You are Locked-on Broncos Postcast, powered by Mile High Sports, part of Locked-on Sports, Denver, on the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Wow, wow, wow.
Welcome on into your locked-on Broncos postcast.
I am your host, Anilo Piero.
Hope everybody, expecting everybody in Broncos country to be pumped up here at the moment as the Denver Broncos, not only,
put up a fight, but they managed to go into Philadelphia against the reigning, defending
Super Bowl champions down early in this game, fight their way back in the fourth quarter,
and they deliver an upset special taking down the Philadelphia Eagles here on Sunday morning
slash afternoon. Your final score, the Denver Broncos, 21, the Philadelphia Eagles, 17.
What a game. What a win. You heard Jim Nance and Tony Romo talking about it on the post game broadcast or at the end of the game.
This is a signature momentum building win for the Denver Broncos. This is the type of win that has alluded the Denver Broncos for quite some time.
Obviously, we were all pumped up about last year. The 10 and 7 back in the playoffs, Bo looks good, right?
But now it's time for this team to take the next step. And terrible losses to the Colts, tough loss to the Chargers, right?
bounce back on Monday football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
And what do they go out there and do on a short week?
The Denver Broncos with an exclamation point, waltz into Philadelphia with their backs against the wall down in this game and deliver an upset special.
Wow, wow, wow.
That's what it's all about, folks.
And, you know, there was a lot of people both locally and in the national media that were gassing up this Denver Broncos team.
Oh, they can contend for the AFC West.
Oh, they can contend in the AFC period.
Today, the result, the performance, that type of win shows you exactly why people think
the Denver Broncos can be a sleeper team in the AFC throughout the NFL.
This is a complete victory for the Broncos. Defense was stout throughout the course of the game.
Offense, down but not out.
Struggle to establish some momentum when they needed to go down, drive down the field and score,
they were able to do just that.
Bow Nix locked in in the moment.
Cortland Sutton went in doubt, find him.
Evan Ingram, welcome to the party.
Troy Franklin with a critical two-point conversion as well,
which we'll talk about here in a moment.
I mean, all in all, the Broncos bend,
but they did not break in this game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
And they are rewarded with their tough play
and their unwillingness to let go and give up in this game
with a 21 to 7 dub over the reigning defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.
Wow, love to see it.
Let me know your thoughts in the comment section, folks.
I see we already got that humming as well.
Do me a favor as well.
Hit that like button, smash that subscribe button.
that way you guys never, ever miss an episode of your Locked-on Broncos postcast.
Man, I am fired up here today.
I hope you guys are as well.
And real quick, today's episode of your Locked-on Broncos postcast is brought to you by
our friends over at Mazda.
Like our players, we sweat every detail because when you make every move count,
pulling off the unexpected is only the beginning.
Stay tuned for later on in the show for highlights in this week's moving the game forward.
Mazda move and be moved.
More from our friends over at Mazda here and just a little bit.
I see Dennis here says he lost his voice.
Hopefully you're recovering, my friend.
I'm sure there's a lot of Broncos fans out there that feel the same way.
You know, here's another one.
We beat the champs.
Keep them coming, folks.
Absolute best wins since Super Bowl 50?
It just might be.
It just might be the Broncos best wins since Super Bowl 50 now that I think about it.
You know, just especially in regards to like games that means something in a season that also means something.
Right.
Like the Broncos last year, it was all about, you know, kind of getting your feet wet back.
know, in the kiddie pool when it comes to competitive football and contending for the playoffs.
This year it's about building upon that.
And a win like this, again, after those two tough losses to the Chargers and the Colts,
respectively gives you a bit of a reset, gives you that optimism that had felt like it was
fleeting in and around this organization over the start, you know, over the last handful of
weeks to open up the season.
A win like today gets you back on track with all of those big picture aspirations and thoughts
and hopes for this Denver Broncos team.
So this was a gutsy, gutsy gut check emotional victory for the Denver Broncos,
one that you would think is going to help be able to establish some momentum for them moving forward.
And if you listen to last week's show, I talked about how if the Broncos were able to beat the Eagles,
they might just be able to go on a nice little run of wins here.
We'll get to that a little bit later on in the program,
but just not enough good things to say about the Denver Broncos today.
It was not the cleanest game from them offensively.
So if we want to get critical, if we want to nitpick, the body of work from the offense was not great.
of what you love to see from the offense is, one, the defense keeping them in the game,
not putting the weight of the world on Bo Nix's shoulders, keeping it manageable for Sean
Peyton and company, but also the offense's ability to respond, right?
