Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia
and their connections to land, sea and community.
We pay our respect to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
This episode is recorded on Gadigal land of the Aurora Nation.
Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut.
I'm Laura.
I'm Brittany.
I'm Mitch.
Mitch, you're just sitting there with your full dinner.
It's not dinner, it's lunch and I didn't want to point it out.
I've noticed that Mitch always waits to like the crucial moments
we're about to record and then puts like a whole chicken in his mouth
and I'm like, why would you do that when we're just about to record?
Hey, try not to.
Sometimes if you listen back to the pick up,
you can hear that I do have a nut in my mouth
and I'll start with the nut under my tongue
and then when Laura and Britt are on like a monologue,
I'll just crunch it softly.
And that's just his boyfriend.
Sorry.
Too far.
I don't have a boyfriend.
Laura, it's a situationship.
So if you're going to comment on it.
It's a situationship.
It's not my boyfriend.
Okay, sorry.
I'm in a loving situationship.
If you go to my latest photo dump, slide nine is him for reveal.
Mitch is in a loving, committed, monogamous situationship.
I also, Mitch put a photo dump up of ten photos.
Slide nine was the situationship.
So I commented, hard launch, like being a nerd, like a friend.
You know those friends that just annoying hard launch.
And he literally messaged me, he goes, delete that immediately.
So I had to go and delete it.
Why?
You obviously launched him.
People are not dumb.
He's in his dickies.
Also, you can't just put, you can't put him just at the very end.
You can't be like, here's 10 photos.
Here's a carousel of my wig.
And it doesn't matter where you put them.
Like, it doesn't matter if you sneak it in at number nine.
People, nine or two, people still go through and see that it's in there.
No, but it was a hidden, it was also a soft launch, not a hard launch.
It was hard.
He's eating dickies.
No.
You've said that twice now.
That's what they're called, like Speedos.
No, who calls them dickies?
No one calls them dickies.
It's a Port Macquarie, it's a mid-north coast thing.
Of course it is.
He was, he looks so cute.
He's a little dickie, oh, he's cute.
You know, dickies are called dick stickers, right?
I know dick stickers and I know speedos.
That's what a dickie is.
Dickie's colloquial for the colloquial dick sticker.
But I haven't heard of dickies.
I've heard budgie smugglers.
Yeah.
So does he know he's only a situationship?
He's not a situationship.
It's just we haven't made that final boyfriend term yet
because I don't want to be that person that goes straight back
into another relationship within a year of my big long term.
Just because you say, I don't want to get into a relationship,
but if you're exclusive, like it's monogamous, you're committed,
you're posting photos of each other, you see each other every week,
every day you're calling each other every day you're texting every day just because you don't
call him your boyfriend doesn't mean he's not your boyfriend a hundred percent he's your boyfriend
wow anyway look i do forget that i work with life uncut like i we're here to lecture you yeah no no
not lecture but it's going to be picked apart did you get him a valentine's day present that's a big
question yeah because where'd you get him 12 red roses did you did you really yeah what's wrong
with that did you get them nothing's wrong do you get them delivered like i hand delivered them
That's really cute.
I'm romantic at heart.
My last relationship, we didn't really celebrate.
We got a cinnamon roll last V-Day.
That's cool, though.
I like a cinnamon roll.
Yeah, I mean, I'm all for like a relaxed Valentine's Day.
Matt and I, we're not big on presents.
We don't often do them.
And something that we talked about on the show this week is we talked about how Vodafone
brought out these like, I don't know, they did like an investigation into the different
types of sexting that people do or the way in which people kind of like, you know, talk
to each other on Valentine's Day and the statistics around it.
And then we unpacked how we feel about Dirty Talk,
which was very weird for a 3 p.m. time slot on the radio.
But what got even weirder was that the two of you made me Dirty Talk
sext Matt live.
Live on the air.
It was viscerally uncomfortable for everyone involved.
Genuinely, Matt and I are so far past the Dirty Talk phase
of our relationship.
I've not sent that man a dirty message in years.
I still don't think you've sent him a dirty message.
You look at Britt and I and I think you go, yeah,
they got game in the bedroom.
A hundie.
You'd look at me and think that for sure.
Like, you want a harness?
You want a tie?
No, you would.
That's the first thought.
You look at me and you're like, she gets down dirty.
No, I just think you'd be open to different things.
Where Laura, you'd be like, missionary.
Wait, you look at me and you think missionary?
Guys, this is so offensive.
No, no, no.
Down with dog and reverse cowgirl.
You'd be into the basics.
She doesn't reverse.
I've done the basics.
What's reverse cowgirl?
How does it work?
It's facing the other way.
Facing backwards.
Facing the toes.
It's a 180.
You do a 180.
Guys, fucking hell.
I've lived a life before I got with Matt, okay?
We don't need to go into details.
