Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode is recorded on Gavigal land of the Aurora Nation. Hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Laura. I'm Brittany. I'm Mitch. And this is our radio show, The Pickup, where we package up all the best bits from the week and we bring them to you here. So official. Yeah, so that you don't have to listen to the radio if you don't. Laura, I can't tell if you're trying to promote the radio, the pod, or anti-promote the radio or the pod. I don't know what is going on. Who knows? Anyway, it's a very big show this week because we had Brittany's very best friend he wasn't well yeah very best friend Callum Hall the big Welshman the beautiful Welshman he's like a Ken Barbie doll that I was in I'm a Celebrity
Starting point is 00:00:38 Get Me Out of Here Jungle with I felt very um I didn't know what to do with the paper so we have like prep sheets right that has questions and a bit of information about the guests that we have coming in like we have those printed out for us and Grace who is our producer for the pickup she'd printed out a prep sheet but then she'd put a picture of him with no shirt on as like the main picture on the top of the prep sheet oh i just showed him and it was just him looking slightly oiled up with like massive pecs huge pecs he callum is if you don't know who he is he's reality tv gold like he is made for reality tv he's big he's a partier he's unhinged he's funny he's quirky he's just like he's brilliant to watch and he was so great to be in the jungle with but we are speaking
Starting point is 00:01:21 to him because he is on a new reality show he's on aussie shore which is like our australian version of Geordie Shore. Yeah, it's supposed to be unhinged. It's a good chat. It's a good chat. Yeah. Sorry, my microphone just slipped. Did you hear that?
Starting point is 00:01:31 Sorry, everyone. Also on the show this week, I had a really mortifying moment with someone. You know when you're talking to, you know, a friend or someone you've just met and they've got food in their teeth or on their face? You actually have food in your teeth now. Do I? Yeah, on the bottom. You do?
Starting point is 00:01:45 Yeah. Is it a carrot or almond? It's an entire carrot. Thanks for telling me. I pointed out some food on someone's face. Turns out it wasn't food. It was something far worse. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:01:54 It was mortifying. Yeah. Well, look, speaking of mortifying moments, I shared some really highbrow content on the radio this week. You know, it's really hard to get a job in radio and every so often I, like, feel so privileged. I get these moments to talk about big life events and so I decided to use my time to talk about how I went into a shop recently
Starting point is 00:02:13 and the shop assistant farted. We both knew that she had. She knew she had. I knew she had. And I don't know how you navigate that situation, okay? What do you do? Do you acknowledge it? Do you chat to her about it?
Starting point is 00:02:23 Don't ask us. We didn't have much to offer. Find out how to navigate farting in public on the pick up. She did it. Have you experienced a public fart? She did it. We know. And she pretended like she did it.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Hey, guys, if you've ever farted, call up. Call on the show. Girls, you don't know this story. I've been saving it to tell you on the air because I will only ever tell it once because the embarrassment that exudes from my pores when I speak into existence what happened to me on the weekend is too much to handle. You don't have to tell it. Like, it's okay to keep some things to yourself.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Nah, tell it. Yeah, I think otherwise it's going to be a boring show. I was at lunch. A friend of mine had her 30th birthday and there was a bunch of people there. It was a birthday party. And I was talking to this woman at length for like a good 45 minutes. You know when you're really locking with someone, you connect at a party and you kind of stand there next to the cheese board, you're pumping cheese,
Starting point is 00:03:10 you're taking drinks, you're talking and you're like, I like this person. It's called a conversation. Yeah, it is. Yeah, yeah, but a good one, you know. And I felt a connection with this woman. And then she goes, you know, I'm going to go outside into the sun. And I'm like, okay, well, you head out. But the whole time we were talking, I noticed she had some cheese on her chin and it looked
Starting point is 00:03:26 like maybe like a, I don't know, like a little slither of an almond or like it was like long and narrow. And I was like, oh, it's a bit of cheese or a bit of like, I don't know, cracker. Like it was skin colour. It's so distracting when you're talking to someone and you know they've got something on their face because you're trying to, I mean, we've had this discussion before. I never tell people. You're trying to bide your time as in like, should I tell them now?
Starting point is 00:03:44 Should I interrupt their stories to say, hey, sorry, you've got something on your face? Yeah, well, I didn't. I let it go. And then she said, I'm going to go out. And I thought, well, she'll be in the direct sunlight. You know, this is going to be blaring on her face. I don't want someone else to be like, oh, you've got food on your face, you weirdo.
