Browns and Spencer, well, I think I know the biggest story in Cleveland when it comes to these
Browns. Maybe I'm way off right now. Maybe I'm way off. Maybe it's about winning the game or
who knows, maybe it's about coaching searches. But what is the biggest story right now is we are just
days away from round two of the Battle of Ohio? Yeah, you know, it's kind of funny because you're
alluding to it. I think you're right that it is Miles Garrett's pursuit of the sack record.
in most years, you know, if this wasn't a thing that was possible,
I think we would be talking more heavily about,
hey, what's going to happen to Kevin Siffansky on the other side of this game?
Is he fired within four hours of the game or do they wait until Monday morning
or is he just coming back?
And, you know, is Shador Sanders the, the for sure quarterback for this team in 2026?
And those are still two major storylines for this team as the season kind of concludes here
that they're going to have to sort of provide answers to throughout the offseason.
But yes, I do think that from a matchup standpoint, from an on-the-field standpoint,
the first thing everyone's talking about is Miles Garrett's pursuit of this sack record
and trying to get it done in Week 18, which I know is going to come with an asterisk for a lot of people if he does,
because there's Michael Strayhan who did it in 16 games.
There's T.J. Watt who did it in 15 games, I believe it was, because he was injured for one.
And Miles is now trying to get it done with sort of that extra game on the schedule.
I do think, though, on the heels of what the Steelers did last week,
which it felt like they were more worried about Miles getting the sack record
than trying to run like a competent offense at times,
it does feel like a matchup with the Bengals,
which has always seemed to go in Miles Garrett's favor.
He's got in he's sacked Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson more than any other
quarterbacks that he's played.
Thanks for that. Appreciate it.
It is a situation where maybe he can actually get this thing done
and not only get it done because the only way he can go out now,
especially people talking about like does it have an asterisk is getting multiple sacks like he needs to now
shatter the record not just get like one and be like all right i got a half sack more than these other guys
if he gets like two or three i think that's the ultimate send off that he can sort of finish this season
on for the browns yeah i appreciate you painting that picture because it's the picture i've thought of
really from the moment the bengals got eliminated and look this this bengal's offense is cooking
i just wrote a story and i'll pull up the numbers as we record here
It's wild to look at this offense and in how they've performed over the past.
They've outscored opponents 82 to 35 over the past two games.
And I get it.
It's the Dolphins and the Cardinals.
Still NFL teams.
Joe Burrow, 4963 for 614 yards.
It's a 77% completion percentage, six touchdowns, no interceptions.
And yet I'm going into this game and I'm thinking of one, Miles Garrett, who Zach Taylor calls the best defensive player on the planet.
I agree with him.
Two, I agree that the Browns have been a thorn.
Miles Garrett specifically is obviously a big reason why.
Just a thorn in the side of this Bengals offense.
And so if there was ever a game one, you could go one side and say,
don't play Joe Burrow.
And I think there's a real argument there.
That goes out the door because we know that's happening.
He's going to play.
The other one is, well, you have something to prove Bengals offense
after just squeaking by Joe Flacco in the Browns week one.
17 to 16 and one of the ugliest games you'll ever see where it was just ugly on on both sides and
really the browns had every chance of winning that game because of their defense it's uh there there is
something here where it's like all right well if they are playing everyone i want to see this offense
i want to see zach taylor i want to see these guys be able to go up against miles garrett and mason graham
and that defense so front and really that entire defense and have success so that that's
where I'm at. I think that's the biggest storyline for me is okay, well, we all know about the
sack record. Everybody's going to be thinking about it, talking about it, Joe's going to get asked
about it on Wednesday. Like all these things are going to happen. What does this revamped Bengals
offensive line that's been pretty good? How did they handle Miles? And then we know he's an alien.
Does he wreck the game on record breaking day and get not one, not two, not three, not four? Does
that happen? Or on the other side,
can this Bengals offense to operate the way it's done over the past few weeks
and put up 30 plus points and find a way for their third straight win.
Yeah, you know, it's funny.
