Life Uncut podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia
and their connections to land, sea and community.
We pay our respect to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
This episode is recorded on Gavigal land of the Aurora Nation.
Hi guys, and welcome back to another episode of Life Uncut.
I'm Laura.
I'm Brittany.
I'm Mitch.
And this is our very first pick-up show since having a holiday.
And Mitch, it was nice to see you again.
I've missed you.
It was good to see you guys.
I missed you.
Oh, I didn't miss either of you.
Nah, she did.
She's lying.
You actually did.
You didn't text me though.
Neither of you messaged me.
I know.
I was kind of heard about.
We actually spoke because Britt and I have to have a group chat that goes all the time.
We don't have to.
We also are friends.
I love you.
But we do have a business.
So we do run.
We talked about work things and then Mitch felt left out.
We're really sorry because we love you as well.
We had a group call to chat about the pickup on Sunday before we came back.
And I was like, God, did anyone, like, you guys didn't message each other, right?
You didn't message me.
And you guys were like, no, we spoke.
Hang on a minute.
I literally FaceTimed you and you screened me.
You hung up on me.
And I said, and then I left you a voice message that said, why the F did you just hang up on me?
That was Sunday.
That wasn't on the trip.
What were you doing when you screened the call?
When Britt called me, FaceTimed me, the Sunday night, I got back that day.
You were banging.
I was having sex.
I would want you to scream me as well.
If you were mid-pump, I would hope that the FaceTime was hung up on.
Get off it.
I mean, that's what's happening.
Also, I don't know.
Did you expect me to be constantly messaging you away?
I literally just got engaged to my long-distance fiancé who I never see
and I'm not going to see for another two months.
And I've only got him for two weeks.
I'm not messaging you every day.
I'm also going to bank now.
Well, as you can tell, we're back and we're squabbling like nothing ever happened.
Nothing ever changes.
Was the last bang before you guys split you and Ben,
Was it magnificent?
It actually was.
I just thought back.
Where was it?
Oh, it was magnificent.
It was at my sister's house.
Wow.
It was in Edinburgh?
It's tiny.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah.
And that little tiny flat.
Yeah.
In the spare room.
It was great.
She knows.
So it's not like it's out of the ordinary.
Was she home at the time?
Yeah.
What?
Vocal or not vocal?
Not vocal.
Good.
Why are we getting into my thing?
Sometimes they're so hot, aren't they?
So you know, we didn't talk about any of this on the show.
But telling you what we did talk about on radio this week.
Mitch? Oh yeah. There was this topic that just
really upset me and grinds my gears. I'm a
Cronulla boy from Sydney, born and raised in
the Shire, the Sutherland Shire.
The Sutherland Shire has a check-in history with
many different topics. Racism,
homophobia. Yeah, it does. It genuinely does.
The Cronulla Riots, it's a
very typically white suburb,
old money, not a suburb that a
28-year-old gay man with a boyfriend really would be
living in. But I do live there. It's where I was raised.
Cronulla Sharks are the local NRL
team there. They've got a junior player who plays
for the junior squad. His name's Joshua Taylor
miles he uh you might have seen him it went pretty viral he's got two horrific tattoos on his quads
on his legs which you can't actually when we do the radio show you can't say what it is but i mean
there's no holds bars on the podcast yeah i mean i can i mean i'm happy i can say it i mean you can
say yeah thank you i hold my hands no on one quad it says eat shit faggot which i mean is a gay slow
which is disgusting disgusting and on the other other other fight says snort lines and fuck which
is just charming yeah he's full of class i bet like this is tattooed and it's massive you know
and when we say it's on his body like it covers the entire front of both of his thighs yeah one
slogan on each thigh and he shows it off they in football wears really small short shorts you can
see it at all times well that's the thing the junior sharks posted it on their instagram being
like look at our little player and they were on full show that's how it got caught up in the media
anyway the sharks have said yeah uh we'll ban him unless he covers them up so what does he what did
he do he flew to bali he covered them up with another horrific tattoo and he can still go on
and play however he posted on his insta story saying gone but not forgotten like it's disgusting
so we we get into the whole conversation on the show yeah and i i mean the only thing i want to
say on that because like you do you speak about it beautifully mitch um but it's really hard
covering some of these harder topics on radio because like normally on a podcast we would talk
about that for 15 minutes you know there's so much nuance to that and so many parts of it that i
think it's a real shame that on a radio show you can't dig as deep into because you know we've got
these four five minute breaks of talking but we didn't even get to the point of talking about like
snort coke and fuck and like the in like unbelievable misogyny that's actually like
just entrenched in that we we were speaking about your experience and like there's so many things
that's wrong with this so yeah as you were talking I'm so proud of you but also I was like
fuck I just wish that this was a podcast topic because we would actually you know have so many
more things to say. Of course. Yeah. I actually went on a rant as well this week, believe it or
not. There's like a controversial dating expert on TikTok. Jake Maddock. Yeah, that had something
to say, his thoughts about like what you should be like in a relationship in regards to blocking
people online. And I thoroughly, thoroughly disagree with him. And also, as you guys know,
this will come no as no surprise to like the og lifers i have a wiki feet page my feet are famous
on the internet uh they rate very highly and i have constantly been thinking that maybe if times
get tough and i'm strapped for cash i could start selling feet pics because look these digits are
okay um but we're talking about lily allen because she has just recently started an only fans page
selling pictures of her feet also she discussed on her podcast her feet are beautiful they're
They're so nice.
