Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Brittany. And I'm Laura. You were just really filling yourself up over there, Laws. No, I, look, I... Don't deny it, your hands are up your shirt, on your shirt, they were just everywhere, they were squeezing. Because nothing's come, well nothing will come out now, that's why. So, okay, I got a comment. We get lots of comments from you guys and sometimes they're really,
Starting point is 00:00:30 really nice and people are like, you're doing such a good job. I love that episode. That was so interesting. Well done. Great relatable story. And sometimes they're me. Other times they're people saying that Keisha's bin story was the worst story they've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:00:41 No, Keisha got a good comment this week. Not that she doesn't. Did I? No, on the bin. No, on YouTube. We need to stop bringing up the bin. I feel like if people are going to get over it and then I'll get more negative comments.
Starting point is 00:00:51 I won't say it, but Laura brought it up. The bin is done. Move on. Why are you feeling yourself up? The bin is not done and we will keep talking about the bin because we are here for the bin story. However, this is something else that someone was over in the comment section.
Starting point is 00:01:06 So someone left a comment saying that I talk about breastfeeding on every single episode, which I would like to say is untrue. It's not every episode. It's probably every second episode. It's untrue. I don't talk about breastfeeding every episode, but it is a big part of my identity at the moment. So I'm very sorry if you had to listen to that.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Really hope the cameras were going before we started actually recording the podcast because this is what Laura was doing. If you're watching this on YouTube, go to YouTube right now. This is what Laura was doing and she was like, someone can't just talk about breastfeeding. The cameras were on. Your hand is squeezing your tits right this second. You're squeezing it like it's a long sausage. Stop that.
Starting point is 00:01:43 It is like a long sausage now. That's the problem. so the reason why I brought up breastfeeding despite despite the protests is because I am coming to the end of the journey I have been rejected by my five-month-old daughter she doesn't want it anymore I have to trick her I have to when she's asleep I slip a nip in like she does you need a mat as well she doesn't want me anymore do you think you're coming to the end of the journey because she doesn't want it or have you chosen to because there's one comment no like okay I won't breastfeed anymore my daughter can go hungry no once we transferred
Starting point is 00:02:14 her onto like co-feeding the bottle like so when she started taking the bottle and also having formula and because I'm at work throughout the days and I'm not the one feeding her she is just off it she's off the boob a lot of people say that when you're breastfeeding if you try and do like share with bottle as soon as they realize how easy it is to get formula out of a bottle and once they've realized that actually formula is really tasty they don't have to work as hard just like you Brit they were like what is this watery shit well it's just no I mean I drank it from a bottle so it was easy but you don't have to work as hard she's efficient totally why would you want to work harder for the same thing they don't want it and so I was trying to pump yesterday
Starting point is 00:02:50 and literally nothing came out except dust like a couple of drops couple moths I was literally lactating formula by the end of it just powder came out but there's nothing in there and so I've got enough just to do maybe a dream feed at night time which is when you pick up your baby when they're asleep and you feed them when they're completely asleep but if she's awake and conscious she does not want me to breastfeed her so yeah I think I'm coming to the end of it so to the person who wrote that comment you won't need to hear about it for very much longer but there's a part of me that feels really sad this time and I never felt sad before I felt like joyful to stop and this time I'm like it's gonna be the last time everyone and my poor little sad empty pikelet
Starting point is 00:03:30 titties are never gonna be the same no last time you said it was the last time too and then pops came so like let's strap on in for number four i'll be 44 having a baby it's all right i'll probably have my first yeah nothing wrong i'll be like i'll be like do you think i should or shouldn't do it i'll be like 70 and i'll be like should i i've been having this conversation for 10 years totally it's my whole identity is like people be like i'm putting up a poll tell me if you think it's a good idea or not okay you laugh i was this close to putting up a poll being like you guys decide for me decide do i have a baby or not now that's what i was i was literally gonna poll it just go we love a poll we love a poll what number of respondents would you need
Starting point is 00:04:09 to classify that 51 it just has to be over it's just 50 50 51 and i reckon i'd i'll be like well the people have spoken they will determine the internet wants this people want this for my content so i'm gonna do it i'll have a baby it's like when people go on holidays and they're like hey guys you want to hear about my holiday yes or no have i done that no i just i just put it on people I don't give them the option I think I unsubscribed from that once actually I'm voting yes just go have a baby just do it it's great you won't regret it so my first vote from the poll is Laura well in this room it's it it's a hundred percent if Keisha and I unless you're saying no it's a hundred percent so far why are you assuming I would be in the yes category no I think you just
