Starting point is 00:00:00 A Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. This episode is recorded on Gadigal land of the Aurora Nation. Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut Radio Show. So I'm Brittany. I'm Laura.
Starting point is 00:00:46 I'm Mitch. And we had the beautiful, divine Mitch Turi. Don't you try to suck up. You threw me under the bus on the show this week. I was just going to tell you how lovely your jumper is, which was on sale on ASOS. But yes, I didn't throw you under the bus. But what I did just realise is that that jumper is one of the purchases you did keep from ASOS, not one of the ones that you returned
Starting point is 00:01:06 to the receptionist downstairs. No, I feel like people can relate to this because I just use the reception here at KISS to send back all my products. And I don't just do ASOS. You just saw ASOS, but I do heaps. Also, when my Uber Eats arrives, I have set it up so Daisy, the receptionist, will go, hey, mate, your roll's here. I go, thanks, Daisy, put it in the fridge.
Starting point is 00:01:21 You know, she brings it up for you, doesn't she? I didn't want you to say that in front of, oh, my God, the stickler over here. Yeah, I've been here before. They've brought it up. They've brought it up to you. Okay, this is the thing that we're unpacking on the show. It's very silly, but it's a real thing, and I think we all do it.
Starting point is 00:01:37 It's what perks at your work, not even a perk, what do you abuse at your work? Well, it's not a perk if you steal it. Are you stealing stationery from the stationery cupboard? Are you using the printer to print things that you shouldn't be printing? Stealing milk or bread. Are you printing your handsome posters at work? Well, are you printing your kids' birthday invitations?
Starting point is 00:01:54 I don't know, but there's so many things that people use and abused from their workplace that if their bosses found out, they probably would get a little slap on the wrist. They're the things that we're talking about. Did you pay for that Tony May around your necklace? Around your necklace? I did pay for the Tony May, but I only paid the cost price. Well, I don't know if you pay if it's your brand, do you?
Starting point is 00:02:12 No, my sister always tells me to stop stealing stock. So, yeah, I think you do. Guys, we also have some really fun guests on. We have Carla from Bankstown. Carla is on Celebrity Apprentice at the moment. We've also got another guest. We also have Jock Zonfrillo from MasterChef, who is one of the MasterChef judges.
Starting point is 00:02:27 And some of you guys might be familiar with his book that he brought out, which is The Last Shot. It's very, I mean, it's his own biography. It's his life from his experience as he knew it. And I know that there's been some controversy around the book, but we're talking about his experience on the show and also doing a very strange little game where he had to guess some very, very, very weird food-related items.
Starting point is 00:02:49 And he did well. I mean, he got one of them right. Yeah, he got two. Oh, we gave him three, I think, in the end. We were very generous. He was like, does it have some sort of cream? We're like, yes, you can make that. All right, well, that is it.
Starting point is 00:02:59 It is all coming up on the show. The star of Celebrity Apprentice, star of social media, we all know her as Carla from Bankstown, a.k.a. Ben, joins us on the line now. Hey, Ben. Hello. How are you guys? Do we have Ben or Carla?
Starting point is 00:03:14 This is Ben. Carla is sleeping. She's very tired today. Okay, this is my question. How do you decide when are you going to be Ben and when are you going to be Carla? Like, what's the rules of engagement? it just depends like sometimes like obviously with all the press that i've been doing for like
Starting point is 00:03:28 celebrity apprentice they're always like oh we want to talk to carla we want to talk to carla and yeah most of the time and you know what it's so much easier to do phone interviews with carla because a lot of the time they're like can we get you to come into studio and do an interview as carla yep cool i get there and the interview goes for five minutes and then they're like okay thanks so much have a nice day and i've spent like three hours doing makeup carla this is how every woman feels when she leaves the house for five minutes of the day and they're like I got so ready for this date and it was a waste of my time. Ben, I want to know because you did sort of shoot into the social media world in the last year or two
Starting point is 00:04:03 and all of a sudden you're everywhere. You're on Celebrity Apprentice. Laura and I haven't got a call up for Celebrity Apprentice, so we're not mad about it. We're not celebrities. But what did you do? What was life like before you became Carla and before you became this social media sensation? I mean, I was just working like full time at JB Hi-Fi. I literally was just doing that and I just got really bored with what I was doing.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And I was just really depressed because I was just like working all the time. And then obviously, like I started doing the Carla stuff, the pandemic kit, which was great for me. And then lockdown hit, which was even better. So then I didn't have to go to work and I could just do Carla videos full time. And now I'm like an SPD. I'm everywhere. You can't get rid of me. Ben, when you first got into doing drag, what was the why behind it?