My feet are actually more like a Picasso.
They're like, or is it a Monet where they say like it's good from afar
but far from good when you get up close?
That's a Monet.
Yeah, that's my feet.
Anyway, well, look, there's plenty of thoughts about it,
but someone else in the room here also has a WikiFeet page.
That they didn't know about.
Anyway, all that and so much more on the show coming up now.
Girls, we're all back from our break.
We had a couple weeks off.
We all had very interesting trips.
Laura, you were in India.
Very different trips.
Yeah.
I mean, I wasn't eat, pray, loving over in India.
I was over there for work.
You were praying with a diarrhea you had.
I was praying for the jelly belly to leave me.
But it was, no, I had an amazing time.
Yeah, and Britt, you were over in.
I was everywhere.
Yeah, and I did a massive road trip through the United States.
I literally drove thousands of kilometres from the centre of America
all the way through to LA.
And I love LA.
I've lived there before.
It's changed so much since I lived there.
It just feels so pretentious.
And something happened to me that genuinely offended me,
and I want to see if you girls are offended by this too.
I went to an activewear store called Allo?
Allo?
Allo.
Allo.
You know it?
Yeah, I've seen it online.
I get served their ads on Instagram all the time.
Oh, you're the target demo.
It's like fancy, bougie activewear.
All the supermodels wear it.
Yeah, I'm totally the target demo guy.
Checks out for Laura then.
Checks out for both of you, yeah.
Me?
Didn't even fit me, by the way.
I tried it all and it didn't fit.
I was so offended.
Anyway, I found a sun visor that fit, surprisingly.
So I walk into this store and it is bougie.
Fancy elevator music is playing.
It's multi-level.
It's in the Grove Shopping Centre in Los Angeles.
It's the type of active wear that no one's actually wearing
when they're doing anything active.
You just wear it when you're going to brunch or to breakfast or,
you know, it's very, yeah.
It's a yoga, no, they are, let's not yuck it too much,
but they're doing yoga.
They're not doing anything extraneous.
It's just like, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, with a Louis Vuitton bag and it's like very,
it's like, yeah, sure, what stretching are you doing
other than the bank account?
So I walk in, I go, let me get this hat.
So I buy the hat and the American woman,
she's got the vocal fry of a, she sounds like a fry pan.
She's like, welcome to Arlo.
And I was like, hello.
Oh, my God.
You're so lame.
She didn't get it.
That's the only reason you went to that shop, isn't it?
To drop that line.
Hello.
I don't know.
She didn't get it.
Hello, governor.
No one laughed.
And I went, hello, I'm going to get this hat.
And then she went, can I suggest you one of our new range of supplements?
I'll give you a free sample.
I was like, that is so nice.
I'd love a supplement.
Why does she sound like she's dying?
She had vocal fry.
She's from California.
She sounds like this.
She's really cool.
She also has had a lemon water for lunch and breakfast.
So she's about to pass out.
I was like, oh, I'd love a supplement.
That's really nice.
Thank you.
A supplement for what, though?
Well, that's what I thought.
She's like, we have a whole range of different supplements
for health in mind and body.
Would you like a sample?
I was like, great.
You love a freebie.
Totally.
I just dropped like $300 on this hat with the conversion rate.
And she goes, based on your aura, this is what I've chosen for you.
I'm like, this is sweet.
Maybe she knows I'm a radio presenter.
She can sense the glitz and the glam of Australian media.
Maybe she'll give me something for my skin.
I don't know.
Based on your aura.
I'm going to get you what she gave me.
What is an aura?
Like the vibe or the energy I'm getting from you?
The energy, yeah.
So this is the vitamin she gave me.
It's in a little pre-packed.
Why don't you read out what it says?
Okay, so the aura that you were giving off was.
Sorry.
What is it?
Digest and de-bloat.
You got free vitamins for digest and de-bloat.
D-B-L-O-T, vitamin.
Natural enzymes to ease bloating and support digestion for a happier tummy.
I just spent $300 and she told me to de-bloat.
Like I'm a corpse.
Like I'm a cane-toe.
She was like, well, nothing fits you here.
Nothing fits.
Can we help you with this?
One tablet, two.
Maybe she's like, go home, take this and come back tomorrow when you're less bloated.
Maybe something will fit you.
Look at it, Brit.
It's one tablet.
It's so funny.
She may as well have given me a cyanide pill and said end it all.
Screw you.
So you look amazing.
Me?
That's really mean.
And I know we all laugh, but that's horribly mean.
Natural enzymes is bloating and support digestion for a happier tummy.
I am dead.
I went with my sister who also bought something.
Did she de-bloat too?
I said, did you get vitamins?
And she said, yeah.
She pulls it out.
It was anti-anxiety.
It checks out actually.
Knowing Rachel.
Huge debate, Laura and Mitch, that is going down on the internet right now.
All thanks to these two big US TV hosts.
They're the hosts of the Today Show, Jenna and Hoda.