Starting point is 00:04:50 know because Keisha and I are still like I mean we sort of like the singles together we're single but not single because our partners are always working away and stuff so I feel like we've been like we connect on that i have the fear that if you do have a kid it will be like delilah and kish that's exactly what i'll do i'm gonna be like kish i gotta go to italy for a couple of months can you take the child my response to the poll bring her over to me and it could be the fourth baby i always wanted i just wait you're squeezing a boo i'll feed you hey how would you feel if i breastfed your kid not like as in if you had one now and i breastfed it would you be weirded out by it no yeah i see it's just it's just fuel i feel i i know i sorry to bring it
Starting point is 00:05:35 back to breastfeeding for the person who hates it no i am now we're talking about me breastfeeding i don't even have a baby this poor listener no because if you had a baby like my sister was pregnant at the same time as me right we had babies at the same time it never happened but i don't feel that precious about it like it's called a wet nurse if she wanted to or if like marley or lola were crying and it worked out like that it was a convenient thing to do there would be no part of me that would be like annoyed or worried or anything about it I'd be weird if I just walked home and you were feeding it and I didn't know I'd be like what are you doing I was like if you were babysitting it and you and I came in and you were like shit or you're at my house
Starting point is 00:06:11 dream feeding it in the night yeah that'd be weird the reason why is because I had a conversation with someone recently they were at a wedding and it was the first time that they were away from their baby and their baby hadn't taken a bottle yet and they were breastfed but they were going to try and like do the bottle and if the bottle didn't work she was going to come home from the wedding and baby just would not take a bottle but the woman who was taking care of her was her best friend who also recently had a baby and was breastfeeding and she was like you know what stay at the wedding if you're cool I'll just breast feed the baby and she was like yeah actually I'm having a really good time at the wedding and she told me this story because she
Starting point is 00:06:44 was she was like is it weird was that is that like you know she's like I didn't care but people think that that's crazy and I was like no I would have stayed at the wedding it's pretty common in other cultures though like i think it is something that is done can i share a fun fact we do love fun facts here at life only if the fact is fun wait where do you think this is going all right i can i already am like is it going to the bin no keisha turns around and says i had mushrooms in my backyard this morning i did that's a whole other story stopping that segue and i would like it to be clear they grew in the ground i didn't take mushrooms sorry okay okay well now we're here on the mushrooms keisha was late to work today and she was like sorry guys it was a pretty hectic
Starting point is 00:07:19 morning and she goes i had to weed my garden there were some mushrooms laura was like sorry will you like to work because you were weeding sorry i took a picture because i knew that you guys would not believe me there were like a hundred little mushrooms and i'm worried that they might be poisonous so i took them out of the ground before bonnie could eat them that's fair and the time to do it is before work i even had dirt under my nails i didn't wash it out because i needed proof i i absolutely can validate once you explained you're worried about about the dogs eating it I was like a hundred percent I get that it was more so you came to work and said I'm so sorry I'm running late there were mushrooms in my backyard and then you took a photo and showed me
Starting point is 00:07:55 without the context and I was like that's a particularly unusual time to decide that you must eradicate the mushroom problem that popped up overnight totally wouldn't be that off brand for me to be fair but my fun fact is to do with breastfeeding so they say that you know the fat content of your breast milk changes as your baby gets older and that can be why it's a bit weird to feed other babies if they're at a different age but kangaroos kangaroos can have two babies I think they call them joeys yes they do they can change the content of the fat in their milk depending on which joey they're feeding that's amazing how cool is that that's incredible I'm gonna fact check this just to make sure this episode goes to air but that's my fun fact for
Starting point is 00:08:38 the day do you know that I read something about a fun fact about an insect I came across it today there's a new insect that's been discovered right which this insect kills other insects and then it stitches body parts of that insect onto itself as armor and it's just like this big frankenstein slug thing okay that wears that wears other insects to protect itself so interesting where is that like the amazon or something i didn't go into it that deep don't ask me those details back up your fat no look i'll read it to you actually i was so fascinated by this so fascinated that you didn't read any further just read the headline that's the length of my attention she's like no i couldn't look away from that one line i was fascinated i'm not so
Starting point is 00:09:22 scientists discovered a caterpillar that murders insects and stitches their dismembered body parts onto its back as an armor it is really jeffrey darmer yeah look at that thing look at it does a really good job of like getting it quite asymmetrical but where's it from where does it live i have found the location of the caterpillar thank god hawaii's sorry if i mispronounce this hawaii's wyanie mountain range and it is also known as the bone collector i think that's enough i think that's enough on that no it's got a name a nickname bone collector caterpillar that's very grim isn't it kind of feels like it should be in the wwe like the undertaker You know how they all have their names?
