Starting point is 00:00:00 A Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders, past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. This episode is recorded on Gadigal land of the Aurora Nation. Hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Laura. I'm Brittany. I'm Mitch. And this is our Saturday radio show.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Every Saturday we bundle up the very best bits and we bring it to you right here in a sweet little morsel. Best bits. I don't know if this is the best bit, but we do speak about, I moved into your house, Laura, and you sold it to me, right? You moved out. You're moving into a bigger and better place, basically, room for the kids with a yard, run around.
Starting point is 00:00:45 And I moved into your house because I had my dog Delilah and I needed some space. What you didn't tell me was you have the neighbour from hell and now it is too late for me. I'm locked and loaded into my lease and she's causing me some proper havoc. I hope she doesn't listen to this. Actually, maybe it's good.
Starting point is 00:01:03 No, everybody who listens to the podcast knows about this neighbour. I used to tell you all how she used to hose down my washing constantly and I'm very glad that I don't have to deal with her anymore but I have so much sympathy for you, Britt, because if you haven't lived this neighbour, like if you haven't lived this experience,
Starting point is 00:01:17 you wouldn't believe how bad she is. Okay, you... I almost want to dox her but I won't. You told me she hosed your washing. Well, Mitch, Churi and I can confirm that has escalated. Let me just say that. Yeah, she hosed a human. I was there.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I know. I was also part of it. She also hosed a croissant. Mitch brought me a croissant when I was sick, right? And a green juice. A COVID croissant and a green juice. Not only did she hose Mitch down, but the croissant got caught in the fire and I didn't get the croissant.
Starting point is 00:01:44 But I had words with her, remember? Like she mumbled something under her breath. Maybe she put a spell on me or something. I think she told you to stop talking. You're like, please, no one can stop me from talking Okay, I also had something very unfortunate happen to me this week I sent a text that I shouldn't have sent to my cleaner Yeah
Starting point is 00:02:02 And we'll just leave it at that You've really made a mess of it And I don't think that she'll ever be my cleaner again If it makes you feel better, we know I've sent the wrong text to someone a hundred times So let's hope that you came out on the other side But we have so much more than that coming up Let's get into the show It's the Life Uncut Radio show around Australia
Starting point is 00:02:17 Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne It's wedding season, guys. Lots of weddings. Yours is soon, Laura. You just had one. Brie? I did not. We've got to stop saying I had a wedding.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I went to two weddings, but I'm so far from getting married. It's ridiculous. I know we keep talking about it, and we probably will keep talking about it until it happens, but mine is four weeks away, and we're so unorganised, and I don't know. I think I won't get that excited until it's the day. Is that a really bad thing to say?
Starting point is 00:02:42 No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think it's because it's so much of a, I can only imagine, it's so much of a build-up and so much stress that I don't think you can get excited until it's there. Well, clearly there's been some stress-inducing in your life, Laura, because you've accidentally sent an embarrassing DM or text. It wasn't embarrassing, Mitch Turi.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Okay, I was just telling these guys in the break. So it's got nothing to do with weddings. It's got to do with my cleaner is what happened. Okay, my cleaner. We have a beautiful cleaner. Her name is Paula. We love Paula. Good name too.
Starting point is 00:03:13 She is divine. I trust her, Paula. Paula comes in and she cleans until that house is so sparkly. It never looks like that, but she's amazing. But anyway, Paula's got away. Been on holidays for the last, oh, maybe seven weeks. She went back to Columbia to see her family and she left me with no cleaner and two kids and no time.
Starting point is 00:03:31 So we found a new cleaner just to fill in while Paula's gone. We found him. What's the site? Airtasker? Yes. Okay, Brits like loves an Airtasker. So she got me onto Airtasker. I found a cleaner on Airtasker.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Amazing reviews. We booked her in. She came the other day. And we didn't meet her. This was a very ballsy thing, but I just left a key out. So never met the cleaner. That is wild off Airtasker, Laura. It is, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:03:56 Yeah, very. I know people that have been robbed off Airtasker. That is wild. I just, I'm very trusting. This is as wild as you saying it's okay to marry your cousin last week. I'm still not over that. I'll never be over that. Every week it gets better.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I didn't say it's okay to marry your cousin. I said it's legal. Britt, at the wedding in a couple of weeks, let's just keep an eye on the family table. I might do a DNA test, pluck some of those hairs out. Okay, wait, wait, my cleaner story. Let's get back on track, everyone. All right, so I left the key out.
