Locked On Bengals - Daily Podcast On The Cincinnati Bengals - Maxx Crosby Trade EXPLODES, Will Bengals Get Involved?

Episode Date: March 11, 2026

Maxx Crosby is no longer heading to Baltimore, and SO MUCH has changed since the Ravens agreed to send the Raiders two 1st round picks a few days ago. Jake Liscow and James Rapien discuss whether the ...Bengals should call in case the asking price has changed, especially with the possibility that Trey Hendrickson lands with the Ravens. It could be one way to make up for what was a disappointing Tuesday that saw Leo Chenal and Logan Hall sign elsewhere on reasonable deals. Starting point is 00:00:00 The Baltimore Ravens have thrown a huge wrench into everyone's offseason plan. They pull out of the Max Crosby trade should the Bengals get involved. Let's get into it. You are locked on Bengals, your daily Cincinnati Bengals podcast. Part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. What up Bengals fans and welcome to another episode of the Lockdown Bengals podcast. Part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day and the number one sports Podcast Network in the land.
Starting point is 00:00:38 He's James Rapine. I'm Jake Lisco, and we are your host of the lockdown Bengals podcast, bringing you daily coverage of your Cincinnati Bengals going all the way back to 2016 and a much quieter Tuesday than we had on Monday when we had three shows, two signings, a recap at the end of the day, looking ahead to what's next. And, well, the Bengals didn't do anything that we know of on Tuesday. I'm sure there was a lot of work happening behind the scenes, but no deals agreed to between any free agent as of 10.15 p.m. as we record this and the Cincinnati Bengals. And that's disappointing, but overshadowing that and where we start today is one of the crazier
Starting point is 00:01:17 stories I can ever recall in the NFL. Max Crosby was traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first round picks. Max Crosby was in Baltimore. He was talking to Baltimore's coaches. He was there to get the physical out of the way. he had a meniscus repair. Everyone knew about the knee surgery. The Ravens decided that they were going to fail the physical for Max Crosby, torpedoing the trade, two first round picks back to the Ravens,
Starting point is 00:01:45 who now once again desperately have a pass rush need, were immediately linked with Trey Hendrickson. That's going to be part of this conversation. But, James, again, I cannot remember a bombshell like this, something this crazy happening because of the, the domino effects that all the national reporters have referred to that followed the max crosbie trade and now that first domino is back where it started and everything else has already fallen everything is out of order and it really seems like in front offices across the league
Starting point is 00:02:19 chaos has ensued a lot of teams really don't know what direction this is going to go how to handle this shocking event on tuesday night yeah it is shocking i was I was live on doing my other show on Cincinnati Bengals talk and it was like, what? And I thought it was spam because it was a tweet at me. And someone pulled the Raiders post and tweeted it. I mean, I'm like, oh, well, this looks legit. And then I look at my mentions and I see the notifications. And it's like, oh, the Raiders are announcing that the Ravens pulled out of the deal.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And that alone, you're like, what is going on? and then a few minutes later it's the failed physical designation. And the wheels turning in my head as those things are happening. And now it's a few hours removed from that as we do this show. And it's good the way you put it because the Ravens chose to fail, Max Crosby. It is a very subjective thing. It's not like there's a checklist. And if it's like check, check, check, check, you can just fail.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And it's not like it's a third party, which I think some people maybe thought it was. I know one person asked that specifically this is the Ravens doctors and the Ravens front office decided that because of whatever they saw, the plausible deniability anyway is that we are not comfortable with the level of risk we discovered when we assess this player in person. Yeah. And so when you think of it that way and when you look at it that way, it's like, okay, well, clearly they got cold feet, buyers are more. They thought about that 14th pick, what the 14th pick could be.
Starting point is 00:04:02 They thought about next year's first. And the other thing here, and it is a factor, is the guy who is, for my money, the best defensive player available, certainly the best pass rusher available in my money for my money in free agency when everybody was unsigned. And everyone was lacking deals coming into this year. It's Trey Hendrickson. And trade just happens to be available. And trade just happens to not have a big enough market to agree on day one or day two.
