Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode was recorded on Camaragal land. Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Brittany. My name is Matty J, and Britt's just given me some very specific instructions. I have to say that this is a radio show, but it's been cut down. It's now in podcast format. Yep, the best of the week. And the best of the week is that, am I... That's pretty good, Matt. Basically... It's so hard to work with Brittany because she's just constantly berating me.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Because it's just in case we get a new listener and this is the first thing they click on. I love that. It's different to our podcast that we do during the week. Can I just give you one bit of feedback? Okay. If there's specific instructions that I need to follow, it's better to tell me before we start recording.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Well, it's just we've done it for three weeks now, so I thought you'd know. No, it's just it's always better to over-communicate. Do you know what I mean? Do you know what I mean? Gotcha, gotcha. Okay, can I actually, can I be arrogant for a second? Go for it.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Just to continue on the arrogance. Yeah. I'm not too arrogant, am I? What do you reckon, Grace? Eight, seven, eight out of ten? I have been wondering, everyone, you know, it's very hard to fill in for Laura. Big shoes to fill. Yeah, size nine.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Not an easy task. And, you know, I've been thinking to myself, I wonder what the listeners think. Oh, my God. Are you about to read a review of yourself? This is fucking awkward. I've got a review. Just bear with me, okay? Just like, just come on.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Let me have a moment. Producer Grace is rolling her eyes at me. Sorry, Grace. It says, it's from Libby. Shout out to Libby. she messaged me and said, you have been so much fun to have on the pickup. Okay. Maybe they should have you on more regularly when Laura returns. It'd be funny. Okay. Let's get into it. That was bad.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Okay. So I am going to tell you about, this is a real story. I'm not lying to you. I would never lie to you. I'm not that kind of person. I'm very trustworthy, but I was attacked as a youngster on the island of Fraser. Fraser Island, they call it. I was attacked by a dingo. Okay? Okay. That's it.
Starting point is 00:01:58 That's it. You obviously lived to tell the story. Did I? Did I? Hey, do you know what? We are going to talk animal encounters, like weird animal encounters. I do share a few of mine. But there's one I didn't share.
Starting point is 00:02:08 And Matt, I know you wanted to know, so I'm going to tell you now. When I was on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, which is filmed in South Africa, which I did the year before, Matt, Um, the filming had stopped, right? And we got into- You just said, we've got to get out of here, guys. I've got places to be. Grace, this is going to be really quick, okay?
Starting point is 00:02:26 Because I've got so much on this afternoon. We can't fluff about. We've got to make this quick. Quick intro for the podcast. You know why? I have a meeting, but they just put it back 10 minutes. So I'm good. Continue, sorry.
Starting point is 00:02:36 I'm back. Africa, Africa. I'm in South Africa. Now, the filming stopped. It's over. It's the end of the show. But you still hang around for a couple of days. And we had gone out with a couple of-
Starting point is 00:02:45 I made it to the finale. I was at the end too, Matt. Thank you. Did you win? No. And so we go out of our little hut things. There's like three of us and it's dark. It's nighttime.
Starting point is 00:02:59 But usually, I mean, you're always close. Usually it's gated or whatever else. Anyway, it wasn't gated but we only had to walk a couple of meters to get into the car. We all three get in the car. It's dark. We hop in. You're in Africa.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Turn the headlights on and what is right in front of our car A lion. A hippopotami. A hippo? There were two hippos. Oh, my God. Two hippos. How far away?
Starting point is 00:03:23 I could have touched it. It could have eaten me. It was a really close encounter. They're very dangerous. One of the most dangerous outside of the mosquito, the most dangerous in South Africa. Wow. You're lucky to still be here.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Did you know mosquitoes are the most dangerous animal in South Africa? Okay. In the world. Sorry, in the world. Did you know that? I thought this was going to be a quick story. Did you know that? I didn't.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Thank you for telling me. I've enjoyed this week. It's been great. Thank you, Britt. Well, also coming up, as much as we're talking animal encounters, we're also talking our non-sexual turn-ons, believe it or not. That was a subject Matt brought to the podcast. You're welcome.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Anyway. Enjoy. Enjoy. Hey, Britt, I'm not sure if you've seen headlines this week, but the one and only Kimmy K, Kim Kardashian, she is front and centre. She's on a podcast called Call Her Daddy, and she has revealed that there is one item, an everyday item that we all have in our fridge,
Starting point is 00:04:16 she doesn't know the cost of it. I did listen to this. I am a sucker for getting that goss. So I listened to the whole thing. But if you missed it, have a listen. How much a year do you spend on glam? Well, a lot. Like six figures?