Starting point is 00:04:45 I mean, look, I've always done characters, and I've always done voices, and there's a few, like, really old videos of me on YouTube, like, with other characters that I've done. I think one of my other characters I've done, her name's Lazy Suze, and she does, like, a cooking show, and I started doing that. It was, like, cooking with Lazy Susan. A lot of people, obviously, being on a mainstream television network like Channel 9, they kind of have to, I guess, market it as a drag queen, just so, I guess, people can understand that that's what I'm doing. Whereas I feel like, not to say that I don't fall into that category of being a drag queen, but I feel like it's more a character-based kind of thing. Like, you know, Chris Lilley when he does Jermay or just, you know, that kind of thing. It was just something that I used my comedy for to kind of get through all the bullying and all that kind of stuff that kind of helped me get to a good place within myself. You know, because if you can't laugh at yourself, you know, how are you going to laugh at anything else?
Starting point is 00:05:40 That kind of thing. So true. So true. I want to know, Ben, because you've spoken to me privately about your dad and, you know, your car from Bankstown, which, if you're not from Sydney, is out west, right? It's not anywhere near the city. You said he was supportive of you doing the drag, but, you know, for a dad out in the west, all he said to you was, buddy, make sure you're successful. Make sure you make something of it. And now that you are, how does he feel?
Starting point is 00:06:01 Oh, they love it. They just, like, they're still saying to me, like, you know, can you clean the dishes just because you think you're a celebrity doesn't mean you can't get out of the housework. I never once said to you that I was a celebrity, but sure. I mean, you're on Celebrity Apprentice. I think the name says it all. Or do you turn around and say, no, Carla can't do the dishes, but Ben can do the dishes? Or I just say no.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Sorry. No is a complete sentence. Ben, it is Pride Month this month, and are you doing anything in particular to celebrate? I've got a couple of gigs coming up soon for Pride Month we're doing. I'm performing at Pooftop in Sydney on the 18th of June, which is going to be super fun. Sell those tickets.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Wow, I love it. And you'll hear this. This is Carla's brand-new song, Gronks. That is what you'll get at Pooftop. It is pride, man. That is so good, Carla. Such a hit. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:06:57 We're so proud of you. The new song, Gronks, is out now. You can stream it everywhere. Plus, Carla has her new line of merch. You can get it on Threadheads if you want to have a buy. Yeah. We're very sad that you're no longer on Celeb Apprentice, but we look forward to being at Pooftalk very soon.
Starting point is 00:07:10 You know what? I wouldn't say never say never with Celeb Apprentice because you might see me coming back very soon. Oh! Maybe. Spoiler! Who knows? Might be around again at some point.
Starting point is 00:07:22 You know, Lord Sugar loves me, so we'll see what happens. We'll be watching our TVs with anticipation. Thanks, Ben. We love you. Thanks for coming on. Thanks, Ben. Love you guys. What are you doing right now?
Starting point is 00:07:31 Bit sure there's something that I want to talk about right now, And it's something that you just did. Oh, no, we don't move on. It's an intervention. We need to talk about something. I walked into the office here at ARN. Downstairs, there's a lovely receptionist who works downstairs. Daisy, we love Daisy.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And Mitch Turi walks in with two massive bags from ASOS. It's like a Santa. He had like two Santa sacks of clothes. I did, they were big, yeah. Except that he was returning it to Santa. You know when you buy something online and then you send it back in the same bags? Yes. Instead of Mitch taking it to the post office or to a red box or a yellow box or wherever you take it to, Mitch walks in to the receptionist, nothing printed on them, and says, hey, Daisy, can you just take these back?
