Starting point is 00:03:15 If you want to come see me perform, I will be on the High and Mighty Tour. Hi, Catherine. Hi, Chelsea. How are you? Oh, good. We just came back from a heli-ski trip. That was really fun.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Oh, so are you like dropping out of the helicopter into the snow? Yes. Yes, basically. But you're not jumping out in your skis. You jump out of the helicopter and then the guide has your skis in like a little basket on the side. So it's quite dramatic, actually.
Starting point is 00:03:47 You have to like sit there and get down while the helicopter takes off and then snow swirls around and you're on the top of a fucking mountain once he leaves. So then you have to ski down and you have no choice. There are times I worry about your physical safety. There are times where I worry about my physical safety. I was with my whistler starting four. We went to Bella Coola Heli skiing. It was just so ridiculous and fun.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And we shot my birthday video. And I definitely got hypothermia. So there's that. And then we toured the lodge up. We were there. It was like being on safari, but in snow. And we had one day where we couldn't ski because of weather. So that led to drinking and, you know, other things.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And we just really tore that place apart. And I just want to say thank you to Bella Coola. Because they invited us. and it was a home run of a trip. And now I'm getting ready to go home to start. I'm going home for LA so I can pack for my tour. And I start this weekend with DC, Atlantic City, and Virginia. Yeah, you're doing a bunch of traveling.
Starting point is 00:04:47 You're not going to the Olympics, are you? No, I'm not going to the Olympics. Not going to pop by this time? Not this time. I know you had to mention that you had threatened it could happen. Yeah, I'm going to go for my birthday. I've decided to go to Finland. Wow.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yes, I'm going to go ski under the northern lights, hopefully, or we're going to see the Northern Lights. I'm going with one of my man friend, my only man friend. I shouldn't say one of mine. Only current man friend. My current cowboy man friend, yeah. That's excellent. I'm so excited for you.
Starting point is 00:05:17 How are you? What's happening? I'm good. I'm feeling better. You know, penetration is back in action. Oh, wow. Yeah, things are going great. My marriage is wonderful.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Good, good. You know, I don't know what happened. He's in therapy, and he's just been so patient with me lately. It's really nice. I got to tell you. That's nice. A man in therapy, green flags all around. We love to see it.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Yeah, if we could only just get every man in therapy, then we'd be all set. And every woman, obviously. But I think men have a lot more to work out. They do. They need the upgrade, as you have called it. I'm so excited about our guest today. She is just a wonderful human being. Our guest today is an author, teacher, speaker, and psychic medium. Her newest book is called
Starting point is 00:06:02 Guided, The Secret Path to an Illuminated Life, which is out now. Please welcome my very good friend, Laura Lynn Jackson. Okay. Yay. We're here with Laura Lynn Jackson, you guys. She has a new book out. It's called Guided, The Secret Path to an Illuminated Life. She's a New York Times bestselling author also. Signs, she wrote. Signs from the universe, right? The secret language of the universe. Signs, the secret language of the universe. You got it. Okay. Laura Lynn Jackson has, I've been friends with you for probably 15 years. I talk about you on this podcast all the time. You've helped me in so many times in my life. I remember when I broke up with Jo Coy, I called her to see like if it was a permanent breakup or if it was a temporary breakup.
Starting point is 00:06:47 and first of all, you're so comforting, but she always, she said, this is really about you taking your highest path possible. She said, so any anger, anything you feel, just, I just want you to rise up. Like this is not about, you know, reacting or, or getting angry or getting, you know, of course I was upset at the time, but she gave me the most powerful advice because I literally took that to heart every single day. I was like, I am above, I am above the noise of this. I am going to rise above this and act with grace and dignity and not talk badly about anybody or say anything negative. And then she said, and you're going to hear from him. And she gave me a three day window, like six months from that point, she gave me a three day window and she goes, you're going to
Starting point is 00:07:37 hear from him in that three day window, six months later, which by the time, by that point, You forgot about it, right? I had forgotten about it. But in that time, I didn't hear from him, but I did hear from someone very close to him about him in that time frame. And that's just one of the times that you have been so dead on about stuff with me. And we have a lot of mutual friends who you've helped, too. And then there's other example that I want to share is I was going through a really difficult time when I started getting back into stand-up, like selling my specials. I did my first one with HBO.
Starting point is 00:08:11 that I was shopping the second one and everyone was passing on it. And I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what do you mean? You're passing on me? Like, I feel like I'm like a legend. Like, what, what? You are a legend. I'm like, wait, wait, wait, nobody wants my special.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I couldn't believe it. And I called you and I was so upset. I'm like, maybe my career's over. This was like four or five years ago. It was the one that you self-produced and everything, right? Yeah, I paid for it and then I ended up paying for it. And then I was like, I'll just sell it once it's made. And Laura said to me, and Netflix had passed on it, Netflix said, we can't afford Chelsea's
Starting point is 00:08:47 special or something like that, which was whatever. And I was like, well, I've got to get it on a platform. And Laura goes, Netflix is going to change their mind and they're going to come back around. And I said, they've already passed. And she said, they're going to come back around. And guess what? Out of the blue, Netflix called and said, we want to buy your special.
Starting point is 00:09:04 So two examples out of a million. So anyway, thank you and welcome to the podcast. Thank you so much for having me on here. I just love being in conversation with you. Well, you're the best. I mean, you've helped so many people. You're such a warm and fuzzy person to have in your life. You have such maternal energy, and you have such, like, divine feminine, if you will, energy.