Starting point is 00:04:31 Seven figures. It could be a million dollars. I mean, I don't have a concept of what like certain simple things cost, which really is, you know, I'd like to know a little bit more about what, like, a milk carton costs. I mean. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Just interesting to know what a carton of milk would cost.
Starting point is 00:04:51 But it's funny to me that she's so unrelatable that she doesn't even know what an unrelatable conversation is. But, I mean, she's not going to the supermarket, is she? Let's be honest. She's probably got an assistant to do everything from doing her hair, picking up dog poo, to going out and buying the groceries. So you can't blame her, right? Also, if you're spending a million dollars on your glam for a year,
Starting point is 00:05:13 but you know what? I guess we have to keep in perspective that she is a billionaire. So a million dollars for her own makeup is probably the equivalent of us spending like 50 bucks. Well, that got me thinking. These billionaires, the one percenters of the world, the super uber rich. I wonder if you and me will do a quiz and if we can try and figure
Starting point is 00:05:31 out how much their everyday items might cost. Oh, so like reverse engineer this. Exactly right. He doesn't know what bread and milk is. Yeah. All right, I like this. Could we mix with those billionaires and could we understand in everyday kind of language, in conversation,
Starting point is 00:05:47 what their lives actually cost? I'd happily mix with a billionaire. All right, so Producer Grace, I'm assuming you're the quiz master. Yes, I have put together five of my favourite things that I think only really rich people would buy. And I'm going to test to see if you guys can figure out how much they cost. And that means it's who's more likely to fit into the rich life,
Starting point is 00:06:04 Matt or Brittany? And if you lose, you have to get a tattoo of, like, a dollar sign. No, if you lose, you've got to go buy the bread and milk for the week. All right, question number one. We're going to start relatively small here. How much does it cost to charter a private jet for 15 people from Sydney to Dubai? Ladies first. You go, Britt.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Sydney to Dubai. The last time I inquired about a private jet, It was about $70,000. Okay, I was going to say $100,000. $600,000. What? Oh, my God. Oh, I remember now.
Starting point is 00:06:42 That's why I didn't get it. That is a crazy amount of money. $600,000. Question number two. How much does it cost to hire a Michelin star chef five days a week in Monaco per month? $280,000. For a month? Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Don't look. Wait, why? No, I'm just confirming that that's the unit of measurement. I'm sorry for the judgment. I'm going $25,000 a week, so $100,000. $26,900 per month. Boom, that's me. No, you both went over, but you were closer.
Starting point is 00:07:14 No, I'm closer. I was a little bit off, wasn't I? I got carried away. I can't do math. So this one was based off a job ad for a Russian family living in Monaco. I do love my food, so I would have expected myself to get that. And because I can't cook, I have inquired about a chef before, also couldn't afford it.
Starting point is 00:07:29 All right, question number three. how much would it cost to have Mariah Carey perform for 30 minutes at your birthday? 30 minutes set. This is real rich people stuff, getting a celeb to perform at your birthday. She's also like proper diva. How many songs does she sing?
Starting point is 00:07:44 30 minutes. I reckon she could do five or six. Imagine what her rider would be. Oh, my God. The green room. What are you going? I'm going to go big and I reckon surely Mariah Carey wouldn't do a gig for that under a million dollars i was gonna go a mil too so i will go
Starting point is 00:08:02 1.5 just shits and giggles a million dollars matt oh i said a million dollars and i had to change it this is the tiebreaker gosh it's so tense right now in the room how much does it cost to get a six foot tall custom molded life-size bronze statue made of yourself that is what i've Always wanted. Well, Matton costs more because he's bigger. What does a kilogram of bronze actually cost? Well, it's less than gold. Okay, good to know.