Starting point is 00:04:21 The air tasker cleaner came. At least I think she came. She said she came. Yeah. And she said, please, you know, release the funds because I came and cleaned the house. And I got home. And it looked like some things had been moved around
Starting point is 00:04:32 but not really cleaned very well, right? Like it was, I mean, it was like a 50% job. Nothing like what Paula can do. Let me tell you that. So I send Matt a text message, which was like quite angry. Your partner, Matt, yeah. Yeah, my partner, Matt.
Starting point is 00:04:45 I send him a text message. The very first thing I do, I walk in, I'm like, okay, I can't believe that wasn't done. Can't believe for how much it cost. I feel very, very angry by this. So I sent Matt quite a angry message about the cleaner and I was like, the house looks like a piece of shit. It couldn't possibly look worse.
Starting point is 00:05:01 It looks like she's done nothing. What are we paying her for? And I sent the text message. Didn't hear back from Matt for a little while, but I get this text message back about 15 minutes later and it just said, I'm sorry you're so disappointed with the service. And you sent it to cleaner.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I sent the text message to my AirTask cleaner. Well, at least she got it, the message loud and clear. Well, yes. And what did she say? Just that. But she still wanted me to pay her. Didn't give me a discount. But did you write back again?
Starting point is 00:05:27 No, not yet. So you've left her on read. Did you pay her? Yes. Why? You don't say that confidently. No, I did pay her. I paid her out of guilt.
Starting point is 00:05:36 She took your jewellery. I was going to say, yeah, she's like, joke's on you, I took your kettle. I paid her out of guilt. My actual tactic was that I was going to ask for a bit of a discount, but I don't think I can after I just insulted her and swore at her. We already paid her. She's not giving it back. I did it out of guilt and pity.
Starting point is 00:05:53 We've all had an experience like this. When did you accidentally send a text to the person the message was about? Give us a call. I don't think you can top that. I feel like some people have probably done it in their relationships, which is a lot worse. I do it all the time. Really?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Yeah, all the time. Thinking about too many things at once. Yeah, you can never unsend. You're thinking about the person and then you send it to the person. That's what happens. Yeah, yeah. All right, let's get some horror stories. Call us, 131065.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Talking, wrong text, wrong person, wrong time. We've all done it. You've all sent a text which is meant to be about the person and sent it to that person. Yes. Do you know what I once did? I mean, we all know about the cleaner story, but I once, an ex, well, it wasn't an ex, my friend at the time,
Starting point is 00:06:29 Steve was his name. That sounds so fake. It was truly his name. Steve Glass. We were best friends and he sent me a text message and said, hey, I have feelings for you. Would it be okay maybe if we go on a date or something? and I sent a text message to my girlfriend that said,
Starting point is 00:06:44 Steve just asked me on a date as if I would ever date him and I sent it back to Steve. Oh, no. I did the opposite. I got asked out by a really hot guy, like a really, really beautiful guy, and I took a screenshot of the conversation to send to my friends.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Oh, gosh. I sent it back to him. I sent the screenshot of him asking me back. There's nothing more lame, is there, when you're just like, you've got to just admit it. Well, it's because you can't get out of it. You're like, this is it. But, like, let's hear, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:07:07 surely someone out there can make me feel a little bit better about that. Maria in Brunswick on 131065. Hello. Who did you text accidentally? Hey, guys. How are you going? Good.
Starting point is 00:07:15 What did you do? Oh, so I sent a snap to the person I was talking about on Snapchat. Basically, we were going to a Coldplay concert, and it was kind of like someone that I was somewhat seeing at the time. We had waited in the line all day, and then we got there, and they were like, oh, I want to stand at the back. And I was, like, really pissed off at the whole situation. The next day, I'm having a mad rant about it.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Like, I can't believe we waited this whole time, waiting for this concert, Coldplay, favourite band. But at the back, mad, mad rant, and I've sent it directly to them as opposed to sending it to all my friends. What did he say? It was like an unfriend kind of situation. Oh, dear.