Starting point is 00:09:26 And it's always very—it comes from such a sincere place, and it comes from such a place of love. And I know you, and I know that you have the gift. So while there are many people who claim to have gifts, I think many people do actually naturally have, you know, intuitiveness and it's about kind of honing your skills, right? Like really understanding how to, like, if you practice something multiple times and for years, you're going to get good at that. A hundred percent. And that's what you've done once you realized that you had a gift because you were in a
Starting point is 00:09:55 completely different career. Yes, I was. I was a teacher. Yes. High school English teacher. An high school English teacher. And how did you know that's something that you needed to head in a different direction? Yeah, I had no intention of ever leaving teaching. I actually loved it. I just felt so connected to all the students. I felt
Starting point is 00:10:12 so fulfilled by it. It was just the most loving environment. I got to talk about literature and like inner struggles and outer struggles and inner victories and outer ones and all of that, right? And this ability that I had just got so pronounced after I had my first daughter. and I just started volunteering for an organization called Forever Family Foundation in secret, right? And I would just try and help people in grief. And then I volunteered to do a certain evening event and people from my school found out about it. And we're like, is this you? And my husband's like, you have to go tell the principal. You might need to stop doing this. So I did tell the principal, but she was super supportive and loving about it. And shortly after that, I went and I sat
Starting point is 00:10:52 on my hall duty and I got this insane download from the universe. It was like a seven hour conversation that took place in a millisecond. And they said to me, you're going to be writing a book. You're going to go be a teacher of this in the world. You're going to go be a speaker. This is going to go on TV. And I thought like, whoa. So when I get downloads like that, it's not an ask. It's not a question. It's not a discussion. It's an absolute. So I came home and I told my husband, I was like, I'm going to be writing a book and I'm going to be doing this. And he knows enough about this where he's like, okay, let's embrace that. And within 24 hours, everything started lining up where I had somebody offering to be my agent, somebody offering to help like
Starting point is 00:11:29 with the writing process. It was amazing. It was such a beautiful nod from the universe. And so I wrote my first book. I took a leave of absence from teaching. And the moment I hit send on my first book to my editor, which you know, Julie, we share an editor, Julie Grau. She's amazing. Julie Grau and now Whitney Frick. We share two editors. Yes, I do. See, our paths are intertwined. We are. And both of whom are so amazing, right? They're incredible editors, incredible people. But I hit send and I got a download for Signs, my second book, right? And I thought, okay, wow. I asked for an extended leave of absence and they were like, nope, you need to come back or you need to resign. And I had no idea what to do. So I waited for what I
Starting point is 00:12:08 call my knowing and it took a while. And one day about, I say I got that directive from my district in February. And in July, mid-July that year, I woke up from just being asleep and I had absolute clarity that I was leaving teaching. And I was really sad and at the same time really happy. So I sent him my notice at that point and that's my story. I trust my journey. I think teaching was such a beautiful career for me, but I think what I'm doing here, I'm still teaching and this is my calling. And I think it's so important to go really quiet sometimes within yourselves and find out what your soul is tugging you to. Find out what you're being guided to because there are all different paths we can take here. Like what you were just talking about
Starting point is 00:12:54 when you and Joe broke up and you took this beautiful high path, like your highest path possible in being so light-filled and just being so pure in your own way of being. What you did in that moment, you modeled for countless other people how to be so grounded in your own light in the midst of a breakup and to be vulnerable in a way when I was heartbroken to be vulnerable and not try to pretend anything else other than the reality was going on which is something that you know if you hadn't said that to me I would have just protected myself and not shared anything you know I was and I was like oh yes and you are one of the only people that I can hear talk about the universe and not want to throw up because I understand what this book is, which is a beautiful
Starting point is 00:13:41 recollection of so many people's stories and anecdotes about them receiving messages from people who they love that lost. But when you really tune in to you, what you taught me is that when you really tune in to the universe and really accept the fails or the misses without without letting it knock you over and just go, well, that's not meant to be. Literally, it's not meant to be and let it go. Then everything starts coming together in a much more universal way. You see the sign, you see the signs, you know, like when you accept and you move into acceptance of any situation, everything starts to become easier. It's so true when you surrender that. And I think things that don't work out for us are profound lessons too. And
Starting point is 00:14:30 they build us and they shift us and they create us. But I want to say too, when you were so willing to show your authenticity and vulnerability to everybody, you were guiding people. Here's the thing. We are all intertwined. Like all our lives matter and all affect one another. And so what a great platform that was for everybody to witness your grace, your power, your light, because it informed them on their own journeys, right? It's so beautiful. Yeah. And I remember the next day because I had done Glennon Doyle's and Abby's podcast, We Can Do Hard Things, and I just let it rip on that. And I woke up the next morning,
Starting point is 00:15:08 and there were literally 4,000 DMs from people saying, thank you so much for being honest about your breakup. Thank you for being vulnerable. And that in itself, reading all of those DMs, just healed me. Like, I was healed. I was like, oh, I just put out my honesty, and I got back like a whole big hug from the universe.
Starting point is 00:15:28 so we're going to say universe a lot in this episode you guys so bear with us and then I would say you know with all my house drama that I've talked about on this podcast and all that mess I definitely have shifted out of that energy phase I've now understood like I had to go to Mallorca
Starting point is 00:15:44 I had to be alone I had to not drink for a few weeks eat healthy work out but when I called her which was more than once about this house I was like Laura what is the lesson why is this going on with so much money so i'm never i don't have a home it's been four years i felt it felt so taken advantage of and what did you tell me every time i don't know what did you tell me
Starting point is 00:16:08 that's funny you told me it comes from me it comes through me she said this is remember she said repeatedly this is not your lesson this is someone else's karma this is not your karma you're like you're just here as a vessel this is not your lesson and i'm like as a vessel and she said because you a you can get through this you can afford all of this so it's better like it's happening to you because you can absorb it and and and it's not about you it's about other people within this situation their lessons and what they were navigating or not doing a good job navigating right and the first time i didn't hear you i was like that doesn't make any sense and then the second time i did because i was in my orca and we spoke briefly well audio messaged back and forth
Starting point is 00:16:49 and she said it and it clicked because I was in a space to hear it where I was finally calm and relaxed. And I was like, this isn't the end of the world, you know? Okay. So I want to talk about one of the stories in your introduction, which is about a doctor. And so I want you to tell us this story. The book opens with this beautiful universal connection between two souls. And so tell us the story. So the book opens with a really quick snapshot of two stories. It's like, I want to tell you two stories. The first takes place in 1981, and it's a doctor who has a premature little baby he's caring for, and there's a 50-50 chance this baby may survive, but this doctor is so committed. He just stays overnight. He doesn't sleep. He's so
Starting point is 00:17:35 focused on willing this little baby to live, and the baby does live. That's the first happy story. The second story takes place 30 years later, and there's a man driving an SUV down the highway in California. And suddenly, a semi-tractor truck comes out of nowhere, slams into him. His SUV is pinned against the wall, and it catches fire. He can't get out. But so luckily, there are paramedics coming back from a call nearby, and they just happen to be there at the right time, and they extinguish the fire, they get the jaws of life, get him out, and the man lives. But the thing is, it's not two separate stories. It's the same one, because the man in the SUV is the doctor, Michael Shannon, who had saved the premature baby's life, and the EMT who saves him is Chris Troche, the premature baby whose life he had saved 30 years before. And that is just a really quick snapshot of the magic that exists, the interconnectedness of all our lives. Because if that's true for them, it's true for all of us. That one just happens to be one we can look at and see really clearly in hindsight how profound those connections are.
Starting point is 00:18:49 But I think for all of us, you know, the other side has told me that we all save other people's lives. And we're none the wiser until we cross one day, do our life review, and then we're like, oh, my gosh, I did that? So our own view of our own lives and what we deem as success or failures of what we're really doing here is so myopic. It's so limited. We don't have the whole picture. Yes, that's something worth pausing on and highlighting because we all get so caught up, especially in the society in which we live today.
Starting point is 00:19:19 We get so caught up in the moment. I know I do. I'm so guilty of it, of getting small when I should be, you know, higher. Like, I want to be the cloud. I don't want to be the storm. I want to be the cloud above the storm. Yeah, that's a great analogy. And it's so important to remember, like, everything does seem to work out.