Starting point is 00:08:10 No, I didn't. No, I didn't. And I think this is... In your lunch break. Yeah. This is abusing the work perks. No, listen, they have a courier service that comes because we're a radio... Now I'm lisping.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I don't have a lisp, but now I'm so under pressure, I've developed a lisp. We have a courier service because we're a radio station. We send out prizes all the time. So the postman comes to us. Okay, question. Who's going to print off that little label that you have to stick on for the returns? Well, it'll be Daisy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:36 But I've emailed it to her. All she has to do is click print. Black and white. You know, save the ink. Oh, actually, we are throwing you under the bus, but I didn't know you had a courier service. I might start to bring my stuff here to print to send off now. Oh, yeah, guys, you can. Brittany, I can hook you up.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Daisy's lovely. I'll give you her email. Give me an intro. She's really good. But everyone does this. It's work perks. I mean, to be fair, I don't know if you guys know, but I, every week, I send a whole bunch of stuff i need printed ahead of time to the producer here to produce keisha and i get her
Starting point is 00:09:03 to print it i'm talking like 40 50 pages sometimes like sometimes there's scripts sometimes there's advertising i'm all for that yeah that's smart i don't who has a printer at home nobody has a printer at home unless you have a home office and then you might have a printer but i feel like this is okay i know that i'm teasing you mitch i think that everybody in their workplace has some sort of work perk that they abuse what would you do with tony may the jewelry do you get free earrings all the time no but i i'm with brit what i used to do when i used to work in an office so i was doing tony may on the side as my side hustle yeah but i used to go into work early and print off all my pamphlets and all of my line sheets and stuff for tony may from my work printer but
Starting point is 00:09:41 i think this is pretty standard like even when i used to work at the pizza store yep i worked at a pizza store i just used to like i turned into a pizza i used to eat that much pizza or i would charge myself a ham and pineapple pizza but that would be loaded with prawns or there would be you Like a stationary cupboard. Everyone has something that they take. I will say, while we're in the mood, I did actually cause a monumental rift at the radio station. We have a drinks fridge, which you guys raid every show.
Starting point is 00:10:05 We go down. I'm right here with my popper. Yeah, Laura Byrne, mother drinking her popper. We talk about that later. Every single show. What do you have, Brittany? You get a Sprite Zero. Yeah, I'm always Zero Sugar, whatever is in there with Zero Sugar.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Super health conscious. On Fridays, I would fill my backpack up with drinks, and then I'd walk out and have to tiptoe because it sounded like a semi-trailer movie, and they had to install a camera. because of me and everyone's going that that person that ruined it for us all i'm like yeah let's find them and let's get them can you just steal it and then have a party like throw a party on the weekend you realize that this is a national radio show and everyone's going to know that oh shit i just forgot we want to know though i want to know what do other people steal from
Starting point is 00:10:44 their workplaces or what do they get away with what do you take advantage of your workplace yeah give us a call we'll get you on the air let's go to chloe on 131065 chloe what do you take advantage of in your workplace hi so i work um full-time remotely from home so i don't have any like face-to-face office time um and so i'm helping a friend with an event that she's running in vietnam in september and we decided uh in may to go over and do some prep but i just worked remotely from vietnam because so what happens when you have to jump on like a skype meeting call or something do you just do that thing where you blur the background i have a background on all the time anyway.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I mean, that's the whole thing from working from home though, isn't it? Yeah. That is the real work perk. You can do it from anywhere. Amen. Let's go to Hayley on 131065. Hayley, what's your work perk you took advantage of? I occasionally nick the rolls of loo paper for home when I've run out.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Did this start in the pandemic when there was a shortage or is this something you've done for a long time? No, it started because I'd just moved interstate and I was really kind of short on money, like literally $200 left in my account. I just didn't want to buy loo paper. What kind of, what level of ply are we talking? Four ply, six ply, eight ply?
