Starting point is 00:00:00 A Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. This episode is recorded on Gadigal land of the Aurora Nation. Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Laura. I'm Brittany.
Starting point is 00:00:26 I'm Mitch. And this is our radio show where we meet up every Saturday morning on the airwaves across the country. And if you missed it live, which is probably why you're listening to it here, we package up all the best bits. It was such a fun show. Fuck, it was good, wasn't it? I mean, that laugh comes out.
Starting point is 00:00:43 I had a good old chuckle multiple times in this show. Many times. We spoke about Laura's crusty undergarments. They were not crusty. Okay, guys, I accidentally... Don't give it away. Don't give it away. I'm going to leave a little breadcrumb.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Oh, I wouldn't say breadcrumb. A crusty breadcrumb. I'm going to leave a little crusty crumb. Okay, so I accidentally took something with me to the airport that I wasn't supposed to. And I really wish that when you, you know when you check in and they're like, do you have anything flammable or anything, weapons? I really wish this was on the list
Starting point is 00:01:10 and then maybe I wouldn't have taken it into check-in. What, you think they'd put crusty? Yeah, it was a weapon. Oh, that's a weapon. Well, I need to get home because I need to find out if I got sent flowers or not. It's a scam, Britt. Well, I don't know if it is, but guys, I may or may not
Starting point is 00:01:28 have a secret admirer that has semi-flowers. It could be a scam, but highly likely it is. Laura isn't convinced. No, Laura's not convinced. Okay, if you have flowers, I will eat my pants. You were way too quick to tell me that there is no way I would have flowers at home. This is going to be very obscure for all of you listening right now,
Starting point is 00:01:45 but it's all coming up in the show. We're also speaking to Tom and Sarah Jane, who are from The Block. So if you're mad Block fiends, that was on today's show as well. That is it. All that and coming up. No, not November. We unpacked No Nut November. How could you forget, Laura?
Starting point is 00:01:56 How could you forget No Nut November? And also, we're asking people what their nut numbers are, which is a term we've coined. It was a lot. It was a great segment. Mitch is going to be our little test dummy for No Nut November. All that is coming up right now. Welcome back.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Saturday morning across the country. It's the Life on Car radio show with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne. And Brittany's a bit shaken. In the song, Something's Happened to You, Brittany. I don't know if shaken's the right word, but I haven't bought into people with Laura Byrne. Mate, I think she's a bit optimistic. That's what she is.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Yeah. Oh, oh, wait a minute. Kick me while I'm down. You know what? I'm not even going to call you Laura Byrne anymore. I'm going to call you Laura Bone because I have to pick some bones for you. Oh, that was terrible. That is an awful joke.
Starting point is 00:02:35 We got cancelled because Brittany had a terrible joke. So bad. Whose side are you on? Okay, I just want to tell you what just happened. And, like, Laura's, you know, one of my best friends, but she really knows where to cut me off at the feet. Okay, I just got a message just a couple of minutes ago in the break. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:48 And it's from a message called Go People. I don't know. I don't know these people. go people the message says eden and bell flower delivery a beautiful arrangement of flowers is on the way to you live track it here and then they sent a link right so i opened this message and i was like oh my god i'm getting i'm getting some flowers sent to me and i read the message out to laura without missing a beat she goes oh it's a scam it's a spam message don't hit the link well hang on i said whoa is it is it that far-fetched that i might be getting a flower
Starting point is 00:03:18 delivery that without even a breath you said it was a scam i'm so i'm here trying to protect you from all of the scam and spam artists there is a whole thing going around at the moment there are so many text messages that are popping up in people's inboxes which are like you know have a link or hyperlink but also okay my mom got one recently and this is i've got a bone to pee with my mom if she's listening to this my bone oh we've got a few to pick today my bone with you is that even at the start of this you just said um britney's been a bit optimistic by thinking that somebody, like, is it that crazy? You did rush to the scan. She hadn't even finished
Starting point is 00:03:51 your scan, yeah, for sure. I mean, like, in my defence, I mean, yes, there's not that many people out there that would send me flowers. Yes. Okay, let's how about we do this? Click the link. No. Click it. No. Click the link. I can't risk it. I'll have to wait till I get home. Click the link. If it takes you through to a tracking site, then we know that someone sent you flowers. Yeah, do it. Laura will pay for the
Starting point is 00:04:07 whole new phone. If it takes you through to some Nigerian website, then we know that it's not. Laura, people from Nigeria want to send me flowers too. So my mom recently she got a text message this is two weeks ago that said like hi mom um i've changed my number save this number right it was a it's a spam number and it's someone who's trying to scam her every couple of days i've been sending a message to my mom just kind of like one checking in on wedding staff trying to get her attention no reply there is scrolls now of me messaging her
Starting point is 00:04:35 and her not replying she doesn't like call it rings for a couple of times and hangs up anyway i contacted my sister today and i was like look this is getting a bit ridiculous can you ask mom why she stopped replying to me. My mum blocked my number because of a spam artist. She blocked my number and she's been talking to some other person thinking it's me. No, she hasn't. So she blocked you.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Instead of blocking the scammer, she blocked you and she's speaking to the scammer. Who's she talking to? I don't know. Someone in Nigeria that's sending me flowers. Oh, God. All right, be careful of the scams out there, everybody. All right, Laura, you have a wedding coming up too,
Starting point is 00:05:10 you poor thing. What on your plate? Is your mum even coming to the wedding? We don't know. We haven't heard from her in two weeks. I can't be sure. It's less than two weeks away. But what happened this week, no excuse, involves underwear, a trench coat and a guy you thought
Starting point is 00:05:21 was checking you out. It's a messy situation. Oh, no one would check you out. Oh, too soon? Oh, too soon. Yay. See what you did there? Click the link, Brittany.
