Well, folks, they did it.
The Denver Broncos are back in the NFL playoffs following a dominant throttling of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Your final score on this Sunday, January the 3rd.
5th, 38, 2-0.
Broncos country, how are you feeling out there?

At least one more show this year, hopefully more,
as the Denver Broncos will now get ready to travel to Buffalo to take on the
Buffalo Bills in the first round of the NFL playoffs.
Absolutely love to see it.
This is a celebratory show.
You know, we'll get into kind of some of the X's and O's, obviously a great game from
Denver across the board.
Bo Nix was fantastic, but it was against the Kansas City Chiefs JV squad.
So I think the outcome of this game is not surprising.
I think I'm a little surprised at just how much they put the brakes on the Kansas City
Chiefs and just kind of ran up the score today.
but I'm also a little, maybe not surprised, but to shut them out in the final game of the year, man, that is going to give you some positive mojo, some positive juju as the Denver Broncos now move forward into the NFL playoffs for the first time. It's so hard for me to believe this, but it's true. The Broncos now back in the playoffs for the first time since 2015, the 2015-16 season, the last time the Denver Broncos played a playoff game, they walked off the field as Super Bowl champions.
tons of high or tons of highs obviously back then with Peyton Manning and Demarius Thomas and Von Miller and Akeem to leave and Derek Wolf and all those studs Chris Harris, right?
But since then, a lot of lows. A lot of lows for the Denver Broncos. But thankfully, thanks to Sean Peyton, thanks to Bo Nicks, thanks to Vance Joseph and Patrick Sartan and Nick Benito and Jonathan Cooper and Cortland Sutton and Devon Valet. The Denver Broncos are back.
in the NFL playoffs.
You absolutely love to see it.
I was a senior in high school the year that Denver Broncos won their last Super Bowl
to kind of put it in that,
the last time the Broncos last made the playoffs,
which also happens to be the last time they made the Super Bowl.
So it has been a long time coming.
I mean, you've had, you know, a young generation of Denver Bronco fans that, you know,
maybe we were too young to remember the Super Bowl or, you know,
maybe just became Broncos fans, you know, recently that have seen nothing but pain with this
organization for essentially the last decade.
And now after, you know, a decent year last year where Sean Payton was able to kind of lay
the foundation, got Russell Wilson the heck out of here, got his guy in Bo Nix,
Vance Joseph retooled and upheaved the Denver Broncos defense, some growing pains all
throughout the course of this season, but still, what a fantastic result, regardless
of what happens in Buffalo next week at the fact that the Denver Broncos are going back.
to the NFL postseason.
Remember, folks, the Broncos, before the year, you know, I saw my guy Cody Work,
who you guys all know from the Lockdown Broncos podcast,
he put out his clip kind of predicting them to win 10 games.
He was absolutely spot on and contend for a playoff spot.
Before the year started, all of the naysayers, all of the haters were talking about
how this is not only one of the worst teams in the NFL, but one of the worst rosters
in the NFL.
Well, news flash, everybody.
The Denver Broncos are, I don't want to say a completely upper echelon.
team, but boy, are they on their way to developing into a team that should be a force to be
reckoned with in years to come? Now, obviously, you still got the Kansas City Chiefs.
You've got the chargers to really good teams in the division, but the overall trajectory of
this season could not have been better for Broncos country who have been absolutely starved for
success for essentially a decade now. And like, it's crazy because if you would ask me before
the year, which I talked about not necessarily on this show, but on my radio show, my high
sports, all the different programs that we do, what was the expectation?
What did you want to see from the Denver Broncos this season?
The true answer was figure out if you got a guy at quarterback.
You know, ensure that you have at least a long-term answer or a long-term future, promise,
hope at the quarterback position, something that Denver has frankly been starved from
ever since Peyton Manning rode off into the sunset as a Super Bowl champion.
I mean, let's see if I can name every quarterback off the top of my head.
Obviously, you've got Trevor Simeon, you've got Paxton Lynch, you've got Drew Locke,
You've got Teddy two gloves.
You've got Jared Stidham from last year.
You had Case Keenham.
You had Joe Flacco.
Kendall Hinton for the emergency start.
I mean, it's almost like that meme of the Browns jersey
where it's just keep crossing off names and going down the list with different starting
quarterbacks.
