Starting point is 00:00:00 Life Uncut acknowledges the traditional custodians of country. We pay our respects to their elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. This episode was recorded on Darug, Wollongatta land. Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. This is our radio show. This is where we podcast up. No, it's not. This is where we get all the best bits of the week from the radio, from the pickup. We put it in one tiny little cute package, the best of the best and we bring it to you i'm britney and i'm laura and i'm mitchell hello it has been a
Starting point is 00:00:35 very very big week and mitch we haven't actually seen you yet we finished the the live show tour but we were on different flights home so we hadn't really seen you we didn't get to say goodbye we didn't get to hug i know that was sad the best part of the tour for me was like us getting off the plane and just getting different food like laura always got sushi yeah remember you always went to get laura's like i need sushi you always get sushi yeah mitch that was the best part of the tour was getting off the flight and getting sushi from the airport oh it's a compliment to the relationship because it was the my point is it's the little moments like it was the the chats in the bus and the hotel room hangs and you know those be all the behind the scenes in between
Starting point is 00:01:13 stuff yeah what I really thought it was I thought it was you sneaking into the lounge with um your dad's access pretty much every time that was your highlight can you believe I got away with that I literally just walked straight in I went into the business class lounge with an expired business class entry so many times i actually didn't think i'd miss it but i really miss being on the road it was so fun no you don't you were so tired you were so like by the end of it you were like oh my god i need to sleep for seven no but i miss you guys i miss hanging with you and like the chats and don't you guys miss it or no you happy it's over we're still in the shows laura's like hey let's plan next year i'm like we'll take it cowboy wait this is the first i'm hearing of
Starting point is 00:01:48 next year wait are we doing it well not we know we need a breather and we'll talk about it next year. I'm glad we've all agreed. We're doing it next year. Is this awkward because I wasn't invited and now you guys have to bring it up in front of me and offer me to do it again? No, we will be discussing it next year. Consider this your official invite. It's true.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Also, not to pull back the curtain too far, but I was never really offered this. It was just like Mitch, you're coming on tour. Pack your bag. Because you begged for it. We didn't have to offer it. You already wanted it. We're like, we know he's going to say yes. We didn't have to make a formal No, it was very fun.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I loved it. I had the best time. Mitch, we haven't actually properly publicly thanked you, but you were very brilliant. You did your job so well. You were an amazing MC, amazing stand-up comic. You got the crowd going. You came on and did all the sex positions in the middle.
Starting point is 00:02:38 You were like worth your weight in gold. The $4 we paid you, you earned every dollar. Thank you, guys. The two gold coins. I really appreciate it. No, I had so much fun. Thank you for letting me be part of it. And, you know, we all love each other.
Starting point is 00:02:50 vibe was the it was the right vibe for the show you know the audience already like had the connection it was a nice fit i loved i really did enjoy that um at 90 of the shows you threw me under the bus by saying that i was in the bathroom shitting myself every show was me that's why it's funny you threw laura on the bus but every show was actually were they solid poos like because they were so quick really do we know i think um no i don't know i don't think i'll talk about the consistency but i think um it was all the different food we're eating like it doesn't i have a very sensitive stomach and then you always have to do like that pre-show nervous poop we're talking about it with sam fisher he does it before every show every single thing he does he always does a
Starting point is 00:03:27 nervous poop yeah well the last thing you want is for that to hit you mid what's it called we didn't have one show no the intermission you don't want to hit you pre-intermission we didn't have an intermission and that would have been a real problem but anyway i love that we've just spent the entire time instead of talking about mitch and your contribution to the show we've talked about shitting at the show can i actually say though genuinely thank you to you girls i mean on my dream you know me personally right i've been in radio for 10 years but like my dream is always to do stand up and to let me have 10 minutes of your airtime and in front of your audience to do it and i'm i'm untested in in making jokes you know like emceeing is different and hyping up
Starting point is 00:04:03 the crowd but i like went away and wrote jokes about you guys and about my dating life and i had an accidentally unfiltered but for you to let me do it like really genuinely from the bottom of my heart thank you because it was very affirming for me and you know the year i've had i've spoken about it here like it's been a shitty year so it was such a nice um sort of full circle moment after the last six months for me so thank you for letting me have that we love you mitch yeah but also i mean and i know for anyone who's listening who came to live shows and there's so many of you like mitch you were amazing and people absolutely loved it like there wasn't there's nobody who could have done what you did up there on stage and we appreciate you so much
Starting point is 00:04:40 It was fucking phenomenal. All right, that's enough deep stuff. Let's get into the show. I'm going to talk today about something I feel like I know a lot about, and that is dating etiquette. I love talking about dating etiquette because there's so many variables in who pays for a first date, where you should go, what you should set up, how do you text after it,
Starting point is 00:04:56 and there's one woman that's going viral for the text message she received from her date. Well, I mean, Britt, you've shared a story before. It is something that you have experienced in a date. I've had so many shit dates. No, but you, like, specifically, a guy, what he did on a first date, which was absolutely fucking wild. Also, I have a story.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Probably the last two, a story we'll tell. But remember what happened on the Gold Coast when we walked off the plane onto the tarmac and I screamed like I was that woman in Home Alone? Like, something happened on the tarmac that cost me a lot of money and stressed me out. Like, something came out of my handbag. I have a handbag.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Your man. It's a man's bag. Something came out of my handbag. Also, I'm so radio. I'm, like, teasing. My parking ticket came out on the tarmac and it went into the turbine of the plane. But you'll hear the story in more detail.