Starting point is 00:12:01 Oh, it's never good in the workplace. It's just thin. No, it's not bad. It's not like the really thin, it's not like the massive roll. Maybe your standards for toilet paper has just gone down so far because all you're doing is stealing it now. Vegas can't be choosy. From the public toilet.
Starting point is 00:12:16 You've never had the good stuff, Hayley. So she doesn't know what it feels like. All right, wrap it up. Rose on 131065. Rose, what's your work perk you're taking advantage of? Oh, well, when I need a break, when I know that Lifetime Cat's coming on air, I take my phone and my headset, my Bluetooth,
Starting point is 00:12:31 into the toilet and listen to the girls and have my little gills in the toilet. But when someone walks in, I've got to be quiet and not pretend that I'm just doing my business. That's not a work perk. But also, Rose, you know that like our average episode length is like an hour. How long are you taking in these toilets? Well, you know, it depends how bored I am or how, you know, what mood I'm in.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Right, Rose is like, guys, Indian last night again. Diaries, sorry, got to go. Nothing makes me happier, Rose, than knowing that you listen to us while you take your most private moment. Thank you so much. Yeah. And even, you know, even if I don't have the private moment, I just go in anyway. It's just a good excuse to get away from it. Do you know, if some people can have smoko breaks,
Starting point is 00:13:16 you can have an extended toilet break. I agree. Poo on the clock, everybody. Take that from this. We have a dating and relationships podcast. We love, love here at Life Uncut. There is something that has been happening quite a bit recently, and we're seeing it more and more.
Starting point is 00:13:31 There is an ex-NFL star who recently took his wife's surname. And then also on top of that, do you know Brooklyn Beckham and how he's recently gotten married? So he also took his now wife's surname as well, but he made like a hyphenated name. I love that. That was Pelt, wasn't it? Beckham Pelt.
Starting point is 00:13:49 You would think I'm telling the story, but you know more than I do. Okay, but the thing about this is that this, when a man starts to take a woman's last name or they do things with a bit more balance, they've given a name to that. It's a new dating relationship term called relationship balance. There really is a name for everything, isn't there? Well, it just kind of shows that like throughout
Starting point is 00:14:09 all of these different types of dating phenomena that there is now a new age definition and terminology that seems to go hand in hand and alongside. Yeah, there's something for everyone. And I wanted to unpack a couple of them with you guys. Alright, do you know what a cookie jar relationship is? If we're not referring to
Starting point is 00:14:25 Sesame Street, no. Yeah, I don't know. Okay, a cookie jar relationship is when you're dating two or three or maybe four people to work out who you like better. So you've got multiple people on at the same time and you're trying to figure out, not only are you juggling them, but you're trying to figure out, like, hmm,
Starting point is 00:14:41 hatch your bets. You know, which one do you like better out of the three, four, five? Every guy in Sydney. Correct. Cookie-jarring, yeah. Every guy in Australia. I think I used to cookie-jar. How do you want to go at the same time? It's just called dating. Is that what they mean when they say you have your hand in the cookie-jar?
Starting point is 00:14:57 It's like you're there, feeling around. You're trying to have them all. You want your cake and eat it too. Do you know what it means to be benching someone? Do you lift them up above your head? Is this a sexy term? I haven't been to a gym in a long time. It's when you keep someone on hold on a bench.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Basically, it just means that you like them, but you don't like them enough to commit to them, so you kind of got them there in case nothing else better comes along. They're just there. They're benched. Do you know what I love? I love the term, not only because it's food, but breadcrumbing. Have you heard of breadcrumbing?
Starting point is 00:15:27 I've heard of crop dusting, but that's a bit different. I think that's a fart, isn't it? No, I think so. Breadcrumbing is, and I think a lot of people do this, I have been guilty of it. Many, many, many people have done it to me, But it's where you just give the tiniest little morsel. You're dropping these little crumbs to keep them following you,
Starting point is 00:15:42 but not enough. You don't give them the whole loaf of bread. Out of interest. Interest. So maybe they give you a text here and there just to keep you hanging, so they drop the breadcrumbs so you can find your way home. So you're basically just stringing them along is what we're saying. Yeah, but you never get your freshly baked loaf of bread.
