Starting point is 00:00:00 Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. This episode is recorded on Gadigal land of the Aurora Nation. Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut. I'm Laura. Brittany here.
Starting point is 00:00:27 And Mitchell as well. That sounded like roll call, didn't it? Hello, everybody. Mitchell. Mel here. Present. I changed it up then for the first time ever because I always say, and I'm Brittany. And you said Brittany here.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Yeah. I was just trying to do something different. You're a trailblazer. I like it when you keep things spicy. So this is, if you've never listened to this little episode before, this is what is kind of the pickup show, but on Life Uncut, it's our podcast channel. It's our radio show. All the best bits.
Starting point is 00:00:51 I wonder if any of the lifers catch it live because it's live every day. Oh, they do. I think they catch it live and then I don't know if the same lifers are listening back. maybe i don't know i feel like it's type of thing that if people are in their cars they're turning on they're like oh my god that's right laura and mitch and britney are on the radio and then they're you know and anyways whatever you know we're deep diving you know peek inside the radio curtain you know how it's the pickup with brit laura and mitch you know in photos they like are really adamant that we stand in that exact order yeah because it's like it it's like a memory marketing site
Starting point is 00:01:20 kind of thing like in case people i mean heavens forbid in case someone doesn't know who we are which is a lot of them, it's so that you can associate names with, I get it, whatever. Now you know the behind the scenes of radio. That's all there is to know. Mitch only knows that because Mitch asked to go first in the photo and the name. No, I didn't.
Starting point is 00:01:37 I asked to be in the middle because I think it looks better to have me flanked by two gorgeous women. Yeah, but now you're just on the end with an extra finger. No, and you know what they've done, Laura? They have shrunk me down to be the same size as you. So you look gorgeous and statuesque, but I look like Danny DeVito. It's a terrible photo of you. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:55 You are very handsome, but that is not doing you any justice. Also, you don't have a neck either. It looks like your thumb. No, it's like they photoshopped out, like they blurred your skin and your head goes to your shoulders. If anyone doesn't know what we're talking about, this is our, like, photo for the pick-up. So you can see it anywhere.
Starting point is 00:02:10 It's the photo of the three of us. It looks very luxe listings. Mitch has six digits on one hand and he looks like a thumb. For all the lifers, if you don't know what we are talking about, we're going to put this on our socials again. because it truly is not a great photo. Also, I want to get rid of that. I've lost 40 kilos.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I'm proud of how I look. I want it to be updated. Mitch, to be clear, I want it to be known. We're not saying that's a bad photo of you because of the way you look. It's the edit and the shrinking. No, I agree. They've styled me like from Con Out. Like, I look awful.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Also, I think when you shoot again, Mitch, I think you keep a bit of the facial hair. I'm not vibing the clean boy look. I like a bit of facial hair. What do you reckon, Laura? I love facial hair. It's my fave. I mean, also, I think mustaches.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Is it a mustache or a moustache? It's whatever you want it to be. They're making a comeback. Like Matt's growing his mustache again, which it's fine until a certain length and then past a certain length, it goes straight up my nose whenever he kisses me. Ben has a little mustache, but when he wants to grow a beard, it's really spotty, which he doesn't, it doesn't work. Oh, it's patchy.
Starting point is 00:03:12 It doesn't grow in all the spots. Can I admit something that I have never told you and didn't think I ever would? You've got a man crush on Ben? Well, I've told the whole world. Yeah, that's not unknown. What do you want to get off your chest? When I stayed at Ben's house in Scotland with you for those two weeks in December, my beard grew out and I didn't bring my beard trimmer,
Starting point is 00:03:30 so I used Ben's, I think it was his pubic trimmer. Oh, Mitch, that was my pubic trimmer. That's Britt's butt crack trimmer. Yeah, you used mine. Did I? Yeah, you put my butt on your face. Standard weekend for you two. Yeah, Saturday.
Starting point is 00:03:44 There's nothing I've not been through. Oh, I thought that would have been more dramatic. Do people use, like, trimmers for their, what do you, do they? Okay. I use my same big trimmer on my balls and my shaft, yeah. Do you use one trimmer for downstairs and one on your face? Or do you just shave your face and then shave your balls? Ooh, good question.