Starting point is 00:19:36 You know what I mean? Like, for the most part, everything does seem to work out. And when you subscribe to this theory that she's talking about, like, I love when you talk about life reviews in the afterlife and that there is an afterlife and that when people send you messages. Like, I remember asking you this question, being confused. And I think from reading this book, I figured it out. If someone's in the afterlife, like if my mom is sending me oranges, which is my symbol with my mom, if my mom's sending me oranges, then is she also, has she been reincarnated? Because how did she have time to be in the afterlife if she's in the, if she's being,
Starting point is 00:20:11 you know, and then I'm like, well, wait, if we're believing in all of that, then people can be everywhere at the same time. That doesn't mean that she's not here. That just means she's still with me. You got it. Right. That's so true. And our concept here of time is so linear.
Starting point is 00:20:25 It's like this canvas that moves forward. On the other side, time doesn't really exist, and our soul energy is always really there. We're never separate from each other, from those we love. This is more like a virtual reality we beam into, and these brains are really just like dunce caps, you know? They're not the source of our consciousness. They're, like, limiting our consciousness so that we can't remember all the truths that we know. Yeah, and there's a section of the book where you talk about the telepathy tapes, that podcast. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:50 cast. That's about autistic children and how they have gifts. They have, you know, some of their perceptions and their abilities are like, if you can't speak, that would heighten the rest of your other senses, you know, theoretically. Right. And I think that's kind of like in the chapter, you talk about showing a number behind a, like, is it a window or? Yeah. What, what the research started with was Dr. Diane Hennessey Powell started researching autistic savants who seemingly could calculate like these incredible digits just like that. But in time as she researched, she realized what was going on was that these children who were savants were actually telepathically seeing the number that their caregiver had on a calculator. They weren't
Starting point is 00:21:35 calculating it. They were reading the person's mind. And then that research led into understanding that these children, many of who are nonverbal, so they're spellers, which means they use an alphabet board to communicate, or sometimes they type, or some can be verbal. They share that not only are they telepathic with the people they love, like their mom, their dad, their teachers, but with each other and their mediums. So they're in communication with people who are no longer in a physical body and getting all sorts of messages at all times. Right. So in this study, and if you've ever listened to that podcast, Telepathy Tapes, have you? Yeah. Yes. I listened to a few episodes of that because it's like in this study, you could write down a number on a board. You
Starting point is 00:22:14 not show the number. And just because the person is thinking that number and wrote it down, the kid knows exactly what it is before it's even, just because the thought is out there. So it's like, you know, I mean, what is that called? Are they like telepathic? Yeah. Right. Or telepathic. Yeah. And are they tapping into like universal intelligence? So it's interesting, like it seems to be that they know all sorts of things that they were never taught about history. They know great works of literature that they've never read. And what they've shared is that when they go to this place they call The Hill, which is very similar to where I go when I read. And actually, I did some work with one of the girls, and she took me to The Hill, which was fascinating.
Starting point is 00:22:56 But there are people who lived here on Earth who were great thought leaders or writers or change agents who are still so invested in our world and helping us. And it's those people, and it's all that knowledge that exists, and they can download in a millisecond. So it's fascinating. They know so much and they've experienced so much. They actually, if they're, let's say the girl that I've worked with, her name's Amelia, her mom listened to signs on her earbuds like Amelia couldn't have heard it all. And Amelia knew everything from the book and said she wanted to meet the cool book lady because she had heard all and felt my energy through the book.
Starting point is 00:23:32 It's fascinating how these things unfold. And what it really shows is how interconnected we all are all the time. Right. We just can't see it. Yeah, but it makes you want to hone those skills, you know, to really tune into other people, to know that even if you're having a thought, like if you're having a negative thought, that affects the energy in the room. Like the molecules.
Starting point is 00:23:53 You nailed it. You nailed it. What I have come to understand from all the research I've done, and I do really deep dives on like quantum research and what this means, and thoughts are energy. They're light energy. And every single thought we have either puts more light into the world or more darkness. It is an energy exchange. That's it.
Starting point is 00:24:11 So what do we do when we have like negative thoughts too? Because that's a very real state of being human. We catch ourselves. We recognize that we're having them and we talk over them gently with positive thoughts. You know, if you wake up and you're like, today's going to be the worst day, blah, blah, blah, you have to catch yourself and go like, actually, no, today and being alive here on Earth School is a gift. And I'm so excited to see what my team of light unfolds for me.
Starting point is 00:24:33 The people, the experiences, the situations that are going to be brought into my path And I hope that I just keep my mind and heart open to recognize the spiritual gift in it. Yeah. That's all you do. And a fun game also is when you have a negative thought is to like flip it upside down. Like, oh, God, I can't believe I have to go deal with this. And you're like, oh, how fun is this going to be? You know, like you kind of play a game until you, and then you're kind of amusing yourself.
Starting point is 00:25:00 You're like, okay, let's see how good I can make this. Yeah. What a fun adventure to go, you know, deal with my contractor again. How fun. Like, what a fun challenge. This is exciting. Maybe this will be our last meeting, you know? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:25:13 That kind of attitude really does change the vibration. Yeah. And when you talk about – so Laura talks all the way – I mean, she uses the term teams of light. Like, we all have a team of light. Does everyone have a different – everyone obviously has a different team of light. Does anyone, like, any of these light workers work for multiple – I mean, work on multiple teams? It's so interesting. Sometimes I suspect there are teams of light that have been brought here on earth and that our guides kind of work together and know each other because I've seen like collective energy is so much more powerful than individual.
Starting point is 00:25:44 So when we connect with others or we come together in a cause or have an idea of like how we want to help others and then we get other people on board, it's this like expansive, expansive light. So everybody's team of light is three parts, right? The thing we all share is the God energy part. I see God as this force of just love and connection that's inherent in our beings and guiding us every single day. And the real lesson there is love, like always default to love, right? And our true currency is forgiveness, gratitude, empathy, kindness. So if you're not exercising those things, you're not choosing your love path, right?