Starting point is 00:05:29 We'll do it in the songs. Welcome, Saturday morning, right around Australia. Mouthful of food. Mitch, are you going to finish your mouthful, Mitch? No, sorry. I didn't realise that the song was ending. He's got a... What are you eating?
Starting point is 00:05:41 A chicken schnitzel wrap? I've got falafel. Why would you take a mouthful just before speaking? I thought the song was ending. Welcome, everyone. It did end. So did my career. Brittany Hockley, Laura Byrne.
Starting point is 00:05:53 And Mitch Chewy with a mouthful of falafel. Mitch Chewy, the sound of things today. No, it's been a tough week clearly for me and for Britt and for you, Laura. You've taken something on board a plane that wasn't necessarily included in the carry-on limit. Oh, God, was it a knife? No. Who's taking knives on planes, Brittany? Continue, please.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Okay, so I had to do a quick trip to Melbourne the other day. That was very good. I didn't even know you were gone. Yeah, well, it was just a day trip, you know, there and back, in and out. Very expensive flights are at the moment, though, mind you. That's another story. But I had to get dressed so early because my flight was one
Starting point is 00:06:25 of the first ones out at 6.30am. So I got dressed in the dark and I really like taking with me this, I have this, like, very long grey trench coat which has a... I know the coat well. Yeah, and it's one of those tie ones so it's got, like, a long tie strap. I've seen it, yeah, it's nice. because it's so cosy on a flight, also perfect for Melbourne weather.
Starting point is 00:06:42 It looks great. So I wasn't checking anything in because it was only a day flight, so I had my carry-on luggage. Also was kind of feeling myself like I felt like I looked good on that day. So here I am walking through the airport. I have my trench coat just slung over my arm, right, and my handbag. And that was it. I went through.
Starting point is 00:07:00 I left my house. I got into the Uber. I then got to the airport, got into the terminal. I went through the security checking. this is like an hour and a half of me walking around right then i went and got myself a coffee i went and got myself a croissant from another cafe wow and then i went and sat down at my gate and i then put my coat over the chair and i sat there you spread your seat around you got around the airport yeah okay for like an hour and a half okay as you do and you're having a great time you
Starting point is 00:07:26 go i'm early for my flight feeling myself okay so i sit down i put my coat down and this guy walks past and he looks at me and i'm like i feel like i don't get checked out at all anymore i really don't i feel like i give off very mum vibes and no one ever checks me out you don't notice it people are checking you no they're not this guy checked you out this guy checked me out but then he kind of looked a bit weird he didn't really look like he was checking me out he looked almost like a bit like what the hell is wrong with you look on his face oh god and i was like oh that's weird okay what's on my face and then i looked down and there on my trench coat stuck into the tail like the tie is a pair of dirty undies just i have a photo to show you mitch
Starting point is 00:08:06 because I was like, this could only happen to me. This is such an unbelievable thing that's happened. Your dirty undies? My dirty G-string was stuck. Like, I mean, you couldn't tell that it was dirty. It wasn't like it was crunchy or anything. It wasn't soiled. Laura Byrne, this visual is too much.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Do you get crunchy G-strings? No, but that's what I'm saying. It wasn't, you know, it was clean. Which means that she does sometimes, but this one wasn't. Everyone does sometimes, okay. Crunchy. This is the cousin thing again. Show us the photo.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Hold on. Who took this? Airport security? Oh, my God. It's very visible. It's very crusty. It's not crusty. They were just hanging.