Starting point is 00:03:55 So I went, hey, before you go, you've got something on your chin. And she went, oh, do I? I went, yeah, you've got some food on your chin. I've got your girlfriend, you know, like, you know, gay man, woman. I'm like, yeah. I'm here for you. Yeah, I've got your back. I'll protect you, you know.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I've got your chin. Yeah. So she kind of dabs her chin and then it doesn't come off. And I'm like, oh, no, just down a bit. and then she rubs her chin again and she kind of rubs over the food and then it kind of flicks back into position. Like, you know those old school door stops on old vintage grandparents? That boing.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Boing. Or like a Mickey Mouse's tail. It was like do-yo-yo. It was like flapping in the wind. And I was like, oh, it's stuck. So I leaned in and I went, do you mind if I grab it? So I lean in. Stop it now.
Starting point is 00:04:34 I don't need to hear the end. Stop it. I'm uncomfortable. Please stop. Make it stop. I lean in because I'm like, girlfriend, I'll grab it. Yeah, grab it. Get it off me, babe.
Starting point is 00:04:42 It's a piece of brie. I lean in, I grab it, and I kind of pull, and I go, oh, that's attached. Oh, my God. Stop it. It was a skin tag on her chin, and I pulled it, and she kind of had a head jerk. Oh, oh, oh, no, I got the food. Don't worry, I got the food.
Starting point is 00:04:58 It was just Nick. It was on the skin tag. It was on the skin tag. Mitch. And she went, thanks, babe. See you outside. Did she know? She knew because she's got an inflamed skin tag.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Actually, if it makes you feel better, I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I did the same thing not that long ago. To the same woman? It was a mole. No, it was a mole. Oh, no. And I thought it was like a bit of chocolate or I don't know. Guys, this is why you don't have to, okay?
Starting point is 00:05:26 I know. You do have to. You don't have to tell people when they have things on their face. Yes, you do. You do. It's okay to let people just live their life with a bit of a sliver of an almond or a skin tag. No, it's not, Laura.
Starting point is 00:05:37 You just have to be. You just have to check more if it's a skin tag or not. Yeah, just don't play bop it with it. Blinking it. Wow, it's really stuck on there. I'm just going to really cut it off here. I'm like, anyone got a cauterization tool? This woman's got some brie on her face.
Starting point is 00:05:49 She's got a butter knife. Anyone got dry eyes? It's like the times when you try and do a good thing and it backfires. Don't you remember when I was really, really sick, Mitch, and you were like, I'm going to come over and be like a really super great friend and I'm going to bring you some juice and some vitamins. And I was like, bless. Yeah, it was really nice.
Starting point is 00:06:06 You came over and bought the juice. But then while you were even giving me the juice, you got a parking fine for like $300, remember? I did. I thought I was helping Britt and I parked. And, yeah, $340 I got fined just for giving Britt a juice. Maybe you should stop doing nice things, Mitch. No.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Be worse. Just park in a proper park. Maybe just think, I think, is the lesson here. I need to start thinking. All right. Well, look, usually we talk about really highbrow stuff on this show. Since when? We talk about facts.
Starting point is 00:06:32 We talk about what's happening in the news, all the hard-hitting stuff. And I want to talk about something that's particularly lowbrow. I want to talk about the etiquette of what do you do when somebody who you don't know that well farts around you? Yeah, look, I know that that sounds outrageous, but hear me out. So the other day I went into the supermarket and I was in witchery. So I'm standing in the store and I am the only person in the store, right? And I am being held by a really lovely sales assistant. She is so nice. We're having a chat and then all of a sudden she audibly farts in the middle of conversation. Farts. It's so funny to me. It was unbelievable to me. Not only does it, it's not a
Starting point is 00:07:13 quiet one. It's not a smellless one. And she just steamrolls through, pretends like it hasn't happened. Keeps talking, keeps serving, keeps standing within a close vicinity of me. And I had to back away. But I also was like, is this not a situation where at least one person should acknowledge the elephant in the room? Let's say it was an accident. She didn't mean to let one one-on-one while she was serving you. It was an accident. She's not like, I'm going to get this girl. I think the rules are, the rules of engagement. If there's more than one person, so if it's more than one-on-one and it's a group situation, then you of course deflect the blame onto someone else. But if it is just two people in a situation where you know it's not you,
Starting point is 00:07:55 they know it's them, I think you have to own it, but you just have to be like, oh, sorry, excuse me, and then continue on. Or you at least have to be like, have you seen what's over here on the other side of the store so that you walk away from the waft of stink. But what is so embarrassing about claiming a fart? Everyone does it, but there is something so mortifying about going, yeah, that's mine. You know, because the smell kind of diagnoses your level of health.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Like if it's really rancid. It was so bad. You'd be like, you are deathly ill. That's not true. But if it's kind of clean, I'd be like, yeah, that was mine, that one that kind of smells of vanilla. That's me. No, that's not true because one of the smelliest farts,
Starting point is 00:08:31 I will tell you, it's called a protein fart. When you consume too much protein, and protein is healthy, it's protein shakes, lots of chicken or meats or whatever, they're called protein farts and everyone knows that they stink. But that means you're healthy. Maybe she was ill. No, the problem is, is that like I was so embarrassed for her that I withstood it.