Starting point is 00:04:01 I do face them balls and I rinse it. I don't think it matters that much because you end up with the balls on your face anyway. Not my balls, someone else's balls. Exactly. But you're not opposed to having balls on your face, so it's fine. Sign me up. It's Mardi Gras weekend. As you're listening to this.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah, are you, what's your outfit? Can you talk us through it? I'm not an outfit kind of guy. No sparkles. No sparkles. No, I'm marching in the parade for a charity, the Northern Beaches Pride, which is Fusion Pride. So I'm like promoting that, which is cute.
Starting point is 00:04:25 So I'm wearing a Northern Beaches Pride shirt. And then I reckon I'll just wear some short shorts or something. Cute. I got the quads. Maybe I'll wear some Nike, like Lululemon running shorts. You do like your quads. All right, let's get into the show. The guys are like, hey, let's call your mum, Britt,
Starting point is 00:04:38 to see if she loves you. That's what you said. We didn't force you. We were talking about how, as you have more kids, you just have less time and energy for your children, basically. Number one gets all the time and energy, and then number two, number three, number four, however many kids you have, it kind of just dwindles.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And Brittany interpreted less energy and less ability to do things like take photos or run around after your kids as less love. So she confronted her mum about loving her less and not having any baby photos of her. Yeah, my sister, Sherry, the fourth one, she's like Voldemort, like she who must not be named. They don't even know who she is. I think they forget she's this.
Starting point is 00:05:11 They haven't. She lives overseas. They're like, what fourth kid? Well, it actually was a very family-orientated episode because I spoke to my dad, Mark Turi, on the show. We all spoke to my dad. He's lost the plot. I love your dad, but he's a loose cannon.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Context for this when you hear it. My dad is the kindest, sweetest soul in the world. He is. How would you explain it? Could you guys have met him? I just think he's a loose cannon. I think he's sweet, but he doesn't, you know what it is, he doesn't often filter through what he's going to say.
Starting point is 00:05:36 That's the best part. Look, if he was a permanent feature of Laugh Uncut, as in like on Ask Uncut episodes giving advice, he would have gotten himself cancelled by now. And us. But he's fun for a ring in. Totally. He's fun for an alternate point of view.
Starting point is 00:05:49 It is funny hearing him than me. There's a lot of similarities. You have to listen to it. He's great. We love him. Anyway, all that and more. And I know everyone's talking about Taylor Swift. That's just a lot of Taylor chat.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Okay, well, bear with me for a little bit longer. So Travis Kelsey, Taylor's boyfriend, was here. He was in Sydney at her concerts. He's just flown from here to Vegas. Apparently, she's put some rules and regulations in place as to how he's allowed to behave when he's over there in Vegas. So he's not allowed to go to any strip clubs. Strip clubs have been strictly banned.
Starting point is 00:06:20 He's also not allowed to pose in any photos with female fans because she's worried about the types of headlines that might come out. Now, obviously, this is all just speculation. It's very... I don't believe that part. And I kind of don't either. Like, I don't... I can't imagine someone like Taylor Swift is so insecure
Starting point is 00:06:35 that she needs to put rules in her relationships. But maybe she's been burnt so many times by boyfriends behaving badly, that she's just at the point where she's like, do you know what? If you want to be with me, you can't do X, Y, and Z. He's also a world-class footballer. His management would be saying the exact same thing. Don't be spotted out with a girl.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Don't be spotted in a strip club. But also, we're just making this sound, I say we, the media are making it sound like Taylor Swift has a stranglehold. Yeah. We are the media. Which is why I would like to say that I disagree with it. The media are making it sound like Taylor Swift has a stranglehold on him and she's imposing all these rules and regulations.
Starting point is 00:07:07 There are a lot of people out there that don't like their partners going to strip clubs, whether you're uber famous or not. No, I agree. That is just what your boundary is in a relationship, let alone making her look like an idiot when he jets off and goes to a strip club. Totally. And Britt, I agree with this.
Starting point is 00:07:20 So Matt, he's just gone over to Vegas for the same thing. So he's over there. What, for a strip club? To go to a strip club. He's over there for a strip club. We made you text him in the songs. Britt and I were like, wait, have you put these rules on Matty too and tell him to read the text?