Starting point is 00:08:30 So that doesn't help us because we don't know what gold costs. This is a hard one, Grace. You go first, Britt. Six foot. $700,000. Nah, that's too much. Surely. $450,000.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Is it solid or is it hollowed out inside? No, that's $450,000. You've already committed. $100,000. Oh, my gosh. I'm the best rich person officially if there is a spot for a billionaire at the billionaire's table, it's me. Hang on a second.
Starting point is 00:08:53 I got two points. You got one and a half. That was a tiebreaker, Matt. You can't change rules because you suck. There was no need for a tiebreaker. But we already said it. You can't change it. Yeah, that wasn't a tiebreaker.
Starting point is 00:09:02 We said tiebreaker three times because I wanted to say a million and I had to change it. Okay. There's no need to shout, okay? We can all be billionaires in our imagination, okay? I'm the better billionaire, Matt. Okay, can I at least get the bronze statue? Sure.
Starting point is 00:09:14 I found myself in a very awkward position recently, Brit. I feel like that's a sentence that comes out of your mouth a lot. Does it? Well, I guess it's just part and parcel of having young kids. And for those of you who are unaware, Marley is six, Lola is four. Lola is very good at talking, but she doesn't really have a good filter. So we had a babysitter come over recently on a Thursday morning. Shout out to Dani.
Starting point is 00:09:38 She's a huge help. We have her for a few hours. And as she was leaving, Lola just stands there in the hallway and goes, you know, my daddy has very big balls. And poor Dani's standing there going. I'm assuming she doesn't mean like soccer balls. I think, well, weren't sure where this was going and she was like, yeah, maybe he does mean like basketball,
Starting point is 00:10:03 you know, it could be any type of ball. Let's keep in mind balls is subjective. Exactly. And then she goes, well, except when he's in the shower, then those things really shrink up. Oh, no. And I was like, well, thanks so much for your help, Danny. It's been great.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I'll see you next week. Anyway, that could have been ambiguous. She made sure it wasn't by specifying that the balls were something in the shower. I was thinking to myself, surely I can't be alone. So I wanted to put the call out there. If there's any parents, aunties, uncles, anyone who's had time with a child, if they have embarrassed you by saying something
Starting point is 00:10:35 inappropriate. Please call us in now. And I've actually got Chloe on the line. Chloe, what is the inappropriate thing a child, yours or someone else's, has said? So my child and I were playing hide and seek and we were hiding in a walk-in pantry, but she called it the cupboard. Later, we went to a busy coffee shop. We're in the busy line and she says to me, I say, oh, after mum's coffee, we're going home. And she says, mum, are you going to put me in the cupboard again? Very, very loudly. And you're like, don't say that in public. Oh, no. I was like, oh, yeah, for hide and seek.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Definitely for hide and seek, not just when you've been naughty. That's so funny. Hey, Carla, what's the awkward thing that your child has said? Oh, when my daughter was three, we were at a cafe and a man walked in with a really long plait and he was a bit of a bikey looking fellow and he had this really long plait and my daughter I'd been three at the time and frozen obsessed, just yelled out, that man's got an Elsa braid. Can I ask, how did the bikey respond? Well, I was too mortified to look at him because he was a scary looking dude
Starting point is 00:11:47 and I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole. He was probably really nice. Yeah, probably. You didn't stick around to find out? No, I was just like cowering under the table nearly and I was like. Well, I'm glad you made it out of there in one piece. Hey, we've got Shannon on the line. Shannon, what is the wildly inappropriate thing a child has said in your presence?
Starting point is 00:12:09 My six-year-old daughter is renowned for asking questions. A lot of why followed by a lot of why. It's so annoying, isn't it? Oh, it's so frustrating, especially while you're trying to drive. But as you guys all know, the festive season is coming up and we were at the shopping centre and you can see all the Christmas decorations and all that sort of stuff coming out. And she just blurts out of nowhere, does Santa have a penis?
