Starting point is 00:00:00 Everyone is reaching for the same five names in Dynasty Fantasy Football right now. And if you do just that same thing, you might regret it. Welcome to the lineup fantasy football show. I'm Mitch Anderson. I'm Justin Mello. And Mello, it's rookie draft season, baby. We're back. Let's go. It is such a special time of year. It's like Christmas for adults who have a little bit of sickness in their brain, like me. Like a very specific type of fantasy sickness.
Starting point is 00:00:25 So I'm just so excited to be drafted. It truly is like the holiday season right now. They should be making movies about this instead of Hallmark movies. And it's just a guy crashing out. That's the conflict in the movies. He's crashing out about his rookie draft. But Mello, we're going to just go back and forth. And so I'm going to let you go on the clock for the first overall pick at the 101.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Who are you taking in your rookie draft? You gave me the easiest pick there is. It's Jeremiah Love. Consensus has got this one right. We're going to fade consensus quite a bit today, but not with the first overall pick. It's too obvious. I don't really feel like I need to back this up very much. Jeremiah Love is such a incredible talent.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Top three draft capital. I don't care how bad the team he's on is. He is going to get so much volume. He's going to be so efficient. Passing game, running game for years to come. I'm just so confident in him as a prospect, as everyone is, easy 1.1. We literally just did a hot takes episode last week.
Starting point is 00:01:22 And I think if we said anything other than you should take Jeremiah Love with the 101, it would have been too hot to even go in that episode. No, yeah, I would have been. sweating. I would have sweat through my entire outfit if I tried to come in with that. We were doing ghost pepper picks. That would have been like trying to eat a nuclear bomb. All right, I'm going to jump to the 102 that I don't know if everyone's in consensus with this, but to me he's in a tier of his own. That's Cardinal Tate, fourth over off the board, now attached to Cam Ward for the future. He was our favorite wide receiver going into the draft and now
Starting point is 00:01:52 clearly Tennessee's as well, taking him that high. You spend draft capital that high on a receiver, like you're making a plan for him. Mello, how could it? ever go wrong, taking a fourth overall pick wide receiver out of Ohio State? I thought you were going to say, how could it ever go wrong, taking a top five receiver who got drafted to the Titans? You went with Marvin Harrison, and I went with Corey Davis, but... So it turns out there are ways this goes wrong, but I do not think it does. Carnell Tate is so talented, he was so good at Ohio State, and before anybody hits me with the, he wasn't even the best wide receiver on his team. Mello, you put it perfectly a couple
Starting point is 00:02:26 episodes ago and you said Justin Jefferson wasn't even the best on his college team. And I think a lot of people would be happy to have him for a 102 pick right now. Yeah, I agree. He's my 1.2 as well. I have 1.3 in a league that I'm hoping he gets me. I don't think he will, but that's okay, because 1.3 is also a player in contention for 1.2, especially if you need a quarterback. That is Fernando Mendoza, the real life. First overall pick, Mitch, I see you noted down here that they, the sports books have him at 7.5 starts right now, which is probably. like a pretty appropriate line. So with that said, he is not a win now move in fantasy. He is a move
Starting point is 00:03:02 for the future, which if you have the third overall pick, there's probably a pretty good chance you're not trying to contend in 2026 anyways. But we've been pretty vocal on this show. We do like him as a prospect. He maybe doesn't have like the crazy insane upside as some other elite prospects we've seen in years past. But I think he's a really safe bet to be a very good quarterback in the NFL. The Raiders are heading in the right direction. He is somebody who's proven to have incredible arm talent, incredible decision making already. Not a huge runner, but does do it a little bit as well, which is a little bit of an added bonus, easily the top quarterback in the class. Yeah, this is one's a no-brainer. This is where it gets cut off for me, like almost in a tier of his own
Starting point is 00:03:44 again, but I think I'm okay bringing these next guys in. Let's talk about the 104. My rookie of the year pick, Mackay Lemon. I've talked about him enough, so I'm only going to take about 30 seconds here. Pro Football focuses number one receiver by receiving grade of all draft eligible receivers. Volume machine. We've likened him to Amman Ross St. Brown. You've now got A.J. Brown out of Philadelphia, and I think McCoy Lemon is going to soak up all those vacated targets and potentially more. And I think we are in for a very, very exciting 2026 from him. And now your turn to talk about the other receiver. We're Lemonhead, so I'm glad you put. Yes, we're Lemonhead. Eds.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Four. Five is Jordan Tyson. A lot of people have higher, which I love Jordan Tyson as a talent. I'm not questioning his ability whatsoever. And honestly, even the injury risk I'm not as concerned about either. I think the reason we both prefer Lemon is just largely the landing spot. You have a lave there who's already such a high volume guy.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Neither of us are big Travis A-chan guys, but he is there. They just paid him. You still have Camara. And it's an offense that we're not really so certain of. We're not sure if we want any pieces of. So that's a reason to be scared by Tyson versus the other two receivers we've talked about. But with that said, he still has an incredible talent with top 10 draft capital. I think he is going to have an incredible career.