Starting point is 00:08:46 They were literally just hanging. They were stuck into the tie and just hanging off my coat the whole way. The guy at security didn't even say anything, and he would have seen them. And you were walking around like Elle Woods with your trench coat draped, feeling yourself, and everyone, oh, no. You never know when you're going to need a spare pair of undies. Do you know, speaking of, you've just reminded me,
Starting point is 00:09:05 speaking of this airport, so last week was my sister's wedding it was up it was up north um it was a scottish wedding now my best friend simon came up for the wedding and he got pulled up in airport security excuse me sir you've got a knife in your bag and simon was like i would not travel with a knife i don't they're like well we need to search your bag they open his bag and he has a dagger because the dagger because he's wearing a kilt for the scottish wedding a dagger goes in the sock right so a dagger It's part of the kilt. And so Simon said, oh, yes, sorry, the dagger, sir.
Starting point is 00:09:34 It's part of my kilt for a Scottish wedding. And then they said, no worries, on your way. And because it was part of... No. Traditional kilt. Not kidding. God smacked. They also had no problem with my dirty undies either.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Which is a weapon in itself. All right. We want to know if you can top it. What was your embarrassing wardrobe malfunction? Call us now, 131065. Do you have crunchy? Crunchy undies? Crunchy undies too.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I don't have crunchy undies. Maybe Laura could be the next ambassador for Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes. Crunchy peanut butter. Can we please stop? You're making me feel sick. All right, we'll take your calls next. The judgement, the shame. There's no judgement.
Starting point is 00:10:09 A little bit. Just tiny bit. Right now talking wardrobe malfunctions, although it sort of just is your life in a shambles like Laura Burns because that's the crux of it. Sorry. There's so many ways we can go with this. Mitch, surely you've had a wardrobe malfunction.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Surely you've been somewhere and, you know, you accidentally popped out a nipple by accident. He took his G-string. It's all right for me to pop out a nipple. You know what happened? In my, HSC is actually happening right now, like final exams for schools. Oh, good luck to everybody who's doing them.
Starting point is 00:10:37 It's so sincere. I know. Wow, so from the heart. It's so, no, it's so stressful. I meant that. No, I agree. I agree. It's very stressful.
Starting point is 00:10:45 And put yourself in my shoes. I'm a performer. I did drama and I was like top of my class. Couldn't tell. Well, I was dressed in like an old English uniform and it was really, really tight because I had to get it from like a costume shop. Anyway, long story short,
Starting point is 00:10:57 I couldn't wear undies because you could see them through the pants. And it was Comedia dell'arte, of course, traditional comedian. And I rolled on the stage and my pants ripped and my testicles fell out. It's a true story. They just squished out the bottom. They didn't squish. They rolled out. They fell.
Starting point is 00:11:11 They rolled. Is this something that you could have continued the role to cover or did everyone see them? Yeah, top of the year. Ben, six, baby. But is that why he topped the reel? Because he really added that extra nut. This is a really inspiring conversation for all the Year 12 students out there.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Yeah, it is. All right, let's go to Renee on 131065. What was your wardrobe malfunction? Hi. Yeah, hi. I'm a swimmer, so I, you know, you see on TV and you see those swimmers with those, like, really tight race bathers on.
Starting point is 00:11:37 I had those on. I was standing behind the blocks ready to race and I was, like, doing my pre-race warm-up and I looked down and they had split at the crotch and I was about to race. Oh, and you were about to race. And let me guess, were you doing, like, that froggy one, breaststroke?
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yeah. Oh, that's real crutchy. I was joking, but you were. How much of a split are we talking? Well, not quite all the way, but I was so worried that, like, after the race, because I was doing breaststroke, that it was going to split all the way and I'm going to get out with a stand full of people and I'm just going to flush everyone.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Very easy access if you need to go to the toilet, though. Yeah. Oh, definitely. Turning a one-piece into a two-piece. Thank you, Renee. Meg on 131065. Hi, what was your wardrobe malfunction? Hi.
Starting point is 00:12:20 I was walking on a date with a guy that I'd just met and I ripped my pants doing a cartwheel. Why are you doing a cartwheel? No, but hang on, not just a cartwheel, but why are we doing the cartwheel on the day? Is that where I'm going wrong? Maybe. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:12:38 I don't think it is. Well, it was one of those COVID dates, so I had to, like, spice it up a little bit, you know. And that was just, like, it was during COVID. Meg, there are so many problems with this. I think maybe that's where you're going wrong. Maybe you shouldn't be doing those acrobatics on a first date. Did it work?
Starting point is 00:12:53 Are you with him? Um, yeah, no, she loved it. I bet he did. It was like the easiest date he's ever had. Wait, did you end up doing any other kind of acrobatics? He gave me his jumper to tie around his waist afterwards as well. Like, what a gentleman. Are you together now?