Starting point is 00:05:40 All right. And also, you guys, if you've been following me on Instagram, you would know that Lola has recently started posing like she's an Instagram model. It's ridiculous. It's come out of nowhere. And as much as we are very, like Matt and I, are very social media literate,
Starting point is 00:05:52 we are so, like, conscious about that around our kids. We don't, you know, as much as we take photos with them, they don't know the world of social media because they're two and they're four. They don't know about posing. They don't know what their angles are. But somehow Lola has discovered this and, look, I'm blaming the two of you. Classic.
Starting point is 00:06:11 We defend ourselves. Anyway, let's get into the show. Now, as a mum, this is something that I really have to think about as well, not just because I'm a mum but because I work a lot on social media and, you know, we have public quote-unquote profiles. But it's the consideration as to how I expose my kids to social media and how I expose them to things like screen time and, you know, taking photos and all that world because they're so little. And I think we do a very good job of
Starting point is 00:06:38 trying to be conscious about having our phones out and about how we act around our phones with our kids. Even though we put them on social media, we're trying to find a really good balance of this. I'm not a mummy influencer, no shame to them, but we don't dress our kids up in matching outfits. They are kids and they're allowed to be kids. Now, the other day we went and took Lola out and we were going out for a dog walk she had Buster on a lead and I was like honey you look so cute can I take a photo of you and Lola's two mind you
Starting point is 00:07:07 and she stops and she says yes mummy and then she pops a leg puts her hand on her hip and poses for the photo. I think I saw this she looks great. She looks like runway ready. I was impressed. Girlfriend it was baby Gigi Hadid I was like
Starting point is 00:07:23 you can pop a pose what is going on here anyway I thought maybe this was a one off no no no no every time the camera comes out now and I go to take a photo of Lola, she does a proper little pose. Whether she's sitting, whether she's standing, no matter what she's doing, if she sees a camera, she'll stop,
Starting point is 00:07:39 freeze, it's pose. So she has been looking at you then around the house. And the girlfriend knows her angles. Well, no, because we don't pose for photos. When we have family photos and stuff, it's big mouth open, it's arms up in the air, it's happy. I've seen you do a toe point Laura. You are prone to a little toe point. This is past
Starting point is 00:07:55 a toe point. This has gone too far. She's two and she should not know her way around a phone or social media. Anyway, yesterday we were all together. Lola had been with you, Britt, also with you, Mitch. Yeah. And I went to take a photo of her and she did the same thing. And I was like, sweetie, why are you doing that? And she said, Aunty Brittany does that.
Starting point is 00:08:19 She was like, I want to be like Aunty Brittany. Hang on, what I'm hearing is Aunty Brittany is similar to Gigi Hadid. that's what i'm taking from that's not the point i think i don't think that's the point we're trying to make okay the point is is did lola throw me under the bus lola threw you under the bus she's almost three she can do that now but the thing is is she was she was getting all your angles right and you do know your way around instagram and you are very good with the shapes and the figures and the filter you are good she's got lola's gonna come to you tonight and go mom i got two tickets to scotland i'm dating a guy he's a football player over his best teammate this is this is
Starting point is 00:08:53 really interesting you say that laura and i do feel quite attacked um and mitch i love you you're like one of my best friends but i'm not going to protect you in this situation you want to know the truth laura you entrusted mitch and i to look after lola for a very short time i went to the bathroom and left lola alone with mitch and when i was walking back don't try and pass by mitch Mitch was giving a full-on posing catwalk session to Lola. It was Mitch. It wasn't me. Mitch was showing her.
Starting point is 00:09:24 He's like, point and then pop this hip and put this hand here. And I was like, Mitch, what are you doing? It was Mitch Turek. Okay, the brain passing, I have to say, and this is ridiculous. I'm not going to deny. I'm all for this. I want your daughter to succeed. I'm Kris Jenner.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Thank you very much. You're doing good, sweetie. I'm trying to thrive. Lola is not having an Instagram anytime soon. Also, I'm about to post a photo and she's like, baby, you need to Paris that, mummy. Let's go. Put a good work, Lola.