Starting point is 00:05:02 So still worthy of the top five pick, no doubt. Absolutely. Let's hop to 106 Mello where I think this guy is very hard to price. And that's Shadarian Price. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported just last week that the sense around the Seahawks is that price won't be a bell cow, right? away. And so I think that's almost starting to scare people off a little bit too much. I think the hype got kind of crazy when he got drafted 32 by the Seahawks and now people are getting all
Starting point is 00:05:28 worried about what the situation will be. He is still running back with first round draft capital being plugged into the same Seattle offense that just won the Super Bowl with the now departed Ken Walker as the MVP, plus Walker and Sharbonnet ranking as the first and third most effective rushers in the NFL based on PFF's rushing grade for 2025. I want to also clarify the now departed means he's in Kansas City, not that Ken Walker's dead. But this is a really, really good opportunity for a very talented running back and almost a similar situation to Carnell Tate where everyone's like, oh, well, he wasn't even the starting running back at Notre Dame. You wouldn't have been the starting running back behind Jeremiah Love either. So he's an incredibly
Starting point is 00:06:07 talented back playing in a really good Seattle offense. I think he's a lock right here at the 106. I hope Bijan Robinson listens to this podcast somehow. There's like zero percent chance, but if he does, he could tell me that he would have been. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, Audric Estime too. Yeah, Autric Estime. Uh, moving to number seven here, there's a pretty steep fall off here for me after six. I think it opens up here. But for me, Casey Concepcion is who I would take here at seven. I'm not a fan of this Brown's offense. I don't really love having pieces of it. But Casey Concepcion, draft capital matters so, so much. I cannot emphasize that enough. First round draft capital. And he's going to get high volume, even if it's not a super effective offense. He's going to be their number
Starting point is 00:06:51 one receiver. Dialistically, the way he plays as a slot receiver who can win quick, he's the type of guy who's going to get high volume anyways. So that's something I'm willing to bet on with the seventh overall pick. Yeah, I agree with you, by the way. I would put him here as well at the 107. At the 108, a guy I was so excited for Mello, I'm going to pour one out. I probably shouldn't have done that. My boy, Kenyon Sadeek. They massacred my boy. The New York Jets massacreed my boy. There's water all over my mic after pouring that out.
Starting point is 00:07:23 But we've talked about this admonium. He is a fantastic talent, very raw, but we've described him as a wide receiver in a tight end's body. And like, you had so much hope. We want to see him go to Carolina. Instead, New York spends a draft pick on him. And then immediately, we were already not excited. They immediately spent another pick on Omar Cooper Jr. And now we've got this really weird situation here in New York.
Starting point is 00:07:47 where they had Mason Taylor as a second round pick last year, now they're spending another one on a tight end in the first round, then another pass catcher. I think New York was a yuck situation to begin with, and this was all just made it a million times worse. That being said, I started by sentence with, he is an unbelievable talent, and so you have to take him somewhere in this area.