Starting point is 00:13:08 No. Okay, so at the end of the day, it didn't work. Bella, wrap this up for us. What was your wardrobe malfunction? Hello. Hello. So I was at this party. I was feeling great.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I looked, I thought I looked amazing. I was wearing this Paris Hilton-esque silver metal halter neck top. Oh, the niche ones. Yes, one of those. They're like Glomesh. The only thing holding this top together was this metal chain across my back, literally the size of a necklace. Little did I know, someone had grabbed me earlier in the night
Starting point is 00:13:36 and that chain had ripped off one side of the top. And because I was, you know, under the influence, I didn't realize that it happened until 10 minutes later. I looked down at myself and my top was no longer a top. It was a necklace hanging around my neck. and my chicken fillets were out for the whole party. Do you know what? That's in fashion these days.
Starting point is 00:13:56 People wear their nipples as an accessory. It's fine. I was going to say, it's only if it was, yeah, it was 10 years ago, Laura. This was not in fashion then. Wearing chicken fillets to a party with just a necklace was not in fashion. You poor thing. It was not a vibe. Did you hook up that night?
Starting point is 00:14:07 No, I actually met my ex-partner. Oh, brilliant. Hang on, you met your partner? No, but he's now my ex-partner. Oh, God. Wow, what a rollercoaster this has been. We hate that guy anyway. If you're fans of The Block, coming up, we've got a surprise for you.
Starting point is 00:14:21 But right now, it's time for this. So Ask Uncut is an episode we do on the podcast every Thursday. It is where we answer your deep, your dark and your burning questions. And I have one that is university related and I think it's very topical for the time of year. I have just finished my uni degree, but earlier in the year decided it wasn't really for me and it wasn't what I wanted to do for work.
Starting point is 00:14:44 I'm now feeling lost and unsure where to go from here. Unsure what I'm even interested in and what kind of job I want to do. Do you have any tips on finding your feet in terms of jobs and working out what to do with your life? Wow, very timely. HSC exams are right now. I think that this is a really common problem. I don't know how else you're supposed to get to where you want to be
Starting point is 00:15:04 in terms of finding what you're interested in. You said you don't know what it is you're interested in. I think you need to just start doing things that you love and then try and find a channel or an avenue for that. So it might be a hobby, you might be passionate about art, you might be super interested in medicine, whatever it is, start to dabble in those things. Maybe you can volunteer at places, you can get work experience
Starting point is 00:15:26 and then that's how you find an avenue to where you want to be. Yeah, and I guess for me, like I think sometimes you can go through a university degree. This is what I did. I did my postgraduate degree in fine arts and it was only eight weeks until like the final when I was supposed to actually graduate that I dropped out of my postgraduate. Right at the end.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Right at the end, right before the finish line, I was like, nah, not for me. But the reason for that is because I realised I absolutely did not want to do a career that was in fine arts and here I am doing podcasting and radio. And, you know, I'm 36 now. I will share that out there with the world, but I'm 36. I'm doing something that's completely different
Starting point is 00:16:00 to what when I did university I thought I would do with my life. But you only started podcasting three, four years ago. Totally, and I think that sometimes you think that once you've invested so much time in something, especially university, that then you have to do it because otherwise it was a waste. But I like to look at it as though I spent all this time, I learnt so many new things,
Starting point is 00:16:16 but I know that it's what I don't want to do. So there's never the question of what if for me. I mean, when I say go and start to do other things that interest you to find your feet, I'm using myself as an example. So I did a medical radiation degree and I worked in that for 10 years. Okay, I did that degree when I was young.
Starting point is 00:16:31 I worked in hospitals for 10, 12 years. And now you're a podcaster like me. But at the same time, all through my 20s, as a hobby, I went to acting school. because I was really interested in entertainment and I still loved what I did, but I knew it wasn't forever. I didn't think I wanted to actually go and pursue anything with the acting, but I loved it, so I did it.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And now I'm literally completely in another industry. I'm in complete entertainment. Yeah, well, similarly to me, like I did a performance degree. I studied acting and then didn't act and then fell into radio. But now the acting stuff's coming back into play and like I'd be dumb to say that the acting studies haven't played into my radio career. It's dramatic.
Starting point is 00:17:06 And I think a big thing with this, like just go easy on yourself. There's so much pressure. This goes for anyone who's sitting in their HSC. This goes for anyone who's just graduated uni. There's so much pressure to have it all figured out. But your life is long and you may change careers 10 times in your lifetime. And that is absolutely okay. And the thing is that I really want to drive home is you are never too old to start something new.
Starting point is 00:17:28 And I used to feel like that. I used to be like, oh, it's too, you know, I'm already 30. I can't start something fresh. Like I've already dedicated all this time. But you can because you're never going to be as young as you are today. That was so deep. That was hot. There we go.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Put that on a tote bag. Can we sell it at the merch store? Shit, the book's already printed. We have to do another one. We'll write another one. All right, if you want to get in touch with the girls, hit us up, Life Uncut Podcast on Instagram. We're back after this with the stars of The Block,
Starting point is 00:17:53 Tom and Sarah Jane. They're the faves to win. The Block is like a mega rating success. Their house is so sick. Yeah. It's amazing. So sick. I thought that you were like a pubescent teenage boy right then.