Well, the Denver Broncos have their guy in Bo Nicks.
And Bo was absolutely phenomenal today.
After making some rough mistakes in the game against Cincinnati last week,
Bo came out and was absolutely electric today for the Denver Broncos.
26 for 29, only three incompletions.
He threw for 321 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions.
It had a quarterback rating of 152.4.
152.4.
Bo Nix is about as good as you can be,
as about as good as you could expect any quarterback to be any given Sunday.
And we'll talk about this a little bit later on in the program in regards to how this win,
despite the two losses leading up to this win.
And yes, this was a cupcake, right?
This was the JV squad for the Kansas City Chiefs.
You always love to be the Chiefs,
but it's not like you beat Patrick Mahomes
and Travis Kelsey and Chris Jones and all those boys, right?
Not trying to take anything away from the Denver Broncos,
but that's just the reality of the situation
is this was not a full strength, full effort
Ken City Chief's team today.
But a bit of a formality with the win today,
but I think the manner in which the Denver Broncos won this game,
I'm not picking them to upset at Buffalo.
is a darn good team. It's going to be a war up there if Denver wants to have a chance to win that one.
But this is exactly, exactly what you wanted to see from Denver heading into their first
playoff game in a decade. Build some momentum. Get the steam moving. Get this team fired up.
End the regular season on a high note. Don't just back into the playoffs. Feel good about how you got there.
And I think the Denver Broncos accomplished just that today with their 38 to nothing victory
over the division rival Kansas City Chiefs.
You absolutely love to see it.
Guys, appreciate y'all.

So if you want to get involved with that conversation,
head over to the Lockdown Sports Denver YouTube channel
that we guys never ever miss.
an episode of your lockdown Broncos postcast.
We've also got Nuggets content next year.
We did all the buffs games this year.
And let's see what I'm missing Rockies, of course,
which we'll get to in the spring in the summertime.
But for today, it is an absolute victory show as Denver throttles the Kansas City
Chiefs year final score 38 to nothing.
Denver finishes the season at 10 and 7, essentially doubling up their preseason win total.
Their over under was five and a half before the year.
And they soared past that.
I mean, I think they got their fifth win.
what early November or their sixth winter early November. Maybe it was late October.
I don't remember off the top of my head, but, you know, all expectations for this year have
been exceeded, in my opinion. And that's a kudos to Sean Payton. Like I said, we're going to dive
into, you know, kind of some big picture thoughts preview a little bit of this Buffalo matchup here
as we go along throughout the course of the show. But just to accomplish this, to make the playoffs
with a rookie quarterback with all of that dead money that you've had to absorb, right? Denver
was a bit ridiculed when they decided to move on from Russell Wilson because of the
dead cap hit and just kind of how it was affecting their finances overall.
You know, I don't want to say it was an unfavorable move because we know that,
you know, we just know that Russell Wilson wasn't going to work here in Denver,
but they had to take a hit that is essentially unprecedented in NFL history in regards
to taking that dead cap hit and trying to build the roster with significant cap restrictions
because of it.
And look, I still got questions about the running game.
I've still got questions about the wide receiver room.
Heck, I think, not that I have questions about Bo Nix, but he just needs experience under
his bill.
I mean, we saw him look like a rookie, you know, in a big game against the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
We saw him look like a rookie last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
How is he going to respond in cold weathered Buffalo with one of the most crazed and desperate fan bases in the NFL?
So it's going to be another stepping stone, another learning experience, regardless of what happens next week in Buffalo,
Bo Nick, Sean Pete, and the Broncos will be better because of it.
That's just the fact of the matter here, folks.
So for today, enjoy it, live it up.
Enjoy your Sunday night.
It's a victory Monday tomorrow.
It is a good day, a good year, a good time to be a Denver Bronco fan,
as they punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs with a 38 to nothing whooping.
They whooped the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wop them, chew them up and spit them out today to punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs for the first time
since they won Super Bowl 50, which honestly, folks, to me, feels like.
a lifetime ago. And I know I'm probably not the only one that feels that way.