Starting point is 00:07:54 It was an unfriend situation. Very diplomatic from Maria, too. It was an unfriend, uncoupling. Conscious uncoupling. Conscious uncoupling. All right, Kate131065, who did you message, Kate? Oh, hi. Yeah, so I messaged my boss instead of my boyfriend
Starting point is 00:08:07 one day when I was job hunting. Oh, no. So, yeah, I sent them the link to the Seek ad and basically said, this looks way better, I'm definitely applying. And my boss wrote back saying, what the ****? Oh. What happened? What was the end result?
Starting point is 00:08:22 Do you still work there? No, the relationship went downhill pretty quick. It wasn't already great, hence why I was looking. But my boss and my boyfriend had the same name start with the same initial, so it was very easily done. I should have been more careful. It was another conscious uncoupling. Goodness me.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Thanks, Kate. Hannah, wrap it up for us. Who did you accidentally text? Hi. Hi. Well, I'm mortified even talking about this. We love it. I was sending a message to my boyfriend,
Starting point is 00:08:49 and I was all dressed up, all sexy in my lingerie. And I sent it to my dad. Wow. Yeah. What level of lingerie? You know, there's like a one, a two, and a three. Like, there's the c-shoot. There's, like, where the nipples pop through.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Was it a photo? It was a photo. Look, it was pretty revealing. Wait, how did you accidentally send it to your dad? Because you were thinking of your dad at the time. Like, how did the dad come into the picture? They've got very similar names. So they both...
Starting point is 00:09:20 Well, my boyfriend's name's Dave and there was dad. And I'd only just messaged my dad that day anyway. So I was sort of just... And it was in the heat of the moment and I... What did your dad say? What did your dad say back? Was he just like, dinner's at eight? He just avoided it.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Really, we both just did that awkward, that did not happen, did it? Like, he said nothing. Yeah, set and forget. Set and forget. Dad, I wasn't thinking of you, I swear. Bonding experience. All right, we've got an Ask Uncut next. We get a listener's qualm on and we answer it the best as we can.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Completely unqualified, but very enthusiastic. Put it that way. I real shot at that. Ask Uncut. Tell me what you want, what you really, really want. So Ask Uncut is an episode we do on the podcast every week. It is where you write in your deep, your dark, your burning questions, and we do our absolute best to answer them.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Now, we received one this week, and it was a very long Ask Uncut, so I'm going to summarise it. But basically, the woman who wrote in, she is a FIFO worker. Now, she said she works in... What's FIFO? Fly in, fly out. Oh, you're right. Yeah, I didn't know that. So she works in the mines, basically,
Starting point is 00:10:26 but she said it's a very male-dominated industry that she works in, and she has recently fallen in love with a guy who she works with in the mines. Ah. Now, they've taken their relationship a little bit more public, but he's been keeping things kind of on the DL. And it turns out the reason that he's been keeping it on the DL is because he's going through a messy divorce at the moment. They're not separated.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Apparently, they're still living with each other and he's working through it. Now, she's already... I know, I can see everyone's faces. She's already invested in him and she wants to know, does she wait and wait for him to work it out with his wife, as in, like, go through the divorce proceedings, or is this just a big cover-up and he's actually still happily married
Starting point is 00:11:05 and she's a side piece? Look, historically speaking, I'm going to say he's probably still married and he's pulling the wool over her eyes. That's where I want to go straight away. I know. That was the first thing that I thought. I was like, if you think that maybe they're still happily married, they're probably still happily married.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Well, you know why I say that is because it's not like this was brought up at the beginning when they started dating. She's only just found this out. If you really were going through a divorce and it was taking its time, you would say that when you met someone and started dating. yes not just like it's obvious that she's discovered something or something's come out and he said oh yes yes you know we're together but it's not good it's like we're we are separating i'm calling bullshit i feel like when people can say oh oh it's just it's really hard we're trying
Starting point is 00:11:44 to work through stuff like they're always going to over inflate it to the person that they're cheating with right they're always going to say oh my relationship it's been really difficult i bet if you asked his wife if they're in a difficult phase she might have a different feeling about their relationship she might have no idea that they're having hard times It's not difficult because we're trying for a child. Maybe that's it. Like, they're probably in very different ways. Also, it's probably difficult because he's FIFO.