Starting point is 00:10:03 Boom, Kalinda. Guys, in case you were unsure about what this episode is, this is our Off Cuts episode where we go deep on the stuff that we went down the rabbit hole in in our group chat this week. Yeah, and so the first Off Cuts that we want to do the poll on is, because we love a poll, don't look at me like you're confused, Laura. I thought you were about to do a poll on whether you're going to have a baby or not.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Okay, so after we decide if I'm having a baby, we're going to poll about breastfeeding. Like, do you think it's okay if your friend subbed in and breastfed your baby? I think it's a really interesting poll. and we'll bring you those stats next week and if you have an animal fun fact i'm all in all right well look first cab off the ranks you guys all heard about girl dinner it was trending last year everyone talked about girl dinner i've been talking about girl in my whole life it's all i
Starting point is 00:10:45 eat no but okay for anyone who doesn't know this i know you do what a boring recap but girl dinner is basically like how at night time if you're on your own you're not having to cook meals for multiple people you just have a snack plate it's basically what it is you just have some random bits of cold cut meat some cheese maybe a couple crackers that's a girl dinner right i throw some like weedy bix bites in there do you put weedy bix bites in your girls so good yeah because you can eat them dry or wet they're very versatile like a wheat but you will eat a wheat bake dry and this episode is brought to you by weedy no this is where it comes into play laws because you'd never sit down to a dry wheat bix but you would to a dry weedy bix bite they're different
Starting point is 00:11:23 things they're the mini ones that are filled with like the jam and got you okay i was shocked when I went to my kids' daycare and in the mornings for one of the snacks, they get given a wheat pick with no milk on it and jam. And I was like, that is going to tie that kid over for about four hours. Isn't that like a choking risk? Yeah, I think it's going to aspirate that. They're giving them dry Milo. Surely you paid more than a dry wheat pick.
Starting point is 00:11:47 They were like four at the time. I'm pretty sure Maya has a chef. Okay, so we all know what girl dinner is. Girl dinner took off with such force last year that you can go online and buy a special girl dinner plate which is basically just a kid's plate that has like the little sections but they've rebranded it as a girl dinner plate well step aside girl dinner because now we have the male equivalent we have boy kibble so so stupid if you haven't heard of boy kibble boy kibble it has been touted as reducing decision fatigue it is for fitness goals and it will give you the fuel
Starting point is 00:12:20 without having to think let me tell you what boy kibble is it is unseasoned lean ground beef with rice no i'm calling bullshit this is not about decision fatigue these men do not have decision fatigue this is about being jacked and lean because that is like what every bodybuilder has it's like no flavor no spices no sauces no added sugars it's just carbs and protein this is not decision fatigue they're getting jacked unseasoned lean ground beef and rice put some fucking salt on that salt it salt is not gonna hurt you put a bit of salt put a bit of pepper because salt lean in water attaches to salt and they're puffy is this serious no i'm serious yeah you will decrease your salt because think of how thirsty you get with salt right so water molecules
Starting point is 00:13:03 will attach themselves if you have more salt in your body so if you're bodybuilding or anything you do not even put a seasoning on because you want to be like lean that is so unhealthy i would like to just laugh about this rather than get into like sorry i was like deep health concerns this is meant to be okay it's been touted as being protein centric no fuss and an easy meal to prepare and it's the perfect meal for a man to eat if they just can't be bothered to cook a meal. Do they have it in a bowl as well and eat it off the floor? They put it on the floor and they must only eat it
Starting point is 00:13:31 with direct to their mouth. They're not allowed to use their hands or any utensils. They do a downward dog. I'm still pro dino nuggets. I'm not going to lie. I still love an air fried chicken nugget and I am pro cereal for dinner. No one's against that. No one's against that.
