My favorite episode was the first episode that I ever watched, and it was the cat burglar. Now, tell everyone about your illegal situation.

That episode, watching it live was definitely a trip. What did you think about me before you met me versus when you actually met me? So you have three personalities, not two. For the 500th episode of Locked in, I wanted to do something different and special, something real. So today I brought on the person who knows me better than anyone, my girlfriend, Letitia Duarte. You've heard my story a hundred times, but this is the first time you're hearing hers. She's opening up about her arrest, the mistake she made, what it's really like dating someone with a criminal past, and everything we've gone through together behind the scenes. This is the most personal episode we've ever done and the one you've all been waiting for.

Letitia, welcome to Locked In. Hi, Ann. What the audience doesn't know is that you've sat in that chair now. Technically this chair, because it used to be reversed, but multiple times. When we first met, we agreed to do this thing like every few weeks where we record an episode just for our use. And we have it stored on the Google Drive. So our feature kids one day can see the old episodes, which is pretty cool, which we would recommend. If you're in a relationship, you guys, you don't need fancy cameras.

Just like record it, even if it's a voice memo or just like on the iPhone. It's a cool way to just save the memories. Yeah, 100%. It's so cool. How many times do you go back and look at those old episodes? Anytime I miss you. When we first started dating, she would just rewatch them all day. I think our first one I watched maybe like 25 times, I swear to God.

But it is so cool to look back on you just see the growth and you see what's happened, what hasn't happened, everything like that. So definitely would recommend it. And even if it's just like non-relationship-wise, just like goals, you know, just talk into the camera what your goals are and see if it comes to life. Yeah, no, it would be super cool. Like, I was telling you when we had just started dating, too, I used to journal a lot. And so, like, I, like, even the other day when I was at my mom's house, I was, like, looking back at some of the journal entries from, like, 2016. I'm like, that Leticia would have never imagined that I'd be here, you know? Yeah, I'm locked in.

Unlocked in. And, guys, she has been arrested, so she does qualify to be a guest. She has been impacted by the criminal justice system. We'll get to that later in this episode. but in the meantime, this is episode 500. 500. Congratulations. Thank you. Yeah, I told you you'd be the guest and you've been nagging me for the last couple of weeks because we've had scheduling delays about getting you on.

You've been so busy. Oh, I've been so busy, right? No, but I was super excited. Yeah, no, it was cool. We just filmed the George Santos episode today and this is my second one in the day. I can't believe it's been 500 episodes. I mean, this January, like by the time this comes out a month from now, a month and a half, it'll be three years since I started the podcast.

For listeners that I've just joined in, I started doing one a week. And my first big episode that went viral was the JD Delay episode. And that hit like 10,000 on YouTube within 24 hours. And then I went to two episodes a week, then three episodes a week in 2024. And earlier this year, or actually end the last year, I went to five episodes a week. And it's just grown. But I love that it's, you know, people ask me, all the time. Do you ever get tired hearing the same thing? And it's like, I really don't because

it's so diverse now. One day it'll be a law enforcement officer, a next day a lawyer, another day a criminal defense attorney, or a someone that went to prison, a shot caller, or, you know, like a politician. You just, it's so diverse. So it's just really interesting to say. Yeah. And I think that like everyone's stories are their stories. You know what I mean? Like, not everyone who got, who went to, like, let's say like you went to Connecticut. Like not everyone who went to that exact prison has had the same experience. You know what I mean? So everyone joins different clubs or clicks or whatever. And that shapes kind of like what their experience is, right? Yeah. And guys, we're also going to do a Q&A at the end of this episode. I posted on Facebook questions for

us. So we have a bunch of questions. We're going to answer after this interview. So that's something to look forward to in this as a little special 500 episode. I wonder what we're going to do for the a thousandth, a thousandth episode. I butchered that. That's okay. Do you know how many you do a year? I mean, it's five a week times 52. What's the math on that? I don't know. Because like, are you going to hit it next year? A thousand times 52 weeks. Let's see. I guess I have my phone here. I normally never have my phone in here for interviews, but we need it for the questions. So five times 52 is 260. Oh, okay. So not till the beginning of And the last milestone, so I did my dad for episode two was the very, like, first time I had him on.

And then episode 100 was my dad. He came on the show. He's like, what? You don't want me for 500? I was like, now we're to switch it up. And it was, I got a comment or a message. I was like, why don't you have like a really cool, like kingpin story or something for 500? And I was like, well, I do those types of stories all the time.

I think it's really different to bring you on. And it's a different perspective because the audience. doesn't really get this much out of me. They're used to just it being guest-driven, which I love. If I did this type of conversation five days a week, I don't think anyone would listen. Because it's not that type of podcast, and that's what makes it so different and special. Yeah, no, I love your podcast. I was watching your podcast before we even started dating.

Yeah, tell the audience about that, what you thought of it, how you came across it, all of that. I think, I mean, like, I knew of you. One, because I went to school with your brother. And two, just because, like, being local, like, I would go to the parties at Tuxedo. and all those things. So I knew of you for a while. And I don't know exactly how I found your show specifically, but I know that I had seen it like a clip or something on Facebook.

And then I like ended up going back to watch it. So like even one of the, sorry to like already like bring up one of the questions, but one of the questions was like the favorite episode. My favorite episode was the first episode that I ever watched and it was the Cabrugler. Everyone loved that. That was, you know, that was the episode of the year last year. That's crazy. It was so good.

Right around this coming out. It's going to be the Spotify rap, so it'll debut what the episode is. I think it'll be probably the Bobby Shmurdo one, not based on like if it was a good interviewer, not just by the number of views and listens on it. And that was had a lot of mixed opinions on it, mixed reviews. The Bobby Shmurdo episode, listen, like, I'm here for like a couple of your, like, interviews, right? And it's cool because we get to listen to it outside. And so, like, sometimes I'll have, like, the headphones on, sometimes, like, guests are, you know,

guests are a lot more, like, expressive, some more than others. That episode, watching it live was definitely a trip. Just tell everyone the full story from, like, the beginning of that day, you know, where I was coming back from Cal, just tell everyone the whole story completely. You were coming back from California that day? On the Red Eye. Oh, yes. Oh, my gosh. Right, because you didn't know until like maybe two, three days prior, right? So you had the trip booked already. You ended up shortening the trip to come home early. I mean, I'm going to tell the audience, it was definitely just to see me. It wasn't for the Bobby Schmurta episode necessarily.