Starting point is 00:04:37 And the interesting timeline, I thought it was weird like 7.30-ish Eastern. And I'm a little off on this time, but 730-ish Eastern on Tuesday, Diana Rusini tweeting, Trey Hendrickson will make a formal decision tomorrow. When in the world did you have? Have you ever heard that? And it was just odd. That's fake. That's not a thing in the other.
Starting point is 00:05:00 There's no formal decisions. No. You're making a decision aside. You're out of the city. Yeah. That's it. Yeah. Like that's it.
Starting point is 00:05:08 And so, like, is he flying to Baltimore right now? Like, it wouldn't shock me. Mm-hmm. And so, like, I get it. Like, maybe Max Cosby's knee in that meniscus. It's just really messed up. And that's it. And it is the medicals.
Starting point is 00:05:22 But when you see the league react this way and the things that are being said, and then you read the obvious tracks. What tracks and what doesn't? This guy who's 85% of Max Crosby, certainly not the run defender, can't be the third down, or the three-down type of player that Max Crosby is when healthy.
Starting point is 00:05:45 But as a pass-rush, or trade gives you juice. 39 sacks and 41 games. So his last 41 games, he has 39 sack. He's going to get you juice. The Ravens, they need some juice in the past. pass rush. I think they looked at this and there's going to be some that push back and do all those things. Everyone should be looking to see if Trey Hendrickson sides with the Ravens because if he does,
Starting point is 00:06:08 it is the most suspect thing. It already is. It already feels bad. It already looks bad. It looks like buyer's remorse. It feels like buyer's remorse. I really doubt that Max Crosby's health issues are that bad. I think this was a, man, should we give up the 14th pick and next year's first for this like and you think about it more and more have let's not do that right how do we get out of it oh trey hendrickson's available too we can still have a really good land a really good edge rusher and fix this need plus we keep the two first i think that's what happened do i know it for sure no i don't do i think it i absolutely do yeah it's really easy to put that together and assume that's what happened of course the ravens are trying to blame the raiders and the ravens
Starting point is 00:06:53 are saying, man, the Raiders didn't tell us everything. They should have told us what was going on. The Raiders feel like they could have gotten ahead of this medical process earlier. And before the eve of the new league year, where all of these other moves have already happened. And Max Crosby's agent is saying, look, he's ahead of schedule in his recovery. Everyone knew that he had a meniscus repress. This isn't like a surprise. So the Ravens are going to continue to try to spend this thing like, look, this is way worse than you could have
Starting point is 00:07:23 possibly imagined. And Max Crosby and the Raiders are going to be rightly pretty upset about how this went down. A lot of the league reacting very negatively to the way the Ravens handled this. And who knows, maybe this is genuine by the Ravens. Really doesn't look that way. Really stinks. It's fishy.
Starting point is 00:07:41 There's something going on here. And immediately the pivot was, yeah, the Ravens are going to sign Trey. Of course they are. And they get to keep their picks. And they get to get a pass rusher who might even be better, even if he's not as good in other parts of his game. is max crosbie it's healthier coming off of a uh an easier surgery to recover from the the core muscle surgery the hernia repair instead of a meniscus repair which takes potentially what nine
Starting point is 00:08:07 months up to i'm off the top of my head there but it can be a long recovery for a meniscus repair as opposed to a meniscus trim throwing the entire NFL into chaos and the question then becomes well who's still in for max crosbie apparently the cowboys are not They traded for Rashaun Gary. They're no longer in. I don't think anyone else, according to reports that I saw, was offering two first round picks for Max Crosby. So should the Bengals be interested?
Starting point is 00:08:37 Who else would be interested in Max Crosby? Where would the bidding war be coming from? The bills reportedly had some interest in Trey Hendrickson on Tuesday as well. But if he ends up in Baltimore instead of Buffalo, as Trey is talking to two AFC teams with direct competition, with the Cincinnati Bengals trying to burn that bridge that's been so crispy that there's nothing flammable left trying to find another piece of fire to leave in his wake going to an AFC rival of the Cincinnati Bengals. Would the Bill Zend get in on Crosby if they lose the Trey Hendrickson sweepstakes that he might end up in Baltimore?
