Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode was recorded on Camaragal land. Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Brittany. My name happens to be Maddie J. Yes, and this is our radio show, The Pickup. We do this every week. We package up the show into the best bits so you can have a listen. If you missed it throughout the week whilst you were in your car,
Starting point is 00:00:23 Maddie J's been feeling in for his beautiful wife, Laura, for a couple of weeks now. She is very beautiful. I'm a very lucky man. It's a very different vibe having a male. I tell you. Good or bad? What do you think?
Starting point is 00:00:32 It's mixed. Sometimes I need support that a woman would give me that a male can't understand. In what way? Explain to me. When you don't have a woman's perspective or maybe it's about hormones or periods. We had a period chat last week or maybe it's just relationship advice. It just hits different. Having said that, it's also great to get relationship advice from a male because we don't know what
Starting point is 00:00:53 that's like. I don't think I've given any relationship advice. You have. Not this week, but you do give a lot. Do I? Yeah. Tell me to stop. If I start giving advice, honestly, pull me up.
Starting point is 00:01:04 You haven't said anything about my moustache. Oh, I didn't even notice. No one's going to say anything about the moustache? You've always had a moustache. It's thicker. I've been growing it. No. Have you been using like a hair growth serum?
Starting point is 00:01:15 No, I've got a role in a movie called The Killings and I have to play a cop from 1987. Okay, so I mean I want to be honest. You don't look different to me because you always have a moustache. Producer Grace? I didn't notice the difference either. I've been growing my hair out. I'm surprised you guys recognise me when I come into the room.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Nothing? No. You look lovely. I noticed the gun in your holster is method acting. Yeah, I now walk around with a revolver in my pocket. No, so I'm doing that on Friday. I have two lines. Oh, can you tell us what the lines are?
Starting point is 00:01:49 The line is like, I need your ID. No, can you give us the, I want to hear it as you're acting as the cop. I need your ID. Oh, that was it. I think you need to work on that. No, that's – I don't want to oversell it. What's the second line? That's kind of it.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Oh, so it's one line. Yeah, well, it's a few words. I'm very excited about this role. I don't know when it comes out. You've really committed. You've got four words and you committed to a full-on moustache? Don't they have like – You never know who's watching, Brit.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Spielberg might be watching this and go, gosh, that cop, that young man with the moustache, he's going to be someone one day. I want him to be in my next blockbuster. Who knows? And people will go, where did you start, Matt? Where was your career? Where did it like – where was it born? And I say, well, I was in this little role called The Killings
Starting point is 00:02:31 where I had a moustache. I was playing a cop. I think everything that you just said is absolutely true. You need to commit and you take every role seriously. I just thought that for just four words that you'd be able to stick on a moustache. No, it's just not the same. I'm a method actor.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Yeah, so you want to really feel it. Feel the tickle. Very, very exciting. Laura actually likes it. She likes it when I – and also to really get in the character, I've not shaved anything at all. I've been just like – Oh, yeah, well, that's why I'm going to leave that one.
Starting point is 00:02:58 We don't need to know what else happens for you. Because in the 80s, like, no one was shaving back then. Hair was everything. Okay. I can't wait to see this movie. Are you a good cop or a bad cop? I don't know. The role is so small that I've asked for some information
Starting point is 00:03:12 and they're just like, shut up. They're like, you're an extra, shut up. You're like, you literally, yeah, what are you doing? They're like, you're a tree. And I'm like, but what's my motivation here? Like, have I had a good day at work? They're like, shut up. And they're like, they're regretting giving me the role
Starting point is 00:03:25 because I'm just making life complicated for everyone. What did you have to do to get that role? Plead. I don't get paid either. I was like, put me in, sign me up. And then they were like, yeah. I told Laura I'm getting paid a lot of money because... It's like probably a whole day shoot.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I'm gone for the whole day slash night. That is so funny. But if Laura asked, just say that I get paid big bucks for this role. Well, speaking of cops, this is, I mean, this is a semi-segway, but I stumbled across the funniest video that was going viral online. It weirdly has something to do with you, Matt. You didn't know about it. You're in it and it has labelled you as something you are absolutely not
Starting point is 00:04:06 and it is not something that you want to be labelled as and definitely not something you want going viral. I'm still confused if I should message this page on Instagram and request the video get taken down. Or request to be tagged. Like at least give me some credit. Did they tag me in it? No, they didn't.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Oh, my God, that's bloody hell. It's the whole family too. That is unbelievable. Even the kids. I'm going to jump right onto this after we finish recording. I also talk about the fact that recently, just this week, Marley has developed an imaginary friend. Oh, that's cute.