Starting point is 00:15:55 It never comes. You get the old, stale, crusty breadcrumb that has fallen off the table. You end up in the gingerbread house with the old lady who tries to eat you. That's what happens. Okay, I have one more, which I think is quite a goodie. Now, we all know what ghosting is. It's pretty, I think that's a staple. It's a relationship staple that we're all familiar with.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Been there, Donna. Have you heard of being the zombie or zombying someone? No, no. So when you're a zombie, it's when you have ghosted someone, but then you've been resurrected. So it's when someone's gone dead, they haven't messaged you for weeks or months, and then all of a sudden they're like, you up? And we all know what that you up text is like.
Starting point is 00:16:29 A.K.A. all their other options have gone down the gurgle. They're like, yeah, I'll just revisit old Sally from down the road. She's close by. I've got to find that girl that I had on the bench. Yeah. Thought I was cookie jarring. And ate the rest of the bread loaf. Well, I don't know if you guys have seen,
Starting point is 00:16:44 but it is this time of year where we start to get leaked all the Daily Mail snaps of the behind-the-scenes filming of The Bachelor. So The Bachelor's not out yet, but we know they love to go and do the spoilers. There is a lot of controversy because this season of The Bachelor apparently are in a $14.5 million dollar mansion in broad beach on the gold coast now in queensland in queensland and a few of the
Starting point is 00:17:10 old batchy contestants not us but we're going to give you our opinion a few contestants have come out and said that they feel a bit ripped off because their mansion was nowhere near as good oh no i'll say i feel ripped off i mean i think i think us can be included there was rats in my mansion i have a video i mean that's fair yeah i have a legitimate video that was sent i won't say who by but someone who works in in it was usher it was usher they sent it to me and it's a video of me in the bathroom running away from a friggin' rat that lived in the mansion with us. So where was your mansion?
Starting point is 00:17:42 We called him Ratty. It was in Glenory. Oh, and it was big, big house? It was a house that looked nice from afar, but far from nice. Put it that way. Yes, okay. But do you know what? I don't know what they're that jealous about
Starting point is 00:17:52 because you know how many people go in. We don't know this season, but my season there were 30 girls. I have no idea how many women are in this season. But this mansion, this $14.5 million mansion, it only has four bedrooms. So you do the math on that. There are a lot of people bunking down in those bedrooms. Wait, do you all actually stay there like school camps?
Starting point is 00:18:09 Yes. Yes. And what most people don't realize is that all the girls sleep in bunk beds. They're in dormitories. In the rooms. They're like dorms. So in my room, there was 13 bunk beds in my room. And was it a tiny room?
Starting point is 00:18:20 Oh, man, it was big enough to fit 13 bunk beds. Right. It was pretty small. We had 16 bunk beds in mine. It was literally like I was backpacking back in South America. Like a hostel. It is. It's hostel living, but people think that you're, like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:18:32 people think that you walk in you're in your own big luxurious bedroom there's fine places it is not like that you are fighting for the bathroom if you have an accident if you've got an upset stomach you're you're left for dust and then there is a lineup you're mic'd up the whole time are they filming you 24 7 not 24 7 you're mic'd up for like majority of the day then you have like the evenings and stuff unless it's a cocktail party you're not mic'd up but if you're just having leisure time and i put leisure time in like little ear bunnies if you're having leisure of time around the house you're not mic'd up so they're they're not listening to those conversations but we had to share two bathrooms 24 girls two bathrooms same we had to shower it was a glass
Starting point is 00:19:09 door a glass shower door so whoever was doing their makeup in the basin could see them straight into the shower so you'd have to hang your towel over the glass door jump over the rats yeah jump over ratters get in the shower hang your towel up and you we all just everyone was just nude all the time together because you had no privacy and you don't the funniest thing is when you do it when you're actually filming you're doing rose samarinis and things like that or cocktail parties yes yeah and you because you're constantly mic'd when you've got to go to the toilet you literally call out to like the 20 men that are working behind the scenes you're like boys number 17's going to the toilet you might want to turn the mic off for a hot second no because otherwise they hear it so