Starting point is 00:08:09 If you don't want to go this high, I don't blame you, but he is a lottery ticket at tight end that we could be talking about one of the top guys if he breaks out. I'm glad you got through all that without being electrocuted by your microphone, which is now drenched in water. I probably should have brought like a towel up here before that, but I'll clean up or you do the next pick. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I'll try to give you time then when I talk about ninth overall, Ty Simpson quarterback for the Rams. Like Mendoza, he's someone you're going to have to wait on, except you're going to have to wait longer, at least one season, if not multiple. but the nice thing is he is tied to Sean McVeigh. He is hopefully tied to Pooka Nakua in the long term. These Rams, that's a teen that you want a piece of. 13th overall pick, that's great draft capital.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Regardless of what you might think about Ty Simpson, I know I had my preconceived notions about him before the draft. We know what Les Sneed thinks about him, and we think we know what Sean McVeigh. We think we know what he thinks about them, even though I guess that's a little bit more up for debate. But there's a reason they took him this high. They view him as their franchise quarterback.
Starting point is 00:09:13 You have to be willing to wait which stinks, but once he's ultimately their starter, you know that you have a great chance at a guy who can give you 15 years of production in fantasy football. I want Sean McVeigh's quarterback, whether he does or not. And it is really funny that like had Sean McVeigh come out and been like, we're so excited to have Ty in here and this is going to be awesome, blah, blah, blah, blah. Where would we be drafting him on this list? And it would move him over Sadiq at least for me. I'd probably put him over Casey too. and then like price is maybe where you make it a little more interesting. But I agree.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I think like try to fade the noise as much as you can with this guy. I know it's a little scary right now, but I do think this is a great investment at the 109. And Mello, I'm going to give you the daily double here on the 110 for a guy you're so excited about. This is my hottest take. He actually is the guy I talked about in the hot take episode. So it kind of works out. Tenth overall, I would take Dejaun's tripling of a,
Starting point is 00:10:12 those other nine guys are off the board, I'm taking stripling. And basically what it boils down to is this. Throw out your own analysis. I know we all have ego. I certainly have it. And I review these players. I wash their tape. I do my own analysis.
Starting point is 00:10:28 But you know who I trust more than myself is NFL executives. And at least one NFL executive in John Lynch decided that he is worth the 33rd overall pick, super high draft capital, and a great team. And in the short term, I think he can get good involved in this 49ers offense. In the long term, Mike Evans isn't going to be there. He could be Brock Purdy's number one receiver for the long term. George Kittle, by the way, another guy that won't be there long term. So I think he went to a phenomenal situation.
Starting point is 00:10:56 The Niners have been very good at drafting receivers like Devo, Samuel, and Brendan Ayuk in recent years in this Lynch-Shannahan era. I think he's being criminally underrated. I think Fantasy pros right now has him as the 12th highest ranked rookie receiver for Ricky draft. 12th receiver. That's outrageous. I mean, I have him here at 10
Starting point is 00:11:16 for everyone. I think it's outrageous how low he's being put. He's going into such a sensational opportunity to like almost immediately be able to make an impact. And I'll say some things you said last episode of like George Kittle will see what his health looks like this year and Christian McCaffrey.
Starting point is 00:11:31 They're trying to tone down his workload. Like there's a big, Ricky Pearsall is just feeling like they're like almost phasing him out of the offense. Like there's a ton of opportunity. for this guy. And this is a like burning hot take to be taking in this high in a rookie draft, but it also seemed like a burning hot take to take him that high in the NFL draft too. So maybe you're just on the same wavelength as Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. I'm riding or dying with him.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Yeah. If they want them, I want them. I love it. All right, on to the 11. We're going to talk Omar Cooper Jr. This one was perfect for me to take again because it's the same argument as Sadiq. I was unbelievably excited. You had me like, like yelling, hollering, barking into the mic during one of our rookie sleeper episodes. But the Jets situation is awful. He's going to be competing for targets with Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, Kenyon, Sadiq, Breece Hall. Like, I keep saying it, but I barely want, in fact, I don't want Gino Smith's number one
Starting point is 00:12:31 receiver. I'm scared of Garrett Wilson. I sure has held on one as number two, which is why Omar Cooper would have been much higher for me. But that being said, the talent, you've got to be. to bet on the talent and I've got to keep him here in the first round because I was so high on him going into it. That being said, the floor here terrifies me. On to the 112, I feel like I've been being so negative about these guys and I do really like these players and think you should be
Starting point is 00:12:55 excited to have them. My disappointment comes from how much better of a situation I had projected going into the draft. But the perfect next guy for that is Denzel Boston, who I actually wasn't all that high on, but I do think because of the type of player he is, there's a lot of potential here. For anyone who doesn't know, he was very dominant at Washington. He's six, four, 209-pound freak of nature, 11 touchdowns last season. He's one of those guys that could be an absolute red zone monster in the NFL. The hit on him is there's been like some separation issues and then the bigger hit is there's been some going to Cleveland issues and having to play for the Browns issues. And that's the one that bothers me.