Starting point is 00:04:36 No, it's not. Is it not? It's frustrating. It's so easy to offend the imaginary friend because I don't know where they are and I'm always bumping into them. I'm not taking care of them. And Marley's always like, you're fucking standing on boo. Like you're not feeding them.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Yeah, she's like, you've just – come on, you've got to watch out for boo. And I'm like, I can't even see where – boo is the name of the imaginary friend. You know where it gets problematic? It gets really problematic if you have to start buying it like movie tickets and like paying for it to enter the theme park. Yeah, dude, I'm cooking a dinner. Are you actually? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:06 So then you just eat it? Well, then I just – yeah, I snack on it afterwards. What would you do if you served it its fake dinner and then you actually saw like the sausage levitating in the air into the mouth? I mean, I'd be into it. I'd be into it. I wouldn't mind that. I'm down.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I would be good content for the radio show. Well, I'm invested. I'm a believer in spirits and ghosts. I would love you to try and get some more information from Marley on exactly what this spirit is. Next week, can you tell me about some of your ghost stories? Yeah, absolutely. I love them.
Starting point is 00:05:33 All right, enjoy. I cannot believe we are about to welcome someone into our very tight-knit group, Maddie J. but we have Bachelor Bear in the flesh sitting right opposite us about to give us all the insider goss from the Golden Bachelor. Good morning. Welcome. You are gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Gorgeous. Fire flame if you're an emoji. Absolutely stunning. And he's so humble. Look at him. He won't even acknowledge how good looking he is. No, no. So Matty J and I have both been on the batch.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Matty J's had both experiences. He was a contestant that got dumped and then he became the Bachelor and I was the first person to win the Bachelor in the World and not actually win anything. So that's my flex. How have you found the entire experience compared to now, like the aftermath? Because they're two different experiences.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Yes, indeed. Drusting at filming, meeting all these women, macking on, like having some kissy time and now to doing the publicity tour. Oh, publicity is crazy. It's worse? Well, yeah, yeah, it's much worse. Why?
Starting point is 00:06:37 How come? No, it's okay, it's okay. I'm just taking it day by day. You're saying that because it's your birthday and you're hungover. Yes. Isn't that right? Exactly. Bear, I've got some rapid-fire questions, if I may.
Starting point is 00:06:49 I'll be honest. Before I was on the show, a friend of mine who was in cosmetics said to me, I need some work done because I'm going on TV. I got a bit of Botox. It's the first time I ever got Botox, probably the last. I didn't know this, Matt. Be honest, Bear. Have you had any work done?
Starting point is 00:07:04 Not a bit. Nothing at all? This is all original. All natural. Damn it! So was there one woman in particular from the very start, as soon as you walked in, that sort of took your breath away and you thought, whew, this could be something?
Starting point is 00:07:17 All of them. No, rubbish. That is rubbish. 20 beautiful, absolute intelligent, fun, gorgeous women. So where did they go wrong on mine? We had 30. You couldn't pick one. He's been trained well.
Starting point is 00:07:29 You could waterboard bear and he wouldn't give anything away, which is coming up next. Yeah, after the break. SAS. Is it true? You got paid half a million dollars to be on the show. Half a million? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:41 True or false? That's way too low. More than half a million dollars. Okay. In the American series, we have overnight stays. Previously in Australia, we haven't had that element included. Are there any overnight stays for your season of The Bachelor? I'd just say, well, if you don't buy a new car
Starting point is 00:07:59 without taking a test drive first. Oh, my God. I think that that's an exclusive. Okay. You didn't test drive, did you, Matt? I didn't test drive anything. No. I jumped in.