Starting point is 00:13:47 But boy kibble I think is where we should start drawing a line. No, because it's actually like they're still cooking and it's still food. Like it's, I don't know, I don't have a problem with it. There's somebody that doesn't eat that well. I don't think that's correct. If we've got girl dinner, we've got boy kibble, the university equivalent of this, like I don't know what you'd call it,
Starting point is 00:14:04 someone come up with a trendier name, but it's three beans, like a can of three beans, some rice, and a can of tuna. That's called being poor. Yeah, that's already got a name. It's got to be on student allowances from the government. That is what that's called. I lived off that. Also, I just also want to make it clear, that was not shade.
Starting point is 00:14:25 I was a person who lived like that. I still live like that. When I got my first job, I would go into the kitchen, I'd mix my rice, my three beans, and my tuna, and I can't eat canned tuna anymore because it takes me back to 10 years of canned tuna every single day. I can't eat beans because it takes me back to I'm a celebrity, get me out of here.
Starting point is 00:14:40 I can't have Malibu. He's just like, I can't either. You can figure that out yourself. Malibu's the only alcohol that if I smell it, It takes me back to 17 when I was too drunk on it and I will vomit in my mouth. What about Fruity Alexia? I didn't have that.
Starting point is 00:14:57 I never had that. Fruity Alexia with Bombora. Bombay. Bombay. The povo one. Wasn't it Bombora? No, Bombay. The white wine coconut one.
Starting point is 00:15:06 No, that's Bombora. Bombay is gin. Yeah, but trust me, I know my alcohols. I drank them all. She had it alongside her three beans and tuna. I couldn't afford the real one, the real Malibu, So I would drink Bombora in Fruity Elixir. I've told this before.
Starting point is 00:15:22 And then at the end of the night, just blow up that silver pillow and have a nap. What's a silver pillow? Because it came in a cask. Did you ever play Goon of Fortune? No. Outside on the clothesline? Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:36 So for anyone who wasn't a part of the beautiful culture of Goon of Fortune, it's where you would all have a goon sack and you'd peg it to, what are those clotheslines that go around? Hills Hoist? Yeah, just a hoist clothesline. It's the OG clothesline that has one pole and then it spins in circles. And so you'd peg it to the clothesline and you'd spin it and like Wheel of Fortune, whoever it would stop on, you'd have to like pour it into your mouth.
Starting point is 00:15:57 This is going to say a lot about me, but I used to also play that game with donuts. It says a lot about who I was. I was like, hey guys, Wheel of Fortune is fun, but have you played Wheel of Donut? And you'd put the donuts on a string and you'd spin them around. And then if it landed in you, you had to eat with no hands. I actually remember playing this. Yeah, you couldn't use your hands, your high back, and it was swinging and it was really hard to get it.
Starting point is 00:16:20 How did it look for it? What do we do now that we've all got fancy clotheslines that just pull across, like the sleek clotheslines? We're robbing children and teens. Of Goon of Fortune. We are robbing university students of core memories. Goon of Fortune was a wild time, wasn't it? You say it's a wild time.