Corton Sutton getting open and making big catches and big moments.
Bo Nix looking dialed in after having a bit of an up and down game.
But when the lights were the brightest, Bo Nix was locked in and ready to go.
Strong play calling from Sean Payton.
Bow Nix, not letting some of those misses and drops from earlier in the game kind of get in his
Ted, Evan Ingram, staying ready, staying active despite not being a major focal point in this Broncos' offense.
Despite the body of work from the Broncos on the offensive side of the ball today, when the pressure was at its highest, when the lights were the brightest, they delivered as a team and as a unit.
And that really helped push the Broncos to victory in this game.
So again, you didn't like what you saw from the entirety of the offense throughout the course of the game.
But when they had to have it, when their backs were against the wall, win or lose, the Broncos offense, man is.
to deliver. They were able to lean on their defense. They take care of business and the Broncos get the
dub. So we'll get into some stats here in just a moment as well, but just big picture thoughts.
This is just such an emotional victory for the Broncos, one that I think could only mean good things for
them moving forward. And frankly, this is the type of win that legitimizes the Denver Broncos.
There was a lot of people in the national media that, you know, we're maybe half in, half out on the
Broncos. Yeah, they're a good team, but they got the charges. They got the chiefs in their division, right?
Oh, Sean Payne, we're still not really sold on Bo Nix. Yeah, the defense is good, but how explosive is
the offense going to be. And, you know, a lot of those people were, you know, their thoughts were
confirmed after those two ugly losses. But now after a win like this against the Philadelphia
Eagles, you sit back and say, oh, now I understand why people thought the Broncos can contend
the AFC West. Now I understand what Sean Payton's trying to build. Now I see the vision with
Bonax. Oh yeah, you know what? This defense is one of the best defensive units in the NFL.
So a win like this gives the Broncos national attention for better or for worse, but should
legitimize the Broncos as a legitimate contending team. I'm not saying they're going to go out there
win the Super Bowl, but a team that can really make some noise in the AFC the rest of the way of this season.
So love that for sure. Let's hit a break. When we come back, we'll get into some specifics.
I thought Sean Peyton won the game for the Denver Broncos today. I think the defense obviously
did their part. And we talked about the offense as well with Bo Nixon company. But I think one
decision that Sean Peyton made in particular helped push the Denver Broncos to victory. What that is,
we'll talk about that next right here on your Locked on Broncos postcast. Back in just a moment,

They move crowds,
move culture,
and keep moving the game forward.
This week's moment that moved the game forward,
you could go a lot of different ways.
The defense as a whole,
Bo Nix and Evan Ingram locking in late there,
but I'm going to go with Sean Payton,
and I'll tell you why here in just a moment.
I thought Sean Payton absolutely positively set the Denver Broncos up for success today.
When you follow what moves you,
the unexpected is only the beginning.
And just like that there's more to every highlight, there's more to every Mazda vehicle.
Mazda move and be moved.

That way you guys never, ever miss an episode of all of your locked on Broncos content
right here on the YouTube channel.
All right, I teased it.
Let's talk about it.
I think Sean Payton won the Denver Broncos the game today over to Philadelphia Eagles.
Sean Payton, you know, there's the old saying or, you know,
there's the old kind of knowledge, right, of like,
when you go for the champion, you best not miss, right?
And the Broncos down, but not out early in this game.
But, you know, Philadelphia got out to a decent lead.
The offense wasn't playing well.
You know, you're wondering, can Bo Nix,
can this offense crawl this Broncos team out of a whole?
Well, the Broncos put together a really good drive.
I mean, the fourth quarter as a whole,
the Broncos outscored the Eagles 18 to zip.
This is the reigning defending Super Bowl champions in their
own building. And the Broncos held them to zero points while putting up 18 points of their own.
But obviously that touchdown drive was electric. Evan Ingram getting involved. We finally got to see
a little bit of that Joker role. Right. And that would have tied the game up at 1717 had the Broncos
elected to go for the extra point. But where I think Sean Payton won this game for the Denver Broncos
with the stones looked into the eyes of the Philadelphia Eagles, believed in his players, believed in
Bo Nix believed in the Broncos offense.
Instead of kicking the field goal to tie it up at 1717,
on the road against the reigning defending champs,
Sean Payton elects to go for two.
Elects to go for two,
a play that could make or break, win or lose this game for the Denver Broncos.
And what happens?
The Broncos cash in.
Chaching, an absolute beautiful play call.