Starting point is 00:08:50 So I didn't walk away. I didn't make it. I just stood there and continued on having the conversation with her like nothing had happened, like I didn't notice. And I was like, why am I subjecting myself to this to be polite? Because you care about her feelings. She was mortified. She didn't care about mine.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Yeah, it was an accident. Laura, she might have had incontinence or IBS or something. You don't know what's wrong with her. Well, but now I'm a bad person, guys. Yeah, you are. You should have sat in that fart. Can I just say, is it just me or is it worse to smell someone's fart that you don't know than like a friend's fart?
Starting point is 00:09:24 Yeah, so much worse. Like if you farted and it was gross, I'd be like, Laura, are feral. But if Joe Blow on the street farted, I'd be like, I'm going to hit you with my car. Yeah, it's always more disgusting. It's like, I don't know your microbiome. I don't know what's going on in your gut, but I know your gut. You know, like it just, it's gross when it's a mysterious fart. Yeah. I'm glad that we've unpacked this so far.
Starting point is 00:09:42 An unidentified anonymous fart. Fart hunters. Sorry, did you just call us the fart hunters? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like ghost hunters. If we, we did a blind fart smell test. I could, I could pick yours. Now, I could smell Laura's in a heartbeat and I could smell Britt's. No, you couldn't. Yes, I could.
Starting point is 00:09:59 It would smell a HelloFresh and protein. And who doesn't protein? Laura's the smell of apple slices and whatever her kids didn't want to eat on their dinner table. Oh, Producer Grace has written in, I'm vetoing this instantly. She wants us to stop. We're not making a break out of farting. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:10:17 So we're not coming back with like everyone guessing. No, okay. What if we farted in a box and then the audience came in and guess if it was Brit Mitchell or Laura, and they get $500. Guys, I can't pass wind on demand. I don't know about you, but you can't be like, time for the fart break. Everyone let one rip.
Starting point is 00:10:32 It doesn't work like that. Just wait until you're a bit older, Brit. I'm like a vending machine. Laura, we're the same age. You've got six months older than me. Things are looser downstairs after having two kids. I reckon I could on time. Well, out of your butthole.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Don't you blame your fart, rancid farts on having kids. Your butthole is fine. I feel like it's that time of year again at the end of the year where everyone comes out of the woodworks and talks about their worst dates. Like, it's like the year where everyone reflects back and they're like, you know what, I'm swearing off dating, I'm going single.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Yeah, I mean, it never gets easier, does it? But there are these internet threads going bonkers where people have been writing in their dates and they're so cooked. Yeah. Have a listen to one of these. She told him she was a vegan and he took her out to a steakhouse intentionally.
Starting point is 00:11:15 When she said, hey, I'm a vegan, can we go somewhere else? He said, nah, a bit of meat will do you good. Oh, my God. So ridiculous. But I think there was an innuendo there. But if you're a vegan, you get invited. Oh, I didn't think about that. Yeah, but she also would still have to eat steak,
Starting point is 00:11:27 so he was still a prick. But if you're a vegan, why did you even go? Like, just say no. Why did you say yes to the date? I went on a date once when I was single. This was years ago when I first came out. It was one of my first, like, guy dates. And I was dating this guy, and we were on the, like,
Starting point is 00:11:39 open car park rooftop, and he was shivering. Like, I'm talking, like, shivering. And I wanted to get a look over the city to make a move to kiss him. And we're looking over the city, like, you know, Mufasa and Simba, and I like put my arm around him and he was hypothermic. He was shaking and cold to the touch, corpse-like. And I was like, you're really cold. And he's like, please go back to the car.
Starting point is 00:11:58 And I was like, what's wrong? Is everything all right? And he went, I've got scoliosis. I've got a metal beam through my spine. Oh, he was so, he was literally freezing from the inside out. He's got a metal pole through his body. He's half cyborg. He froze.
Starting point is 00:12:09 He's not half cyborg. Let him. Do you know, I went on a date once where the guy, it was literally a lunch date. I'm talking sandwich and a smoothie. and the guy made me go and get $20 cash from an ATM to give it to him. Yeah, you've said that.