Starting point is 00:26:20 And you're distancing yourself a little bit. But the second and third part of everybody's teams of light are different. The second part is what I call spirit guides, what throughout time and history religions have called guardian angels. It's a concept of these advanced angelic beings who guide us. And we each have spirit guides. They're very unique to us. They're nobody we knew this lifetime. They're advanced angelic beings that our souls contracted with before we came here to earth school to kind of guide us and lead us and get us on our highest path. And I think some people have this really acute awareness, like they've done meditations or they've had dreams or visions and they're like,
Starting point is 00:26:52 I know what my guide looks like and this is his name. And other people are like, yeah, I don't even know. I just kind of feel, you know, sometimes thoughts are put in my mind or I have got feelings. Like that's how your team of light is going to communicate. And then the third part is anybody you love who's crossed, including pets and also including ancestors that are in your lineage who you might not have met. They are all loving you, guiding you, invested in your journey. It's really beautiful. So what about the people that are assholes? Seriously, like what about terrible people. Yeah. Right. Well, so let's put them in two different categories. Cause there's like the a-hole people who are just like not getting their lessons, making everybody's life
Starting point is 00:27:30 annoying, right. Being really stubborn and stuck. And then there are people who come and do like really dark, evil things. And like, usually the people who come and do really dark, terrible things, there's one thing they have in common and it's a misunderstanding of what true power is. Right. Because what the other side has taught me is what true power is. It's not about having power over somebody, manipulating people, making people bow down to you, being like, look what I have and you don't. I control this. It's not about control. It's not about any of that. True power is finding the gifts you came here with, right? We each have this light and gift within us, honoring them, sharing them with others to help elevate others to find their gifts
Starting point is 00:28:10 and share them. So there's this ripple effect, this domino effect of light in the world. And true power is learning that all ships rise with the tide. It's learning that what we're really here for is to be empathetic to one another, is what happens to one person happens to you. Because when you leave here and you're not in a physical body, you download everybody else's experiences instantly. We all do become one in this kind of greater consciousness. So you can understand and feel something that someone else went through their entire life.
Starting point is 00:28:40 So I think that we need to really understand the difference between those two forms of power So now let's back it up. What happens to the relatives who's just made your life really hard You know was very judgmental and now is on the other side That person does a life review and I can tell you from all these readings i've done They will show up immediately and ask for you to forgive them because that's part of their soul path There is always accountability on the other side when we do our life review It doesn't take place in real time, right? It's instant.
Starting point is 00:29:11 And in that instant, we relive everything, not just from our own perspective, but from the people we were interacting with and how we made them feel. We also understand how we affected others, what our energy on earth here did, the light it left, how it's still playing out in the world. It's beautiful. And so there's accountability that happens. So I'm not saying that when you cross the other side, you have to spend time with the relatives who was awful, right?
Starting point is 00:29:36 But I am saying that they're going to greet you and say that they're sorry. And then maybe they'll be in a different, you know, apartment level. You know, you might be in the penthouse and they might be on the third floor. But like someone like Donald Trump who comes in and just creates havoc, pain, hurt. Obviously that person is missing any sort of in touch, you know, like spiritual side. There's no spirituality there. But why do we have to deal with it? Okay. So let's talk about what you're really saying is like, what is the role of villains?
Starting point is 00:30:07 What is the role of evil? What is that? So let's talk about Disney movies. Let's roll it back a little. Okay. Did you see Disney movies when you were little, right? Unfortunately, I've seen a couple. Let's talk about like, what is it, like 101 Dalmatians. My kids love that movie. And there is such a villain in that movie. And it's Cruella de Vil. And she literally wants to skin these little puppies. I mean, you don't get darker than that in life, right?
Starting point is 00:30:30 I know. So when children are watching it, when I'm watching it, when my kids were young, like, what am I learning from the role of the villain? What do we derive from that? Well, it's a call to action in our hearts and in our minds and in our energy. It's about standing up for the voiceless. It's about finding that you do care and that you're willing to stand up for somebody else, not just focused on yourself.
Starting point is 00:30:56 It's about being able to identify when somebody has a false sense of power or is disengaged from humanity, right? And I think that observation teaches us about who we are on the inside. It basically makes us accountable to ourselves. Because if we were all good, then there would be no contrast. Listen, we're- And we wouldn't know what good it was. Yeah, and we're also on different levels here, right?
Starting point is 00:31:21 So some of us are teachers for each other. Some of us are healers for each other. And some of us are like raising our hands on the other side being like, I'll play the villain so that you can learn against me. You know, like Fred Rogers said his mother used to always, like Mr. Rogers, he said his mother used to always say when great tragedies happen, don't focus on the tragedy or what was done. Focus on the helpers that run in. And that's where the meaning of life is. That's why we're here, to love one another, to make life better for each other, to support one another. And I think that we maybe have to give a little grace at times because people get very lost in the cacophony of what this materialistic world is telling them is success or power or those things.
Starting point is 00:31:58 And it might take a little longer to unpack or unprocess. My download right now for all of us, because times are very dark right now and it can be really upsetting and discouraging and it can make people feel so powerless to help others, right? What my guides told me, it's so important right now for us to all tend our own gardens and do like small acts of kindness however we can. And they reminded me of the butterfly effect, which is like we can do one little thing in the world and it can have the most profound ripple effect. And if you look at history in reverse, you can actually trace back like major historical events to like one small decision somebody made somewhere, you know?
Starting point is 00:32:37 And so I think that if we're all just focused on our own light, like we don't focus on the darkness. Like don't stare into the abyss. We focus on whatever gifts we came here with. We focus on our light and we focus with sharing it with others. We can bring about powerful change and transformation in ways we can't imagine. Like my guides told me like smiling at somebody in a coffee shop on a Monday in New York could save somebody's life in Africa on a Friday. And that's mind boggling. I love that. That's the chain of light and goodness. Yes. And to so always choose that. And on that note, I just want to read a little quote. This is from L.R. Nost. This is a quote in Laura's book, do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break and all
Starting point is 00:33:16 things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you. Which says everything you just said. I mean, encapsulates it all, which is so true because it's a great reminder not to just die in despair and not to ever give up. Like we have a responsibility to shine brighter when the things get darker yeah you are the light that's the message we all have that light within and with that we're going to take a break and turn the lights back on and we will be right back with laura lynn jackson the jonas brothers are running it back we live the burning up tour and celebrate the biggest jonas brother hits that have defined
Starting point is 00:34:06 a generation one incredible celebration one unforgettable night see the jonas brothers live at rbc amphitheater september 28th get tickets now at ticketmaster.ca jonas brothers the burning up tour all over again when i was 14 years old i was kidnapped and held captive for nine months i survived and i've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them i'm elizabeth smart and these are the survivor files i just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying shut up don't say anything every week i'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable i knew if he woke up without a doubt he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming.
Starting point is 00:35:06 They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. They're stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to The Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:37:20 like if the universe allows for something like that to happen i am open to it i'm always going to accept you know danny mcbride fine yeah it's all this fragile masculinity exuding i could smell it walking down the hallway to be honest with you i was like is that weed nope it's fragile masculinity ben stiller no because a lot of times in out of context people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? Like, they're like, oh, what's a circle? Everyone's so dumb except for you.