Starting point is 00:12:05 That is a tough life to live. Yeah, it really is, isn't it? Advice in this situation, I think unless you can be absolutely sure, like 100% sure that they are separated, they are going through the divorce proceedings, he's moved out, they're not still living together, then I think I would cut my losses and make some separation from this situation.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Yeah, I agree. Well, I mean, I agree too. I'd be tapping out. There's plenty of fish in the sea. There's plenty of stones in the mine. Is that something? There's a diamond in there somewhere. There's a diamond.
Starting point is 00:12:32 There's a bit of gold. There's a high capacity of males out in those mines. Let's go find someone else. Get in touch. Good on. Slide into the DM's Life Uncut podcast and we'll get you on the show. If you've got a question that needs answering or a conundrum, we'll do our best. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Joining us on the way today is Rob Mills. Millsy has got a new book out and he's a good egg, Millsy. We love Mills. He's talking all about his experiences with masculinity. He's just one of those overachievers. He sings, he dances, he acts. He's handsome. He's handsome.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I mean, he's written a book. But yeah, there's a reason we love him, though, because he's absolutely brilliant. There's been a lot of wedding talk on this show. Brittany, your sister got married. She had two weddings last week. Well, it's wedding season, isn't it? But I don't think that means you have to have two.
Starting point is 00:13:08 But yes, my sister had two weddings. Laura's getting married soon. I've got a lot of friends getting engaged and married. It's really the time for us single people to feel it. It's because it's getting warmer. That's why. Everyone wants a warm wedding, so they do it at the end of the year. We need some winter weddings, guys.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Spread it out. Because I want to go get married in the snow. I'm worried it's going to rain. Bloody La Nina. That's good luck. No, I don't believe that. It is good luck. Well, listen, this Australian ex-girlfriend has sparked some wedding chat online.
Starting point is 00:13:33 She's selling her wedding ring and it's caused a wild debate on the internet. Somebody is trying to hawk their Tiffany's ring. Like they're trying to hawk it on Facebook Marketplace. It's nice. It's a big rock. It is. What's wrong with that? Okay, it's a one carat ring.
Starting point is 00:13:45 It's quite beautiful. It's set in, you know, platinum. It's valued at $23,000. Is that a fair price, Laura? You'd know with Tony May. I mean, that seems a bit steep, but it is Tiffany's. So they always put things up a bit. Okay, $23,000 and she's selling it for $18,500.
Starting point is 00:13:59 And this is what she's written. Bargain. Compared to current Tiffany pricings of one carat rings at $23,600, I am letting go of this beauty at $18,500. Condition is close to brand new. Never worn much. Sorry, no receipt as I obviously didn't buy it for myself. Bank transfers only.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Now this has sparked a huge debate between whether it is actually okay as a woman to sell an engagement ring when the wedding has been called off? I mean, it depends, because if he has done the dirty and if he's cheating, well, then, yes, I would be going and selling that ring, I'd be adding some mayo, I'd be adding some inflation. But if she has cheated, then no,
Starting point is 00:14:36 I think that she needs to leave the ring with him. Look, I think this is a case, really, at the end of the day, no-one else can bust this, but other than Laura Byrne, let's do Laws, Laws. Oh, wow. So, we did do a little bit of a research into this, and assuming that it was a traditional engagement, the laws are if a woman who has received a ring
Starting point is 00:14:57 in contemplation of marriage refuses to fulfill the condition of the gift, she must return the ring. So basically if she, oh yeah, I like that. Did that turn anyone else on? A little bit. So basically if you change your mind, you have to return the ring. It is no longer your property. The second law is if a man refuses to carry out his promise
Starting point is 00:15:18 of marriage without legal justification he cannot demand the ring in return so if he's the one who decides that he doesn't want to get married he can't ask for it back but there there's nothing about cheating in this i feel like it's a diplomatic way of saying cheating right no because i think that that's debatable what if you cheated but you still wanted the marriage to go forward then you don't like that those rules don't apply right so if he cheated but he still wants to get married and he's not the one to call off the wedding then she technically can't keep the ring is how it would be interpreted. Is cheating not legal justification? No. Is that not against legal justification? We need a lawyer. We need a real lawyer. Sorry, I just...