But you ended up having the Bobby Schmurta episode to do that night. Poor Matt had to stay waiting to pick him up for hours and hours after her red eye. And then what else happened? They came here with... At what time? Like 12? Midnight. 12.30, maybe.

with the biggest posse I've ever seen. Listen, it's normal for guests to come in with, like, other people. That was the most amount of people I've ever seen in the studio ever. And he was drunk. He was annihilated. He was shooting like hoops

on the basketball thing in there. And missing every single one of them. But honestly, hilarious. And we had to let him smoke in here to calm down. But here's the best part. So when I went into the interview, there was maybe like five or six people in the posse. When I get out of that interview.

Oh, there's like 25 people in here. And it was just crazy because, like, listen, I'm in PJs. Like, I'm ready to go to bed. It's midnight. Like, it's time for bed, you know? So I'm just lounging, like, the five guys are here. And, like, normally, like, either Matt's here, someone else is here. So, like, I don't feel as, like, weird.

And not that any of the guys made me feel weird, honestly. Like, I was pretty comfortable the whole time. It was just kind of, like, a what the fuck moment. But every time that door would open, I would see more and more people come in. when they left, like even in the peak of my smoking weed days, I've just never seen that much debris everywhere. It smelled like weed in the studio for days. We had a frieze it.

The studio was wrecked. I was like, this is why I got out of the music industry. This is how the rappers are. And it was so funny because we had just recorded, or I don't know if we had just recorded it, but like a couple weeks prior, you went on my podcast. And we talked about like how awful it was. like not that rappers are awful but like dealing with them sometimes is a because these giant possees you don't really you don't have control over that many people but also because like

it's just just so crazy like some of the things they do yeah and I felt that that you were like all alone out there whatever it was so I mean it was don't get me wrong it was a great interview like performance wise it was really good I know my core audience didn't necessarily like it but it did help bring a lot of new viewers to the podcast and it was a different perspective And, you know, we are doing bigger names now, which is cool. And I know sometimes they might not be the best speakers, but it does help bring attention to the podcast, which ultimately helps our goal of getting the ordinary people's stories heard. And that'll never change what my goal is to always have average everyday people. So I know some people are like, oh, you're going to get Hollywood, this and that.

But like a lot of the times, especially early on to us dating too, you would send everyone to the restaurant and be like, oh, like my girlfriend works there, like whatever, like introduce yourself. Or who was it Travis? When you had Travis on, him and his wife came to the restaurant. And we had been maybe only two, three days. No, that was one date in.

That was Sunday. And it was Friday. It was July 4th weekend. You're right. Yeah. You're right. I saw you twice, the first one, and we'll get to how we met and everything. But, yeah, Stanziato's best restaurant in town. Yeah, send all your guests there, and we love it.

Yeah, we love Stanziados and good donut shop, too, grounds donuts. Oh, yeah. And now sometimes I'll part in the mornings and then I'll see guests that way, where they'll come for coffee. When Matt brings them in there. And the Matt we're talking about is Maddie Ice. I know one of the questions on the list was, can you give context for Maddie Ice? because if you follow me on Facebook, we've been posting a ton of behind the scenes, stuff of like, because me,

you and Matt live together. And we're like the three amigos. So we're always posting about us going to boxing or cooking or messing around, and it's always like Maddie Ice. So Matt is my best friend that lived with me before Letitia started living with us. And he ran all my socials while I was away during Mr. Beast. So a lot of people didn't even realize I was gone when I did that Mr. Beast video,

but he ran the whole thing and made it look like I was still here and did a great job. And he helps with guest booking along with my brother. He helps with hospitality, guest hospitality. And he runs my social media, helps post all the clips and stuff. I still do all my own editing and I make the clips. But he does all that. And Matt is like the little brother I never wanted. Like he...

He's older than you. I know, but he doesn't act. Listen, I love Matt to death. I really, really do. but oh my gosh like I grew up with brothers so I think that like even in the beginning we would talk about it I was like listen this does not bother me at all like I know that like other people would be like oh my gosh like why is he always around it literally feels like I'm reliving my childhood sometimes living in that apartment I started and if anyone wants to know how me and Maddie Ice Matt will have him on the pod maybe he'll be episode a thousand but he got kicked out of the club one night when I owned it and I had let him back in twice in the same night so that's how we met and we've been friends of him ever since since 2015. But he's a good dude. And everyone, it's funny when guestwalk and they're like,

yo, what I'm Maddie Ice. So he's a good dude. So let's talk about how we met. Let's hear from your perspective. So, I mean, like I said, I knew of you. I had seen your podcast a couple of times. I'm not going to say that I was this crazy subscriber, like watching every episode because frankly, even nowadays, you post so many that like I just can't keep up.

Love you. So we met really because you became really good friends with my boss. And at the time I was managing the restaurant. So one of my biggest roles really is just getting to know the customers, like making sure that everyone's okay. Like table touching. When we say it all the time, like table touching, just making sure that everything is going smoothly. So it was the night before my boss's birthday. And you guys had come in.

It was you and Kevin. And you guys were sitting at the high top at the bar. And I didn't think that my boss was going to come in. It's his birthday Eve, you know. I mean, I wouldn't, but to each their own. Yeah, she celebrates her birthday for the whole week. Yeah, and I don't go that whole week. But so we, so he, yeah, so you guys were sitting down at the table.

