is the epic return of mayor of Kingstown.
Warden? You know who I am.
Starring Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner.
I have a sway in these walls.
Emmy award winner Edie Falco.
You're an ex-con who ran this place for years.
And now, now you can't do that.
And BAFTA award winner Lenny James.
You're about to have a plague of outsiders descend on your town.
Let me tell you this. It's got to be consequences.
Mayor of Kingstown, new season now streaming on Paramount Plus.
Well, it's been too long again, isn't it?
It feels like it's been ages, but it hasn't, Natalie, but yeah.
Nearly a month, I think.
Yeah, we are doing them literally.
Monthly.
Monthly apart, but that's good.
It is nice.
Lots to talk about it.
Save the best till last, you know what I mean?
You've got to space you out.
Cheers.
I'm not sure about that, guys, but I'll take it.
Even all right?
Amazing, yeah.
Yeah.
As usual, running around like a headless chicken.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
Yeah.
How was the holes?
It was really nice
If I were to do it again
A North Wales trip
For railways
Isn't particularly up the children's streets
No
But it was half term
And I can't help it
I thought why do I want to
I can't go away
Half term without them
Of course
And I know that Mark would want them
There
And it was a special birthday
So making memories
Suck it up
Yeah
But actually
they were both really good
there was a bit of bickering in the car
but it was long
that's five and a half
nearly you know it's a long
260 miles
it's about over just five hours
and we weren't leaving like we do
for Cornwall
which is 4 a.m and they're sleeping
for most of it
so it was a lot of the day
but the beaches are
I have to say
they might top Cornwall
Cornwall as a place is in my heart
and you're saying that
In these weather conditions.
And this morning, I promise you, then we got up, and it was 9 o'clock this morning, the sun was shining, and it was just silence.
And we looked out and there was some rowers on a little boat, and you could hear every splash of water and conversation.
Oh, wow.
And it was just stunning, beautiful.
But lovely, isn't it, to experience different parts of the country.
It really is, because when we drove in, you're just, you're just, you're just, you.
You're on mountains.
You're going up and up and up in these mountains.
It reminds me a little bit of an Italian landscape.
Because you've got these towns surrounded by mountains.
I highly recommend it.
Oh, really?
But maybe an east.
Minus the steam engines.
Well, I have to say that I don't, I love, I like sitting on the railway and chilling,
but I get the girls can be bored of that.
For me, to go away and do nothing, not have to think about anything for three days.
not look at my phone really a little bit again a nice detox it just was so nice and also
jeans leggings jumpers no makeup no makeup I barely brush my hair because you're just
it doesn't matter and I think you need that I do sometimes that's I've said this before going
away on holiday the thought of getting ready every night going up to dinner every night that
becomes a chore in itself yeah sometimes you just want that break where it doesn't matter what you
look like. Hopefully no one's, you're not going to see anyone you know. And if they do,
they might not recognise you. I mean, I had lots of people recognise me and I just said, I'm sorry about
that. I'm on holiday. I'm having a, I'm having a relax. I'm like, oh, you look fine. I was
like, I definitely don't look fine. Well, even Ro Ro and I got recognised yet. Was it yesterday?
Where are we? No, Friday. Really? Yeah, we took the kids to, you know, we went away for a couple
of days, took the kids to
Poulton's. And they were doing
a Halloween theme, which was incredible, I must
say, despite the torrential
rain. And yeah, coming out the Luz,
Eve, her name was, I'll give you a little
share, Eve, bless her, because she made
a point of stopping us and saying, oh, you're
the pod lady. Oh, that's so nice. I mean, how
she realised, I do not know, because we were literally,
you could barely see, just our eyes
were visible, because we were,
it was just the weather.
Which is a shame, because we
stayed in the hotel on the Thursday, kids
went swimming.
It was really brilliant thing to do.
It was so nice.
I had a bit of quality time with Dominic
because it was just Dominic Maria
and three of the kids.
Yeah, yeah.
So that was really nice.
And then the Friday,
the aim was to be a Lego land
at reasonable time.
But the rain.
Pepper Pigwold, do you mean?
Pepper Pigwell, sorry, Lego,
no, no, no, that was when we went.
Yeah, we had a laugh.
It was funny.
What was it like being recognised?
How did you find it being recognised?
Strange.
I always ask the same question.
I always go,
you know we'd recognize you from social media yeah weird strange but no it's lovely that
people introduce aren't embarrassed to sort of voice it or speak to us or and I always make a point
of asking who they are and what you know if they're inevitably asked if she was coming to the live
shows but unfortunately you can't make it so no it's lovely it's weird I think it's lovely that
someone feels the urge to say I listen and I enjoy it and no it's lovely make sell what we're doing so we
Absolutely.
Because, you know, obviously it's about you and we're here to support you.
Of course, but it is rewarding to know that.
Yeah, they're interested.
But I've got a cracking story to tell you about, oh, this is funny.
So for those of you that have been to Pepper Pig World, I'm sure you've seen, there's a stand.
Natalie, you must have seen it where they have, like these buckets and you basically have to throw.
Imagine making balls out of rubber bands, big balls out of rubber bands, yeah?
So that's what the texture of them are.
And the idea is you have to throw two consecutive balls and let them land in this bucket.
Sounds easy, guys.
No.
Not so easy.
Clearly there's a technique to this.
So anyway, I don't want to long this story out because I know I do talk a lot.
Perfect for me.
But basically the girls, Amelia and Ruby, who are four years old, have finally seen baby Evie.
Yes.
So they were desperate to see.
The baby.
And they've got stuffed toys, the size of you and me,
that you can win by getting two consecutive balls in these buckets.
So Dominic says, I've got to get Amelia one.
It is pouring with rain.
So we're standing, there's no one at the stand but us.
He's gone, I'll take, so you could, it was £3 for two, one go,
which comprise of two balls, or £4 for four goes, which comprises of eight balls.