I don't need to prove anything.
Can you tell us about the car bonnet?
Lay down on the ground, bitch.
No, no, no, no.
Okay, that's right.
He's in a monogamous relationship.
I forgot.
Speaking of my monogamous situationship,
I showed bits of my loving situationship to the Apple Store employee.
I accidentally opened my hidden folder in Apple
and the reaction was bad.
It was not a good moment.
So I talk about that.
We have all been there.
I can 100% say that.
The thing is, is like when we do this,
because obviously it's the radio show,
we do have to sometimes be a little bit sensitive in what we say.
And the part of your story that was truly the funniest part,
which couldn't be shared, was what was shared to the Apple lady.
Oh, yeah.
It was a hole.
I think they get it.
It was my 21-year-old lover's butthole.
I feel awful.
But I was looking at it before bed, before I went to the Apple store in bed.
Don't tell the whole story.
It was an accident.
You and Mitch always tell the whole story.
We're very proud of the images.
We have videos and I probably should delete them.
I've seen it.
You accidentally showed me.
You can't show us, Mitch.
It's not okay.
No, no, I've got consent.
I would never share nudes without consent.
Okay.
Do you have anything in your hidden folder, Laura?
Plants.
She's flying from Facebook Marketplace.
Fiddle leaves.
Plants and after Tuesday's episode, just Malabia.
But anyway, continue on.
I mean, like, I had a pretty good week.
I just had one problem with you, Mitch Jury, and I feel sorry.
You're really getting it this week, but something you did at my property
completely betrayed me.
And I feel like we're besties, but sometimes there's a line
and usually it's you that crosses it.
You make it out like I vandalised your property or stole it from you.
It wasn't bad.
Well, you stole my house.
Trespassed.
No, I didn't trespass.
I had a key.
That's true.
Anyway, we'll get into it in the show.
Girls, I went to the Apple store on the weekend,
which I feel like can be either hit or miss.
Like you go to the Apple store with a problem
and you're either going to leave with a new iPhone and an Apple Watch
or enraged with your problem somehow worse than what you went in to have fixed.
And a big bill usually.
Normally, yeah, but this weekend I knew what I wanted.
My little sister Rachel's got a birthday coming up.
I'm like, I'll get her an Apple Watch.
Good brother.
So I go in, I get her an Apple Watch.
I have a lovely experience.
Very good brother.
And I'm about to check out and the lady, the genius at the Apple bar goes,
hold on, do you have the new iPhone 15, you know, Pro Max?
I just bought it for work.
She goes, have you turned on ProRes 4K 14 megapixel images?
And I was like, well, this has been such a seamless experience.
I'll learn a new feature while I'm here.
I'm like, no, I'd love to know about 14 Pro Max 4K resolution.
Tell me more.
Tell me more.
So she goes, do you mind if I grab your phone?
I go, Karen, you've been so good.
Grab my phone.
What's mine is yours.
Totally.
She grabs my phone and she swipes out and it unlocks
because the new Face ID, you know how it just reads your face.
Karen looks very similar to you.
No, no, it scanned my face.
But Face ID is so quick that she just swiped up
and it caught my face on the corner.
I was like, God, Face ID is good.
Anyway, then she goes, do you mind if I go to your camera,
your photo roll because i want to show you how this technique works and i go sure go for it so
she goes to my my photo app you know the rainbow flower and the last time i'd been in my photo app
i was perusing through my hidden folder they're explicit well in that moment karen tapped my
the photo app and it was the last last folder that i've been in face id in 2024 is so quick i wasn't
even looking at my phone somehow it it hit a mirror in the corner of the apple store bounced
So I've hit my face, unlocked, and there lies...
Mitch's Saturday night.
No, use your imagination, I think.
Like a naked mole rat.
Picture a naked mole rat.
What did Karen do?
Karen somehow threw the phone.
Karen freaked out, dropped the phone,
threw it on the oak wood table at Apple and went,
all right, thank you.
I hope you've got everything you wanted today.
Enjoy the Apple Watch.
Hang on, did you even get your Super Hydro 4K XYZ photo?
Absolutely not.
Didn't get the tip.
Well, she got the tip.
Someone got a tip.
Karen has not paid enough for that.
She really isn't.
She's a genius.
No, she's going straight to HR and saying,
I got abused at work today.
Don't you guys remember when I had taken a nice photo
in my long-distance relationship for my boyfriend
and then I had also decided after said photo shoot
to go and get my nails done
and I had screenshot the nails that I wanted.
I went to the nail lady and she's like,
what are you after today?
And so I pulled up my phone to show her the nails that I wanted
and I said, I'll just get these done.
And it was just my nude photo.
I just was showing the poor nail lady my nude.
And she's like, you want that?
And I was like, yeah, just exactly like that.
I would like nude.
I'd like nude nails.