Bo Nix talked about in the post game as well,
how they've been working through that play,
scheming that play, reppping that play,
practicing that play for a moment just like this.
So an excellent job from the Broncos offense to get the ball into the end zone,
but then a gutsy play call and a gutsy decision from Sean Payton to double down.
And instead of tying it up on the road against the defending champions,
putting an exclamation point and putting the pressure on the Eagles to have to go out there
and respond with the two-point conversion.
Broncos defense does what they do.
And the Denver Broncos walk off the field in Philadelphia as upset winners over the Eagles.
So I think Sean Payton, the willingness, the strength, the confidence to go for two in that situation, that scenario shows you that Sean and Bo ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
I know there was some conversation around Bo and Stead of and this and that because Boe wasn't playing well.
Sean Payton showed you the belief in the trust that he has in Bo Nix, even when he's not playing his best.
And for Sean to trust Bo in that scenario, I think tells you all you need to know about that relationship and that dynamic.
So I think Sean Peyton absolutely put the nail in the coffin.
Put the nail in the coffin today for the Denver Broncos.
He felt good about his defense.
They did just that.
All right, looking at some of the additional statistics.
Not a great day overall from Bo Nix, 24 for 39, 24242 passing yards,
but a critical touchdown there, as we alluded to,
a quarterback rating of 87.8.
J.K. Dobbins, having himself a nicely on the ground,
the 20 carries for the 79 yards and a touchdown.
That was huge.
when in doubt, find Cortland Sutton.
I mean, Cortland Sutton is the ultimate safety blanket for Bo Nix
in this Denver Broncos offense today.
You know, when you need a big third down conversion,
find Coralyn Sudd.
You need to play on fourth down, find Cortland Sun.
You need to get Bo Nix back in his mojo after a couple of off plays and off drive.
Just find Cortland Sutton.
Because Cortland Sutton put up some good numbers today,
eight receptions for 99 yards.
You know, really was that safety blanket for Bo Nix in this offense.
And I know there was a lot of conversation.
Oh, Bo, you know, maybe Cortland Sutton isn't a true number one ride receiver.
you know, why are we paying Cortland Sutton, this, that, the other.
So far this season, Cortland Sutton has held up his end of the bargain,
and he showed exactly why he is critical, absolutely critical,
to the overall infrastructure of this Denver Broncos offense and their inner workings.
So a great game from Cortland Sutton.
I really feel like he helped boost the confidence of the offense as a whole,
but also Bo Nix.
That's what your safety blanket number one wide receiver is there to do.
And court did that with the eight receptions for 99 yards.
Troy Frankum, three for 35.
Nice to see him get in the mix.
Evan Ingram four for 33, so not a huge stat line from him, but that touchdown was massive help put the Broncos ahead.
And all in all, you know, the Broncos did just enough on offense.
And frankly, that's probably what you got to do against the Philadelphia Eagles.
I mean, you're not going to go into Philadelphia especially with an offense that is still kind of searching for its identity.
Maybe they found that in this win here today.
But you can't realistically expect the Broncos to waltz into Philly and hang 30 plus on them or play in the same manner in which they did against the Cincinnati Bengals who were without Joe Burrow.
right this was always going to be a hard-fought close game and what you saw what was lacking from
the Denver Broncos in those two games against the charge and the Colts killer instinct that was
missing not existent for the Denver Broncos in those games boneheaded penalties unable to
complete big plays when you need them most the inconsistencies and the lack of a killer instinct
ultimately plagued the Denver Broncos in those two losses to the charges in the Colts
today I think you saw the Broncos learn from their mistakes and learn from those experiences that
they saw early in the season because we didn't see any boneheaded penalties and we saw the Broncos
on offense execute when they needed to in a variety of different ways.
And again, going for that two point conversion and executing that seamlessly, I think speaks to
the overall growth of this team and their offensive identity and really just their maturation
and their ability to become battle tested as the season goes along.
The defense holds up their end of the bargain.
The Broncos, you know, go up 1817 and you're feeling pretty good about their chances to come
away with a win because obviously when you go with the two point conversion,
that puts you up four instead of three.
And now you've got to look at Philadelphia.
As good as they are with Sequin and A.J. Brown and J.L.
Hurts, you got to try to go score seven on that Broncos defense.
So I think you saw the resiliency and the totality.
All of it kind of come together today for the Denver Broncos,
learning from their mistakes against the Chargers and the Colts
and putting that all together to result in a massive upset win
against the reigning defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles.
Love to see it.
So I think that's a major theme for today and from this win.
is the Broncos learn from their mistakes.