Starting point is 00:37:51 And fake. Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Starting point is 00:38:15 and we're back with laura lynn jackson her new book is called guided make sure you order a copy stop actually go support your local bookstores and go get a hard copy please people go into your bookstores and buy a book it's called guided the secret path to an illuminated life and it's filled with so many hopeful stories about if you are heartbroken and you are feeling lost and you've lost someone meaningful it is filled with so much comfort about how to get in touch with your loved ones. And I know from experience, it's worked for me a million times. I did it most recently in Mallorca. I asked my mom to show me an orange out of place and she, and I went to, did I tell this story already? I asked my mom to show me an orange out of place and I had lost touch with my mom
Starting point is 00:39:00 through this whole house fiasco and the stress of it all. Plus my menopause, I found out I had no estrogen. A lot of things were happening, but I'm feeling much better. And I said, I'm so sorry for not being in touch I said to like my mom I'm like can you just show me an orange out of place if it's you know everything's okay and we're good and everything is starting the tides are changing for for all of this negativity and I went to this artist house to look at her like sculptures and she had a huge painting of fruit and she's a sculptor not a painter and she goes oh this is the only she's like this is the only time I've ever painted fruit and guess what all the fruit was there and then there was a huge orange out but the orange had a bite out of it that's amazing
Starting point is 00:39:41 and i was like oh that's my mom being like uh yeah that's my mom calling me at four o'clock in the morning going hi just checking in um so yeah so that was cute i love that that's so powerful yeah yeah so you gave me that gift about that orange so whenever i need an orange i get one but it can't be at a grocery store so you have to choose like everyone and this book really takes you through it like for every person it's different it's whatever you mean something to you and the person you've lost but there is such a comfort in knowing that the energy isn't gone and it's not just make-believe it's scientific it's scientific that energy doesn't die it transfers so it turns into something else and they want to tell us they're okay you know they want to
Starting point is 00:40:24 get in touch with us so you have to be open to the idea of it even my two sisters who were a little bit thought I was a little shady in the beginning with all of this now I've come around and they'll be like I saw mom today you know she's there was a hummingbird outside my window yeah well it is so funny too because there are a lot of stories in the book where you're talking about someone who asked for a sign and they get the sign they're like can't be that and then they get the same sign again and they're like well maybe it's and then there's a third time it's like I don't believe you now I need a dolphin jumping over a shark you're like what how greedy can you be Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Right, right. We're ready for callers. Yeah, I think so, right? Our first caller today is Kayla, and she says, Dear Chelsea, I love listening to the podcast. I appreciate the guaranteed laughter and blunt honesty every week. A couple of years ago, I listened to the Finding Your Highest Path episode with Laura Lynn Jackson, which led me to read her book, Signs. Ever since I was young, I've always felt a spiritual connection with the world. I'm now 31 years old.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I lost my husband when I was 24 and I lost my daughter right after I turned 28 Both of their deaths were very tragic after my husband passed I got signs from him all the time But I never really knew if they were actual signs or just coincidences that I chalked up to being signs Once I read laura's book, I knew I wasn't crazy anymore and the signs were real But I still find myself being skeptical especially because I don't feel like I get signs from my daughter like I do my husband There were so many things left unsaid between my husband and I since he died unexpectedly I feel the signs from him keep us connected, but it isn't always clear what he's trying
Starting point is 00:41:58 to convey. My daughter was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease three months after my husband passed. She lost her ability to talk right after he died, so there's a lot of things that went unsaid with her as well. So many things I wish I could talk to her about. I doubt myself as a mother fulfilling her needs. I worry she wasn't happy with the choices I made for her when she didn't have a voice. I find myself thinking maybe that's why I don't get signs from her.
Starting point is 00:42:21 my heart is broken without her and without the signs from her my husband and i had two kids together so it's been me and my son trying to navigate this crazy life together life is beginning to have color again i'm now engaged and have a healthy seven-week-old baby but there are questions still left unanswered i still feel like a reading from someone like laurel and jackson could change my life and possibly make the connection between me and my daughter stronger or if not from her how do i go about finding a psychic medium that's legit kayla and we've got kayla here with us okay Hi, Kayla. Hello.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Hi. You have Laura Lynn Jackson right here. I know. This is amazing. Oh, look at you. You're so beautiful and vibrant. And congratulations on your new baby. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Okay. Can I jump in? Yes. All right. So first of all, it's so lovely to meet you. I'm so sorry for your physical losses of your husband and your daughter. I have so many things that I was getting as downloads as you were reading it. The first thing I want to say is you're carrying a lot of guilt that doesn't belong to you at all.
Starting point is 00:43:28 So I want to tell you what I was feeling as I was listening to your words was that you were the most incredible, loving presence for your daughter while she was here on earth. I also want to tell you she chose you to be her mom, and she knew and you knew on a soul level before you agreed to this that she would not be here long. But her lesson was one of love. And this is really important for you to hear because for you to be still here on earth thinking that in any way you may have failed her is completely untrue. You taught her the exact lesson her soul needed to feel that unconditional love. And every choice you made for her care was made in love. And that is always the highest path and the right choice. So I think what's going on is, you know, this frontal lobe of our brain is where 98% of
Starting point is 00:44:22 our brainwave activity takes place during our daily activities. And it's very chattery and logical-based. And it's also very mean. And it'll tell us lies about the narrative of our lives and what we've done. And I think yours has been telling you, it's been really nitpicking and saying, you didn't do this right, you didn't do that right, rather than focusing on what a force of love you were and are for her. Because relationships do not end with bodily death. They actually get stronger. And I also have this sense, and this might sound a little odd, but I almost feel like your husband and she had this sort of soul contract that he would arrive there before she did and then greet her.
Starting point is 00:44:59 And I think you've had that moment where that occurred to you like almost in a spiritual sense And then maybe you just dismissed it or pushed it away But I think me saying that to you you already know that The other thing I want to say is, you know, I am never and a psychic medium is never your loved one's first choice They'll come to us and through us because of their love for you, but it's never what they want They want to talk directly to you every single day and get through to you every day not like at a scheduled appointment that's taken this long and for this short amount of time. You know, think of it like if you were to go to lunch with your husband and your daughter,
Starting point is 00:45:33 right? And you're sitting at a table and then I show up and I'm like, hey guys, I'm here and you can't talk to each other. You'd have to talk to me and I'll pass along the messages. That's what it's like. So for you to just open your mind and heart and recognize that you're already in direct communication with them, I think is everything. The tools are within you. You don't need anybody else to do this. That's where I think it's really important to get over two major obstacles when it comes to feeling our loved ones on the other side with us and getting their guidance and their inspiration and getting the downloads from them and seeing their presence in our lives.