Starting point is 00:09:51 She needs to filter it. No, she went to the Mitch Turi School of Posing. She actually, Laura, she's real natural. Guys, it's not just the posing, though. I'm not even joking. This is actually quite worrisome. She'll hold a phone up and take it from above, and I reckon that that might be your hot girl walk.
Starting point is 00:10:06 It's hot from my hot girl walks. No, he was. He's like, this is how your hot girl walks down a runway. Okay, this is just sad. I said, Lola, it hasn't developed yet because the brain, the bones haven't fused but you'll get a jawline in a couple of years
Starting point is 00:10:16 and that's what you really want to focus on so if you're not aware we're currently on tour the three of us Britt and Laura we're going around Australia touring the Life Uncut podcast
Starting point is 00:10:26 having the best time we're having fun it's a lot of flights a lot of travel a lot of hotels a lot of time together a lot of time together we're not over each other
Starting point is 00:10:33 just yet but after this what happened on the weekend I think I don't know if you guys have been pushed to the limits with me so we get to the airport
Starting point is 00:10:41 where we live and I drove my car because I live nice and close. I'm like, I'm going to drive my car. I'm going to park in this stacker. I'm over Ubers. I want to drive my own vehicle. So I drive in.
Starting point is 00:10:50 I get the ticket. You do keep saying it's cheaper as well. I'm going to park in the car park. It's cheaper. I know. I'm one of those weirdos that thinks it is. I get the advertising. It's actually so much more expensive and it takes more time and effort
Starting point is 00:11:00 and stress to drive and park than an Uber to drop you off at the front. No, no, no. Because I like driving my car. I like the air con on. Don't yuck my yum. I park and I enjoy it. I get my parking ticket. I put it in my little bum bag.
Starting point is 00:11:10 I walk into security. We have a great flight. Now, where we land is the Gold Coast, and it's one of those airports that is the plane comes out on the tarmac and you walk off on the actual tarmac itself. Open air, baby. Yeah. You know, Las Vegas lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Free range. Free range airport. Free range. So as we're departing the back of the plane, it's Laura, then it's Britt, then it's me. I walk out, and you know when you get out of the tarmac, you go, I'm going to get a photo of this. This is nice.
Starting point is 00:11:37 You do, yes. Yeah, no, because you're outside. You love a photo op. Yeah, there's planes and the sun is out. It's the Gold Coast. So I go to reach into my bum bag and I pull my phone out and my parking ticket is stuck on the back of my phone. I watched this happen in real time.
Starting point is 00:11:53 The girls see this happen. I pull my phone out. A gust of wind pushed by the jet turbines of the aeroplane ignite. My parking ticket picks up into the air and the arsehole of the plane, the exhaust, pushes my ticket. It farted your ticket. It hit down the airport. The plane farted my ticket out into the hills of Brisbane.
Starting point is 00:12:15 No, it's because it sort of was going slowly into the air and we were like, oh, it might slowly come back down and then the plane farted and went... I've never seen a tiny piece of paper move so quickly. Within about four seconds, it was 100 metres away and then we couldn't go anywhere because we were having to, like, follow the orderly line inside to the baggage carousel and you were like, my ticket.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Mitch tried to run out. They were like, sir, you could be killed by a plane. You cannot go get your ticket. My parking ticket! I was like the mum in Home Alone. Like, I screamed so loudly. It was like one of those Balinese fire lanterns. Like, we were all kind of watching it up in the sky.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Oh, there it is. There's my ticket. Which has cost me so much money. Okay, that's where we left. You guys are like, move on, grow up. It'll be all right. Yeah, you'll be fine. Then we do the show.
Starting point is 00:12:57 It was great. We come back and I go. You guys go your separate ways to your houses. You haven't heard this. We got a taxi. Didn't have to wait around. You got a taxi, yeah. I'm an idiot who parked in the parking lot.
Starting point is 00:13:06 What happened? Oh, boy. It was bad. Why? I caused bedlam. Because I didn't have a parking ticket, I get to the gate, I push the button, beep, and then you have to wait, beep. Hello.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I go, hi, my ticket was sucked into a jet turbine. You'll never believe this. You're that annoying person. I hate the use of the world where you use one gate out and you're like, why is this person at the gate blocking traffic for 20 minutes? Controversial opinion, Britt. If you've lost your ticket, you don't drive your car to the gate. You walk up to the gate and press the button
Starting point is 00:13:41 and have the conversation to allow people to keep going through. But also, that's not controversial, Laura. Yes, that should be standard. Standard. No, but I think that most people don't do it. Oh, really? No, I didn't. Definitely didn't.
