It's all of the shit that ended up in our group chat that we wish we could have talked about on the podcast so we made an episode for it. It is the little nomi nomi nomi nomi nomi noms. No, do you know what I wanted to kickstart with today? I feel like Kris Jenner, now bear with me, we are going to the Kardashians. I feel like Kris Jenner has pulled off the ultimate playbook that she's ever pulled off like if you think Kris Jenner's the ultimate mummager right everything she does their whole career for every single Kardashian has been linked back to Kris Jenner do you know Laura who the daughters are dating right now yeah Jacob Elordi is one and then uh what's his name uh Chalamet All right, let me just do it.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Chalamet, Chalamet, Chalamet, Chalamet. So their current situation, Kylie Jenner is with Timothee Chalamet. They've been with, I don't know, three or four years or something. Yeah, but he's copped a bit of backlash recently, as we said. He peaked and now he's on the other side of his peak, I reckon. Timothee Chalamet. He's doing just fine. And then we have Kendall Jenner, who is now with Jacob Elordi.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Allegedly, they were seen smooching at Coachella, And so they're an item, which I think is, I don't know, I think that's a bit of like siblings or dating vibe. Don't you reckon? They look very similar. They're both very tall and lanky with dark hair and they could 100% be like twins. No, I feel as though if they are actually together and that's a legitimate couple, that is the hottest couple that's ever existed.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Like that's too much. The world can't handle that. Although I wonder if we're going to see the same Kardashian effect to Jacob Elordi if they actually start dating is what we saw in Timothee Chalamet because people love him because he was this kind of like underground Australian actor who like starred in Salt whatever it was. And I was about to say Salt Lake, it wasn't that, Salt Burn. And I do think he has established himself now
Starting point is 00:03:22 as like a really well-respected actor. And I think that the Kardashian association in some respects does some damage to that. Am I here to ship the relationship? Absolutely. But I do wonder what we'll be saying about it in six months time if they are actually together and what would be the media cycle
Starting point is 00:03:39 and how the media will interpret it in months to come. Well, I didn't think we're going to go down this angle of Jacob Elordi's acting career, but here we are. It's interesting because Jacob Elordi was on this crazy trajectory with a large thanks to the likes of Margot Robbie who put him in Saltburn and then they just did Wuthering Heights together and he was getting a lot of critical acclaim. But I don't know if you've seen all of the chat around him recently, Laura,
Starting point is 00:04:02 because The Last Euphoria has come out and it's just been absolutely slammed as like the worst cringiest trashiest plot line dialogue acting like it's actually been slammed so it's interesting to see if that is going to undo anything Jacob Elordi is an untouchable god at the moment and I mean I even remember when he was in Sydney for a little while and he was like around Paddington which is kind of like not too far from where we live but also it's where I work and there were like women who had found out that he'd been at one of the nail parlors and the women swarmed the nail parlor. Like people were swarming Paddington trying to find Jacob Elordi. He could play a tree and he would still be fine, wouldn't he? He'd probably get an Oscar for it.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And then, well, back to this ultimate like dating triangle. So we've got Timothee Chalamet, we've got Jacob Elordi, and now Kim Kardashian has gone hard launched official with Lewis Hamilton. And Lewis Hamilton is one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. He's an F1 driver. He's one of the best F1 drivers in the world. Imagine going to a dinner party like the family Christmas and it's those three men at your dinner table. It's insane. She's pulled off like a trifecta. You would go to bed at nighttime and be like, I did well. I'm doing okay as a mom. Anyway, let's get into the first thing that we want to unpack. And that is astronauts penis size. I know you've all been on the edge of your seat for this one. I came across something this week on Instagram
Starting point is 00:05:27 and I I fuck it sent me into outer space one might say now it is all you've been waiting to say that you only wanted to talk about this so you could say that I know sent into orbit okay so hear me out nothing I love more than outer space and laughing about men I should say do you know what I got called a man hater on this podcast in our reviews recently and I don't hate men not all of them anyway. Did she get called a man hater? Yeah someone wrote Laura and her man hating ways and I really don't hate men no someone wrote you have been on a rampage lately though yeah someone wrote thank god Laura had three girls because she hates men that's so funny also imagine feeling the need to go and write that as a review like
Starting point is 00:06:18 was it a man it must have been the problem is is I loved men so much in my 20s and my 30s I dated them all and I realized that so many of them are terrible anyway okay look penis size let's get back to it so NASA was faced with an unusual problem now apparently this happened quite a few years ago but it's done what the internet does and it has resurfaced and it's because it's just too funny for it to die so the problem that NASA had is that they have inside their spacesuits, they have a penis sleeve, right? So they have a sleeve that the men have to put their penis into that stops any urine leaking into their suits. And it's like a plastic bag situation that suctions onto their penis so that there's no way for the urine to come out, right?
