It was a scary practice for the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, but all is good now.
Jamar Chase avoids significant injury says he's all good after an injury scare in practice.
You are locked on Bengals, your daily Cincinnati Bengals podcast.

What up Bengals fans and welcome to another episode of the Lockdown Bengals podcast.
He's Joe Goodberry.
I'm Jake Liscoe and the world stopped temporarily.
downtown Cincinnati when Jamar Chase landed awkwardly trying to bring in a vertical pass from
Joe Burrow on the sideline with DJ Turner in coverage and in a no contact situation
the left leg hyper extended a little bit as he was coming back to the ground he immediately
grabbed for that left knee crawled off the field was in some pain the reaction from
DJ Turner was scary the reaction from Jamar himself was scary but then he popped up
limped off for a few steps with the trainer,
and shortly thereafter was walking normally,
was stretching out, flexing, and extending at the knee joint,
bending and extending that leg was moving around okay.
And so all is well, but there was a significant scare
that we're going to start today's episode with.
We're also going to talk about the post-Cody Ford world
in the offensive line room for the Cincinnati Bengals
as Cody Ford was cut midway through our recording of yesterday's episode.
and Dante Myers and Takario Davis both seem to be elevated after preseason game number two
and getting some more opportunities in practice.
A lot to cover from Monday's practice that we didn't get to.
We'll finish the show there, but we're going to start, of course, with Jemar Chase,
because that was the news of the day.
In an episode brought to you by Kalshi, for a limited time, you can download the Kalshi app.

And so it was a scary morning afternoon for the Bengals with Jemar Chase deal.
with that hyper extension a little bit as he came down.
But he told reporters in the locker room after the game,
after the practice, if there was a game tomorrow,
he would play.
He told Tony Pike on the radio and Moe Egger
on the radio right after practice that he actually tried
to go back into practice, they wouldn't let.
And it's just not worth it, right?
I think everyone that is following along
and following the practices, whether you're on social media
or just checking in afterwards and seeing what happened each day,
you see the news.
I even got an alert on my phone.
Jamar Chase, injury scare, Bengals practice, and I'm like, I don't like that.
But watching the videos and seeing how it was handled very quickly, it went from a scare to,
okay, he's walking, and they're not really, they're not carding him off.
They're not really treating him.
They're talking to him for a minute.
And then he was on the sideline.
But I thought the best part was T. Higgins immediately starts on buckling his stuff.
And he's like, I'm out too.
Jamar's out.
I'm not going out there.
We're not going to have this.
on which today is pretty much the last like big training camp practice before they go into a walkthrough.
We assume tomorrow it's supposed to be a light practice before their Friday game.
And then that's it for preseason.
So they were at the finish line.
It's just a little reminder that it is a physical game.
It is football.
Players will get hurt.
I'm glad we avoided this one this year.
Yeah, whether Jamar Chase has that Wolverine healing factor or not, we're glad that.
we're not dealing with the fallout of a potential severe injury here.
The fact that he took the interview with ESPN 1530 right after practice,
it was pre-scheduled,
but he still held that interview and still got on the radio with Moe and Tony down at training camp.
Great sign, right?
The fact that he hosted reporters at his locker right after the game,
great sign.
Like there's not even potentially the,
oh, this is actually worse than we thought potential here, really?
like I guess that always exists because if it's worse than you thought, you're not anticipating it by definition.
But the way that he's handling things wasn't carded off, didn't go back.
I mean, they carded off Miles Murphy for a cramp to get him on an IV.
Marche stayed out there.
So big difference in the way they handled those injuries.
He's laughing with Dexter Lawrence after play.
He's walking out there, high-fiving Dante Myers, who we're going to talk about because he was getting in there with the ones and making big plays in this practice as he has throughout training camp.
And as we saw from him in the preseason, Dante Myers, Arrow continues to point up for this team.
But out there high-fiving Dante Myers after he scores a touchdown from Joe Burrow on a practice.
Yeah, chirping from the sideline.