Starting point is 00:07:32 Well, no, he's there currently for the footy as well. And I was like, are you going to go to any strip clubs? why you're over there. And he wrote no. He said, who's asking? You said, I am. No, I made it clear that it was for radio and that I wanted to know because I don't want him to think that I'm telling him
Starting point is 00:07:45 what he can and can't do. But firstly he said no and then he wrote back a couple of messages later after discussing a few other things and he was like, look, if other people from KO and stuff are going and everyone's going, then maybe I'll go. He's like, I don't want to say completely a no in case it's a thing that we all do. I want to leave it open.
Starting point is 00:08:02 So I was like, wait, wait, are we now having a discussion about you going to strip clubs? How do you feel about him going to strip club, Laura? Well, part of me felt like I didn't need to lay it down as a rule because I kind of didn't expect that he would go. Would I care? I don't know, Britt. I think I would care a little bit if he was going to strip clubs in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Wait, Laura, he's going with KO, KO Sports, right? They're paying for the trip for his podcast. Well, I mean, they're not paying him for his trip. He's working. Of course. He's presenting for them. Yeah, that's my point. So if he goes to a strip club, he's going to have to post it
Starting point is 00:08:29 and write hashtag gifted, hashtag ad. It's also tax deductible. Yeah, he's going to have Sabrina on his lap and he's going to go with the hashtag giftedthanks at KOSport. He gets a lap dance and it's going to be a tax deduction. I asked Ben, my partner, the same thing. And I genuinely, he was like, no, I don't really like them, to be honest. But I was like, look, I genuinely wouldn't care
Starting point is 00:08:47 if you were going to them on a Bucks party or something. But if you were just going because you're like, yeah, it's my board on a Tuesday night, then it's a problem. Hey, Ellie's called us. What did you ban your partner from, Ellie? I banned him from wearing funnel shirts. I hate them. It's awful.
Starting point is 00:09:02 I can't. Like, I mean, what kind of final shirts are we talking about? Because I can't like a man in a funny... You know the lumberjack? No, like that lumberjack, like, check it. Ali, I just bought my partner Ben a lumberjack, like, jacket, and he looks so hot in it. No, not for me.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Have you had a bad experience with a lumberjack, perhaps, Ali? No, not at all. It's just the look. I just, it's not a vibe. It's just not for me. Wait, so have you got, Brittle, Laura, have you banned anything that's, like, not strip club? Like, what weird bans do you have in your relationship?
Starting point is 00:09:32 I've been farting We've discussed this In my vicinity Like you just have to leave the room But just don't lift your butt You're going to let it rip on me Britt have you still not farted In front of Ben your partner
Starting point is 00:09:41 I accidentally let one slip What happened Well I accidentally let one slip What did you cough And then what did he do He just thought it was The greatest thing ever He had a field day
Starting point is 00:09:52 Because he thought He felt closer to you No he did not He thought it was funny Because my rule is not to do it And I did it He just thought it was hilarious But I was like sorry
Starting point is 00:09:59 It's okay if it's an accident I think when you're in a healthy relationship, you don't need to set rules on your partner and tell them what the things they can and can't do are. Completely agree, yes. But when you're in a terribly toxic relationship, that's when you find yourself setting a lot of rules. You don't even let Matt have chewing gum or toothpaste
Starting point is 00:10:16 that smells like mint, Laura. You set rules. Coming from Laura. I hate chewing gum. When you're in a healthy relationship, there's no rules. Yet Matt has to wear green undies only. He has to use a certain shampoo. He's got a curfew.