Starting point is 00:07:02 It's almost like a condom. Yeah. So they've said it has to fit snugly around the penis. Zero gravity waste expert, Donald Retke explained the system and said inside the urine collection assembly were these things that called a pee pouch. It is a one liter bag and the attachment to the body is a condom with a hose on the end of it, which allowed the urine to flow freely into the bag. Now, the problem that we had is that astronauts were given different sizes that they had to choose in order to be able to fit themselves with the pee bag. Now, those sizes came in small, medium or large. I can see where this is going. The issue that they had is that men were not a very good gauge of their own size and what was happening is that the equipment was slipping off
Starting point is 00:07:46 imagine the pea sleeve coming off and all the urine floating throughout the spaceship that was happening it was because the men were not able to size themselves because every single astronaut every single male astronaut chose the large now they decided to relabel them this is the official relabeling of the penis bag pee bag i don't know what we're gonna call it but they decided that it was a labeling problem they didn't need to change anything about the product the product worked the product was seamless and what they decided to do is they decided to change the labels to extra large immense and unbelievable okay hear me out first no man ever whether you're in space or on the ground whether you have gravity or no gravity no man is going to put his hand up
Starting point is 00:08:32 to a crowd of people and say yes i'll take the extra small penis size please like that was never going to happen but they probably didn't really think through what was going to happen if they had a size too big which is that you have free-flowing wee throughout your cabin in space in perpetuity yeah but surely they just do what you do as a breastfeeding mother so I went in to get like breast pumps right and they have a nipple sizing chart they give you a chart and it's got all these holes punched out of the chart and you go into it yeah you go into a change room and you just hold the chart over your nipple the hole over your nipple I did not know that Yeah. So I'm like, I don't know why men need to be reassured that their penis is immensely
Starting point is 00:09:11 humongous or unbelievable or out of this world or astronomical. Like why do they need to be given that level of reassurance? No, because your nipple's not the same. Like having a big or small nipple doesn't affect, like a penis size affects their manhood. That's the way society's always told them. But like no one has ever said, oh, you have small nipples, like you're less than, or you have big nipples, you're less than. I get it. I get why they don't want to admit it. I disagree. I understand not to the same standard, but I do think that there's a bit of shame around nipple size. I feel like that people have loads of weird hangups around their nipples and how they feel their nipples are, but it's irrelevant because the sizing gauge works really well
Starting point is 00:09:47 because it doesn't shame you for having any size nipples. Like all the different cutouts have different millimeter gauges on them, right? They're not about the length of your penis. It's about the girth. And this is about like the overall size of your nipples. So if you have like a hole punched out and the guy just has to go into a bathroom and put his penis through the little hole and figure out which it's a glory hole it's an astronaut glory hole that's literally what it is figure out what the girth of their penis is surely there's a better way surely for all the money that's pumped into fucking space research surely there is a better way than this imagine if you are a nasa astronaut and you have been studying and training for 12
Starting point is 00:10:29 years and then you find yourself lined up to put your dick through a glory hole like you're like this is not what I have trained for this is this has got to be a joke I bet you that once they changed it to immense unbelievable and extra large there were zero issues were there yeah the second that they changed the wording men were free from embarrassment they were then able to choose their more accurate sizing and nobody felt as though it was I guess like a mark on their manhood that they had a small penis dude if you sorry it doesn't matter what size your penis is if you're a NASA astronaut, like that is your flex. That is what you lead with when you go to a bar. That is what you're like, Hey, I'm from NASA. Like I'm an astronaut. Then it doesn't matter what you're
Starting point is 00:11:06 packing. Yeah, I agree. But there would be something deeply emasculating. You've trained all your life for this, like dedicated your entire life, all of your time, your energy, family sacrifices to going to outer space. And just before you're about to board that airplane, they're like small penis. Like you would, you would feel a little bit like fucking hell penis sorry we are not laughing bringing that laura we're not laughing that was really out of this world thank you next up i want to talk about an opinion piece that i saw in the new york times and this one i mean this one i felt like i really connected with now this is actually quite a long video discussion between three women that you guys can we're going to link