So I just wanted to go over and make sure you guys were all good. So I don't know, we were like shooting the shit a little bit. And like, I thought you were cute, you know, but it was one of those things like, oh, he's cute. Like, whatever. He's unavailable, you know, he's my boss's friend. It's fine. So I check in with you guys. and make sure everything is good, everything is great, whatever. So whatever, we end up getting

into a conversation that, like, I don't know, we just carried on, right? And so I was like, oh, let me show you guys what I got for my boss's birthday, like whatever. We're just hanging out. All of a sudden, boss comes in. So when boss comes in, mind you, I have worked for this man since I was a literal child. I started working at this restaurant. I was 17 years old. So I've been there what feels like my whole entire life, you know? So he comes in, like, we're all shooting in the show fun times. That's like my favorite when like everyone just involves in a conversation, servers and everyone just, we're all in like a big group, whatever.

So boss ends up being like, well, you know that. Ladisha's a felon too. Like, Lidisha's been to prison or not, she didn't say prison. He said, Lidisha's been to jail too. Or he's gotten arrested too. And that's when the whole conversation changed because everyone's like, Oh, what did you do? What did you do? And so, like, briefly told Kevin and you, like, what had happened? And then the next day, or Kevin invited me to come the next day here to the studio. So then I come here to the studio. I record with him. Ian would not even get up out of his chair to say bye. But you did say that I looked cute right when I got here. So kudos. And my dad was hitting on you, too. Yeah, your dad was like, no, I forgot what your dad said. He said something super funny that day.

He loves to come in the office and hang out at the studio just to put it into context. Everyone, he'll meet a lot of the guests. Sometimes he'll form opinions of the guests after they leave. He likes listening to the episodes. So he's cool in that regard. But go on. So he did make a comment. I end up leaving the studio, whatever.

I go back to Stans because it's Love Island. It was the season finale? No, it wasn't the season finale. No, no, it wasn't. But we just had like these huge streaming parties with all of the staff and like the side that's closed off. So we're in like our party area. So we're having the screening. You guys end up coming.

I'm like a whole bottle of wine deep by the time you guys get there because I was like, oh my God. Like I just went on a real podcast, you know. So we're watching the thing. Or so you guys sit at the table. You guys are having dinner. I'm like talking to you guys probably slurring my words terribly. I don't know how you literally looked at me and said. Yeah, this girl's cute, whatever.

But we go back to watch. You guys end up coming over there saying hi, whatever. Then we all end up going to the bar after the episode. I tattooed my name on your arm with a pen. And then you tattooed your name on my leg with a pen. And you told me that tomorrow, like the next day, you were going to get my name tattooed. And we've just kind of been inseparable ever since, right?

Yeah, so we ended, I was there with other friends. One of my other friends actually was interested in you that night. Then we drove him home and then me and Matt were going home and you had texted me the picture of the tattoo and you're like, don't forget. And then Matt was like, do you want to just go back? I was like, screw it. Let's go back. So we went back at 2 a.m.

And this is like, this is so July 4th weekend of this year. I'm like on a three week bender from coming back from. Mr. Beast just, we were going out, having a good time making up for all the time I had lost. And we went back and you were shocked. I was, oh, because I had texts. I was sitting right next to my best friend, my best friend. You also got to me that day. But I was sitting right next to her and, like, we had exchanged contacts and whatever.

And I was like, if he does not text me, and within five minutes, I'm texting him. And she's like, you better fucking text him. She's a big fan of the podcast, too. And yeah, surprisingly so. I met her that night. And she listened to the podcast, too. She liked listening to it. I'm always shocked who listens to the podcast from my past.

Like, just in Danbury alone, because there was a lot of haters in Danbury, as you got to experience with your own situation. And, you know, now there's like a lot of people that will, that, I don't know if they badmouthed me in the past or whatnot, but there was people that do listen to the podcast now. It's always surprising who listens to it, I guess is what I'm saying. And it's definitely, it's just interesting, you know, what it brings out because people like the content because the content's not about me. It's about these guests and they're like mini documentaries. Yeah, no, I love your content.

It's definitely very different from mine. But I like, you inspired me so much during this whole process. You know what I mean? And even like listening to some of your videos and like questions you ask and like how you, you almost go in like a chronological order has helped me so much, you know? Okay, so basically, it's just me and some industry people who get together. We have a couple drinks, and we just shoot the shit and complain about work. And it's the best. Restaurant industry, to put it in perspective. Restaurant industry, I kind of want to just make it a little bit more broad, too. Just do hospitality in general. I do, there's a stripper that wants to come on, which I cannot wait for the day. But just a little bit of everything, you know, like you went on, you were talking about like grocery store and that aspect like working at a deli, things like that.

Yeah, and she interviews some of my guests. You'll see some of my guests come on hers that just happened to work in hospitality. There's a big crossover between people that went to prison and people that worked in restaurants. And if any guests that are upcoming coming on that want to come on hers, too, let us know. She has a nice studio now up above us next to our prison set. It's really cool. Built her own custom studio. I know. And I love it. And she's been running her socials. She's been growing it. You see the grind that goes into it, though.

It's a lot. To do it professionally, it's a grind. And like, listen, I obviously, like, I'm very fortunate that, like, you are behind me, you know, like you have this equipment and all that stuff. Me, where I'm at right now, I think it's a grind. I can't even imagine what it was like for you when you had just started. Anyone who thinks that you have it easy, Ian, like, I'm looking straight in the camera. You're dumb. This, like, honestly, you were the hardest working man I've ever seen in my life, ever seen.

Aw. You're the best. So that night we met, we stayed up to, like, 5 a.m. We went back to the studio and just hung out, chatted, yapped, and the rest is history. We've literally seen each other pretty much every day ever since, except if I'm traveling. And now you pretty much travel with me. Yeah, well, you told me that you were never going to travel without me ever again. Well, there is one upcoming trip.