Starting point is 00:18:05 It's so sick, bro. Do you think it's fully sick? I think it's fully. It's lit, legit lit sick. It's also such a vibe. Anyway, let's go. And you didn't want people to know you were 36, did you? They know.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Right now, the stars of the highest rating show on Australian TV at the moment, almost 1.5 million views, The Block, is a sensational show. People love it. And the frontrunners, Tom and Sarah-Jane, join us this morning. Hello, guys. Welcome. Hi, mate. How are you?
Starting point is 00:18:31 Hi, guys. Is it absolutely wild to know that 1.5 million people are tuning in to watch you at night? Yeah, it is a little bit bizarre. I don't know. I don't really sit at home and think of it like that. But once you've said it, it's great. Once I make you feel really uncomfortable. But we do see, you guys have been so entertaining.
Starting point is 00:18:49 We see the disagreements and the bickering, but then the love and the making up. What is it like to sit in your living room at night together and watch yourself back? Do you watch it back and like cringe at yourself? when you watch it back being like, oh, I look banging. Look at us go. No, we don't really cringe. We're pretty comfortable with ourselves.
Starting point is 00:19:07 It's fun. We've been finding it pretty entertaining to watch. So we get to, I don't know, watch ourselves from like a third wheel's perspective. So it's been pretty funny actually. I definitely don't go, damn, when I look at myself. So I'm like, God, why didn't I just make more of an effort? Because you were renovating a house.
Starting point is 00:19:23 That's why you didn't make any effort. And just to be clear, just to be clear, I don't look at you guys and think you cringe either. That's not what that question was. When I watched myself back on The Bachelor, I cringed a lot. So that's where that question came from. Oh, no. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:19:35 We know that we're a bit of a different bunch. So, like, we fully... We are what we are, you know? You can't change yourself, unfortunately. I don't think people... I think people are loving watching you guys on the screens. But what I want to know is, with all the bickering, have you found that the experience has changed your relationship in any way?
Starting point is 00:19:52 Nah, not at all, really. Maybe we should ask Sarah Jane. Yeah, I think I'll switch over to Sarah. I don't like to go on a holiday on my own, but no, it's pretty good. I know you guys... I don't like to go on a holiday as well. Well, will it be a road trip, perhaps? Would you be driving in a road trip in a new Ford Ranger, maybe?
Starting point is 00:20:10 Yeah, maybe a new $80,000 car. Yeah, would you be driving in a new car, maybe? Oh, if we go buy one, yeah. Oh! Well, you guys the whole show have been saying how much you want that Ford Ranger, and if you win tomorrow night's challenge, you'll be getting it. Yeah. Oh, Tommy has wanted that Ranger.
Starting point is 00:20:25 As soon as we found out that if you won landscaping, you got it, Tom's had his eye on the prize from week two. So fingers crossed for all of our hard work and our landscapers' hard work pays off. Sarah, just honk twice if you can give us a clue. You in it now? I'm blinking. Sarah-Jane, you have received so much praise from Shaina
Starting point is 00:20:46 around your amazing styling and your designs. Do you think that this is a career that you're going to get into after you leave the block? Sorry, it just still makes me laugh that, like, she thinks that I do great stuff. Like, it's lovely, but it's just so, like, mind-blowing to me. I don't really know. Like, I wouldn't even know where to start.
Starting point is 00:21:04 You know, I have no... I don't have any friends in the design, you know, world, but I enjoy being creative and, you know, never say never. You are... You won the leaderboard. You get to choose the auction, like, the schedule, the order. Now, are you going to stitch anyone up? No, we're just... No.
Starting point is 00:21:21 We're just hanging tight to hear reserves, to be honest, so we haven't made any decisions yet, to be totally honest. Like, auction order is far too important to, like, use it for your own kind of, like, vendettas, you know, to stitch anyone up. You just have to be really, really smart and just think about, okay, forget about loyalties, forget about who you like, dislike. Like, you just choose whatever you hope is going to benefit yourself at the end of the day. Because, I mean, you want everyone to do well, and you generally do, but you obviously want your hard work to pay off the most. Well, at the end of the day, you're there for yourself, aren't you? Well, we'll tell Rachel that the friendship's out the window when it comes to auction time.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Rachel's on next, so we'll tell her. I'd want to ask quickly, guys, before we let you go, a lot of drama this season. It's a reality show, of course there'll be drama. That's why we love it. Even Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, they bring some drama themselves. But at the very start of the season, we had a couple walk off the block and they had to bring another duo in.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Oh, Elle Ferguson. Elle Ferguson. Was that as dramatic as it seemed? It was all over the press. Like, what actually happened there? Did you see them go and go? Where are they going? Totally forgot about those people.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Guys, good luck in the auctions. Good luck tomorrow night. Congrats on the Ford Ranger. That's so exciting. That came off the ground. The Block is back tomorrow night. Seven to block on Channel 9. One week to go until the big finale.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Tom and Sarah Jane, thanks for coming on, guys. Thanks, guys. Thank you so much. See you guys. It was a pleasure. All right, we're back after this. No Nut November's about to kick off. I can't believe I just said that.