Just identical to this.
Then you came out and you had nipples on every finger.
Yeah, that was it.
New nip nails.
Not French tip.
Different kind of tip.
All right.
Well, I'm now banned from Apple.
So I'm an Android user.
Yeah, I'm moving over to Android.
There is a birthday debate going downtown online.
It's not downtown.
It's online.
It's not going anywhere.
it's dividing so many people us included right so this if you've seen it you'll know what i'm
talking about it's who pays for dinner i'm just gonna let her explain it my opinion that if you
invite people to a restaurant of your choosing for your birthday you should pay for everybody
i know that's going to be deeply unpopular but i just think that you can't pick a restaurant
and ask people to come and celebrate you and pay for themselves and in some friend groups it's even
expected that you split the cost of the birthday person too if i invite a group of people somewhere
to celebrate me that's my treat because i organized it and i'm asking them to come
deeply unpopular i'm gonna i think i'm gonna agree with her i know a lot of people are going
against the grain here but i don't think okay i don't think that the birthday person should be
paying for everybody but i think what you're doing is throwing it out there saying like hey guys come
to my dinner but you should be putting it to a pretty respectable price wise dinner you can't
expect people to come and pay for everything and I would never expect anyone to come and pay for me
and if people want to come to a cheap Thai dinner great but you can't be asking people to go to
a la carte 25 hat restaurant yeah but also okay no no on the flip side of this you can't expect
that if someone says hey let's do dinner it's my birthday I definitely don't think you should pick
the most expensive restaurant by any means you just pick like a nice place that you can all go
together, that you would normally go to as friends.
You can't expect that because someone suggested to do a dinner
for their birthday that they're going to pay for everybody there.
Yes, you can.
That's a crazy expectation.
Do you expect that, Mitch?
No, I expect if it's my birthday and I've invited ten of my friends
to a restaurant of my choosing because guess what?
It's my birthday.
I want to be paid for.
No, it's the opposite.
What?
The audacity.
No, she's saying that if – so say it's my birthday and I invite you guys,
She's saying that I should pay for every single person who came,
not that I should expect people to pay for me.
Yes, but now Mitch is saying that he expects all of us to pay.
No, I'm just saying on the flip side, I want to be paid for on my birthday.
And it actually has nothing to do with the show.
I'm just saying if it's September 30, I want you to buy me dinner.
We pay for you every day and it's not your birthday.
Oh, no, no, no.
Oh, these Gen Zs, that's what it is.
No, no, no, no.
I just think she doesn't have a point.
If it's your birthday and you've invited friends,
everyone absorbs the cost because it's $5 per head
to pay for a friend on their birthday.
No, it's not $5 per head.
Not if you've gone to...
I have been invited to friends' birthdays before
that have cost a mozza.
Are we not all friends with Rebel Wilson?
It wasn't Rebel's birthday.
Okay, I think it is rude to invite someone
to a very expensive restaurant unless, you know,
there's been a discussion around costs.
But the thing is, is if you can't afford something,
then you're very welcome to say,
do you know what, I can't afford to go.
And then maybe your friend will put something somewhere else.
No, Laura, in theory, that is great.
But no, it's embarrassing to say, hey, I'd love to come and celebrate with you, but I
actually can't afford it.
Oh, but it's not embarrassing to say, come celebrate my birthday and pay for me?
No, you don't say.
You put it in the group chat.
You text it.
Hang on, guys.
We've got some people calling.
We've got Beck on the line.
I think that if it's like a regular costed place, you know, everyone's doing splitsies.
But like, if you want to go somewhere bougie, then you're like, guys, it's going to be like
X amount per head.
Who's sure with that?
You know, it's cost of living.
We don't have that much money these days.
You know what I mean?
So like, someone's like, oh, I'd be steep.
Like, you know, we can go somewhere else.
It's all a discussion.
And I do like to pay for my friends at the end.
It's cute.
It's like a spritz among friends.
What's that?
Totally.
That's what I mean.
It divides up.
It's $2 a head per person.
Yes, if you go to Nobu, it's a bit more.
Where are you eating that's $2 per person?
Or how many people are going?
I live at home.
It's a roast dinner that Michelle Choo has cooked.
I agree with that take on it.
I think, you know, open communication, get it out on the table first,
and then nobody's sitting there at the end
wondering who's going to split the bill.
People are divided.
Sarah's called.
What do you reckon, Sarah?
Where do you stand on this?
I think that if you are the birthday person
and you're hosting,
then it's only appropriate
that you would pay for your guests.
Wow.
Really?
No.
100%.
But then, okay, hear me out.
Then it means that someone
who doesn't necessarily have the money
is never going to celebrate their birthday
with their friends
because they can never go out somewhere to dinner
because the expectation is that they're paying.
I think when it comes down to cost of living,
That's way more pressure on someone.