I can't disclose yet, but that I have to go away just for a week, but it is a big and important trip. Yeah, I'm going to be posting on my story every day screenshots of your location and being like, where is Ian? That is funny. So yeah, that happens. I guess the next big question, actually, before we get there, what did you think about me before you met me versus when you actually met me? What was that? you know what I mean? So, like, I would tell you all the time, I don't have a lot of expectations coming up into meeting someone. You know what I mean? I don't like to because either way, you're either going to be disappointed or you're going to, like, feel bad about having, like, a bad connotation on, like, someone and who they are beforehand. So I didn't want to have any expectations I knew you were cool

Because at the end of the day Like my boss is one of those people Like who does not take people's shit So like if you have an in with him It automatically gives you brownie points with me But I don't know Like after hearing everything that people have said about you And like even sometimes like trollers

Like you have no idea I don't know What about your friends? reactions because I think that's uh it drives in there's a lot of people that are formerly incarcerated that listed to the show that might have problems dating when they get out and they have to deal with

you know people's family members judging parents friends of that person you know it's it's tough so how did you deal with that with your friends my friends really didn't have a problem with it um i have a couple like they're my friends you know but like those people that are a little bit more distant like a couple of them were just like oh well this happened this happened. And to me, it's just one of those things, like, whatever. The one person, though, that literally backs you, like no other motherfucker in the world is my grandma. When I told her that you were in prison, like, whatever, she was just like, oh, like, whatever. Like, he's older now. Like, he seems like he has his head screwed on street. When I told her what you

did, she was like, fuck the government. Fuck whoever put him in prison. She was just like, he's such a good guy, they did him so dirty, you know. So my family, honestly, had nothing to say. Yeah, and I think like so many people in my situation, just in everyone's situation, they judge someone based off of a news article, you know, and I just think that's wrong. People, your friends, a lot of your friends had never met me before and anyone that did speak negatively or even anyone that, like, you've got a text the other day, which was like a negative comment, that person's never met me before, you know, and that happens to literally everyone that's been incarcerated. And like, I'm so sorry, but that, I wish I could just air him out.

But he was blocked, so I don't really give a fuck. Like, it's always, like, not even to be an asshole. It's the biggest losers that have something to say. You know what I mean? Like, you think that I would be jumping for joy, showcasing you to the whole entire world if I was dating you? I wouldn't be proud. I'd be embarrassed, babe.

So I'm going to give a short synapses. because I got a racist because I'm stupid. Like I got a recipe because I'm the dumbass. So basically what happened was, sorry to tell you this, babe, but we were going to

Stanford, me and two friends, to see this DJ that I had a crush on. So basically, we go to Stanford. We work in the restaurant industry, you know, so like we were there like super late. And then we ended up going straight from work. We stayed there for maybe 45 minutes before the bar closed. I had time for two drinks. I mean, listen, the bartenders knew me. They were probably real strong drinks, but whatever.

Like, we only stayed for two drinks. So coming back home, I was speeding, like, a dumbass, and I got pulled over. And so, officer ends up letting me go. Guess who didn't stop speeding me? And my one defense to that is in the Tesla, don't really feel it. Like, it feels like a spaceship, you're speeding and you don't even realize. But basically, 10 minutes later, I got pulled over again, and it was the same cop, and that's when he was just not taking my shit. So he goes, how much did you have to drink tonight? And I go,

I had two drinks. I was scared, you know, I've never even gotten in trouble in school. You know what I mean? Like, I've never gotten I SSS. I've never been in trouble. That was my first time getting, or I guess technically, that was my second time getting pulled over. But that day was the first time I've ever even been pulled over from the cops to the point where I literally looked at my friend that's sitting next to me and I was like, what do I do? And he's like, pull over. What are you doing? So I, like, I'm just terrified of getting in trouble. I've always been like that. So he does a real sobriety test. He does a couple. The one that got me was the eyes. Yeah, so he got me on the eyes and then he cuffed me he put me in the car he didn't let my friends drive one of my friends

ended up calling his mom by this point it's like three o'clock in the morning that this is happening so one of my friends's picks up my car takes it to um they dropped it off at caroluzis and then i get put in the holding cell whatever um they make me do the breathalizer, or they don't make me do the breathalyzer. Honestly, like, they said it was like my choice. But just the way that they were talking to me and just like manhandling me too, honestly, I can't imagine girls smaller than me getting locked up. That's so scary. Cops are scary. Whatever. So he, um, they end up leaving me in a holding cell. By the time that I, oh, I did the breathalyzer the first time I got a 0.08. The second time was a little bit higher. Um, and then

they let me out on a $21 bail, which people are like, why the fuck do they even lock you up? And I'm like, yeah, exactly. But nonetheless, I was drinking. I did make a big mistake. Someone could have really gotten hurt. And that part I feel really, really, really horribly about,

like, it's just irresponsible, you know. But luckily nothing bad happened. And I won't be driving drunk everywhere again. Yeah, I mean, I think it's crazy. You got a DUI to Tesla. In a car that drives itself? Okay, but like, to be fair, anyone who has a Tesla or has driven a Tesla, if you ever put, like, the auto drive thing on, it's scary as fuck.

It's not like, I don't know, I had a Camry before this. You know what I mean? Like, the Tesla was very, very, very advanced compared to that. So, I don't know, it's just like very different from me. I'm still, to this day, scared to use it. When you got pulled over the first time, do you think you experienced pretty girl privilege? Yeah, my tities were out. No, I don't think it was pretty girl privilege.

I think that he just more felt bad because I was like you could tell that I was visibly terrified. And then the second time I'm just like bitch what do you do? I don't know. I've never been lit off for a speeding ticket ever. So I got to think you might have, you know, you know. I had two gays in the car. I'm just kidding. I didn't.

I'm sorry, Lewis. No, but yeah, so I get let off and like the, I'll pay the bail, whatever. So the crazy part was that by the time that I had gotten off, it's like 6.30 in the morning now. me, Carlos, and Lewis, the three of us were in the car. The three of us had to be at Stans. I had to be there at 8.30 to open. They had to be there at 9 a.m. to open. Guess who still showed up to work on time?

I have no, no, no, no remorse for people who do not show up on time. After I got fucking arrested, after working a full double, stayed up until 6 o'clock in the morning, took an hour nap, showered real quick, and got my ass straight back to work. I have no remorse. What was the conversation with your mom, like when you had to tell her about what happened? So I feel like that's the part that I got like really sneaked on because basically this happened. So this happened on a Friday night or I guess technically Saturday like whatever like late lately. So this happened on a Friday night.