Starting point is 00:08:10 You're paying for it now. Jumped in, turned the keys to the ignition and it started and I was thrilled. Okay, rose ceremony, group date, single date. What was harder? Rose ceremonies were brutal. They were so hard. But there is something beautiful about the Golden Bachelor. The whole idea is you're older.
Starting point is 00:08:27 You've lived a little. You have so many things that you've all been through that a lot of the younger people might not have been through. And I say that. So I feel like you connect on a different level and I imagine it makes it so much harder to say goodbye to these women that you know have all been through so much.
Starting point is 00:08:42 We've all had love and loss and they were so courageous, those women, and to put themselves out there. To say goodbye to any of them was tough. How did you feel the first time you get thrust into filming and you're having this beautiful moment with this woman and maybe you're in the pool. I remember my first kiss on there, I was in the pool
Starting point is 00:09:01 and we were like trying to be really intimate and beautiful and romantic, but then like you squint one eye open and you've got boom mics in your face and cameramen and all these people watching you. How did you deal with that? Six cameras, 30 people stand around and they say, okay, now be natural. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:18 And kiss. Yeah. Did you find it awkward? Early on, I kind of just blocked everything out and just concentrate on who's in front of me. True or false, the rumour mill has been rife and we can put this to bed finally once and for all, is there any truth at all to the chemistry
Starting point is 00:09:38 between yourself and Sam Armitage? If I had an extra rose, I probably would have. I saw it. I saw it night one. There was chemistry there. But there were. She's beautiful. She's absolutely beautiful.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Imagine if that was the plot twist. It's happened before. It's happened before. What, with a host? In The German Bachelor, yeah. Oh, really? On the finale, he gave it to the director. Shut up.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Sorry, that was aggressive. I mean, really? I'm like, is that true? On Brit's season, in the finale, the honey badger picked no one. Okay? He left empty-handed. Oh, that was yours? I was the one at the end.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Oh, really? Can you believe it? Can you believe that? Not good enough for the honey badger. Just shock. I had that option as well. Do you give someone a rose? Can you confirm?
Starting point is 00:10:21 I think you'll have to watch and see. Did you steal anything from the set? I have so much clothes. I was about to say the stylist was my best friend. Oh, really? Yeah. I stole so much clothes. I'll just let her know.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Bear, before we go, I'm just going to say a name. I have been watching this with a keen eye and I think I've picked who is the winner. I'm going to say her name. You can react in any way you like. But I think the winner of the 2025 Golden Bachelor is Jan. Jan is beautiful. I think Sunny.
Starting point is 00:10:53 I'm going to throw her in the ring. Sunny is beautiful. Sunny is absolutely beautiful. Okay. Well, Bear, thank you so much. Happy birthday. Enjoy the rest of the season. Thanks for having me.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Go home and have a wonderful night with Jen. And we will see you guys after the break. The Golden Bachelor returns tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9 now. That's Mondays and Tuesdays. I'm loving it, Bear. Farewell. Thank you so much. My pleasure.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Hey, how great was that talking to Bear? Does that take you back seven or eight years to when you were in the Batch Mansion? Look, I'll be honest. I wanted more from Bear. Oh, he's so PR-able. It was nice to see him in the flesh, but I just, I wanted to ragdoll him and go, Tell us everything. Do you reckon you pick somebody?
Starting point is 00:11:34 Like after speaking to him, what do you reckon? I reckon, okay, this is my hot take. Yeah. I think. This is going to get us into trouble. Producer Grace is eyeing us. I think he doesn't pick anyone and I do think that him and Sam, the host of the show, I think they have a thing.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Did you know his answer about Sam? That would be, I know, but I just thought he was playing into it. That would be more wild than the honey badger. I don't think, like when he was talking like that, I could see the publicists they were they were dying they were a little bit worried
Starting point is 00:12:04 you know what I think I'm going to take a different angle I think he does pick somebody I get what you mean about the Sam vibe he threw it in there we can't argue with it right he said he would have
Starting point is 00:12:13 given her a rose I wish I had an extra rose yeah which he did there's a whole rose garden there yeah like they were there I think he picked somebody
Starting point is 00:12:21 I don't reckon it works out that's what I'm calling and guys we don't have any insider goss we're just speculating but that's what I reckon yeah he didn't he wasn't oozing love
Starting point is 00:12:30 I couldn't smell the love on him today. All right, give us a bit of goss, Matt, because you asked him a question that everyone always wants to know, which is money, how much the bachelors get paid. And he gave us, obviously, a fake scenario. He said it was more than half a mil. Was it more than half a mil? I was like, God, I've got to go back and speak to my lawyers.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Yeah, how much did you get paid as the bachelor? Because they love a speculation, but we know it's not real. It wasn't a lot of money. I know what you are. And it was not a lot of money because when they were negotiating, They made it seem like there were two other guys who were going to get the job and they said, but here's the contract, here's the offer. If you try and negotiate, then you're out of the mix.