Starting point is 00:12:35 And I was just flabbergasted because I was like, I kind of panicked. And I was like, well, he is a boy. His name is Saint Nicholas. And yes, I guess he does have a penis. But let's talk about this when we get home. Oh, no. I mean, what are you supposed to do? I think you did the right thing.
Starting point is 00:12:52 You did the right thing. And what an inquisitive child. Oh, she cracks me up with some of the stuff. she comes out with. My other daughter is exactly the same. I cannot have a car ride in silence. I bet you can't wait for Christmas photos with Santa. Thanks, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Hey, Matt, you know what I just remembered? Lola, it was Lola again, your Lola. At my wedding, the next day we had like a big recovery party and we were all like swimming around. She said two things to offend two people in this room. One, she came up to me as I was swimming in the pool and she said, Aunty Brittany. And I said, yes, in my little bikini.
Starting point is 00:13:28 She goes, are you pregnant? I just thought, are you pregnant? And I was not and I informed her I was not. But she also went up and said something interesting to Producer Grace. I think it's because you just got married because you were looking great. Can I just put it out there? You don't have to cover for your daughter. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:13:44 And Producer Grace, what did she say to you? She asked if my wife was my grandma. Oh, my God. I was like, no, we're married. Okay, okay. Apologies. It's all the same child. Yeah, Lola's behaviour.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Matt, you are looking great today. Oh, shut up, Brit. That's so forced. I'm not. You've got like a tonally kind of green rainforest shirt on. I'm not buying that. Come on. You actually don't do plain, you know.
Starting point is 00:14:11 You wear quite a lot of patterns and stuff. This isn't going anywhere. I'm just throwing you a compliment. This is weird. This is weird. I don't like it. Okay, well, let's move along. I won't compliment you again.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Do you need to lift home? What's going on? I don't need to lift home. Actually, do you know what? I got a nail in my tyre yesterday. That really put it down. You know how sometimes you get a nail in your tyre and it's a really slow burn, like it can go out for days
Starting point is 00:14:33 and sometimes you can avoid fixing it. You can just keep going and pumping it out with air. You sound like my wife. Yeah. Well, this one went down in front of my eyes. It was like scraping across the ground. Anyway, that's not what I want to talk about. I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine on the weekend
Starting point is 00:14:48 and I want to get your thoughts on it. Okay. So she just made a comment. We're just chatting about things we've watched or read recently. And she said, oh, I've read three books this week. Wow, three in a week. I said, wow. Holy moly.
Starting point is 00:15:01 In my head, I just thought, how is that even feasible? I was like, they're not on public transport. I'm trying to think of the times when you're reading a book, you know, like when you could read a book. Yeah. She's busy. Anyway, I made the comment, I've never seen you with a book. Like, when are you getting the time?
Starting point is 00:15:15 And she said, oh, they're audio books. Okay, hang on a second. I said, that's not reading. reading. And we got into this little discussion where she's like, yeah, I'm reading like 80 books a year or something. And I was like, it's a podcast. I hate to break it to you. You're not reading. That's like someone saying I'm reading books by having an audio book listened to is like saying I've walked so far and I've been driving around in the car. It's not the same. That's a pretty good analogy, actually. It's very similar. Anyway, we had this proper discussion and she sent
Starting point is 00:15:46 me some stupid article that she said, no, look, I've looked into this. People are saying it's reading. I was like, but it's physically not the act of reading. Like listening and reading are two separate things. Anyway, apparently there's like a plethora of people on the interwebs. It's dividing the nation. I don't know if it's dividing the nation. It's not the paper bags, Pauline Hanson. It's definitely interesting to me that there are people floating around out there that are conflating the two things. I don't want to be harsh here.
Starting point is 00:16:15 You know, I like to have a soft touch, but they're idiots, these people. Mr. Grace, you weigh in. It's not the same. I think you can still get like the nutrients from the book by listening to it. But then how would you word it? I'm consuming a book? Because I guess that technically.
