Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut.
I'm Laura.
I'm Brittany.
And I'm Mitch.
And this is our radio show, which we do every week,
and we package up all the best bits and put it right here
for anyone who missed the pick-up.
Yeah, and Mitch is, I don't know what you're hiring us up for, Mitch.
Where do you need to get to?
Mitch is like, can we wrap this?
He needs to get to his weekend.
He's got a life.
Oh, it's because you've seen his situation-ship.
No, but we can't call him that.
We're not a situation-ship anymore.
Yeah, it's boyfriend.
No situation-ship.
Well, you haven't officially said that on air.
Yeah, oh, you're saying his name?
Stephen.
Are we allowed to say his name?
Yeah, say his name.
You call him Stefan.
Can you tell me?
I always call him Stefan.
boyfriend for literally eight months you have been referring to him as a situationship and
somewhere along the line something shifted and you started calling him your boyfriend but you
didn't actually tell us that and so now when we call him the situationship you get annoyed at us
well here's the thing i just his parents his parents listen to everything and the truth is
his parents heard it and were like you've been with our son for eight months did they say that
make up your mind yeah did they you got in trouble from the pair well no the truth is that his mum
would i would text his parents right it's been eight months like i met the family i love the
family they're amazing did they really call you out and say yeah well it's been 12 months really
since i left my last long term that has gone so fast i know i had a couple months of you know
fun as you were all across and then i was like no i'm a relationship boy so i know the parents
whatever so i've been texting them and they've just been heart reacting and thumb reacting so
i said to steven i'm like oh well they're just kind of reacting it's like oh well they kind of
hear what you say and you know he's referring to a situation ship i'm like oh shit so i thought
about what i wanted and um we basically were boyfriends we see each other all the time so
we just made it we just put a label on it you know i was gonna do it anyway but i hate upsetting
people so the fact that they thought that i was in any way shape or form disrespecting it yeah
100 which i don't want to do so they don't want just a situation sharing their son's single bed
at their house so no that that's exactly or talking about the life and the family do you
know what also like it happens to people where you get into relationships and we say situationships
where you meet the parents and then you're like you're like why am i meeting the parents when
we're not actually committed like this is so weird but also i think about it from a parent perspective
why the hell would they want to invest in someone who's saying that they're in a situation like why
are they going to invest time in you and energy into you can i ask how did the moment happen
because like you know one of the common questions is how do you have that conversation do you have
the conversation does it just happen organically did you bring it up yeah it was i'm a big grand
gestures guy and he really likes grand gestures so i had been had i was planning something i had
a big reveal planned but it was actually well here's the thing right and i've spoken to you
guys about this privately but my last relationship was like i don't know i think my issue was and
i've spoken at length with my therapist but i was romanticizing it right like i wanted it to
be a fairy tale so everything was built around grand gestures you loved the potential of it
100 and that's why i stayed for so long but in this one i'm like i just want it to be real and
raw that's why i wasn't putting a label on it i'm like i'm enjoying it i was kind of just stuck in
it which is really nice um we were in the shower and we just had a uh we went on a weekend away
and he was with my family met the family got along with the family great we just played a board game
um we went for a bushwalk and then we went for a walk in the the um property then we had a shower
together which was cute and then he's like you know it's been eight months i was like god it's
been eight months i'm like that's crazy he's like yeah eight months and you know and you still call
me a situation he said he said eight months and you're you've taken your situation ship away to
meet your whole family and i was like that's true i'm like well it would sound better if it was
boyfriend he's like i'd like that i'm like i'd like that and he's like if i'd like it
it gives me all the goosebumps and i'm so happy for you it's nice and also does stefan know that
i i call him stefan because i nickname everyone i can never call anyone by the name i feel sorry
for the guy because he has not vetoed that nickname so it just sounds like you're saying
his name wrong it does sound he does he thinks you just don't know he actually loves brit no
offense to you laura because he's i speak to him no he's no no he's in health like he's in
healthcare. I don't want to out him. But he
like, because Britt, what were you again? You worked in the
radiography? Don't act like
you don't know me. I don't. Radiography. Yes.
He works in similar departments. He was like, oh, do you
think Britt knows this? And I know that like he just likes that
element. There's like a bond. Not yet.
A healthcare work bond. Well, I would like to meet
him and then maybe he'll realise who's the superior
person. 100%. That's not Laura. He'll fall
for you, Laura. He'll know it's Britt.