I went to work. I ended up telling my boss like later that day. He's always been like that parental figure for me, you know, like a big brother type. Like some type of like older family member. So I told my boss and he nearly scares me shitless. Like, you know, and you have those, like, or I mean, you probably don't, but you have, like, those days where you just, like, don't even know what your emotions really are. And, like, you go from, like, laughing to, like, crying to, like, anger to whatever. Like, I was going through all the stages of, not grief, but just, I don't know, fear all in one.

and so I tell him and he's just like whatever I'm going to help you out like I'm going to like I have a lawyer for you whatever so he ends up connecting me with his lawyer who put me in touch with someone like at their office and then she's the one that represents me she represented me so I go in that Monday morning to go speak to her so I don't even know what compelled me to ask this question and like the universe was just like I don't know the universe was just like I don't know the universe was just like I don't know the universe was preparing me, I guess, and I had never seen it before, but something compelled me to ask her. I'm like, what are the odds that this is going to be posted, like, on social media? And then she goes, babe right before New Year's, it's definitely getting posted. I go, I haven't told my mom yet. She's like, you better have that conversation when you get home because, like, tonight it'll be posted. So on my way back, this is probably like noon-ish. On my way back, I text my mom, and I'm like, we need to just.

talk when you get home. My mom doesn't get home until like six o'clock. So my mom gets home. She goes upstairs to my room. And she just like has Facebook open on her phone. And she's like, did you get arrested last night? And me freaking the fuck out. I didn't know what to say. I said, no, I got arrested on Friday. And she's like, Letitia, what the fuck? And she's just very much one of those people like I hate to disappoint her because I know how hard she worked in like I've seen her struggle like I've seen just everything that that woman has gone through and like the Brazilian community is just very very cruel like they just judge a lot and I was more upset about the looks she was going to get than the looks that I was going to get in that moment you know and so like I

cried my eyes out. I'm like, I'm so sorry. Like, I'm such a piece of shit. Like, like, I'm the worst. Like, I hate that I disappointed you, you know? And she took it on the fucking chin. She's mom of the fucking century, that woman. Like, I couldn't have been blessed with someone better. But she was like, listen, like, it's okay. Like, we're going to get through this. Like, you're going to be okay. Like, I just wish you talked to me. I wish you were comfortable and that's having these conversations with me. Like, before, like, things like this got exposed because then at least we could nip it like quicker, right? And that was, I don't know, that was one of the scariest things I've ever had to tell my mom,

but she's super cool with it now. Now it's just like a joke in my house. How did it feel to be blasted all over social media, especially from, you know, seeing maybe friends from school people that you grew up with repost that article? It was embarrassing more than anything. you know like I you end up almost hating yourself like it's just one of those things like I can't I'm I worked in the most popular restaurant in Danbury and just every conversation that I would have with a table I was like oh my God they recognize me from the article you know it it was just one of those things like I felt like I couldn't escape it and obviously like I made a big mistake it's it I'm not taking it like I'm not trying to make it a light situation people die from that but it's just one of those things that like I just felt like I ruined my life, you know? Like, I just thought that my life was over.

What have been some of the ramifications from that DUI that you've been faced with? I mean, just cost alone. Like, I guess you don't really hear, or I mean, I guess I don't really know that many people who had DUIs before me. So to me, like, I didn't even really know what to expect. But like by the end of this, I'll probably be like 12, 15,000 down because of this whole situation. You know what I mean? That's the breathalyzer costs a lot of fucking money. Not only and another thing. I was the first EV to get a breathalyzer in the state of Connecticut. Electric vehicle. Oh, yeah. Sorry. I was the first electric vehicle to get a breathalyzer installed in the state of Connecticut. So the original quote for 500 became 1,200 to install it. That fucking

car, especially after the lawyer. So I had to pay for the lawyer. I had to pay to install it. You have to pay, like to recalibrate it every month you have to pay like a lease on it because you don't own the device you lease it so you have to pay for that it's just and then like tickets and and everything else you have to take classes you have to take everything it just drains you at that point like last year I thought that I was like the baddest bitch in the universe you don't understand I was on this high. Like I was like, oh my God, like my life is so great. Like my life is so amazing.

Like I have all these people in my corner or whatever. It like stripped almost everything out of me at that point. And to the point where like I've told you before, but like I had a meltdown the earlier the next year. So it's awful. I don't recommend. Guys, don't drink and drive. Uber.

It costs way less. I mean, there's. you know, you have one drink and it can technically set you over the limit in some cases. Oh, yeah. And that's another thing that, like, now that I've talked to, like, more cops about it and stuff like that, like, everything really just depends on, like, your stature and stuff. And, like, I ended up buying, like, one of those little pocket breathizers. Two beers put me, like, right under the limit. You know what I mean? Like, everyone get a pocket breathlizer, first of all. Or, like, get a D.D. or get an Uber or get a lift, whatever you need to do. I promise if I could go back that night, we were coming from Stanford to Danbury at like 2 o'clock in the morning. So that probably would have been like $150, $200. You know how much I would have rather paid even $500 for a fucking Uber that night than literally the thousands of dollars and the embarrassment and the disappointment and just the critiques. That's not even a word.

Like the criticism of everyone. one. Like I would look at the comments. There was days that I would go into work. And like, I was a manager, you know, so like I'm allowed to have my phone on me. My boss would literally take my phone away and be like, stop looking. You're going to drive yourself crazy. Stop looking. Some people comment on my Facebook being like, you know, she got arrested for a DUI. Like, no, we're dating, but I've never told you this story. I mean, that's one of the reasons why I stop drinking. It's because if you go out to a restaurant, you have one drink, you know, I'm a lightweight. I can be over the limit. I'm not going to get an Uber every time. And I'm a

A mistake like that can ruin everything I've worked for. Yeah, no, it's not fucking worth it. I will never do it again. Now, there's been people on the show that have been charged with manslaughter and, you know, they've killed someone because they've been a similar situation as you driving while intoxicated. How do you feel about that? It makes me feel like shit. Like, I can't believe that I was at a point.