Starting point is 00:11:50 it. You can go and watch it if it's of interest. But it's about this cultural rebranding in the dating world between men and women. And the reason I resonated with it is because it's about cougadom. Cougadom? Cougadism. Cougadom. Ah, the damn cougars are back again, mom. I don't know if there's cougarism. Cougars. Oh, fuck. I don't know. It's about women dating down. it's age gap relationships now traditionally obviously men usually date down that's what we see and there's this age-old trope that you're in a relationship for however many years and then the men get rid of the women and then they go and get a younger model and they date down again and that's what we've seen for as long as time but now this opinion piece is really fascinating because
Starting point is 00:12:34 what we're starting to see is men in their 20s and 30s are choosing to date older women like they are choosing to date women in their 40s, 50s, and sometimes even older, like these huge age gap relationships. And it's really fascinating because they talk to the women about their experiences and what they're seeing. And these women are also asking the younger men, like, why are you dating me? Like, why are you dating an older woman? And I actually went and asked Ben the same thing. Now, my age gap with Ben is not big. It's five years, but I'm still a woman five years older than my partner, right? Like I'm in my late thirties and he's in his early to mid thirties. And he said, cause he listened to this opinion piece with me. And he said, the one thing
Starting point is 00:13:19 that he didn't really hear them say, he said, they're missing the main thing. And I said, what's that? And he said, peace. And I said, what do you mean peace? And he's like, there's just peace about being with somebody, a woman that's a little bit older because you've lived and you've learned and the same things don't bother you. So he's like, there's the same level of drama isn't there. And he's like, I don't know how to put my finger on it, but when you're dating a younger woman, maybe in their early twenties or that are still finding their feet and still figuring out who they are and what they want, he's like so much drama comes with it. But when I met you, it was just peace. He's like, cause you knew who you were. You knew what you wanted. You didn't
Starting point is 00:13:54 need anything from me. And that reflects the ideas of these women in the opinion piece for the New York times. They're so stable in who they are and they know who they are and they know what they want. And they don't need anything from the men and the men, the younger men love this feeling of like, there's no expectations on me. I don't have to show up and provide. And I, they're emotionally intelligent women. And a lot of them have said that they're being taught a lot about emotional IQ from these older women. And I think that's fascinating because we always do these throwaway comments with younger men about their emotional IQ being not up to scratch. And I have always made the assumption that that's because they don't care or they don't want to, but it's pretty
Starting point is 00:14:36 refreshing to hear a bunch of younger men saying that they're wanting to learn emotional IQ from older women. I wonder though, in that respect, it's not that they aren't able to learn those lessons in the relationships that they have with people who are their own age. I just wonder whether they don't listen to people who are their own age and they feel as though, do you know what I mean? It's almost like this moment complex that kind of comes into account. I don't mean that in terms of your relationship. Like your relationship is different. Firstly, five years, it's not a huge age gap but also you both made the decision and wanted to be in a committed relationship I think a lot of these types of age gap relationships are a little bit more transient and they're more
Starting point is 00:15:13 talking about relationships where there's no expectation of an actual relationship like we know that we're kind of seeing each other we're together we are having sex we're having this you know a relationship but like I'm not going to give you kids I'm not going to marry you I don't want any of those things from you and so we both know what it is that we're investing into this relationship and no one's left feeling as though they're missing out or they're being taken advantage of or they're wondering like what are we what does this mean because it's very obvious and evident for both of them what it means yeah and there was something else that they said which was the value of direct communication with older women they're saying that they get really direct