Starting point is 00:13:09 So you paid them. So it was under $30,000 to be the bachelor. It's insane to think that you could do it for so low. And I say so low, it's a lot of money. I didn't do it for the money, Britt. I did it because I wanted to fall in love. But it's also, when we were doing it, Like, so, Bear, he just filmed his season.
Starting point is 00:13:30 It's in, like, six weeks. We did it for a quarter of a year. It was, like, a bit over three months we were in that place. In a 12-year period, I did six months of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. It was a lot of TV. Yeah, you had half a year of your life. I know. Okay, the actual rose ceremonies, when you're giving out the roses,
Starting point is 00:13:48 how much choice do you actually have? And when I say that, obviously, you choose who you get to keep. But do you get to choose who goes home? because, like, when I say this, obviously you put forward five people that you want to send home. Do they ever say, no, you have to keep this person, they're good for TV or they're good for the storyline or...? They always say, like, it's up to you to make the final call,
Starting point is 00:14:08 but they do say, you know, hey, we are making a TV show here and it needs to be interesting and we think person A and person B, they're giving us a lot of spice and, you know, I would know that I'm not going to end up with them but we would give them a couple more weeks because they were making things interesting. But they would always say, like, if you are really, really unhappy and you do want to let him go, then you can – it's up to you.
Starting point is 00:14:30 But, you know, we would like you to walk down this path a little bit and if you're happy to come with us, then great. Yeah. I'm sorry. I've just thought of a memory. Go on. What do you got? That I've never told anyone.
Starting point is 00:14:43 So you guys might not know, but you have minders. So the bachelor or the bachelorette, they have a minder. It's literally a person that stays with you at all times to make sure you're not doing anything wrong that you shouldn't be or they keep you in line. And the contestants have minders as well. They stay in the house with you. They're always there if you need them.
Starting point is 00:15:00 But they're keeping an eye on you because when you go into the house, no TVs, no phones, no – I don't even think you're allowed to take a book in from memory, no technology. Like you are – it's like – what is it? Stockholm syndrome. You get put into this house. Anyway, I snuck in an iPod shuffle. So you were allowed to take iPods in that didn't have a screen or anything
Starting point is 00:15:20 and that just had music. Anyway, I snuck one in that had a secret camera on it and they didn't know. And I was just taking photos of the whole thing inside with my camera. And then one day I was out in the yard and no one was ever up early. And I was taking selfies with the llamas, me and the llamas.
Starting point is 00:15:39 And then I got called in by the minder. You got sprung. But she goes, do you have a camera here? Because it was still across a paddock, right? So she could just see the selfie arm. And she's like, what is this? Yeah, it's a dead giveaway, right? It's a giveaway.
Starting point is 00:15:50 I was like, what? How would I have a camera in here? She's like, Brittany, just tell me the truth. And I was like, absolutely not. I don't have a camera. She's like, but I saw you across the paddock taking selfies. And I just said that I was like, oh, I was like, no, I'm just going so crazy in here.
Starting point is 00:16:03 I'm just acting and pretending anyway. I love that she believed it. She did. Yeah. Okay. We all think it. I still have a selfie somewhere with the alpaca from the batch mansion. I was like, shit, I've got to be better at this.
Starting point is 00:16:15 So funny. And I think back to it and I'm like, she must have just been like, what? I've got an S-O-R, like a huge cat. Matt, I love an am I the a-hole, and you've got one today. Look, myself and my beautiful wife, Laura, who I love. I love more than anything. She is my soulmate. We'll be together forever.