So all right, let me hit my first break, guys. When we come back, we will continue along with
the conversation. We'll get into Sean Payton. We'll get into Bo Nix. We'll take a look at
Cortland Sutton's Day. We'll talk about that insane touchdown reception that we saw in the
first half of this game between the Broncos and the Chiefs. Plenty to talk about. Stick around
as I hit my break here real quick. We'll come back and do just that right here on your
locked on Broncos postcast. Back in just a moment, folks.

How are you feeling out there, Broncos country, the Denver Broncos getting the job done this afternoon over the Kansas City Chiefs.
38-2-0.
Absolutely stop the Chiefs.
Shut them out.
It is a good day, good time to be a Denver Bronco fan and a Denver Bronco better.
I'll get a word from our friends who are at Fan Duo coming up a little bit later.
Congratulations to anyone that bet the Broncos this afternoon.
But I'm your host, Neil Lopiro.

media at media by AP.
Do me a favor, guys, hit that like button and smash that subscribe button.
That way, you guys never, ever miss an episode of your Lockdown Broncos postcast on your
Locked on Sports Denver YouTube channel.
But as we mentioned here, let's dive into some of the statistics from the game today.
Bo Nix, 26 for 29, 321 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 152.4 pass rating,
more on Bo Nix in just a moment.
He also, you know, like I said, I have my questions about Denver's rushing attack.
He also was the Broncos leading Russia this afternoon, seven carries.
for 47 yards.
Jalila McLaughlin had 16 carries for 39 yards,
only an average of 2.4 yards per carry.
Audra Gestabay had 12 for 34.
Javante Williams had 5 for 28 as well.
So not a lot going on for the Broncos today in the run department,
but that's kind of been par for the course for them
throughout the course of the season.
But on the receiving department,
Cortland Sutton led the way today for Denver.
Five receptions for 98 yards,
an average of 19.6 yards per reception.
Yeah, we love to see that.
He had a touchdown reception.
And of course, that 47-yard reception from Bo Nix.
Cortland Sun also cashed an incentive today.
Let me see if I could pull this up because he became a much wealthier man with the win or with the game that he had today.
Hold on one second because I saw I have this bookmarked.
I want to give it to you straight here.
Yeah, he secured a half a million dollar bonus today to Cortland Sud.
with over, he had to have over 1,000 receiving yards today.
So shout out to court, man.
I'm sure he's happy.
Alex says, is this live?
Yes, it is life.
My friend,
come on into your locked out of Broncos postcast.
Appreciate you.
Let me know how you're feeling out there.
This is a live show.
But the Denver Broncos and Cortland Sutton today, man.
And Cortland, you know, now his first 1,000 yard receiving years since 2019,
the second of his career.
And remember, you know, it's funny, if you think back to this offseason, right?
Cortland Sutton, pretty, you know, pretty unsettled, a little disgruntled, you know,
you know, one of the contract extension, didn't show up to OTAs, you know,
and then kind of waltzes into mandatory minicamp, you know, do it his thing, this and that.
And then him, Sean Payton and George Payton in the front office have a little bit of a kumbaya,
which was absolutely essential to the success of this Denver Broncos team.
I mean, if Cortland Sutton is not on the Denver Broncos this year, I'll be honest.
I don't think that they make the playoffs.
And I think Cortland Sutton's a good receiver.
I don't put him in that elite tier, like I would put Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase or Mike Evans or whoever it might be, right?
C.D. Lamb.
But what Cortland Sutton did today, and really not just today, but throughout the course of the season, is provide some sort of stability for Bow Nix.
And Cortland Sutton is going to have to have a good game next week in Buffalo if Denver wants to have a chance to pull off the upset in the NFL playoffs.
But for today, man, Cortland Sutton, like I said, gets that half a million dollar incentive.
He's doing his thing.
Everybody's happy as the Denver Broncos take care of business against the Kansas City Chiefs today, 38 to nothing, your final score.
looking at it today as well. Marvin Mims Jr.
two touchdown receptions from Marvin,
five for 51. I mean,
so many different touchdowns today for the Denver Broncos.
So shout out to Marvin.
He's really been coming on as the season has gone along as well.
He's been cleaning up for the Denver Broncos.
So maybe that's your solid secondary option,
at least for this playoff game that you can try to rely on a little bit
here when you take on the Buffalo bills.
So Marvin's moving in the right direction.
Cortland's trending in the right direction.
And then how about Devon Vailay today, man?
Right place, right time.