Do you know them?
Yeah, how did a cop be?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They're very famous.
No, I don't watch American TV.
I don't know.
They drink white wine as they host a breakfast show.
That sounds like my kind of breakfast show.
You should watch it.
You'd love it.
Well, they, from what was started as like a very simple throwaway comment,
they have broken the internet with this debate.
Have a listen.
The other thing I like to do is, oh, there is my toothbrush while I'm in here.
I'm going to put it on.
Oh, look at me.
My conditioner is setting in.
I'm brushing my teeth.
I know how long this takes.
and then all done.
Out.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm not sure why they get to stand in ovation.
I'm not sure.
Sounds like it.
Is she drunk at 9 a.m. in the morning?
Is that what that is?
America is in disarray.
Their president is about to pass away.
And that is what they're talking about on the news.
Now, before we get any further into it,
we do want to hear from you guys.
Like, call up.
What are you doing in the shower that is not showering?
Now, I, hands down, and team, what's the team?
brush your teeth in the shower.
I'm team brush your teeth in the shower.
Not a catchy slogan, but like it's fun to be part of that team.
I couldn't even get it out.
Work on the PR.
I have a toothbrush that lives – I have two toothbrushes.
It lives in my shower.
I always have toothpaste and a tooth shower.
I can't talk.
Are you all right?
You sound like Biden.
I always have toothpaste and a toothbrush next to my conditioner
and stuff in the shower.
Well done, Brit.
Well done, Brit, for getting that out.
That was actually so –
We can end the break there.
Can you tell that I'm still on holiday in my brain?
I can't even get the sentence out.
So I don't get what the controversy is around this
because she's basically saying, hang on,
she goes on to say how disgusting it is because like plaque
and stuff will come off your teeth onto the ground
and then you stand on it.
Like I don't get it.
It's the weakest argument.
I mean I pee in the shower so like the plaque is the least
of my worries.
Laura takes a dump in the shower.
I don't waffle stomp it down the drain.
Have you ever?
When I was a kid I tried it once.
You never do that twice.
Same, I've tried it, yeah.
Have you?
Yeah, wouldn't you like 10?
Like literally every kid at some point goes, what would happen?
Mitch is like, yeah, 10.
And it's never as easy as you think.
You think it would be Play-Doh in one of those Play-Doh contraptions,
but it's not.
I have never pooed in the shower.
You're crazy.
Don't do it, guys.
If you've ever considered it, let me tell you, it doesn't go down.
It doesn't work like you think it will.
Okay.
I am definitely team don't brush my teeth in the shower.
I don't feel passionately about it.
I'm not someone who's going to like riot because you do it.
But I'm very sensory and I don't like warm water to brush my teeth with.
So I don't like the feeling of brushing my teeth with warm water.
I'm with you on that.
So that wigs me out.
I have to do it cold water.
Yeah, it feels like because it's room temperature or mouth temperature,
it feels like you're not even clean.
Okay, I love the fact that in the shower when you brush your teeth,
you can be as messy as you want.
So like the tooth, you know, the frothy toothpaste.
Everywhere.
It comes down your face because it washes down your body.
You can just spit it.
I just love it.
Rabies.
The only thing I do in the shower that's not showering
is I will often wash my dog in the shower at the same time
as I'm having a shower or I will clean the shower.
Like I'll bleach the shower whilst I'm naked having a shower.
It's definitely worse than brushing your teeth in the shower.
Washing the dog?
I wash my dog in the shower.
Naked wash dog?
Sorry, naked wash in the shower.
I'm team naked wash dog.
You two are like, what are you doing?
You have t-shirts made or something?
I'm naked wash dog.
That's me.
It's cash tight for you two.
I'm making new merch.
Naked wash dog and team toothbrush number two in the shower.
I'm not team naked wash dog.
Jill has called us.
How are you?
What do you do in the shower that isn't showering?
I actually pluck my eyebrows.
How do you do it?
Have you got a mirror in there?
I do.
So I have a ledge in my shower.
I sit my mirror on the ledge.
I have a light that shines on the mirror.
What a setup.
And I just stand there while the, yeah.
But doesn't that...
I just stand...
Sorry, I've got some logistic questions here.
When you're plucking your eyebrows,
Like, you want to have them in place first.
So I feel like they need to be dry because when the water's on
and they're all running down, how do you know what you're plucking?
So I don't get my face wet.
I actually just stand there with my back in the shower
and I just have my head reaching forward a little bit and just, yep.
Jill, I'm going to ask, could you not then just do it out of the shower?
What's the shower?
That wasn't the question.
The question was what do you do that's not showering?
I don't mean to yuck it, but then she's not in the shower.
I just don't get time.
Yeah, Jill, I feel you.
And I find when I'm in the shower, I'm just standing there just enjoying the heat.
Why not do it?
And I find it's actually painless too.
Jill, I'm also in the shower trying to escape my children.
That's what I'm doing.
Do you know what I don't get?
All the people that eat in the shower.
Have you seen that?
No one does that.
Yeah, they do.
Full on like chicken schnitzel wraps.
People are going to town.
Degustations in the shower.
Find them and then we can.
And put them to death.
Yeah, we can interrogate them.
Find them.
This is hideous.