Starting point is 00:15:53 communication and they don't need to second guess they don't need to mind read they don't need to figure something out. I want to say in a way, maybe the emotional responses to things are more balanced and less dramatic than when you're a bit younger. And I don't, I want to be careful because we're not just saying all young people are dramatic and overreacting and older people aren't. Of course, we're blanket statement in here, but I can look at who I am and how I react to things and how I move through life now, being in my late thirties to when I was in my twenties. and it's markedly different and it has to be different because you've learned and you've experienced other things that are going to change the way you show up to the world and the way you
Starting point is 00:16:30 show up to a relationship. I show up to my relationships now as a completely different person to when I was in my twenties. Like, and so I think that the way this one guy said, the way that older women have direct communication styles compared to the younger people he has dated, I think there's a lot of truth to that. And that's also because when you're younger, maybe it's changing with this generation but when you're a younger woman sometimes it's hard to speak up for yourself or have direct communication you want to beat around the bush and you want to be a bit of a people pleaser and you don't want to disrupt your relationship yeah you know and so I think when you're older you just don't give a fuck anymore really like you know what your
Starting point is 00:17:06 boundaries are and you know what you want and you know who you are I think it does depend though and it comes back to this idea as to how high are the stakes in the relationship if it's someone and you know it's a younger guy who's in a relationship with an older woman and she doesn't want anything from him, then it's easy to communicate in a way that's not emotionally charged because the emotions are not charged. So, I mean, it's easy on one hand for us to sit here and say like, well, someone who's older is just going to be better at communicating. I know loads of people who are older, who are absolutely not better at communicating. I don't think it's necessarily an age related thing. I think it comes down to how invested
Starting point is 00:17:41 these people are in the relationship. And by all accounts, these feel like more casual relationships and therefore it's easier to communicate in them in a way that isn't fearful about losing them. And I think when you're younger and if you have a high stakes relationship where you are so invested, you are thinking marriage and kids and all of those big things that you want with that person. Of course, when they do something that upsets you, it feels way more emotionally charged because the stakes are so much higher. So I think we have to be careful with saying just because you're older, you're better at navigating X, Y, Z. I actually think it comes down to the dynamic of these relationships. And these younger guys who are choosing to date some
Starting point is 00:18:22 older women have realized that they cannot provide or they don't want to provide potentially what their partners of the same age are looking for. They want something that's non-committal. They want something that feels like they can go and just live their life, but also still have a relationship on the side. And that's what they're getting by these arrangements. We recently spoke to Joanne McNally who we love and she was talking about what it's like dating now in her 40s and she said that she's been dating a lot of younger guys and she said that it's been an interesting one because for all the reasons that we've just described she's like they're interested in dating me because they know that I'm not after the things that people who are their age are after and
Starting point is 00:19:03 so the transaction of the relationship just feels really different and I think the thing that's like quite cool about where we're at now with the whole I guess like age gap relationships is this feels like the tables have turned a little bit I think that the stigma around older women dating younger men has started to shift and I think that people don't see it as being this like weird strange taboo thing anymore whereas before the whole cougardom or cougar kind of I guess label was something that really kind of felt a bit icky whereas the exact same like for like in a male and female dynamic has been normalized for so long but at this point it's almost celebrated you're like yes queen like you're like get that 28 year old ass you know like it's like
Starting point is 00:19:50 that's how I imagine those women are talking to each other I don't know I don't know if we're allowed to say that either it still feels wrong I don't know but it's not wrong it's like these are grown men and there's absolutely nothing wrong with two consenting adults and a 20-year age gap if the man wants to. But the last thing we haven't really mentioned yet is the fact that a lot of men do it for sexual experience. They're getting different sexual experiences with women that are a little bit older that have lived a little. And a lot of them have openly said that that's the reason they do it. Well, there you go, everyone. Right on into the sunset. Get it, Queens. Get it. All right. I want to play for you a video. It's all around millennial propaganda.