As you talked through that, I was thinking about the quote from Mike Tomlin on Tuesday this week,
where he was reflecting a little bit on the loss of the Browns this past weekend.
And he said flatly, like, of any unit, offense or defense in this division,
he said the Brown's defense is number one with a bullet.
Like that that unit is the best unit that any team in this division boasts on either side of the ball.
And what I think it's interesting is at least as far as he said that, he did.
And as far as this year is concerned, what I think is interesting about that line is he's probably right to an extent.
Like there's a very valid case we made that the bronze defense is the best unit in this division.
But I think the units are going up against this weekend in the Bengals offense.
if it's not the if it's not number one across the board for a unit from a unit standpoint,
I think the Bengals do have the best offense in the division,
which is funny because these are the two teams that are third and fourth in the division overall
and they have the two best units arguably in this division.
So I find that kind of interesting.
And that's the collision course that we're kind of getting here.
It's Joe Burrough versus Kyle's Gary, yes,
but it's a really good Brown's defense against an elite, you know,
Bengals' offense with so many weapons to account for.
and who kind of comes out on top to finish the season with a win.
Yeah, it's a really good point.
And I want to note now, Mike Tomlin saw Joe Flacco twice.
And so he may forget.
He may forget.
Like the Browns may have the Bengals number a little bit as far as defensively being able to slow them down.
But the Steelers sure is heck no.
When it comes to Joe Burrow and company.
So, yeah, I think, man, that's an interesting.
quote, I agree they're probably the two best units.
You combine the Ohio teams and you have the best team in the NFL, right?
I think that's what makes this interesting.
Is the sack record itself, I wouldn't put an asterisk by it because Miles Garrett is better.
Man, Bengals fans are going to hate this.
Better than Michael Strehan.
I was there.
I remember watching the sack record happen.
Watch that.
He's better than T.J. Watts.
Steelers fans are going to hate it, but guess what?
It's really not close.
it's really not close
like even before this season it's not
like if you asked
objective NFL personnel
which I cover the Bengals guess who I can ask
they don't have a dog in the fight between T.J. Watt
and Miles Garrett pretty easy for me to find
objective people when it comes to that
NFL people believe that Miles Garrett
is just on another level
and I do too so yeah I think that
go ahead. I was going to say what's funny about that too
is like even a few years ago
probably before Miles won defensive player
of the year I might have said TJ
if you asked me, like, who would you take out of these two?
There was a point where I would have taken T.J.
And the reason was, James, because it seemed like T.J. was always making, like, the game-changing play in the biggest moments.
Like, I think that was very true about him, like, early on his career.
And Miles didn't have as many of those moments.
But I think probably around, like, 2022.
And then obviously, in 2023, Miles wins the, the defensive player of the year award.
The last three to four years, I've changed that, that perspective of a,
totally and it is without question like miles is it and the fact that he's also he's gotten
older and he's gotten better it seems and tj's kind of had some ups and downs you know there were
some stats last year people were throwing out there about like his play decline and then this
year he's been sort of in and out of line of some things with the injuries so yeah i think that's
very true i we've now turned this into like a uh a stealers and and brown's crossover talking
about these two guys but um it is the biggest storyline today other than the things that you laid out
like what happens with Kevin Sofansky on Monday.
And I actually wonder like on the flip side of things for your,
from your guy's angle and this is something we can get into,
what happens with Zach Taylor on Monday?
Is he totally safe in all this after the bank was put up another disappointing season?
So I think that kind of is another interesting storyline from this one for sure.
Yeah, it is.
And it's one that we can address.
We can also get into some key matchups.
How do they slow down Miles Garrett?
I'll give Steelers fans a little more fodder.
Joe Burrow, better than Big Ben.
That's right.
We'll talk more about this matchup on Sunday coming up next.

All right, Spencer.
Let's continue the conversation here.
