okay? I don't know. I've never been able to like something else. So my sweet is I went online and bought like five foundations last night because I'm too worried they're going to sell out.
Starting point is 00:58:20 So I stockpiled my foundation. Doesn't foundation have a shelf life though? I hope not. It's been opened. I hope not. No, I think once it's open, I think it just needs a good shake. I say a lot of double wear is like cement going on your face. So I don't think it's going to expire.
Starting point is 00:58:33 All right. Well, look, my suck for the week was we did go down to Aladala for the weekend and it rained almost every day that we were down there. And then I spent majority of the four days of Easter cleaning like a, what's that green moss? Is it called lichen or lichen? Black mold. but it's it's fucking bold okay black mold and green mold off brickwork so i spent four days
Starting point is 00:58:53 cleaning brickwork did you have a high pressure yeah but it's it's in there man we had to go it's in there man we had to anyway it's it's no one cares let's we don't need to get into the detail here you could have invited me down to high pressure hose with you it would have been the best weekend ever keisha i did think of you whilst i was every time i do get a high pressure hose out now i'm like keisha wouldn't do it i actually get multiple messages per week now of life as high pressuring I got one last week it was a video and it was like I hope this brings you joy and I was like this actually brought me the most joy I've had today thank you okay well look next time I'm gonna invite you down you can stay for free so long as you high pressure a wall
Starting point is 00:59:28 deal done okay and my sweet for the week is Poppy is crawling like properly knees up underneath and she's on the move which is also kind of a suck but it's so fucking cute and I it's weird having a third kid with a gap in between and the reason for that is because it's just such a reminder how quickly it goes and I know everyone says it to you when you have a baby it's the most annoying thing oh they go so quickly yeah enjoy it it goes so fast and when Marley and Lola were little and people would say that to me I found it deeply frustrating because I was like no these it goes so slowly I can't wait for them to sleep through the night but now that I have the reference of them being in school and them being a little bit older and i look at poppy and she has changed so
Starting point is 01:00:13 much in the past six months like it blows my mind that six months has already gone almost seven months well she was in your belly yeah so that's a big change yeah so much but like everything everything about like her capabilities and then so like i just don't feel like i sweat the small stuff with having number three and seeing her crawl i was like oh i love this phase like this is cool we're in a new i know we have to get baby gates and everything else but it's really that's my sweet anyway guys that is it from us