Put them on the bathroom shelf.
Guys, you know who's making a comeback?
Lily Allen.
Have you seen how much she's been making the news recently?
That's because she's got a podcast where she over shares
and then they just take grabs and throw it out.
Yeah, I mean, we can relate to what that's like, Brittany.
We're not superstars like Ilya.
No.
Ilya Allen.
I called her Ilya Allen.
She hasn't also made music in a long time.
Well, that's the thing.
I mean, you guys would remember this song.
Yeah.
It was a banger.
Yeah, and she was absolutely massive of her time
and then she kind of just disappeared.
But the reason why she's made headlines now
is something that I think we could all get behind
and I think this is a very good idea.
Now, Lily Allen has started selling feet pics.
Whether she's actually sold any yet, I'm not sure,
but she started an OnlyFans account because she has glorious,
and I mean this, they are beautiful.
I've got a photo right here.
Show me.
I need to see them.
They're right here.
Have a look at how nice they are.
Wow.
Oh my God, they're gorgeous feet.
Oh my God, that is amazing.
How do you listen to this?
I have a lady that comes and does my nails
and they informed me that I have five stars on wiki feet,
which is quite rare.
But yes, my feet are rated quite highly on the internet.
What the f*** is wiki feet?
It's like a foot rate.
A Wikipedia about your feet.
Famous people's feet, yeah.
To be fair, I mean, she has great feet.
She has a wonderful manicure.
manicure, I mean pedicure. I never get pedicures. She has great feet. Okay, so for only US $10 a
month, you can subscribe to this. And okay, this is only just started, but she's currently got
four photos on there of her feet that you can access. And I think that the number is only
growing. I wonder how much she's made from that. Well, I don't know, $10. You're gonna have to get
a few subscribers, wouldn't you? You know, look at those toes. Feet don't do anything for me,
but they are beautiful. She's got all 10 digits, which is a major plus. She's also got little
nails on the pinky toenail, which is so rare. Yeah. I don't have nails on my pinky toes. I
just paint the skin to give the allure of a toenail. I'm similar. That's what I do.
Mine just doesn't grow. Well, you know, someone else who has a WikiFeet page. So for anyone who
doesn't know what WikiFeet is, it is a, it's a foot page. Like you don't make your own profiles,
but if you are someone who is, you know, remotely in the public eye, people can take photos from
your Instagram or they can take photos from media shots and someone creates what's called a WikiFeet
profile. I mean, I laugh at this all the time because Laura Byrne does have a wiki feet profile.
Guys, I did not make this. Someone out there, some creep, took photos of my feet. They've taken
photos of me and my husband. They've taken photos of me at the beach. They've taken photos of me at
the tennis. And they have put photos of my feet on the internet. And then people go on there and
rate your feet. Hang on, you've got the pictures here. Hang on, hang on, hang on. People rate your
feet yeah but these aren't even close-ups of your feet they're just pictures of you with your feet
attached do you want to see a close-up i did get a manicure sorry a pedicure when i was in bali
look at this beautiful lush baby pink color brit i actually look at that baby toenail with a fake
toe i don't particularly like the color no oh you're sorry you're such a harsh critic show me
your hoofs i don't have any no mine are worse than yours i don't have anything on there i don't ever
get a pedicure that color's not for me but it does make your feet look better than they are
She's got her feet out in real life.
Mitch, what would you rate my feet at if you had to?
Because I'm thinking I have quite a good rating on wicky feet.
And I think that I could sell these and make a bit of side cash.
Maybe I can put it to charity.
Maybe I'll keep it for myself.
Who knows?
Can you put your foot down, first of all?
No, tell me what you think about my feet.
It's really dirty on the bottom.
They're covered in lint as well and you've been to India
and it looks like you've been eat, praying and loving with bare feet.
They're disgusting.
I've been wearing socks, guys.
No, look.
You've got a sock tan, first of all.
You're flaring your toes out like there's some sort of – put them down.
It's not, but actually, do you know what?
You do have quite long slender feet,
so I can see why people have rated them beautiful.
They kind of look like a crow's foot.
Okay, that's a bit harsh.
Would you pay $10 subscription monthly?
I'd pay you not to put them on.
I also would.
I'd pay you right now to put your shoes back on.
Here's the thing, girls.
Laura, you're not the only person on the pickup team
to have a WikiFreak page.
You have one?
Sadly, no.
Sadly, it's not me.
Well, it's not me.
Well, why don't we go to a break?
What I've done is I've compiled your reviews, Laura.
I've read, there's comments too.
There's a very active community.
I'm abreast of what's happening on my WikiFeet page.
Thank you very much.
Do you go and read your reviews?
You're a sicko.
Well, I've compiled them.
I need the compliments, goddammit.
Brittany, breaking news.
I do not.
Don't even joke.
Oh, you do.
You have broken ground.
Pinky Toe has breached the internet.
Brittany Hockley.
Rubbish.
You have a WikiFeet page.
You've got WikiFeet, baby.
I don't believe that.
I would know.
I just told you, so now you do.
You certainly do.
And we did not make this.
You're pulling my leg.
No, I'm not.
As if you haven't just made this.
I have got the results.
I've compiled your WikiFeet page.
Am I going to pit you against each other?