Zach Taylor's safe.
he will be back next year. That's happening. I think there are a lot of people we talked about it earlier
in the week would want him out and whether or not I would or not. I lean towards yes for sure,
but I know he's coming back. And so it's just kind of like, all right, I do think it's more up in the air in
Cleveland. What say you? You think Kevin Stefanski's coaching the Browns in a week? Yeah. So I find this
to be a fascinating argument and you obviously spent some, or a conversation and you obviously
spent some time in Cleveland so you know how unpredictable, you know, that the Haslums can be
as an ownership group in terms of the decisions that they make. And I want to be clear, like,
I think Jimmy Haslam has really tried recently to sort of dispel the notion that he makes
these gut reaction, emotional decisions, and that one game here or there isn't going to, like,
sway his decision one way or another. And, but at the same time, I think he's looking for a reason
to keep this thing intact, because we know what he said in the offseason.
we know he called the Deshaun thing of swing and a miss and that he talks about very glowingly this regime and that he trusts these guys and he thinks the right people are in place.
So if that's true, like I think he wants a reason to keep them, but I think it's hard to deny that there are significant issues with this roster and there's significant issues with this team right now that probably means somebody or something needs to change here.
Now, I subscribe to the idea that if you move on from Kevin Stefansky, I don't think that.
it's fair to just stop there. I think it's either you keep them both and you sort of go against
what all the fans, not all the fan base, but what a lot of the fan base is saying should happen,
which is, you know, get rid of Stafansky, I'm done. You either keep both and sort of digging and say,
guys, we're going to see this through. I believe in these guys. And, you know, that might be
an unpopular opinion, but it's your opinion and you're the owner of the team. So you get final say.
Or I think you have to move on from both. Because to me, yes, there was, there's been issues this
year. And I look around this league and I see teams that are limited in terms of the resources that
they have on a roster and they're finding ways to win football games more so than the Browns are.
And listen, like, there's other issues. Special teams has been brutal. And week over week,
it's like we got to correct these things and then they're not getting corrected. I don't know
where you probably start blame there with like the special teams coordinator, Bobaventrown,
but it also goes to the top. It's the head coach, right? Like those things just aren't getting
better. So there's been issues from that standpoint. But I don't know how it all falls on Kevin
Stfansky's lap either when he also has been given sort of bad ingredients here to put this
recipe together and that starts with the GM and the person who's building the roster.
So to me it's either all or nothing.
There's no like splitting the difference here and getting rid of one and keeping the other.
But I honestly think that's what could play out either the hours after Sunday's matchup against
the Bengals here or come Monday morning when they decide ultimately to make a change.
We'll see.
And maybe the thing that saves Andrew Barry is this draft class that he does.
just had. But that's my stance on it is like, I think it's probably time to change something.
And if you're going to change one thing, it probably has to be both because I think it's all
kind of gotten rotten to this point. Well, the problem is, is if you do one, not the other,
than a year from now, if things don't go well. Yeah. And then you know, then you're doing the other.
And we've seen that. Brian Cowahan, former Bengals offensive coordinator that happened to him in
Tennessee. The GM gets fired one year after he's there. It's over, man. Like the moment that
happen. I was like, man, he's on the hot seat right now. And obviously they had the number one pick
last year. And that's just how the NFL works. And it can, it is a cold business if you don't win.
Look, I, if I'm the Browns, I don't think Kevin Stefansky's earned another quarterback.
Put it that way. And so if you're going and getting number one or number two, like if you're
trading that Jacksonville pick and another pick and doing that, I don't know if I'm handing him to
Kevin Stefanski. If you are, then you do got to be all in. It can't just be a one-year,
thing where because then it's the Baker thing where you have one quarterback coach or one and then
it's another and then it's another and suddenly he's in year three and he's had three different
systems and all of the things that that happened with with Baker which obviously was a good
pick and he's a good quarterback.
And this is why this is why James like this game I talked about Jimmy Azam trying to make like
the gut reaction decisions but like if the Browns finished this season with two straight
wins over division rivals. He may add a comment during training camp about like it needs to be more
than three wins this year. How literally you want to take that? Like, hey, it's four wins enough.