Starting point is 00:09:17 Instead, the commanders previously may have been in for Crosby. They signed Addafe Owe. And so do the bears try to make some space? Do the Bengals who reportedly did call get interested again? Do they recheck that price? Because I don't know that they're going to get two first round picks now, James. That feels like that was yesterday's deal. And now so much has happened, so many players assigned,
Starting point is 00:09:44 so much money has been allocated by all of these teams. It really leaves the Raiders in a tough spot. and Max Prosby certainly doesn't want to be there. He said bye. It was a long video. That's done. So what's next for Max Prosby should the Bengals get involved? Let's discuss the price the Bengals may be interested in paying.
Starting point is 00:10:02 How realistic is it coming up next? Today's show is brought to by five-hour energy. Five-hour energy is here in its draft season. And it's time for the flavor draft with five-hour energy with 18 different flavors to choose from, including new options like confetti craze, fruity rainbow, or cotton candy. There's something for everyone. The board has said the flavors are ready.
Starting point is 00:10:27 My number one pick, as always, is cherry. Cherry is my go-to, but there are plenty of flavors from fruity rainbow to grape, to berry, strawberry banana, Hawaiian breeze, sour apple, peach mango, sour apple is amazing, by the way. It's the apple that
Starting point is 00:10:43 bites back. You've got to get five-hour energy in your life today. I'm certainly running on five-hour energy this week with free agency, and five-hour energy shots gives you a boost with zero sugar find your new flavor of five hour energy shots available online at five hour energy.com or Amazon. All right, Jake, let's dive into Max and what he's worth if the Bengals will be in, if they should be in. And initially, they have to have the conversation because Max Crosby is not going to bring back two ones now. That will not happen. This is
Starting point is 00:11:25 certainly going to flip the league a bit in the fallout from it and in the reaction man the reaction if the ravens do sign hendrickson is going to be insane but you're already assuming that's going to happen but yeah i mean we'll have another wave of it tomorrow potentially i i really do wonder i kind of hinted at it and i don't know but if the formal part of it what if hendrickson is flying to Baltimore. And it's like that, like, that's the formal part of it. And then he can like get his physical and then sign at the start of the new league year. Yeah, maybe on Wednesday. Like, maybe that's happening. Maybe by formal, he means literally officially signing pen to paper. And that's how it's going to go down. Could be. We're at that part of the calendar tomorrow at 4 p.m.
Starting point is 00:12:11 Right. That would be formal, right? And so that's the only reason I throw that out there because it's just such an odd thing. But I, here's why I'm in on Max Crosby is one, it's still a need. Two, clearly the best option available. Tray is not available for you. That's three, two ones. It's why the Ravens got out of this. If they'd only given up one one, I bet you that knee or whatever they, they're going to, because you're going to see, but by the time this, the dust settles, you'll have more details about what the Ravens saw and all of those things and what concerned them. And you're already seeing it with the medical reports. You know, it's back and forth.
Starting point is 00:12:53 The Ravens are saying one thing. No doubt. It's going to be a bunch of conflicting information. And so you can't buy it if you're the Bengals. What you need to do if you're the Bengals is look at this and say, do we really like Max Crosby? We do. Do we believe in him? We do.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And I know they do. All right. Well, what's the price? and can you find a reasonable price? What were you willing to pay? Albert Breer was the one that reported that they kicked the tires late in the process. What were you willing to give up for Max then? Because maybe, like, Max is the same guy now that he was four days ago.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Five days ago, last week, two weeks ago, maybe that big swing price is Bengals discounted, is exactly where you want to be. Like, it's really going to be awkward for the Raiders. Yeah. Like, that's not going to be a fun thing. And so this will be at a discount. He will not go for two ones.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Now, is it a one in a two? Maybe do the Cowboys get in the mix? I don't fully believe that the Cowboys are just going to completely disregard Max Krause because Rashon Gary is in the mix. And there's a lot of ways these teams. Numerous reports out of Dallas have shut down. Any return to interest for the Cowboys, that could obviously change, but this is both national and local Cowboys reporters.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Sounds great. You know what I would say if I was Jerry Jones? The exact same thing. Right? Like I would be saying that too. By the way, if I'm the Bengals, I wouldn't be calling today. But that is something that you kind of monitor. You see how the Raiders are feeling. And maybe you call them about like Michael Mayer, even if you don't have any interest in traded for Michael Ware. Right. Call me about Michael Mayor. And they just have about Michael Mayer. And they just have to be like, oh, well, by the way, that's crazy what happened. And you do that. Like I, it's, it wouldn't be that out of bounds, or out of bounds is the wrong word.