And here's the thing, too. So, like, I thought that I was fine. but also like I don't want to say that I was abusing alcohol like I don't I don't consider myself like where I was in like alcoholism but at the same time like I was partying a lot like I was closing the bar two three o'clock in the morning every weekend like I was still going out with my friends I would drink all my days off you know like at some point like it's borderline abuse and so I have this tolerance where like maybe I don't feel as drunk as my body is telling me that I am But I'm drunk, you know. I just can't imagine, like, even the state that I was in, if I had, like, hit someone else, I don't even think I, like, I can't imagine what that would feel like on my conscious, you know? Now we turned you into a home body.

We've been doing a lot of at-home cooking, staying in, relaxing. It's nice. Like, we've been watching great TV shows. I put up all the recommendations on Facebook. Bangor after bangor, babe. We've been doing real good. The first really good one we watched was all her fault on Peacock. And then the one we were about to finish tonight is The Beast and Me on Netflix really good.

So good. But yeah, we've been loving just like, we've been cooking so much. I miss that because even I'd say like probably in like maybe December or January, I stopped cooking and I just started eating out all the time. And then then when I got back from doing the Beast video, I was, you know, eating out all the time, going out all the time. And then I was like, you know, this one, it gets expensive. and too it's just like every time you go out it's like three or four hours it's like an ordeal I love just being at home and I can edit in between I can chill and just relax and be in loungeware I only really want to go out unless it's like a meeting or you know something productive

oh I love being home yeah I'd never thought that I would love I would be this much of a home body and like I remember it's so funny that you say that because it's so funny when like I had just moved in and I ended up like fully moving in even though I was basically moved in before that but I ended up fully moving in while you guys were away. You guys were in Arkansas. And I remember like opening the cabinets, like, what do I need to get from the grocery store? And I'm, I'm like, oh, okay, everything, all of the basics. So it was just like so funny where like you, I could just tell about your apartment that like you guys were never there. Yeah, we didn't cook at all, you know? And Maddie Ice, poor Maddie Ice was living off ramen noodles. So that's how it's gone. But it's cool.

Now we're cooking, we're grocery shopping. We're saving money. We have breakfast, everyone together. Yeah, because we've been going boxing every morning or three days a week. And everything is just good. Like, it's fun. Like, we're enjoying life and into it. And even when, like, my interview schedule is, like, every day. So it's a nice one.

That was like the second episode I recorded when I got back. That was really good, the Ryan Kamada episode. He was my first ever judge on the show and he went to federal prison. You know what I mean? I was in handcuffs once. Like, I just think that, I don't know. Like, I didn't really go through, like, the full experience the way that, like, some people do. You know what I mean? I think that I've always been really, really interested in stories like that. But it does make me feel bad, especially, like, when people go through the same, like, similar situation. where people like turn their back on them, whatever.

Like I definitely feel that extra hard whenever I hear it, you know? Did you ever feel like you would be in that situation before? Never in my life. It doesn't discriminate the criminal justice system. No, it does not. No, it does not. It could happen to anyone. And like that's the thing too, right?

And I feel like in both of our situations, like we just got made an example out of. You know what I mean? Like, I don't think that, I mean, listen, I should have spent. I wasn't squirving or anything like I just shouldn't have spent that night and I shouldn't have drank and drove and whatever the past is the past but at the same time like I didn't think that I was doing anything necessarily wrong because I didn't feel it you know what I mean at the time next question is what's to come in the future for the podcast so you know constantly making changes as you guys probably seen I've added like an intro where I have like exciting epipy

from the episode so you can see what you're going to expect. Changed up my studio in here. We are looking at like new studio space to maybe evolve into that that's on the horizon for 2026. So we're going to use the prison cell mostly for, you know, pretty much that, just filming skits here and there with different guests and also doing the cooking stuff, making meals because that's fun. Like I want different variations of it. So that's kind of what's on the horizon.

Someone asked, would you be supportive and wait if I became incarcerated when we were together or even in the past if you were with me before I went to prison? I mean, honestly, from the stories that you're dead and, like, everyone around you

has told you, I wouldn't be with you. You were an asshole in the past, I mean. I don't know. I think as of right now, if you got locked up tomorrow, I mean, listen, babe, I'm going to stick it out as long as I can. Like, I love you. But at the end of the end of the end of it. No, that's not what it is. But like, let's say you're going to be in there for 25 years, like no chance of going in out or any earlier, no chance of probation. Like, it's 25 years of my life. I don't have babies yet, babe. I wouldn't let you wait, too. I think it's selfish to make the person wait. Yeah, you know how much I want to be a mom. Why did you choose me? And what are the plans for the future with me?

I think you're the first person who's made me lock in as... Get the cuffs. Yeah, a little of the cuffs. No, but you're the first person who's like really inspired me. And I mean, your dad said it today. Like we get along so great because we're both so annoying. Yeah, so people don't get to like really see like the person. I think that's why I like the Mr. Bees video because I got to see the funny side of me and my personality.

But normally just super serious interviews. But you get to see like a different side of me all the time. You're like your friends, you tell me this all the time. They'll say, be like, is he like, what's he like? Because they're used to just seeing me on screen asking like a question. And that's why the skits are funny because it brings out the funny side. But you're like, yeah, he's like silly. Yeah, you're so silly.

I remember when that Mr. Beast video came out. We had already been dating for a little bit. And I still had a couple friends that hadn't met you yet. And everyone was like, oh, my God. Like, I didn't realize he was like that. I was like, did you guys really think that I would be with someone that like didn't make me laugh? Like, what? Yeah, I have a silly side to me.