They're adjusting in real time.
They're adjusting on the fly.
And that can only mean good things for them.
All right.
Defense.
I feel like I've talked a lot about the offense.
But when you hold the Philadelphia Eagles to 17 points,
I mean, obviously you're doing something right.
You know, only 16 first downs today for the Eagles compared to 23 for the Broncos.
The Eagles were 2 and 11 on third down today.
Two for 11.
Again, this is Sequan Barkley.
this is Jalen Hertz, this is A.J. Brown. This is Devontas
this is an offense that boat race
the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl a year ago.
And the Broncos had him in the dog counts with only 17 points
and two for 11 on third down.
Nick Benito wreaking havoc.
Jonathan Allen doing things, or Zach Allen, excuse me,
making noise there in the past rush as well.
Pat Sartan doing his thing. Look, I know Riley Moss was picked on
a little bit in this game, but not enough to win the game for the Eagles.
The defense is a whole really held up today.
And I mean, looking at these stats, man,
Again, only 17 points for the Eagles.
Saquan Barkley, six carries for 30 yards.
Okay, Devonta Smith popped off with the 8 for 114 team.
Sequan Barkley, the second leading receiver of three receptions for 58 yards.
A.J. Brown, 5 for 43.
I mean, Jalen Hertz was 23 for 38, 280 passing yards, and two touchdowns.
I mean, the Broncos did a really good job of holding the Philadelphia Eagles,
not allowing big explosive plays to ultimately plague them in this game,
which is what you expect.
This is one of the best defense in the NFL.
I'm not saying the best, but one of the best.
So the defense did their job today.
But man, what a good day to be a Bronco fan.
What a good day to be the lockdown Broncos postcast host.
As the Denver Broncos get the job done, taking down the Eagles, 21 to 17.
All right, before we get out of here,
let's take a look at the upcoming schedule for the Broncos.
So, you know, here's kind of where we're at right now.
The Broncos get a big win against Cincinnati on Monday night football.
They have an upset victory on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.
So, you know, after a bad two losses in a row to the Colts and the charges,
it feels like the Broncos have a little bit of new life with two consecutive wins.
And if you look at the upcoming schedule, there's a really good opportunity for the Broncos to go out there and stack some more wins.
Next week in London, taking on the New York Jets, that's an early kickoff, but you should expect to win that game.
Broncos should be favored there.
So you go Jets in London, then home against the Giants, home against the Cowboys,
and then at the Houston Texans, followed by it back home against the Raiders.
So you're looking at the next five games for the Denver Broncos on top of this two-game win streak.
where the Broncos should be favored against the Jets, the Giants, the Cowboys,
maybe the Texans, and likely the Raiders as well.
So here you are now after two terrible losses and now two really strong wins in a row
with an opportunity to build your record up over these next five games.
The Broncos could not ask to be in a better position, a better situation right now
as we find ourselves in the beginning of October moving towards the middle of the NFL season.
So you got to feel good about this, man.
Got to feel good about where the Broncos are at.
Broncos are legit.
Yeah, I do think the Broncos are legit.
I do think that.
What else, folks?
Anything else?
You want to get off the chest?
This little victory celebration here on the show today is the Broncos upset the Philadelphia Eagles.
Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
Again, folks, hit that like button, smash that subscribe button.
That way you guys never, ever miss an episode.
Wow.
Wow.
What a fun game.
Don't you just love sports, man?
And I know it hurts when you're on the other side of the other side of the
these losses. I can't stand Philadelphia myself, so I was happy to see this. And it's the team
that I talk about. You know, you got to love that. We got one here. What were Bo Nix's stats?
Hold on. I clicked off here for just a moment. Bo Nix today was 24 for 39, 24242 passing yards,
and a touchdown, no interceptions. Quarterback rating of 87.8. Not great, but when the light
through the brightest and the Broncos needed a touchdown and needed a long drive, Bo Nix delivered. Point B.
All right, folks, that is going to do it for me.
on today's Locked on Broncos postcast.
Again, like button, subscribe button, hit those two on your way out the door.
Good win.
Sean Payton, Stones on the table, getting the job done.
Defense holds up.
Bow Nicks.
Everybody's happy.
All right, folks.
Enjoy it.
I mean, it's only 3 o'clock in the afternoon here in the Mile High City.
So you've got these afternoon games going on Sunday night football, of course.
Enjoy this win.
Bright and early next weekend as the Broncos get ready to take on the Jets in London.
But for now, it's a big upset victory.
Enjoy it, folks.
Talk to you guys next week.