Starting point is 00:16:31 I think you could just say I listen to the book. It's not that hard. Yeah. That's all right. All you guys have done is validate me. I mean, you could say I'm digesting. I would say if you want people to think you're reading more than you are, I've consumed like three books this week.
Starting point is 00:16:47 I'd say it like that. No, because – It's ambiguous. It sounds like you're a moth. Yeah. Like, hmm. No, because if you want to – You're like eating books?
Starting point is 00:16:55 What's going on? If you want – Yeah, no, because consuming doesn't have to mean edible. Like consuming can mean a lot of – Like you are consuming TV shows. It just means you're taking it in. AI is making this country slash the world a lot dumber. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Our kids, they got no chance. Sorry. No, I'm going to die on this hill. You can say consuming. It's like you consume media. It's actually a saying. Right, Grace? No, it is.
Starting point is 00:17:21 It is. It's just I would look at someone weirdly if they said they were consuming books. And right now I'm looking at you real weird. Maddie J, you've been laughing to yourself all morning about dying to tell us about this thing that you learnt from your partner that you should have known many, many, many moons ago. Well, before I tell you what my story is, I want to know that I'm not alone. So if anyone has a situation, something they learned later in life,
Starting point is 00:17:45 maybe it was something that they should have known as a young child, but if they have something they're willing to share on radio that their partner has taught them about, I would love to hear what it is. And Britt, this is, I don't want to say it was recently. I was, like it's that in-between awkward stage where you're not quite a teenager, you're not quite an adult. I was about 19, I think. It's a very awkward stage in your life, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:18:07 Thank you very much. Yeah, it was. And I just, there's no real easy way to say this. I didn't know, and I'm going to put blame here on my high school because we had. Don't blame the teachers. No, because they're the ones who are teaching me all the information and they forgot to include this very important topic.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Okay, I will decide whose fault it is once you tell me what it is. Okay, so I didn't realise that women got their period every month. I just assumed, I put two and two to make five, if you will, that it was every week, that it was a once-a-week occurrence. But did you – this is strange to me because did you not know that it goes for generally five to seven days? Like it goes for a week. I thought it was just like a –
Starting point is 00:18:52 Perpetual period? I thought it was just like a morning thing, like it just came in for a couple of hours and that was it. And you had the Band-Aid on just for that day, not knowing exactly when that hour would fall throughout that day. You mean you think women wore a pad every day just in case that was the hour their period was going to drop in? Yeah, like I didn't know the specifics.
Starting point is 00:19:12 But you were 19, to be clear. But why would I know that? I don't get periods, okay? Women weren't coming to me. But you have a sister. You have a mother. You went to school. You had a girlfriend before 19.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Oh, I did see some photos of you in high school. So you're saying that I should blame my mother for this? Possibly Ellie. I mean, Ellie, get her on the line right now. Explain yourself. But no one, for a young man, it's just not, I dare say, a topic of conversation that a lot of young men are talking about. And I think it's good for them to know.
Starting point is 00:19:42 I do want to give some grace that maybe education has been a bit different in the last 20 years. That was 20 years ago, right? So I am, God, I am hoping now that kids coming through. Don't make me sound so old. Well, I'm hoping now that kids coming through know what a menstrual cycle is. Like that's crazy to me. Is it important to know?
Starting point is 00:19:58 Yeah, it is. Because it really affects the women in your life. So people need to know. You know what I recently learned? I'm never going to use this information. Oh, I love how all of a sudden you're standing there on your pedestal judging me and now that you're in the hot seat, you're like. But this is something.
Starting point is 00:20:13 No, because this is something that I'm never doing anything with this information. It hasn't made me smarter, but I did find it unusual. So I found out from my partner, Ben, you know, just an open discussion. I don't know how it came up. I think someone else had mentioned it or we saw it online, whatever. But that when men want to wee or urinate, So like when women feel like they need to go to the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Come on, spit it out, Rit. You feel the pressure in your bladder. But when men need to go, they feel it in their willy. Is that true? Yeah, I'd say so. So it's like your actual willy. So I feel it down by my knees. Yours drags off the ground.