So Dominic said, I'll take the four knowing it's going to take in many attempts.
Anyway, long story short, on his third go, he only blimming goes and wins an Evie.
And Amelia, so you know what's coming, don't you?
Oh dear.
Amelia is so happy, and Ruby is having a full-on convulsion.
So Dominic said, well, I've got one more go.
Go on, Maria.
You try and win it for her.
So Maria chucks the balls in, of course, they just come bouncing back out.
It's not easy.
So Dominic said, it's all right, boobs.
Uncle Dom will have another go for you.
I'll have another tenors' worth.
The woman behind the counter goes,
no, you can't do it again.
Sorry?
No, you can't have a second go.
Because you've won one now.
Her mum will have to do it.
And Maria's going, well, I can't do it.
I've had a go, and I'm useless.
So we walked away from there, and I've looked at Dominic.
I said, just give me the bear, go back, the stuff toy, go back,
and just say, you want to have another go.
He's gone back.
He's come back, empty-handed.
He said, no, I'm not allowed.
Shut up.
No, honestly.
I mean, you kind of got to know your audience a bit.
The baby's crying.
It's pouring with Roe.
But who cares?
There's no one else there.
But who cares?
So I've gone over.
And he's willing to, he wants to give her more money.
Oh, no, no.
He's willing to pay for it.
So me and Maria have gone over.
I went, this is ridiculous.
So we've gone over.
And Natalie, you've got to picture the scene.
No, it's a torrential.
We just want to get into it, onto a ride or go somewhere where it's a bit dry.
Anyway, we've gone over.
Maria's gone, I can't do it.
And I'm a single, she's going, I'm a single,
She's going, I'm a single mom.
And her, you know, her dad's not here to do it for her.
And she's going, oh, no, sorry.
But that's the rules.
And we can't, you know, we can't break the rules because we'll get in trouble.
But who's going to know?
Who's going to care?
I went, oh, well, so I've got a protective nan.
I've gone, oh, well, I'm just going to have to do it, aren't I?
And I thought, oh, my God.
How am I going to do this?
I've got no chance in hell.
No, but you're good.
You're good at the stuff.
This is really hard, Natalie.
Yeah.
So the girl's gone, oh, you'll be fine.
she went how many do you want one go or four goes i went no i'm going to need at least 12
goes i think but i'll take four to start with so anyway i've played for the four balls
natalie i've thrown the first ball in it's gone in the bucket isn't it oh no no no
no before we've done this she's gone um you've got to be facing the bucket you can't stand to
the side of it because i just lean into the side because this woman's lucky i'm in it
no it's funny then she's gone and if you throw the ball and your hand passes the red line
that's not okay and i'm just looking at and i went darling if i'm just looking at and i went darling if
I've got to jump over this counter
and manually put two balls in
that's what I will be doing
because I thought
I can't walk away with that
I offered to buy one
I couldn't do that either
I was just about to say that
No I've done all that
Throw in the first ball
That only stays in the blimming bucket
I thought oh this is good
Throw the second it pops out
So you've got to get two consecutive
Oh yeah yeah yeah
It's not eight balls
And you just got to get two in
Second go
First ball goes in
Second ball comes out
Third go
First ball jumps out
Some of
The second goes
irrelevant.
Yeah. Last go.
Oh, God, God help me.
I've thrown one in, stayed in.
Through the second one in, it's only stayed in.
Yes, get in.
No, you would have, our reaction,
everyone's reaction was like you.
It was like I'd scored the winning
goal for the World Cup.
For the World Cup final.
It was, I mean, guys, it's not so funny now,
but at the time, we were...
What did the lady say?
Was she pleased?
I don't know.
She said, did she not pleased?
Told you, you'd smash it.
I looked at. Ruby was like, I went, Ruby, have you got the coolest nunner in the world?
She was like, just hugging me. She was just so happy. Oh, Natalie, it was such a funny 10 minutes.
The whole, again, kind of just got, but sometimes you just got to bend the rules a little bit.
I don't think anyone would mind. Would they? No. But no, we weren't walking away with baby Evie unless we were winning it fair and square.
Well, you did it.
So Dominic, then, had to get these two stuffed toys that are as big as may.
Because they're getting saturated.
He goes, I'm just going to run these to the car because, yeah, I said Dom,
because we've only just got here.
We're not walking around with those all day.
Run to the car.
We're queuing up for a right.
Well, I can't say queuing up because there were no cues, thankfully.
That was the one good thing about the rain.
Next thing, my phone goes, we've gone in two cars.
I've gone with Maria.
He's driven up with Amelia.
He's got there 10 minutes before us because we got a bit lost.
rings me up
mom
35 years guys
I think
how was Dominic
35 in November
yeah
at the end of this month
hi mum
I said alright
all right
yeah he said
I don't really know
why I'm ringing you
so I'm not sure
you're gonna be able to help me
I said
what's so what have you done
I said
do you know where I park my car
I don't know
I didn't go with him
I don't know where he's fine
has you not got to find my car
That's what Elia said when I told her the story.
I don't know.
It was funny.
We did have a laugh.
Good.
It was lovely to spend some time with Dom as well
because it just doesn't happen.
No, it's lovely.
It was lovely.
It's really lovely to do stuff like this.
And you've got two large baby Evies?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Cracking.
Got a lovely photo for you to put up.
Oh, good.
Excellent.
Yeah, no, so good.
So you've had an, it was a nice experience.
Lovely.
Yeah.
Really lovely.
I don't know where this week's gone, as you know, Dave's away.
So I thought I'd have so much time to do stuff.
Babe, we are, because I looked at the diary.
No, don't say it.
For everyone out there, I know I do this all the time and I don't have to,
and it's really confusing, because you might be listening next February to this,
so I'm sorry.
But we're filming on a Sunday evening.
This is going out on Thursday.