One thing I will say is I had a birthday a couple of years ago.
Laura, you came and we went away for the weekend.
We weren't friends yet, Mitch.
But what I did was because I wanted to go away for the weekend,
so I made sure the accommodation was covered instead of asking everybody
to come and chip in because, like, people don't have that money.
So in that sense, yes.
But we've got one more caller.
What's it going to be?
Tanya, hi.
No, you pay.
It's on you.
It's not on the people that you've invited.
You definitely pay.
This is a controversial take.
I'm surprised by how divided people's opinions are on this.
Well, I'm just thinking back to every birthday I've ever been invited to.
My friends that have always invited the birthday girl have never paid.
They always get paid for.
They always get paid for.
I think that that shouldn't be the expectation either.
I just think everyone pays for themselves.
Why are we expecting our friends to pay for us?
Unless you know that your friend doesn't have any money
and you're doing a nice thing.
But, like, everyone is kind of, you know,
everyone's trying to juggle the whole cost of living at the moment.
One thing we can all agree on is if the table has their meals,
you never ask for dessert.
You just don't be that person.
That's rude.
You don't go, anyone want dessert?
Because then everyone has to pay.
What?
Let's go home.
Sorry, I just.
Mitch, I'll go buy you some dessert after the show.
Mitch needs a bit more sugar in his bloodstream, I reckon.
No, I just have been that person when, you know,
when you read the room wrong, like I just did,
and you go, oh, all right, who wants to split a rum barber?
And everyone goes, what?
It's because no one knows what a rum barber is anyway.
So it is Valentine's Day.
So what Vodafone has done is they have released the sexting habits of Australians.
So naughty texts that people send, couples send and situationships and whatever not.
So they're calling it the Red Hot Love Index, which looks at, yeah, the sexy texts that are sent out.
These are some interesting stats for you, Britt and Laura.
On Valentine's Day last year, more than 13.8 million calls were made and over 58 million texts were sent.
That's a 14% increase.
Yeah, but that's not sexting.
Year on year.
I mean, but a lot of them might be, you know, like loving texts.
Will you be my valentine?
They don't have to all be sexting.
Babe, can you bring some milk home?
Surely.
One in five Australians, mostly men, these are some interesting stats,
were planning on sending a risque text on Feb 14.
I don't know how they got that stat.
No.
Do you know what I...
They thought about it, but they didn't.
They almost did.
This must have been an anonymous survey, though,
because I saw the same one that you're talking about, Mitch,
and there was one thing on there which really stood out to me,
and it was like one-fifth of men were planning on texting
as many as seven women.
So if you get a text this Valentine's Day from a guy,
just think he's probably texted six other women at the same time.
Yeah, but Laura, 83% of women were also planning on sexting three people.
Yeah, all right.
Look, you've got to keep your options open.
It's a numbers game, baby.
They got stats from each state.
So the Northern Territory is the state most likely to send a naughty text,
followed by ACT, Tasmania, then New South Wales and South Australia,
which just shocks me completely.
This is ridiculous.
How do they know who was thinking about sending it?
Also, the idea, I don't know if I love it or hate it,
the idea of people sending bulk sexts out,
like to seven people at a time,
as long as I guess it's a copy and paste of the content
but not the name, hey, Katie.
That's why you use baby.
So do you guys send naughty texts, Britt?
Because your partner lives overseas.
I'm in a long-distance relationship.
Ben lives in Scotland.
So, yes, 100%, we have to live our life via a phone, via FaceTime.
So we've had some interesting moments for sure.
I like to think I'm pretty good at it now.
With the time difference, though, you'd be aroused.
You'd send him a photo and then you'd have to wait six hours for him to wake up.
That's a real mood killer, isn't it?
Yeah.
It definitely doesn't set the tone, is it?
It's always like get into it and then you're like,
sorry, baby fell asleep eight hours later.
Never mind, I'm at work now.
Yeah, of course.
That's really hard.
Laura, are you a Maddie?
Do you?
No, I've seen your phone.
I know you do.
I know that this is like part of your normal repertoire.
I'm in a relationship with a 21-year-old, so that's all I do.
I've never actually met the man.
It's the only way you communicate.
We're just purely sex.
I don't even know his name.
I don't know if this is just the case when you're in, like,
a long, long-term relationship.
Like, Matt and I have been together for seven and a half years now
and we've got two kids and I think at the start we used to be quite good at it
but now it's been so long since I've sent him a naughty text
and now it's to the point where if I was to send him a naughty text,
it would be awkward.
Laura would be so – she has no game.
No, I will back her.
She doesn't.
I have none.
What would you send to Matt?
I wouldn't think that there's a remotely sexy thing about me.
Show us, show us.
What would you text Matt?
Tell him, tell us.
Can you pick the kids up this afternoon?