Starting point is 00:14:56 It wouldn't be that while to go with that approach, try to get info and just kind of see, just kind of lay the groundwork, see if they, they want to move, if they're willing to move. They're not going to give them away. They're going to want pick 10. Whether or not the Bengals should give up pick 10, is that enough? Is that too much? Is that too little? Whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:15 We can have that discussion. But that's probably where it starts. And if on the Raiders, that's what I would want, minimum. And so if you're the Bengals, you need to kind of flush that out a little bit and see what it is. Because if it's 41 and next year's first, yeah, you might be interested, right? If you can keep pick 10. It's just there's a lot of layers to this. And I'm not going to completely pun on it because the Ravens failed Max Crosby for a physical.
Starting point is 00:15:42 because I thought they had buyers or mores. I'd be very surprised that the Bengals get involved here and pulls this off. Pleasantly surprised, but I would be surprised. I think that given their general conservatism and the fact that they've already dedicated money at the position, and not nothing, like you'd be talking about adding $50 million per year to the position if they went and traded for Crosby, too, and they would lose some draft assets in the process, which means they're losing access to cost-controlled players on the other side of adding very costly players,
Starting point is 00:16:17 it would also make a difference. It would also be potentially a huge shot in the arm, assuming that they pass Max Crosby on his physical, right? So I'm not outright dismissing it, I guess, at this point. Maybe you've persuaded me a little bit in that direction. I would still be surprised that the Bengals really got interested again here unless the price really comes down. And it's possible that the price has really come down.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And that's what you need to explore. Because all these teams that could have been interested will have spent a lot of money on other players. And the suitors for Max Crosby today will be different than the suitors were before they committed a bunch of funds and made all these other plans, assuming Max Crosby was no longer available. And that's why one of the things that fascinates me most about this, I know we're a Bengals showing.
Starting point is 00:17:05 We're going to continue to focus on the Bengals talent acquisition here. But Cameron Wolf tweeting that, one general manager told him everyone involved in the max crosbie trade talks meaning not just the ravens other teams too knew he would be out until june or july coming off this meniscus repair and the consensus opinion is that the ravens got cold feet and it could impact how other teams work with baltimore moving forward i think the nfl is very upset with the way the ravens handled this and and it's going to be a potential hurdle for the ravens to overcome in terms of gaining the trust with other teams because this is such a rugpole move from them.
Starting point is 00:17:44 The Bengals should explore this. I agree with you. I think they should. As to whether or not they will, I remain skeptical, right? Like we know that they have been involved with some other players that they didn't sign. But they had a very disappointing Tuesday. Maybe this is their vision to get an impact player because the other guys they wanted to get in the building. They were unable to get into the building.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Maybe that's the path. to them revisiting this but i wonder what the price will be like if it's a second round picking a player what if it's a second and shamar stewart who i know a lot of bengals fans might think has no trade value maybe he doesn't maybe that gets laughed off but what if it's a pick and a different player who maybe has a little bit more value and is maybe still a little bit cost-controlled i would explore that if on the bengals i think to some degree as well i think bengals would bulk at the 10th pick this year 41 Shamar Chris Jenkins.