So when this comes out, we would have done our first live show on Tuesday evening.
and we will be heading to Luton today.
And I'd like to play a little messaging.
How you doing?
It's Mattie from London.
Nothing for the pod.
It's just a big message just to say me and Anita.
Anita, who you met at the hotel for the EastEnders live thing.
We're so excited for Luton.
It's a bit out of our way, but Anita's coming down from Norfolk.
and yeah and I'm heading up so yeah we're really really looking forward to it can't wait
I think I've said to you before your pod is the only pod I listen to so yeah I'm really really
looking forward to it I know it's not going to be the full show but yeah really excited and
can't wait to see you all anyway I know you've got you've done Islington having you already
and you've got a show before so I'm wishing you all the luck and yeah we'll see you in
we'll see you in Luton exciting
Well, we'll see you tonight, Matty and Anita.
I met Mattie and Anita when we were filming the live EastEnders.
We were staying in a hotel near work and they were in there.
So we were coming back from rehearsals and they're big EastEnders fans as well.
But they were really excited about the live and then obviously they watched it in the hotel that night.
And then we came back after and I had a drink with them.
You know what I'm like, talk to everybody.
But they're lovely.
I'm Matty Luton's a bit out of my way as well, to be fair.
We don't live in Norfolk, so that is a very lovely thing.
No, it's very commendable of them to make that journey.
And also, when you say it's not sort of the whole show,
what I would say about the work in progress is we're giving it our all,
wherever we are.
Obviously, the Clapham on the seventh is the Crimbo one,
so there's just a bit more sparkle and a bit more pizzazz,
but they're all going to be just as special to us.
You know, we're not sort of shoving them off because they're working progressies.
No, we're going to do our best to make it, yeah, a nice evening for everyone that's making the effort to attend because it is, you know, it's week.
They're weeknights as well, you know, so it's amazing that you've sold out and...
Another bit of news for you that I don't think you've thought about, gosh, Thursday night, Luton, tonight, Traitor's Final.
Oh, wow.
So what we're going to have to do
Is not talk to anybody?
No one.
Oh, no.
So anybody that's coming to Luton,
I'm going to say this as well on the night
And I'm really being deadly serious.
Please, there are no spoilers.
Please.
Maybe we'll get there.
There'll be five people in the audience
where everyone's at home.
It's a possibility.
But hopefully we'll all be in the same pot.
What time's it on?
No.
No, we're going to absolutely miss it, but let's all, you've got to get in the car, no social media, turn phones off until we get in.
But it's quite exciting.
It's very exciting.
Oh, of course we're going to have to watch that.
So we have to watch it as soon as we get home.
Brilliant, isn't it?
It's brilliant, isn't it?
I love the way they dress Claudia.
It's great, isn't it?
I know her stylist.
Oh, do?
They've just got it so right for her.
She's really, really lovely woman.
Is she?
Yeah.
She's really.
She's played.
that part so well it's it I mean I've never watched this is the first one I've ever
yeah because I think you'd go back and I can't wait I cannot wait to have time to do that
because they are brilliant no I did exactly the same with this one as I did when with the very
first one because you guys were all saying you got to watch it got to watch it yeah
started watching I thought this is I don't get it and stopped but I persevered with
the celebrity one maybe because you know the select it is different yes yeah and I'm
hooked.
It's brilliant.
But the girls
have said
they think the
non-celebrity ones
are actually
better.
I think because
you don't, I
wouldn't say better
I'd say different
because you don't
know them.
And they're doing it
for money.
Yeah, and people
are lying.
Yeah.
There might be a
mum and son in
there or, you know,
or someone's putting
on an accent.
Yeah, brilliant.
What a clever concept.
It's such a clever concept.
It really is.
And Claudia's just
how they picked,
selected her
They got it so right.
So, so right.
She looks amazing.
If you cut a fringe and put a bit of eyeliner on, to be fair, you're not too far off her.
A bit of plastic surgery as well, maybe.
No, absolutely not.
No.
I mean, bless me you now.
Honestly.
Maybe it looked like her nan.
Absolutely.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Get a cape on.
A little bit of bronzer and eyeliner and a fringe and you're there.
I'm ready for Halloween.
here's a little message about it actually
I've just been listening to the podcast with you and Linney
I could listen to you too all day
literally I could just sit down for hours
and just listen to you ramble on I love it
I've been baking cakes today because
the gym I work at one of our lovely members
has shaved her head for charity for cancer
so we've got a cake sale on Wednesday
so I've been baking which I don't usually do a lot of
So listening to you guys has got me through.
Lateness can't bear it.
My husband, if we've got to go somewhere and he looks at the map,
oh, it's an hour's drive, then he will want to leave an hour to get there.
So not allowing for any traffic, temporary traffic lights.
I'm menopausal, so I'll probably need a wee or two.
Yeah, just literally bang on.
It takes an hour, so we allow an hour.
But I'm getting him trained slowly over the last.
20 years.
Celebrators, that's the other thing I wanted to mention.
Absolutely brilliant.
Alan Carr is hysterical.
Worst traitor ever.
Yeah, I'm going to carry on enjoying that.
I applied for last year's series.
Brilliant.
And I got a call from a lovely researcher and I was convinced I was going to get on and I didn't.
They didn't call back and I was gutted.
So I'm just going to keep hounding them until they put me on it basically.
I want to be a traitor.
Anyway, I know you're really busy at the moment.
So just keep doing what you're doing, keep fitting in the pods.
We all love them and don't work too hard.
Bye.
Oh, thank you so much.
Lovely message.
Cool.
Would you like, would you do it?
100%.
Would you want a bit traitor?
Yes.
But I thought, oh, I really want to do it, really want to do it.
It was chatting to Zoe Ball about it actually on her radio show that I've chat, you know,
when I went on and we chatted because I said, you'd be good on it, so we're all talking.