Starting point is 00:13:36 mainly because he was the second receiver taken off the board by them after Casey Concepcion. And I think you made a great argument earlier with Concepcion that there's volume there and like he can truly be like an alpha and get a lot of targets. I just wonder if Denzel Boston's play style is like, is his talent going to get maximized in this Cleveland Brown situation? I don't think so. That being said, I think the touchdown upside and the big playability is enough to keep me here in the first round for him.
Starting point is 00:14:06 the next guy, I was very close on flip-fopping these two. Yeah, these two guys are very close in the rankings, but also very close stylistically, because they're both big-bodied wide receivers, and the next guy is Eli Stowers. And I know what you're thinking, Melo, that's a tight end. No, he's not. He is a wide receiver. In fact, he only recently converted to tight end in college. I mean, he really was a receiver for most of his career prior to, you know, just a year ago.
Starting point is 00:14:32 So he's a guy who is a great receiver. A lot of people have him over Sadiq even as just a peer receiver, which makes sense because we keep talking about the fact he really is a big bodied wide receiver. We'll see how things go in Philly. I think the landing spot is good in that it's an offense like trust to take a step forward going forward. Obviously, you have a Kai Lemon there now who we've talked about. You still have Devont to Smith there. So we'll see how the pecking order shakes out. Obviously Dallas Goddert is probably going to be pretty involved still in 2026.
Starting point is 00:15:00 He might be a guy you have to wait on a little bit. But if you like tight ends for wide receiver reasons, then Eli Stowers is your guy. And I think it's worth taking that shot in the early second round for someone who in three, four years from now from a fantasy football perspective could be an every week must start. Yeah, this one to me is so between him and Boston is so like, what does your team need? Because if you are weak at tight end, like I'm 100% taking him over Boston. Yeah, I think that's completely fair. All right, on to my next guy.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Finally, I can be positive about somebody in the landing spot they had. Let's talk about Antonio Williams, the third round pick in Washington, now attached to Jaden Daniels. Not a bad spot to be in. We talked about him a little on last Friday's episode, and I actually was talking about how the fact that he was the highest receiver drafted by them makes me not worried for Terry McLaurin. But that's only because the rest of the depth is so bad that I think both of them are going to have a ton of opportunity. And if you take it to a long-term view, Terry McCorn is 30 right now.
Starting point is 00:16:05 He's going to be turning 31 in September. I talked about him as a buy if you're a contender. You're probably not going to have to worry about Terry McLaurin in a few years. And if we see Antonio Williams breakout, he could be the receiver that's attached to Jaden Daniels, a current top four quarterback in Dynasty. There is just so much potential here and so much volume that could be going around an opportunity for him that, like, it's very difficult not to be. It's very difficult not to be really excited. Yeah, he's someone who is one of the biggest winners in the draft for me. He's someone I'm much higher on now post-draft than I was pre-draft.
Starting point is 00:16:36 But the talent's there, so super excited about him. Next tier, going on to the third pick of the second round. I had another receiver for you. Zachariah Branch, one of my favorite guys going into this draft, my forbidden lover. And let me tell you, the love is growing stronger because he landed in Atlanta, a spot that I'm actually personally excited about. I think some people are scared about this offense as a whole, the quarterback situation.