Starting point is 00:16:38 I feel like I played it once. I can't remember. Because it kept landing on Keisha and she was so small. I'm a real cheat zone. okay the next one i think is i'm not gonna lie i did think it was serious the first time i saw it but it's it's not but basically tampa international airport put out an official statement on their website we've seen enough we've had enough it is time to ban pajamas at tampa international airport after successfully banning crocs and giving everybody the amazing opportunity to experience
Starting point is 00:17:05 the world's first croc free airport it is time to take on an even larger crisis pajamas at the airport in the middle of the day. We know this decision could be disruptive to someone in your life, but it is time to have a difficult conversation with them. You can do this. We and Phoebe believe in you. I don't know who Phoebe is. No, I don't think anyone does. The madness stops today. The movement starts now. Help Tampa International Airport become the first croc-free and pajama-free airport. To be fair, whoever wrote this, even though it is a piss take, they should actually run in politics because that line, the madness stops today. the movement starts now iconic I want to protest this how dare you it's an international airport
Starting point is 00:17:46 you don't know what time zone people are on it's five o'clock somewhere no do you know that's interesting I'm pro no pajamas at the airport yeah what have you got against pajamas they're like a bedtime inside like I don't think you should go outside if it's a slippery slope it's a slippery slope if we start wearing our Uggs and our pajamas as a whole out in the day and just getting around in them. I agree. You are in different time zones. I think that, you know, there's a lot of people's sense of where they are and what they're doing changes when they've been traveling international. But if you have exited a plane and entered into an airport, you are in a public space. So don't wear pajamas. Cause if you wouldn't walk to Wool's or Collie's, if you
Starting point is 00:18:25 wouldn't go to Coles or Woolies wearing that outfit, why, why are you okay with walking through an airport in your full pyjamas is it because you know you're not going to see anyone that you don't know it's because i have free will it's because it's not about free will woolies and coals without shoes on like as long as you have that wear i'm also against the fact that they've banned crocs i've worn crocs on the plane plenty of times crocs are fine somebody wrote good luck trying to stop me that was somebody's comment back but somebody else was like any male over eight wearing pajamas to the airport should be on the no-fly list and i agree if you there is an ick if there is a grown man at the airport in his checkered flannies it's not for
Starting point is 00:19:10 me is it a flex getting off a plane though if you've flown business and you're still wearing the Qantas pajamas like do people do that as a flex oh yeah i got upgraded once i still wear them i was thinking of wearing to work i got the first class remember when i got upgraded well i didn't get upgraded i stole ben's points that's designer yeah i was i actually was thinking of wearing that to work i think it's important for us to reiterate that that was a joke and whoever is running the Tampa International Airport social media needs a pay rise because they're the real MVP of this. Because while we were tossing this around in content to talk about this week, we all thought it was real. Yeah. But you know what the thing is? I don't know if I'm
Starting point is 00:19:42 reading too deep into this. You know, when people put statements out like this and then they're like, it's a joke, guys. I don't think it was. I think they really don't want pajamas at the airport, but they're like, they just want to plant that thought in people's heads. Like they're not actually banning it, but I think they want people to start the conversation so that people like us start saying stop wearing your pajamas to the airport flights are like they're the public transport of the sky I just think you can't control how did you come up with that like they are though you know like the transport plane is like a transport of the sky no public transport it's a very important part of this I agree I've said it my whole life I was like thanks
Starting point is 00:20:19 fucking rocket or rain man no what I mean is back in the day when flights were very exclusive people used to really get dressed up for them have you seen like flashback photos of the way people used to dress to get onto a plane no but do you not remember so they obviously don't do this anymore but they used to have joyride flights so people would pay money just to get on a flight to fly around to come back to Sydney or you could go and fly to a destination that you didn't know where it was going to be just to go to the airport then get back on a return flight and fly home because flying used to be such an experience right like that was it was such a unique thing to do i mean we still do that no but people would know no like i mean like seaplanes and helicopters yeah
Starting point is 00:21:01 but i mean like people would just line up for quantas to go on a joyride flight little jet star seat with it you know they'd line up to do that and then fly back do you know what i just remember it had me laughing like this is going to be good for you guys listening this is going to really put this myth to bed i happened to run into a friend at dubai airport once on a flight on the way back right so we're both different trips we just literally ran into each other like oh my god we worked out we're on the same flight she was in her pajamas she got changed into her pajamas at the airport and was just chilling in them and I was always under that myth impression that you if you dressed up and looked the part you're more likely to get an upgrade because that you know
Starting point is 00:21:41 that goes around everyone's like you gotta look the part and we were laughing to each other and I was like well you're not gonna get to get upgrade are you and she's like what do you mean I said don't you know I said you've got to look the part to try and get upgraded we get to the fucking desk side by side guess who gets the upgrade pajama girl pajama girl got the upgrade and I did not get a thing and I was like I'm sorry have you seen that I'm wearing high-waisted pleated pants I was like I think it's because it gives off the impression that you don't give a shit I was trying too hard she was playing hard to get she wants it too much she did and I couldn't believe it I was like that is actually just a myth bear with me on this one oh I didn't even
Starting point is 00:22:21 mean to cam and bear with me on this one i didn't even mean that i want to talk about cheese just watch out because there's a lot of cheese puns coming you're warned we're going to talk about cheese it is a favorite pastime of ours to eat and chat about we all are infatuated by cheese but not so much as this french man there's this french aussie tourist that's going viral to the point that the daily mail reached out to have a conversation with him i mean you don't have to be particularly viral for the daily mail to want to invest time what is about cheese You've got to hit numbers to get that, don't you? I don't know, because half the time, can we trust the headline?