One coach, according to Dan Horde said he knew Jamar was okay when he was chirping at the defense again from the sideline as the trash talker that Jamar is.
So glad we avoided the worst here.
Not a good feeling.
I love the T immediately shut it down, though.
He's like, you know what?
I'm good.
We don't need another one today.
Maybe there's something in the air.
Let's just play it safe, shut it down, take a vet day here.
Because he was practicing.
And, yeah, interesting that he shut it down.
But when both of those guys were off the field, Dante Myers got in there,
Mitch Tensley got in there, the wide receiver rotation and competition
and kick returner competition continues to be interesting.
But the biggest news of the day is by far that Jamar is fine.
everything's okay.
We can return to normal life here after a scary practice.
I had a memory of the AJ Green injury.
Do you remember what high school it was?
They went to go practice at.
I don't remember which one.
Was that not when they were in Dayton?
Maybe it was Dayton.
Yeah.
Okay.
So were they at there at college then?
I think it was, yeah, a Dayton field that was a bit infamous.
Yeah.
And he just goes up for a ball, comes down, shatters his ankle, right?
And that's pretty much it for the season for.
him. And again, Jamar seems like he's fine. But the video, I don't know if we really described it.
He's on a vertical ball. So if you haven't seen it, he's going for a vertical ball. The ball's
inside a little bit. DJ Turner has great coverage on him. And Jamar kind of jumps up
awkwardly, kind of reaches inside almost to like defend the ball. And he doesn't really look like
he's playing the ball. I don't think he even has a chance to play it. But when he comes down,
his left leg kind of buckles outward and at the knee. And you can even see a trainer
in a video if you're watching the video on YouTube.
He kind of makes this motion as if it's just, you know,
kind of buckled and he rolled on the ground, got up, sat down on the sideline,
and you could even hear DJ Turner like audibly making a noise.
I'm sure the entire team was concerned with him.
But yeah, very quickly on his feet again, moving around and just stayed stretching it out
and moving it.
And he even took questions at his locker room after practice in Paycor Stadium,
which these are all signs that he's fine.
mine. He said if he had to play tomorrow, that he would. These are things everyone would say.
But I did think when you said they carted Murphy off. And I'm like, oh, yeah, that's right.
I would think that with a star player, maybe you use the cart in emergency scenarios, right?
Let's not hit the alarm bells for the public that may view that or the media that may put that
out there. Jemar Chase gets carded off. I mean, we would be having a much different vibe to this
episode right now, Jake, if they had had done that. So let's be sure. And I'm glad they
were sure of it. We didn't have to have him go inside and get an MRI done. And maybe he'll
still get some pictures done just to be sure. And maybe we'll get reports on it later today.
But as of right now, when we record, it seems like we avoided everything. And we can go on
talking about Bengals football and the rest of the 53 man roster. Yeah, we didn't get a whole lot
else from today's practice outside of the Dante Myers notes. We'll talk about for the last
couple of days for Dante Myers here in just a couple minutes. But yeah, when you compare it to
Miles Murphy or even Samar Stewart earlier in camp when he was carded to the locker room,
those guys did get trainer attention on the sideline before they brought the card over. And so
that's similar to what it was for Jamar. He got the trainer attention after about a minute or two.
He was moving pretty good. Whatever scare occurred, whatever pain he felt must have calmed down.
I don't know if you've ever, most people listening probably like rolled an ankle at some point, right?
and I'm not saying Jamar's had a knee injury before,
but I've rolled my ankle probably 100, 200 times in my life.
And there's some pain that happens now when I turn my ankle at this point in my life,
but it goes away pretty quick, and then I'm able to get up.
And so as soon as he starts moving around okay,
any real significant concern seemed to mostly evaporate at that point
because that initial shock, that initial scare that he's feeling has dissipated.
And so there's no need for the card at that point.
And he was trying to go back into practice, like I said.
He kept his pads on, actually, which was funny to me because he took his off right away.
He's like, no, I'm good.
Jersey's off pads are off.
