I'm Anilo Piro and some Denver Broncos players have had some things to say out there in San Francisco.
I'm Cody Rourke and the Denver Broncos need a true wide receiver one and I don't care if they have an attitude.
I'm Sarah Bredinger. Bring on the divas, baby. Let's go. It's the off season.
Let's get into it on today's Lacton Broncos squad show.
From the South Stans, it's the Broncos squad. Everything Denver
Broncos every week covering all the big hits and game changing plays from the mile high city the way only
the locked on podcast network can gear up and squad up the Broncos squad show starts now what's going on
broncos country it is your locked on bronco squad show on this friday february the sixth congratulations we
made it to the end of the week super bowl sunday coming up here in just a couple of days as well and
money to unpack here on the program today.
Anilo Piro, Cody Works, Sarah Bettinger.
Nick Ferguson, I believe, is running around San Francisco right now, probably at Radio
Road doing some of that stuff.
So we'll get a good little debrief from him once we get to next week, I'm sure.
I've heard a bunch of different stories and just thoughts about San Francisco this year.
We can get into that throughout the course of the program.
We've been at Radio Row before.
You know it's crazy.
I got this hat from Radio Row.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, it's radio Roe is.
awesome, man. That's what honestly, Radio Row
jump started, like, it launched my
career a little bit further. Yeah.
I remember when you and I were
ever, yeah, before you and I
were officially co-workers, like even before Lockdown, I remember
you know, there were some conversations that were had at Radio
Road that ended up making us co-workers there for a handful
of seasons. Obviously, we're still co-workers with the show,
but beyond the show as well. So,
yeah, it's really cool, man. I'm not going to lie.
Like, when the Broncos,
and this is just personally speaking, like,
the season in December kind of
wore me down a little bit, like especially in January.
It's like when they lost, I'm like, well, I was saying like going into the game.
I'm like, I can't really lose either way, right?
Like if they win, I'm going to Super Bowl.
I'm going to radio row.
Like, that's going to be awesome.
Like if they lose the game, I kind of get my life back for a couple of weeks just to
decompress here a little bit.
But as this week is played out, I'm not going to lie.
I've had a bit of fomo, just not being there, seeing some of the stuff that's
going on with social media, getting some free wings, the free food, you know,
all that kind of stuff as well.
It's a big vibe down there, Cody.
It's good.
No, it is.
And it's a great opportunity to network, meet athletes.
Man, it was, like I said, I loved my time at Radio Row.
But it was nice to kind of like take a break now.
You know, I'm growing out my beard.
You know, I think I'm going to let this grow.
Thank you.
We'll see where it goes.
You know, the hair is growing in a little bit longer.
I may just.
It's probably the longest I've ever seen your hair.
I may just go into something like, who is it, Grizzly Adams?
I think I'm going to become Grizzly Adams now going for.
You know, I just, just for fun.
Until I start saying, like, who the hell is this?
guy. We'll see how things go, man. But trying to get on Sarah's own. Sarah, you know what we should do?
We should. We should. We should. Let's just, let's do it right here. I don't know what you want.
My wife. If you can get my wife on board with it, I'm getting it. Everybody needs to comment on this
video on YouTube saying grow the beard, Sarah and the hair. And that way Sarah and I are just going to go
Grizzly Adams until after the NFL draft. I can see Sarah rocking like the like the like,
the big beard. I got a buddy that like not doesn't quite look like Sarah, but like similar to a
certain extent. He grows this thing out every now and again. I could see it for it's cold. You know,
that could be your excuse to your wife. Like, you know, you got to bundle up out there. Yeah,
absolutely. You got to make sure. I mean, even though, even in the Midwest, weird things are
happening. Like, I think it was in the 50s or 60s the other day, like crazy stuff. But at the
same time, you're right. I mean, you never know when those sub zero attempts are going to, you know,
creep up on you here in this part of the country. So I got to be ready. It's going to be. It's going to
63 degrees tomorrow here in Denver. I'm playing golf on February the 7th.
The wife and I're going to dinner. We got, we got, she's leaving next week for Valentine's Day.
So we got, you know, reservation.
He's dipping out on you, bro. What's up with that?
He's going to visit family back home. Wow. I thought you're her family now.
I mean, I am. You know, someone's got to stay home. Valentine's Day. No, no, I'm just giving you.
Real quick, before we get into some football, what are you guys getting your significant others for
Valentine's Day? Because like, before there's, you know, before there's
show before I put everything together. I'm like trying to pound my head against the wall.