Starting point is 00:22:58 Has he even spoken about cheese? Is this guy even real? Daily Mail writes some of the most outrageous headlines. Producer Keisha, how many views does that reel have? Can you have a look? It's Leo Philly Petetti or whatever. We nearly have the same last name. I'd love to see how viral it actually went.
Starting point is 00:23:15 But long story short, there's a French tourist. Now, the French are great people, but they're known to be pretty snobby with their food. Like, they love their cheeses. When I am in France, I go to cheese restaurants that's just a cheese restaurant. Like, it is important. Fromage. Yeah, it's important to set the standard. You've been doing Duolingo too?
Starting point is 00:23:34 I should have just ate it all through uni. But they love their cheese. And so he has come to Australia and he's mortified, shocked, horrified at our level of cheese. We're not particularly cultured people, are we? The cheese is cultured. Literally. That was the – thank you. That was good.
Starting point is 00:23:51 We've got that cheese that's got like bits of nuts and apricots all over the outside that's always on every single cheese board and the other one, the Philly one, that's got like some chives on the outside. We think that's cultured though. No, no, no. It's like the most basic Australian cheese board cheese. We do it.
Starting point is 00:24:07 I don't think you can go past Mercy Valley, the cheddar. Mercy Valley, how crumbly it is and delicious, is one of the top cheeses. Sorry, can I add one more and then we can move on to what the story is? my favorite cheese is the one that's got the truffle in it you can get it from coles or woolies and not sponsored and it's like a truffle cheese it is fucked up no you're not at it now that we're sitting in it you'll be levitating my favorite cheese anyway hang on before i tell you i'm gonna tell you the joke what did the cheese say when it looked in the mirror
Starting point is 00:24:38 halloumi every time you tell this joke all i think of georgia love on the bachelor it's the first thing she said shut up i said it on the bachelor it's the very first thing lee said it to her as he walked up the the walkway i also said it to nick well you took her gear then i didn't watch i didn't watch it that was like you're four years too late sorry continue we're really serious how do you get a bear out of a tree come on bear what happened at the cheese factory when it exploded no that's not the joke you ruined it whatever there was debris everywhere no can i just tell you how that's supposed to go because i have a rolodex of cheese jokes oh my god keisha did you hear about the explosion of the cheese factory there was nothing left but debris that's
Starting point is 00:25:23 how it's supposed to go down okay anyway let's get them we just lost a couple of that was a good one sorry oh fuck sorry continue when's it gonna end never i hate what's longer a plank minute a microwave minute or this or a cheese or a cheese minute Let's all just forfeit about it. Sorry. Just fucking go. So he goes viral because he says that in Australia, Cabin Bear and Brie are the same thing.
Starting point is 00:25:55 He's saying that we are trying to trick our people by presenting them as two different things. And when you go to a supermarket, they will be different. They're differently wrapped. They're differently priced. They're differently presented. But apparently he's calling it out and saying that it's the same thing. what's supposed to be the difference i'm not so much a camembert or a brielle consistency
Starting point is 00:26:14 thickness softness like they're supposed to be i feel like you just use three words that all mean the same thing well apparently my cheese vocabulary is not very large apparently i mean it depends on this is so niche now it depends on how premium it is however for most of the sort of like your lower price shelf brands of brie and camembert in australia they are the same cheese they've just been repackaged differently and labeled differently so that the consumer thinks they're buying a different product and this the reason why this French guy got so angry about it and obviously took it personally he went to a Victorian dairy farm and he was asking them about it and it was someone from this Victorian dairy farm that was like yeah our cheeses there are actually the
Starting point is 00:26:55 same they've just been packaged differently don't come for us we're not saying that they're all the same across every brand but there are some Australian brands that are simply if you think you've had a brie and a camembert that are very very similar it's because they're the same but I don't know if I believe it because I eat a lot of camembert and brie and I feel like I taste the difference we were obviously buying the fancy stuff Brit no surprise do you think I don't know and I also tried to do a little google and just just to see but I don't know if there is I don't know if this is going to be like the biggest undercover investigation of our time after Epstein but google doesn't really say they're the same thing they're trying to say