Starting point is 00:15:57 Good point by Brooke. You just love it. You just love the sound effects, Mitch. Well, no, because I think ultimately cheating is a moral thing. It's not a legal thing. You can legally cheat on someone. Trust me, I wish my ex would go to prison. You can cheat on someone and it's not a legal thing. So I think, unfortunately, when it comes to actual money, which is an engagement ring, just because someone's cheated, that's not enough of a basis to say that that then passes the ownership of that ring on. Producer Missy, for next week, do you reckon we could get a divorce lawyer on the radio show? Do you reckon we could ask some hard questions? We absolutely can. Okay. I've got some questions here for some scenarios that I think we need to
Starting point is 00:16:32 ask a divorce lawyer. Oh, Brittany Hockley doesn't believe laws, laws. I did the due diligence and still not good enough. Oh, I just have some curiosity. That's all. I'd like to see where you got your law degree from? Laws, laws? It's from NCIS. Exactly. Case closed for now. We might pick back up next week.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Joining us now, guys, Rob Mills, actor, singer, Broadway star. He's now an author too. His brand new book, Putting On A Show, Manhood, Mates and Mental Health. It's a good read. It's available everywhere. Hello, Millsy. Hi, guys.
Starting point is 00:17:00 Thank you so much for having me. Rob, how has it been since launching the book this week? Really good. Actually, really great response. Some really good reviews. People have already read it within the week, which is, for me, I'm like a two or three weeks before I can actually finish a book.
Starting point is 00:17:14 So some people have actually picked it up and written reviews about it already. Rob, you sound surprised by that. About people reading books? You're like, well, a lot of people have actually left me a review and read it, yeah. No, I mean, like, you came on the podcast recently. We absolutely love you.
Starting point is 00:17:28 The book is absolutely incredible. I don't think you should be shook that people are loving it. I mean, for me, I take about a year to read a book, in all honesty. I read a book like I drink my coffee, like very, very slowly. You should see The State of a Coffee after a year. No, I think it's, yeah, I'm wrapped and I'm hoping the response, it's one of those sort of word of mouth kind of things because I know most, my audience is mainly women
Starting point is 00:17:50 but the book is definitely for bloke so maybe women will give it to their partners. But yeah, I'm just wrapped that it's out and that people can, you know, get some tips and tricks or just, you know, learn a bit more about myself but also about the state of the world, of the manly world that we're in or the less manly world that we're in. Well, Rob, speaking of the manly world that we're in,
Starting point is 00:18:08 You are a theatre-loving and footy-loving man and those two things don't usually sit together or we don't expect them to sit together. They should. Yeah, well, they should, exactly. You speak about this in your book and also in some of the discussions we've had. How do you think masculinity is changing?
Starting point is 00:18:23 Look, along with a lot of things, we're sort of moving away from stereotypes and things are becoming more fluid. We're happier to sit in the grey area. I imagine a lot of mass media and probably social media is trying to put everything to be black and white. Can I ask you a question? This is like, just I'm really curious for myself.
Starting point is 00:18:41 We met you quite a long time ago. We won't put a number on it, on Australian Idol. So you're obviously first and foremost, you are a singer, but you have done a lot of acting. You actually won Best Actor. I don't know if it was in the UK or Australia, but it was for Neighbours. You've done a lot of other acting.
Starting point is 00:18:56 You're in Wicked next year, which is a theatre production. Well, I'll put you up. I just launched Wicked, but I'm not doing Wicked. I'm just an ambassador for Wicked, the show itself. Did they ask you to do it? As an original company member, they asked myself and Lucy Chirac to launch the show. Right, I was trying to get you a job on there then.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Sorry, but you cut me off. I may or may not be doing another show next year, which I can't talk about. Okay, so obviously we'll get you back next year to launch that show. But no, but my question is, because you started as a singer on a reality show, but you've done all this acting and you've won these acting awards, did that just happen organically
Starting point is 00:19:31 or did you go to an acting school and do that and just we didn't hear about it? I did drama in year nine, year 10, and then I changed schools to go and do drama in Year 11 and 12. But I dropped out at the end of Year 11 because I was too scared to do it in front of people. I didn't think I was any good. But years later, I picked it back up
Starting point is 00:19:47 by falling in love with musical theatre. Rob, it has been almost... Has it been 20 years now since you were on Idol? I mean, I literally just said I wasn't going to put a number on it. I'm quite happy to throw it out there because, like, that is a long time and a lot has changed in the reality TV world. Would you ever do another reality TV show?