Starting point is 00:20:48 You're like, oh, need to go. Sorry, sorry. I had to. Yeah, look, I do. I feel it in that specific region. Like where's your bladder? Like can you just stand up and point? Well, it's just your blood is like at your lower half of your abdomen.
Starting point is 00:21:01 But my husband, Ben, said that, yeah, he's like men can feel it in their willy and that you can squeeze it and feel it. I need a wee right now. Hey, can I just tell you before we go to the break, we're going to take your calls next. But someone's just written in that and this is, I hope you're still listening right now because we do need to correct you. Someone has just written in that they said,
Starting point is 00:21:23 I never know until my partner told me that a seagull is a baby pelican. Okay. Well, this is. Sorry, I need to correct you if you're listening. A seagull is not in fact a baby pelican. We had some things coming on our pickup line and somebody wrote, my husband thought that the umbilical cord was just shoved back up in the body after delivery.
Starting point is 00:21:44 It's attached to the placenta, isn't it? Matt, you just cut the umbilical cord like three weeks ago. I'm not looking down there. Did you shove it back up? What was it watching? I don't know. It's a mystery. I didn't ask questions.
Starting point is 00:21:55 You're an idiot. We actually have a caller. Meg, you're on the line. What did you only recently find out? Oh, my God. Meg, this is a safe place. No judgment here. It's a safe place, but it's national radio,
Starting point is 00:22:09 so you do with that what you will. I'm just judging myself. So I grew up, right? It was just me and my mum, and we would make Caesar salad, and whenever we made it, she would bring out this box. box. It was a box from the supermarket that had croutons in it. And I was like, cool, great. And that's just how it always came. It always came in this box. And anyway, I moved out when I was young and I was at uni and my husband, he was my boyfriend at the time, was like, hey, let's make
Starting point is 00:22:41 fever salad. And I was like, oh, we can't, we don't have croutons. He's like, well, yeah, We've got bread. I had no idea, none whatsoever, that croutons were made from bread. Hang on, hang on. What do you think they were? They're just separate, right? Hang on, are you just having this realisation too much? I'm with Meg on this.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Oh, what? No, you are not. Thank you. Croutons are not coming from the bread factory. They had their own factory, right, Meg? Yeah. I didn't even know that they were part of bread, though. I don't know what you think they were.
Starting point is 00:23:11 My partner's just making them from bread and I'm like, what is happening? and I'm watching him fry this bread. They're frying the bread? He's fried the bread and it was a crouton. My mind is blown. And he's cutting it in tiny pieces and he's like, see? And I'm like, it's bread?
Starting point is 00:23:31 I know what I'm doing. As soon as I get home, Meg, thank you so much. We have Nicole on the line. Nicole, what have you just learnt recently? Well, it wasn't too recent but I have learnt that thunder is the sound of lightning and not clouds banging together. Hang on a second. What?
Starting point is 00:23:51 No, we're not laughing. It's a safe place. So you thought that it was two clouds running into each other? That's what I was told as a child and nobody thought to circle back and tell me the truth, so I carried that into my mid-20s. Oh, so do you know what it is now? Well, yes, my husband who was my then boyfriend told me when we heard Thunder and he was like, oh, wow, that lightning was close.
Starting point is 00:24:16 And I was like, what do you mean? And, yeah, we went down that. Oh, you went down the track. Oh, my goodness. It was to the point that I even Googled it. Like I didn't believe him. I was like, you're so silly. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:24:29 I think I've learned more this afternoon than my entire school life. You know what came through a few times on the text line, guys? Hopefully you know this, Matt. Quite a few people didn't know that you have to take the lint out of a dryer. You know you use your dryer, you've got to change the lint filter. I did know that. Because it's like a fire hazard. Sure.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Yeah, there are people listening right now that are like, what is a lint filter in my dryer? I can guarantee you. That is just a time bomb, a fire waiting to happen. Hey, Maddie J, we're talking animal encounters. And can I tell you, I encountered a wild animal today. It was you. You're so much better than that, Brit.