Johnny on the spot, that touchdown pass in the, you know, throughout the course of the game.
Bo Nix throws the ball.
I think it was what, tipped off of Adam Troutman and then tipped off of a Kansas City Chiefs defender.
And then Devon Bailey, like I said, Johnny on the spot, hauls it in falling to the ground,
secures possession of the ball, both feet in touchdown Broncos.
I mean, that is one of, if not the best touchdown catch.
I think we've seen this year, certainly the best touchdown catch that we saw throughout the entire week 18th slate.
I know we still got a game left here between the Lions and the Vikings,
which will be a very fun one, all things considered with what's on the line for both of those teams.
But what a sick catch that was for Devon Valle, man.
And that kind of, I think, sums it up today for the Denver Broncos because they were able to pick apart this Kansas City Chiefs defense.
Now, my one objective cap, let's put that on here real quick.
Yes, you beat the Chiefs.
Yes, you love that.
You're happy that you're going back to the playoffs.
but this was against the JV Chiefs.
No Patrick Mahomes, no Travis Kelsey,
not a lot of starters played today, right?
So you take the win, as I said in the first segment,
this win felt a little bit more like a formality
than something that you're going to get riled up on.
You know, it's not like you beat the best version of the Chiefs, right?
And we've seen Denver in the two weeks prior to this game
struggle against some quality opponents in the Cincinnati Bengals
who are now knocked out and the Los Angeles Chargers in their division rivals.
So the Dolphins are no longer in the playoffs.
The Broncos secure that final postseason.
spot. But, you know, that's just definitely something to consider. So don't let that take anything away from the joy that you're experiencing today. Like I said, this was a team. I forget what their odds were before the year. But Denver wasn't even supposed to sniff the playoffs, not even sniff it. And they had three games to win one. Right after they beat the Colts. And that essentially knocked them out of playoff contention. You had three games to win one. And they got the one on the final try. You know, you lose to the Chargers, lose to the Bengals. But this week, you write all your wrongs and you get that one win. Alec here says we beat the
Bill's last year with Russ and a less talented roster.
100%.
But I think this year's Buffalo Bill's team is a lot better than last year's Buffalo
Bill's team.
I will say that as well.
And I just think that Buffalo, like I was talking about with a buddy as I was watching
the game today, if I had to make a bet right now on which team comes out of the
AFC, I'm probably betting Buffalo.
Just because I think they're dialed in, you know, you always got to worry about
Sean McDermott and some of his time management and play calling and all that good stuff
as well.
So look, it's going to be an exciting matchup.
Von Miller, you know, might have to, you know,
trying to bury his old team in the Denver Broncos.
So it's going to be a juicy matchup for sure next week.
And the NFL playoffs are always great, right?
But it's going to be a fun one between the Broncos and the bills next week.
So I'm definitely looking forward to that.
But like I said, I'll explain to you guys when I come back,
why despite the fact that it was against the Chief's JV team,
why this win was not obviously was a good win.
It was a much needed one to get the playoffs.
But why the manner in which they won matters for their playoff matchup next week against Buffalo.
We'll hit a quick break.
back and talk about it right here on your locked on Broncos postcast.
If you guys got any thoughts or opinions, let me know, drop some comments, hit that
like, like, button, smash that subscribe button.
We'll be right back here on your locked on Broncos postcast.

Check out our friends over at Banduel and let them know that Locked on Broncos sent you.
Okay, well, come on back into your Locked on Broncos postcast.
Final segment of the show here on this Sunday, January the 5th.
It felt like football weather out there today.
The sun was shining in Denver.
But it was a little chilly out there.
And the Denver Broncos got the job done today with a 38 to nothing victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
And as I mentioned before the last break we just took, you don't want to ever back into the NFL playoffs.
It's kind of the best way that I could put it.
Right.
Like you'd like to get in, but you'd like to have some feel good to go along with it.
And like I said, this was a J.B squad today for the Kansas City Chiefs.
but to me, the manner in which the Denver Broncos won this afternoon,
how they won, how they dominated both sides of the field,
offense and defense, regardless of who was playing for the Kansas City Chiefs,
that is exactly what you want to see from this Denver Broncos team
having to go into the Lions Den next week against the Buffalo Bills.