Jamar keeps his pads on for the rest of the practice.
Yeah, everyone's got an injury scare story, I think, from even if you never played sports at a high level,
even if you're running with the dog or walking and roll your ankle or have your knee buckle,
I've got many of those.
I'm sure people leave them in the comments.
But one other injury update, I do want to put out there because I think it's a big one.
Brian Cook returned to team drills for the first time.
So it seems like he is on track for week one.
We always assume that we never wanted to hit the alarms on that at all.
It seemed precautionary when they did take them out.
We never even got full word.
It looked like a hamstring tweak during the Friday night light game in the stadium of Paycor.
We didn't really get an update, but we saw him on the practice or the rehab field.
I'm sorry.
And then now returning to team drills.
So that's a milestone in his progress back.
And that's all systems go there.
I think we'll see him very soon once we get back from this Eagles game.
And beyond that, Jake, we've got some other news and notes.
The big Cody Ford release that shook up the number two on the offensive line.
We'll get to that and more coming up next.
Before the season kicks off, everyone's making predictions.
Who wins the division?
Who makes the playoffs?
Who's lifting the trophy at the end of the season?
On Calci, America's number one prediction market platform,
you can trade those predictions in a live market.
Can the Bengals get to 11 wins?
I bet you think they can.
If you do, $100, a trade for $100 pays out over $200 if they get to the 11-1 mark.
I think they can get to the 11-1 mark.
If you're asking me, I'm thinking 12 or 13.
So that sounds appetizing for me.
On Cal She, you're trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no house.
And as the probability changes, you can buy in and out of your position, trade the draft
pick for the game and more on Cal She.

Margaret with Square. Get started today. Jake, I want to update that Brian Cook that we
finished off with there. It wasn't 11 on 11's, but it sounds like progress is being made
different team drills. Anyway, the cut yesterday. Cody Ford released, kind of a surprise move.
He's been on the team and played in 50 of the last 51 games over the last three years.
a valuable depth piece. I mean, we had a good moment last year with him catching a pass
and almost rumbling all the way for a touchdown. But I think we were very honest about Cody Ford's
abilities and maybe lack thereof without me to mean about it. But we could see him slowly
losing those the position with the team as the swing tackle, as the primary guard, right?
Because we said, Brian Parker's got to be the first guy off the bench now. Look at his
preseason. Look how he's played. He's the type of prospect we were both into.
And so right after the cut, you know, we're going to wonder is a move coming?
Is it, you know, what's the other shoe to fall from that?
Maybe we still will.
But that practice right after we saw a shift in the number two offensive line,
maybe give us a little bit of idea what the Bengals want to do in this final preseason game
and maybe answer some questions here.
And that was Connor Lewis Center, Jacob Bayer at Left Guard.
And he's only been coming in very late in preseason game.
So it's good to see him getting those reps.
Brian Parker at right guard where I thought he struggled a little bit more.
than left, but he did play right side at Duke. So let's, you know, let's see if you can play both
adequately. And then Javon Foster went to left tackle. Jalen Rivers went to right tackle.
Jalen Rivers, normally a left side guy in college played right guard last year as a rookie. So now getting
right tackle. That's four out of five positions. But that should be the unit that gets the bulk of the
snaps Friday night versus the Eagles to give us an idea of what this depth chart looks like on the
offensive line. Yeah. And a lot of these guys are going to end up making the team. I think there's
only one spot for a tackle the way it's going right now. Jalen Rivers does have that versatility.
So maybe that's where you talk yourself into keeping the rivers and Foster combination.
Because Foster's been from a results perspective, pretty good in the preseason. There's still some
technical stuff there that is not refined, that may never be refined from the way he plays.
And I talked about this yesterday, very upright, looks stiff with his footwork.
but has ended up getting some pretty good results out there.
It was a fourth round pick.
So it's not like he's bereft of talent and just was in a transition in Jacksonville
before he joins the Bengals.
And so there's still an opportunity for him there.
But between those last three guys, Bayer, Rivers, Foster, at most, I think you're keeping
two of those guys.