No, but I'm very happy. So anyway, I'm
he's living interstate. He's
six hours away from Sydney. So I'm driving
up to see him. So I've got to go so I can see him.
Yes, okay.
Well, let's tell you what's on the show.
We're speaking to the Bachelor Jimmy.
You know he's a pilot.
Yeah, Holly's husband, Jimmy.
Holly's husband, Jimmy.
You guys probably remember him from The Bachelor.
They were that beautiful couple.
You guys remember him from Batch on Cart where I used to call him Pilot Jimmy.
That was it.
He was also at the live show with us, remember?
He was in the audience and then we called him up.
Yeah, he's the best.
They're great sports, but we had some questions around pilots
because there's a couple of pilots that have been falling asleep on the job
and I just don't think it's on.
So I wanted to get to the bottom of it with Jimmy.
Do you know what we should have asked him about?
We should ask him about all the Boeings falling out of the air.
Have you seen all those articles?
It's wild.
The doors being sucked off.
Well, no, apparently there was doors that were put on,
but they didn't actually put screws in.
They just rested a door on there.
I think they put double-sided tape.
Big hair fall because the person who was the whistleblower died.
Anyway, we didn't talk to him about that.
I saw that.
That's a whole other thing to unpack.
I saw that.
Another day.
I, on the show today, had a mortifying experience here at KISS FM
at the radio station.
I exposed myself to a co-worker and had to work my way out of it.
Accidentally.
You can't just keep saying you're flashing people.
You accidentally exposed yourself.
Did I? I said that, didn't I?
Was it an accident? I don't know.
Who knows? You'll have to listen to find out, baby.
And as for me, well, Mitch brought a very fun game this week
and it was all around the days, the international days of the year.
I don't even know what you call it.
Because we just had Women's Day.
Everything has a day.
Well, it was International Women's Day, you guys know,
and on the show we discovered that it was also International Spiders Day.
And I just think that why are the spiders getting as much time
and airtime as what women are?
And why does everything have a fucking day?
And so I like that everything has a day.
No, I don't.
Happy International Donut Day.
No one cares.
Yes, they do.
Happy International Desk Day.
Happy International I Have a Computer Day.
That exists.
It's April 12th.
Probably dark.
Anyway, let's get into the show.
I had a lovely weekend away with my gorgeous family, girls.
And it was like my full family.
It was aunties, uncles, cousins.
I did see that.
It looked magnificent.
I know.
I'm jealous.
It looked like a beautiful weekend away.
We had a beautiful Airbnb.
It was actually show-stopping and gorgeous.
Show-stopping.
No, it was.
It was a farm property, like a farm scale.
And the show was stopped.
Yeah.
The what?
The show was stopped.
Oh, the show was stopped.
Yeah, it was show stopping.
Yeah, fully stopped.
So did my heart.
Because it was this farm property, right, with horses,
and there was a sheep in the back garden, right?
It was a porcelain sheep.
It wasn't real.
So you stayed in a petting zoo for the weekend.
Essentially, yeah.
And we brought all our animals.
We brought our dogs.
And we all have little Cavoodles.
There's three little Cavoodles in the family.
One is really small.
Her name's Penny.
She's the youngest of all the Cavoodles.
She's probably two.
Actually, it was her birthday.
She's a tiny little thing.
Little Penny.
Yeah, well, Penny ran.
We love her.
So we all walk down to the local town to get some coffees,
and it's a beautiful blue sky.
We leave the dogs in the backyard, full fenced in, green garden,
so they can run and they can have fun.
We're in the middle of the country here.
We're walking back from the cafe.
We all have a coffee, and we can sort of see the property.
We go, there it is.
That's our house.
We're walking back.
Stop the show.
There it is.
We're so lucky.
We're so gorgeous.
And then really in the distance we go, God, look at that.
The bird circling the property.
That's quite gorgeous, isn't it?
Majestic.
Majestic.
We go, get the camera out.
That's a cockatiel.
We sort of get the binoculars and we zoom in with our camera.
That's not a cockatiel.
That's got talons the size of a horse.
We then look at its beak hooked in.
It's an eagle.
An eagle or a hawk?
Well, birds of feather.
Birds of feather flock together.
Dear God, think of Penny.
That's what we think.
We go, wait, the dogs are in the background.
We look at this hawk.
It's circling like a shark.
It can't pick up a dog.
Yes, it can.