Starting point is 00:20:33 I would love you guys to think about what is the millennial propaganda. Put your tinfoil hats on everyone. What's the millennial propaganda that you've been fed? I'm sure there's a bit. This is more so about being sold a lie when it comes to Hollywood romantic relationships. This was recently posted by an author and his name is Jason K. Pargin. Have a listen to this. What's the weirdest propaganda you feel like movies have tried to push on you in your lifetime? For me, I grew up with tons and tons of movies that kept saying that the worst thing a man could be is a grown-up. You'd see a lot of love triangle romances like this, where the guy you're supposed to be rooting against, his only sin is that he's just kind of normal. He's got like a job and stuff,
Starting point is 00:21:15 but then some other guy, a bad boy, would come along and it doesn't matter that he like sleeps in his car. Or if both of the guys are financially stable, you're supposed to root for the one that is less emotionally stable. The one that is more childlike. And sometimes they would code it as, well, he only cares about his career and money, and he only cares about her. And if you're a teenager, that sounds great, but once you grow up, you realize, well, yeah, having a career sucks up a huge amount of your energy. And he just mathematically does not have the same amount of free time and the hardest thing you find out when you become an adult is that this is harder like objectively harder to show up every single day and to do the job to do it well and to be
Starting point is 00:21:59 detail-oriented to be the boring adult in the situation is heroic when i was listening to this like this has 2 000 comments and it really goes into the dynamic firstly the setup is around the notebook do you guys remember in the notebook i mean there's so many things about that show which we all love. It's so toxic but it's so problematic and I know we know that now but at the time it really fucked us up okay. We still love it. It has a lot of explaining to do when it comes to like the toxic relationships that we all exposed ourselves to because we thought that that was what the idea of love is but what Jason is saying in this reel is he's saying that not only were the toxic relationships or like the teenager the guy who was the most unreliable guy
Starting point is 00:22:43 the guy who had pretty much nothing going for him by like society's metrics that that was the guy that you're gonna have the most intense chemistry and wonderful connection with and that in the end it was all gonna work out okay like we were made to think that the stability is bad and that the chaos is good we've all been groomed to believe in this sort of like love story outcome which only reinforces why we all have so many issues when it comes to dating when you do go back and think in the notebook specifically, like Ryan Gosling was not the choice. Like James Marsden was that really stable. I mean, for want of a better word, he was probably a bit boring, but he was wealthy and polite and everything that you would want on paper. But we still choose the person that's like
Starting point is 00:23:25 chaotic because they've got passion and they don't know what they're doing, but they love with their heart. You know, it's like, we always are going to pick that person, but that's like the movie world, right? We are fed that because there'd be no movie without it. It would be very boring if two men enter the scene and she was like, oh, this one makes sense. I'll take him and I'll ride off into the sunset in my blue chip home. No one's going to watch that. Hollywood made the person that's reliable, the person that's the nice guy, the person that has a really good job and just shows up consistently. Hollywood made him boring. Hollywood made him so stable that he was so uninteresting that we couldn't possibly want that for ourselves.
Starting point is 00:24:05 This pattern plays out in so many different movies and it's something that this reel goes into. titanic is another one however you know when you watch titanic it was obviously so many years ago i haven't seen that movie in so long but the jack dawson who's played by leonardo dicaprio he's obviously the one that you're rooting for like he's so genuine authentic and even though he has nothing you want rose to be with him in the end like this is a guy who has absolutely nothing they are going to be together despite class despite everything else but the show itself So like Cal Hockley, who is the love interest that she has, who's like the stable and reliable one.
Starting point is 00:24:42 It was my great, great, great, great, great grandpa. His what? Hockley. Did you know that I had someone on the Titanic? What? Yeah. Have we never discussed that? We've never discussed this.
Starting point is 00:24:54 No, I actually don't know, but it is Hockley in my opinion. I was like, I don't think he's a real person. Is he really? Yeah. I think he's real. It's based off real people. I think, I don't know. I'll just Google it.
Starting point is 00:25:04 I don't know. I actually don't think. maybe i have claims this is like the time you said that easter falls on the first whatever it was it falls on the first sunday of march or something which was totally no i literally yeah i literally just made that up but hockley it's not a common name so there may be some i may have had someone on the titanic anyway as you were okay well the thing about that titanic i mean maybe someone who's watching more recently needs to come and tell me the actual truth to this but like the guy who she was set up with you know her other suitor he was also he i
Starting point is 00:25:35 guess he was kind of framed as being like not a nice guy as well or not someone who she should be with which is also what makes you root for Jack but when you actually watch the movie and it plays out the only thing he did is that when he wants to like unwind he's sitting back and he's talking with his friends and he's talking about finances and he's a bit stuffy really right like he's a stuffy I guess secure miserable pompous person right whereas Jack the reason why he becomes relatable and really lovable and the person that you want her to be with because he's authentic is because he gets fucking blind drunk and parties. He behaves like a literal teenager. And yet we all watch this movie and we're like, yes, that's the person because he's