Starting point is 00:10:28 All right, I'll eat my own words. That's true. Okay, there's lots of rules. Whatever. Guys, I saw possibly the, and I don't even know how to describe this because as it was happening, I was like, surely this isn't happening. Possibly the craziest thing that I have seen a mother with a newborn baby experience. And this happened like right next to me at the beach. Okay. So to set the scene, I was sitting there, I had my two kids and they're, you know, they're a bit older now,
Starting point is 00:10:51 they're running around like crazy. Matt was next to me. And then sitting on the same wooden seats was this mum who had her newborn baby, tiny, tiny little thing. And her husband had just gone down to the water, down to the pools, right? So she's there and she's just putting sunscreen on. And you can tell she's a new mum. You can tell that she's a first time mum. She's being so gentle with this little baby and she's fussing over him. And then she stands up and as she stands up, this woman approaches. She's kind of an older lady and she walks up and she just out of nowhere takes the baby out of the mother's arms. And I thought it must have been like her mother-in-law or a relative. Anyway, I was kind of, this is all happening in my periphery. She picks up the baby
Starting point is 00:11:32 and she's cuddling the baby. And then she starts joking like, ha ha ha, I'm not going to give him back. And then I can tell the mother is getting a little bit more, she's being very, very polite, but she's obviously uncomfortable by what's going on there. And that's when it dawned on me that she had no idea who this woman was whatsoever. She'd never seen her before in her life. And this, this older woman just came up and took her baby it was a random woman a completely random woman came up took her baby and wanted to hold it because she thought it was so cute well then what happened well i sat there and i was like do i say something and this was as it was unfolding i was about to like interject myself then i was like i don't want to be the one that's overbearing
Starting point is 00:12:09 and i could tell that she was just being so so polite like the mum was being so polite anyway it would have lasted like not long but in total like maybe four minutes right but four That's a long time. When you just stood there? No, I, yes, I stood there. I love that you're making this law response. Why are you making this my fault? Okay, four minutes of this mum being uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:12:29 and, like, wanting to get her baby back and this woman not reading between the lines and pretending she's like, ha, ha, ha, I'm going to run away with the baby. I don't think you need to be diplomatic if a woman has come and kidnapped your child. I think you can just ask, you don't have to beat around the bush. You can be like, excuse me, give me my child back. I don't know who you are.
Starting point is 00:12:43 But I think for me this was a real example of how sometimes people want to be polite not to offend someone And it wasn't until, I mean, like I said, it took me a little while to even realise what was going on. And then once I realised what was happening, it was unfolding, I was like, do I interrupt here? Do I say something and tell this woman to give the baby back? No.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Oh, hi, I host a sex and wellness podcast. Give that woman her baby back. This is not on and I'm going to be discussing this on Monday. No, how old was the woman? Oh, she would have been like in her mid to late 70s. Yep, that's my point. Mid 70s. I agree.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Old people, and I'm not trying to shame the old people, but old people, it's okay. It's my bold opinion. Don't be ageist, Mitch. No, it's okay because you should see my Alma at the cafe. If her cappuccino isn't scalding hot, she will scream. They just have different levels. It's a different generation too.
Starting point is 00:13:31 They're from a generation where it used to be that real takes a village and you probably could have gone and done that and the mother probably would have been like, oh, thank God, take her for a while. I feel I'm not making excuses at all. I don't think you can do it. But when you hit that generation, I sort of understand where it came from. It's not like it's a young woman that's like,
Starting point is 00:13:46 ha-ha, got your child and runs off. Yeah, it's weird. It's like a mother hen that's like, I can probably see that you're having a bit of trouble. Give me a second. I'm great with kids. I've got 18 grandkids. They don't talk to me.
Starting point is 00:13:57 They never call me. Let me have my fix. This little taco. Is this his area? No, I didn't have them in my day. I pushed it out, you know? I know, but still, surely there has to be some boundaries that at some point you say, okay, I know you're old
Starting point is 00:14:07 and maybe this is the most joyful thing you've experienced this week, but give my baby back. 70-year-olds don't have boundaries. Did she have leathery skin? Yeah, she was at Bondi Beach and the sun had been doing that for 75 years. White bleached hair? I think I know the woman. I actually think she helped deliver to me at Carina Private Hospital.
Starting point is 00:14:23 No, I disagree. Let us know on the pick-up socials. DM us, is it okay? No, it's not okay. You can't take someone else's baby. You can't even pat someone's dog you don't know. So, Mitch, go and put the baby back. I don't have no baby.
Starting point is 00:14:34 It's just here in your Balenciaga bag. Swaddling a newborn. A little earlier in the week, I took you guys on a bit of a history lesson, which I found very interesting. Mitch, you hated it. But it was about it. I think it's thoroughly interesting. Well, it was about love.
Starting point is 00:14:49 February 29, the leap year, the fact that it's the only... You know what? Just listen to what I said earlier. In 1288, Queen Margaret brought in a law that said on the 29th of February, women are allowed to propose to men. Because back in the day, men were only ever allowed to propose. Now, if the woman proposed and the man said no, he had to give her... Like, it was almost like a fine for saying no.
Starting point is 00:15:16 and he had to buy her, like, a new dress or give her a kiss or, like, some sort of compensation. Can I just say, Laura texts me after and we all laugh behind your back. That's not true. I think it is so interesting. It was ridiculous. It was an interesting fact, but your storytelling, like, we're not children at a pantomime.