How big is a dog?
Penny, it's a little poodle.
It's so small.
What happened? I don't know
I thought they just got rabbits and little cats
and things. No, no, no, so we look up and we go
is that really a hawk? Yeah, we hear it
That's what it sounds like. So that's a seagull
No, no, over to the CSIRO, that's the audio
of the hawk and the breed. That is a seagull
No, it's not, it's a seahawk
We go, oh my god, I put my phone out
because I went, the girls won't believe me because you go
you're an embellisher, you're an embellisher
So this is the moment we spotted the hawk circling Penny
No, it's going for Penny
No, I'm not joking
Oh, my God, it is.
Oh, my goodness.
Mum, grab Penny.
He went, don't get in between me and my meal.
Penny.
Stop it, Penny.
Penny, no.
Mitch.
No, I'm still thinking.
Penny.
So this hawk is spinning in the sky.
You're still an embellisher.
No, I'm not.
It circles down and down.
I'm not lying.
It gets within three metres of Penny.
I clap my hands.
My cousins are getting flashes on their phone.
Penny, meanwhile, is supposed to add boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Yeah, Penny's like in the Hunger Games, dodging and running and jumping.
Did Penny have any idea what's going on or was she just happy to be there?
Oh, those caboodles.
They're beautifully bred, but God, they're dumb.
Poodles are the smartest dog.
No, that's right.
Poodles are really smart.
Of course it's right.
Cocker Spaniels, on the other hand.
Oh, yeah, no, no.
So we scare this hawk away.
It looks me in the eyes and I go, not today, hawk.
I look at it right in the eyes.
Anyway, we shoo him, we scare him, we grab Penny and we run inside.
And genuinely, we almost lost her life.
Oh, my God, I'm just saying such a ridiculous story.
But it's one of those things that happens on a family trip
that almost ruins it.
You know, like you then go inside and you all kind of sit at the table
and you all talk about it for hours.
What a close contact.
Like what a close call that was.
Didn't you already, Mitch, lose, you lost your pet hamster when you,
like years ago because a hawk took it from your backyard?
Why would you bring up Patch?
Patch was taken in front of Mitch's eyes by a backyard seahawk.
I saw that, a seahawk.
Okay, because you've already experienced it.
Okay, what's the possibility that you're going to have two animals
in your lifetime snatched by a hawk in the backyard?
I think this is the trauma just reliving itself.
It was just a duck flying around.
Not again.
I was nine.
And you know how guinea pigs whimper?
Oh, don't.
That's devastating.
That's too far.
Too far.
I lost Patch.
Anyway, the holiday was ruined.
Have you had a holiday ruined by any hawks or animals?
No, we had a holiday ruined by Gastro once.
Gastro?
Oh, Gastro.
It was my mother-in-law's 70th birthday.
We went away to Stradbroke Island and every single person
in a very small Airbnb got gastro and there was not enough toilets
to accommodate what went down.
So everyone was doing it at the same time.
Everyone.
There was gastro on the walls and the floor and the ceiling.
It was, anyway, it was grim.
I ruined a holiday with me and my sister Sherry.
So this sounds wild, but I broke my foot chasing wild pigs
in the Amazon jungle.
Oh, my God.
And because I couldn't, because I broke it in the jungle,
I couldn't walk.
My sister had to put me – I'm not kidding.
She's half my size.
She had to put me on her shoulders and she hiked me out of the Amazon.
Britt, what were you going to do when your cat caught a wild pig?
Like there's more to that story that makes no sense.
What were you going to do?
I was chasing wild pigs in the Amazon.
Because they run along as an embellisher.
What's going on, Britt?
Everybody's worst nightmare, I'm speaking on behalf of everybody,
happened the last couple of days.
When you get on a plane, you freak out as much as – like already, right?
You're like, okay, we're in a bus in the air.
You hit turbulence.
You could plummet.
It's very morbid.
It's scary.
But it is.
It's scary, right?
You are literally floating around the air.
Well, two pilots are in big trouble.
Have you heard of Batik Air?
It's an Indonesian airline.
No, I haven't.
No, I haven't.
Oh, my God.
Have you?
I have, actually, but I'm never going to fly with them.
Absolute chaos.
their their flight completely veered off path because the two pilots fell asleep for 28 minutes
for 28 minutes that's not even a cat nap no that's a full sleep they're in rem sleep
they had a proper sleep that it was not on the correct flight path anymore that's how people
became aware of it going yeah and so it it came out that one of the pilots apparently has like
one-month-old twins, and was up through the night.