You'd be good on it.
And then they had a balance one, didn't they?
balance mission
you wouldn't be able to do that now would you
I thought oh
but I could catch the thing
you could have been the one
absolutely because they didn't all do it did they
and I'm guessing they manipulated
that situation to work for
I don't know
I really don't know how it works
yeah because even all those tasks
they're clever aren't they're great aren't they
it's really clever
but yes I'd do it in a heartbeat
how can you not want to do it
no it's just one of those iconic things
to say you've done.
Not a great thing to do.
Brilliant.
Yeah.
Brilliant.
Very, very good.
Now, going back to, just digress a little bit, going back to the book launch.
Yes.
Must give a shout out to Natalie, Lucy B.
Okay.
She gave us the products for the anti-aging oil and lip balm.
Oh, lovely.
You used yours yet.
I've had one.
You have.
I gave it to you.
Did you?
Yes.
She gave us all one each.
Really?
Yeah, you've got one down there.
It's really good.
Is it?
Yeah.
So thanks for that, Natalie.
And thank your daughter.
Oh.
Yeah, so lovely.
You definitely gave it to me.
Yes, you took one from me.
You actually said I want one of those.
She gave me a bag full of goodies.
Fine, I love a look.
Yeah, she's one of my clients and her daughter's been working on this for years.
Really good products, yeah, so just wanted to give them a little shout out.
So, what is it, an oil?
So, face oil.
And is it, what's it called Lucy Bee?
Lucy B. And is that on Instagram?
I don't know, to be honest.
I would imagine so.
I would have thought so.
Let's give her a proper shout out.
Yeah, she started off with coconut oil.
She did all the coconut oils.
Really, lovely.
genuinely lovely product
and it was lovely for her to come
to the book launch and think of us
and bring us a few little treats
well I've found it
that's it
here we go yeah I try I mean I know you're probably
a little bit more
Lucy B I put anything on my skin
I don't always use the same products
and yeah facial oil really nice guys
oh so it's a balm and that's a lip balm
I haven't tried the lip balm but the oil I really like
but I love a face oil
Yeah, and it's all vegan.
Yeah, it's lovely, really nice.
Oh, thank you so much.
Yeah, that's terrible, isn't it?
It makes me look so ungrateful.
I just haven't had a minute to go through any bags.
Yeah, you've got bags full of stuff.
I just haven't, they've been put here and that's that?
It's terrible, isn't it?
Let's have a little bit.
What about, in a minute, it's Christmas.
Yeah, it gives me a bit of anxiety, thinking about it because I've just not, I can't get go.
I know once I get going, I'll be okay.
Yeah.
I've just got to get going.
I want to enjoy it.
I know, but then that's why we need to do all our Christmas shopping now.
Aesop.
So then you've done it and you can enjoy it.
But then Maria, Ro Ro Ro, your daughter, and she is right.
She's very good and she's like, well, what if that's in the Black Friday?
You can't do this.
I know.
You know?
Sorry, for anyone who's...
Oh, that looks nice.
You're just putting it on.
It's lovely.
Ores.
It's quite...
It's quite thick, isn't it?
It's lovely.
Yeah, it's really, I like it.
Oh, thank you so much.
Natalie is that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Natalie's the mom, Lucy's the daughter.
Oh, Lucy's the daughter.
Thank you.
Lovely.
I'll let you know.
Yeah, we just...
I just look in the diary, it's a certain thing.
So this week, you know, I've got home, done a detox, get at home, rush around, unpack everything.
And then I'm not right, what we're doing this week.
Oh, two nights is the pod.
And then I think, oh.
It's the ninth next week
And it's just going to roll and roll and it's going to be here
So quickly
And we are sort of November
We have lost evenings and Sundays
Because of obviously doing the live pod
Yes
There's a few, yeah
So that's something else that you kind of wouldn't normally be doing
In that socially things just become naturally busier
Because it's kind of leading up to Christmas
Yeah
Yeah
Um, yeah, just got, for me, it's more the Christmas presents.
I've just got to get going.
Yeah.
And I haven't, because I don't want to buy anyone.
And I just don't want to buy stuff for the sake of it, but I still want it to be a surprise.
I know.
It's nice to be a gift.
I might see if I can drag your, when your brother gets back from Barbados, see if I can drag him to London for the day.
I like having that one day in London, walk around, walk around, ideas, pick up some bits.
because you do get inspiration
I do and I like it
I like to go up there
so I would like to do one day
and also you don't want to leave it too close
because it gets absolutely mobbed
and I can't do it
I can't be in the shops
when they're so overwhelmed
when I've got serious shopping to do
it's different if you're just having a mooch
but when you've got serious shopping to do
I just find it so confusing
and disorientating
I don't like it
I think we should have a trip to Kings Cross
I've said it to you before
yeah I did go
oh you did I went with Dave
In the, yeah, we went up to London.
What did we go up there for?
I can't remember.
And we went to Cring's Cross.
Yeah, amazing.
Just to me, the station.
Yeah, it's incredible.
There's a lot of shops in the station.
But I think this is becoming a bit of a thing now, isn't it?
I know, it's quite busy.
Yeah.
But lovely, it was lovely.
I think they're doing this with some of the main stations, aren't they now?
Because even Liverpool Street has evolved massively.
It has.
But again, people haven't got any time.
So instead of going online, they're trying to put shops in places where people are
commuting, can I have 10 minutes in all of a bonus or...
Exactly that.
Brilliant idea, though.
It is a brilliant concept.
But again, Natalie, it's the same old thing.
I was in Marx's yesterday and went late to avoid being busy.
I went at 5 o'clock, hop us five by the time I got there.
Yeah.
So it's a nice time.
It's quite quiet.
But then everything I picked up that I liked, they didn't have it in my size.
Yeah.
So then you are going to go online.
Oh, yeah.
That's, you know.
I know.