We've had a revelation here on the show.
WikiFeet is a website that exists.
It's run by a bunch of creeps online that take photos from famous people's Instagram
and social media pages exclusively of their feet and reshare them
and rate them out of five online.
Would you say that maybe they're a little bit toe-y?
No.
Ew.
People need to get a life.
Producer Grace just gave you a thumbs up, Laura.
The bar is so low for comedy on this show.
I actually think the whole concept of this page is disgusting.
I think they need to heal.
Oh, okay.
And you think I was bad.
I think you nailed it.
Okay.
There is a very funny thing, though, because on the WikiFeet page,
you would think that most people are using this for, like, kinks,
you know, people who have a foot fetish.
Which is real, Laura.
But they do say, this is the disclaimer on every WikiFeet page.
The comment section is intended for intellectual discussion
over symmetry and aesthetics.
Insultive, bigoted, sexually explicit comments
or any political discussions are strictly prohibited.
Describing your fantasies are also prohibited.
Laura, you are absolutely kidding yourself
if you think people aren't doing stuff with these photos.
Oh, no.
Look, I like to pretend like they're not, but I know they are.
And I wish they were paying me for it.
Can you imagine if your feet were so ugly they were dividing people's political opinions?
Mine would, I reckon.
Well, they have because, Laura, we've spoken about it on this show before.
Laura is active on WikiFeet because any chance she can get those things around.
You said you've read all the reviews.
You're active.
And here we go.
I've got the results.
Laura Byrne, who is a WikiFeet star.
VIP.
VIP.
Laura has got five toes and she's got 4.7 out of five stars.
Wow, that's really high.
Pretty good.
I have particularly ugly feet, I think, so that's really flattering
and that gives me the confidence boost I need in life.
What I want to say is I see Laura's feet up close on me every day
and I just wanted to be noted that there are no close-ups
of these feet here.
That's probably why I should go to 4.7.
No, Mitch, read the comments.
No, I'm getting there.
The star system then correlates to a comment system.
This is a wiki feet algorithm.
Based on your 4.7 out of 5 stars, wiki feet,
rate your feet as beautiful feet.
That is what WikiFeet have said.
Thank you, WikiFeet.
Orver has beautiful feet.
Thank you.
Wow, you should be really proud of that.
I just wanted to read the comments because I really feel flattered by it.
Well, top comment from CrimeDog1.
Someone needs some validation on her feet.
It's so funny.
CrimeDog1, which is someone you want on your team,
has commented, very sexy.
Thank you.
Thank you, CrimeDog1.
Actaloid says, she peels a banana.
I do peel a banana.
He listens to The Pickup.
He's a fan.
Brudda Tito says, I think she has beautiful, pretty feet and toes.
Plus that beautiful, contagious smile.
Gorgeous in all caps.
All right, Brudda Tito.
It's about the feet, not the smile.
You can't get extra points.
You start at the bottom, you end at the top.
Isn't that how it goes?
So Laura, guys, is locked in at 4.7 by WikiFeet standard.
Beautiful feet.
Well done, Laura.
4.7 is something to be proud of.
Guys, it really does make me happy because I do feel as though I have ugly feet.
And any time I look at them and think they're ugly, I go on my WikiFeet page
and then I'm filled with hope.
You are disgusting.
You need to get a hobby.
You make good money.
You've got a lovely family.
I'm going to start selling feet pics because, like,
in this economy, everyone could do with a little bit more.
The question on everyone's minds right now is Laura's got 4.7
out of 5 feet.
How does Brittany Hockley fit?
I don't even reckon I'm on this page.
You are a new addition to WikiFeet.
Producer Grace and I did the digging and we found
that you have been added.
You don't have as many photos or ratings as Laura Byrne.
So I'm a new, okay.
No, there's still quite a few.
There's still quite a few photos here.
all of them shoeless.
Oh, no, one pair of sandals, a behind shot of the sole of your foot.
All right, here we go.
Brittany Hockley.
This is ridiculous.
I don't know if I want to know.
You do want to know.
You have, out of five, on WikiFeet, four out of five stars.
Oh, I will take that.
That's pretty good.
And by WikiFeet standard, you've been put in the category of nice feet.
I'll take nice.
I will take anything above doable.
You also have just one comment.
Above poofs.
You've just got one comment.
Only one comment?
That means I am new.
From Snoopy07.
So he's a dog and he's 12 years old.
He's out there snooping.
He says, very cute.
Oh, that's nice.
Oh, thanks, Snoopy.
Is he talking about her feet, though, or just in general?
Because these are all photos taken from far away.
Why have I only got one comment?
I don't know.
Are you jealous now?
See?
I'm not jealous.
You haven't started a conversation.
Mitch, I am wondering why you're actually in one of my photos on WikiFeet.
Oh, my God, that's me.
You're in it.
It's our trip to Bali.
Oh, my God, did the algorithm register my face as a foot?
No, I think the thing, the person who should be the most offended
by all of this is the fact that you, Mitch, don't have a WikiFeet page.
You've been left out.
Because I don't post my feet on the socials enough.
That's not it.
That's not it.
One of these photos, half a foot's cut out.
That's why I got four.
If that other foot was in, that's a five.