Because that's what gets it going.
Hey, honey, can you please get the kids?
No, be real.
Hey, honey, can you please make sure that you take the green bin out?
Try some of your dirty talk now.
I, no, I have no dirty talk.
I can play the music again.
Just give us some of your dirty talk.
Close your eyes.
Close your eyes.
Close your eyes.
I'm Matt, your beautiful partner you met on the hit TV show, The Bachelor.
I have never felt more uncomfortable on this show in my entire life.
What if we...
I'm not.
What if we tell Laura what to say and see how she can do it?
No, I'd be like, hey...
I can't even.
Okay, hold on.
I was going to say, hey, honey, maybe tonight.
Oh, my God.
Maybe we'll have stir fry tonight.
Maybe tonight.
Like, it's not a definite I will sleep with you.
It's 50-50.
I don't want to commit in case I don't feel like it at the time.
I might get done, change my mind.
Okay, hold on.
The kids could have a bad night and then it's not happening.
Just relax.
The kids will be fine.
Just chill.
Sometimes we do put Cocoa Melon on downstairs and we run upstairs for a quickie.
But there's no talk about it.
It just happens.
Let's write some messages.
Why don't you text Matt now and by the end of the show
we'll get his reply and see what he said.
I have nothing to text him.
Okay, I'm going to tell you what to text
because Mitch and I are both pretty good at this.
Producer Grace, can we say what we want to say on air
or do we have to just text it because we don't want to get upset
because it's pretty vulgar.
No, we can just do something really top line
that just plants the thought, plants the seed.
Let's do that.
I'm sorry, you're going to do the dirty talk for me
and then I'm going to send this to my husband.
Yeah, that's happening.
Okay, ready?
This is how I think you should start.
Is what you're going to say.
Is what you're going to say.
I think you should start with, can I have some music, please?
Thanks.
Hey, baby.
I've just been feeling really tight today.
Tight?
Tight.
My shoulders are so tight.
Oh.
Oh, dig on.
And I feel really tense.
I feel really tense.
And I just seem to be thinking about you all day.
It's just crazy.
And then you say, when I get home, if only there was a big burly man to pick me up and
relieve me of some of that stress.
What time do you finish work?
Okay, if you guys just missed it, we were talking about
how Vodafone's brought out this like
I don't even know what you call it. It's like a sexting
what Australians are doing on
Valentine's Day list. Red Hot Lover Index.
The Red Hot Lover Report.
And off the back of that, I was saying
that over the last seven and a half years
of being in a relationship with my husband, Matt,
I have lost the art
and the skill of sending sexy text
messages. We just don't do it
And now it's gone to a point where it feels very, very awkward for me.
And Britt and Mitch both made me send my husband a text.
Laura, we felt so bad for you.
It was dreadful.
Which said this.
I can't wait to get home and see you tonight.
I've been thinking about you all day.
As soon as the kids are in bed, it's been a big day.
So much tension.
Just need someone to pick me up and relieve me.
I've been feeling so tight.
That was Britt.
I added that part.
Britt added that in.
It's not even dirty.
He's replied.
He's replied.
This is the Beiges of Dirty Talks, but he wrote back.
That's what it's supposed to be.
Just set the tone lightly.
You don't go in hardcore, Laura.
Yeah, baby, I was setting the tone and he wrote back,
bit gassy, question mark.
What?
And I said, no, I'm being serious.
And he's really confused by this and he wrote,
sorry, you want me to physically pick you up, question mark,
and carry you up the stairs?
You say, well, a loser is meaning when I've got to break it down for you, buddy.
Okay, well, no, what do I write next?
What's the next thing?
Just go yes.
Yes, but the stairs isn't what I'm worried about.
The bed is the destination.
Make sure you pick your clothes up after because I'm a clean freak.
It's almost like watching your friend who's just turned 18.
They got their first boyfriend.
It's like you guys are all being jade again.
I feel worried about you.
I'm nervous but nodding like the sex talk kind of hot way,
like in what is happening.
What's he said?
You want a bit of sexy time, eh?
Oh, yes.
No, that's good.
It's a win.
The win is a win.
He said, are you going to service me, lady?
Wow, all right.
That's, oh, God, the true Maddie J coming out.
Is he going to die when he knows she just read this out?
There is nothing romantic about this.
It sounds like you're a Mitsubishi Lancer.
Are you going to service me?
You want to check my oil?
I'm going to get your oils checked, baby.
There is nothing about this, carry on, that is sexy.
And maybe that's why I gave up the sexy talk in the first place.
Should we call him, Britt?
No, no.
Let's call Maddie J.
Why are you going to call him?
Because continue it.
You need to just continue.
I can't.
I don't have it.
Laura, this is a challenge that Britt and I have given.
You just have to say, texting, I felt it so deeply in my bones,
I needed to hear your voice.