Starting point is 00:27:34 there's some differences so are all the cheese manufacturers in on it together and they're like let's not release that information well something else it's very interesting because none of this has been it actually is i am actually interested by this if you are a cheese person if you like your camembert if you like your brie one thing that they do have in common is that they use the same bacteria a penicillin to create the like white mold that's created on the the rind on the outside and that bacteria is currently going extinct so what's happened it's called penicillin camemberti and it's essentially the white mold that's used to create the rind it is facing an extinction crisis due to over cloning and a lack of genetic diversity eventually there will be no
Starting point is 00:28:15 more camembert for us to enjoy or breathe safe not even the fungus on a cheese is safe i'm just trying to think about where they say due to a lack of genetic diversity bacteria don't breed they replicate well it says this decades of asexual reproduction have rendered the fungus nearly sterile and unable to produce sufficient spores making it highly vulnerable to disease so unfortunately it's no longer doing its job because it's getting attacked by disease and soon we are going to be cheeseless no no we're not cheeseless the cheese isn't going to be affected we'll still have cheddar you cannot be putting that those rooms out there the cheeses are still fine but they may taste a little bit different because they have to use different bacteria so they present
Starting point is 00:28:55 differently and taste differently but we will not completely lose cheese do you know what i remember this is a long time ago this is going back to a housemate I lived with about 11 years ago and obviously for defamation purposes I can't be too specific trust me Keish we're not getting cancelled over cheese cheese is not going to be the thing that undoes life uncut in 2026 his mum worked at a cheese factory it sounds a setup of a joke doesn't it but she's not a joke I remember him saying to me don't buy any of the brand names like buy whatever's cheapest firstly we were uni students so we were quite poor but he was like it's exactly the same cheese I'm not going to go into specific names there was a brand of cheese that is sold in Australia
Starting point is 00:29:37 and he was like that is exactly the same as what's put into the other into like the Coles and the Woolworths brands and I googled it and I checked and it's true they don't do it anymore but back in the day when he told me this it was the case this happens across the board for a lot of products especially with Coles and Woolworths branded so you know how like Coles and Woolies both have their own branded products for whatever it is could be cheese it could be bread it could be fucking canned tomatoes tinned whatever they are all from suppliers that have competing products but they obviously sell a batch lot that's then repackaged to Coles and Woolies like it's kind of like you're still getting a brand name even if you're buying that it's just not the name on the
Starting point is 00:30:17 label but this is also why we why we can't trust anyone's why we can't trust men because no one even the cheese is lying to us yeah guys at the end of the day camembert and brie are the same if you're buying the cheap branded one all right well look the last thing that we wanted to talk about is do you guys remember doing a group uni assignment as part of your degree I mean it's taking us back a long time isn't it but yeah group assignments were like every subject every semester there was your individual and there was always a group assignment well I don't think I did one like every semester but I definitely had a few group assignments thrown in there mine were only at the start yeah yeah yeah there was i don't know but look at the end of the day people have
Starting point is 00:30:55 very conflicting views and opinions as we have realized just between the three of us on whether there is any validity to group assessments when it comes to university now there has been a push by the shadow education minister julian lisa now what he had to say about this is he said this at a conference recently speaking to a body of university australian leaders he said there is always that student who does the work and that student who reaps the benefit it diminishes the role of individuals he also asked unis to rethink the assessments in general saying that there is no compelling justification for making students work in teams unless there are compelling reasons or exceptional circumstances i am calling on you to get rid of group assignments i wouldn't go so
Starting point is 00:31:41 far as to say there is nothing to come from or nothing to learn from working in a group like but there's only something to learn from working in a group if all people within that group are dedicated to doing the assignment or you learn how to get out of doing work yeah every single assignment because at uni I was a real goody two-shoes I was a real like yeah guys I have something to tell you because I just want to gloat I was part of the golden key society which means I was like had a high distinction average yeah but you didn't know I'm kidding I did find I just wanted Keisha every part of me. That was such a bitchy thing to say.
Starting point is 00:32:15 I'm joking. I took the low-hanging fruit. I wanted to be low as well. Congratulations. Thank you. The golden key. The golden key society means you're in the top 15 percentile of all university students in Australia.