Starting point is 00:15:31 No, but the Queen was. Apparently she was only five at the time. Yes, that's the craziest part. She's only five years old, which makes sense when she's like, oh, if he says no, get a kiss or a dress. Anyway, we wanted to... Oh, it does make sense now, yeah. It makes sense.
Starting point is 00:15:42 But we wanted to know if anyone out there had proposed, like women had proposed on a leap year or have ever proposed in general, right? Because you don't hear about it a lot. But we do have someone on the phone. We've had Laura call up with a very lovely love story. Hi, Laura. Hi, Laura.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Hi, girls. Hey, bitch. Hi. Did this happen to you? Did you propose? I did propose. I proposed a couple of years ago to my fiancé. I'm about to marry in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:16:08 What was the reason behind you proposing? And I say that because most of the time it's the man. But, like, it's not like you've been together 15 years and you're like, I've had enough. Yeah, I'm waiting, waiting. No, I'd actually been engaged a couple of times before and to no avail. Like, it didn't work out and I just sort of knew
Starting point is 00:16:26 and decided that I was going to take matters into my own hands. Okay, now, I need to know, when you were engaged before, did you also ask them or was this the first time that you asked someone? Like, was this the first one that you were like, okay, I'm doing this myself? A hundred percent. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's so nice.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Yeah, he was, and he's just the best guy in the world. So it was kind of just a no-brainer. Can I ask how you did it? Yeah. I didn't really know how to do it, to be honest. Sorry, my baby's having a little bit of a moment. I laid down a rug and put a little platter together, got him his favourite bottle of scotch, some champagne,
Starting point is 00:17:00 went to Michael Hill and bought an engagement band. I didn't really know what to do and I sort of just said it and he didn't believe me. Did you drop an E, Laura? I tried to. I was kind of laughing the whole time. Wait, what was his reaction, Laura? Is he like a traditional blokey bloke?
Starting point is 00:17:17 Did he go, I want to do it? He's such a bloke. He's such a bloke. But he didn't believe me at first and then he started crying and I was crying. Oh, you were like, this is the win that we wanted. You want tears at a proposal, right? It was 100% and if he's not crying at the wedding,
Starting point is 00:17:30 then don't bother. I mean, this is all very good information about heterosexual couples, but gay people have to do that. We don't have a choice. How do you pick, though? Like, how, when you're in a gay relationship, do you decide who's going to do the proposing? Everyone always asks me, like, how do you do it?
Starting point is 00:17:42 So my dream is for just myself and my future partner to just do it at the same day. But Grace, our executive producer, is in a same-sex relationship. Who proposed in your situation? I made it very clear to my partner, Diana, from the start that I don't propose, I get proposed to. So Diana proposed to me. But then I proposed back a couple of weeks later.
Starting point is 00:18:02 You wanted to make it nice and even. Yeah. Well, I got her a ring, so I wanted to make sure she got the moment too. I am, I mean, I'm hopefully going to marry my partner, Ben, who lives overseas, but there is no chance I'm proposing. I was going to say, coming up next, Brit's proposing to her partner, Ben.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Oh, I might pick up. You might have seen this. If you've been watching maths, you'll definitely know what I'm talking about. But it's been all over the news. Okay, so there's a couple on maths. They seem like they're terribly paired. It's Lucinda and Timothy.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Oh, I've heard about them. Okay, zero sexual chemistry. Lucinda wants to see where things can go and Timothy checked out the minute that he walked down the aisle, pretty much. so there's no they haven't done the d they have not bumped uglies yet and they're making that really known aren't they to the point where it's weird right they're like the bumpless act between the two of them nothing's happened they've got no chemistry and it's it can't be going anywhere
Starting point is 00:18:53 but this week it's family friends week which the last thing you want to get people involved in is when you're talking about bumping uglies is your family and your friends they don't really need to be involved in this conversation but the thing that was very interesting about lucinda and timothy is that Lucinda's father had some very interesting advice for him. Have a listen to this. We'd love to see a little bit more sort of action on your behalf. Yeah. Could be a one-night stand or could be anything, but just try it.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Is that...? Did I miss here? Did you say you need to have a one-night stand with my daughter? Yes, I did. Oh, my God. We should. Great advice for a father to give to a, you know, potential you know whatever could you imagine i mean this makes me feel viscerally uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:19:41 if i ever thought of my dad like trying to like come on just give it a go give it a crack and he even went on to say maybe he would be a bit more into her if he had a one-night stand with her like maybe her his feelings would change it's just i know don't you want the best for your daughter like you want some no that's not old school mish i'd say it's the opposite i'd say that's i would say that's new school but way too new like that's my dad mark jury would make a joke like that like it's more tongue-in-cheek he's not joking he's like go and bone my daughter and then report back tell me if it's okay tell me if you like her more now he's clearly just trying to like get on this like he's a blokey bloke he sounds like a blokey bloke this is very pub chat right of course but