I just, yeah, we've said this.
so many times it's a skill
Listen we're repeating ourselves
But everyone's thinking it
Do you know what I mean
It's not boring
Everyone's doing the same thing
What are you buying
Can you afford to buy anything
How much do I spend
Yeah it's
I do five stockings
I know you do
Linda five stockings
No eight stockings
Five grandkids
And my three kids
Eight stockings
Linda eight stockings
Linda does eight stockings
But yeah
But yeah
We're repeating ourselves
We'll do it
We're just got to
What's happening
Boxing Day
You're going to pop in
I don't know
What the plan is for Boxing Day
Obviously I'll be recovering from Christmas
I know
I know
What are you doing Boxing Day
Nothing
You've got Mark's family
You're not got Mark's family
27th
Oh so Mark's family
You're doing on the 27th
You guys on the 28th
Oh wow
Oh are we
Oh no that's a lot
No, it'd be fine
And Christmas Day
You've got Tony
Oh, wow
But boxing down
I'm saying
If we want really nothing
Nice chill
We could just have a little
Lovely little buffet
Yeah, let's see
We'll see
Yeah
Because obviously my lot
We'll all go to their
Prospective others
Yeah
Okay
We see
Yeah
Just a lot for you
No
I know you love it
Love it
Yeah
When you're gonna get
The old trees up
What's looking in the diary
I don't think
I think I'm going to try and do what I did last year
because you did the same, didn't you?
We split it up a little bit.
Yeah, and it was such a bit.
Wasn't it better?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I might do second or third.
Not next weekend, weekend after.
Yeah, start getting one down and starting to work.
Getting a few boxes down.
Just take, it's a lot to do one day.
It's a lot.
Or in one weekend.
Yeah.
And again, it's not enjoyable then.
I'd definitely be spread, no.
And you want it to be enjoyable.
I'm definitely going to try and spread the load.
But again, I need weekends to be able to do it.
Of course.
We've got Crawley, haven't we?
Wednesday.
That's Sunday the 16th.
That's it.
And then just the seventh.
But we won it all up by then.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, definitely.
Definitely.
And what else was we going to talk about?
You mentioned something about when you were away.
What was I going to talk about?
People not living, you met people.
Oh, that was right.
There's a couple of stories, actually.
We were away for Halloween, won't we?
So Friday was Halloween.
Yeah.
We went to this little restaurant.
And I felt like I was in a sitcom.
Because there was a lovely family eating their food.
Mum, dad, child.
And the dad just turned round.
And he took his eye out.
Oh.
And I thought it was a joke.
Hi-I.
No, I thought it was a Halloween joke.
Oh.
But then he was like, this is the only day of the year that I can get to do this.
This is my real life.
Stop.
And Mark just looked at me.
He doesn't like stuff.
He's screamish.
The kids are sort of just looking.
And I'm going.
What, so you're doing it for a laugh?
it was sort of a laugh but not not a laugh
well no
and it went in and then it came back out again
and I thought oh um
and his wife said oh he drives me mad
because this is the only day of the year that
he can do this and thinks he can get away with it
and so he thinks it's funny
he thinks it's hilarious
but it was a little bit screamish
but I was as usual
I said well good for you I said
absolutely you may as well
every cloud and all that I didn't know
what to say.
It was very
Curb Your Enfusia.
It was a very awkward moment
that I should write down
because it would be brilliant
in the sitcom.
I just,
he was very enthusiastic
about it as well.
But was he doing it
for your benefit
because he realised
who you were?
No.
He just thought,
it's Halloween
and I'm going to pop me out.
He said,
and I've dropped my eye.
He said,
so this is my second eye.
And she went,
oh, he dropped it in the sound.
And it was just very
strange.
And listen,
Good for him.
Amazing that he can talk about it.
Did Mark then proceed to remove his left arm?
No.
But in all honesty, we come out of them, Mark went, that was fucking disgusting.
Do you do?
But he finds things.
He said, I don't want to, he said, I don't want to eat now.
He said, well, I think that I should be warned if you're going to do something like that.
It doesn't like anything.
And it was, when it was out, it was quite, not gory, but, you know.
Well, it's different.
It's a shock, isn't it?
if you've not seen that before.
I don't think I've ever seen someone take out an eye.
No.
I don't think I have.
Teeth, maybe.
Yeah, teeth may be.
But not an eye.
And did you have children with him?
Yeah, little girl was there.
But they were all, it was fat.
You know, it was just really.
A bit obscure humor.
Obscure.
But I said to him, do you know what,
whatever's happened to you and you have one eye
and you can sit here and laugh,
brilliant.
Yeah.
Good for you.
You turn it into something that's fun.
And unfortunately, sometimes things that happen to you in life,
you've kind of got to put a funny twist to it.
But yeah, as you say, probably not everyone's...
Just when you're about to eat your dinner as well, that was the thing.
It wasn't really, it was about...
What was you eating?
Ordering your food.
What was you eat?
I'd like cheese.
Well done.
Oh.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
You know, it's better than the one big thing?
Two big things.
Exactly.
The new iPhone 17 Pro on TELUS's five-year rate plan price lock.
Yep, it's the most powerful iPhone ever, plus more peace of mind with your bill over five years.
This is big.

So that was that
And then the other table
It was a couple
And it just made me think
It was a talking point for you
I thought it was interesting
A couple came in
They went, oh yeah, hello
So they obviously knew the restaurant
And they sat in the window
And then they brought them over a glass of Prosecco
And they said oh congratulations are in order
So then we're all set the table and going
What do you think it is?
Because I would say they were
late 50s, early 60s, definitely.
You know, you and Dave's sort of age.
And I said, well, they might be second chance married.
They might have got engaged or married recently.
And then I said, well, maybe it's a wedding anniversary.
Anyway, after a while, Eliza, she said,
congratulations are in order.
What is it?