Starting point is 00:32:26 And I was that for the first year and then I got kicked out. And then I found the uni bar. It didn't stay that way. But the reasoning for this is, like, if you are someone who, like, really takes university seriously, there are a lot of people who don't take university seriously. And the problem with that is that you then are the one who ends up carrying everyone on your back because you've set such high expectations and standards for yourself. And me at that time when I was doing this, I could not fucking rationalize getting a lower grade because of other people's input.
Starting point is 00:32:57 So I just ended up doing all their work for them, which was awful. I wouldn't have passed if it weren't for group assignments. I was also very studious. Pretty, I will carry you on my back, girlfriend. I was in the bronzed key society. I was great and very studious and I had a science brain, but things like statistics, I could not get my head around. And like my degree had to have statistics and a big part
Starting point is 00:33:24 of it was statistics. God only fucking knows why. But I would not have passed that hands down if I weren't in group assignments. It got to the point where I literally just copy and pasted somebody else. Like someone did it for me because the group would fail. I was like, guys, my brain just doesn't, like I tried, but I could not compute it.
Starting point is 00:33:43 I understand why you're saying then that you see the benefit of it, but do you not understand why that is something that then shouldn't necessarily work for the greater? No, because it shouldn't have been in my degree. Like, you know how sometimes they need fillers? I think they just fill it. Like my degree, diagnostic radiography, I didn't need statistics. I just didn't need it. But for some fucking reason, they threw it in the degree, but I wouldn't have, I wouldn't
Starting point is 00:34:04 have passed, but that doesn't make me any better at my degree. Do you know what I mean? It doesn't make you any better at the job of being a radiographer. Yes, that did not touch the sides. Do you guys remember the meme? I've just Googled it to get the exact wording. It said, when I die, I want my group project members to lower me into my grave so they can let me down one last time.
Starting point is 00:34:23 That was Laura. Laura wrote that. That was Laura. Laura wrote that after she said live, laugh, love. I think this is so funny coming from the shadow minister because to me, it's giving like, do you guys remember when you were in primary school and you had to do like the speech to try and become the captain of the school and you would just make all of these fake promises that was like I'm gonna get coke in the bubblers and I'm gonna get this and that this to me is the
Starting point is 00:34:44 shadow minister being like what niche part of the education system do I want to target I want to target the people who are pissed off by group assignments you know and I'm gonna pretend like I'm gonna ban them do you know what um I don't want to humbly brag but I was school captain in year six sorry I just I was school captain I am not surprised by that and I I knew this of you I just love that this has turned into both of us being like we were we were academic we were good because I was gonna tell you I'm like here's a meme I remember no because I'm gonna tell you I remember what off the back of that I remember what I promised in year six when I was doing my captaincy speech where you were running and you were you were saying what you were going to
Starting point is 00:35:25 promise i remember not promising coke in the bubblers because mom didn't let us have coke but i promised to lengthen lunch breaks so that people could play handball more that was what i said that's good that's a good lie but the teachers must have been like you can't just lengthen the lunch break but it's a nice like that's what political leaders do right they over promise i'll release shadow ministers are worse because they don't actually have to follow through with it it's just to make it the actual minister look like they're not doing the thing of the people guys i will release the files just completely redacted and half of them just let me be the president. I think it makes you a good politician, Britt. And I, yeah, I can see you being a school
Starting point is 00:36:01 captain. I certainly wasn't one. I want to come in and defend the group project though. Cause I remember when my first day at uni, we were put into a group project and there was actually a girl there. And initially when we met within our group project, it was like, we were just given a group, right? Cause he didn't know anybody. We hated each other. Well, like I thought she was such a miserable sod. She also listens to this podcast. So Brooke, hello, this is a shout out you. She thought I was the most annoying, overexcited, like bubbly, just so frustrating. And we really didn't like each other's personality. Brooke is going to love this. This is about 13 years later. When did it get better?
Starting point is 00:36:37 She's still one of my really good friends. Like shout out to Brooke. We hate Brooke. Initially we didn't get on right, but working on a group project together, we bonded over the fact that everyone else in the group wasn't really pulling their weight. And we ended up becoming really, really good friends from it. So I think that group projects can be great especially in your early days of uni because it makes you form friendships with people that you wouldn't otherwise interact with which is something that sets you up for life i agree however friendship is not necessary like necessary to receiving a degree you can receive a degree it was for me laura laura finished with no friends but a golden key i had to copy their