Starting point is 00:17:02 And then, of course, there's other great skill players. You have Trey Clandin and Bison Robinson and Kyle Pitts who's there for at least another year. But I think Zacharii Branch is in a position where come midseason, he could just be their number two receiver. It's the tax collector. Alamede Zakias is there. The tax collector.
Starting point is 00:17:22 The tax collector. Who else did? bring in this offseason. John Dotson, they brought in this off season. So it's far from a complete group. I think Zachariah Brants can take over as, like I said, their number two receiver. And yes, he's gimmicky, and that's one of the knocks on him. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:17:42 That's okay, because those manufacturer touchers get you fantasy points. I could see him being involved early in the screen game, jet sweeps, things like that. He's so explosive and so exciting. How can you leave him out of your top 15? I know he's a little gimmicky, but at the same time, do you want another deep threat in the Atlanta Falcons offense opposite Drake London for Tua Tawa-a-Va-Loa? Like, no, I don't. I'm all good. That's actually so true.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Low A-DOT is what you want to do. Exactly. I'm like, you could have said the same thing, honestly, about like, Devon A-Chain years ago is people didn't know how he would, like, translate. And people were, like, how is he going to work with Tua? And meanwhile, check down King Tua was making Devon A-H-N. It's like a top fantasy asset. Obviously, receiver versus running back, but... But similar, like, stylistically, even though they're technically different positions.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Yeah. Let's jump on to the 204. We're going to talk about Jonah Coleman, which is... This one hurts me a little bit. Because I think I'm buying into the buzz a tiny bit more than you that he could be taking some work away from RJ Harvey Harvey, but it's not quite the way that people are blowing it up right now. I think he's going to get that opportunity, like,
Starting point is 00:18:52 closer to the goal line and get some of those, like, high value touches. And it's funny because I actually compared him pre-draft to Mike Tolbert and said that he's just going up going somewhere and being like this insane touchdown vulture. And like that might have been my best prediction of the draft because that's what scares me with RJ Harvey is missing out on touchdowns. And so because of that, like, if you're going to get a guy in Sean Payton's offense that's got a chance to compete on third down and get goal line touches, I want to take that chance on him. Yeah, and I don't blame you there. I think in that same episode I can
Starting point is 00:19:24 imperative to C.J. Anderson. He ironically ends up in Denver. That's a great point. My concern is, of course, the draft capital we talk about day three pick. I think if you're okay getting a committee running back with touchdown upside, Jonah Coleman's your guy. I just would, I wouldn't hold your breath on him developing into a every downback. No, and I want to clarify that. I don't think the ceiling on Jonah Coleman is very high, but I do think the floor is pretty good if you need a guy that you can plug and play over the next few years. Yeah, I would agree with that assessment, definitely. Let's go back to receiver, though, here for the 2.5.
Starting point is 00:20:01 We're going to be talking about Chris Bell, the wide receiver who was taken by the Miami Dolphins. Actually, their second of two receivers taken after they took Caleb Douglas a little bit earlier in the same round, that third round, will come back to him in a little bit. But I think the reason a lot of people have Chris Bell much higher than Douglas, I think they should be pretty neck and neck. but the reason people like him is because of the upside, which upside is key in fantasy, which makes sense he's coming off a torn ACL,
Starting point is 00:20:30 which is the reason he fell in the draft. Otherwise, he would have gone higher. He is a very complete receiver, hopefully when healthy, a very explosive receiver, a playmaker. And he has the chance to be the number one offender or the number one receiver
Starting point is 00:20:42 in this Dolphin's offense, who we're not very excited about right now, but long term they could turn this thing around. He could be their number one weapon, and he could end up being a pretty substantial steal in the second round. Yeah, who he's fighting off on the depth chart is not daunting in any way right now. No, not at all. Except for our Guy Vali-Leak, Washington. Of course. I'm going to jump to the 206. We're going to go from Bell to Bell, and I'm going to talk about Skyler Bell, my man out of Yukon.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Last time we talked about Yukon, I was giving my diatribe on that asshole Jordan from Elliot. No, Elliot from Jordans from Jordans. Jordan from Elliot's. Jordan from Elliot's. that with his ridiculous promos that never hit and then they immediately lost the Yukon women in the file four. Of course. Can't keep getting away with it. That being said,
Starting point is 00:21:27 I mentioned Skylar Bell as one of my favorite sleepers in the draft and I'm not sure he could have fallen to a better spot than with the Buffalo Bills in that rare case of a late fourth round pick that could be an immediate contributor on one of the highest powered offenses in the NFL. I was so happy to see he landed in Buffalo. I was a guy that I know you loved a lot and I like too.