Just try it.
Just try it.
Mitch, please don't make me do that.
Try it.
No, I actually can't.
You can.
It's ringing, so you have to.
I hate you.
I'm turning our mics off, Britt.
Hello?
Hello?
I just, you know, you sent that message and, well,
I was just thinking about us, that's all.
What were you thinking?
I was thinking about all the things I want to do to you later.
oh like what like propagate me
um take all my clothes off and yours i can't tell if you're crying or laughing
i'm overcome with emotion what's wrong
um look i think we should practice for our third baby
just practice i mean let's not get too carried away
what part do we need to practice the horizontal dance of love part
okay we can we can practice what time are you home i'll be home at six o'clock and we get the
kids into bed get them into bed you know we can put some music on we can undress each other
what kind of music would you want maybe something like this
Slowly, and then we can set the candles.
You know, we can just be slow with each other.
Take our time.
It's Valentine's Day after all.
I do like to rush, don't I?
I'm going to give you the best five minutes of your life.
I actually can't keep doing this.
Laura, I'm impressed that you just had that music on stand by.
I am so...
Maddie, Jay, welcome to the pick up.
Sorry, we challenged Laura to dirty talk you.
I can't, Matt.
I can't dirty talk.
He knows that.
He's my husband.
We're both pretty bad at dirty talking,
but just to confirm, are we going to...
Do I still get my special treat?
Not a lot.
Look, you can get a special treat,
but please never make me do that again.
I've never felt more viscerally uncomfortable.
I feel so bad for your relationship.
That was terrible.
Is the only time you two have ever made love
when those two kids were made?
Yeah.
No!
Thank you, Maddie J.
We feel sorry for you, mate.
I'm, like, in the mood now.
Wait, where are you guys going?
Wait.
Bye.
What, does Mitch and Britt get you in the mood as well?
All three of us?
Here we are.
Hey, honey.
Mitch will sext you later.
Hang on, was that laughter or crying?
I think it's both.
It sounded something else.
First days is one of my favorite days,
and that is because we get to answer a listener dilemma.
And I love them because they make me feel a little bit better about my life.
Today we've got Angela that's called up.
Now it's something about, I'm going to let her explain it,
but it's something about public nudity.
So I'm interested to see who's doing what and where they're doing it.
This is the show for that answer.
Hey, Angela.
Hi, guys.
Hi, Angela.
Hey, what's going on?
So seeking your opinions or some advice here,
I'm just inquiring on behalf of a male friend of mine.
He goes to like a predominantly female populated gym
where they also have like massage chairs, saunas and ice baths.
And so he frequents the ice bath.
but it came up in conversation one day what people wear in the ice bath
and that sort of thing.
I don't know if people were stressed on him or not
but he has been going in nude.
What?
Wait, as in it's not in a private room?
It's in a private room.
He just goes nude in the ice bath.
Oh, okay.
So no one else can walk in and see him?
No, no one else can walk in and see
but this has rustled some feathers.
I assume the women would be wearing their bra and undie,
that sort of thing.
But what are your thoughts?
I, okay, when I sort of heard what this was about,
I thought he was going into an ice bath in a gym
that anyone could go into with no clothes on.
Strutting around naked.
And I was like, well, that's illegal in public indecency, so yeah.
But I've changed my tune a bit now.
Now that you said he's in a private room,
it's like his little time to shine.
I mean, whether he's naked or he's got some loose board shorts on,
the junk's still there.
The junk is still touching the water.
It makes no difference, does it?
No, it does.
I think it does.
Angela, do they flush the water after every session?
Look, it's not every session, no.
So I'm not entirely sure after how many,
but it's sort of one of those ones where, like, it's refrigerated,
so the ice stays in there for a while.
It's not like a big bucket type situation.
Yes, then no.
No, then you can't.
That's so weird though, Mitch, because like, yes, you're getting into a bath,
but like even if you've got swimmers on or whatever,
all your junk is still in the water.
It's still washing around and getting on that.
Like the water just because you're wearing swimmers
doesn't not touch your private parts.
So why do you care?
Yeah, but there's at least a barrier of Speedo or under your board shorts
that a gun can't float off.
It's all self-contained.
Listen, I've got –
You're not doing a poop and then not wiping and getting in the ice bath.
You guys don't have bits.
You're all self-contained, okay?
We got bits and pieces and length and width that we need to worry about.
Yeah, but you're not walking in there with your Dove soap
and having a wash in there.
Of course.
There's three of you.
So I suppose we could go to a little vote type situation.
Okay, Laura, what's your vote?
I think it's fine.
Fine.
Hang out with you, wang out.
Brit?
Junk in the trunk.
Fine.
Well, I think it's not fine.
That was a terrible poll, Angela.
We knew that from the start.
We made Angela happy and she's always fine.
I also think.