Starting point is 00:20:20 don't most parents like most dads would say the opposite i would think that most dads would be like respect my daughter you know only do those things if you actually have good intentions with her whereas this guy's like go on give it a crack no one else is going there i'm not endorsing it i'm just saying that's the problem there yeah it is brit what do you think because i feel like you're divided i know look okay i get what he's getting at in terms of i believe intimacy is important in a relationship but you also can't pressure if someone doesn't want to be intimate with you you can't pressure them and your family definitely can't pressure them like there's a lot of red flags there but mish i know you're on the other side here and maybe we ask the audience i
Starting point is 00:21:03 don't know but i don't think it's normal for families and parents it's not normal in my family that's very normal it's to just know you talk about that stuff we do we joke and because it's not like you've got consent i own her here's a dowry and a kettle cat and and you can have my daughters have my have your way with it's also not a one-night stand though because that he literally He said have a one-night stand. They were his exact words. No, I know, but that's what I'm saying. It's not, though, because they're in a quote-unquote relationship
Starting point is 00:21:31 and they're on a show. They're never going to not see each other again. Shuri family are just very open with sex lives and relationships and all our partners have been very intertwined with my parents from day one. I just think he'd say something similar. Can you call him right now? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:44 I want to ask him. We're going to get Mark Shuri on the phone. I don't believe that any dad would be like, do you know what? A good idea is for you to have a one-night stand with my daughter. Then you might catch some feelings. Okay, Dad's in the middle of work. He's a busy man.
Starting point is 00:21:56 This is a work day for him. Are you there, Dad? Hello? Hey, Mitch. How are you, buddy? Hi, we're good. You're on the air with the girls. Hi, Mark.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Hi, Mark. Hi, girls. How are you? Hey, Mark, we're in a heated discussion here about something happening on maths. Just a question. Don't overthink it. Do you think you would suggest for Mitch and his partner to get intimate immediately, straight off the bat? Mate, at the end of the day, at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:22:22 a relationship in the beginning should be highly sexual. The intimacy and the emotional attachment comes later, right? So my advice is... I told you. My advice is if he wants to have an intimate long-term relationship, you've got to start with sex. That's the basis. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Oh, look at that, Mark. Mark, I can't say it. The foundation is trust, respect and love and sex. When the sexy time comes. No, no, the sex starts first, then the sex comes. I think he's right. I think he's right because in this day and age with apps, Dad, God, we sound like the same person at the moment,
Starting point is 00:23:00 but you sleep with someone, then you build the relationship. Dating has changed since you guys were dating. You talk to them online for like a month. It doesn't happen. I am shooketh, Mitch, but a lot of this is I'm understanding more about you now. Hold on, Dad. Is it different because you've got two daughters?
Starting point is 00:23:15 You've got like Beck and Rach. Yes. Laura, is that a different situation? No, it's not gender specific. This is about bloody creating an intimate bond. And the emotional stuff comes after the sex. It never comes before. And if it does come before...
Starting point is 00:23:30 So you'd be happy, Mark. If it does come... Sorry, you'd be happy to say to, like, Rach or Bec's partner, they hadn't slept together yet, you'd be like, mate, what are you waiting for? Just get going. Mate, I could tell you some stories, but we don't have time. No.
Starting point is 00:23:44 100% dive in. I wouldn't have said diving. Okay. Thank you, Dad. Come to the realisation now that the real thing to take home from this is that you and your dad would be perfect on Married at First Sight. If the casting call is still out there, you guys would be amazing. Wait, Liz is called.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Why don't we get a female perspective? You stay there, Dad. Liz, what do you think? Do you think this is good advice? Would you do it? Do you have kids? I do. Puppetry and Lucinda's dad, they could be great mates.