Starting point is 00:46:09 And the two obstacles are fear and doubt. So fear is the idea of like, first of all, I'm afraid I might not be able to do this or I'm afraid these abilities might not exist because the materialistic paradigm we're raised in. If you can't see it, touch it, taste it, smell it, it's not real, right? But the truth is there's unseen energy all around us and we are energy and energy and matter, even Einstein said, are interchangeable. So the truth is unseen energy and energy in general is the only truth of our existence. We're not really solid beings. The chairs we're sitting on are not solid. We're just fast vibrating atoms made of light that appear solid. So when you understand that, I think it's
Starting point is 00:46:42 easier to conquer the fear of like, this can't exist because it does. And then the doubt is the next thing, right? The doubt is when I get a sign or when I think I feel my loved one around me or when I've had a dream visitation or when I have a knowing or when a thought comes to me and I feel like it's from my daughter or my husband on the other side, how do I trust in it? Because you are locked in this frontal lobe, which is based in logic, so it's always going to try and reject the spiritual experience and tell you it's a coincidence. It's not. It's a sign. If you have that moment where you're like, I think this was a sign or I think this was a communication from the other side. It is. And you don't need validation from anybody for that. My sense is
Starting point is 00:47:25 that I feel your husband and daughter around you so much. And I even feel them celebrating so beautifully this new path of life that you're on and that you were guided into this next experience that you're having in this most beautiful way. They want you healed. They want you whole. They want you engaged in life. They want you celebrating the force of love that you are in this world. You know, I think too, and this is going to sound a little funny, but somebody is going to be giving you flowers soon, like flowers, and it's really from them. And it hasn't happened yet, so wait and see. But when you get them, I think there might even be like more meaning in whatever the card says or whatever types of flowers these are. You're going to have to see, but you're going to
Starting point is 00:48:06 understand how beloved and guided you are. They want you living the best version of your life. And what your husband on the other side is telling me is you're teetering on trusting that and diving into it. I feel like this phone call and this letter is that final moment where it's almost like releasing the helium balloon of the guilt or the grief or everything you've been holding onto into the air and knowing that that's what they want for you and the most beautiful path ahead. okay that is very very refreshing to hear definitely the guilt is part of you know what's been a major thing of what I'm feeling uh so it's really refreshing to hear you say that the fact that you know you hit it on the head with him being there before she was as soon as she got diagnosed I felt like that was why that was kind of the reason why he passed away he was meant to be there for her, which made me feel better when her time came. Like her dad was there for her. I'm sorry to interrupt. They're just telling me more while you're talking. I want to
Starting point is 00:49:16 bring up two things around your daughter too, but like you still having her stuffed animal. And also have you been reading a book to your son? Did somebody just give you a book for your baby? Like I'm seeing a children's book. This is what I'm asking. I did have someone message me and ask if I had a book this morning. They messaged me and said, do you have this book? Okay. Do you have that book. I'm not yet. Okay. When you get that book that they're going to send you, I want you to go to the last two pages of it. And I don't know what book this is or what it's going to say, but your daughter's telling me there is a message from her to you in it. And I want you to read it. Okay. And it will all make sense. Okay. Awesome. And I want to just say something from listening
Starting point is 00:49:55 to this, like look at how many people got to get your love in this lifetime. Yeah. If you look at That, you got all of this love that you got to share around and it was all predestined and your daughter knew that she was going to be there for a short time and she chose you and now you have another son and in addition to your first son, like, and you have a new husband. Like, this is, you have a lot of love to give and that's what you're here to do. Yeah, that's definitely a better way of looking at it. That makes me feel a lot better.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Thank you for that. I need to say one more thing because as you're saying this too, they love what you just said, first of all, but they also said, please know that moving forward is not leaving us behind. We come with you. We're part of it all. Thank you so much. That's it really, like I said in my message, I knew that being able to just have that opening, that communication, it puts me at ease. Yeah, and you have that within yourself. And I also feel like sometimes you have this, you feel them around. You just feel them around, especially at night when you're going to sleep. They are right there with you. It's when you can kind of tune in the most to them.
Starting point is 00:51:08 I mean, they're with you all the time, but that's when you feel them a lot, and they love that. Thank you. And way to keep it together during this phone call, Kayla, because I'm a mess over here. You're a force of light and goodness and love. We're sending you lots and lots of love. Thank you for calling in, Kayla. Okay. Yes. Thank you so much. You guys have a great day. You too.
Starting point is 00:51:29 You too. Laura, how do you not just like cry all of the time? You know, it's such an excellent question, right? Especially when it comes to children on the other side. So for me, the experience, it's so hard to describe, but it's all love. I feel no sense of loss because I know the person's not physically here and I know there's been a physical loss, but they're so alive and vibrant. It's never a question for me. It's the most beautiful truth. And I can feel like their personality, their energy, their love that comes through me to the person here.
Starting point is 00:51:59 So I can't be sad when I'm feeling so much love. That's a nice way to look at it and think about it. Yeah, because we always think of loss, loss, loss, grief, and like instead of grief is love. Yeah. And, you know, just to reiterate what you've said, like you don't need a medium. You can have these conversations. But I will also say my sister, she, several years ago, actually after the call we had with you, she went and found someone else from the Forever Family Foundation where everybody's been vetted and they have all, you know, really wonderful people working with them. And she actually had a reading with one of them.
Starting point is 00:52:35 And it was, it was one of those things we were talking about before Chelsea got here of like, it's not, it wasn't necessarily about her, but it was about all these people around her. And she had messages for like so many people in her life. It was very interesting. That's beautiful. Yeah. There are a few things for her, but yeah. Yeah. I don't want to ever discredit a mediumship session. I know how sacred it is for me when I do it. It's just so beautiful to be part of. I just want everybody to know they don't need it. Right.
Starting point is 00:52:59 You don't need it. You can talk to somebody or something. I'm like the anti-business model. Nobody needs me. You got this. Well, our next caller is Jessica, and she says, Dear Chelsea, My mom passed away last year from stage four breast cancer. We put each other through a lot of trauma over my lifetime. My daughter and I lived with her for five-ish years, most of my kid's life, and we weren't in a good place when she died.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Additionally, I had a serious fight with my younger sister after our mom passed away. She and I haven't spoken since December, I think, because of things she said to me, so I'm having some tough feelings around that. My daughter was initially acting out after my mom died, and while that's lessened, she misses grandma a lot, obviously. I have a lot of complicated feelings about my mom, and it's hard to know how to help her. I don't have a desire to talk about my mom, and when she has big emotions about grandma, I freeze up and don't know how to react. I'm usually really good about helping her through big emotions, but anything to do with my mom is incredibly difficult for me.
Starting point is 00:53:56 All in all, I can't manage the conflicting feelings of relief and guilt I've been dealing with the last year. I know Chelsea has a lot of advice on grief and caring for family. I feel like I should have been more gracious with my mom and sister, and if I stop to think about it, it tears me up. I have been holding off on submitting because it means I have to talk about it, but I feel like the universe is telling me to get over it and try. Thanks so much, Jessica. Hi, Jessica. Hi. How are you? We're good. And you're stuck. You have a blockage. Yeah. Laura's going to help you. Is it my internet or my actual blockage? No. You have a blockage with your- My soul blockage or my internet?