Starting point is 00:20:03 I think I've done them all. If you go through the list, I think I'm all out. I think I've clocked it. I think I've clocked the game of reality TV. Would I go on to try and be a pop star on a reality show? No. Would I like to go on a show that challenges me and go on a show that I think I can learn something from
Starting point is 00:20:19 from other people? Yes, 100%. Well, we can't wait to see you on Survivor then. Yeah, that's confirmed. No, nobody needs to see me hangry. Absolutely. Hey, Millsy, we've got a bunch of headlines. We've collated them.
Starting point is 00:20:30 The girls have a pile of headlines written about you. It's a game we play on the show called Headlines. So some are real, some are fake. It's your job to debunk them. You're good to stick around and we'll quiz you. Love it. I love this. Let's do it. Rob Mills is here. His brand-new book, Putting On A Show, Manhood, Mates and Mental Health,
Starting point is 00:20:45 is available now and he's going to debunk some of the headlines that have been written about him. It's a show staple, right, ladies? Head Lies is your opportunity to tell us exactly the true story of what lies beneath, whether it's a head lie or a head lie. Yeah, let's play. I can't lie! Head Lies.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Rob Mills turns down offer to host the new series of Australian Idol. Oh, that's really good. I wish. That's a lie. It's a headline. Now, if you had been offered the job, would you have done it? Yeah, I mean, I love doing workshops for kids across the country in musical theatre workshops or performance workshops.
Starting point is 00:21:22 So, yeah, it's right up my alley. And I also got to host the Young Talent Time a few years ago. All right, Scott Tweedy is coming for you. Yeah. All right. No, I love Tweedy. I'm so wrapped that he got the job. I'm so wrapped.
Starting point is 00:21:32 You're too diplomatic. Okay, Ghost star Rob Mills reveals how I got my Swayze body. Oh, that sounds like a truth. I worked really hard on that. It's real. That was true. What did you do to get a body like that? Lots of training, lots of good eating.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Yeah, I would just say it's the old thing. It's 70% diet, 30% training. I don't think there'd be any other answer as well. It's like the old happens in the kitchen kind of thing, isn't it? Abs are made in the kitchen. All right, I've got another. Just lack of beers. Yeah, lack of beers.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Okay, Rob Mills and Georgie Tunney have monthly relationship check-ins. Yeah, this is true. Oh, God, these are all true. How does this help? What is a relationship check-in each month? Usually it's like a drive in the car or a long walk, and it's just kind of what have we done well, what have we... That sounds very corporate-y, doesn't it, when I say it like that?
Starting point is 00:22:24 We sit down for a board meeting once a month. Yeah, yeah, we get a whiteboard, we go through the pros and cons. Prof and loss. Yeah. All right, we've got one more, Rob. And this is a goodie. I hope to God that this one's real. Rob Mills strips down to G-string at Clovelly Beach in Sydney
Starting point is 00:22:38 after announcing his engagement because he now has a Swayze body. It does sound like me. And I don't mind a G, but no. Aw, damn it. I was hoping there'd be some pat pictures to go along with that headline. All right. Mills' new book, Putting on a Show, Manhood, Mates and Mental Health, is available now.
Starting point is 00:23:00 You can grab it, have a good read, get it out there, guys. Thank you so much, Millsy. Great to have you on the show. Thanks, Ryan. Thanks, Millsy. Thanks for supporting Mental Health Month as well. I appreciate it. Thanks, legend.
Starting point is 00:23:10 It's the Life Uncut radio show. Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne. Saturday morning, Laura Byrne just nods her head. Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. It is us. It's because she paused. It's the Life Uncut radio show.