Starting point is 00:16:35 But just because you love someone doesn't mean that you're not immune to having arguments. I think it's a normal, healthy part of any relationship. It's very healthy, except when you can't figure out who was in the right and who was in the wrong. That's what's happened between myself and Laura. And that is where I come in. So can I give you the context, Brittany?
Starting point is 00:16:53 And I want you to be honest here, okay? I want you to tell me if I need to apologise or if I should dig my heels in and make Laura apologise to me. Oh, God, this isn't going to end well for me, for those playing at home. She's also my business partner. Sorry to put you in this awkward position, but we didn't know who else to turn to. Okay, hit me.
Starting point is 00:17:12 What's happened? So let me also just mention the fact that when it comes to doing work around the house, given the fact that Laura is only a few weeks postpartum, I am doing the lion's share, okay? Oh, this is not going to end well. Great, Patricia Grace is already knowing where this is going. People in the studio right now are rolling their eyes. It's because there's three women.
Starting point is 00:17:33 When I walk around the house, if I spot any kind of work that needs doing, I just do it. No questions asked. Whether that's wiping down the kitchen bench, whether that's making the bed in the morning, whether it's unpacking the dishwasher. Brittany, I do it all. I really do.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Yeah, which should be a normal part of life anyway, but please go on. I'm trying to make life for my beautiful wife just a little bit easier. But as I was doing one particular type of cleaning job, it's really fired Laura up. Okay, I was doing the laundry. And in the laundry basket,
Starting point is 00:18:06 the main thing that I look out for is just separating the colours and the whites. Yeah, that's a brilliant start. Thank you so much. Okay, so I did a load of washing, put it all in there, made sure in that pile, good. It's just there's no white, it's all colours, great. Got to put it on a normal wash.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I've opened up the washing machine post-wash and I've pulled out the items to then put it on the line and I've noticed I've made a huge mistake. You snuck a little blue sock or something in. No, Brittany, there was a jumper. A little fluff. There was a jumper. I don't know the exact material. I'm not that clever, but it has shrunk.
Starting point is 00:18:44 in the wash okay it's one of laura's brand new jumpers it's a blue jumper do i say it's cashmere does that make sense why was the blue in with the whites let's forget the material it was colors colors in the wash the jumper is now a quarter of the size okay and i put it on the line and i said oh i'm racing out the door i'm gonna tackle that and you know let laura know what's happened i come home she's holding the jumper and she goes what have you done here and i go look the jumper is shrunk. And she goes, but this jumper can't go in the wash. Okay. And I'm like, but I don't individually go through each item and look at the washing instructions. If it's in that washing basket, I will just wash it. Oh, this is so hard. And I can't believe I'm going to say this.
Starting point is 00:19:30 I think I could be on your side. Yes. And I hate myself for that. But you know why? You're both in the right. For you, you're trying to help you. I probably also wouldn't look at every single tag, like if I was doing my husband's and my washing, I would just throw it in. I think if it's all in the same basket, it means it can be washed. Okay. So, but then having said that, I could go on the other side of the fence and be on Laura's side.
Starting point is 00:19:56 I don't want a fence sitter, Britt. I want someone who's going to take action. Who's in the right? Who's in the wrong? I think that Laura should have, I hate I'm doing this. I think that if something 100% can't be washed with other things, you guys probably need to work out a system where it goes into another pile. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Producer Grace? Yeah, if it's not safe for washing machine, don't put it on. Oh, my God. I feel really bad. We just dogged her. I feel really bad. But it's the truth. Can we call Laura, please?
Starting point is 00:20:19 No, she'll hear it. She'll hear it. Oh, my gosh. I can't believe you're on my side. This may be the best day of my life. Because believe it or not, Matt, we like you. We're not always against you. If I don't believe in something you've said, I will let you know.
Starting point is 00:20:32 But if I think that you're right, I'll also let you know. And I think in this one, it's you. Oh, my God. Laura is going to be thrilled when I come home with this news. Are you getting divorced and I'm getting fired? Thank you so much. If you guys have a spare bedroom, please let me know. Hey, what's the outcome?