They beat the Bills last year with Russell Wilson.
Different roster for both teams.
I think the bills might be a little bit better this year than they were last year.
but a win today in the manner in which they got the job done,
build confidence,
builds momentum,
builds belief.
And if you're a Denver Bronco player,
fan coach,
whatever it might be,
that's fuel.
You keep those logs on the fire because you say,
look at what we just did last week against the Chiefs.
Again,
no Mojones,
no Kelsey,
it is what it is,
but look at what they do
when they play their very best.
Look at what they can do
when Bo Nix is weaving in and out of the pocket,
making big plays.
Cortland Sutton big play. Marvin Mims doing his thing. Devon Bailey doing his thing.
Offensive line giving him protection.
If Denver can score some points and play good defense,
which you expect them to do on defense,
they just might have a shot in this game.
There are a seven and a half point underdog on the opening line here.
So, you know, touchdown dog here in this matchup for the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills.
But a win like today goes a long way in building confidence
in this team's ability to go out there and get the job.
job done in Buffalo.
So get your popcorn ready, folks.
Get your popcorn ready.
Next week is going to be absolute cinema.
It's going to be a furious matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Buffalo Bills in the NFL playoffs.
I can't wait.
Let me know how you guys feel out there.
Broncos win in.
Drop some comments.
Let me know.
Give me some score predictions.
Let me know.
Should be a fun one.
And I'll close on this in regards to the Buffalo Bills matchup.
Von Miller.
Remember him?
All number 58, big time player,
Hall of Fame player,
future Denver Bronco ring of famer.
He and the Buffalo Bills will look to eliminate
the Denver Broncos from the playoffs when they match up next week.
That is going to be fun.
It's going to be juicy.
Vaughn, you know, is a Denver Bronco for life.
He talked about that.
He posts about them throughout the course of the year,
always showing love to the Broncos.
So I'm sure it's a little bit of a heart pull for him
to have to go up against his former team as a favorite
with the expectation that they will knock out the Denver Broncos.
He's not going to do many favors, right?
You expect Von to play hard and do his best.
But that just adds a little bit more fuel to this fire
for this playoff matchup next week between Buffalo and Denver.
You've got Von Miller, arguably one of if not the greatest defensive player
in Denver Broncos franchise history.
The team that he won a Super Bowl with for the city that he is so beloved
and even to this day, I can't wait, man.
I can't wait.
I'm sure Vaughn's going to have some awesome quotes.
I'm sure he's going to be fired up.
I'm sure the Broncos are going to be fired up.
It's a new generation, right?
Vance Joseph is defensive coordinator.
Von Miller's former head coach.
You got Patrick Chertan now.
You've got Nick Benito, big shoes to fill.
But Nick Benito is blazing his own path.
He'll try to play that disruptor role that Von Miller was so good at doing for so long in the orange and blue.
Can Nick Benito deliver a signature performance next week in Buffalo?
Man, I'm fired up.
I'm ready to go.
I am so stoked for this playoff matchup between Denver and Buffalo.
Let me know how you guys are feeling out there, man.
But kind of in conclusion for today's show, 38 to nothing,
an absolute bludgeoning of the Kansas City Chiefs,
as Sean Peyton, Bo Nix, Vance, Joseph, Cortland, Sutton, the whole nine,
they get the job done.
A little bit of theatrics with that amazing touchdown from Devon Valle.
That could be a touchdown of the year candidate.
You had Bo Nicks zipping the ball all across the field.
He had a sick lateral that ultimately was called back
because they deemed it to be a forward lateral,
but that was a sick play to watch in real time.
Carson Wendz did absolutely nothing for Kansas City,
10 of 17 for 98 yards.
I mean, Kansas City did nothing on offense today.
Absolutely nothing.
They finished the year 15 and 2.
Again, this was a throwaway game for them.
But for us here in Denver,
something to feel good about,
something to smile about.
As the Denver Broncos end the season
with a 10 and 7 record,
and now are back on the NFL playoffs
for the first time since walking off as Super Bowl champions,
as they look to take down the Buffalo Bills next weekend.
All right, folks.
That is going to do it for me on tonight's episode
of your Locked-on Broncos postcast.
Really appreciate all of y'all tapping in all throughout the course of the season.
Hope to see all of you guys next week on the show,