Starting point is 00:25:06 But look, imagine this, okay, imagine you're on vacation having a great time. You get a little cocktail. Oh, that sounds good. You're laying down on your sunbed by the pool. You take your towel off. You go to jump into the water. You look down and what do you see?
Starting point is 00:25:20 A crocodile. In the pool. I tell you, I've seen this all over the internet. It's wild, isn't it? Up in Port Douglas. I can't fathom because, like, you know up there that you can't swim in the ocean at certain times, right? You know there's crocs that could be there.
Starting point is 00:25:34 There's all these like stinging animals that could drop you dead in a minute. But you just think that the one place you're safe is the pool. Right. Imagine you dive in underwater, Matt. You love cutting laps in those pools. Imagine you run head into a croc. When I was little, I used to be so petrified of going into the deep end and closing my eyes. Sharks.
Starting point is 00:25:50 But imagine those kids are opening their eyes and there being an actual crocodile in the water. It's a miracle no one was hurt. But I was wondering, Britt, off the back of this, have you ever on holiday had an encounter, maybe it was life-threatening, with an animal? You know, I've actually had a few now that we say it. Actually, I've had three that come to mind straight away. Of course you have. One, I was in the Amazon jungle on this like adventure.
Starting point is 00:26:13 Yeah. We were doing two weeks camping and trying to live off the land and stuff. Like we were catching piranhas and like literally eating coconut worms and stuff. Like we were on a survivalist thing, me and my sister. That sounds lovely. It was, I loved it. Who does that for a relaxing holiday? It was one of my favorite trips I've ever done.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Anyway, I was chasing wild pigs along the Amazon River. As you do. Yep. And these squeaky little pigs, they were so quick that I. To eat the pig? I just wanted to catch it. They were just like, can you catch a pig? I wasn't going to eat it.
Starting point is 00:26:45 I would stick to the fish, but I broke my foot, my toes. I hit a big rock when I was chasing the pig. I'd say it's okay. Okay. I'll give you another one. No, no time for that. No, it's better. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:26:55 No, no time. So my story, Britt, is I was on Fraser Island, okay? Today, I was walking to the convenience store with my older brother. I didn't know this, but at the time, it was mating season. As we're walking one way across the road, two dingoes are walking in the opposite direction. And when I was younger, I used to be able to do a very convincing dog bark. Okay, give it a set.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Thank you. Sorry, who told you that was convincing? No, for those listening, there is not a dog in the room. That is just me pretending to be a dog with my bark. I did that bark at the dingo. So both of them stop in their tracks. And they mated with you. And then nine months later, I became a mother.
Starting point is 00:27:37 The dingoes came towards me. I was chased. I was chased for about 200 metres by the dingoes. They grabbed my shorts, pulled me to the ground. So you felt like the pig. My dingo story is. It pulled you to the ground. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Okay, sorry, I'm back on track. It pulled you to the ground. Then what happened? You chased a pig and tripped over and broke your ankle. That's hardly an encounter with a wild animal. I have better stories. I was attacked. Start with your best one.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Producer Grace, what have you got? No, hang on. Let me do one more. All right, you go. Okay, a monkey stole my Invisalign. Oh, my God. Okay. Okay, I'm going to top your monkey story.
Starting point is 00:28:10 A monkey stole my iPhone and two separate monkeys have bitten me on two other occasions. Monkeys hate me. What? What are you doing to the monkeys? Where were you? I was in Indonesia. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Are you in the monkey forest? Yes. Did you have food on you? No, they just hated me. Did you get your phone back? Yes, but then I got a new phone because the monkey He, like, licked it and I was like, no, thank you. Did you have to get a rabies shot?
Starting point is 00:28:32 Yes, I did. They're very painful. Wow. Guys, I have one more. Okay, so when I was in South Africa for IMAX. So, guys, you can listen to us on demand. Search the Pick Up podcast on iHeart or wherever you get your podcasts. Coming up next is.