So hopefully my girl's not watching this.
Any recommendations, especially from the listeners too.
Sarah, you go first, Mr. Maryman with four kids.
Yeah.
Well, you know, it's funny you ask this question, uh, because my wife and I are currently in
the midst of no spend February.
So we did with this is our third annual no spend February and it's done really well.
However, I will say that after years of asking for, uh,
For Christmas, my wife, I finally was able to get her.
I got her a Louis Vuitton, like, cross-body bag and a Louis Vuitton wallet.
So, like, that is the, within my house or a car, that is the most substantial purchase that I've ever made.
And I was proud to be able to do that, right?
I mean, it's thanks.
It's an opportunity to say thanks to everybody who listens to the show, like, to be able to save up for something like that and do something special for my wife.
That's part of part of my why of why I'm here, like why I love.
I love getting to do this.
Like, pinch myself every day that we get to talk about the freaking Broncos.
But, like, to be able to do stuff like that or take my kids to Disney, shoot, like, that's,
I feel like I'm living the dream all the time, my man.
Disney may have been more expensive than the Louis Vuitton bag with the price.
May.
It may be close.
It's a close rate.
Yeah, it's crazy.
It's crazy.
No, I'm going to figure something out.
I got a dinner reservation, so we'll have some fun with that.
Where did you get the dinner rest, too?
This Italian restaurant up in Louisville called Parma.
Very good.
Very good.
My dad is very strict with the Italian food that he likes and he co-signs this place.
I've been there a handful of times as well.
And my girl is pasta and all that.
I'm a barme.
I'm bakesidi.
So if they're vouching for it, you know, I'm with it.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
So, all right, any Valentine's Day recommendations?
What are you doing for the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl next year's on Valentine's Day.
So get your conversations out of the way now.
So that's going to be interesting.
but we always love to hear from you the fans as well.
And like Cody and I were talking about it in Sarah too, like before the show,
now that we're in offseason mode, like obviously we're going to talk plenty of Denver Broncos,
free agency, draft, OTAs, all that kind of stuff as well.
But you kind of get to kick back and have a little bit more fun here on the show
just because we're not having to react to news that comes out every hour,
on the hour, and preparing for a game.
So if you guys want to let your personality shine in the YouTube comments,
we would appreciate that.
But, okay, let's get into some serious Broncos conversation.
here. Before we do that, though, today's
episode is brought to you by our friends over at Fanduil.
It's the last call for football
on Fandul if you're a new customer betts is $5 and get $200
and bonus bets if you win.
Okay, why don't we start with NFL honors
where it was a ghost show for the Denver Broncos?
I don't think it's that surprising.
Also, before we talk about it from the Broncos perspective,
did you guys see this one voter who voted for Justin Herbert to be
MVP and was like the deciding
brother between Drake May and
Matt and Matt Stafford. That is absurd.
Like what are we doing here, bro?
He at least took credit
for it. Sam Monson
from Pro Football Focus.
I think that
I think that people like this should not be allowed
to have a vote. You know what I'm saying?
Like when you're trying
to deliberately go
against the grain instead of like
nearly robbing Matthew Stafford
of a MVP, this
year is a complete joke. Like, I know Stafford may have been, you know, neck and neck with some other
guys, and he had some dud games. And we talked about it before on this show, like, hey, there's not
necessarily like a clear cut MVP. But Stafford was, in my opinion, head and shoulders above Drake
May as an MVP candidate. I mean, just, just dialed in the lowest interception percentage of his career,
one of the highest touchdown percentages of his career. I mean, he was locked in. And so he, to me,
was the obvious MVP to give a vote to Justin Herbert
because he dragged the chargers to the seventh seed.
It's a bunch of bull crap.
And I don't think people like that should have a vote.
I don't think we talked about the Hall of Fame on our last show, right?
I think these people should have their privilege taken away.
And it's just ridiculous, guys.
Like, to me, not that Justin Herbert doesn't deserve credit for what he did,
but to get an actual, like, legitimate MVP vote from somebody whose vote matters,
that is stupid.
It's like the Kanye West right-ins for president back in the day.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, give me a break with this stuff.
I, um, you know, I would say like Justin Herbert started off the season.
I'd say the first five or six weeks as an MVP candidate, but fizzled out.
Like, does it Baker Mayfield?
Like, for comparison's sake.
100%, right?
Justin Herbert had a terrific year, all circumstances,
is considered, but nowhere, in no way, shape, or form should he have been in the MVP
conversation.