Starting point is 00:22:47 It's a thing, believe it or not, Mitch Turi. I mean, I just read what's written in front of me. Am I doing No Nut November? Yeah. This is a challenge we've got set for you, Mitch Turi. Is it like Movember? Do you do it a lot? Yeah, no nut November is just you growing out all of your pubic hair.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Nah, you're going to find out after the break. All right. I'm sweating a bit, girls, because all that I have written in front of my plan sheet for the show today is discuss no nut November. What do you think it is, Mitch Jury? Well, people that have nut allergies, they want to bring exposure to anaphylaxis.
Starting point is 00:23:15 No macadamias for you this coming November. No walnuts, I can do it. No, okay, so you've heard of... No walnuts, I can do it. You've heard of Movember, obviously. Like November, I think it's synonymous with doing Movember. That's the challenge that everyone knows about. And that's when you grow a moustache.
Starting point is 00:23:28 It's for prostate cancer, yeah? Yes. I mean, it has a real purpose. That's actually like a, you know, an important meaningful purpose for raising money for charity. Yeah. There's another challenge that's making headlines this year. Now it is called No Nut November.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Right. I mean, it's not no walnuts. It is not for charity. I don't think it's for anything except for maybe a little bit of self, can we even call it self-satisfaction? Basically, the rules are that you have to abstain from any sex, from any pleasuring of yourself for the whole entire month of November. Now, the reason for this is because I'm sure a lot of people have noticed that on social media and across the internet, there's been this real sexual revolution over the past couple of months and years where I think that there's a lot more sex positive talks. There's a lot more sexologists who are using Instagram who are promoting self-pleasure.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Now, Know Not November is saying that people are having vibrated dependencies and that we all need to detox from the sex. Okay, is this like Movember where it's a charity and you raise money? Because I don't think it would go down very well if you went up to some friends or people on the street and you're like, hi, I haven't made s**t for seven days now, can you pay me? Yeah, and I've got mates who do Movember and they post daily photos of the programs.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Like, what do you post? I don't know how this is going to go down. I don't know if I'm, like, I think I'm on board. If you want to do this, if you want to abstain, i think that's great but do we need to make it a revolution that we like share it but the thing that's interesting is like the reason why this has come about is because there's a train of thought and now i'm not saying that this is correct by any means but there's a train of thought that if you can't abstain from any sort of pleasure for a month that you're therefore addicted to it but
Starting point is 00:25:02 i think that this personally i think that what this does is it goes and it tries to undo all the sex positive conversation that's happening because it makes it shameful again i don't think it's shameful i i have read a lot of uh i don't know if i would say like medical journals but a lot of information about the benefits of abstaining what are they well it can give you a lot of mental clarity it can a lot of athletes do it a lot of athletes do it before they play big games and big matches because they want all the energy inside them that's not a joke it does it all the testosterone and everything stays in you it's supposed to be really really great as like this holistic approach and i'm saying supposed to because i'm do not take this as gospel i can't
Starting point is 00:25:41 I can't imagine too many scientists are putting a lot of money and research into it, are they? You'd be surprised, Laura Byrne. I think there probably would be a lot out there. But, I mean, like, I've been doing this for a long time, not on purpose, but I'm just... Oh, you've unintentionally... I've unintentionally...
Starting point is 00:25:52 Oh, you've done No Nut 2022. OK, well, good luck to everyone in No Nut November. Mitch, my question is, will you do this? I think I could, yeah. I've got my wedding in November. I'd like to consummate my marriage. Oh, so you're not going to partake? Yeah, nah.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Well, I'll do it for the show. How about that? But I'm not going to say I'm going to do it for the whole month. I'll see how long I can go, then I'll report back in a couple of weeks. I heard it here first. I think you need to try and go for the whole month, and I want to see you sweating and uncomfortable by week number four. I'm going to assume Hayden's not on board with this,
Starting point is 00:26:18 and I don't think you should be making these promises to us without him. Hold on. I want to know, I guess. I want to see if it's achievable, right? So why don't we open the lines? How long could someone go? Like, what's the longest you haven't nutted? Brittany Hockley, I want to know.