It's five wins enough. I get it. But, you know, like that that would be sort of a stronger finish to
the season where it's like, hey, these guys are still playing for this coach. And maybe that's enough
to sort of convince him to keep everybody around, even if that goes against, you know, the prevailing
maybe thoughts here in Cleveland that they should do that and it just means they're all in the hot seat next year.
So that's one of the interesting sort of narratives and backdrops to all this this weekend is, you know,
does Kevin Savansky have any chance of saving his job?
Because it does sound like at the very least, that's very much on the table after Sunday.
Yeah.
And by the way, if you beat Joe Burrow after beating the Steelers, when the Steelers got a win to clinch the division and had every reason to win,
it's a pretty good couple of weeks if you're going to end things.
So yeah, I think that that's it.
And the matchups in this one, let's just quickly get to those.
I mean, it does start, it starts with Joe Burrow and Miles Garrett,
how the Bengals can try to keep Joe Burrow upright,
give Miles Garrett all the attention that he deserves and earns.
And can Joe get the ball out quick enough?
Can these weapons get open so he's getting the ball out
to not let 95 wreck the game?
I think that's such a huge factor here in what happens in the outcome.
Because if you're painting the path to the Brown's winning,
it starts there
and then there's a few other things that happen
but it really starts there
and if you're painting a path for the Bengals
to control this game from the jump
while it's putting Joe Burrow in position
to do what he's done over the past couple of weeks
where he's had time and he's thrown from a clean pocket
and even if he's got to get it out a little quicker this week
I think he'd be more than willing to do that
if it means staying upright.
Yeah and honestly you know I think the Steelers
probably provided a little bit of a blueprint of that
this past weekend in terms of getting the ball quickly.
Now, you got to make better decisions than Air Rogers did.
He was trying to throw fourth and one fades to, you know, Scotty Miller in the end zone for whatever reason.
And so I don't know that he was necessarily making the right plays.
But his priority was, I'm getting rid of this ball so Miles Garrett doesn't have a chance to wreck it.
And we know that that's what Joe Burroughs sort of strives to do.
It still has led to a lot of sacks over the years of Miles kind of getting to him.
But certainly, like, you know, week over week, I probably sound like a broken record to those who listen to these crossovers.
because I do start every single one of these
matchup conversations with,
it's always about Miles Garrett on the Brown side of things
and how the opposing team is going to sort of,
you know,
buck against them and try to slow him down.
And that's what every week kind of becomes for the Browns anyway
because he's obviously their best player.
I think on the opposite side of things,
I'm fascinated to see,
you know, Shador Sanders gets kind of one last hurrah here in 2025
to try to convince the Browns,
hey, I'm the guy you can bank on as,
the starting quarterback for this team in 2026. He's had a six game stretch years. This will make
seven straight games where he started under center. And against the Bengals defense that, you know,
we know has been just really dreadful this year. He's going to have some opportunities to make
some plays. Can he do enough of those in out duel maybe a Joe Burrow? That's the big question.
I think everybody has. Can he send this thing into the offseason on like a really, really high
note where he puts up this great passing game, doesn't turn the ball over at all, and
leads the Browns to a win, or at least a competitive game to end the season. I think that's what
he's kind of looking to accomplish here. And it's going to be interesting too, because, you know,
this is the Bengals' first time going against Shador Sanders. They obviously face Joe Flacco,
who's now on the opposite team this week in week one. They didn't get a chance to play
Dylan Gabriel at all. And now they get to see Shudor Sanders for the first time. So how do the
Bengals try to maybe confuse him or show him some different things?
that he hasn't seen just yet or attack him
and how does Shador Sanders come out and
perform against a Bengals
defense that certainly is susceptible to some bigger plays.
Yeah, it's
the Bengals defense has been better,
but to your point, they're
far from perfect. And if
you're the Browns, you want to establish the run, that was a
big thing that didn't happen for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals couldn't get the run game going.
The Bengals got out to an early lead.