Starting point is 00:20:45 Have you guys talked about it? Are you still not talking? Well, I'm going to call her on the way home and be like, I'm sorry, pal, but you're in the wrong. Apologise to me. I'm the victim here. I deserve better. Let's just play it cool.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I don't think we need to drag it on, but I think when you go home. Grace and Brittany both said, Laura, that you're a bad mum. No. That. And a bad wife. Batty Jane. Am I right, ladies? Stop it.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Who's with me? No. We march at dawn. Hey, we absolutely didn't say that. We love you, Laura. We miss you. I really miss you. Please come back soon.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Matt, I do not know what my algorithm is right now, but I'm getting served some unusual things. It's that time of the month I'm getting pulled into like the really emotional videos and obviously I've been clicking on them a lot and I just keep getting served them. And it knows you like it, so it's like give her more. Yeah. I love a video on social media that makes me cry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Yeah, well, this was a really beautiful moment and it really took my breath away. I like to watch when people in the army come back and get reunited with their family. That's my, like, secret kind of videos I like to watch. Okay, so maybe we have the same algorithm because what I'm about to show you is something pretty similar. I stumbled across this account and it's called Prisoners Reunited.
Starting point is 00:21:58 So the bio... Oh, that's niche. So niche that they, like, double down in the bio. So it says, prisoner reunions. We only post prisoner reunions. And then they triple down and they say, that's it. And I was like, sure, I'll watch that. I'm kind of into that.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Yeah, I was like, let's see what happens. Anyway, I want you to play the video because my breath was taken away and I just want you to experience the same thing. Have a look. I'm ready for this. If I cry, I apologize in advance. A little bit emotional. If I laugh, I apologize.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Okay, here we go. What the hell? Oh, my God. Oh, that's actually really sweet. They haven't seen each other in so long. Yes. Tell me when you see her. Oh, she's at work.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I love the shocked look on her face. Oh, that first embrace. Watching her. Oh, my God. It's the video from I'm a Celebrity where I get reunited with my family. Somehow they have ripped your video from your family reunited moment on I'm a Celebrity and you are on a prisoner page that you have been
Starting point is 00:23:10 in prison and you're just reunited with Laura. Do you think it's the beard? Is the beard? I look quite rugged, don't I? I look like I could rob a bank. You were sobbing like a baby. I'm not sure that screams badass prisoner. But I think it might be the red shirt.
Starting point is 00:23:24 I don't know. You've got like the red celeb shirt on but you've got your name on it. We're in the jungle. No, look. They've edited it really well. They've done, like, real close-ups so you can't see where you are. Do I say something? Is it good for brand?
Starting point is 00:23:36 I don't think that's good for your brand. Like, you're going viral as a prisoner that's just gotten out of jail. I could do with some American followers, if I'm honest. Do I leave it? Should I leave it? What would Maddie J be in prison for, do you reckon, Grace? Like, what? I don't.
Starting point is 00:23:49 You're just the last person I'd see in prison. Maybe something like a white-collar crime, something boring. No. No, it'd be for some kind of, like, public indecency prank. Like, he'd be filming a video or something where he's butts out and it'd be at the president and Donald Trump would be like, you go to prison. I feel like that's what it'd be.
Starting point is 00:24:06 I'm just annoyed I didn't get a standalone moment. It's a montage video. I'm like, was it not good enough to be that on its own? Well, thanks very much, guys. It was a montage, but you're in the first half. Enough that I played it all the way through. I was, like, really hooked on the reunions. I still don't know if I'm offended or if I'm honoured.
Starting point is 00:24:20 But you know what? It's like, you just can't believe anything on the internet. I know we say that, but there are so many people around the world now that think that you're a prisoner. And, like, the kids, like, the little kids run up and, like, now Lola and Marley's dad's a prisoner. It's a whole thing. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:36 How do you feel? Like, it's an emotional video. And I think, you know, don't get caught up in the details. It doesn't matter who's going to share it. A reshare's a reshare, guys. How many followers do they have, Prisoners Reunited? Oh, they actually have 35,000. Oh, that's it?