Starting point is 00:54:36 You have a soul blockage. We're going to unblock you. Well, first, I want to compliment you because by writing in, that means you're ready to heal. And what I know about our time here on earth is that the highest path we can find is forgiveness, empathy, and healing. And I truly feel that your mom kind of nudged you to write in and do this because she's ready to apologize and to thank you. I think when she was here, this is how i'm getting it. She wasn't good at that stuff She was good at demanding stuff and criticizing and and you know expecting it's almost like a sense of entitlement And I will tell you when she crossed and did her life review
Starting point is 00:55:15 It was a it was a lot to take in for her But I will tell you I don't have the sense that when she was here and this is how she's giving it to me It's like she didn't know better. She didn't do it maliciously or on purpose. She was just unevolved and that the fact that she wasn't involved led her to be cruel at times. She wants you to know she sees you fully now, and she celebrates you. She's asking for your forgiveness, and she says you don't have to give it right now in front of everybody, but she's asking for it. She understands that she should have been the mother,
Starting point is 00:55:54 and she should have shown up for you emotionally, and that instead she put you in that role. She also wants me to tell you she's learning from you so much about what it means to be a mother by watching how you mother. She's kind of funny when it comes to the thing with your sister, because she's like, ah, you're both wrong. It's almost like, you know, to not get too caught up in that, it'll work itself out. There's a lot of valid feelings you have. And I think that when we're here on earth the way you and your sister are right now, you can kind of get stuck a little bit and it can be hard to see the bigger picture, to see what's really going on. And I have a sense like in time that's going to work itself out. But she is asking you to, this is the way I would like
Starting point is 00:56:39 to phrase it, default to love. And she says that's actually how you are in life. You always default to love. You try and act tough on the outside, but you always default to love and you do kind things. Do animals tend to really like you, by the way? Like do animals come up to you or? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. In fact, we live with my dad now and one of their dogs like hates me and I cannot accept it. Yeah. You know, it's so funny because I think too, I want to give you a little, you know, puzzle piece here. Animals see spirit. Okay. And I think your mom's literally been like walking by you this whole time. And I don't think it's you that the dog's reacting to. I think the dog's like, wait a minute, what is going on here?
Starting point is 00:57:24 So that could be part of it. But I feel like your light is very bright and other people see it, even though you try to hide it. And I think you've had to guard it, especially in the past with your relationship with your mom, because she didn't honor it in the right ways. And what was making you vulnerable and beautiful almost became a perceived weakness because she wouldn't honor it. And she would kind of take advantage at times, not necessarily on purpose, but just because of how she was. She is thanking you for all you did for her and the ways you cared for her, especially at the end, in spite of how she acted. And did we lose her? We might have lost her. I don't want to say anything to interrupt the flow of energy,
Starting point is 00:58:04 but I also feel something. I can feel what you're talking about. I can feel her mom's energy. Yes. Okay. You need to talk about this. Well, I mean, everything you're saying... Oh, hey, we had you, Jessica. I'm so sorry. It's okay. I have to move to a different place. I have not had an issue with my video here. So that's what spirit does.
Starting point is 00:58:26 That's your mother. But Chelsea, Chelsea, share what you just said. When you were coming in and out, Jessica, what Laura is saying, right before she said everything, I could just feel your mother swoop in, her energy swooping in, saying, I'm here to talk to you now. I have my opportunity. And I'm going to say everything that I want to say to you. Like I could feel her energy and it was strong. Yeah, she is strong. And I want to tell you what I was getting to that she said to validate all this for you so that you know this really is her and she's apologizing, right?
Starting point is 00:59:03 She's going to send you two signs and these sound a little like unrelated, but this is how I'm getting it. She showed me a blue butterfly and a chicken. I don't know how those are going to come to you, but when you see them, and I don't think they have any meaning to you right now. Let me be clear. They just sound wacky. but when you get them, you're going to know this is her. I feel like she's got a little sense of humor about it too. So you'll have to see how that plays out in your life, but please know to open your mind and heart to be looking for those signs. And she said in the brief time that we got
Starting point is 00:59:30 disconnected, you've already forgiven her. Okay. Have you? No. I mean, maybe not. Not up here. Not in your head. I'm not talking about your head. I'm talking about your heart and soul, okay? Your head's going to take a while to catch up with it, like the monkey mind that chatters, like the logical part. You're going to take a while to unpack that. But what I know just happened because she told me is that healing just took place. So in your heart, in that soul energy, you've forgiven her, even though logically, now you're going to work it out for a while. Laura, can you talk a little bit about how sometimes our relationships with people of past can improve even though they're not here with us? Oh, absolutely. Because I think when
Starting point is 01:00:13 people who were stuck in beliefs or limited or unevolved while they were here cross and do a life review and take accountability, it changes our relationships dramatically. We now can have these stronger and beautiful relationships with people we love, and they can show up for us in ways that they couldn't when they were here. And they do, and they will. Look at that. See? Is this the one that doesn't like you? I don't love you. Oh, dog just came up to her. Look at that. That's Reaver.
Starting point is 01:00:43 Oh, that's sweet, though. That was nice timing. Well, you couldn't see the men pin has been at my hand licking me this whole time since I've been out here. So, yeah. Is that the one that was being cranky before? No. So, she came out and looked at me and ran back inside. Well, I would use this as your door opening to heal the relationship with your mother. This is the first step in your healing process. And I think the stuff with your sister will work out. I see like a two-month period and then like this real beautiful doorway for forgiveness.
Starting point is 01:01:20 And I don't feel like it's necessarily going to get worked out completely in terms of like my version, your version, but just like, okay, it's almost like we have to agree to disagree, but what we know is there is this underground river of love. And I love you, even if we don't see eye to eye. I have actually texted her a couple of times and she did. my birthday was about a week ago and she did text me on my birthday which was big because it's been almost a year that's beautiful yeah and then I was invited by her while I was waiting for you guys to a memorial thing for my mom on Facebook oh that's so beautiful I feel like writing in
Starting point is 01:02:01 and doing this letter opened the door for all of that right it was your energy that opened that well yeah and i i think because my call originally was supposed to be um two days before after my mom the first anniversary of my mom passing and it didn't work out and i think maybe like you were saying i just wasn't ready for that at that time actually and everything you said up top was just like everything i wish would have said yeah well she is saying it now she just didn't have the ability to say it then because she didn't see it then right right no yeah no that's yeah but she loves you so much oh I feel that's I guess of course part of what makes it so hard yeah and I had kind of forgiven her a lot of the stuff from when I was a kid
Starting point is 01:02:52 before she passed because especially after being a mom I understand And, like, you are just doing your best. And she didn't have the tools that I have now. So she didn't really know any differently. But then just the last few years where she passed were so bad. So it is really comforting to know that I will get to a place where I can really forgive her soon. Yeah, you will. You're going to get there.