Starting point is 00:21:47 The draft capital, I was a little disappointed with, but it's okay because he's playing with Josh Allen. Yeah, exactly, exactly. And he's competing with Cookie Boy, Keon Coleman. Like, he's going to be fine. Yeah, not the stiffest of competition on that team. All right, then moving on to 2.7 here. We're on a run of receivers, and I teased him a little bit earlier.
Starting point is 00:22:10 We're going to talk about the other Dolphins receiver, Caleb Douglas, the one who actually had higher draft capital. We're higher on him than consensus because of that draft. capital. He is a big bodied receiver, a very talented guy who probably isn't perceived to have the same type of athleticism or like refined skill set as some of the other receivers, which is why I think some people have him ranked lower. But he was the Dolphins top drafted receiver in this class and he is a guy who could ultimately be their starter, be their number one receiver by season end, and I think it's worth taking that swing where you can get them. Yeah, I completely agree.
Starting point is 00:22:52 I love that. Let's go to the 208. We've got Jeremy Bernard out of Pittsburgh. I think he's great, but the worry here is what the hell are we even going to expect in 2026 in Pittsburgh? I think it will be Aaron Rogers personally, but oh my God, what if it's Mason Rudolph or Will Howard? Like, and then you've got the target competition with Michael Pittman, D.K. Metcalfe, Pat Friarmouth, and so it's just a tough situation, but like I said, like I am excited about the upside long term, second round pick, 862 yards last year at Alabama. He's a great producer, and I hope he gets the opportunity. Don't sleep on Drew Aller either. I'm just kidding. I'm going to keep sleeping. It's okay. You can keep sleeping. It's totally fine. All right, yet another receiver here at 2.9, Malachi Fields.
Starting point is 00:23:38 I'm really excited about what could be for Malachi Fields in this New York Giants offense that could be ascending, could be an offense that you want pieces of. Obviously, Malik Nibis is the bell of the ball, the one that everyone wants, and he should be. Malachi Field's really interesting, 6-4-218, huge-rece, huge-bodied receiver, who on a team that just kind of has like Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton behind Malik neighbors, you could realistically see Fields turning into their number two receiver. Day 2 draft capital, he was the 10th pick of the third round. So he's somebody who I think is even getting slept on a little bit maybe because of the upside he has.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Yeah, he excites me a lot in bestball. I mean, we just have the hot takes episode where I mentioned Jackson Dart as my MVP pick early on, Dark Horse. And like so, I think I'm going to be stacking a ton of him in bestball. But long term, I would love to have him attached to Jackson Dart too, who's so young and has an opportunity to be the quarterback for years in New York. So much upside. So much upside. Jumping into the 210, we have got, I believe, our final quarterback of the day. We're going to talk about Carson Beck, and I want to give my crazy take.
Starting point is 00:24:52 I think we're all undervaluing Carson Beck because he's too easy to meme. Like, you try to say anything positive about Carson Beck and somebody sends you a Sid the Sloth meme from Ice Age, and so nobody wants to say anything positive. But I actually, and I've been so negative this episode, I actually think this is a pretty good situation for him. And I think most people would project, obviously, that Jacoby Brissette's going to went out the job as the starter, and that's what they told him going into the offseason. But, like, how long is that actually going to last? Like, who knows?