Starting point is 00:26:16 free spirited, spontaneous. He's emotional and he's alive. And I just think about my dating life to date. And I chose those people all the time. I chose the Jacks. I chose the person who was spontaneous, who act like a teenager, who live life to the fullest and who was completely unreliable. And those relationships never ended in the fairy tale movie that I was promised. You know, the biggest example of it is Bridget Jones's Diary, where it's Hugh Grant versus Mr. Darcy and Mr. Darcy, who's Colin Firth. You know, like it makes sense, right? He makes sense, but he's so boring. And you're like, that should be the person that you're with, but you're always going to be with the fuck boy but if you think about real life now
Starting point is 00:26:59 I think now the cost of living crisis and where we are in the economy I think it's different now I think it's like oh my god I love you so much but I'm so sorry I need to take the safe financial option like people have switched they're leaving that passion I think and they're like I need to go for something that is really stable I don't think they're doing that because of being I don't think people are prioritizing these things because of financial crisis oh yeah they're marrying much loss it is I think that I think we've woken up and we've realized that we've been sold a lie and that I think so many of us are now a little bit more literate when it comes to relationships and it comes to this concept of chemistry and chasing the bad boy and chasing what's not good
Starting point is 00:27:37 for us obviously not everyone obviously so many of us are still working through the patterns and working through the reasons why we dated or date the people that we date Laura's still working through it no no I obviously came to the end of it and I dated the nice guy and I married the nice guy and he is the best thing that ever happened to me but the reality is is like we've been sold or conditioned to believe that the nice stable guy is not the person you should be with and I think until you're able to break that pattern of behavior and that thinking you're never going to have a great relationship and I absolutely when I watched this reel I absolutely had this moment where I was like Hollywood has so much more to pay and to actually answer for when it
Starting point is 00:28:18 comes to this dynamic because not only have we been dealing with it within our own lives it's also been repeated to us on screens this fairy tale this meet cute this like the way in which you're going to find your person and who that person's going to be and so I guess my lesson here is that if you're ever given the opportunity to date the chaos or the person that gives you stability and is really really lovely maybe try the stability just see where it goes wait are we blaming all of our relationship problems and red flags on mr darcy like where are we i'm blaming everything on the notebook and also the titanic but mostly the notebook fuck you ryan gosling the last thing i want to talk about today and i realize there
Starting point is 00:28:58 seems to be a theme with age here but hear me out beck judd who if you know who beck judd is she's based down in melbourne in australia she's a model she's a tv presenter she's also now podcast host she hosts a podcast called the veinish and something that she said recently on her podcast about an experience that she had at Coachella really got my blood boiling so she goes to Coachella every year because she's quite the fashion influencer and she goes she goes a group of people she looks stunning she has amazing outfits like she's a beautiful beautiful woman and now not that it matters but she looks very young she does not look her age so she was talking about going recently and somebody like just a I don't even know if they're a follower but somebody
Starting point is 00:29:43 commented on her posts and basically said like, why are you at Coachella? You're over 40, people over 40 don't belong. Literally saying like, you are too old to be here. And it just got me thinking about this conversation because I did think we were past it. I thought we were past this women die at 40 and like you're off the shelf and no one cares about you anymore. And I'm not sure what people think happens at 40 years old. Like, are you not allowed to have fun anymore? Are you not allowed to go out and I actually loved what Bec Judd said because she really bit back at them she goes you wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for us because our generation are the people that built the music festivals like our generation the people that started Coachella so she's like
Starting point is 00:30:26 fuck off you little brat she's like you're only at Coachella because we started it and it just got me thinking why do we still have this age limit in society of once you're a 40 year old woman that you should A, be wearing certain clothes, B, not be allowed to party, not be allowed to have fun, not be on social media. I mean, you've just turned 40, Laura, you're not about to go and lock yourself in your room and never do anything else again. I mean, I would love to lock myself in the room and never do anything else again. That sounds like fucking You're like, actually, yes, please. Is there a bed? Can I stay in the bed for two weeks? Britt, we're going to have some of our older listeners who are going to come for you. We are
Starting point is 00:31:01 not the generation who started festivals. In terms of like, are you too old to go to something like Coachella I think the reason why people feel as though Coachella specifically has an age is because something about Coachella online these days seems as though it's very much targeted to young influencers like there's a very specific Coachella crowd I would say and I don't think it's so much an age thing and more so it's around like a vibe fit like you have to be invited to go to Coachella by the different brands you've got to be invited to go and be a part of and it's like this almost like exclusive unattainable inspirational aspirational influencer festival and I understand why some people are like oh hold on then you're aged out of it it's