He's exhausted, the poor guy, I understand.
Not an excuse.
I understand.
That's why men need paternity leave.
Yeah, equal rights for everyone.
That's where this is going.
That's what this is petitioning for.
That's what this is about.
No, but also, Britt, the way that you just said this,
if you're not frightened of flying, you will be now.
100%.
Everyone, you're all screwed.
And if you're still not, you're going to be in a second.
Listen to this.
I went and looked up some statistics to back this up.
Yeah.
A 2013 British study found that 56% of commercial pilots
admitted to sleeping while flying so more than half of pilots have fallen asleep while hang on
laura whilst in charge of a plane and of that 56 percent 29 so that they had woken up to find that
their other pilot was also asleep that's scary that is insanity i don't believe okay when i
sometimes hear these types of um research studies and thing and things i'm like why wouldn't you
just lie like at that point in your career if you're falling asleep at the because it's anonymous
just no i would take that to the grave you could not there's nothing you could do to get that out
of me i have never tortured that out of me if i was a pilot no it's important they say that because
maybe they are being overworked and not giving enough breaks maybe they need this data to be
able to say okay maybe we are backing them up too much on these long haul flights now isn't it a
case like when you're a pilot isn't so much of it automated when you actually get up in the air you
don't have to do a lot of stuff so maybe maybe it's just boring for them and they're all like
I'll have a little cat nap now.
Laura, I'd love to see you fly an Airbus.
No, you know what I've learned about recently?
That in the first 10 minutes of the flight,
pilots are not allowed to talk about anything other than flight chat.
It is illegal.
So you are not allowed to have gossip about your weekend,
about your snack, about the side piece you're getting with.
You have to hit 10,000 feet and then all of a sudden gossip can start.
And that's because if the plane goes down,
the black box recording would just be gossip and they'd be like,
that's why it crashed because they're talking about maths.
Talking about what happened on the weekend.
Okay, I have another.
Now I feel like we're getting into pilot conspiracies,
but I have another one.
Yeah, I've got more.
So apparently if you – so you do everything in a sequence
and if you forget a step or you get mixed up,
you've got to go back to the start and redo the whole sequence again
because our brains, if you get interrupted,
you're not good at picking up from where you left off,
so you have to do the whole thing from the beginning.
I may be making stuff up here.
It's very, very possible.
Do we – and he has no pilots.
Didn't you date a pilot, Britt?
No.
Yes, I did.
Well, no.
No, you didn't date him.
you just matched with him on tinder no i online dated him are we talking about the guy from the
bachelor jimmy no we just we just matched but bachelor jimmy why don't we get bachelor jimmy
on he can answer our deep dark burning pilot questions is he a pilot he's still a pilot so
he yeah jimmy was like he was the number eight bachelor or something and then he went back to
being a pilot he was number nine but he just he just upgraded he was like flying i don't know
the terminology here, he was flying smaller planes
and just in the last week or two he got his licence
after like months of studying and tests
and now he flies the big boy plane.
The big boy bus in the sky.
No, he's on his black, it's like a black licence now.
Do you know, I want to know if these types of things,
like people falling asleep when they're flying planes,
is specific to certain airlines because I'll avoid those.
I know, Jimmy, I'll just call him.
Let's call him.
We've been doing a bit of due diligence around a story
that's going viral about two pilots on Batik Air
that fell asleep simultaneously while they were flying 158 people,
which seems inconceivable.
Like you have one job, probably to stay awake and fly the plane.
But it made me wonder, how common is this?
So we thought, who better to ask than our very own Bachelor Australia,
Jimmy Nicholson.
He's a pilot.
He's on the line.
I think he's overseas flying around somewhere now.
Jimmy, welcome to The Pickup.
Hello, guys.
How are you going?
We're good.
But also, I need to know, have you ever –
you're not going to be able to answer this, honestly, though.
So there's a study that says 56% of pilots have admitted
to falling asleep whilst flying a plane, but not –
She wants to know if you sleep on the plane.
But I know that you're not going to say yes.
You're going to say no.
I can't confirm or deny whether this story was me,
but I do have a story that might shine some light
on this particular topic.
So there was a – there may or may not have been a first officer –
two pilots flying together one day.
and one of them looked over and realised that the other one was asleep.