You know, I look at what Matthew Stafford was able to do this year.
I mean, that dude at his age was slinging the damn pill.
And he's coming back for yet another year next year.
I didn't even think it was, you know, people were talking about Drake May.
In my opinion, I didn't think it was close.
I was like, hey, it's Matthew Stafford.
Me too.
Drake May had a hell of a season, not taking anything away from him.
But in comparison to Matthew Stafford, not even close.
And people are like, well, Drake Mays in the Super Bowl, it doesn't matter.
It's a regular season award.
It didn't matter at that point.
And Justin Herbert was good, but he was not Matthew Stafford level, not even close.
Couldn't even sniff a fart being that close to it.
Yeah, I think he would, too.
He would try.
He would.
I think I can make a stronger case for Bo Nix MVP over.
100%.
What about Bo Nix and no percent is a potential MVP candidate?
I agree.
Like the come from behind wins.
Like, yeah.
I just, it's been a rough week for voters.
I mean, the Hall of Fame with Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft and now this.
I mean, it's just like, I don't know if it's ego.
I don't know what it is, but it's ridiculous some of the voting that's been going on
the last week and a half with the NFL.
They need to reveal who all the voters are, plain and simple.
Yes.
Yeah.
Like, this isn't like a political, you know, world game where like life and death and like
significant amounts of money, like, you know, world economics are on the line here.
This is.
Well, you get these nerd number dudes with.
Oh, here we go.
Your username, you get them a vote.
Then, of course, you get stupid results because of it.
Yeah.
No, I just, I saw that as well.
But back to the Broncos here, no one getting honored, you know, with an award there last night.
Miles Garrett winning defensive player of the year.
Look, I thought Benito had a nice season.
I know he was one of the finalists for the award.
It was Miles Garrett's award.
Like, I don't really have any frustration towards that one.
I mean, what?
He broke the single season sack record this year for the, for the,
Cleveland Browns. He will be without defensive coordinator
Jim Schwartz entering into next season.
That was made official this morning that he's stepping
away. He was frustrated about not getting
the head coaching vacancy out there in Cleveland, but I have no
qualms with Miles Garrett-Waing the award over Nick Benito guys.
No, I was surprised it wasn't unanimous, though. That was my thing.
Again, like, what do we literally?
Way from these clowns, dude.
Remember what they said, what's the guy say from the dark night?
He's like, enough from the clown.
You know, that's where I'm at, that's where I'm at
these voters.
I mean, what is the
criteria to get a vote these days? Because they're
handing it out to every, you know,
John, Jacob, Jingleheimer, and Schmidt
out there. My goodness. It's like this circus
show going on. Miles
100%
well deserving of that role.
No matter how good. Like Nick Benito at one point
of the year was like, yeah, he was
the favorite. And then, you know, he kind of had some
games where he didn't have that much, you know,
production, you know, at that point.
And obviously, he just had surgery. You know,
I talked to somebody yesterday.
I just reached out and I asked, hey, is it just,
we've seen him with the clubbed up wrist all year.
And they're like, hey, it was just a cleanup from that injury.
He suffered that all the way in week two against the Colts.
So he's been playing through that kind of all year.
Happened to be the one risk that knocked the way Marcus Mariotas passed.
So, you know, I think, yeah, he's going to be fine for the offseason program.
But, yeah, not a question, Miles Garrett.
What about Protector of the Year?
Denver had two finalists, Quinn Miners, Garrett Bulls, out of the, what, five total participants.
Joe Tooney of Chicago gets the award.
I felt like I felt like Garrett had a really good case.
I feel like he really did.
And I will say like that was not voted on by these clown show people.
This was actually voted on by a panel of former offensive linemen.
So it's like, I mean, I could see it.
I think they view interior guard play is probably more valuable right now.
then maybe tackle play yeah that was a good call honestly like you could have you could have
given that award to either of those guys and i think you know what you just kind of give them a golf
clap like absolutely if if garrett would have won it i think that anybody that was for joe tuny
winning that award would have been like yeah had a great season but joe tuny i mean yeah might
have been the pickup of the off season dude that was crazy i mean what he did to help transform that
group crazy. I can't believe this week. Here's an idea. Here's how you get rid of the idiot voters
and their their dumb ideology. Here's what you do. You create a panel, right? The protector of the
year is a panel of former offensive linemen, period, some of the best that have ever played.