They had to throw it and
it just kind of snowballed
very quickly.
This Bengals defense has been opportunistic in recent weeks, and they've forced some
turnovers, and they've been able to do that.
And so if they can do that early, I think that would be big.
But yeah, Shador, has he done, well, we'll get to this on the other side.
I have a question for you about Shador and what you think when it comes to his future.
Will the Bengals be seeing Shador Sanders under center, not just Sunday, but next season.
We'll get to that question and much, much more coming up next.
Today's show is brought to you by prize picks.
Prize picks is daily fantasy the way it should be.
Look, whether you're starting a new routine with a new year,
jumping into player projections for the first time,
or trying something new, well, it's perfect for you.
I'm telling you right now, prize picks is awesome, and here's why.
It's daily fantasy and it's player projections.
So maybe you think that Shador Sanders is going to carve up the Bengals defense on Sunday.
Well, you can pick his prize picks projection to throw for more than his passing yards or more than his passing touchdowns.
And combine that with Joe Burrow or Miles Garrett.
And you get the point here.
Price picks is the Daily Fantasy app that makes watching sports even more exciting by letting you build lineups based on player projections.
There's no drafts.
There's no waiting.
Just pick more or less and play your way.
It takes less than 60 seconds to set a lineup.
And they have a new early payouts feature.
It's a game changer.
If your player starts hot, you can cash out before the game ends.

Let's go locked on NFL to get $50 in lineups.
After you play your first $5 lineup prize picks, it's good to be right.
All right, Spencer, real quick on Chador Sanders.
How realistic do you think it is that he's their starting quarterback week one next season?
It's a great question.
I don't know if we want to do this in like percentages necessarily,
but what I would say is this.
I think right now, especially given what last week's win over the Steelers does
for the draft order, for where the bronze kind of fall in the draft order at this point.
Right now they'd pick sixth.
They can't go any lower or higher, depending on how you look at it than seventh.
And they could get as high as two if everybody in front of them,
except the Raiders, it doesn't matter, they can't catch the Raiders.
But if everybody in front of them wins this weekend, then, yeah, then they would move up.
They could still be the number two pick.
still be in position to draft a quarterback.
But because of where they are,
I'm guessing they probably end up in the top five,
but not in position to maybe get a quarterback.
And unless they trade up,
and so understanding that,
like,
it does feel like right now plan A is probably,
all right.
Well,
and there's a lot that kind of goes into this too,
because if they do clean house
and its GM and coach are gone,
that all bets are off then.
I think then,
like,
a new staff's going to come in
and they're going to decide
if they think Shador Sanders is worth a damn or not,
and more than likely it probably decide we're going to do our own thing.
So that's maybe the kicker here.
But if it's at least one person from this regime is still here,
if Andrew Berry is still here on Monday,
I think that plan A probably is.
Yeah, let's roll it.
Let's roll Shador Sanders out there and at least haven't been an open competition for the job.
I think it's probably him in an open competition against, I don't know,
a Mac Jones, Deshaun Watson still is probably going to be here on the roster.
Maybe they try that for another time.
Or they at least make a thing for a third.
time. We'll see. But to me, that feels like probably what they end up doing because I just don't know
if it's going to be in their in their purview to want to trade up and try to get one of the
quarterbacks in this class unless they fall in love with one. That's what has to be determined
during the pre-draft process, of course. But I think right now I'm inclined to believe as long as
somebody from this current regime is still here, that Shador Sanders will still be here with a chance
to compete for the starting job. Shador Sanders for Kyla Murray, who says no, don't answer it. That is
free content for you to dive into it later.
Look, this Bengals team, they're trying to win three straight.
And first things first, you've got to stop Miles Garrett and slow him down.
I think he's going to get the sack record.
I've kind of already let my mind go there and allow that to happen.
So anytime that gets brought up, I'm trying to prepare a lot on Bengals, listeners,
and viewers for that.
Anytime it gets brought up, it's going to show Miles sacking Joe Bro.
If they somehow don't let that happen, good on them.
but it's just a tough ask to do.