Starting point is 00:19:45 you had to give them the heads up to that you were going to do your business so why is this house so much better because what's the price it's 14.5 million i don't think it's that much better i think it's just on the water and it seems like it's in a nicer location i was in the bush i was the middle of nowhere and it's a bit sunnier and a bit more like i mean i've seen the paparazzi photos of this house it does look pretty lush from the outside yeah but we all know what's going on in the inside and it's dormitories single beds and no fun you can take the batchy mansion out of a girl but you can't put the batchy girl mansion in bunk beds in a room i don't know i was confused there's something in that somewhere good luck to the new crop of girls and ratley i
Starting point is 00:20:20 hope ratley gets up to broad beach waters yeah ratty ratty sorry they're gonna get their water We have seen this man all over our televisions. He is a bona fide superstar. He's not an Aussie born, but he is from Ireland. We know Jock Zomfilo from MasterChef Australia. He's from Glasgow. We've adopted him. Glasgow's not Ireland, Mitch.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I'm going to give you a geography lesson. Where's that? Glasgow's in Scotland. Shit, hope he's not on the phone right now. His new book, A Last Shot, is available. He's here to talk all about it. Plus, of course, MasterChef. Jock Zomfilo joins us.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Hi, thanks for having me. Jock, so many people know you. Like you are on MasterChef, you're on our TV screens. Nobody without knowing your story or reading your book would know that you have had this other life, a completely different life that you've lived beforehand. Did you ever think or what was the catalyst that made you be able to go, yeah, I'm going to be on a TV show?
Starting point is 00:21:11 I've got my stuff. Like, you know, turning your life around in such a huge way is truly remarkable. But what was that moment where you were like, okay, things are on the up again? I think when I emigrated and I was working at 41, and then when you read the book, there's this first half that is up to that point where I stopped taking heroin. And then there's the other half of the book, which is after it. And the other half begins with just more turmoil and more really bad shit.
Starting point is 00:21:42 because what I realized is that I also had an obsession. As well as an addiction, I had an obsession with food. I had an obsession with cooking. And it was almost as damaging on my life as the addiction was, probably more so. And so the first couple of years clean was the beginning of me trying to sort myself out as a person and dealing with my mental health. You get diagnosed as a high-function OCD binary person. So you think you can transfer, as in like you had that heroin addiction
Starting point is 00:22:15 and then you transferred the addiction into something else and for you it was your... No, I've always had the obsession and I think, and I talk about it in the book, I honestly don't believe I would have conquered the addiction if I didn't have the obsession. That's what I think. You needed to channel all your energy and that obsessive behaviour into something else and you just managed to find a positive.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Yeah, and I think if you talk to a lot of people who have been addicted to heroin will tell you that there needs to be something more compelling than heroin to draw you away from it. Do you know what I mean? And I think for me, I was lucky enough where I did, you know, food and cooking, I was obsessed, clearly, and I had a career that I'd focused on,
Starting point is 00:22:55 and that kept me on the right side of wrong. I feel like there is a bit of a stereotype that has been cast with chefs, that they can be a bit angry or they can, you know, just... Hot-headed. Yes, just like, yes. I feel like that this is... I mean, I've dated a chef once before in my lifetime,
Starting point is 00:23:12 and I would say he was a bit hot-headed. Do you think that there's any truth to this? Or would you say maybe it's a bit of a stereotype? No, I think there's truth to it in a certain degree. I think the kitchen is a place of high pressure that has this build-up of pressure throughout the day as you work towards service, right? You get everything ready, 12 o'clock happens,
Starting point is 00:23:35 all of a sudden there's 100 checks on, everyone's yelling and showing each other because that's, you know, like to get food out in a busy, busy restaurant. And then when it's all over at 10, 11 o'clock at night, you mop down the benches, you do a little bit of prep, you leave the kitchen at midnight, 1 o'clock in the morning, and it's silence and there's nobody and there's nothing open. There's nothing for you to do.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Well, that's the hospitality industry, isn't it? And that's why they say there's a bit of a partying mentality after shifts. That's right. No, that's why I did the breakfast shift. And I think it is. You get this hot-headedness because, you know, I think people just have that reputation. Obviously, Gordon is, I'm out of mind, but, I mean, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:13 he doesn't help us at all by all the TV shows when he's just bugging yelling at everybody. Hell's Kitchen didn't help. The name Hell's Kitchen didn't help. Well, I'm glad that we don't see you yelling at people on MasterChef, that's for sure. Yes, I completely agree. We love you on MasterChef, buddy.