Yeah, I'm with you guys.
Look, I thought it was fine, but the other ladies at the gym do not.
But I'm on side with my friends.
So, I mean, it's interesting to hear.
It's Mitch, yeah.
Well, your opinion, Mitch, but the girls' too.
But anyway, everyone's got their own opinions and that's totally fine too.
You go to a Reformer Pilates class and you wipe down that bench.
You go to the gym, you're on a treadmill, you sweat, you wipe down the buttons.
You go to an ice bath at the gym, you don't do it butt naked.
No, but you go to an ice bath and everything's so small anyway
because it's so cold that nothing's touching the water.
It's probably inside him.
That's a good point.
So he's fine.
There's nothing to see here anyway.
But I just don't think he needs to tell the whole gym about it.
Just do it in privacy.
You don't need to tell them about anything.
I think he thought honesty was the best policy in that situation,
but maybe not.
Nah, you take it to the grave.
Lie.
All right, Angela, I hope that helps.
See, I was picturing it being like he was telecom at SeaWorld,
like in a glass box.
What?
Like a glass box.
Like a dugong, like a sea dugong.
Yeah, and like, you know, there's like steps you walk down
and you can see it from underneath.
That's what I thought everyone could see.
I just love that Angela took control of that.
She was like, rein it in, you lot.
Give it to a poll.
Yeah, she really did.
Laura, I want to do a poll, like an in-studio poll.
Now, I don't know if that counts because it's just your opinion I'm getting,
just your votes.
That's not really a poll because if Mitch votes as well, it could be a tie.
But I'm going to vote.
Mitch isn't allowed to vote because it's about Mitch.
Can I just say, this is ridiculous and I don't approve this being spoken about,
but the mics are on so we have to talk.
So I'm the deciding factor here.
I don't approve a break and enter either.
Anyway.
Oh, get off it.
God, you are such, you're so dramatic.
let me me dramatic break and enter let me set the scene okay i'm ready on the weekend i was going to
go home to port macquarie that was the plan okay and mitch and i had been discussing that now mitch
mitch has stayed at my house before whenever i go away overseas for long periods of time because
mitch still lives at home with his parents i give him a bit of freedom i'm healing i'm like the
second mom so i'm like look my house is empty for three weeks you he's got my keys he's got my codes
He knows every, he just goes and makes himself at home.
Yeah.
And I don't mind that because I've okayed it.
You're very, like, open with that stuff as well.
Like, I've got your keys.
I've got your codes.
Like, if I wanted to get into your house, I can get into your house.
Exactly.
Frank down the road's got my keys and my code.
No, he doesn't.
But, yes, with my friends, I'm usually pretty open.
But it's always above board.
Like, I know about it.
It's agreed.
I've prepared the house for that, whatever.
So, I told Mitch that I was going to Port Macquarie.
It was kind of passing.
Like, you didn't say, like, I'm making a big trip of it.
You go, this weekend I'll be in Port Macquarie.
I clocked it and we kind of moved on.
Yeah, it was like, what are you doing this weekend?
He's like, I'm heading to Port.
What are you doing?
He's like, oh, I'm just catching up with some friends.
And I was like, cool.
So then I decide not to go to Port Macquarie.
But because it wasn't a big deal.
Which was rude.
I didn't tell Mitch I wouldn't.
You didn't announce it.
Well, I started texting him, like, by the way,
I know I mentioned that last week, but I'm not going anymore.
So I was just going about my day.
I was out with some friends for dinner.
And I come home to my house.
and Mitch and three friends are in my house.
They were not.
Yes, drinking my gin.
My gin.
No, it wasn't your gin.
It was that one sip in it.
One sip.
And I was like, you should have seen it.
You know when you get sprung by a parent having a house party
when they've said they're away.
Sorry, I've not contributed to this because I forget it's an audio meeting.
My mouth is just completely open.
Mitch.
And I was like, what are you doing?
He said, what are you doing?
He's like, you said you weren't going to be home.
I'm like, that's irrelevant.
You're in my house.
You offered your house to me.
You said you were away.
You didn't communicate that you were coming back.
So I organised a dinner date with three of my friends
from the Bondi area.
Do you know what?
Firstly.
And then he pretends it's his house.
No, this is reminiscent of like, it was last week
and we were talking about how Mitch just takes things
out of the communal fridge.
The problem is, and Mitch, I love you.
I love you deeply.
But it's like you give you an inch and you will take a mile
and all of a sudden you're in the lounge room
drinking gin with your feet up.
Give you a key and you take a house.
So, A, can you do that, Lauren?
because Mitch is like, we're good enough friends.
And I'm like, totally.
If I knew you were coming, fine.
Unless somebody says, hey, I'm out of town,
you can have my house for the weekend,
just announcing that I'm out of town isn't the open caveat
of like you can come and stay in my house.