Starting point is 00:24:12 I think they probably are. I think actually it is the same person. Not for me, guys. Like, I just think, I mean, firstly, I don't even want to have to convince someone to have to sleep with me. And second of all, I certainly don't want my parents convincing someone to do it. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Amen. I think, yeah, it's a no-go zone. No-go zone. How humiliating, your dad trying to convince someone to sleep with you. Begging. Just come to, please just do it with my daughter and then maybe you'll have feelings for her. I think it's endearing.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Take off my hands. I think it's fine. I like it. Before I had kids, I think, without even realising it at the time, I used to judge the way that people parented their children, right? Did you? Because you have no clue how to do it yourself but you always think that you're going to do it better.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Yeah, but you and I can be judgy of parents at times. Oh, yeah, we judge your parents all the time. Yeah, I mean, let me say this is not me saying that I think I haven't figured it out. Like I do not know what I'm doing and now that I'm at this point, I'm like I'm okay with the fact that I don't know what I'm doing. But there's a woman who has gone viral online because she has come out and said that she puts her kids on a leash.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Her little toddler, she puts him in a backpack, she straps him in and she puts him on a leash so that he can't run away. Makes sense. I like it. I love it. I love it. I don't know about that. But back in the day, I would have said, oh, my God,
Starting point is 00:25:28 you can't leash a child. They're not a dog. Anyway, the reason why I love it, and she's come out and she said, you know, my kid, he can run a hell of a lot faster than what I can after having, she had a caesarean, so, like, for her, she still had complications from her operation. Like a safety kind of thing. Yeah, and she's like, he is a little runner,
Starting point is 00:25:42 And he's so fast. And so when we're in public places, the kid just, you turn your back, he turns around, he runs away. And now he can't because you just, whoop-ah, and you pull him back. I think it's brilliant. No, guys, it's the perception. It's always the Terry Tally backpack. I'm all for being a tired mum or a tired dad and not wanting to chase your kid,
Starting point is 00:26:01 but it looks like you're walking a dog. It's not fun. Sometimes children behave like that, so they need to be on leaves. Well, then why have you not? Have you leased your kids a lot on Marley, Laura? No, I haven't. But, okay, so my mum, she used to leash my sister, right? Which we found out about when we were older.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Your sister's name's Leash? Alicia, yeah. Leash was Leashed. Leash was Leashed. And we've got photos of Alicia when she was a little kid being leashed. But I was never leashed. And I have this theory that my mum jealous that you weren't leashed and your sister was leashed.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Yeah, well, I mean, for a while there I started to think maybe it was because my mum didn't care if I did run away. I was like second child. She was like, God, hopefully this one gets lost. No, I genuinely think that's a thing. Like I'm one of four kids. I have two older brothers. No, it's not a thing, Britt.
Starting point is 00:26:47 No, it is. I have two older brothers and a little sister. So I'm third. Honestly, like the strictness and the care level, I don't want to say the care level, but it gets a lot looser. The attention to detail with the first. The attention to detail from one to four is extreme. I can't even, as number three,
Starting point is 00:27:05 I can find probably two photos of myself as a kid. My poor sister Sherry, the fourth child. There's nothing. I don't think she has one photo. She was like, when you've got three other kids, the fourth one, you don't know where it is. That's so natural, though. I'm one of three.
Starting point is 00:27:17 It's the same for me. It happens with everyone. Yeah, but also I don't think that this is that the parents don't care. You're so busy. By the time, when you have one kid, there's nothing else for you to do except worry about that one kid, right? You're taking photos of them. Oh, my little angel sent from the heavens.
Starting point is 00:27:30 And then you have two kids and you're like, oh, my God, I never stop. I don't have time to get my phone out. I don't care anymore. Well, you need to literally think of the children. and if you can't have enough time to take photos of all of your kids equally, you shouldn't be having them. Because you know the reason why you have children is to photograph them.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Hold on. Have you ever confronted your mum? Because your mum's Nicola. She's gorgeous. Nikki, yeah. Have you ever confronted her about this? You should. About why she loved my sister and I less.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Yes, because it's clearly upset you. I haven't, but it is. I mean, sure. Like it's a bit concerning when I think about not being able to find any baby photos. Do you mean, honestly, you go home, you look through the family album and there's not a baby photo of you or your sister?