What I want to do now is I'm going to get you guys to take a photo of me.
I'm going to say studio days and I'm going to have no shoes on.
Feet on the desk.
Feet on the desk.
Pen in your toes.
And then we'll check back in, Grace, next week
and we will see if I've been added to WikiFeet.
One can only hope.
One can dream, baby.
If you do like feet, please add Mitch to WikiFeet.
Yeah.
Maybe go give me some comments.
Yeah.
No, just add me.
It needs to be even playing field.
Someone submit for me.
I really do.
Mitch, I put you in one of my photos and it didn't take off.
You can lead a horse to water.
I'm a size 13, guys, and a wide foot.
I need orthotics.
Are you getting me?
I'm listening.
We post a picture with orthotics.
Oh, yeah.
Go viral.
Break the internet.
Ladies, something that you know that I'm very passionate about
that I want to talk about today is the story of Joshua Taylor Miles.
He's a junior Cronulla Sharks player, NRL player,
who has two of the most horrific tattoos, text aside,
the message that they portray aside, horrific-looking tattoos,
on his quads.
These tattoos.
You like just ugly tattoos anyway.
No, it's what they say.
They're horrible.
They're really bad tattoos.
So the tattoos on his left thigh says eat shit
and then it's a gay slur, a slur against gay people, the F slur.
I'm not going to say it because I think it's disgusting.
On the other leg it says snort lines and F.
The F word.
So he's full of class.
Oh, yeah, he's a classy 23-year-old kid.
Disgusting tattoos.
I'm a gay man.
I've got a boyfriend.
I also live in Cronulla.
I'm a Cronulla boy.
My dad is an ex-Cronulla Sharks player.
played for the Cronulla Sharks reserve team like 30 years ago. And now I live right around the
corner from the Sharky Stadium. So this hits really close to home. Let me read what the
Cronulla Sharks or the junior NRL squad said. They said the NSW, NRL and Cronulla Junior are
committed to providing a safe, fun and inclusive environment for all people. So what we've asked
Josh to do is cover the tattoos up or we'll ban him. So cover the tattoos up and he can keep
playing. Mitch, how do you feel about that as being an adequate response to this? Because I
I know how much this affects you and how when you saw this,
what that meant, like what that did for you and what that did to you.
What does covering it up, like is that enough?
I had a visceral reaction to this.
It angered me, like deeply angered me.
First of all, the way we found out about these tattoos
was the junior Cronulla Sharks Instagram page posted it
at a professional photo shoot of them playing.
They posted it.
With the tattoo showing.
With the tattoo showing.
Obviously they didn't see it.
They didn't notice.
but the fact that that slur was posted to their Instagram
without anybody knowing tells me there's not a gay man that works
in the NRL and the Cronulla show.
But also, I don't believe that it could be possible
for that entire team to not know what was written on his legs,
for the coach to not know what was written on his legs.
No, they wear short shorts.
He's always wearing shorts and it's very visible what has been written.
It's not like this is small.
This covers the entirety of the front of his thighs.
Listen, here's the thing.
It goes deeper.
So he's gone to Bali and he's gotten the tattoos covered up.
So he sat down with the management at Junior Sharkies
and they've said, cover it up and you can play.
He's gone to Bali to rub it in.
He's documented the whole process on Instagram stories.
Of covering it.
Covering them up.
He's got, I don't even know what he's covered it up with.
There's an eyeball and there's a bear and shark.
Like he's got full now.
It's like a viking and a bear.
Yeah, full quad tattoos.
It is covered up.
He posted on his Insta story, gone but not forgotten.
I think this is so completely disgusting.
And I know that if you worked in any other workplace,
If you rocked up with a visible tattoo that was discriminatory in any way
about race, religion, sexuality, it doesn't matter.
You would lose your job for that.
And I think that we make so many allowances for people
who work in the sporting world because we see them as icons.
It's like if you can throw a ball and you're really good at sport,
you can get away with so many things that other people
are not given the allowances on.
But also in this, I mean, we all remember back in 2019,
Israel Folau, he lost his $4 million contract
because he had posted very publicly on social media
that hell was a place for gay people or something to that effect.
I don't want to quote exactly, but that's what it was about.
And he doubled down on this.
And I think that this is the same thing because he's doubled down.
The thing that he posted on Instagram saying gone but not forgotten,
it means that even though, yes, he might have covered the tattoos,
he still holds those values.
He still believes very strongly in the things that he's posting.
And whether or not we like it,
people who play in professional sport in Australia,
they are role models
they are icons
they are influencers
he's a father
he's a father
he's got a son
totally
him having these views
it allows other people
to hold those views
and it makes it okay
for other people
to say those things
yeah but Laura
as a gay person
it scares me
you know
I don't think I've even
told you girls this
two months ago
I don't know
I was in Cronulla
with my boyfriend Stephen
getting ice cream
it was like 9pm
I was called the F slur
on the street of Cronulla
by a bunch of boys
walking out of North East pub
now I know Cronulla
and North East
doesn't have a reputation
for being the most inclusive place,
but I've been born and raised in Cronulla.
I'm eating ice cream with my boyfriend.
I'm harming nobody and I get called a slur.
And I'm a big, strong boy.
I can cop that, right?