Why not make the MVP voting a panel of some of like the former MVPs that have won there no
longer playing NFL in today's game, right? Get those guys on a panel to vote for it. Make it 10,
10 total people or eight, whatever it may be, and let them go through and vote.
Same thing will come back player of the year.
Like guys who've won that award before, like let those people vote on it because they know the
criteria.
I think that's how the award voting should go.
And then coach of the year, why don't you let just other coaches as well?
You know, just put this panel together.
It's not that hard.
We have seen that the media, and unfortunately, we're in the media game.
So it makes us look bad, guilty by association.
But the freaking media, they don't even, most these guys don't.
don't even watch games.
Like that's the thing that bothers me.
They watch box scores.
They watch PFF grades.
They look at all this stuff that doesn't matter.
Like that's why social media has brain rotted a lot of like football conversation because
of these people who don't actually watch the games.
Make it make it the game.
Make it the people who've played and coached that vote on this stuff.
That would change.
I've always said this and I don't mean this as a jab to the media because I actually
think we have a pretty good crop of local media here in Denver.
think we do a good job.
But like sometimes the vibe that I get from like just other media outlets and just,
you know, national media and like people that work and get these votes sometimes.
It's like theater kids that never made it.
And I don't mean that in a bad way.
Like there's nothing wrong with theater.
There's nothing wrong with that at all.
But it's like very much like me, me, me, me, me.
I'm so important.
Right.
Like look at me.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Like just that type of energy.
And it's just like, like Bill Belichick to not be a unanimous.
And I know that that's voted on by different peers like Tony Dundon.
you might be the ringleader of that.
But the fact that Bill Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer is a straight-up disgrace.
It's disgrace.
Robert Jerry Jones got into the Hall of Fame before Robert Crafted.
Robert Craft has been to, what, 13 Super Bowls in the time since Jerry last bit went to one?
Like, you can't even rationalize this stuff.
Well, I like it.
It's just.
I've been in a Hall of Fame, but, you know, God, yeah.
I'm more.
I mean, what's the next?
Tom Brady's not going to be first ballot?
Like, is that what we're going here?
Like if we're going to follow the leader, right?
You know, okay, Belichick, no.
Kraft, no.
Like what?
So now you're going to put Tom Brady and isn't it hypocritical to put them in?
It shows a solid, man.
Yeah, it's just, it's ridiculous.
Mike Chantan's not even in the freaking Hall of Fame and that's what pisses me off more than you.
He's got the biggest.
Is the prototype.
You look at how many teams are running his scheme, his system, his tree, his coaching tree is thriving and the branches keep growing.
And it's just like, my gosh.
Yeah.
I know in the NBA, like, you know, there was that conversation for years upon years about Nicole Yoko's with the MVP.
Like, part of the reason, like, some of these other guys get the awards is because, like, some of these analysts that vote and talk about this are in the pockets of the agents and the representation of guys that they want to get the award for.
So, like, there's a whole game beyond the game.
It's not straight up when it comes to these awards.
But yeah, Garrett Bulls, NADA and Nick Panito, NADA, with respect to the awards that came out last night.
don't think it's a bad thing overall. I don't think I don't think anyone was like clearly robbed.
I'll put it that way, guys. I'm okay with the results either way. Like I'm not like if
Curtan didn't get defensive player the year last year, I would have gone crazy.
I would have been, man, I would have a lot of lost my mind because who is that they were like
Zach Bonn. I was like, man, Zach Bond had anywhere close to what Pat had.
Yeah. Where was Zach Bond this year? I mean, I'm sure he made place, but I mean, we didn't hear
much about it. You can see me. All right, let's, let's hit our first break when we come back.
Let's continue along with the conversation.
A couple of injury updates.
Yeah, we'll do some Hall of Fame stuff as well.
And we'll have some fun with that.
I saw some of the names that got elected.
And I was like, my God.
I was like, this is.
Studs on there.
No, I know.
It's just like it's already five years for these guys.
Like, it's crazy.
So we'll hit a quick break.
We'll come back and continue along with the conversation right here on the squad show.

Look at you.
Off season, Cody.
It's like a new man.
You should see this guy when I walk into practice some days.
Oh, what's up, bro?
Oh, another day, bro.
Now he's like the life is back in his eyes here.
Let's go.
Yeah, no, I feel you.
I know you're a Jay Cole fan.
Any early thoughts on the album that came out last night?
Absolute banger.
At 10 o'clock, you know what I did?
Put the AirPods in.
The wife was sleeping next to me.
And I was like, babe, sorry.
I'm listening to music.