Starting point is 00:12:21 It's insane. I also went on a dinner date. He invited me to dinner. Then he didn't eat, didn't drink, and then I paid for it. There's a lot of flogs out there. I went on a date once and I left to go to the, we were at his house and I went, first date though, and it was, he, look, it sounds bad,
Starting point is 00:12:35 but he said it was just for dessert and that's what I thought it was. Anyway, I went to the bathroom and I came back out and he was completely stark naked and there he was with two apple pies and it was not what I wanted at all. He was the dessert. Were there actual apple pies?
Starting point is 00:12:49 Yeah, but he had it on him. Anyway, it's fine. Jesus, that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Annie's called us. I was just reminded you of a horror date story. What happened to you? Yeah, I don't know if it's much of a date. It's definitely unique.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, what is it? I was on holidays and I met this guy and he's working his part-time summer job hiring out kayaks and paddle boards on the side of the river and we hit it off and we decided to go for a little bit of a paddle downstream, we inevitably started getting it on on the riverbank. On the canoe. What a nice date.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I know, so romantic. And thankfully for me, it didn't last very long because as we wrapped up, he proceeds to let me know that this whole time there has been a brown snake under my head. Oh, my God. And he didn't tell you? And he didn't stop. Not until he was done.
Starting point is 00:13:44 That is so selfish. He was very focused. I can imagine. They can kill you. What a hideous man. That's shocking. Yeah, they can. Yeah, they can.
Starting point is 00:13:53 There was two snakes there, wasn't there? There was. I'm being told apparently we have your husband, Laura Maddy J, who's been listening. He's dated a lot of women. He's called the show. Hi, Maddy. Hope he's not still dating.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Hi, honey. Hello, guys. How are we? So, well, this is when I lived in London. I lived in London for four years, just in case anyone was wondering. And I was on a first date. I met this girl on Tinder. We met at the pub and I thought the date was going really well.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Like she was super chatty, super sociable. We were having great conversation. The only weird thing was she just kept going to the bathroom, but not just once, not twice, would go to the bathroom quite frequently in between drinks. And then I realized that she was actually indulging in, how can I say, the devil's dandruff, if you know what I mean. The devil's dandruff.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I know what you mean. She was having her own party. Yeah, we get it. We get it. A couple of nose beers. And then eventually after a little while, she was like, look, she owned up to it and said, do you want some? I can give it to you.
Starting point is 00:14:49 Go to the bathroom. And I was like, no, I'm okay. You know, it's a Tuesday night and I think I'll pass. And then she took that really badly. So she even announced on like the top of her lungs to the entire bar going, oh, great, so my date's going to judge me because I'm doing this. He thinks he's better than me. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:15:08 And then started attacking me. And then after a little while, I kind of tried to calm down the situation. I said to her, I think it's best if I leave. And then once again, she stood up at the top of her voice in front of everyone in this busy bar in London saying like, well, look at me now. Who's an idiot? My date's walking out of me.
Starting point is 00:15:26 That makes me feel really good. Thanks a lot. Thanks a lot for a great first date. How do you feel, Matt, that like someone needed that much help to get through a date with you? now you guys call up with your biggest your deepest your darkest dilemmas and we do our best to answer them and we have liz on the phone today now this is possibly one of the craziest ask uncuts we've had in a long time liz has uncovered a family secret and she doesn't know
Starting point is 00:16:00 whether or not she should tell her brother now this is a family secret of over 50 years Liz, welcome to the show. Hi, Liz. Hi, how are you? Hi, we're so good. Liz, what is the secret? Oh my gosh, okay, so in a nutshell, my mum passed away about four months ago and I started going through her belongings and I came across her diary. I didn't even know my mum had a diary, but in the diary she writes that my younger brother, who's two years younger than me, is actually not my father's biological son, but my father's best friend's son. Oh, Liz.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Oh, shit. Is your biological dad still alive or has he also passed away? No, no, he's passed. So both my mum and dad now passed, but my dad's best friend, we used to call Uncle Jack. It was just, you know, back in that time, if it was a good friend of your parents, you called them Uncle. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:54 So he grew up with us kids. We loved him. He's still alive. He's 85. and he's still very close to my brother. They have a great relationship, only they don't know that they're father and son. But are you sure Uncle Jack doesn't know?
Starting point is 00:17:12 Well, I can't be sure because I haven't spilled the secret yet. Wow. What was the relationship like with your dad and your brother? Because I think like... Not good. Oh, so they've had a bad relationship. So maybe your dad knew. Yeah, my father was an alcoholic, so he was quite abusive
Starting point is 00:17:27 and we were never very close to him. You know, Liz, when we were first talking about this, I thought, you know, I would keep that secret to the grave. I was like, it's not worth the drama. But if your brother has a really bad relationship or has really, you know, bad memories of your dad and he has a great relationship with Uncle Jack, maybe it's something that's worth sitting down and saying.