Like, I'm just silly goofy. It's fun, you know? That's why I think that's how splits it up too, like doing like the cooking stuff or skits or even just the Mr. Beast thing was a breath of fresh air to do something different. because I was doing serious episodes all the time. He had a couple problems with police, like police brutality in New York. And he talked about his experience in the criminal justice system. And then at the end of it, like the last 20 minutes, he's going on this big rant about how all cops are bad, you know, just preaching that and just like getting really. visibly heated. And at the end of it, I'm like, listen, man, we, like, we have a lot of law enforcement on the show. You had a bad experience. It doesn't make all cops bad. I'm actually very supportive of law enforcement. We've been doing a ton of law enforcement episodes lately, and I love that. They respect the show. I respect them. But he just went off on a tangent, and it was so bad that when he got out of the studio, my dad had to, like, talk him down because he was let,

my dad was in the studio listening and just calmed him down. And he didn't do anything to me, but that was like the most heated, I felt with a guest. come to find out a few weeks later, or actually months later, because I think I was during the Mr. Beast thing and I saw it when I got back, he was a guy that slashed a few court security guards with a knife in New York City at a courthouse. And they have them all like hog tied up, escorting them out. That's crazy. Fucking crazy. I mean, people ask me all the time, like, do you ever feel in danger interviewing these people? And I've interviewed murderers.

I've interviewed, like, serious crimes. And I think, I don't think those individuals are coming to hurt me. I think they could get heated in the moment, but I'm here to be respectful. That's why I don't judge. Like, people are in the comments like, oh, you know, Ian, you should be calling these people out, you know, give feedback or pushback. I'm like, one, I want to keep it neutral. I want to give them a safe place. I let the audience to decide if the person's telling the truth or not or form their opinion.

That's my reputation. That's what I want to do. And I'm not confrontational. I'm not going to be like, you're full of shit, you know, I'm just not going to do that. But finding out about that afterwards, that was kind of scary, you know. But I don't think someone's going to book a sit down with me two or three months in advance just to come to hurt me. And I stay very neutral. I don't get involved in politics.

I don't get involved in any, you know, hot topics. I just want people to have a safe place. I'm friendly with everyone. I don't judge people. I just want to let them tell their story. So to me, that's the most important thing. Yeah. Like, we've talked about it before where, like, listen, I want to marry you, you know?

Like, I see, like, this in the long run and stuff. And, like, I've never had a bad experience with any of your guests. Honestly, everyone that I've met and, like, gotten friendly with, like, the JDs and the Johnny Barts and, like, those people. Like, I love them, you know. Like, they're great people, but there's some element of the show that it would just scare the shit out. Like we were talking about it the other day. Like, what if we just got like a house where we could just record at? And like my podcast is one thing.

But like your podcast scares me just a little bit. Like when we have kiddos running around, like if something like that happened, I'd be terrified. Next question. Given the current political environment, it'd be interested in how inmates view politics. Honestly, when I was in prison, I haven't been in prison since, you know, 2019. But when I was in prison during the election, people are interested. I think they were interested just, you know, they didn't really necessarily pick a side. I think they were surprised that Hillary had lost. I remember being there for election night and they're surprised Trump won. But I will say most of the inmates were like cheering for Trump. I think because he's the underdog. I think inmates are just going to go for whoever the underdog is. And I think they supported him even more when he did become a felon and just all the criminal justice acts he passed. But other than that, I mean, maybe they gamble on it and stuff. but they're not, I never seen anyone have a heated debate about politics as I, unless they're

maybe like an old head, like an older guy, older maybe fraud guy, you know, kind of debate politics, but not to the level of what people do out here on, I see people bash people over politics, you know, on social media. You don't really see that in prison. Maybe a good debate, but not to that level. You see more stuff about sports. You know, I think probably sports causes more fights in prison or gambling than politics. Um, do I ever plan on going back to prison to chill with the homies? Don't plan on going back to prison like for a crime, but I do go into prisons all the time to speak. I volunteer my time. Uh, if there's any law enforcement officers, wardens or

what prison officials, probation officers that want me to speak, just reach out. We have a couple scheduled in Connecticut and I kind of go all over wherever someone, you know, wants me to speak in, which is fun. And I kind of just share my story and inspire hope. Um, someone asked what you thought about me leaving to go to do Mr. Beast for 100 days. Well, we had met before, but we weren't dating or anything. And then, you know, we really got together in July. So it's been, you know, almost five months now. But if I did get offered to go again, how would you feel about that? I mean, like, I don't know. I guess like I've grown such as this attachment to you,

which, like, I just think it would be weird if you weren't here, you know? But at the end of the day, like, I understand it's such a good opportunity, you know, like, especially being on this platform, like, you get so much, like, this new audience. And, like, I remember telling you, like, my little cousin when I told him that you went on a Mr. Beast episode was like, what the hell? Like, your boyfriend was on Mr. Beast? I'm like, yeah, but I don't know. I, I would definitely be upset, but at the end of the day, you got to do what you got to do. Um, next question. Well, actually, in addition to that, I don't, like, making that decision to go on Mr. Beast, it's all, like, in the moment thing. Like, did I have enough episodes, which I talked about, you know, did, like, everything.

I looked at everything. So I think if I had a girlfriend, I don't think I would have went. And also, that would have been used against me even more, like, on day 50 for the challenge and stuff. That would have been hard. So it's all about, like, perspective in the moment. Timings everything. You know, we met at the perfect time. that opportunity came about at the perfect time.

So that's just, that's everything. Yeah. How do you put up with me and Maddie Ice? I bash both of you. No, it really is like, like obviously we're dating, you know? Like obviously we're in a romantic relationship. So it's a little different between you and I than it is for like me and Matt. But at the end of the day, like when we're home, it really just feels like I said.

Most I don't even know what word to describe you. You, I mean, listen, Matt is a handful. Like, Matt is definitely a handful. But I think that our just like way of being is a little bit more similar than you and I's. And I don't know. You just roll with the punches, honestly.

Listen, I hate being sick, okay? When I'm sick, I'm miserable. I shut down. So before, when I was sick, I used to always push through and do the interview. now I have to move them. I want to show up and people are coming out of their way. Like luckily this year, like when I've been sick the last few times in the last few months,

it was guests coming locally. So I was able to just push it. But before, like I still went on with the episodes, especially if they're traveling. But it's like I want to give my best when, you know, they're coming to do an interview. But I'm miserable when I'm sick. And I got sick a lot when I got back. But now, you know, I think no drinking has been huge for not getting sick. I think it just weakens.