There's a few scenarios on board airplanes that will get your attention
if you're a pilot, and the main one is any fire.
Any fire-related thing, it'll wake you up because it's the worst thing
that can happen on an airplane.
And, in fact, I've been training in Abu Dhabi for the last month,
learning to fly a new airplane, and I put a little thing on my Instagram
of an in-flight fire, and people were like, what the hell is this?
What is that sound and everything?
So it's basically the fire alarm of either a cargo fire or an engine fire.
So in this scenario, one of the pilots noticed the other bloke was asleep
and so they decided we can do a test on the fire system in flight,
which you don't normally do, but you can do it.
Oh, this is cool.
And maybe that particular pilot did an in-flight test on the fire system
which scared the living daylights out of the other person who was asleep.
so yes it does happen um there's actually a thing called controlled rest which is completely
legal and normal where one pilot will be asleep in the flight deck which seems really weird but
it's done all around the world where you can actually it's controlled rest so you tell the
cabin crew you're going to be sleeping one of you not both of you and yeah you can sleep in the
flight deck it's completely it's completely legal not many people know about it and most passengers
would probably be scared to hear that but it happens so true so i so this is possible they
fell asleep both pilots fell asleep for over 30 minutes and the plane veered off course so is that
we did autopilot turn off what would have happened jimmy that's not great um the whole premise of
control of controlled rest is that you say to the other person you're flying with hey
are you feeling all right i might do some controlled rest and then you can do it but
in that scenario no not great we all know what it's like on a long car trip though when like
the person in the passenger seat you don't both fall asleep no well no of course not but when
the passenger falls asleep and then you're really bored and you're just trying to keep awake and
even when you're doing that like you're constantly having to think when you're driving but if you're
a pilot is there enough of it being like on literal autopilot that you don't have to be
doing things every second so it might get quite boring up there in the sky maybe they're all
playing candy crush how auto is autopilot it it totally does and laurie hit the nail on the head
it gets very boring when you're in the cruise there isn't much to do the most like when you're
taking off and landing in a cruise you're quite literally i mean unless there's weather around
or whatever, but on a nice day, a nice night,
you just sort of sit there and stare out the window.
So you can't get bored.
That's why we do the controlled rest.
But you're supposed to do it on the premise
that the other person's feeling all right.
I mean, I flew Britt and Ben back from a holiday destination recently
and that was a back-of-the-clock flight.
And, I mean, what would you rather, Britt?
Would you rather one of us sleeping at some stage
so that we both feel alert or would you rather us both there
staring out the window with our eyes hanging out of our heads?
I would rather eye on the prize, to be honest.
I just want someone awake.
I just want someone awake.
Like as long as one person is awake.
On that note, thank you, Jimmy.
God, that's so insightful.
What a genius.
So in the songs, we're, you know, on the air here at the pickup
and we were playing some songs.
We were playing the traffic and I went, girls, I'm going to duck to the loo.
You ran off to the toilet.
You've got a very finite time to get it done in this world.
You said you were going to poop yourself.
Curry you ate last night?
No, I was going to wee.
You had curry last night?
I didn't have curry last night.
It was a simple wee.
I also do much more than you do.
I press all the buttons on the show, you know.
We need you.
You can't be not here when the song's finished.
So I rush off.
I'm in the new era of baggy pants.
Baggy pants are in.
So I'm wearing these big baggy pants.
I'm also in the era of putting my iPhone in my back pocket.
Because when you wear your pants high-waisted,
your side pockets are a bit too high.
They're kind of on your hips.
And your pants, they're very big.
Yeah, they're big and baggy.
As in like they're like the shape of the bottom.
The bell-bottoms.
Bell-bottom jeans, correct.
The bell-bottom jeans.
So I have my iPhone, the big iPhone Pro Max,
like it's the heavy one, in my back right pocket, right?
I go to the bathroom.
I'm kind of in a rush because we're on air.
So I rush in there.
I walk in and I see that Brian, he works here at the radio station.
He's actually like a – he's an executive.
He's a big dog.
Yeah, he's got a desk with a glass window in front of it.
Yeah.
He's powerful.
So I rush up.
He's in the far left urinal.
There's three urinals, left, middle, right.
The middle one's empty.
So kind of like guy etiquette, all the men listening know,
if there's a spare in the middle, you're all good to go on the right-hand side one
because it's kind of you've got that free space in the middle.
You're not going to look.