Starting point is 00:17:49 It's not like you've held onto this secret and you've been lying to him. You've only just uncovered it yourself. I mean, you know your brother better than anyone. How do you think he's going to respond? Like, is that what you're scared about? No. Look, I think he might actually sort of, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:18:04 sort of thought, no wonder I felt so close to him. No wonder we have a lot in common. But this man's got children that are our age. So what are the repercussions for them also? Like, my mind is like a bouncy ball. Wait, is he still married as well? Like, was Uncle Jack also married at the time? Was there an affair?
Starting point is 00:18:20 His wife passed. But was there an affair that went on back then? Oh, between him and my mother, for sure. I also think don't burden yourself with this, Liz. I mean, just because you've read it doesn't mean that you're going to be the one that has to live with this secret. Like, get it off your chest, I feel. Like, it's going to eat you up unless you spend a lot of money in therapy
Starting point is 00:18:39 to kind of suppress this. You know what I think? Oh, it's so hard. I think tell him, not the dad, and let your brother decide what he wants to do with it. Yeah, I agree with you. Because they might not want to tell the other kids. He might not want to tell his dad.
Starting point is 00:18:52 He might want to continue on as he is. And I think the longer you keep it a secret is the harder it's going to be for your brother because he'll be like, why have you sat on this for so long? Yeah. I'm with you, Brie. I'm team tell the brother. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Was your mum dramatic with this? Like, did she leave it on a note on a dresser, like, you know, open on the page that she wanted you to read? Read here. Yeah, read here. Sell it to Netflix. It'll go gangbusters. Like, or do you think she wanted you to know?
Starting point is 00:19:15 Well, I mean, her diary was with her belongings and she must have thought one day I'm going to go through them. Yeah. Liz, can you do me a solid favour? Would you let us know how it goes down? Like, would you call us back if you decide to tell him? Yes. Because we'd love that.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Well, I have to tell him. It's just after my mum passed, my brother took off to Bali for three months. So I haven't been – I can't – and then I found the diary after. Wow. So I've known this for about three months, but there's nothing I can do until my brother gets back. He's back this week. Okay, so next week we want the phone call.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Good luck. Yeah. Oh, Liz, that's a tricky one. Good luck with that. Tell you what, I can smell a good scent in the room with this now. Is it this fake tan? Maybe it's, yeah, I think it's Bondi Sands. Smells like coconuts, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:20:00 And body oil. Yeah, in the studio with us now is the star of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. And now the last final episode. What do you mean the star? I was also on it. One of the stars of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. And now in the final episodes of Aussie Shore,
Starting point is 00:20:12 the new take on Geordie Shore, it is the one and only Callum Hall. Hello, Callum. Hello, everyone. Thank you for having me. Hello. Callum, it's nice to see you again. I feel like, I mean, I didn't know you before I'm a celeb and I feel like that's when Australia really stood up
Starting point is 00:20:25 and took notice and fell in love with you collectively. First of all, have you missed me? Yes. Okay, secondly, what have you been up to since The Jungle? Oh, life's just been absolutely bonkers since the show. I've been literally here, there, everywhere, mainly preparing for next year and getting shows in the works for next year.