Starting point is 00:13:50 And then everyone had to sit behind you and honk you. I put my hazards on. So how long did you... That doesn't help anyone. Fred still can't get out whether your hazards are on or not. They were on. 45 minutes I sat there. 45 minutes.
Starting point is 00:14:02 How can it possibly take that long? And guess what I had to pay in the end? Did they charge you the full price? $160 for 24 hours parking. Did they really? Yeah, I had to pay it. How much is it usually? $50.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Why don't you take a photo of your ticket flying away and be like, that's it there. I couldn't get it. I've spoken about it on the radio now, so it's a tax write-off. But also they can see that. I don't get that because they can see. Yeah, that's a good quote. They can see when your flight was, when you arrived.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Just because you don't have your ticket shouldn't charge you more. You can still have proof of when you came in and left. At that point, I needed to get home. I needed to go. You're the worst. This is revenue racing by the airport. We should all riot. Anyway, goodbye, my lover, my ticket.
Starting point is 00:14:41 We've all been in relationships for long periods of time, and I'm single now. Don't bring it up. I don't want to talk about it. However, however, we know when you get in a relationship, things can sort of wane and get a bit boring like five years in. It's usually, say, the seven-year itch, but five years, that's long term.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Correct, correct. My relationships don't make up past a year. I've been reading up on this couple. They're both 27. They've been together five years. Relationship is on the rocks for this one very green reason. The female in the relationship has requested that her partner dress up as the Grinch. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Is it just at Christmas time? Nope. She's got a full obsession with the Grinch. She wants him to dress up as the Grinch. Oh, my God. And they want to have some bedroom fun together. What? I'm not sure if she wants to be like a who,
Starting point is 00:15:31 like if she wants to be a Whoville, a Horton. Oh, a Whoville. A Whovillian, yeah. She wants to be the whole town. I don't know. But get a load of this. She admitted that she wants to sleep with her boyfriend as the Grinch. She said that the boyfriend, it all started because the boyfriend said,
Starting point is 00:15:46 honey, what do you want for Christmas? And then I said, put on the Grinch costume, please kidnap me from my bed on Christmas Eve, and then I want you to have fun as the Grinch. Okay, that is a very specific fantasy, isn't it? No, it says here. that she gets her boyfriend's pretty good about it and he'll sometimes read the book to her to set the mood yeah and then hang on or if he's really into it he'll tell me
Starting point is 00:16:10 you're a mean one yeah because yeah because then yeah that's yeah that's the that's the that's the song yeah do you know what we don't yuck people's yum here that's fine and also characters can be really hot like there are plenty of hot you know he's hot you know i'm I'm just trying to think back to my childhood, like which character? Yeah, Popeye. The Ninja Turtles, like Michelangelo, Leonardo. You would go a turtle, Britt. Have you seen them?
Starting point is 00:16:38 They are ripped. They've got six packs. They're big. They're muscly. They save people. They're ninjas. They've got swords. Like that is hot.
Starting point is 00:16:44 They've just got to. You can't see their body. They're in a shell. They are actually turtles. No, they're six packs out. They're a turtle with a turtle shell that has a six pack on their shell, which makes absolutely no sense. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:16:55 That's fine. I'm going to Google the Ninja Turtles for you. I don't want to see it, please. I actually had a thing for Squidward on SpongeBob growing up. What? Yeah, he was quite, he was attractive to me. I don't, no. And he kind of negged you.
Starting point is 00:17:06 He negged the kids. There's the turtle. See how hot they are? Yeah, no, they're good looking turtles. They're hot turtles. As far as turtles go. What is it? And they wear bandanas around their head and stuff.
Starting point is 00:17:15 They were bad, yeah. And they were like, I mean, they were goodies. Totally. But they were also like a bit of bad boys as well. What about you, Laura? What did you watch going up? Garfield the Cat? No, I didn't watch Garfield the Cat.
Starting point is 00:17:22 No, I was so obsessed with Jonathan Taylor Thomas. I became obsessed with the Lion King. Which lion? I think I was the little Lion King. The cub. Oh, you like Simba. I was also a cub at the time. I was so young.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Of course. But I was obsessed with it, but only because I was obsessed with him. And I think I may have had a crush on the Lion King. Oh, thank God. If you said you were going to go for Rafiki, I'd be worried. Yeah. She's gone on the dark side. No.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Do you know why I reckon you're after Squidward and the same reason why this woman is after the Grinch? This woman? Oh, I thought you meant me. And Brittany's after this. You pointed to me and she goes, this woman. I was like, okay, Brittany. No.