Starting point is 00:18:41 I think so. Yeah. Would you do? Oh, this is a good one. I assume the Raiders have the 33rd pick. Why wouldn't they? The 10th pick for the 33rd pick and Max Crosby. It's interesting.
Starting point is 00:18:57 The 10th for the 33rd and Crosby? Yeah. You know, like. I would have to think about that. I still think the Bengals would, would, I think the best. angles would have a hard time giving up 10. Yeah. And I think that always would have had a hard, hard time giving up 10.
Starting point is 00:19:14 And so would 41 plus Shamar plus next year's two? Like there are, there's no doubt the price is different. And we thought that the Ravens were high anyway. And that's why they pulled out. Like if this was next year's one for Crosby and let's say a third rounder this year, I don't think they pull out. when you have that level of investment you like you're like oh man we're buying at the absolute highest we can buy do we still want this and at some point between saying yes and in that that
Starting point is 00:19:51 I mean he was going through the building talking with coaches yeah no like this was you know like it wasn't like oh they they looked at him and they were like oh what's wrong with this guy so yeah I would be in we can have a more of a conversation on it because I do think like if the Bengals were to take a big swing on a player, this is the type of situation that they should be willing to take advantage of. And obviously, you've got to stress your doctors and all of those things. That goes without saying.
Starting point is 00:20:18 It goes without saying with all of these guys that they just looked at at the NFL Combine. That's what the NFL Combine is for, by the way. As much as it's for the running and all those things, it's really for the medicals. We'll continue the conversation coming up next. Today's show is brought to by Fandul. Fandul is here and college basketball is non-stop.
Starting point is 00:20:39 big games, tight spreads, momentum swings, conference tournaments. And that's why Fandall is here because the tournament is right around the corner. And well, Fandall is giving you a way to turn that energy into an even bigger potential wins with their college basketball parley profit boost. Right. It's college basketball. We love it. It's March.
Starting point is 00:21:01 It's time. Now you get a parlay profit boost courtesy of Fandle. You can build any college hoops parlay you want. Any games, any matchup. any spreads, totals, player props, mix and match, build that prop bet and parlay. And guess what? You're going to get a profit boost and instantly bump up the potential payout. Go safe, go bold, ride with the team you've been following all season.
Starting point is 00:21:25 It's your parlay with Fandall. Head to fandle.com to get started. That's fandal.com. Fandle, play your game. The way you talked me into the Bengals getting into the Max Crosby conversation is in part because of what didn't happen for the, them on day to a free agency and even yesterday on day one of free agency they didn't get a linebacker we watched leo chanall and kaden ellis a couple of players that had connections or we thought would
Starting point is 00:21:55 be good fits for the bengals at linebacker signed with other teams i wouldn't have done the ls deal he got i think three years 33 that seems like insane a pretty crazy deal for him but leo chanall absolutely would have done that deal looked very affordable logan hall who i thought was the the best option as far as a three tech who could give you some pass rushing help and a young player who maybe has some ascension left returns to Houston where he went to college and signed with the Houston Texans and we'll join a ferocious defensive front to be quite frank and probably be pretty good there another deal I would have done quite easily I would have done both of those deals so the Bengals miss on those guys yep and so the question becomes where else can they find impact is it a guy
Starting point is 00:22:42 that's on the open market still. Does Arnold Edicating not have much of a market? Do they think they can get him on a reasonable deal and throw him into the pass-rush rotation? Do they kick the tires on any of the older players, the over 30 guys that we've talked about in the last couple of the weeks, the Jadavia and Clownies or the Javon Hargraves or Jonathan Allen's of the world? Or do they actually get involved with Max Crosby?
Starting point is 00:23:04 Again, I would still be surprised, James. I would still be surprised. However, after Monday, I did still feel like the Bengals were going to add players that mattered. Yes. I wasn't entirely surprised they did nothing Tuesday. I was a little bit surprised they didn't do some of the specific deals that got done Tuesday that seemed like they were deals that were up the Bengals alley,
Starting point is 00:23:29 Chanel and Hall in particular. But they've historically been very quiet on day too. So it's very disappointing, I think, the second day of talent acquisition and free agency that they had. So maybe that is what redirects them. to actually think about getting involved for Max Prowdy. Again, I was so be surprised. I think you're a little bit more open to that being realistic than I am, James.