Starting point is 01:03:25 You're on your way. We're all witnessing it. yeah thank you for sharing this she also says write about it that's gonna help and then she also said she's gonna give you a win somehow like i feel like a scratch off lottery ticket you're gonna win and it might be funny because it might only be ten dollars but like she's like that's the best i can do right now but just be ready for that too i feel like she's gonna try and pay you back energetically in the most beautiful ways so just be open to some magical beautiful things happening to you and for you? Oh, I could sure use a win. Yeah. You're going to get a win.
Starting point is 01:03:58 The tide is changing. You're going to get a win. And it makes sense that she would want me to write about it. She journaled every single day. There you go. As long as I can remember. Oh, I love it. She wants me to journal. Get ready. You know, I think sometimes when we write too, we open the doorway to a conversation with the other side. And you might find as you write, you might feel her presence more strongly and you might like hear thoughts come to you that are really from her like asking for more forgiveness or telling you how much she loves you i think that she wants to be present for that healing journey and help you heal boy thank you well thank you for calling thank you for calling in we are so happy that you did i am too this was
Starting point is 01:04:43 more cathartic than I could have imagined. I'm so glad. Sending you so much love. Follow up with us when you see your blue butterfly and your chicken, okay? Yes, yes. Seriously, follow up with us. And when you win the $10 on the scratch-off thing. Maybe there'll be more.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Watch, it'll be $60,000. You're like, what? Come on, Mom. Come on, it's not as bad as that. Right? Awesome. Thanks, Jessica. Love it. Thanks, Jessica. Thank you. Thank you all.
Starting point is 01:05:12 that was so moving so moving yeah do we have energy in time for one more what do you okay should we take a break and come back and we'll do one more take a quick break my SUV is worth

I'm Elizabeth Smart and these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying shut up don't say anything. Every week I'm with survivors who lived through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up without a doubt he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. They're stories about

I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B.
Starting point is 01:08:11 I'm Julie Pinheiro and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
Starting point is 01:08:46 So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back with Laura Lillian Jackson. And we're going to do one more caller because we can't let you leave without spreading more of this. Exactly. It's so exciting. Yes.
Starting point is 01:09:09 And actually, this caller is two callers. So we should have Sarah and Pat on the phone. Oh, together. Yeah. So this is a little bit of couples counseling with Chelsea. But so Sarah and Pat say, Dear Chelsea, My husband, Pat, is the youngest of four brothers, or so we thought, up until about five years ago. After the birth of our second son, my husband's whole family came to visit.
Starting point is 01:09:31 During that trip, my mother-in-law revealed that she had become pregnant at the age of 15. She was sent to a Catholic home for unwed mothers, and her son was adopted after birth. She had apparently never planned on sharing this news until my husband bought an ancestry DNA test. Long story short, it was not an open adoption, and she has not had much contact with her first child. My husband and his brothers all took this news in their own way. Some grieved, some were angry, but my husband, Pat, has been determined to find his now oldest brother, but he's not had much luck. The person we believe could be his brother does not seem to want to be contacted and
Starting point is 01:10:06 has no interest in meeting Pat, his brothers, or his mom. Pat can't seem to let this go and feels like he needs closure, which I do understand. What would you do? Family is very important to us both, and we know it is to you as well, Chelsea. Would you let this go and hope that one day his brother will change his mind? Or do we continue our search and try to get creative and exhaust all resources? I value your opinion, and I'm hoping we can find peace, whatever the outcome may be. Sarah and Pat.
Starting point is 01:10:31 I've got their hair with us. Hi, guys. Hello. Hi. Hi. This is our special guest, Laura Lynn Jackson. Hi. Hi there.
Starting point is 01:10:40 It's nice to meet you all. Thank you for having us. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Okay, Laura, what do you think right off the bat about this? So I just want to say, I think always being guided by love is the highest path to take. And I think that is your impetus. That is your drive.
Starting point is 01:10:56 That is what is making you want so badly to meet this brother, is this love you already have in your heart, having not even met him yet. That said, I do think that there are free will choices here on earth really are very powerful. And I think possibly the highest path to take would be to set the intention with the universe, with the powers that be, that your heart would love to connect with your brother, and then surrender it. Because there's a magic that goes on behind the scenes in unseen energy streams in ways that we can't fathom, but we need to trust in. I would say that it might be a process for the brother who maybe has orchestrated his life a certain way and guarded his heart a certain way, that he may know the door is
Starting point is 01:11:52 there and not be ready to open it today. But if you just give some time and space, out of the blue, a year and two months from now, you might get a phone call, you might get an email, you might get a letter. And what a beautiful moment that would be. So I think set your intention, leave that door open, and know you're coming from the most pure place, but also understand that his free will might need a little time to make a decision to be that vulnerable, because that's really what I see this is about for him, is vulnerability, you know?
Starting point is 01:12:25 And I think what your knowledge, your heart is telling you is like, yes, there's a risk here, but it's going to be so rewarding and so loving when we meet. And his energy is saying, I don't know that I'm ready to take that risk. I'm still guarded, or I'm not sure I want to meet this family that I'm not part of or haven't been part of yet. But I think it's so beautiful, the intention you're setting. And I think it's so beautiful how, as a couple, you are supporting each other in that. And there's so much love between you and so much kindness and genuine rooting for the
Starting point is 01:12:59 other person to be healed and be whole and, you know, experience love in all the dimensions. Yeah. Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. That was really sweet. Chelsea, what do you think? I agree with everything that Laura Lynn Jackson said. Ditto, ditto, ditto. Because I think it's so important to put out that vibe, to put out the intention, to always lead with love every time you think about him, to let him know, like, just think about communicating with someone telepathically, Like, choose to believe that that's true. And like, I love you and I'm ready whenever you are.
Starting point is 01:13:33 And as long as that message is out there, I do think that you will hear from him at some point during your life. And you can also focus on the excitement and the happiness that you'll feel when and if he does reach out. Like, focusing on those emotions, I think, can help bring them to fruition. This is, you know, our timelines are so different. Like, my dad was in sort of a similar situation as your brother. he found out that the person he thought was his dad was not his biological father and he found
Starting point is 01:14:00 this out when he was in his 20s my parents were already married and the moment my dad had the realization he didn't even tell my mom for a full year because he just needed to digest it and sort of sit with it and then it wasn't for several more years until he met his whole family and then he walks into this family reunion and he's like oh I thought it was just like a special individual snowflake, but like, I look exactly like that person, but with a different hair color and I hold my coffee mug the same as this person. And so, you know, he might just be on a little bit of a different timeline than you, but if you focus on those like feelings of excitement and happiness, I think that's what he'll be feeling from you. Yeah. I love that. And that's definitely
Starting point is 01:14:40 where we're coming from. So keep putting it out there. I love that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're welcome. Thank you guys for calling in today. This was really great.