10 o'clock, that's late for you, bro.
You're asleep by 8.30 usually.
Yeah, usually I am.
I'm usually in bed at that point.
But, you know, I had to stay up to rock my man Cole, man.
You know, it's good times.
I'm just in a good mood today.
I'm fired up.
I'm about to take a nap after this.
It's probably going to be fun.
Look at that.
Look at that.
No, that's awesome.
I'm probably going to check out the album after this show as well.
So, okay, back on track here at the Broncos conversation.
Cody, you hinted at it.
Nick Benito posted on Instagram.
I believe it was yesterday that he went under
under the knife, had a cleanup procedure.
Jaday Barron also put a post up as well.
No red flags, though, necessarily.
This seems like the surgery pictures that we've seen that we know about are mere formalities for the guys from the Broncos.
Yeah, yeah, nothing to be concerned about.
I think like with Jada, you know, I don't think we really knew of anything that was kind of bothering him throughout this season.
You know, he didn't pop up in the injury report, whereas Benito, we knew he was on the injury report all the time, dealing with things left and right.
but usually this is the time where guys go through and they get their off season they call it,
which I got to get better at saying this, clean up procedures.
Like think about it this way.
Going under the knife is going under the knife.
People are like, oh, cleanup procedure, nothing.
It still requires some time, some healing, some rehab and things like that.
But Benito is going to be good.
Unclear what Jadae's is at this point.
But I will say it definitely creates speculation.
And I just, I did not like the response from.
lot of fans towards jade like you know i posted that there and there were a lot of fans like oh yeah well
he barely played how could he have got like like oh my god just rude stuff it's like man
if these guys got to know you i mean ap you see like jade's such a nice young man such a humble
dude very respectful um does things the right way just like man why are we trying to tear down a
young player like you know and people are like whoa he's a first round pick he had first
round expectations is like he's a first round pick that got drafted to the deepest and
cornerback room in the national football league
You know, the expectations for him
aren't going to be your standard for a first round pick.
But no, I like Judea a lot.
But, yeah, that stuff would just bothersome to me.
My body hurt last weekend after playing nine holes of golf.
Like, I mean, I understand first round pick didn't play a lot,
but it's like you're going to get banged up.
Like, you know, it's like a freight train crash when you play football, right?
I mean, it's just naturally going to happen.
So I don't know.
I'm never going to tell a fan how to fan,
but I disagree with that assessment.
I mean, what?
Bo Nix had a cleanup surgery after we're calling it last season
or two seasons ago now, however you want to frame it.
It's part of the process, right?
Like, I'm not going crazy about any of this stuff, Sarah.
No, I'm not either.
What I'm going crazy about is I just sent you guys in the group chat right now.
I'm talking, like, let's get a real power couple in the NFL.
Like, I'm done with the Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift stuff.
We're talking about Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton, right?
The Broncos heart owner.
and already we already know that Melody Hobson,
one of the part owners of the Denver Broncos,
is married to George Lucas,
who needs no introduction.
I did not know that.
That's why he was at the game.
I just thought George Lucas wanted to see some football.
Let's go.
I did not know that he was there.
That is the kind of information I need.
I think it was the playoff game against Buffalo,
if not the last regular season game against the Chargers.
My gosh.
We are blessed.
I mean,
Look at that.
Look, Kim Kardashian in Denver for games this year.
Can we see it?
I know Sir Lewis just made his...
You want that?
I do.
Absolutely.
You're not afraid of the Kardashian curse?
I never.
No, no, no, no.
I don't think Chris Humphreys, Lamar Odom.
I'm not.
Lamar Odom is a different one, but you know, Kanye, you're talking about the Kanye.
I am, yeah, I am 100% on board for this, guys.
I just, I am.
Yeah, I get.
I mean, I get it.
But like, I'd be rocking the Travis Scots, you know, all this stuff.
I don't think he's part of the picture anymore at this point.
We're getting, we're really diving into a deep rabbit hole here.
Yeah, Kylie's dating.
She's dating Timothy Shalame right now is what this is that right.
The chosen one.
Timothy Shalameh, his character in Dune really represents what Bo Nix means to the Broncos franchise.
He's the Lisan al-Gaibe.
You know what I'm saying?
He's going to ride the giant, you know,
sand thing and, you know, lead us to the promised land.
That's what's going to happen.
So, yeah, I think that, look, guys, this is great news as far as just the Broncos being in all realms of all aspects of the news at this point.
Hey, Condoleza Rice was almost the Brown's head coach, according to show.