We drink so much this summer. We're just having fun, you know, and I just feel a lot better. I don't have that fog. I even, you know, I quit energy drinks too. I'm going to energy drink in like almost two weeks. Oh, wow. I've just been doing the coffee, you know. So I don't know.

I just been feeling a lot better in that sense. Now the only thing I'm going to tune down on the sweets. So I'm working on that. But otherwise, you know, we're eating healthy, which brings us to our next question is, what is your favorite food and who is the better cook? I think that we cook differently. I think you're definitely better at breakfast than I am. No, I love the way you cook breakfast.

Really? Yeah, the way you cook breakfast today. But I love the way you cook rice. It reminds me of like I had a Spanish bunkmate. Not saying you're Spanish, but I had a Spanish bug bait that would always make rice. And the Latinas make the rice all the same. You know, it's so good. Like the way you guys season it.

And it's just, I don't know, it's so good. I can't make it like that. So it's really tasty. Yeah, but I love the way you make breakfast. The eggs are always so fluffy, so good. I learned to just mix the butter in there. And we put up like a post about like someone drop recipes. And I think I love Facebook.

I mean, I think it's definitely a little, I don't know, but sometimes it's just like, to me, you're just, you're Ian, you know, like, you're my little Biggie Boo. Like, you're, you're just my boyfriend, you know? And then, like, we'll go out in public, like, we'll go to the arcade and someone's like, oh my God, like, giant fan. Or we'll go to the fucking Big E with 500 million people or however the fuck many. Obviously not 500 million. But, Like, there's so many people there, and someone will literally, like, follow you around just to, like, get the nerd, like, get just to get the courage to be like, hey, like, a big fan of this show, you know?

So that's something that I've never experienced before. So I think it's definitely a little weird. But at the same time, like, I understand your platform. Like, I see how many views you get. I see how many likes you get. I see how many followers you have, you know? So it comes to the territory, I guess. It's just weird.

Yeah, guys, if you see me out in public, come say hi. You know, I know some people are shy, but I always like it. I'll never not, you know, interact with you or whatnot. It's enjoyable, you know? Our first date, we went to dinner and then we went to the arcade. And, like, someone's, like, staring you down. And I hate to be that person. Like, I really hate to say this.

But, like, usually, like, when I've gone on other dates, if someone's staring like that, it's, that. It's not a good thing. No, no, it's either not a good thing or it's not, like, directed towards the man. Usually, I feel like a lot of times it's directed towards the girl. And, like, that was one time that I was just like, I don't think this guy is looking at me. Like, I don't think this is about me right now.

And it was 100% about you. And you approached it. Like, I remember coming out of that date and just being, like, the way that you, like, talk to people is just so nuts to me. because you're just so good at it. You know, to treat everyone with respect, you know. You make people so comfortable. Like, you're such a, you're such an interviewer, honestly.

Yeah, we'll be out at dinner. Like we had dinner with, you know, Anthony R. A lot of that episode will be out by now. And, you know, his friend with him, who's like, a heavy hit her ex-mob guy is like, what are you, like a Fed? I'm like, and then Anthony's like, you know, he gets away with asking, like, inappropriate kind of questions because he's just like sitting there smiling. I don't mean any harm.

I'm just like, you know, You know, it's just what it is. If I go out to dinner with you, I'm going to start asking you questions because that's just what I know how to do and I disarm the person. I think that's why this has worked. People get comfortable. Like, it's an experience. You walk in, you see the place, the hospitality. And we just start chatting and it's a conversation.

So, like, when I was going on dates and stuff like that's what I would do, I would just interview the person because that's what I do. You know, it's just a conversation. Did you interview me? Probably. I mean, we talked. I asked you questions. You know, it's like an interview in a way, you know? So, and that's how you get, but I think it's just disarming the person and making them comfortable.

But years ago, I was never like that. And I'm a shy person, but now I'm less shy. That's why I like having Matt around because he's a guy that'll go up, ask a question and stuff and be more direct. I normally have to have that person approach me where there would be like an icebreaker. But like, I still get nervous with like when there's a bigger guest that comes and stuff. I think I was at least nervous around George Santos episode will be out already around him. and he's a big name too, you know,

but this was the first interview where I wasn't nervous. But like when you have bigger people like Teresa or, you know, Farah or any of the bigger names we're getting, it is a little nerve-wracking, but now I'm being more comfortable. But, you know, it's cool what's going on and what I do and everything. Yeah, I think that to me, like,

we'll even, like, you guys will start going on this tangent about this actor and this person and that person. Like, I think that, like, my generation as a whole, like, didn't, like, doesn't really focus too much on these bigger names. So I think it helps me a little bit in that aspect. But like, honestly, you hear, like, a person have a conversation and they're in front of you, something about it to me.

It just, like, makes them feel like such a real person that, like, Bobby Schmerdo was talking to me. And I'm just like, oh, my God, what is wrong with you? It's so crazy, like, where life takes you. Like, if teenage me saw who I was with now and interviewing, you know, like, I wanted to book Bobby Shmerda at the. club when I was a promoter, you know, and now I got to interview him and even like sitting across from Teresa who I saw going through her legal process, you know, in the news or, you know, even

George Santos seeing that happen a year ago and then interviewing. I never thought I interview these people. It's just, it's so crazy. Farah from teen mom, you know, watching that as a kid. Oh my gosh. It's only going to get bigger. And it's so funny to me too because like it's one of those things like obviously like I watched the Real Housewives and and like I listened to Bobby. Shmurdo when I was younger and like I know who George Santos is and like Farrah I was the biggest teen mom fan ever you know it's just so funny when like if I'm not here you'll just have them like FaceTime me and I'm like oh my god what is my life right now it's just so funny to like you're in this space and that just like casual like Farrah just casually walks in you know it's so crazy to me

Yeah, I think your friends find it interesting, too. They do. They're like, what the fuck? Will the episode that we're recording California be out yet or no? No, won't be out yet. Okay, so I won't say. Yeah, this comes out before. But, like, the person we're meeting in California, what the fuck?