Starting point is 00:25:20 I think Beck has a better chance than people think to start at least some games this year. And then if he's the weak one starter in an Arizona offense, that, of course, things are going to shift now with Jeremy. I love there. But we saw Berset dropping back for, like, 45 passes a game. Yeah, could be high-powered. And especially in Superflex, it's worth taking that shot. That is a very important clarification.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Thank you. If we're just talking one QB, I'm all. set on Sid. Sid the sloth, Snapchatting Sid? Should we coin that? Snapchatting Sid? Yeah. I think there's a big difference between Superflex and one QB, but Superflex, I think it's a totally fine shot to take. Yeah. I mean, he could be like a Tyler Shuck, who like not great draft capital, but
Starting point is 00:26:07 took over on a horrible team and ended up being pretty good and he's going to have a chance to be a franchise guy. So I think we could see a similar path to precursor back. But moving on from Snapchat, Sid, I want to be a lot of. to talk about one of my other favorite sleepers of this draft. Demon Claybourne, who got taken by the Minnesota Vikings. We've talked about on a previous episode, he is a big play waiting to happen. Yeah. Like the definition of the home run hitter. I'm a big fan of the talent. Draft capital wasn't there. I tell the cautionary tale of these day three running backs. He is one. The good news is I think he is
Starting point is 00:26:41 somebody who could be a part of this offense in short order and even be kind of the guy in short order like the other veteran running backs they have in this Minnesota running back room do not excite me very much but this offense as a whole does and if Claiborne can carve out a significant role you could be looking at one of the steals of the draft. Yeah, we we were so high on him. You were the most high on him as we talked about in that episode. You introduced me to DeMond Claiborne and so seeing him fall in a spot that he actually could have the potential to get some real work is just so exciting and I almost want to have him a high. higher on this list.
Starting point is 00:27:19 I know. We're already higher than consensus, but part of me wants to push him up more. I already feel ridiculous. All right. On to our final pick, and then you're going to give an honorable mention right after. This is Jacoby Lane. I think extremely interesting case here. Not the thinnest wide receiver room that you just walked into, but it's like early stages
Starting point is 00:27:39 of O-Zempic thin. It's got some meat on the bones, but if you poke it, it's actually a lot more fragile than you think, which is ironic because he's actually pretty skinny. another 6-4 monster, but like, once he's like 195 pounds. And so I think there's a chance Lamar Jackson could have a brand new best friend here in Baltimore. And I actually forgot to say that, yes, Baltimore Raven Jacoby Lane. I think he is a really, really high upside pick to be trying to grab at the end of the second round, third round turn. Yeah, he's a very interesting guy to me, but one that I think I'm starting to grow on myself quite a bit.
Starting point is 00:28:15 and just to give an honorable mention because we went through the first two rounds, but there's someone we just had to talk about. And that is Kalyn Black, the running back who was shockingly taken as high as he was in the third round of the draft. And I think one thing we haven't even really addressed yet is all these other running backs that went day three of the draft. That consensus everywhere you look has in their top 24 that we don't. Nick Singleton probably being the most notable one with the Titans. Emma Johnson, Kate Tran Allen, Mike Washington Jr. These are all guys that are being ranked higher than Kaelin Black, wherever you look.
Starting point is 00:28:52 But not for me personally. And I think Mitch, same for you. Yeah. And I think the biggest reason why is, I mean, just rewind this episode and listen to me talk about stribling. It's the same thing, different position. Same team, though, with the 49ers. Like, draft capital matters so, so much regardless of what you think about a player.
Starting point is 00:29:10 I mean, they came out and said they viewed him as the second best running back in this class and whether or not that's true, they view him as that, which means they're going to give him those opportunities. McCaffrey, obviously, at the tail end of his career, he could be the starting running back for Kyle Shanahan's offense in short order. Probably my single favorite sleeper of this rookie class. Yeah, he's a great biding your time kind of guy, like you said, like obviously you're not back outside of injury, of course, but you're not back on him coming in and taking the job. But if you believe in the talent, which I think we do in the draft capital, like, I think it's a fantastic pick. If you have your rookie drafts coming up and you have any more questions about
Starting point is 00:29:45 the picks, make sure leave them down below and we'll answer any comments we can. Mello, we got anything left? Nothing for me. All right, we'll catch you guys next episode.