And you keep two of those guys if it's a Rivers plus Foster combination or a Bayer
plus Rivers or Foster combination because if they do keep Jacob Bayer and they decide, yeah, he can't
play guard. He can give us some interior flex. Then you have to keep one of those other guys to tackle.
But if they decide that Bayer is not quite good enough for us to keep at the expense of some other
player they like more, say Charlie Jones. Maybe they really want Charlie Jones to continue as a
returner for this team. And so we're going to have to see if we can get Jacob Bayer through waivers
because we want Charlie Jones to be the returner on opening day.
And we actually really like Jalen Rivers here,
and we're going to go eight offensive linemen.
And we're going to go with two interior backups and Conner Liu and Brian Parker,
and Jalen Rivers is going to be a backup tackle.
Or maybe it's Chavon Fasor, either one.
Take your pick, right?
And that's how you get to eight linemen.
But these are the guys that are competing for one or two, probably two.
I still think I would default to nine offensive linemen,
but that's your competition right now that we're watching on the offensive line.
But I'd love that they're getting Bayer reps at Guard because that's his path to making the team.
Connor Lou is going to be your backup center because of the investment there, because of the promise there.
I don't think he's starting the season on IR.
His trajectory from that injury has been too good.
Like we saw him get into a game.
So there's no real paths for him to start on any kind of list or anything like that.
And so getting Bayer the opportunity to show that he can play guard.
and put some tape out there to evaluate him.
Love that.
Also love the reps for Brian Parker at right guard,
Joe,
because Parker admitted after the game that the right side is where he
needs to get reps in and figure out his footwork over there at guard.
And so from the player's mouth to practice and getting that work in,
we're seeing that happen in real time.
And the open spot next year may be at right guard,
right?
Depending on what happens with Dalton Reisner.
Hopefully he plays well.
extend him and we don't have to worry about right guard for a couple more years right if he's still
good but on the other hand the bengals could see it as an opportunity to insert a player that
hopefully they like and you know feel the way we do that parker could be an eventual starter
i agree on bayer i'm excited to see that number one because maybe a little bit of a take
maybe this isn't a segment for later but i think he's been the best backup this preseason
and that's even over landon robinson you can maybe say i have one player to challenge you
Okay. I'd like to hear it if you real quick.
Kyle Dugger.
He hasn't played that much, though.
I'm sick at preseason games.
Okay.
In games, fair.
I would have to consider that at a much deeper level.
Tanner Hudson has played well.
Yeah, but again, not nearly as much.
I mean, because of how much Parker has played,
it's pretty easy to make that argument.
Okay.
So it's not a take that if it's an easy argument,
but I'd like to say if people disagree with that.
But that's even over Landon Robinson.
who was today at practice on the kick return blocking unit, which is interesting to see.
We're talking about the, you know, activating how many 46 guys, 47?
I'm going to get to 48 now.
I'm doing old.
48 if you have eight offensive.
Yeah.
Remember it used to be 45, 46, and then they've kept increasing it since COVID.
I've had the number at 45 in my head for several years.
And then every year I have to relearn that is 48 until this year where apparently I remembered.
Now you're the guy, Alianan.
But Robinson doing that.
is great. I mean, we've already seen them do fullback reps. Now he's blocking for kick returns.
And it was Dante Myers who was returning that one in a clip we got from practice today.
So yeah, it's starting to get a little bit clear. And I think the release of Cody Ford helps
clear up some pretty muddy waters as we're trying to navigate who would be offensive tackle
number three or O lineman eight and nine. And I think this clears it up pretty well.
Where I am now, though, Joe, in my, you know, before practice, thinking about the 53 man
roster before there was anything to distract me for the last two hours before we started
recording. I was in the phase of overthinking the 53 man roster was like, what if they
only keep eight offensive linemen? What if they want seven wide receivers and five tight ends?