Starting point is 00:26:30 What's the longest you? Being the single one. No, hold it, because we'll do it with the callers. Because she's going to have to go through her diary and her DMs. I'm going to go through my list. All right, this is a terrible call-out. Let's find out then, hey? Nut numbers, next.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Call up with your nut number. 131065. Almost into November, or as we here at the show are referring to it, no nut November. And that is not a nut walnut. It is not a cashew nut. Pistachio. It is abstaining from your own self-pleasure.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Or pleasure with a partner. Intimacy. Well, I mean, you can still be intimate. You can still cuddle, but maybe don't cuddle too much or it might lead to a nutting. It's just the sexual part. That's what it's abstaining from. And we want to know, what's your nut number?
Starting point is 00:27:11 So how long have you gone, maybe unbeknowings to you or you just didn't realise or just sort of time got away from you, how long has it been since you've been intimate? The question is why do we want to know this? We don't know, but we want to know. I'm sorry, you called us, Laura, and you begged. Remember, Brittany, she called us on the way and she said, we have to do No Nut November.
Starting point is 00:27:27 We went, really? And now she's like, why are we talking? I did not beg. I just think it's very, very funny and very interesting that there's a whole movement. What's your nut number? How long have you and Matty gone, or you personally? Oh, do you know what?
Starting point is 00:27:39 Me and Matt, we've probably gone months. Well, we went months because I had two kids. Yeah. So I would say... Do you mean months like whilst pregnant or months after because of... Do you know what? Too much information. But Matt's pretty fine when I'm pregnant.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Like he quite enjoys me being pregnant, so that doesn't turn him off. Whereas for some guys, it's a turn off. Wow. But once I hit full term, because I went over for so many weeks with Marley, once I hit full term, he was like, no, no, not interested. and then probably for like three months afterwards. I think when Marley was like three months old. So that's a long time.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Twelve weeks. What about you, Britt? I don't know. I don't time it. I don't like set a little, you know how you put the strokes on the day? So I don't do that. Like you're in jail on the wall. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:18 But I reckon probably if I had to guess, I reckon I went one year where I went probably close to ten months. Oh, wow. Yeah. Post-breakout. No Nut Brittany. Yeah, No Nut Brittany. Brittany didn't get sent flowers.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Brittany didn't have a good year that year. Brittany Nutley. Courtney, what's your nut number? Hello, you're on 131065. How long did you go? I went six months. Six months? In a relationship, Courtney?
Starting point is 00:28:38 Oh, yeah, in a relationship. Look, if that was just a plain dry spell, no problem. But we were living together. Why do you reckon that is? Oh, well, I found out in the end that obviously he was helping himself elsewhere. So, you know, that left me. He was going to an Oikini buffet elsewhere. Oikini, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:54 And this buffet over here was giving all she could to get there, but just didn't want any part of that. I mean, like, I'm glad. He's an ex, right? Oh, yeah. Well, long gone. We hate that guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:06 He's a douchebag. Six months. I mean, that is a long time. Well, that just makes you think. I know for some people you can go a long time without having any, you know, intimacy in your relationship. So for some people, it's definitely a symbol or sign that there's something wrong. And for some people, it's completely fine and normal.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Yeah. Well, Hayley, she's got kids. Hayley, how long did you go without being intimate? About a year. In a relationship? Yes. And that was, you've got kids, do you, Hayley? I have one daughter, yes.
Starting point is 00:29:32 And how, okay, did you, are we still in the year now or have we passed the year? Because what was it like the very first time after a year? You'd be like, hello, nice to meet you. Gosh, we've passed the year and it's still going. So you're still like 12, 14 months, 15 months? You're in it. Yeah, still in it.
Starting point is 00:29:53 To be clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. People go through their ebbs and flows. It is what it is. But do you feel like you want to go and, like, get that back on track? Do you feel like you need to go on, like, a little weekend, a spicy little weekend? Yeah, definitely I think you need that escape from reality. And it's so hard once you have kids.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Like, it really is. I think people so underestimate just how much it changes everything about your life. Can I just say, for everyone playing at home, we got thousands of responses and there are so many people that, like, eight to 12 months is pretty standard. It is pretty average. So don't think you're an anomaly if you are in a no-nut situation
Starting point is 00:30:28 and it's not just November. Don't think you're an anomaly. It seems to be a pretty common thing and you can get that back on track. And we can't wait to see Mitch at the end of no-nut November. I give him a week. Excuse you. I'll give you daily check-ins. All right, let's go.
Starting point is 00:30:42 We all love keeping up with the Kardashians, but this week we've all been keeping up with Kanye West. It is an absolute mess, isn't it? The Kanye carnage is what we're calling it. Oh, that's good. Carnage. Carnage. This whole, like, cancel culture thing that's been going around for a while,
Starting point is 00:30:55 I've never been on board with it. And I never actually thought somebody like Kanye West, who seems to be able to get away with anything he wants to, I never thought he'd be cancelled. But I think he's on his way to being cancelled. I think it's bigger than cancelled as well. No, because he still has a lot of supporters. He does.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Kanye West has a lot of supporters. Kanye West, there are things that he could do and say where people would never turn their back on him. Like, they're these fan fanatics. But there's a lot of people that have been big supporters publicly of Kanye that have now turned their back on him. Absolutely. Well, I think what's happened recently with his anti-Semitic statements.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Yeah, what's happened? Can we set it up? Okay, so it started off, we spoke about it a couple of weeks ago. It started off at the fashion show where he wore the White Lives Matters T-shirt. That was the first one. So Balenciaga dropped him after the show and there were some other labels and brands that distanced themselves very, very quickly after that. And Kim and his family distanced as well.