Obviously, this Bengals team, they're going to play their offense.
They're going to try to win this game.
There's not going to be questions of, were you more worried about Miles Garrett's sack record than them trying to win?
No, they're going to go out there and try to win.
And I know Joe Burrow feels that way.
Obviously, Zach Taylor feels that way.
So they're going to have to slow down Miles Garrett.
And then it's get these weapons in space like they have.
Jamar Chase continues to have a great year over 1,300 yards, had two touchdowns last week.
Higgins for his second straight year. He's just a third Bengals receiver in team history,
joining Carl Pickens and AJ Green to have double-digit touchdowns in back-to-back years.
If Jamar had three touchdowns Sunday, he would join him. I'm not sure that's realistic
against the Browns. But you never know, not with Jamar Chase. You never know. So this
offense, they're going to have to put up points early, get off to a quick start, try to get a
lead. I think that's big. And then defensively, be opportunistic. Don't let Chodor
Sanders get into a groove like he did against the Titans where he's had his best game is most
productive game. And you also don't want him to be, I mean, 17 of 23. I get it.
Two of those were interceptions. But that's pretty efficient. And if he's efficient like that,
that's going to go a long way, especially with the Bengals tackling issues that they've had.
Yeah. Listen, I think you're right where everything sort of starts up front and with the Bengals
ability to contain or limit Miles Garrett's ability to impact this game because we know the
Bengals are going to want to throw the football, of course.
I think on that defense side of the ball, though, too, for the Browns, how do they best
limit the damage from Jamar Chase and T. Higgins in this game?
Because both those guys are phenomenal receivers.
We know that.
And, you know, we talked about this being the first time Shador Sanders gets to face the Bengals.
This is also the Bengals first time facing Tyson Campbell opposite of Denzo Ward.
And I actually think, like, that duo has become really, really stout.
Like, there's been teams that have said, we're not going to throw Denzo's way.
We're going to go to the opposite side.
and they've even had a tough time throwing against him.
So do the Browns kind of finally have this duo of corners
that can maybe slow down both these guys
and make their lives a little bit harder?
I'm curious to see that for sure.
But on the offensive side of things,
this Brown's offense has to be able to do what they did last week,
which is play from a place of leverage against the Bengals
and actually put up some points.
If you fall behind early against this Bengals team,
if it's like 14-0, I just don't know how you did.
I shouldn't say I don't know how,
because, yes, the Bengals off defense could always give up some chunk plays late,
and you could always get back into this thing.
But playing from behind is not just something this team really can handle or do.
They have to be able to have some success.
You know, like if they get the ball early or take the ball early,
score on that opening drive, put the Bengals in a spot where they have to throw the football.
And then Miles can sort of pin his ear back and ears back and make some plays.
So, yeah, like when you're going up against an offense that can put up points the way the Bengals can,
you need your offense to kind of come through and be able to kind of answer that bell.
And we'll see what that kind of looks like.
But sustaining drives and, you know, playing from a place of being ahead,
I think it could be key in this one for sure for the Cleveland Browns.
By the way, you brought up Burrow being on the sack record highlight.
I kind of wonder like if Burrow, not that he's cool with it,
but I think Burroughs like, he's such a different cat.
Like I wonder if he just, if he ends up being the guy on the highlight,
if he's just kind of like, it's just, you know, because he's gotten sacked by Miles Garrett's
sometimes and there's so much respect there. I almost wonder if he would just call. He would just say
good play. Like I don't think it's going to bother him. I think it will bother fans. Because like, Josh
Allen, a couple weeks ago was like, I don't want to be in other people's highlights. So no.
But I can see Bro just being like, this is going to be, I'm going to get sack by Miles Garrett. I've
been sack by him before. I'm going to get sack by him again. It's fine. He was his hundredth sack
last year. Yeah. It's true. It's just, yeah, it's wild. It's wild. It's wild.
works but yeah i mean if miles just wants to stay in cincinnati there's there's no problem after sunday's