Starting point is 00:31:46 because of what I guess the festival has been made to look like online do I agree with it absolutely not I think that no matter who you are man woman whatever binary however old you are go to whatever the fuck you want to unless you're a really old dude going to the Wiggles by yourself because that's weird but like I actually don't think that there's a limit on any of this stuff and I think that there has been so many conversations that have happened that have shifted the dial and that have made women feel as though they can do things and break outside these age parameters and relationship parameters that we've been put in for so long but I think if Beck wants to go and fucking live it up at Coachella and feel like she's 20 for the rest
Starting point is 00:32:26 of her life if she's still doing that when she's 60 I wish I had that energy but it's not this is the thing it's not even feeling like you're 20 it's just feeling your age you don't stop liking music when you hit a certain age you don't stop wanting to communicate with other people and have a community and have new experiences when you hit a certain age and also the thing is Laura on what you said you don't have to be invited to go to Coachella anyone can buy a ticket but they have certain like VIP tents around that you have to be invited if you want to enter those tents but anyone can go. And the thing is when she's saying, she's not saying you owe us the 40 year olds to the music festival. She's saying you owe us as in old people, quote unquote, to the young
Starting point is 00:33:06 whippersnappers. She's like, you guys, if it wasn't for all the oldies, you wouldn't have these festivals. And I think the last thing specifically I want to say about Coachella to people that think people are too old to be going, you have people like Madonna headlining, like you have people like Madonna showing up and performing. She's 67 years old and she got on that stage and she absolutely rocked it. So who are you to say that there is an age limit on people that can enjoy music from people that are like 70 year olds that are coming and performing? It's just insane. One thing I do want to, I do want to point out though, is like, absolutely, what you've just said is correct. Of course, you don't need to be invited to go to Coachella. It
Starting point is 00:33:44 is a festival, but the version of it that we see online that is very brand driven and that is influencer focused, a lot of that is invitation, right? It's like the revolver tense. It's the brand exclusive tents. That's why, I mean, Fate the Label have just recently done their own version of like, you know, a Fate Festival. It's because it's all based off this exclusivity of coming to an influencer event that is based around Coachella. These brands pay literally millions of dollars to create the setups and the brand partnerships around Coachella. I think that it's very specific, that comment of saying like, you're too old to go to Coachella or people over 40 shouldn't be Coachella I don't actually think it's about your regular punters going to a festival of course
Starting point is 00:34:27 people know that of any age you can go to a festival I actually think that that's really targeted at Beck I think it's really targeted at saying aren't you as an influencer too old to be doing this because Coachella in itself is usually targeted like your young 20 year old makeup influencers I feel like it's someone putting her in a category as a social media person being like you've aged out of this, act your age, which equally is just as problematic and is equally as negative and ageist. But I actually don't think it's about Coachella as a thing in total. I think it's really specifically about her going. I can smell the jealousy from here, from whoever wrote this in. I can smell it. That is what it is. Pet Kajad looks amazing,
Starting point is 00:35:10 has an amazing life, goes to Coachella and parties with amazing famous people. She's absolutely been a best life and play on people can go to jail until they're 80 years old totally but you know what else i think last thing i want to say on this is i think also because she's a mom people put different expectations on women as we enter different phases of life and as we enter different i guess stages especially around motherhood when you have kids there's almost this expectation that you grow up and you stop behaving a certain way and of course in some respects it's important like you know you can't have kids and still go out having benders like of course you need to grow up in some ways but at the same time you can still tap into those things
Starting point is 00:35:50 that make you feel alive and youthful you know it's the same reason why lisa and sarah you guys would have seen like the disco clubs lisa and sarah are podcasters and they had been doing podcast live shows for a really long time but the thing that's made them actually really famous around australia and far better and more well known than their podcast is the fact that they do these disco clubs where all of these millennial 30 40 50 year old women get together wear sequins no men and just dance their fucking asses off because we are of that generation where we went clubbing on every friday saturday night like we know how to party we drunk alcohol we know how to party better than anyone knows how to party but there aren't that many opportunities to do it once
Starting point is 00:36:33 you enter into that phase of life and i think that that's what this is right like it's it's that one thing that Beck does and where she's like, it's what I enjoy. It makes me feel young. It makes me feel like I'm in touch with who I am as a person that's outside of just being a mom and someone who works and someone who has to do the normal nine to five of life. I'm calling it 40 is the new 20. Oh, I've been saying it for weeks. Guys, that is it. We are going to get out of here.