Yeah.
She got very smart football backer.
I'll say this, like, I don't think we got to worry about Kim Kay cursing the Broncos.
I think more so you got to worry about Lewis Hamilton's racing career.
Maybe you'd get incursed, if anything.
Yeah, exactly.
That's funny penalties.
No harm, no foul.
Yeah.
I don't know what I'd do if I was walking up to a game and I saw Kim Kardashian in the elevator.
I'd probably be like.
And then George Lucas right behind.
I mean, I've already been in an elevator with Sierra and she was so nice.
When her and was that at Radio Row?
No, this was in L.A. like for the Monday night game.
You know, I got to the hotel, got in the elevator.
I pressed it and someone's like, hey, can you hold the elevator?
And it's Sierra.
And of course it's Sierra.
It's Little Future.
It's a, they're security guys.
And they were like the nicest, they were the nicest people to me.
Love that.
So I was like, man, it was like, that's cool.
Yeah, no, I'm with you.
I'm with you.
It is always cool.
And I think for the listeners, like, you know, Cody, you and I have had the
opportunity to be around these athletes and celebrities.
Like, I've met a couple at radio where like they're just people.
Like, I haven't really met many people that are like, you know, stuck up, you know,
looking up at you or anything like that.
I'm sure there's a couple of them have, but who?
Shannon.
To me?
No, remember, like, not to us, but like you saw other people like Shannon Sharp towards other people.
They're trying to take pictures.
Yeah.
Oh, that's different.
He gave us a head nod, though.
Yeah.
I've done some stuff with Shannon.
I had him sign some magazines.
He's always,
they're always,
it honestly depends on when you catch him.
Like if they're trying to do something, right?
You see Skip and Stephen A getting back in the arena together today?
No, I don't like that.
I love prime first day with those two.
Yeah, it ain't,
it ain't like that.
No.
No, you're not wrong.
We saw Terrell Davis is out there on Radio Road.
No appearance from Sean Payton yet.
Sean, I feel like I've seen.
I've been to three of these things.
He's in Cabo?
Oh, no.
With McVeigh?
He actually went there, huh?
He, yeah.
So he just, because Drew just got inducted to the Hall of Fame.
So he did like a TV interview with New Orleans station.
He's over there in Cabo and he's talking about how Drew's got a house in
Cabo that's being built right down the road from himself.
Wow.
That's a nice to be a Hall of Fame quarterback.
He is up there with McVeigh, though.
I'm sure he is.
Yeah, I saw that picture going around on social media,
Stafford, all of them.
Real quick, some Broncos news before conversations,
not really news.
I saw this because I saw this online,
Troy Franklin out there at Radio Row,
kind of setting some expectations for himself for next year.
He wants to essentially double his production
in the reception game, touchdown game as well.
Look, I think they're going to need that.
And we'll have plenty of conversation about
this wide receiver room and this offense kind of as the offseason pulls, you know, plays out a little bit here.
But I think Troy Franklin, like one of the conversations, I forget if it was the last show or last week that we kind of had is who's going to kind of firmly assert themselves in that wide receiver room?
Because you have Troy Franklin, right?
You've got Marvin Mim.
You've got Pat Bryant.
And you've got Cortland Sutton.
So I like Troy Franklin coming out and saying what he's saying, Cody, because I think he's got the skill set.
I know you've got a good relationship with him.
Talking about Troy in this offense moving forward.
Yeah, I mean, I like what he had to say.
And look, I even feel like for him, like his production where he was at early on, he was on a great pace, right?
You know, we talk about the drops here and there.
I mean, that stuff, I don't think he's been as big of an issue compared to where it was early on.
But, man, he took a massive step forward this past season.
You know, for him, now it's like he wants double the touchdowns.
He wants to hit over a thousand yards receiving.
But one thing he said is he's trying to go into training camp next year at 195 pounds.
like that's 10 pounds heavier than where he is right now.
Yeah.
So it's like, okay, so he's going to really focus on putting the muscle together where,
like I'm okay with that.
Like if that's what he can do, if he can put that muscle on and, you know,
get that strength,
I think that'll be a huge aspect of his game because I think he is
shifty enough to move and run routes to the point where he can create separation.
But I think adding some physicality and some strength to his game,
I think that's going to only better serve him.
That's going to allow him to go out there and do some of those things.
Yeah, I would agree. Here's the quote from Troy from the Denver Post.
He said, I'm going to get a thousand yards season.
I'm going to double up the touchdowns and receptions.