Starting point is 00:28:43 I got swallowed by a whale. Matt, you've been prefacing this chat about this revelation you've had about something that gets you going. I'm very intrigued. Brittany, I'll admit it. I'll be the first to say that I'm a very unique operator. And there is one thing in particular that I really enjoy more than anything else. It gets me a bit hot under the collar.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Just remember it's 3 p.m. Yeah, of course. This is all PG. Don't worry. If you have kids in the car, they can keep listening. They can join in, in fact. But I would like to know, Britt, you can think about this. If there's anything you enjoy that's a little bit obscure, a bit unique.
Starting point is 00:29:21 But for me, I ride around on my bike, okay? and as I'm travelling throughout the neighbourhood, I sometimes spot on cars that are parked on the street little notes that have been written. The notes that have been written by someone who was angry, disgruntled by the behaviour of the person parking the car. So not like a fine or something? You don't care for fines?
Starting point is 00:29:44 Sorry, I didn't know that. How long have we got? No, I do like spotting fines. It's also another hobby of mine but let's stay on track. Like I like going onto these cars and picking out the notes and reading them to find out the reason behind the note, why it was written, why it was left there. It's a mystery.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Every note is a little story that I want to uncover. What is, I mean, it's an unusual flex, but what does it do for you? Is it the satisfaction of like, ha-ha, someone else has done something wrong as I glide around on my bike? I just, because sometimes if I look at the car and I'm like, well, it seems to be parked quite well. It's not covering a driveway. It's not parked too far off the curb.
Starting point is 00:30:25 For what reason could someone be unhappy? So it's just not knowing. Are you ever getting like, I know you cheated with my partner notes? Like is that ever happening? To be honest, most of it is just like you parked too close to me and it was hard to get out. Yeah. I bet that still does it for you.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Yeah. I mean, if I got a note that was like, you cheated on me and I hate you, thanks, Russell, that would be the jackpot. That's what I'm really hoping for. I haven't yet had it. Have you ever thought to take the note? No, I would never do that because that would be really inconsiderate. But the thing that I worry about is that if I take the note,
Starting point is 00:30:58 then I put the note back and then someone comes to the car and they think that I've left the note. Well, they find your DNA. Maybe it's a thrill of being caught. Have you ever hit around the corner to wait and watch the reaction of the person when they get back and read the note? I'm a busy man. Oh, yeah, evidently.
Starting point is 00:31:14 I've got places to be. As I'm on my bike, I like to stop to read the notes on cars. Hey. I'll allow myself a few minutes. Okay, I don't have all the time in the world. Laura's like, it's now 8 o'clock. Where the hell's my husband? I don't know if this is the angle that you were asking for,
Starting point is 00:31:30 but I'm just trying to think on the spot like what gets me going that probably shouldn't. It is an item of clothing. Okay. The humble turtleneck. What? Oh, a man in a turtleneck. Let me tell you, I know it seems counterintuitive
Starting point is 00:31:47 because it covers a lot of skin, but there is something about a turtleneck that I am, yes, sir. Okay, well, how do you feel about people in a neck brace? Because it's essentially the same thing. It's the same thing. It's very different. And then if they have a turtleneck and glasses, so I'm sealed, delivered.
Starting point is 00:32:05 I don't, so sometimes I got my husband, Ben, he's a football player, doesn't do turtlenecks, as in soccer, but he was very fashionable but a bit like oversized jackets and stuff. I love how you're like, he's a football player so he doesn't do turtlenecks like no footballers ever do turtlenecks. No, I'm trying to set the scene. They're very, I can't explain, they're very big like oversized jackets and stuff.
Starting point is 00:32:27 I don't know if it's just what's cool for them. I don't know. But I got him into turtlenecks and then once I told him that glasses also do it for me, he came back with some blue light glasses. That is weird. That is strange. Okay, Mr. I get off reading notes. You cannot talk.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Producer Grace, anything that you enjoy? I really like if you're painting a house and you – and, you know, when you're painting from a bucket and there's just enough paint in the bucket to, like, cover some of the walls and the sides and you let it dry just enough that you can peel it out of the bucket, that's hot. That's heaven. You guys have problems.
Starting point is 00:33:04 I don't know, you have a weird Superman kink. The Rock. Oh! Bye.