Can they make that? And so I'm looking at these scenarios now because like maybe they really,
like I said, really want to keep Charlie Jones as a returner. Maybe they really want to keep
Keisham Williams as a returner as a pure returner. Maybe, right? Like maybe they want to go to eight
offensive lineman because they don't love the guys they have in the roster. Although Bayer,
we continue to think has played pretty darn well in this preseason and has shown quite a bit
for a random waiver claim that they tacked onto the roster as Conor Lou Insurance. So
there are questions like that that are still out there when we look at this roster,
but Dante Myers continues to answer the call. And Takario Davis getting more of an opportunity,
especially in Monday's practice, getting reps with the ones, going up,
against T. Higgins, honestly, practicing quite well in that opportunity, but DJ Ivy still has a
role in certain packages as well. So that crystallizing a little bit, those guys may be stepping
up in practice. So we'll finish with those notes and more coming up next. We're brought to you
today by game time. Game time knows that when you want to buy tickets to a Bengals game, you want to

Download the game time app today. Joe, we've seen some movement with Dante Myers continuing to work in with the
ones in some key spots.
And that wide receiver battle might be a little bit more open than I previously thought.
I'm talking about keeping seven wide receivers today.
And Takario Davis, Bobo Davis, a couple of pass breakups defending T. Higgins pretty well
in Monday's practice.
Those two things among others really stood out.
We have some other practice notes and we'll get to for Monday in particular as well.
But those guys getting an opportunity, Dante Myers, making the plays with Joe Burrow,
on Tuesday's practice as well after T. Higgins and Jemar Chase exit.
And if anything's clear, I think Ticario Davis is a guy that has fans in the building
after his preseason debut, where he was very physical, strong tackler in the run game,
and Dante Myers Arrow continues to point way off.
Yeah, the first thing here I want to touch on is Ticario Davis,
because we've talked a lot about Myers.
And I'd like to go back to Myers at some point here before we finish.
But Ticario coming off a strong game on film, right?
You could see it when you're watching the game.
He was coming up making tackles.
He was physical.
He was aggressive.
He was talking crap to the other team.
Things I like from a corner, right?
But then we put on the film and I was like, yeah, he looks like what we saw in college,
which isn't a bad or good thing, but it confirms things.
I think when personnel and coaches watch that, they will say, okay, the lights weren't
too big.
He was still himself, right?
That still looks like Bobo Davis out there at corner.
And that's a good thing.
And so when they come back,
the next day in practice and they give him starter reps because Dax is still out.
I go, oh, they must have really liked what he put on tape.
The things we can't see, right?
Maybe the adjustments in coverage or leverage or recognizing route combinations,
things we may not pick up on right away.
They must have really liked what he did.
And he answered that first call that he had in preseason.
So that is great to hear.
And yes, made a couple plays.
He's a physical, that is a big guy, right?
There's a play where it's a slant.
They're in red zone, tight red zone.
10-yard line, two T. Higgins.
I can't tell if we get weird angles sometimes from practice,
I can't tell throws behind him ahead of him, whatever.
But Ticario is draped around Tee,
and T-tick-t typically makes these corners look very, very small.
And of course, Ticario is 6-4, so he does not.
You know, that's not something you're going to get.
You're going to be like, this is a great matchup.
You get matchups with him versus Colby Young.
That's a great-sized matchup.
I still, you know, I came away from these two practices
after the preseason game, like, okay,
he's still that guy that they see as a potential starter on the boundary because they're probably
only going to be able to extend one of these corners, right?
We talked about this when Takario was drafted.
I think just off this a little bit here, I don't want to overhype it, but good confirmation
from the coaching staff that they liked what they saw from them.
It fits in with a lot of this draft class too, right?
Like that's kind of the theme for many of these players on this draft class and that even
extends to Cassius Howell with Miles Murphy in a contract year.