So you'd never go and choose the middle.
you'd never urinate right next to someone if there was an option not to.
Is that like the unspoken rule?
Of course.
Do you wait for people to finish at the urinal or do you –
Yeah, you wait.
You join a line.
Or if there's a cubicle, you go in the cubicle.
So you just would – you would wait in a line.
You wouldn't go to the middle one if there was someone else.
Yeah.
Oh, my – if there was –
So what if – hang on.
If there's three urinal spots, because this is really interesting,
if there's three urinal spots and there's a person on either side
and you've walked in, you would rather wait than use it even though it's free.
Okay.
There's nuance to this.
not in a public didn't think this is where we go with this not in a public bathroom fascinated
not in a workplace bathroom because you know everyone you don't want to see each other's
members and it's a bit off yeah but you kind of see in the periphery we're humans we've got
to go on you just don't it's just it's men rules you just don't so anyway it was free on the right
so i went i'm going to use it so i walk up i'll show you what i did so i walk up to the right
side urinal and i'm in a rush why can't i go hi mate he goes hi buddy he's still looking straight
ahead i unbutton my pants like i pop the top i pull my fly down and they're actually the little
button pops they're like snap pops you know it's not a fly and as soon as i pull the fourth button
down on my pants the weight of my iphone pulls my dax straight to the ground like i'm doing right
now i'm standing you don't need to do you don't need to show us with my don't need to be no he's
doing it stand up and have a look it's got her pants on my pants you stood there at the urinal
or holding yourself but with your pants in a pool
around your ankles, all of your pants.
My ankles, my pants are at my ankles like I'm a toddler
at a Westfield bathroom.
Did you pick them up?
No, because what, then my face is going to go in the trough?
So you just took your pants off next to your boss?
They fell down to my ankles.
And you owned it?
And he looked because he heard it.
It was a commotion because my iPhone hits the tile,
bang on the ground, and then I just pretend
that that's kind of something that I do.
So my cute little butt cheeks are just poking out of the back.
I've got my member in my hand.
He's still going, you know, because I clearly have prostate issues.
He's taken ages.
I'm like, when is he going to hurry up?
Brian, don't out-pronounce a prostate.
I've got a youthful prostate, so mine's done before he is.
So what I have to do is, Laura, I have to then, you're right, bend down.
So I bend down.
You do like an awkward squat so you don't put your face in first.
But it's one of those smart urinals which has a sensor,
so it senses my face.
So it goes, so I get backsplash on my face and I go, oh, shit.
I kind of like fall over and my knees are all pulled.
So I pull my pants up and then I run out and I haven't spoken to him since.
I don't know what he saw.
Okay, in that moment, if something happens, I know it's awkward,
but you just say, you make a joke about it.
That's literally your job.
Hang on.
Can someone get Brian?
Is someone out there getting Brian?
No, don't get Brian.
No, because you should have just said, oh, I'm so sorry, how embarrassing.
You can at least now tell him that you don't stand at a urinal
and pull your pants down around your ankles like a child.
No, it was one of those situations that was so mortifying
that I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
So I did.
It literally just happened.
My hands, they're still dripping.
Look, they're wet.
Don't bring that near me.
Where is he?
I don't know.
Should we get Brian?
I mean, we can see what Brian saw.
We can ask his thoughts.
If you're just tuning in, moments ago I flashed myself to a co-worker during the pickup.
I went to the bathroom in the break.
You need to say accidentally.
Oh, yeah.
You didn't just walk out and be like, oh, I wonder how he's going to respond to this.
No, what happened was I went to the bathroom in a rush because I'm live on air and I press
all the buttons here at the show and i pulled my pants down and they fell straight to my ankles
and if a man's ever men will relate to this if you've ever been to a westfield public bathroom
and you see like a toddler there with his dad at the trough and they're like holding hands with
his little peachy butt out that was me my pants were at my ankles next to brian who works here
at the radio station in a senior level position but what's weirder about this is that you had
every opportunity at that point to say make a joke or be like oh my pants are down but you didn't i
You've just pretended that that's what you always do.
Now Brian thinks you're that weird.
Brian, come in.
We've got Brian.
Hi, Brian.
Can't you hear me?
The way that he's looking at me now is weird.
Jump on air here.
We've got a microphone for you here.
Hi, Brian.
Great to see you again.
Why were you looking at my crotch when you said that, Brian?
Brian, what happened?