Starting point is 00:24:53 Oh, I thought it was going to be like two million. Take it down. Apparently watching Prisoners Reunite isn't as popular as I thought it would be. But, yeah, they're growing exponentially. Oh, okay. Give them a tap. Go give them a follow.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Thanks, guys. Brittany, I would like to know, have you ever, this could be recently, could be when you were younger, have you ever had an imaginary friend? You know, none spring to mind. I definitely had real friends. I don't know. Yeah, well, I'd hope so.
Starting point is 00:25:22 But I didn't myself. I never had an imaginary friend. Grace. Producer Grace, did you have an imaginary friend? Oh, you would have for sure. You would have. You would have been playing Sudoku on a train with your imaginary friend. That makes me sound so sad.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Well, actually, let me rephrase that. How many imaginary friends did you have? Only the one that kind of stuck around for a bit. And she wasn't quite. Stuck around? Like it was her choice? She wasn't quite an imaginary friend. She was a fairy that I found in the garden.
Starting point is 00:25:50 And I remember being like. eight or nine which is maybe too old for that and I took her in for show and tell at school so hang on like you actually found a like a little statue I thought I found no no no I found hey Brett she actually found it it was invisible you couldn't see her but I could feel her breathing on my shoulder which is oddly specific like the breath is as a parent okay sorry sorry sorry I took her into show and tell and I was like guys you can't see her but I can feel her and I think, yeah, I was a bit of a loner at school. And that's how Grace got on to Prisoners Reunited.
Starting point is 00:26:27 That's a beautiful story. Thanks. That's lovely. Sorry, can we stick to this for a bit? What made her leave? Like she stuck around for a bit. When was it time to fly on? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I think she just kind of faded away. Okay, actually, Grace. Yeah. I need your advice on what I should do in this situation because recently, only a couple of days ago, Marley has an imaginary friend. Halloween is currently on and she's like, there's a ghost, Dad. There's a ghost that comes with us now.
Starting point is 00:26:54 I was riding home from school on the bike and she's like, Boo is the name of the ghost, original. How did she think of that one? Come on, Marley. And I was on the bike and I was like, okay, Boo's here, sure. We got home and she's like, oh, you've got to make sure you open the door so Boo can come inside. And then when it came to dinner time, she's like,
Starting point is 00:27:11 can you please serve up some for Boo because she's really hungry. We've got four seats at the table. And she's like, Boo would like to have a seat there. And I was like, okay, I'll play along with it. And then when it came time for then reading a story at bedtime, she put a chair out for Boo. And I was like, oh, no, come on. That's a bit silly.
Starting point is 00:27:26 And she was like, what's silly? And I was like, there's no Boo. And she was like, how dare you in front of Boo say that she's not real. And then Lola, my youngest, sat on the chair and Marley was crying because she's like, you've squished Boo. Boo is being hurt right now. And so now Boo, I had to bring her to work because Marley's like, I can't bring her to school, so you're going to have to bring her to work.
Starting point is 00:27:48 So Boo's in the room with us right now. I didn't want to say anything, but I have been looking at her the whole time. Do I keep pretending or do I just let it take its course? All right, I'm going to take this one, Grace, for a second. No, go for it. And then I'd love to hear what you say. As somebody who sees ghosts, maybe it's not make-believe. You see ghosts?
Starting point is 00:28:07 Yeah. Oh, my God. Come on, guys. Oh, I can get them. You're laughing at Grace for having an imaginary fairy and you see ghosts? You know, it's funny because I forget, like, Laura and I have spoken about it over the years so many times
Starting point is 00:28:19 and I forget that you don't know the backstory. Yeah, I have. I don't see them all the time. I reckon I've seen unequivocally five ghosts. Oh, my God. I am doing this radio show with a bunch of loonies. Get me out of here. So I would say firstly, firstly, maybe it's not make-believe,
Starting point is 00:28:33 but I am going to say the fairies. What would you say, Grace? I'm obviously not a parent, but there's a lot of, like, monotony about being a parent. Like, you've got to do the same task over and over again. I say lean into it. How often do you get to read a story to a ghost? It's just more work.