But, I mean, you say that to a young queer boy,
a boy that doesn't even know his identity.
It's not about whether you are strong enough to cop it.
It's about the fact that you shouldn't have to be in a position
to be strong enough to cop it.
That's why I think he should be stood down immediately.
If I came to work with a shirt on that had any slur,
about any different minority group or any person that's different to the norm,
I'd be fired on the spot.
I think he should be fired because if that is what he's happy to promote on his body,
imagine what he says behind closed doors.
As someone that grew up with their dad playing for the Cronulla Sharks,
you grew up in Cronulla.
They are your team.
How do you feel now knowing that something that you supported doesn't support you?
It's hurtful.
It's so deeply hurtful.
And if, you know, I mean, the natural response is to say, sack him.
You know, like it's easy.
But it's genuinely how I feel.
Unless he can sit face-to-face with me or members of the queer community
and tell us why he feels that way, I'd love to know why.
I'd love to know what thought process this guy had when he sat down,
however old he was, and got these tattoos on his body.
Because, I mean, it's scary.
All right, we love talking about relationships here.
I mean, Britt, you and I, we have a relationships podcast, Life Uncut.
We talk about relationships all day long.
I now have a relationship.
She's an expert.
It took me a while.
We've all got one, which means we can talk on them.
We're experts now.
you know, we've been in them. So surely that's, that's all it takes, right? Okay. Well, there's
this guy. He was a tradie. Now he's a relationship, actually kind of a controversial relationship
expert, one might say. But he's amassed like 470,000 followers on TikTok. His name is Jake
Maddock. Now he has some, I think some of his advice is quite good and some of it,
it's a bit on the nose, but he's come out recently and has a theory around blocking
blocking people on Instagram at your partner's request. Now, I'd love to know, firstly, give us
a call. If your partner has ever asked you to block someone on Instagram or on TikTok, and how
did you respond to that? Like, what did you do? I'd love to hear. I've had exes ask me to block
people on Instagram, and I've asked them to block people on Instagram. Okay, well, I want to hear
about your experience, Mitch. Okay, have a listen to this. This is Jake's advice. When she gets a
text from a guy you don't like, say, block that guy for me, just like that. And she'll go, oh,
okay, no worries, easy, and she'll block him, and then that's it.
Super easy.
Your ideal partner will do it straight away.
So even the first few weeks of dating my wife,
she got a text from a friend.
I said, block that guy for me.
She goes, yeah, no worries, done.
I go, awesome, done.
One sentence, no argument, awesome.
That's the way it should be.
You should happily block someone for your partner.
Whatever, Jake, you loser.
Tell us what you really think, Britt.
That's so stupid.
What if you were texting, a guy texted you on Instagram,
and Ben said block him?
If my friend messaged me and I had been dating my partner for three weeks,
my friend, and my partner said, block him, I would say, get stuffed.
You do not control me to the point that you say who I can
and can't be friends with.
And the fact that Jake is like the ideal partner will do what you say
and conform and be controlled, whatever, Jake, you're a loser.
I call BS.
I still think you'd ask Ben to block someone for you.
Not a friend.
He literally said, her friend, he said, I started dating a girl.
Her friend messaged him.
I said, block him, don't like him.
A friend, no, but someone that they've been with and you know about
or someone that you don't like that they're not friends with,
I think you would, I would.
Have you asked your, you said before you've asked an ex to block someone.
Yeah, my ex.
I asked my ex to block someone and they did and then they asked me
and I did but I wouldn't now.
It definitely comes from insecurity.
I can say that happened.
I was going to say, I've asked her in the past, my ex-boyfriend,
like he received messages from girls, surprise, surprise,
because he was cheating on me, but I remember being like block them
and kind of trying to make,
and I know they weren't the problem,
but I guess a part of me wanted the girls to be the problem,
not him to be the problem.
But really, of course it was him
because he was giving all the signals
that he was interested in them.
That's why they were messaging him in the first place.
100% my situation.
I only ever asked someone to block someone once,
my ex, I asked him to block a girl only because,
and I saw all the messages,
it was like proper harassment.
She wasn't over the fact that they broke up
and she was constantly messaging, messaging, messaging, messaging,
like and crazy kind of stuff like and I was like and it wasn't a big I wasn't insecure I wasn't in
insecurity I was like just blocker like you don't need you don't need that yeah you don't have to
be nice when people are being like incessantly intruding on your space online but I do think
I think it's an interesting one because I disagree with what he said and I do agree with you Britt
in saying that you know you can't control your partners and tell them who they can and can't
follow on Instagram and all that sort of stuff but I do think sometimes it can be very telling
if your partner is having like chatty conversations
with other people online
and feels really strongly about blocking someone
who they shouldn't have any relationship with or care about.
I would actually, what's his name?
Josh Jake, who was this idiot?
Jake, Jake, Jake Maddock.
Jake, I would flip this on its head.
He says the ideal partner will do as you say and block them.
I would say, Josh Jake, whatever your name is,
I would say the ideal partner wouldn't ask you to block a friend.
He's secure enough in the relationship.
I agree.
100%.
I agree.
Grow up, Jake.
Listen, I'd be interested, though, just to hear if it has happened to you.