No extensions done still, as of the time of us recording this.
episode at 5 p.m. Eastern time. No extension for DJ Turner, no extension for Dax Hill,
no extension for Miles Murphy. And so with Cassius Howl potentially slotting in to be a future
starter with, we talked about Brian Parker earlier, potentially slotting into be a future
starter right guard. Conor Lou, potentially a future starter at Center, Takario Davis,
potentially a future starter at Corner. That is largely how we see this draft class and
see the way that they can step in and be contributors. And that's why we're so,
pleased with the progress they've shown and what they have shown on the field in a couple of
preseason games. The flashes certainly there, the ability on display. And while there isn't perfect
tape, as you would expect for rookies, there's clearly a lot to work with with these guys.
And nobody that looks blatantly out of place with that set of players in particular that we're
talking about. Colby Young has even made his fair share of plays. So even some of these picks that
we were a little bit more critical of because they were reaches against consensus, because we thought
the Bengals went off the chart a little bit in the draft.
So far, I've made a really good impression.
Now, it's just one preseason, obviously.
That can only mean so much.
Some of the stuff will have to translate into games at some point.
But it has been a really strong start for this rookie class.
And that continues to be a theme to this preseason.
Yeah, and DJ Ivy, who's been who I would say won the cornerback four spot and has been
pretty good this preseason.
There was a drill in Monday's practice where they had, I want to say it was 19 seconds left,
the offense had to get in field goal range. So let's say, you know, the team, other team scores
are up by two. You've got the ball after a kickoff 19 seconds left. You've got to get a one chunk
play or a chunk play and a half, get yourself in a field goal position and, and let Evan McPherson
nail it, which he did from 61, by the way. And those are smaller go posts in the practice
field. But another strong camp, by the way, for Evan McPherson. Not something that we talk about
a lot, but Evan seems to be pretty much. At the end, maybe we have like a ranking of who had
like the strongest camps or strong camps these guys did.
I mean, there's a lot of players, which I think helps build the excitement for the season.
But yeah, Evan McPherson is on that.
But DJ Ivy, they're in a dime, a big dime because, and I say that even though it's
6 dBs, four corners, two safeties, right?
That's a dime.
But I called a big dime because they're removing a linebacker here.
And it's just Demetrius Knight.
Barrett Carter's removed off.
And they're putting DJ Ivy in the box as a linebacker.
And there's even a play where he turns and starts to run the scene.
for Tampa too. Typically they were using him last year to cover tight ends and man, this was
zoned. So a little bit different than what we've seen in the past. Thought it was notable.
I can't wait to see if Kyle Dugger gets a piece of that. That's because Ticario was on the outside
and was able to do that boundary role, which is just more benefit, more depth to this defense.
And I thought that stood up, Jake. What qualifies you to be a big dime defensive back?
Because, and here's why I asked this question, D.J. V and Kyle Dugger both listed at 6-1,
but DJ Ivy listed at 192.
Kyle Dugger listed at 216.
It's really a big dime.
If DJ Ivy's out there,
he is a little bit big for corner for sure at 6.1.
That's like two inches taller than your average corner,
probably 5, 11, 6 feet, pretty common for corners.
5, 10, pretty common for corners and a little bit heavier.
A lot of those guys closer to 180, 190, but he's 192.
So what's it take to be a big dime?
It's actually the offense.
So who's he covering?
he goes into cover tight ends, then you're using a bigger player to cover that matchup.
And that's why it wouldn't be a corner, which is what's interesting.
And you would use a big dime, which would be a third safety typically, where, you know,
people say, isn't that nickel?
Well, not really.
You got six d'bs out there.
Yeah, that's what I think of what I think big dime is an extra safety instead of an extra
corner.
Right.
And normally you would have that guy still in the box area covering the tight end or maybe even
a running back.
and that's why putting Ivy in the box to me is like, well, that's a big dime.
That's what I think of when I think of a big dime is having that DB in the box, and he was.
Yeah.
One point of clarification from earlier as well that I'm seeing as we're recording this.
Jeremy Rauch tweeted that T wanted to clarify that his paths were already off before Jemar Chase got hurt,
which I'm pretty sure there's a video of it.
And I'm pretty sure I can see T in the background of the play.
We don't question it.
her wearing his pads.