Starting point is 00:23:55 No, no, it's different. It's what I would do. Of course, the Bengals probably are like, oh, that's crazy what happened in Baltimore. And they're like, moving on. By the way, give me Arnold Epicati. Give me Jadavian Clowny. Give me, and here's the other one. Joey Bose is still out there.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Yeah, if you just need him to drive. rush the passer on third downs. I mean, I wonder what kind of money he's going to want, but he can still get after the pastor if he's healthy. It's freaking Wednesday. Like, you know, like everybody is talking about, I mean, it's Tuesday night as we're doing this, but like, hey, Joe, get your,
Starting point is 00:24:25 I'll buy the crackers, host Joey Bosa for crackers and cheese at your mansion. And, uh, and let's go, you know, so there are guys. And that's what, that's what made the Logan Hall thing so weird is like, he's made sense on paper to me. and didn't go for a lot.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Leo Chanel made sense on paper. I was talking with plenty of different people, like including some in the building. And I've mentioned Leo Chanel to them. And it wasn't like you got that, ah, no, we're good. And sometimes you'll get that with guys. And that's not the case.
Starting point is 00:25:01 And so they're, they've missed on some, but there are plenty of others that could fit. And where I'm at with the linebacker situation, Like I would still like Bobby Wagner, but there aren't many. And invest in your pass rush. Like there are still guys that can matter in that department that can help you there. And so if you're going to miss out on all of the linebackers, fine.
Starting point is 00:25:28 But go get good players. Like I really wish the moment Leo Chanel agreed, they instantly had Logan Hall down. And it was two years, $15 million, the Gino Stone deal. because then you'd be like, oh, at least they invested on an interior pass rusher. I'd rather have that than a linebacker on paper if they both turn out to be what you hope they are. And it's a good linebacker class if they
Starting point is 00:25:49 want to go a rookie route again. Are you in Andrea Greenlaw? I'm not. I looked at it more. He's scary, man. I don't know how you can bank on him to do it. He hasn't played. He just hasn't played. You couldn't bank on him. I'll kick the tires, though. Looks like he's still, when he's on the field, can play, but he's
Starting point is 00:26:05 had a tough time staying on the field. Yeah. And so, like, what does that mean what does that do like that's why i mean on bobby wagner like i think he's still like and don't ask him to cover but guess what he's going to be in the right place i'll help you get lined up he'll teach the young guys the habit they need to be successful NFL players he's he's going to hit he'll tackle like you know the basic stuff that they haven't had uh i agree with you though maybe the pivot is away from linebacker it could be just back to you know maybe there's a corner they like and there were some people asking about
Starting point is 00:26:39 Tariq Wulin today who ends up signing elsewhere. I don't know if the Bengals were ever involved there. I don't know where that rumor came from, but maybe they're just back to the edge, right? And I mentioned Arnold Lovicati, maybe is Kalayvon Chase on. Maybe it's just a role player like Josh Ushay, right? Dante Fowler, a guy that they could bring in on a one-year deal.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Al-Qadim Muhammad, a guy that we've talked about as well. So. Epinessa, sure. He doesn't do a whole lot for me as a pass rusher. And that's kind of what I was looking at is like that, that extra piece is a designated pass rusher, which is why Fowler could be interesting. Is that fourth piece of the rotation to me, despite his 32-year-old age? And see what's left there.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Von Miller? Vaughn wasn't very good last year. I'm not. Hey, you have him higher than I do. You have him at 3-5, brother. Do I? Yeah, you do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:33 That's a mistake. Sometimes I go too quickly. But like Clowny, Cam Jordan, like I saw in Reddick's coming off a rough year, but I may be too high on him. Maybe Bradley Chubb. Some one. Chubb is just a name at this point.