I'd love to know because, you know, I can be swayed.
If there's a genuine reason in your life why you've had to block someone,
let us know.
We'll take your calls next.
Okay, so we were just talking about, if you missed this just before the break,
we were talking about a controversial relationship expert
who has been dishing out some advice.
His name is Jake Maddock and he's, you know, quite prolific on TikTok.
and he is of the opinion that if your partner asks you
without any explanation or context to block someone on Instagram
or on TikTok, that you should do it.
That that is what defines a good partner.
I call BS.
Yeah, this is what he had to say.
When she gets a text from a guy you don't like, say,
block that guy for me, just like that, and she'll go, oh, okay,
no worries, easy, and she'll block him and then that's it.
Super easy.
Your ideal partner will do it straight away.
So even the first few weeks of dating my wife,
she got a text from a friend.
I said, block that guy for me.
She goes, yeah, no worries.
Done.
I go, awesome.
Done.
One sentence.
No argument.
Awesome.
That's the way it should be.
You should happily block someone for your partner.
Ew, it gives me the ick.
No argument.
Put ideal partner.
She should do what you say.
I'm sorry.
Ick.
Okay, there's some people who you should block without any argument,
but, like, if it's your friend who sent you a text message,
I don't think you should just be blocking anyone
because some guy you've been dating for three weeks demands that you do so.
That's a massive red flag.
It just screams early relationship, right?
No, it screams control freak.
It actually, to me, I agree with you, Britt, that screams like massive red flag about someone
who is controlling in a relationship.
Oh, definitely.
But I would never dream of doing that in a relationship now.
But as a younger, I would have gone, oh, my insecurities would have been strife.
But now as an adult, it wouldn't have happened.
Well, I think it's based off two things, insecurity and control.
They're the only two reasons you are demanding your partner block someone.
You are insecure and you feel like something's going on or you want to control who that person
has in their life.
Especially without context.
Like it's different if you're like, hey, that makes me feel uncomfortable.
or can you block them?
And they go, oh, this is my friend.
We've been friends for years.
Let's go out for dinner.
I want you to meet them, you know,
and allows this whole idea of like no argument, no protest.
No, he actually said, there you go.
Boom.
One sentence.
No, I mean, one sentence didn't explain it.
One sentence, no argument.
That's what your ideal partner should do.
Mic drop.
Like, I'm going to mic drop it on your face, Jack.
I love how mad you are by this.
Because it screams control to me.
That's what it is.
And the idea that he's like,
your ideal partner should do what you say.
I don't need to explain myself.
This is what he said.
I don't need to explain it.
She shouldn't put up an argument.
Like for me, I'm sorry.
I can't believe she married him, to be honest.
All right.
Well, we did put out a call to get to hear if you've ever been in a situation where your
partner has expected you to block someone.
Or maybe on the flip side, maybe you're the person who expects that your partner does
the blocking on social media.
Yeah.
It's an interesting little social experiment, Georgia.
Have you been in this situation?
Hi.
I was the one asked to do the blocking.
So it was years ago.
It was my early 20s.
early 20s. I was young and naive and my toxic boyfriend came out of nowhere and said, hey,
this girl that you've never even heard of, could you just do me a favor and block her?
And I went, oh, okay then. But I knew I had the gut feeling.
I mean, it's pretty obvious.
Yeah. But also, your ex is an idiot. Like, I mean, he probably could have gotten away
with it if he just stayed silent. But being like, hey, can you block this complete random
person you've never heard of, never seen before? All that's going to do is ring alarm bells.
So, I mean, we're reading between the lines.
He cheated on you, right?
He definitely was.
It wasn't his sister.
Gina, last one.
This happened to you.
Yes, hello.
Hi, how are you going?
Yes, it did.
It happened to me.
Hello.
I had my now husband, his ex-girlfriend,
popped up on our Instagram, on his Instagram,
started liking photos and commenting.
And I was about six months pregnant at the time
and she treated him really poorly.
but basically what happened was she started messaging him
and then ended up sending him the equivalent of, like,
a five-page sort of letter saying how she'd made a mistake
and how she'd missed him and how, you know, how much, like,
she still loved him and that she was...
Like, you have to shoot your shot.
If you think that it's, like, the love of your life has gotten away,
you'd probably try one last time.
And I tell you what, like I let it go up until that point.
But the fact was is that we actually lived in a different state to her
and she'd actually mentioned that she was moving to Sydney
and that she wanted to catch up with him.
End it.
And things got really weird after that too.
What did he say?
When you were like block it, what was his reaction?
Did he do it straight away or did he?
Nah, his first reaction was like, oh, she doesn't mean anything by it
and she's just nice.
I love you.
She can see that you're six months pregnant.
Yeah.
Yeah, but, like, he's one of those people that always gives the benefit
of the doubt, whereas I'm like, no, this is not my first radio.
She was pretty clear.
She was, yeah, her intentions were clear.
Wow.
See, there you go.
Maybe there are reasons for that.
I think there's definitely reasons, but I don't like the way this guy
communicates it, saying that it should be, reasons are irrelevant.
You have to block anyone your partner tells you to.
I also don't like him for other reasons.
Yeah, if he said jump off a cliff, you ain't jumping off a cliff.