Starting point is 00:20:45 But in between that, like club appearances, bingo nights, like meet and greets. Bingo? what do you mean like a retirement home it's a madness yeah because I'm not used to it
Starting point is 00:20:53 like from my first TV shows Love Island I had like one demographic and I was just like young birds right so I would do PAs at like clubs and stuff like that
Starting point is 00:21:01 restaurants or whatever but now since the jungle I've got like kids I've got grannies I've got everyone that wants to do like meet and greets and stuff
Starting point is 00:21:08 and I just thought the best way to meet all these grannies is bingo nights how do you meet a granny like how does that work oh well I don't know like my interactions
Starting point is 00:21:15 are so random now like I could be getting flowers or it could be in a bakery and it could be like an old Doris there that's in her 70s like oh I know you
Starting point is 00:21:22 you're the rat guy you know what I mean like just things like that you know so I just sort of capitalize on it and do like the meet and greets and stuff
Starting point is 00:21:28 yeah so every weekend I'm in usually different cities and stuff doing that sort of stuff yeah how old would you date up I say this because I recently read an article
Starting point is 00:21:36 about these grannies from the UK that are going to all these different islands to date down they're dating really really young guys so now that you've got
Starting point is 00:21:43 this new fan base like what's your age limit for dating up my age limit is like probably 10 years I'd probably go 10 years above I probably wouldn't go any older Callum that's not even my age
Starting point is 00:21:50 you wouldn't even date me oh I would date you actually you don't have to be offended by that Brandon because 10 years up from Callum's only 37
Starting point is 00:21:57 wait I did read the articles at the time when you were in the jungle because the two of you guys obviously were in there for quite a while and there was this like series of articles
Starting point is 00:22:04 that came out which was like Callum's ideal woman is Brittany Hockley and I think we need to put the rumours to bed everyone is that the truth or
Starting point is 00:22:12 where did that come from I don't know where it came from I don't know where it came from I think it was because there was a snippet of us chatting or something or like demonstrating the bachelor scenes
Starting point is 00:22:21 but for me yeah I usually date older women actually because I feel like older women are a little bit more nurturing and they've got a little bit more experience
Starting point is 00:22:29 they've got a little bit more to offer that's the key to a man's heart you know when you can cook and like just be
Starting point is 00:22:35 yeah you just want someone to look after you let's not keep all that nurturing I don't know how to do that washing machine thing it looks like
Starting point is 00:22:42 a time machine to me I've never washed my clothes in my life I have a genuine question how was the experience of I'm a celeb because I know that there were things in terms of like the food rations and then the challenges and stuff but you seem to particularly struggle with the food element yeah I mean it was it was without doubt the hardest thing I've ever had to do like every day was a struggle and it was nothing but just the food like the food was
Starting point is 00:23:05 killing me because I didn't have any energy to do anything you know everyone's trying to get up and do things if they're not doing challenges you know go to the waterfall and you know do games and stuff i was that fatigued i couldn't even get off my bed i don't even know how i lasted that long because i wasn't even doing anything i was just sleeping most of the day yeah how much weight did you lose i lost i i know like a couple of weeks in second weekend i think i was up to over 10 kilos 12 kilos in two weeks because you're muscly right and you would eat the calories you'd eat in a day would be through the roof yeah that's right and that's how that's what i should explain to to a lot of them in camp you know like i was on over four and a half thousand for going in there you
Starting point is 00:23:38 know so wow my breath my breakfast would be like triple what i would normally get in a whole day the jungle so it's just you can't comprehend it you know what i mean yeah i feel sorry for the the mummy girlfriend who has to like prepare that much food that's a lot of work the mummy girlfriend yeah so she's got to be mummy she's got to also know how to cook it and use a washer dryer and look like brit yeah okay but you've done quite a few reality tv shows now and some of them have been dating obviously do you do these with the intention of actually wanting to meet someone you have to go in there with with the an open mind of you know meeting somebody like Like, that is the whole premises of the shows.
Starting point is 00:24:13 From my first ever show, like, I was at the point where, like, I was like, I don't, I'm not looking for love, but I'm open to it. You know what I mean? I don't know. I just feel like I'm too young to, like, fully settle down. And it just, yeah, I just, I get bored. I get bored. I've got commitment issues.
Starting point is 00:24:27 I haven't seen a psychologist yet, but I think if it continues down the path it's going down, I think I might need to look into it. What was the experience like? Is it actually the craziest thing you've ever done? Yeah, I mean, from day one, from the moment I walked in there, straight away I was like this is the most rogue I've seen in my life like honestly like it was crazy like there's no filter with any of them they are just like Aussie through and through
Starting point is 00:24:52 and they just love to party oh you've seen Geordie Shore right yeah so how does it level up like what is the comparison like I've seen snippets of Geordie Shore I know that's wild wild but nothing will compare to these Aussies like this particular group of Aussies like there's nothing that I've traveled most countries I've partied most big clubs and I've been
Starting point is 00:25:12 in a lot of you know party scenes and I've just never experienced anything like it they just like you could
Starting point is 00:25:16 I could be so hungover the next day after a big night and like all I want is a piece of toast and they're banging tequila like
Starting point is 00:25:22 and none of them worried about how they're gonna come across or the things that they do like is it genuinely that uninhibited yeah it's they're just unhinged
Starting point is 00:25:29 they don't have any filter but like that's that's what makes it fun for everyone like filming you have to go in there with that mindset you can't be worried
Starting point is 00:25:35 about how you're gonna be perceived You just got to be yourself and what will be, will be. And I feel like some of them are encouraged by others because it's so wild, including myself. Yeah. I didn't expect myself to be as rogue as I was. But when you're surrounded by 10, 12 other party goers, you're going to be like that.