Starting point is 00:17:56 No, the woman that you were talking about who's after the Grinch, it's because he has toxic traits and she wants to fix the broken bird. She likes the idea that he's like a bit of a bad guy but actually really inside he's just been misunderstood and she's going to fix him. She's got like issues. That's what that is. The Grinch is strong.
Starting point is 00:18:13 So what do I have? Turtle issues. And Brainy's gone. All right. Hey, 131065, what animated character are you attracted to? Well, maybe you were attracted to. You don't have to still be attracted to them. No, we want it now.
Starting point is 00:18:26 It could be now, it could be in the past, it could be a deep secret. Homer Simpson, like whatever. We were just talking on the pick-up about the 27-year-old couple that are facing rocky times because the girlfriend in the duo wants her partner to dress up as the Grinch in the bedroom. You're a mean one, Mr Grinch. We don't yuck people's yum, but it's a bit, I mean, maybe once a year, but I think it's a bit too much if it's consistently read bedtime stories,
Starting point is 00:18:53 then dress up, then talk like the Grinch. It's a bit much. Maybe she is only doing it, though, this time of year. We're asking, on 131065, what animated character do you crush on? Because, Laura, what was yours again? Rafiki. The Lion King. The Lion King.
Starting point is 00:19:09 You can't say that. The movie? What, you got the VHS box and got excited? Yeah, it was the, what's his name? Simba. It was Simba. The cub. The lion.
Starting point is 00:19:17 The Lion King. The lion from The Lion King. I got a crush on the Titanic. I got a crush on the whole cast. Have you seen the harbour bridge? I really like the whole zoo. All right, and yours was? The Ninja Turtles.
Starting point is 00:19:29 They were hot. They were ribbed. They had bandanas and they fought bad people. Yeah, amphibians, yeah. Turtles. Not turtles as well, so nighttime was fun. Sally, what's your animated crush? For me, it's Aladdin.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Fair. He makes sense. Yeah, and he rides a carpet. That makes far more sense than a mutant Ninja Turtle. Yeah, and you rub that little genie bottle, you get three wishes out of that. You've got some good muscles. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:52 What was it specifically about Aladdin? Yeah, so for me, it's his rugged good looks along with the muscles. You can see the muscles inside that little cute vest. Yeah. Okay, all right. Wow, you're really short about this. Okay, well, let's go over to Nicole. Nicole, hi.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Who's your animated crush? Hi, it's Sully from Monsters, Inc. Oh, yeah. What? Oh, Sully. He's cute, but I don't think he's in the sexy category. Yeah. Yeah, but he takes on, like, you know, the surrogate dad to, like, do.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Daddy issues, yeah. Yeah. I think I could be a bit of a Sally. Like, I could definitely roll by a Sally. You could be Sally, yeah. Maybe that should support your Halloween this year, Mitch. Nicole, do you have a costume? No.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Does that mean you'd be Mike Wazowski, like a green soccer ball with one big eye? Oh, my goodness. Oh, yes, Mike Wazowski. Or you could go as the little girl, which would be just as weird. Okay, this is all right. Okay. All right, let's go to Lexi. What's your crush character?
Starting point is 00:20:55 I'm about to say Kronk. Who's Kronk? Emperor's New Groove. Pull the lever, Kronk. I have to Google this. I'm sorry. Kronk lever! I don't even know what Kronk looks like.
Starting point is 00:21:08 I'm doing a brilliant impression. Oh, he's hot. Big jawline, though. Look at the jawline. I could also role play as Kronk. Kronk looks really hot but really dumb. He is. Like a really dumb hot man.
Starting point is 00:21:20 His head's a little bit small as well, but we're not going to judge him on that. I think it's the jawline for me that's solid. No, for me, it's the calf muscles. At least he didn't skip leg day. He's good. He's also best friends with a llama. Really hot and really dumb. We established that.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Wow. Thank you, Lexi. It's so interesting. Our listeners are disgusting. We're all messed up. I quite appreciate it. We're all cooked in the head. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Speak for yourself. All right. Have you shown your kids The Lion King yet, Laura? I do try and show my kids The Lion King every so often. They're into it, but I think for very different reasons. They're like, Mum, we've watched it 12 times. We don't want to watch it again. You will watch Jonathan Taylor Thomas and you will love him like I did.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Look, work politics are hard enough to navigate, I think, on the best of days, you know, between bosses and employees and each other. And there's a conversation at the moment taking over the internet between a boss and their employee. Now, the reason it's gone viral is, and I'm going to surmise this, right, because there's a text message exchange between the employee and the boss that is getting a lot of people talking. There's a lot of debates.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Basically, the employee wrote to his boss and said, hey, mate, I've got really bad hay fever. Like, it's gone off the charts. I'm sneezing nonstop. I'm a bit snotty because of the sneezing. Not sick, just hay fever. So I'm going to work from home today. I've lined up all my meetings.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I'll get everything done. It's going to be great. and his boss wrote back and said like morning sorry to hear that you're suffering from hay fever but that excuse quote unquote doesn't fly in the workplace we have something in place here that says if you are too sick to come to work then you're too sick to work from home and you have to take a sick day so he's trying to say if you can't come in because of your hay fever We're not going to let you work from home. Don't do anything today, but use one of your sick days.