Starting point is 00:24:29 The new book is available as well. But I need to know, buddy, we want to do a little challenge with you. We're calling it the Ultimate Life Uncut Foodie Challenge. You say you think about food 24-7, all day, every day. We've got real cuisines from around the world that sound unbelievable, that sound so ridiculous. We need your help naming the ingredients.
Starting point is 00:24:46 You good to play our challenge next? Yeah, let's do it. Come on, tell me about this game. Okay, well, let's play the game show music first. Here it is. Now, we have picked out some truly unbelievable names of dishes. Dishes that we've never heard of. Dishes that we think you've probably never heard of either.
Starting point is 00:25:04 They're real, they're real. They are real dishes. And we want to know if you can name any of the ingredients. Well, actually, do you know what? No, tell us what they are. If you can tell us what they are and if you can name all the ingredients. But if you can't do that, even just one or two of them would be truly, truly remarkable. All right, I'm going to kick it off.
Starting point is 00:25:19 What is the head cheese? So do you know where it comes from? No. Okay, I'm going to say that it is jellied. It is something that's been jellied. It is jellied. So head cheese, it's like brown, basically. And so it's kind of, imagine a terrine.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Usually they do it in a round shape. Oh, my God, he's right. Yeah. It actually has like. It's made with a pig's head. Oh, did you just Google that? Ding, ding, ding. No.
Starting point is 00:25:47 All right. I'm on the phone. True, true. Next one, Britt, you go. Okay, Jock, what is sex in a pan? And now get your head out of the gutter. It's a food. Sex in a pan.
Starting point is 00:25:57 That's one I haven't heard of. This would be difficult to do. It's a dessert, we should say. So if that helps. Sex in a dessert. So if I'm going to – I've got no idea. I've never heard of it. So if I'm thinking it's a dessert, there'd have to be cream in it, probably.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I'm thinking that. Is there cream in it? Yeah, cream cheese, whipped cream. It's got vanilla, sugar, pudding. It's like a completely layered thing with pecans. It's pretty impressive. Let's give him it. He got cream.
Starting point is 00:26:22 He got cream. It also just kind of sounds like a pecan pie. It's with lots of butter. With cream, yeah. With lots of butter. In a pan. And to be honest, I don't really want to – sex in a pan. Cream cheese doesn't really do it for me, does it?
Starting point is 00:26:34 Where did the cottage cheese come from? Better than cottage cheese, everyone. Oh, we don't actually have that intel. Sorry, Josh. Do another one, Laura. Do our due diligence. What is a Juicy Lucy? Sounds like a cocktail.
Starting point is 00:26:47 No, it is not. McDonald's does it well. McDonald's does it well? Yes. Juicy Lucy. A Juicy Lucy. I've got no idea. It's a Juicy Lucy cheeseburger.
Starting point is 00:26:59 It's a cheeseburger. It's stuffed inside the meat patty instead of... The cheese is inside the meat patty. Also, Lucy is the burger patty. She's juicy. And she's stuffed. Oh, my God. Everything about that is wrong,
Starting point is 00:27:12 and I think McDonald's needs to have a chapter about it. My last one worth 100 points. Okay, if you get this, you win the whole thing. I'm just trying to decide which one I do for you. What exactly does he win? Does anyone know? A juicy Lucy will courier one to you. Okay, what is a garbage plate?