I need to probably get about 80 or 100.
He also relayed the message there about wanting to up the weight for him coming in to next season.
And just kind of comparing contrasting, he essentially double his production from 2024 to 2025.
He had 28 receptions in 24, 65 last season, 263 receiving yards in his rookie season,
7-09 this year, two touchdowns in his rookie season to six last season.
So if we're going to kind of use that as a sample size, Sarah, you know, Troy has that connection,
obviously with Beau going back to Oregon.
You know, maybe that's the guy we keep our eye on here heading into the next season to emerge
from that wide receiver room.
I think he's got it in him, right?
I was really disappointed that we didn't get the chance to see him contribute to the
playoff run.
That was really a shame.
I know he went down against Buffalo early with the hamstring, didn't get to play in the
a FC championship game. Nobody talks about that though. Nobody talks about all the guys the
Broncos are missing. They only talk about the plays that they missed. But yeah, I mean, Troy was one of
those important pieces all throughout the course of the year and especially in the red zone.
Like that's one of the most surprising things to me that you see whether it's red zone or
two point situations that the Broncos consistently have gone to Troy in his first two years of his
career. And I know that yes, he has struggled with drops, but at the same time for him to be the most
trust. Yeah, who hasn't in this Broncos team, right? But I think that's a really great observation for
fans to understand right now is that when the Broncos got into that tight red or when they were
in the red zone in general, we, I don't think we've really seen Troy's deep ball abilities
unlocked all the way. I mean, so there's so much more to his game. I'm interested to see what
Davis Webb, that's the whole like everything kind of pulls back. That's the gravitational pull right now,
isn't it?
Like, what is Davis Webb's, you know, influence going to be to getting Troy to that point?
And all these players, by the way, you're bringing up player quotes from Super Bowl Radio Row.
None of these players are saying, oh, no, I don't think Davis is calling plays.
They're all kind of leaving that door open because I think they've been told they don't say anything about it.
But that's just me putting on the tin foil hat.
But I am interested to tie it together, like Troy's involvement this coming season and beyond,
how much of an influence can Davis have in terms of.
terms of getting him the ball more.
Yeah, and to be fair, it was James Palmer that I heard say this.
I don't, and he wasn't reporting this.
I think it's just speculation.
Like, I don't think the Broncos or Sean Payne that made up their mind about play
calling yet, nor do they need to make up their mind this early into the off season.
That's probably a real conversation that has, that happens, you know, closer to the draft,
closer to the springtime, closer to training camp.
Like, I don't think we're going to, I, here's my bold prediction.
I don't know how bold it is.
I don't think we'll have a firm answer one way or the other by the time we get to the first
preseason.
Maybe it will be what play.
out on the sideline.
I think this is going to be a continuous conversation going on throughout training camp, Cody.
I really do.
Maybe.
Or maybe it does start there where it's like maybe Sean lets him call all three preseason
games, right?
Maybe that's something he does.
But here's the thing.
Adam Schaefter, I did catch an interview.
Adam Schaefter had and he said if he had to bet, if he had to put money on it,
he would bet that Davis Webb was going to call plays.
Interesting.
So, I mean, I don't know.
like Sarah and I have had this conversation on a regular show about, hey, like, this actually
might be a good thing.
And this isn't an indication of Sean Payton as a play caller.
We know he's a great play caller.
It's, hey, can Sean trust Davis Webb to call plays while he could just manage the game
and deal with the officials and say, hey, like on this, we need a measurement on this.
Like, what's the measurement?
That way he's not juggling.
Or are we getting a measurement?
Oh, I got to get to play.
And, oh, what personnel are they in?
You know, we got to figure out what we're sending in at that point.
Like, have that go to Davis.
And I very much think there's a strong level of trust there.
Like that's the thing.
People are like, oh, like, you know, Sean will never do that for Davis.
I'm like, these guys have been, if you go to practice and you watch them, man, they are always talking to each other.
They have a great relationship.
And I think if Sean has an opportunity to maybe expand wherever he's at, whatever he has left, we don't know what that is going to be.
I mean, it could be five to six, seven years.
It could be shorter than that.
To another coach, Sean would do that with an offensive mind.
like Davis.
I think it was him.
Right, right.
I also think it's reasonable to assume, given the head coaching opportunities that were
presented to him or he interviewed for, paired with the Joe Brady comment about it,
they brought him in, he would have called plays.
I think it's fair to assume that that conversation took place in the negotiation with
Davis Webb to promote him to offensive coordinator.