You know, we couldn't wait anymore.
So we had a chat.
And they said, oh, we've just moved here.
We've been coming here for eight years.
We love it.
and we've just bought our house here.
And I said, oh, straight away, me.
I said, have you got children?
Because then where we are is remote.
Right.
Remote.
Really remote.
Beautiful.
But remote.
Gosh.
And they said, yeah, yeah.
Between us, we've got four or six, I can't remember.
And one's here, one's there, one's in Dubai.
Some are here and we've left them.
and we got, you know, and I just thought about it
and I thought, I don't think I could ever
move from a family home also
because obviously this was a tiny little place they'd moved to
so I don't know, it's not sort of,
it doesn't accommodate a lot of people,
does that make sense?
So it's not like you're going somewhere
and it is beautiful, the beach and all that
and you've brought this beautiful rolling house
that everyone can come to, do you know?
Yeah.
And I just thought, I don't know if I could do
that move at that age
and not be around
grandchildren or children
I know loads of people do it
I know they do and I just wondered
your thoughts which I probably know but
I think obviously you're going to know my thoughts
and interestingly this brings me to a story
I bumped into a client of mine a couple of weeks ago
she won't mind me sharing this with you guys
and she's a client but she's sort of
you know when you just gel a little bit like Natalie
from our Lucy B lady
You make a connection with some people.
So when we see each other, we hug, we kiss.
She's lovely, they're lovely, they're local living near me.
And I bumped into her in Hartford, and she's very upbeat.
She's very attractive lady.
And but she just, you know, when someone just doesn't seem themselves,
and I said, oh, you're right?
She said, I'm not actually.
I said, oh, whatever's, I thought, well, she's going to tell me she's ill.
Please, God, no.
I said, whatever's happened?
And she said, oh, my daughter's going to go and live in Australia.
Hearing a lot of this at the moment because of the state of this country.
Yeah.
People escaping to Dubai, to Bali, to Australia.
I said, oh, I said, how come?
She said, she's just giving up her job.
She's 27, I think she said, 27, 28.
And she just wants to, she's going with her friend.
And I just thought, God.
Can you imagine that?
No.
It was bad enough when Maria went travelling.
I know, I know.
And I'm trying to really reassure her.
And inside, I'm just thinking, and I could see she was welling up.
Yeah, yeah.
And she's trying to put a positive spin on it and say, well, you know, they've got to live their own lives and, you know.
And they have, and it is amazing.
Great choice of places to go.
Absolutely.
And this is what I said to her.
I said, you know, you've got to understand.
She doesn't do it.
She's going to regret it.
There's nothing to say she won't come back.
Does she have a partner?
No.
Okay.
I said, nowadays, you've got.
FaceTime. You've got Zoom. You've got WhatsApp. You've got social media. Nowhere is that far.
I mean, Eliza is chatting to Emily. There you go. Like she's in Broxbourne? Yeah. I'm not so much with
SOF though. Oh, you know. Well, it's the time difference. It's hard. And that's the other thing.
It's hard. It's hard. We have found a sort of magic time, but I've got, I've, again, I've been really busy. She's been really busy. She takes me so, actually. I'm meant to tell you.
But again, it is different.
Listen.
It's different.
Of course it's different.
But I think there are ways around it.
It's not as difficult as it used to be.
Of course.
Having a letter.
Exactly.
Every month.
Well, yeah, my parents.
My mum would write.
My mum would write to her parents.
Yeah.
Because even then, the home phone, they didn't have one.
And when they did get one, it was so expensive.
Yeah, astronomically.
Or they didn't have one in Italy.
So who was you going to ring?
No.
She used to write.
I've got all the letters.
They was something they held on to, all her letters.
You know, at least now you can just...
I had a cup of tea the other morning on FaceTime.
Yeah.
15 minutes, having a chat.
Yeah, yeah.
So, but yes.
Yeah, going back to what you said, interestingly for her, she was heartbroken, genuinely heartbroken.
And we were chatting.
I was really trying to be positive about it for her.
And then I said, but she could meet someone out there.
And then that could be the thing that stops her.
from coming home or she could just love it
have a fantastic career out there
I know
it's a long way isn't it
well I don't know you have been so fortunate
and I say it all the time
because it's very very rare
what happens to you
you've got three children
who all live nearby
have done well
you've got good jobs
it's extraordinarily rare
for that to happen
so it might
is it that rare
yes
but maybe that's because
none of mine went to uni.
Yeah.
Because if you go to university,
you could meet someone
that's from wherever,
couldn't you?
Very much so.
And also,
their jobs are...
But uni gets you out of the nest early
and makes you independent
to want to travel or go wherever.
Which is brilliant.
Yeah.
But I don't want mine to.
No, no.
You're of the same mindset, aren't you?
But you've got to let them do
what they want to do.
But you have got to let them spread their wings.
I just feel as...
Well, again,
And Elliot's neighbour, much the same.
Got chatting.
Her daughters in New York.
Really?
She's having a baby.
They're coming back to the UK.
Because once you have, once those children start to arrive.
You want to be with your mum?
You want to your mum.
Yeah.
And so you gravitate back to, not in every case, but generally, I mean, for me, the fault of knowing that I had grandchildren.
And I've got to see them three, four times a year.
Oh.
Well, look, today alone, I've been to Elias, I've been to Marias.
I'm probably going to go to Domics after this.
I know it's, you say it's unique,
but isn't that unique to have...
I know that you know people like you.
But I do think it is quite unique.
I do.
I just from again, from when I've worked
in mediator, television runners,
people coming up the chain,
they're from Bolton, they're from Yorkshire,
they're from Ireland, they're from Scotland.