Starting point is 00:27:29 Again, I haven't heard of a garbage plate. Is it something like the halal snack packs or stuff like that? I'm thinking of a garbage plate. Like a late night snack? No, like an American baseball game. American baseball game. Chips? Got to be.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Yep, fries. Yeah, yeah. No, he's kind of got it. He's got it. He's got it, yeah. It's a plate of meat, pasta, salad, home fries, and your choice of protein, hot dog or ham? burgers he did it yeah we'll give it to him hang on a minute salad and fries no pasta salad the
Starting point is 00:28:05 carbs are in there it's called the garbage plate for a reason yeah i truly think that this is comes off the back of some sort of sporting i definitely agree i agree all right jock you're a legend buddy you can catch jock on our master chef currently on channel 10 and of course he's his book the last shot is available wherever you get your best books go and have a buy thank you Jock, for coming on, buddy. Thanks for having me, guys. I'm so happy because of the new iOS update that's coming to the iPhone. Some of the changes have made me so pleased.
Starting point is 00:28:33 So pleased. Do you know, this is something that I think a lot of people are going to get excited about. With Apple, you know when you send a text message? Yes. However, so often you'll send a message and then be like, I wish I could unsend that message. Well, that is what they're bringing out. Basically, with some of these new changes that they've brought out with the iOS update, if you're someone who actually ever gets around to updating their phones,
Starting point is 00:28:52 you can recall messages now. So if you change your mind, if you accidentally say something that you don't mean, if you tell your boss that he's a POS and you want to withdraw that statement, you now have 15 minutes. So 15 minutes after sending a text message, you can go back in. If the person hasn't read it, you can take it back. But that doesn't help you after midnight. Like you need more than 15 minutes. You need an eight hour window. You need to wake up the next day and be like, oh my gosh, I sent that at midnight.
Starting point is 00:29:18 But this was the most requested change, the most requested update. and i am here for it and i wish it was around the last 10 years because i have done this way too many times do you know once oh my god i just remembered this do you know what i did i was going on a date a first date with this super super hot good looking guy yeah and i was so excited by it that i screenshot our conversation because it was a bit flirty and i went to send it to my friend can and i was like can you believe i'm going on a date with this guy and I sent the screenshot of our conversation back to him. At least you were saying he's hot.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Yes. Well, he was in the public a little bit, so people knew who he was. Oh, that's even more embarrassing. I was mortified and I couldn't if. What did he say? I owned it. I wrote back and I said there's not really any way to explain this other than it is what it is.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And we still went on the date. We went on the date, but didn't go further than that. I think it was a sympathy date. I mean, that's more of a success story. i've definitely i'm single 10 years later i've definitely screenshot someone's dating profile and meant to send the dating profile to my friend but sent it to him and exactly like this this is one of those instances where you just want to bring take it back i wish that didn't happen and now you can but this is the other thing you can also go in and you can change the setting so you
Starting point is 00:30:39 can say that something's been unseen even if you've read it you can now say that it's been unread yeah but that's only on your phone so so if you're too busy to read it you can go back later right no surely this change is going to be different surely with this change if you if you hit unread it means the other person thinks you haven't read it no and this is what i mean i did this for years i always thought when you mark it as unread it quickly lets everyone know like the other person thinks you haven't read it so i used to read things mark it as unread and be like never reply to that person but they they knew i had seen it that's just for you they still have seen on their phone it never changes laura but i thought that this would just be with instagram i
Starting point is 00:31:15 think with this new update maybe you can actually recall wrong you can recall the unread no you can't all right well i'm gonna lobby apple because that's the next change we do actually have a really good podcast episode coming up this week on tuesday with kiss's very own will from will and woody we are talking about toxic masculinity because it is something that is very important to talk about but it's something that will speaks very openly about and recently he had a little bit of a breakdown slash breakthrough on celebrity apprentice well we also got to sit down and do share my food with will and woody recently these guys are so open about talking about mental health they're big advocates for it and we wanted to extend that conversation and yeah that the whole
Starting point is 00:31:59 episode is around toxic masculinity and how it affects everyone not just men doesn't discriminate it doesn't discriminate and then that's it that's coming up next week i'll be listening and don't forget tell your mom tell your dad tell your dog tell your friends and share the love because hear it in the catch-up podcast on iHeartRadio