Starting point is 00:28:09 No, there's probably, and I'm not exaggerating, you know when you need to circulate a baby photo or you need it for something? There's three that I can think of. I don't remember seeing myself as a child and my sister can't find any. She's got none. The fourth one, but I don't know where she was.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I reckon we ring her because she's A, unhinged. I went through Scotland with the woman and she's crazy. You travelled with my mum. She's different. I think she took more photos of me on that trip than she did her own kids. She was like, Mitch, pose in the mountains. Mitch, you're in Hogwarts.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Take a photo. She has more photos of you than my sister, Sherry. Do you reckon we could call her Laura? I don't think you're going to get the answer that you want in this situation, but we can call her. Should you confront her, Laura, or should Britt confront her? Should I then confront my mum as to why she didn't leash me? Is that where this segment's going?
Starting point is 00:28:48 Maybe. Then I'll confront my parents about my coming out story. So let's all get our trombone in. Okay, let's call my mum and say, why didn't you love me? Sounds great. Hello, Nikki speaking. Mum, it's me, as in your daughter, Britt. oh i need my daughter brian how are you sorry the number i think i have must have put private
Starting point is 00:29:09 number on i'm good how are you i'm good yeah to what do i owe this pleasure um i was actually just wondering i've been trying to find some baby pictures baby pictures yeah ben ben asked me for some baby pictures and i was trying to put something together for sherry um she was looking for her baby pictures too, and I can't seem to find any. Hmm, okay. I can go through all my photos. I've got hundreds, but I can go through them. Baby photos of Sherry.
Starting point is 00:29:37 No, photos of me, and I went through the photos, all the photo albums at home, and there's like five albums of Mitch and then four albums of Dane. I've got like, what, half an album, and then I cannot find literally one photo of Sherry, and I can't find one photo of Sherry and I together. I've got a couple. Do you have a favourite? Where, Mum?
Starting point is 00:29:59 At home. Actual physical photos I've got. But why do the boys get... Your firstborn gets 3,000 photos and then you haven't got any time by the time the third and the fourth come. Well, I don't know. It seems like you probably have a favourite. It's not done deliberately.
Starting point is 00:30:14 It's just one of those things, you know. Like you don't love me as much as the boys? That'd be ridiculous. I probably didn't have time to get the camera out, Brett. I had four children under seven. Well, who's fault is that, Mum? That's your father's, not mine. I can blame him for everything.
Starting point is 00:30:31 What about Sherry? Because poor Sherry. Poor Sherry. Was she in an accident? I struggle to find photos of her at any age, but I will go through my photos. I just don't believe you have them. I'm 36 years old and I've looked my entire life
Starting point is 00:30:47 and I do not have a photo of myself. I've got all the photo albums here. I'm not at home now. Why did you have so many kids if you couldn't take a photo of them? When I had children, I didn't think, oh, maybe I shouldn't. I won't be able to take photos of the third and fourth. No, I don't know. I just always thought I'd have four children.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Nikki, Laura and Midge here as well. Nikki, I'm on your side. Am I on radio? Yes, you're on radio. Nikki. Thanks for telling me, Bruce. I haven't said anything, but. Well, no, luckily you said you love me.
Starting point is 00:31:21 I mean, that was the killer. Look, honestly, you just don't have time by the time the third comes and then the fourth. Poor old Sherry really missed out. Oh, okay. It's just the way it is. Yeah, and your first one's, you know, really special. Oh, you take 3,000 photos of them, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:39 when the next one and the next one and the next one come along, it doesn't mean you've got one. And the next and the next and the next, all right. All right, Nikki, well, we see that you're a good mum. Just accept my explanation. That is the way it is. We can't shut her up. We've got the runs in the family.
Starting point is 00:31:50 if Britt's ever sick let's get Nikki on love you mum love you Nikki we should get her on she can fill in same laugh the same laugh man
Starting point is 00:31:59 it's exactly the same we got to the bottom of it there you go yeah poor dad though she did say because mum takes two to tango I don't know if you quite clocked on there though
Starting point is 00:32:07 she did say the first one is special and then you have the third and the fourth one which would insinuate that the fourth one is not particularly special I know
Starting point is 00:32:14 she kind of did prove your point Britt Yeah.