They're not the same thing.
I'm away doesn't mean invite three friends over and come round.
Britt is forgetting to mention the part where she sat down,
had a chardonnay with three of my gay friends
and we had a delicious cheese platter.
We all got blind drunk.
It was blind cheese.
Then we started playing Articulate until midnight.
We had a great weekend.
Okay, yes.
I did end up having a wonderful time,
but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was breaking it up.
Well, it was very awkward at the end when we both went to go to bed
and it was Brit's bed.
You're like, where are you sleeping tonight?
And I'm like, where are you?
That's my bed.
Rich goes, where are you sleeping tonight?
So stupid.
I love you and I'm grateful.
I am so obsessed with this new series that's on Channel 9.
Now, it was on last season and we're up to season two.
It is called Big Miracles and it follows a whole heap
of different couples through their fertility journeys and honestly I think it is one of the
rawest most beautiful shows that is on tv at the moment because you get some couples who have their
happy ending of having a baby after years of fertility struggles and IVF struggles but then
you also follow the very real emotion of couples who haven't gotten the baby that they've so
desperately wanted and it's there's nothing as real I mean in the world of married at first
sights and everything else it is the honestly the realest emotion that I've seen on free to air tv
Well, yeah, and it's so important to be highlighting to those people that are at home, that are struggling, that they're not alone.
Because one in six Australian couples or women experience infertility issues.
One in six.
So that's a really big statistic.
And if people aren't out there putting themselves out there and talking about it, people don't realise how common it is and how not alone they are.
So Emily and John, they're one of the couples that were carried over from first season who didn't have their happy ending then.
But Emily has just announced that she's pregnant.
and we have Emily on the show to join us on the pick-up.
Emily, hello.
Hi.
Hello.
Hello.
Firstly.
What news do you have?
Yeah.
Having a baby girl.
Yay!
Oh, the biggest congratulations from us.
Emily, what was it that made you want to sign up for the show
in the first place?
I think you've already hit the nail on the head.
I think it's awareness and inspiring others to talk about it
or even going that step further and perhaps testing their fertility
much earlier than what they would have otherwise been planning to have a child.
Like if I knew that I was going to have problems,
I would have just had that blood test 10 years ago.
What are the infertility problems that you experience as a couple?
Is it one of you? Is it unexplained? Do you know exactly what it is?
Yeah, so both of us, very normal.
There's no underlying issues like polycystic ovaries or anything like that.
It's simply, for me, I've got very low ovarian egg reserves.
So technically my ovaries are much older than what I am.
So they're in their 40s instead of me being, well, now mid-30s.
And my husband has low motility, so they don't swim very well.
We call them relaxed sperm.
So where that...
They're sleepy sperm.
Yeah, sleepy sperm.
We're right, we're a bit more difficult because there's both of us who have issues
that otherwise, unless you go to try to have a baby, you wouldn't have known that.
Yeah.
Emily, how long were you trying to have a baby for, you and your partner?
Four years, the best part of four years.
And how much of that was IVF?
So we did three rounds of IVF and I mean, honestly, like, I don't know if it's come
through on the show, but she is a little miracle even to a fallen.
So just like we have 3% chance of falling naturally and then 30% chance combined with IVF, which decreases obviously as we get older because time is never on your side.
Emily, I was told that I only have 15%. I'm going through egg freezing and all that myself. I've done that the last couple of years, but I only have 15%, so I'm told, chance of falling. And that's wild to me because I'm like, hang on a minute, I'm 35. I have never smoked.
I barely drink.
I'm so fit and healthy.
Like, how can that be?
Is that abnormal or is that normal for someone your age?
No, that's low.
That's low, yeah.
I have fertility issues as well, which is why, yeah,
I think it's so amazing that you're going out there
and putting it out there, Emily.
How do you feel about the idea that you're going to have
to give birth on camera and, like, have everyone watching?
Because it's obviously an amazingly intimate moment
but can also be, like, I mean, people do poops.
because people, you know, it can be pretty gory.
I don't reckon they're going to put that bit on Channel 9.
Have you seen the pregnancy, the birthing yet?
Do they put a GoPro on the thigh or something?
No, they're all in there filming.
No, there's a camera crew.
But how do you feel about that, Emily?
Yes.
That was really daunting.
So, like, that's pretty anxiety-inducing.
But you'll definitely have to tune in to Episode 3
to watch how that goes.
Yeah, right.
You'll have to give it a watch, Channel 9.
You're right, Laurie.
In the age of maths and all the trashy reality shows,
It's beautiful.
It's nice, yeah.
Big miracles on Channel 9.
You can catch up, stream it now.
Emily and your partner, John, big congrats.
And I hope the baby girl is delivered safe and healthy.
Good luck.
Happy to you.
Thank you so much.
Thanks, Emmy.