Starting point is 00:27:49 But there are guys out there regardless of Hoover. We agreed on him, 3-5. But yes, regardless, maybe that's the route you go and invest there. Defensive tackle, it's got to be Hargrave. Like there's really not much, Unless you go like DJ Reader, like unless you do that and you say, hey, we're going to do like Bosa, who's going to get after the passer or clownie. This is what I would do.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I would do clownie and reader and then just have like a really good run to fit. You'd be really strong. Alan, I think would be another one to throw out there. That's interesting. Yeah. Does he play better when he gets out? Christian Mokens is such a weird phenomenon. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:31 No idea what's going on with him. No idea. It's impossible for... He's talented. To understand what the deal is there. But they need to find a couple of other players here, James. It's going to be a big... I think Wednesday's a big day.
Starting point is 00:28:45 I'm not too surprised they didn't do anything on day two. Unfortunately, I don't know that they've historically done a lot on day three either. As I say, that it's going to be a big day. Like, looking at the last few years, you got Marco Wilson on day three. You got Shelton Rankin's on day three. you got Trayvion Williams on day three. So not like they've been super active on day three. Hayden Hurst was a day four.
Starting point is 00:29:14 And so was Cody Ford a day four. Von Bell was a day four where they kind of let the dust settle and see who the values and fits might be on day four. It feels like the positions that we wanted to see them attack, though, and linebacker and a couple of guys on the defensive interior really got picked over. especially linebacker man a bunch of those guys signed and the bengals might be playing musical chairs without a chair if chairs are linebackers maybe maybe the bosa thing is like a thing maybe joe just thinking about it like spent a couple days like you're right like what what's value like they'll
Starting point is 00:29:52 look at it and they'll be like well what can we get him for and then we get bosa and we get mafe and I'm talking like I'm Duke Tobin, but you get those guys and you're like, oh, well, we got those two instead of for the same cap number as we would have for O.A. And we have Boza and Mafei. I don't know. I just, I wonder if Duke and the whole crew there, they may view it that way. A lot of people have asked, are they done, James? There's a lot of very upset Bengals fans out there today. And I think it's fair to be upset because the Zanl and Hall deals really would have made sense for them
Starting point is 00:30:33 in a lot of ways. And we've talked a lot about those guys, obviously. A lot of times, though, what we talk about and what we see for them really doesn't line up with what they see for themselves. Sometimes it does. Sometimes they are in on players that we would like them to be in on. Sometimes they sign them. Sometimes they don't. I like
Starting point is 00:30:49 the cook in Maffa signings. I still do. But you need to see those complimentary pieces to finish the job. You need to round things out here. and continue to raise the level of that defense in the next couple of days. And maybe that involves exploring a trade. Maybe it involves some of these veterans that we've discussed. What do you think the next domino is for the Bengals?
Starting point is 00:31:11 Anything you want to throw a dark at here? Yeah, I think it's defensive line now. I think they're certainly going to pivot, and that'll be what they do. And I'd be in on Clowny, but maybe it's Bosa for them. and I don't know. I'm starting to convince myself that maybe that's the name we hear. Because I know, like I know they're working on stuff.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Like I know that for a fact. And our, our Lockdown Bengals Insiders group is aware of that because I shared that with them. And you can join. All you got to do is go to join subtext.com slash lockdown Bengals. But like, ooh, I just, I wonder what that is.
Starting point is 00:31:52 And if it was one of these deals that fell through, and we're like, man, that was great value. Or maybe it is a real pass rush, because I just know that they've been on the hunt and they have to know that Maffa wasn't enough from an edge standpoint. Like it's just not enough. You need more before the draft
Starting point is 00:32:12 because you don't know what's going to happen in the draft. So we'll see. We'll be very Bengals to leave one thing to the draft. This is what they have done for years. We'll see if they have a lot of things right now, linebacker and past rush. Yeah. So we'll have you cover when the Bengals do make their next move right here on the Lockdown Bengals podcast.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Until then, thanks for listening to this one. Hootay. Have a good one.