Okay, wait.
What happened?
Well, business was being conducted and there was young Mitchell
with pants around his ankles.
The bleaching's working well, by the way.
Keep going.
You're a life of shade.
Thank you.
Yes, it's new.
The girls have directed me in their clinic, and it's been really great.
Did you think that this is just how he always goes to the toilet?
Like, was that your instant reaction?
I couldn't help but overhear that you were saying that, you know,
this is what those little kids do, and I thought, man,
this kid has not grown up.
He's one of those boys who still pulls his pants all the way down.
In every way possible.
And I'm surprised you weren't lifting your shirt.
The shirt up, I know, yeah, and holding my dad's hand on the right.
No, Brian, because it was the weight of the phone that pulled my pants
to my ankles and you looked because the thud of my phone hit the tile
and then you kind of looked to think what was that
and I saw your brain process, oh, he's got his pants at his ankles.
He's naked in the workplace.
So then you kind of darted forward, which was very respectful.
Well, I thought with the sound that I heard, I thought,
jeez, Mitch is doing quite well for himself.
Yeah, what was the thud?
You have to stand way back.
I get it.
Okay, so you're not offended.
I apologise if I did upset you.
No, you can't offend me.
Don't worry about it.
Brian, can I ask you something?
He's done more than he wanted to, though.
If you walk into a men's urinal and there's three spots to do your business.
Are you testing me here on what the etiquette is?
Yeah, you tested me too.
So we tested Mitch.
So it's not a, there's no right or wrong, but we want to know as women.
No, there is a right or wrong.
If there's three spots and one man is on one side,
one man is on the other side, and then there's a space in the middle,
if you then enter and you really need to go,
do you use the space in the middle or do you have to wait?
Okay, is there a stall available?
There isn't.
There's not?
In my hypothetical.
If I really, really need to go, then you have to choose it, yes.
But then do the two people on either side think you're a bit weird,
that you didn't just wait?
No, because we're all aware of the etiquette.
Exactly right.
So they know that you're busting.
So if you've broken the etiquette, they know that there must be a reason.
Can I just ask, who teaches you this etiquette?
Because this is the first time I'm ever learning about this.
It's evolutionary biology that's sort of built into us.
Yeah.
It'll never be not weird to me as a female that this is how men go
to the toilet.
Like we're not sitting in there with the doors open when we go
to the bathroom.
Like everything is in private.
It doesn't happen.
It is strange.
Whereas you guys, you walk in next to your co-worker and just stand
there with your pants around your ankles and it's pretty normal.
No, that's not the norm.
That's definitely not the norm.
I have to ask the question.
So when are you going to your next music festival?
Because you will have to try out the She-Wees.
Oh, I've heard about this.
I actually went to a rave last night but didn't take a shiwi with me.
This is actually going way better than planned.
I should have gotten a shiwi.
I don't know if I'm reading the room right,
but I feel like Brian and I have some chemistry.
Yes.
I don't know if Brian agrees, but...
Well, Brian, I think you're not offended.
You were getting fired, Mitch.
That's where we're heading to with this.
Oh, really?
This is disciplinary action.
He did actually say that after the experience, Mitch came in,
he said, I think it went well.
I'm going to ask Brian for a pay rise.
And?
Yes, you're getting a raise.
Yay!
Well, not that kind of racism.
It's very different.
Thank you, Brian.
Sorry, back to your desk.
I'm going to go to the bathroom.
Yeah, okay.
Thanks, Brian.
If you need Brian, you can find him in any public cubicle.
So if you missed the show last week, Laura had a revelation on you
that she wouldn't shut up about.
I mean, she found out that spiders have –
It was an outrage.
She was outraged because spiders have a day of the year,
International Spider Awareness Day.
Which is today.
Happy Spider Day.
Happy Spider Day.
Thank God.
Are we going to take as much time to celebrate the spiders
at what we do, International Women's Day.
Spiders get cupcakes.
Okay, this is what happened.
I have an update.
Yeah.
I was also doing some Googling while you were talking.
In six days' time, on March 14th,
there is actually a day dedicated to spiders.
Oh.
There's a spider day.
International Spider Day.
It's called Save a Spider Day.
There really is a day for everything.
The only thing I want to say about that, Britt,
going back to the one day of spiders.
I think we're done with it.
No.
We're done.
One more thing.
We're going home.
Why do the spiders get as much time as women?