Starting point is 00:28:46 I do it all the time. Britt, question for you. Do you have any baby names that are currently marinating? No. None at all? No, because I don't have kids. I'm not sure if I want them. And I've got frozen babies.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Like, I've got babies on ice. Okay, so for those babies, do you have any, like, boy or girl names that if you go decide to have little ones that you may use? I have one. I'm not telling it. You can't, okay. No, I've got to save it because I've only got the one. I can't make it go viral.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Can you give me the first letter? G, and that's for a boy and a girl. Oh, Greg. Yeah, how do you know? Oh, very good. Okay, well, naming a child is actually very, very stressful. If there's anyone out there who doesn't have kids, they're thinking about kids, let me just give you some advice.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Start putting together a list right now because I can guarantee there's going to be arguments between you and your partner about what names to pick. Laura and I... Where are you going? You regret calling Poppy, Poppy? No, I love Poppy, but it was just really hard to get there. It was a long journey to land on Poppy.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Laura and myself, we had many late-night disagreements where we couldn't agree on the name, but there is good news because I have here, this is thanks to Nameberry, they have narrowed down some of the best baby name trends that are going to be massive for 2026. So I am here to help you, Brit, if you decide to have kids, as well as any parents out there who are thinking about having their first or another child.
Starting point is 00:30:16 I'm not going to lie. I'm not about it. I'm not feeling these names. I'm not feeling the trends. I've never been one for trends. Okay. Well, maybe you're not into this, but for any listeners, let me just start off and say that showgirl names, okay,
Starting point is 00:30:27 I'm talking about like inspiration from Taylor's new album, The Life of a Showgirl. These are going to be really big. Names like Roxy, Solana, Marilyn, Elodie. Ophelia. Beautiful. There we go. No, it's not for me.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Your eyes lit up. I was just thinking of Taylor Swift's album, which I love. Look, I get that. Taylor Swift is a trendsetter. You know what I don't get? Apparently boomer names. Grandpa names are out and boomer names are in. So think like Bruce, Beverly, Lenny, Nancy, Rex, Ronald,
Starting point is 00:30:57 like the names that are old but not grandpa old. Oh, I'm not calling a kid Ronald. I feel Bruce is like, imagine, can you imagine a baby Bruce? Bruce is also like a bulldog. Like Bruce gives like bulldog, you know? It does. But Lenny's in there. Poor Lenny.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Lenny's a cool name. No, Lenny's cute. I like Lenny. Lenny's been hard done by here. No, I'm letting Lenny slide in. But what about like number names? Apparently number names are making a huge comeback. Give me an example.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Eleven. Seven. Six, five, four, three, one. Seven. Eleven's from Stranger Things. I don't know what Eleven's from. Producer Grace? You know why?
Starting point is 00:31:36 No, jury's out on that one. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, they had Rocky 13. So I feel like people are adding the... That's a shocking name. Is it? Yeah. Would you have gone with Rocky 11? No, that's, again, dog name.
Starting point is 00:31:50 We can't get confused here, people. Naming pets and naming a human, don't get them mixed up. But anime names. I don't know if you're a fan of K-pop Demon Hunters. It's not big in my household. It's just me and my dog in my household. It's very, very catchy. I fought it.
Starting point is 00:32:04 I didn't like it when I first watched it, but I am obsessed. But that is going to have a huge influence on names for 2026, like Aura, Kaya, Kiro, Mira. Mira, she's an absolute weapon on K-pop Demon Hunters. Isn't that the most popular show in the world right now? You don't want to name your kid after the most popular show in the world because then every kid's going to be named after that, right? But where do you go because you don't want Bruce either?
Starting point is 00:32:27 What's the happy medium? Seven. Okay, well, let me have one more guess. The name that you currently have marinating there starts with G. It's applicable for a boy and a girl. Yeah. And it's because my husband, Ben, really likes it as well. Is it a German name?
Starting point is 00:32:44 Gertrude? No. Wrong. Jeff? Geraldine? No. Do you think that that's what I would be naming my kid? Shout out to Geraldine.
Starting point is 00:32:53 You're never going to guess it and I'm never going to tell you. I just cannot risk Australia calling their kid this name and then I can never use it. I have to keep it a secret. Sure. If in three years I don't have a baby, I'll tell you. I know you'll be on the interview soon. Well, I hope this has helped.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Maybe not yourself, Britt, but I hope this has helped some parents out there for next year. You're welcome.