Starting point is 00:23:18 And it has gotten so many people talking because so many people were like, hang on, no, of course you can still work from home. Like you don't have to be forced to take a sick day. Laura, you're a business owner. You've got staff at Tony May, your jewellery brand. So what would you do in this situation? See, I think it depends on the workplace, right? I don't think we can give a blanket either way, but I also kind of agree.
Starting point is 00:23:36 I'm like, if you're going to be, if you're too sick to be able to come in and do a face-to-face meeting or a meeting at all, then how are you okay to do that same meeting over Zoom from at home? No, wouldn't you rather your staff actually complete their job? It doesn't matter where they are. They can do it from their bedroom with tissues in their nose. Wait, wait, wait. This isn't about, no, because I think that you look at this
Starting point is 00:23:56 and you think this is about, like, getting the most out of the workers and making sure that you squeeze them from everything they're worth. If someone's sick, I don't want them working at all. Take a day off, feel better, and then come in and do your job the next day. But they can still work. They just can't go into work. If you're contagious for some reason, you can't go into work. He's got hay fever.
Starting point is 00:24:15 No, no. That's exactly, that's right. So why can't he work from home? Correct. That's the whole point. I've got the text here and they're saying, I've got plenty of stuff I can do from home. Can I work from home?
Starting point is 00:24:26 Yeah. And the boss is still saying no. I think that's unreasonable. I think it depends on the workplace. I think it depends on what you do for a job and whether working from home is an option. Well, yeah, the three of us. It's simply not an option everywhere.
Starting point is 00:24:36 We can't just sit in our bedroom and yell out the window and hope people open their car windows and listen to the pick-up from bed. Brittany, I have hay fever. I would like to do the show from my bed. Yeah, here's a prime example, guys. When I got COVID last year, I couldn't come into work because I had COVID. I still did the radio show. We phoned in from home.
Starting point is 00:24:54 That's because you have to be dying to get a day of radio. I thought I'd test this out with our boss, our big boss, Tony. I'm sure it went down guys. Did you message him? Did you message him, Britt? Yeah, I did. I thought I was going to get fired. I messaged him this morning.
Starting point is 00:25:09 I'm going to read it to you. He's always on his phone too. He would have got this straight away. Morning, Tony. So my hay fever is so bad today. It's hit me hard. Must be the change in weather. I'm a sneezing mess.
Starting point is 00:25:21 So I'm going to work from home today. I'll just call into the radio. It'll all be organised well though. Don't worry. Thanks. I'm sure that went down beautifully. That was more of a statement. That wasn't even a question.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Yeah, I know. That's what I was trying. Just wait for it. Ready? hey full stop morning full stop so look i'm sorry you are suffering from hay fever i completely know where you are coming from as i suffer too generally as a rule when this has happened to previous team members they still come in and continue on especially on air teams as they only need their voice also my view is that you can work from home you can come in as hay fever won't infect laura
Starting point is 00:26:00 and Mitch. So my suggestion is take some Zyrtec from Emma's warehouse and hop in a cab for the show. Brittany. I think fair. Hang on, wait. Oh God, you went back. You went up high. Oh yeah. You dug in. Thanks for the quick response. I totally
Starting point is 00:26:16 see where you're coming from, but I guess no two humans are cut from the same cloth, right? Maybe it's hitting me a little different because I work so hard and my stress levels have been up so high. But don't worry, no one will even notice I'm having to record from home. I I will get some of that medication.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Thank you. Thanks for your understanding from Sneezy Britt. And he'll be right back. He goes, get to work. And, guys, I can report Britt is sitting next to us. I am here. And we all have COVID now. Yeah, we're all very, very ill.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Thanks a lot, Tony. Guys, I feel like there's an age-old debate that goes around the world. And it circles back twice a year. It goes viral. Who pays on a first date? Oh, my God. Oh, Laura. Sorry, it was a rhetorical question.
Starting point is 00:27:01 I was just setting it up. First date. Come on, boys. Like, you know, I know that we all ask for equality, but not on a first date. Also, Laura, I love you. I'm dating men. What, are we going to pay twice?