Starting point is 00:23:19 I was like, did you forget? Well, because he's like, is it the podcast? Is it the live show? Is it the radio show? Is it the book? We do everything together. You do. We spend all our time together.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Now, what's going on, Britt? Actually, speaking of doing things together, this is so funny. Brittany now lives in Laura's old house. Your rental was up and Britt's like, I'll take it on. Yeah, but you just can't get enough. I think it was more that it came out of convenience. Earlier this year, I moved to a house in Bronte and my two-bedroom apartment that I was living in in Bondi was vacant
Starting point is 00:23:46 and we thought it wouldn't easy trade because Britt has a dog, I had a dog, that apartment has a great outdoor area. So she just moved in and I moved out. So there's this lady, this is the problem, right? This is the problem I'm having. The house, great. There's a lady that lives upstairs and she's a bit, I want to say crazy, but she's got some problems, right?
Starting point is 00:24:03 No, she's the worst part of that apartment. She's an older lady. She sits outside all day. And what she used to do to Laura a few times was when you would be outside putting your washing out, right, you'd put on the balcony, she would know it's there and she would purposely pretend she's watering her balcony so that water would go over her balcony above us and onto Laura's balcony.
Starting point is 00:24:22 So she did it a few times. And I caught her doing it. So she would go out, she would look over the balcony because you can sit out there. That's where our outdoor patio furniture stuff is. She would look over the balcony. She would see my washing and then she would start hosing down her balcony. So all the possum poo and everything would start floating off and just trickle down onto my clothes. It happened to me too.
Starting point is 00:24:43 When you had COVID, Britt, I dropped you a croissant and was trying to help my sick friend and she was hosing me down. Yeah, so she watered Mitch Turi, right? Oh, wait for it. Mitch Turi was on the other side of the balcony giving me a COVID croissant. and she knows. In a day, she comes out and she started to water Mitch. Then, Mitch, get this.
Starting point is 00:25:01 A couple of days ago, Laura and producer Keisha of our podcast were having a meeting at my house and I was walking them out. So we were all standing outside at the end of the balcony and we were saying our goodbyes as I was seeing them out the gate.
Starting point is 00:25:13 The three of us, 10.30 in the morning, broad daylight. She walks out with her hose and hoses all three of us down outside. We were standing there talking. Were you on fire? Did you stand close to the other?
Starting point is 00:25:25 And it's pretty hard, but it's truly comical. It's like we're out there chatting, so she can obviously hear that we're outside. You hear the glass doors open, because she's only on the balcony directly above. You hear the glass doors go, and they slide. And then she turns the hose on and just walks over to the side and starts hosing us.
Starting point is 00:25:40 She literally hoses down. You're literally saying, excuse me, we're here. And then you just hear her turn the pressure up more. She just sprays you harder. All right, well, let's do a community service call out. If you've got a bad neighbour and you want to get it off your chest, will open the lines and you can vent to us because we know what it's like.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Well, if you have a worse neighbour than that, she also put a... Oh, that's another story. She's doing a lot of stuff. You need to talk to some therapists. All right, we'll take your calls now. 131065, what's your beef with your neighbour? Talking neighbours from hell.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Like above neighbours. That's still a neighbour, right? It's your above floor neighbour. Well, I think it has to be like one of the walls has to be touching. So my ceiling is her floor and my balcony is underneath her balcony and she waters me daily like she's watering the plants.
Starting point is 00:26:21 I don't even think... Like, I mean, we have multiple neighbours in the apartment block next door. I like some of them. I don't like some of them. I think if they're in a close enough vicinity to you, to where you live and they impact you in any way, they're your neighbour. Yep. So Britt has them.
Starting point is 00:26:32 It's been your neighbour. I've had neighbours from hell. I think it's an Australian universal experience. So 131065, get it off your chest. We've got Maddie. Hi. Tell us about your neighbour from hell. Hello.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Oh, my God. I'm starstruck at the moment. I'm so sorry. Stop it. No, keep going. We love you more. More, more, more. So me and my husband got home one day
Starting point is 00:26:52 and our neighbour had chainsawed our tree down from our front yard. She had pulled up all of our garden and had actually gone into our backyard and rearranged all of our furniture. What? Did she think she was at the wrong house? Why did she go into your backyard? The front, I get kind of...