And all their parents,
they see their parents when they're not working and they travel home and but then do you think
that time is so special then because they have those stolen days and that's what i was going to say to
you does that make that coming home for christmas can you imagine not seeing everyone it must be presents
wrapped up just must be the best feeling but then you say that but like i still have that experience
where mine all sleep i know i know i mean they could go home yeah i know they're like a drink so that's
why they sleep
but they do
and how lovely
it's still special
Natalie but yeah
of course if I know
I've got to wait
three months
to see my kids
and grandkids
of course
Christmas is going to be
so magical
just beyond magical
but Lynne
I feel now
even stolen moments
like the holiday
was lovely
but I was thinking
yes
of course they'd bickering
or of course
but those little
moments where we're
sat there and we're laughing
and I just think
there's not a lot
of this left
No
There won't be loads of this left
Because they'll go through
As you said it before
You go through that phase
Where your parents are the last people
You want to be with
Eliza is very very good
But she's definitely getting there
Of course she is 15
Her friends
Of course
But this was very special
This few days
As much as Eliza
Mowned quite a bit
Did she
Yeah
I just said
I'd just be grateful
And I am like a broken record
but I said I'd never went anywhere
with my mum and dad
to a hotel ever in my life
together and you're moaning
and they go here
they go there
sorry we're not in Greece
or you know
Cornwall in the summer or wherever
but what would I
give to go and stay in a hotel
and have breakfast for my mum and dad
I never
never went on holiday
from anywhere
yeah but again it's like anything Natalie
if you haven't had it
I know
so they don't know
she doesn't know any different
I know
Look what holidays she's had this year already.
I said, sorry, in the car, it was funny.
I said, so, she went, no, I'm not coming on holiday with you when I'm 18.
I said, all right, we'll see when we're in Sweet in Dubai, honey.
Because you're not coming now.
I was wondering.
She went, oh, no, no, I said, no, that's fine.
It will just be the three of us.
And what are you going to do?
Yeah.
Because that's the other.
They don't realize, they're not, they don't realize financially how much things cost.
No.
Of course not.
work, hard work, goes into saving for a holiday.
I remember doing Florida.
It was our second trip to Florida because we wanted to get another one in.
Earlier when Dominic was still young enough to her, Maria didn't come.
No, she said that and she said, I can't believe I didn't go.
Now she said, I can't believe it.
And I think back, I think, why was she not with her?
Because she was at that age.
Because she was at that age.
Want to be with her mate?
She wanted to be at home.
So we've been there.
Of course.
But they come back.
And now they love a holiday with us.
Yeah, don't they?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But as I say, even these two days, to be able to have some time with Dominic and Amelia, like, nothing against you, Annalisa, of course, but I see Annalisa all the time.
Of course.
You barely see Dominic.
It was just so nice to just be able to sit around a table.
And not, you're not doing, not rushing.
No, no, I'm not worrying about doing housework or getting a wash on and doing this or rug going to work.
And Dominic, much the same, as much as he can't put his phone down because it's work takes priority.
But it was lovely to be in a pool with the Manhattan.
having a laugh. It was really lovely.
Good.
It's so important.
Everyone out there just really treasure, regardless of what age they are.
Doesn't matter.
Because it is, they're stolen moments now because our lives are just so busy.
This modern living is just, it's actually too much.
It is too much.
And I don't know how you rain it in and how you slow it down.
I think, I don't know how you do.
slow it down because we've got to be on it it's all about finance really a lot of it
for people of course so unless you're very if you're well off and you can look and go
I think I'm alright I feel like then I would slow it down big time see and I don't I can't
I know it frightens me I would slow it down big would you yeah I'd still be busy yeah but
maybe busy I wouldn't be trained to something no but I guess it's a different when it's not
it's very different for you
because you really love your work
yeah I love working
you love your job
and that's brilliant that you still do
yeah I do
so again everybody is different
in what they do
yeah
but I think also there's a difference
between when you're working
because you have to
because financially you have to remember
I'm in my 60s people
and you know
we've done our hard slog
so I think there is a difference
between working because you have to work
or because you would like to
because you choose to work
I agree
and that's the difference
huge huge yeah equally along the way just yeah make sure it's just all those little bits
yeah little tiny moments that you get like you say but i think going away even if it's for a night
is the key totally because otherwise you're getting somewhere and your eyes on the watch
and you've got to get home or you've got to be somewhere you cannot switch off then
agreed if you do a a day thing it doesn't work and look you haven't got to spend loads of money
No, you haven't.
This hotel that Maria found, it was really reasonable.
Yeah.
She went for it because it was relatively close to where we were going,
and it had an indoor pool.
And the pool was, we were in it for two and a half hours.
When we go away, as I always say to you, Lynne, if I go to Cornwall,
you know, you say, oh, but as long as I've got a hotel with a pool.
The girls are happy.
Well, Eliza is now older.
But, yes, the girls have been happy, and then Joni will be happy.
And Eliza, because she likes having a swim or laying down or whatever.
I think what you're going to find with Eliza is,
next couple of holidays she may have to bring a friend yeah and then that yes she can bring
them friends and they can have a little wonder off if they want to depending on where we're
going because i ain't bringing a friend to well well again natalie that's the difference now
everything is so expensive ridiculously expensive everything you do yeah it's again i thought
poulton's was great value for money yes you know they're not cheap the tickets don't get me wrong but
Natalie for what you get. Yeah, yeah. It's incredible. Yeah, that's good.
I think it's brilliant value for money. Well, hopefully they'll give you some free ones next time you
go, because you won't stop talking about them. Yeah, I'm giving a right-old go over. I'm going to
email them tomorrow. I am going to say, please listen to this pod and can we have some free
passes, please, for 2026. Trust me. Yeah, no, I did. I like Portons as well.
I was going to say something then about, oh, it's gone out my head. It must be that five-hour
driveling today.
Gosh, it's a long time.
I was going to say something regarding not Portons, where did we go?
Can't remember.
Oh, I know.
Legoland, when we went to Legoland, it would have been really nice if we'd stayed.