So anyway,
can we talk about Dante?
Yeah,
we're going to get to Dante Myers here to wrap things up,
who continues to impress in preseason games.
To me,
is for sure on the roster at this point.
When you're trying to project his role,
it gets interesting because at 5'9,
he's not going to be the best blocker in the world.
He'll maybe bring all the effort you could want to ever see
out of a wide receiver,
but of that size,
he's smaller.
So the blocking is going to be capped for him,
and that's going to be an important part for any wide
receiver three in this offense. But like thinking about say a third in 10, do you rather have
Dante Myers on the field or Andre Yosovash on the field? And when that becomes a question that
you actually have to stop and consider, that's a real strong sign for the kind of camp and preseason
that Dante Myers has had. I would love to talk about the different combinations of receiver they
could deploy because I think you could put Kobe Young and T on the outside and put Jamar in the
slot, right? And be like, all right, where are you going to shade the safety? Because we'll go,
we'll throw it up to Colby on the other side if it's a bad corner out there and, you know,
he can win that jump ball. I also like the idea of Jamar and T being out wide and then getting
Dante Myers in and you're going to run a jet sweep with him because, I mean, no attention is
going to be going to be going to be going to be on his way. Imagine if Jemar and T are on the same
side, left side, you go three to the left, uh, Gaseki to the right and you run a jet sweep to the
right with Dante Myers. Like the defense isn't going to run with Dante. They're going to be worried that
you're going to flip it out to Jamar still on a screen.
you got a screen on the backside.
I'm getting creative here.
But the idea is you can do a lot of different things.
And yes, Yoshi is still going to be wide receiver three.
And Mike Gaseki is going to still play a ton of those snaps.
But what I think about Myers is that you get something that none of those other guys
bring to the table.
And I think it's the little bit more of a lightning bug type receiver that can be a run
after the catch, that can do some of the horizontal stuff, that can get open quickly
and use his athleticism and acceleration to get open.
and create after the catch.
And I don't think any of these other guys on the roster can do that.
We hope Charlie Jones will be able to do that.
He doesn't have a lateral explosiveness.
He doesn't have the toughness after the catch either.
Kobe Young doesn't have that because he's too big, too long, too linear.
And then Andreos Hibash, the best athlete, second best receiver athlete on the team.
He just isn't the best athlete on the football field.
So these things matter.
And I think you could use them in different ways.
And I hope they will.
That's one position I'm looking at all season.
I do think that T has a little bit of after catch.
ability this untapped in the NFL because of the way he's used as a bigger body guy.
He doesn't get targets that are really favorable for an after catch opportunities.
Most of the time, but we have seen him split dbs on slants and take those to the house.
So like there's some of that with him.
Last year we started to see him bullying guys a little bit more with his size and using
that grown man strength that he's come into as a bigger player and getting a few yards
after catch that way too.
but when you compare him to a guy like Jamar Chase is a different kind of yards after catch player.
But I did just want to shout out to you for that caveat, which is the type of routes he gets targeted on typically aren't very conducive to yards after catch.
Joe, do we have any other quick hitter notes that we want to dump here before we wrap up this episode?
No, those were all the ones I had.
I did watch film on Jvonne Foster recently in all his past sets.
And while clunky and awkward looking and not my flavor,
I thought he was effective.
So it's at least interesting that he's over Cody Ford.
And let's see in the last preseason game if he can beat out Jalen Rivers.
Yeah, one of the big competitions will be watching.
We have a bit of a different schedule for you with the game on Friday for the rest of the weeks.
If you're still with us now, you probably are interested about when our episodes will be coming for you for the rest of the week.
So we're planning to do a full episode tomorrow that will get you through to the game.
It'll be like a game preview kind of thing.
We're currently planning to do a little bit of a bonus episode to tie you over until we get to the game.
Then we'll be back after that game on Friday night for the final episode of this week.
Until then, that's going to do it for this episode of the Lockdown Bengals podcast.
Thanks for listening.
Hootay.
And have a good one.