Starting point is 00:25:51 So you, because it's already been filming for a couple of weeks when you come in, people have already made their relationships and their friendships and they know each other so well. Then you just blow in like a hurricane. On your first night, what are we expecting? Like, I've heard you say a saying, you taught this to me, that you like to lip birds up? Did you lip?
Starting point is 00:26:09 What does it mean? Ask Callum. How do you lip someone up? Yeah, lipsing up. Yeah, like kissing, like macking on, isn't it? Oh, lips them up. Yeah, lips them up. So did you lipsing up?
Starting point is 00:26:18 Well, I didn't think I did until I watched the show today. So yeah, I definitely did on the first night. You forgot that you lipped up? I forgot the whole thing. I can't remember any of it, really. Oh, how? I mean, you know, like man's got to do what man's got to do. But yeah, I was definitely lipsing up on the first night.
Starting point is 00:26:34 She must feel special. she must feel really special watching that back well in my mind in my mind obviously I was I was only going to go in for a cameo
Starting point is 00:26:41 so I was only going to go in for like an hour two drop a birthday cake off and be done with it you know but because it was so fun I was like
Starting point is 00:26:47 I'm staying do they do STD tests on like during the cast because like during the season because you could if everyone's sleeping together
Starting point is 00:26:54 surely stuff just spreads no you have to have you have to have tests I think that's where every show across the board even if it's just like deal or no deal I think you gotta have
Starting point is 00:27:00 a STD test I don't think that's correct maybe not deal or no deal In case number two, it's gonorrhea. Callum, what's the most wild thing that we're going to see? Because I read some things there. There are people like doing these ween on each other and like yellow.
Starting point is 00:27:12 What? Yeah, there's like, what's it called? Sorry, the waterfall, yellow waterfall. No, it's a golden shower. A yellow waterfall. A yellow waterfall. Yeah, I mean, like if you can't pinpoint like the wildest moment because it is all purely carnage.
Starting point is 00:27:27 But one thing that always sticks in my head is when everyone's peeing in the bins, you know what I mean? Men and women. So that's madness, you know? Wow, can't wait to watch. Are there any reality TV shows that you're like, I just would not do that? I said that about The Jungle and I did that.
Starting point is 00:27:41 So, yeah, I mean, there's not really a reality TV show I wouldn't do. I'm open to trying everything because it's always a new experience and you meet such amazing people no matter what the show is. Well, Golden Bachelor's coming up. We know that you like older women, so sign you up for that one as well. What's the Golden Bachelor? Oh, it's like the bachelor for old people. Bingo night.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Oh, he's 26. He's not the Golden Bachelor. Bingo birds. But he could date them. Stick to golden showers. I don't think you need the Golden Bachelor. Callum Hall yeah
Starting point is 00:28:05 I just want to say do you now you've done a few dating shows I know you want to do more but do you want to fall in love is there a lucky girl out there that you're actually going to settle down with soon
Starting point is 00:28:12 yeah potentially I mean I can't put my finger on it yet I think I'm still young but if it happens it happens I'm not actively looking to like fully settle down like it's not me
Starting point is 00:28:22 I get bored you know it's going to come it's going to creep up on you that's right yeah the thing is for me I want to meet somebody once I've done like all the stuff
Starting point is 00:28:29 that I want to do and like travel and so forth but I don't want to meet somebody when I'm that old where I haven't had those experiences with my partner as well so it's like a fine line
Starting point is 00:28:36 you know I want to meet somebody at a younger age so I can actually go and travel have experiences before of that family life because I don't want to
Starting point is 00:28:41 like meet somebody go straight into a family life and then like that's it I have nothing but like a family with this one you need to stop going to bingo then because you're not
Starting point is 00:28:47 going to find that girl at bingo Callum Hull Aussie Shore get it now stream it where you can thanks for coming on The Pickup
Starting point is 00:28:53 thank you so much guys to end the week we need to save the best till last that's what they say in the industry At the end of the show, before you go home, you put the best content. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:29:03 Yeah. Who says it? He's only saying that because it's his segment. No, it's not. Yes, it is. No, it is my segment, but that's not why I'm saying it. Shut up. Time for this.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Give it up. It's about, it's about time. The Mitch Pitch. The Mitch Pitch. I have a bunch of ideas, more ideas than really anyone in the whole industry, and I put them into a notes section on my phone in the app, and I pitch them to you girls every, it used to be two weeks, but now it's been bumped to three.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Yeah, it's because these are all the ideas that don't normally make it onto the show. So we had to consolidate them into one small little morsel. We have to make you feel like you're bringing something. Like I'm being heard. Wouldn't surprise me if this doesn't even air. You just got to turn the satellite off. You're actually on mute. A rerun of Laura talking about her kids on Matt.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Britt talking about a wedding again. Hey guys, the dummy fairy's coming this weekend. Mitch, please enlighten us with Mitch's pitches. Thank you so much, Britt. I will. Here we go. Is bar soap so back? Like, nah, it's not.