Starting point is 00:27:10 He should pay. Just the other one. The other one that's not you is the person who pays on a first date. Interesting, Laura. Okay, well, this wasn't one I was going to get into, but I also think the person that pays is the person that initiated the date. So if the woman asks the man on the date, the man can't pay. That's my stance.
Starting point is 00:27:22 I'm being silly, but I agree. Well, this is serious, Laura. so there's an extension of that conversation that is going around online at the moment and it's pretty bloody funny as someone that's been in the dating world i'm i'm taken now i'm with my beautiful partner ben but i was dating for 10 years and i've had my fair share but this story is going around and it's not necessarily about paying for the date but it's about when does the offer to have paid for the date expire now what i mean by that is there's a girl that went on a date her name's anna she went on a date with jason jason is now saved in her in her phone as jason with
Starting point is 00:27:58 a poo emoji and a red flag that's how she saved his name jason poo red flag stay away from the smelly red flag so they went out on a date uh lovely date shared drinks and food he had more he had um a hundred dollars and she spent 25 of that okay okay she offers to split the bill at the end hey do you want i'll pay for my stuff pay for her stuff not split sorry that's a very big differentiation so she was gonna pay 25 bucks he says like a gentleman no no no don't be silly like i've got this which is lovely the next morning she wakes up to a text message from jason poo red flag and it says good morning i had a great time last night after thinking it over i think i will take you up on splitting the dinner i'm going to the game today and i didn't realize i spent so much
Starting point is 00:28:47 last night lol can you venmo me 50 bucks that's embarrassing and also she didn't spend 50 why the hell would she pay 50 so now he's asking he's like actually yes i will have money and i will have more money than you consumed on the night oh her text she wrote good morning that offer expired after we left the restaurant have fun at the game and that's it now the conversation is going viral how can you i mean i know my answer absolutely not you can the second you walk out of that restaurant you cannot message someone the next day later that night a week later and say hey you know what i will take that money no i agree i agree with you but this is not a one-off case this happens often where people will say oh can you pay for those and it's petty it's things
Starting point is 00:29:35 like can you pay for the coffees can you pay for the the lunch that we had and i'm talking if it's a significant amount of money i understand but when it's like a couple of dollars here or there Like, why would you want the embarrassment of having to text him again? I remember going on a date once and the guy asked me on the date, and I'll never forget this, it was just a sandwich and a milkshake. Like, that was literally it. Were you 12? Were you a little boy peep?
Starting point is 00:29:57 What the hell? No, I was a grown woman. It was just a lunch date. Quickly get a sanger and a smoothie and a sit at the beach. No, I get it, Britt. You don't always want to go and have, like, a drink and a sit-down dinner because that's so much investment. You want to go and have a light little walk, have a chat, get a wrap.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I get it. Yeah, okay. So we get to the sandwich shop and order, and I get awkward around money so I just went to pay, right, because there was this moment where he didn't pull out his card so I was like, I'll just do it. Two sandwiches, that's it. I went to pay and the lady goes, oh, sorry, it's cash only.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I had a giggle. I thought this was funny and I turned around to him and I said, oh, I'm so sorry. I only have my card. Do you have cash? He rolled his eyes like it was the worst thing and he's like, sure, dramatically went and handed over the cash and it was so awkward.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I said, oh, well, I'll get the smoothies across the road and then, you know, we'll be even. i'm talking ten dollars each guys so he was like that sounds great went across to the smoothie shop i went to pay again and she said oh it's cash only again and i thought this was hysterical i just thought like what are the odds yeah it's funny he literally looked at me and said are you just taking me purposely to all the places that are cash only so you don't have to pay even though he saw me pull my card out i actually couldn't believe it and it was i thought he was joking and i was waiting for the laugh and he didn't laugh and i said oh if you want um i can go past
Starting point is 00:31:10 the ATM on the way to the beach and I'll get $20 out thinking there's no way he's going to make me do this. We walked past the ATM and he goes, here's the ATM. And I had to get $20 out and give it to him. I think I ended up paying more than what the sandwich and smoothie cost. Then the icing on the cake. He bragged about how many properties he owned the whole time. And then at the end he said, I had a great time.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Can I see you again? And I said, wrong. Computer says no. So he wanted – because I would have thought someone doing that would be because they didn't want to see you again, but he actually wanted to go on another date. He wanted to see me again. I'm like, there's a reason you're single, buddy.