It's International Women's Day and the spiders get an International Spiders Day.
Because they're females too, Laura.
Yeah, I mean, we were all excited.
No, I stand by this.
Okay, why has spiders got a day?
And why are we talking about spiders on International Women's Day?
Because everything has a day.
Every living creature deserves a day.
Can I say, if there was a spider in my roof and I knew it was a woman,
I'd hesitate killing it.
Only on International Women's Day, though.
If it was a male spider, I'd go, you bastard.
But if that was a mum, it's true.
You're so fool.
I've had a little hat on.
So what I did, let me just tell you what I did.
But not all days are created equal, can we say that?
Well, no, and I think this segment that I've created will put that to the test
because I have found some more international days
and it's your job, girls, to tell me whether or not they're real or fake.
Oh, these days are so stupid.
There is literally a celebration for everything.
Correct, you need to lock in.
They're as stupid as this music.
Like International Donut Day.
Lock it in.
Yes, that's day of the year.
I'll say no, that day of the year doesn't exist, Mitch.
That's what I want from you, okay?
All right.
Are we going against each other or are we working together for this?
We're working together.
though. We don't want to pit each other against each other.
Let's just decide together. That would be international pitting each other
against each other day. Is World
Juggling Day real?
Yeah, for sure. Yeah. It is for sure.
There's heaps of jugglers out there. It's very stupid.
Think of all the circuses and stuff. They need a day.
Okay, yes. It is correct, yes.
Come on! It's so
dumb. Someone think of the jugglers.
World Juggling Day is held annually on Saturday
closest to June 17th.
So whatever Saturday is closest.
Why did you know that, Britt?
Because I used to actually juggle.
You're a liar.
Did you know the earliest record of juggling actually dates back
to the 15th century in Egypt?
So it is a day that deserves celebrating.
Okay.
What about Penguin Awareness Day?
Oh, a hundy.
Not a hundy.
They're so stupid.
They're going extinct, those little things.
Okay.
Penguins are the cutest creatures in the world.
There's definitely a day dedicated to them.
Yes, I think that there's a Penguin Awareness Day.
Well, Gen 20 is International Penguin Awareness Day.
It's real.
The day aims to bring international focus on the conservation of penguin habitats.
Do you reckon there's a seagull day?
I don't have that on my paper.
Do you know, do you want an animal fact?
I love animal facts.
When penguins are trying to find their partner,
the male goes and finds the perfect stone on the beach that's smooth and beautiful.
And when he thinks it's the right stone, pebble,
he picks it up and he takes it to the female he wants to propose to.
Can you save this for Gen 20?
Britt's really into Gen 20.
It's her favourite day of the year.
Save this for Gen 20, mate.
No, I'm into animals.
Okay, well, one day of the year for the penguins.
Anyway, it's not today.
The stingray had its babies.
Move on.
International eat ice cream for breakfast day.
Nah.
Oh, you know what?
It probably is, but we have to say no.
I'm going to say no.
It's not real.
International eat ice cream for breakfast day.
You are wrong.
It is a day of the year.
I was going to say, you know what?
If it isn't a day, we should make it.
It is.
Because I care more about that than I do about the spiders.
The first Saturday of February, the day was created in the 1960s
by a woman named Floris Rappaport as a way to entertain her child
on a cold and snowy morning in New York.
A brilliant idea took root and has now become a holiday
celebrated by tens of people around the world.
That was such a boring, irrelevant fact.
Can you move on?
It's my game, thank you very much.
International Brittany Hockley Day doesn't exist.
Yes, it does.
It's her birthday.
August 21st.
I was going to say September again.
Damn it, I always get your birthday wrong.
Does this holiday exist?
International Give Your Aunt a Hug Day.
No, that is not real.
Although we should all think of our aunts every so often.
I reckon it's so ridiculous that I'll go, I think it's real.
Oh, wrong.
It doesn't exist.
We fooled you.
That's so stupid.
We fooled you.
Who's we, Mitch?
Me and producer Grace got asked thinking about this.
Was it hard to make up a day?
Really tough, actually.
And then did you search that that day actually didn't exist?
We had to Google.
We had to call the International Day Association.
Do you know what there should be?
There should be International Be Kind to a Vet Day.
Because vets have it the toughest, I reckon.
There probably is.
Oh, God, don't get on your bandwagon.
Maybe it's on the same day as the penguins.
Everyone deserves a day.
We'll be right back.