Oh, again, yeah, yeah.
Whatever it was, because again, we're just not doing that dry and having to get home.
And even that little bit of an evening, having a glass of wine and just relaxing after that nice day.
Totally agree.
would have definitely put a cherry on the top.
That one nighter, like I've done champneys before where you just go for the day, your health spot.
Doesn't work.
You've got to do the night, haven't you?
It's nice to have that.
It's lovely.
I just think it's at that little bit of a reset.
Change of scenery, change of routine, so important.
I actually prefer those little breaks to 10 days.
Yeah, I do.
I struggle.
I'm the same as you.
I struggle.
Ten days for me would be like, oh, God.
I didn't struggle in Greece though for 10 days.
I didn't.
But maybe because you had your own sort of space.
And it was a bit home from home.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because we're homebirds.
I guess it's that, you like that.
It was lovely cottage we stayed in where we went.
It now.
Yeah, it was really pretty.
It had about 15,000 steps up to it.
Oh, wow.
Which I didn't really.
It did say it on the Airbnb.
No, it did say it, but I didn't picture it.
Do you find these places then?
Do you do it?
Yeah, I don't mind.
But only because I just see the.
views I want views
but the stairs
you know what I'm like so bad with stairs
there was sort of slate stairs
and then another bit and then another bit
but what it did make me do is not
drink a lot when we were out because I was
shitting myself about going up the stairs in the dark
when we got home so Mark said maybe I'd
dig out the driveway
and create some large steps
with nothing to hold on to
I mean thankfully you didn't drink much
at Mark's fault to you
No thankfully not
honestly these cassidies i cannot be keeping up with them that was a lovely oh it was nice oh yeah yeah
it was lovely it was lovely i haven't seen no no it was really good yeah oh the wine was flowing
yeah weren't too bad no yeah in terms of numbers i thought it was going to be a lot more so you did
well we did it right i think good no good no there we go there we go so are we done we are we are
It's been lovely.
Yeah.
Nice little chat about everything.
Nice and chilled, isn't it?
A little therapy session.
And now I've got next week to be anxious about.
You've got nothing to be anxious about.
Did you like my notes?
Yeah.
I was quite relieved to see those notes just so we've got an understanding of what we're doing.
It all makes sense, doesn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
It'll go like that.
To be fair, I think the book lunch gave me a little insight.
Yes.
And the Islington one, I've watched it.
Yeah, did you like it?
I thought it was brilliant.
Oh, good.
I thought the three of you were brilliant.
Good.
Yeah, really good.
So it's just that, more of that?
Yeah, but with a larger audience.
Larger audience and also we're going to need to close in a little bit
because we're so, it was so intimate that we're so out there.
But I have been told, you know, remember it's a pod?
You haven't got to keep talking to everybody all the time, which is just what I love to do.
Yeah.
Can't help it.
But yeah, you learn.
We're learning all the time.
Yeah, of course.
And that was the first one.
So just be gentle.
Be gentle with us.
Please be gentle.
No, I'm sure we'll have some fun along the way.
I think we will.
And who knows, there may be more family members in the audience
because they keep cropping up everywhere.
I know, isn't it crazy?
Isn't it mad?
It's bizarre.
Yeah, so any more drawings or Dostas want to turn up?
I mean, they're just...
Yeah, they're just...
Yeah, they're mad.
It's fun.
It's good, though, is lovely.
Lovely.
And your uncle George sent David on the back of hearing all these stories
in the post, blessing.
So thank you, George.
I know that's really sweet
But they sent him
This envelope
Like a bit of a family tree
I'll have a look
Oh yeah
You might have photographs
Wow
Oh Natalie
Yeah
And there's a photograph
Of your granddad
Yes
And I went to Dave
Is that your dad
Granddad John
Yeah
I said no that's my granddad
God your dad is a bit of him
Wow
Yeah lovely
Lovely
It's very thoughtful thing to do
It's lovely
Thank you, auntie and uncle.
Lovely.
So, yeah, who knows?
Got to see them.
Got to see them.
I've got to.
Shame, they couldn't have come to the,
they would have loved that,
wouldn't they?
It's just such a lot again.
It's such a long way for them now.
Got to go and see them.
I have to go up to see them.
Yeah.
Now, interestingly, and I might be wrong.
Where are they?
No, they are.
Why do I always get this one?
Past Newcastle.
Why am I thinking Doncaster?
No.
Is that wrong?
No.
Darlington
Oh Darlington
No I've only got that on the brain
Because of that incident the other night
I haven't read up
I've got to read up in it
It's County Durham Darlington
That's a way
It's a way
It's a long way isn't it
But me and Mark need to do that
Not with children
We need to get a train
Or he does his magic drive in
And we need to just go and book a hotel
How far drive is that then
Six hours, six and a half
Oh it's a long way
Yeah yeah
You're sort of past everything
Newcastle past north
And it's just before you sort of
into Scotland.
So maybe if you end up doing a pod up there is a live pod.
That's what may happen.
For everybody who's now going to get a map out and tell me I'm wrong, piss off.
Right.
On that note, I hope you all enjoy this episode.
I hope that whoever's come to the live shows this week, you've thoroughly enjoyed them.
I will speak to you on Monday.
I don't know where I'm with yet on Monday.
Yeah, scarily, I've not done one and I haven't got any time to.
So don't worry, I'll get one to you.
It might have to be a little solo, actually.
I've not done one for ages.
Anyway, 077-8-28, 2019-19.
Lynne, thank you so much, as always.
You're welcome.
Look forward to meeting many of our listeners.
Well, by now we will have done, did we?
Who knows?
In the morning.
I always confuse them.
I'll confuse everyone.
But yes, I'm going to go and put some lip balm on now.
Do it, girl.
Lovely.
All right.
Have a great week, guys, and you.
All right.
See soon.
See soon.
Bye.
Thank you.