Starting point is 00:27:10 She was crazy from the day we moved in, always doing all sorts of things, but this was our final straw and we contacted the real estate and we were like, we have just had enough, so we moved. It was great. I mean, that's a break and enter. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:27:25 I was like, she's literally come onto our property, into our backyard as well. Yay. Do you think she's been watching too many renovation design shows? Yeah. She doesn't want to do her own house, so she works on the neighbor. All right, let's go to Sinead on 131065. Hello, Sinead.
Starting point is 00:27:39 What's your neighbor story? Hi. Hi. I was at your live show last week and I absolutely loved it. Thank you so much, Sinead. Thank you. Massive OG fan. Thank you so much for coming.
Starting point is 00:27:50 We're so glad you had fun. We're still buzzing from it. Yeah. What's your story? So my beef with my neighbour is I live on the central coast in like suburbia and they won't let us park their car in front of their house, like on the street. And my sister like slept over one night and had her car parked in front of
Starting point is 00:28:06 their house and we woke up in the morning and they reversed their car deliberately like millimetres from the front of her car and then left a note saying don't park in front of our house, park across the street. Like, totally ridiculous. What? My mum's this person. Is she?
Starting point is 00:28:21 Yeah, my mum sits out the front of her house, peers through the Venetian blinds, and would bark like a dog if anyone parks out the front of her house. No, do you know what? You don't own the street. I know, but people get very territorial of their parking spots. No, because I think when things like this happen, it makes me think, God, your will must be so little
Starting point is 00:28:39 to be so angry about something like that. Oh, yeah, sure. It probably is. Yeah, I know. Sorry, Mrs. Churi. Yeah, no, she loves you guys, so she'll be really cut to hear that. No, but I kind of get that, but that is very annoying when you've got a neighbour who's leaving your notes.
Starting point is 00:28:53 All right, let's go to Ellen on 131065. Wrap it up for us, Ellen. Your neighbour from hell. What are they doing? Well, actually, we're the neighbour from hell. Oh, we have a confession. So our dog, he dug under the fence and our neighbours had a whole coop of chickens,
Starting point is 00:29:09 so he ate one of their chickens. and then we felt so awful about it. So we baked them a cake, we sent them money, we took them flowers. We felt awful. And then that night we get a knock on our front door and they come back with a tray of spring rolls, which they always make like delicious food
Starting point is 00:29:25 and they use a lot of their own produce. But as we were eating the spring rolls, we realised these spring rolls were made of chicken. Wait, they gave you the dead chickens in spring roll? Is that what you're saying? Yes, we put two and two together and there was their chicken was inside these spring rolls. Well, no, that means you're equally the neighbours from hell.
Starting point is 00:29:44 That is, you guys are even now. You can start fresh. Oh, they kept the dead chicken. Yes, we were trying to work out, like, is this revenge or what is this? Why don't you sleep with your dog in your bed for the time being, Ellen? I think that's probably for the safety of the animal. Goodness me. Keep your enemies closer.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Yeah. Don't take food from your neighbours. Goodness me. All right. That is us for the day. We're done, ladies. What's on the pod? Okay, we have an awesome episode coming up on the podcast this week.
Starting point is 00:30:07 It is such a saucy, sexy, wild little episode. So we're interviewing a woman named Jess and she is the owner of a sex club in Sydney. It is called Our Secret Spot and it's not even underground. It's just literally a sex club that runs from a Thursday through to a Saturday. You can buy a ticket and you can go and have a real wild time and we find out all about it. And you guys aren't going to find out about this, but what's wild is off air. She told us that there's a couple of A-listers that have been going there, but I mean, we're not going to spoil that. We're not going to tell that.
Starting point is 00:30:37 She's made a sign at an NDA, but it was absolutely wild. And I'm thinking that maybe we need to do some team bonding at the... You want to go to the sex club? What do you guys reckon? Would you go? Yeah, have a Christmas party there. Yeah, let's have a Christmas party. In the orgy room.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Yeah. Oh, nice. We can all, like, bring little sex presents. Secret Santa. That is it from us, guys. Please don't forget to tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your dog, tell your friends and share the love because... We love you!
Starting point is 00:31:02 See you in a week.