Starting point is 00:31:46 All right, I have a story to tell you guys. Now, one might say that a mother's love knows no bounds. I'd say that, yeah. Well, apparently – Well, you're a mum. Would you say that? I – yes, I will love my children forever. Do I want to support my children for the rest of their lives
Starting point is 00:32:03 until I am old and on a pension? Not really. I hope that one day they grow up, they spread their wings and they fly away from my house and into someone else's. That's what everyone's mum wants. That's the dream for every parent, Britt. Would you agree? I mean, I was straight out of home at 18 and I don't have kids, so yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:20 I mean, I also moved out of home when I was 19 years old, so, like, we were out of there young. Mitch, not so much the case for you. Where is this going? Where is this going? Okay, all right, all right. Well, look, what happened, I'm going to take you over to Italy. There is a 75-year-old woman there.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Now, she lives in northern Italy in a beautiful place called Pavia, and she has recently won a court case suing her two sons, right? She has taken them to court. Her own children? Her own children, her own blood. And the reason for this is because her children are 40 years old and 42 years old, and they refused to move out of home. Refused.
Starting point is 00:32:58 But not only did they refuse, they refused so much that she had to take legal action against her own children. Now, this poor woman, she was spending her entire pension on food. Could you imagine how much it costs to feed two 40-year-old men? So she was spending her entire pension on food and on maintenance for the house, and she had not a dollar to spare for herself. Oh, my God, that's a lot of Nonna's meatballs. Oh, my God, she literally called, I'm just reading it now,
Starting point is 00:33:21 she literally called her sons parasites. She said they're parasites. I mean, 40 and 42, come on, you're halfway, I mean, sorry for anyone that's 80, but you're halfway through your life. You're halfway. You can't be living and mooching off your elderly mother. What is wrong with these people? Do you know what, though, Britt?
Starting point is 00:33:38 The only thing that's worse than never moving out of home as a 40-year-old, like they never, ever left and came back. It's not like they, you know, had a hard thing that went on in their life and then they had to move back home. They literally never, ever moved out. The only thing that is worse is having your mum having to sue you to get you out of the house. Totally.
Starting point is 00:33:58 It's unbelievable. You know, I used to live in Italy. I moved to Italy when I was like 18, 19, and I remember I had a really good friend that I had made over there through the nannying circuit, and he was 35, and I've only just thought about this now, but he was still living at home. The average age in Italy to move out of home is like 31 years old.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Well, do you know what? I mean, it's weird, isn't it? I mean, it's different than what we do here. Mitch, maybe you need to move to Italy. Hilarious. I was waiting for this to be brought back to me, but no, I'm getting off scot-free. My mum wants me at the house.
Starting point is 00:34:26 It's the opposite of the cheery household. I feel like maybe you have a little bit of Italy in your blood. There is a term which has been coined in Italy and it's called mammoni. Mammoni. Now, mammoni means, and it's used to describe adult men specifically who are too dependent on their mothers. I think it's mammoni.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Grow up. Mammoni. And I think that that is you, Mitch Turi. You're a Mitch Turi mammoni. Mammonis of Australia, 131065, how old are you and are you still living at home? I think it is so far. I'm the head of the union.
Starting point is 00:34:54 I'm trying to get safety in numbers here, Mitch. We're going to go on a writer's strike, all us adults. So we're going to call you now, Mitch. Mitch Mamouni Churi. Hold on. Jack's called on 131065. Hello, Mamouni. How old are you?
Starting point is 00:35:05 Are you living at home? Yes, I am. I'm 29. Yeah. Good on you. But have you ever moved out of home and come back or you've been there the whole time? I did move out for a little bit and then when I went back to uni,
Starting point is 00:35:19 I ended up like over COVID. Yeah. Can I say, you two boomers, Britt and Laura, the economy's tough. You know, for us Gen Zs, it's so hard for us 28, 29-year-olds. It was tough for us. No, a load of rubbish. It was tougher for us. Look, we're pretty old, Laura and I.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Yeah, I mean, you know, back there in the Great Depression, it was horrible. Okay, we've got another Mimone on 131065. Rebecca, hi, Mimone. Okay, so my sister, she's 31. Yeah. She still lives at home. She's never in her entire life moved out.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Oh. Yeah, so she literally doesn't understand what living is like these days. My parents, she doesn't pay rent either. What? My parents pay the mortgage, yeah. Wow. No. Although she does the shopping.
Starting point is 00:36:03 I mean, for herself or for everyone? Well, for everyone, but it's only her, my mum and my dad. So technically, what, $200, $300 max? I mean, there's got to be some of this responsibility that falls on the parents, right? Like, it sounds like they're encouraging that moment. When I have kids, the second they're 18, they're out. Jesus, you're such a comforting woman.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Actually, they're going to boarding school at 12. Do you know what? Somewhere in between your mum and Brit would be a really great place to spot. I think it's you, Laura. I think it's you. You're the warm middle ground.