Starting point is 00:29:58 I have a bar of soap, yes. Yeah, I do, yeah. Just because it's soap doesn't mean it's clean. Someone once said that to me when I was at a public toilet. Laura, you wash your feet in the sink. You can't talk. I remember going to a public toilet and there was like bar soap in the little dish holder and I went to use it and this person,
Starting point is 00:30:15 who I don't know who they were, just turned to me and went, just because it's soap doesn't mean it's clean. Oh, my God. I don't think we're in a public toilet. I think we're just in our home. Yeah, I'm on me in our house and that person was definitely a poltergeist. I'm more mean. In your shower, it just gets in all the nooks and crannies.
Starting point is 00:30:29 You can shove it places. You can lather it. It lasts forever. So you just lather up your hands and wash with your hands. You don't put the bar in your butt. You don't put the soap into your bum crack. Yes, I do. I put the whole bar up there.
Starting point is 00:30:38 What are you doing, Nige? You just lather your hands up and then wash with your hair. To be fair, I wash with the bar under my arms, but it doesn't go to the butt. All right. I've got many other ideas. You can't spend it all on bar soap, but clearly that's a winner. All right. But is baby corn purely made for Thai dishes?
Starting point is 00:30:57 I have baby corn in front of me right now in a salad, so no. Yeah, salads, salads. Very, like, contemporary Aussie. Yeah. Yeah, whatever, I can't speak. Baby corn, you just never see it in anything else other than Thai dishes. No, you do.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Corn has no limitations. And where does it come from? Is it just the corn when it's a baby? They just take it out before it's had time to mature? Is that it? Well, that's unethical. Oh, sorry. All right, QR code menus.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Done. They're out. I don't want to go to another restaurant and have someone say to me, scan the QR code to order. No, lazy butt. I don't want to get my phone out at a restaurant. I want to clock off and talk to my nearest and dearest. I don't want to scroll the menu and order online.
Starting point is 00:31:34 That's a load of rubbish. You'd be influencing and taking photos of your food the whole time. Coming from you, that's rich, Miss Degustation. 12-course meal, thank you, ad. That's true, that's true. But also, I disagree because I love, I love a QR code. I just don't think that if you're doing the QR code at a restaurant I think it's a bit cheeky to ask for a tip.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Like, you didn't actually serve me, so I served myself. I tipped myself. How is this about tips? No, we just want a QR code. You can sit down. You can order within two seconds. You don't need to wait around. You don't need to rely on anyone.
Starting point is 00:32:02 You like that. I think it's brilliant. Yeah, I like it. I like it. Real estate agents need to cut to the chase with the pricing on listings. Price on request. Auction only. Like, shut up.
Starting point is 00:32:14 How many houses are you trying to buy? I'm just looking at the moment. They just want to reel you in. That's fine. They reel you in. Price on request. Just tell me. Mitch, I have a hack for that.
Starting point is 00:32:22 I have a way around that. Yeah? Yeah. A real estate agent's going to hate me if I say it. Say it. There's an extension that you download on Google Chrome. I've got it. You download it.
Starting point is 00:32:31 There is never again, ever, is there something, a house that pops up with no house price. Every single thing has a price. How does it do it? I'll show you after the break. What's it called? Google Property Extension. It's like an extension you download on Google Chrome. There you go.
Starting point is 00:32:45 All right. Most people are not out there Googling that many properties. No, they're not. is the small trolley superior to the big trolley when you grocery shop? You know how there's like the baby trolley and then there's the adult trolley, which is big and like for a full mum shop. But the half trolley is like a couple of items, it's shallow and it's higher. I like it.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Superior. It's nicer. I'm with a deep trolley. I like a deep trolley and I like to have the kid's seat, so I'm good. Oh, yeah. Stick with the deep trolley. You like the kid's seat too much, don't you? What?
Starting point is 00:33:12 I think I know where that was going. You do and I tried to stop myself because you were my friend and I had to watch that. Very much. What happened? His boyfriend, young. Oh, sorry. He's mid-twenties. But I love him.
Starting point is 00:33:24 We're going home. Okay. Is Mitch Pitch backfired? No. Look, there were some good talking points in there. I like the QR code one. Felt passionate about that. The rest of them, not so much.
Starting point is 00:33:33 All right. Well, that's why I'll be back next week. Nah, in about three months. Okay. It's been further and further popping up. It's like a blue moon. Thank you.