Starting point is 00:31:44 But the one big brand that didn't was Adidas. Now, everyone knows Yeezys. They bring in like $1.7 billion a year is brought in through Adidas from selling Yeezys, which is an insane amount of money. Like the partnership, it's so lucrative for Yee, but it's also so incredibly lucrative for them. And it's exclusive. So they make, he designs them, they produce the Yeezys.
Starting point is 00:32:04 100%. And so what's happened is he came out and said, you know, I can pretty much say whatever the hell I want to and Adidas can't drop him and they won't drop him. It was almost like teasing them, wasn't it? It was on a podcast. It was insane. And what he said, I won't repeat because it was truly disgusting
Starting point is 00:32:18 and it was very anti-Semitic. And the thing is, it took Adidas two weeks, but they dropped him. And not only did they drop him, and I know that there's been a lot of backlash on social media. People are saying that Adidas took too long, but they had already invested in $250 million worth of Yeezys that they now have to just get rid of. They've got to slash these.
Starting point is 00:32:39 They're going to end up in landfill. And I think for a company to do that, it takes them time to make that decision. It's such a huge decision to make and I'm really glad that in this instance they put their morals and their ethics over money. Well, you even look at Kanye's influence. He has, I mean, I wear Yeezys because I like the design. I'm not buying them to support Kanye.
Starting point is 00:32:56 But would you still buy them now, Mitch? I don't think I'd be able to. Well, they have gone bonkers online. On eBay, people are selling the Yeezys that they've got for a ridiculous amount. So people are still quickly trying to capitalise on them, but they're not going to cease selling. He's going to continue the line with someone else.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Yes, but this is the thing. So everyone's now saying about Adidas, they're sort of saying, and this is when I say everyone, it's playing out across social media, but the conversation is that Adidas has only folded because of the public pressure. But I think ultimately they probably would have still sold those shoes because I think had they played the long-term game, they probably still would have been able to sell them.
Starting point is 00:33:31 But there's just this, there's a moral responsibility. You cannot align yourself with someone who says the things that he says. And now I know it's very well documented that he has bipolar disorder, that there has to come a line where, you know, it's not just kind of swept under the rug as though, oh, he's not well. I mean, like Balenciaga, Gap, Vogue, they all dropped him.
Starting point is 00:33:50 He got banned from Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, but I've seen him on Instagram now. So he's only got two posts. So I don't know. I don't know what happened there. Did they ban him and then they've let him back on? No, that's what he does. That's a Kanye thing.
Starting point is 00:34:01 He just deletes his posts, puts them up, deletes them, puts them up. He shares like secret text messages between Kim and his management. But it's also that thing. Do we stop talking about him? Should we? Because we're bringing exposure to it.
Starting point is 00:34:10 It's a hard discussion. And you know what? He is the PR media king, isn't he? Even though the things that he's saying are so problematic, he knows how to get people to talk about him. He knows how to stay current and relevant and I don't think he's going to go away. I think we talk about it now because it's happening
Starting point is 00:34:24 and then I think we're done with it. We drop it. I think we drop him and we don't give him the time of day anymore because people like him don't deserve it. We're cancelling Yee. We're dropping him. We're done. The release of press statement.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Life Uncut drops Yee. You heard it here first. It's Yee, not Yee. Yeah, we drop Yee too. Yee, we drop Yee. what's happening on the podcast this week ladies we have an amazing episode on the podcast this week it is a bit more of a serious one actually a lot more of a serious one we have interviewed a woman named nina hajian and nina is a she's a radio presenter she's also iranian and she's
Starting point is 00:34:53 talking about all the protests and what has been happening in iran since masa amini's death over there and i know i know so many people would have heard about it but for me i didn't know a lot about what has been happening and what the protests were about and what has been kind of the flow on effect in society in Iran and these protests that are happening with all these young women. So we wanted to really kind of better understand why it's been such a global thing this time
Starting point is 00:35:17 and that's exactly what the podcast is about. It's a truly wonderful episode that everybody should get their ears around. So that's Tuesday, Dropping Tuesday, Life Uncut podcast. And on that note, we are signing out. So don't forget, tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your dog, tell your friends and share the love because we love love!
Starting point is 00:35:34 You never get it right. I'm nervous about No Nut November. Damn.