I'm not saying there's necessarily an expectation firmly of all the plays, no plays,
but I think you'll see a lot more Davis Webb influence in this offense in some capacity or
another.
He didn't give it away, but he was like, you know, someone's like,
what would you get?
Like, what do you think you guys would get offensively if Davis was complex?
Like, watch the preseason game against Arizona.
Ooh.
I like that.
You had two touchdowns in the first half of that game.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Okay, let's hit a quick break.
We'll come back.
Let's continue along some more Radio Rose stuff, a little housekeeping.
Let's do Hall of Fame and Super Bowl in the final segment.
We'll kind of get ready for Sunday and we'll kind of give some thoughts.
on that game as well and just reflect on some of these guys that got in to the Hall of Fame.
So we'll hit a quick break.
We'll come back and continue along with the conversation right here on your Lockdown Bronco squad show.

Okay, well, come on back into the program.
AP Cody Works, Sarah Bedinger, Nick Ferguson is on assignment.
He will rejoin us next week.
I'm sure he'll have some fun war stories being down there at Radio Row in San Francisco.
If you're watching on YouTube, we appreciate you guys.
Hit that like button, smash that subscribe button really helps us out here on the channel.
And for all of our audio listeners, you guys rock as well.
appreciate each and every one of you.
I have heard it's a logistical nightmare out there in San Francisco.
So if we were covering, I heard it took on Monday an hour and a half to get from the media
center to San Jose where they're doing like the team interviews and all that kind of stuff
as well.
And also I think it was Nikki Javala that posted a picture.
Like usually they do it like in the stadium.
Like there's no aura with San Francisco right now, it seems.
Just from what I've gathered from some people that I know that are down there, Cody.
Just a lot.
I mean, it's to go from one.
place to the other, it's chaos. You know, it was kind of similar. I remember when we went to
LA for Radio Row back at Super Bowl 56. And, you know, even in, even when they were like,
they're in Phoenix, you know, as well when we went, what Super Bowl was that? Do you remember the guy who
was free-selling the skyscraper in Phoenix next to the media center? Do you remember that?
Yeah, that was like, bro, what are you doing? That was the, that was the crazy. I was like, I'm like
walking with my Dunkin' Donuts coffee in the morning, like trying to get ready to go do work. And there's this
dude just like Spider-Man climbing this building. I think he did it for like a charitable cause or
something like that. Well, they created a Netflix show off of it, apparently. Which was crazy.
But do you know who that guy is? No, right? You couldn't pay me $10 million to climb or do anything with
Heights. Bro, I hate it. I'm terrified. If you haven't watched it, go watch the, it's called Free Solo,
the documentary. He Free Solo's El Capitan out there in California. You know he survives, obviously. And
free-selling, for those you that don't know, is climbing with no equipment,
except for like chalk.
So like no ropes.
Like if you fall,
it's good night.
See you in the afterlife, right?
You know he's going to survive.
It is still like the most anxiety-inducing thing I've ever watched in my life, dude.
Like it is absolutely unbelievable.
Not my thing, brother.
I can't do it.
It's terrify me.
Yeah, me too, dude.
I don't even like flying.
And I know that I'm in a plane, right?
Like it's just, yeah.
But yeah.
So we'll get some updates there from Nick Ferguson.
I'm sure that he's having a good time,
getting some interviews,
all that good stuff down there at Radio Row.
So Kay Adams had Nick Benito and Pat Sertan on her program earlier this week.
And look, we don't need to really dive super deep into this, but there is a bit of,
I don't want to, it's not remorse.
It's not frustration.
Maybe it's acceptance.
Like this team felt like they were going to the Super Bowl, man.
And I go back to what Alex Singleton said at Locker Cleanout Day, if you want to call
out that about how, you know, he's from California.
They were having Airbnb's booked, right?
Flight's booked, like the expectation from this team.
going into the AFC championship game against New England was they were going to win that game and go on to Santa Clara and playing Super Bowl 60.
And, you know, Benito and Certan echoed as much at Radio Row.
So good for them for showing up and doing the thing.
I'm sure they're getting a bag with their sponsorships as well.
But it is a bit of, you know, what could have been, right?
That was the thought, right, with this team this season.
That's what stinks about this whole, you know, the whole outcome, like the shenanigans of it.
It's just like, man, Denver was just a couple of it.
here and there, right?
You let them shenan once.
They'll shenan again.
That's what we'll talk about.
But I just think this team, like the thing that's so hard about it is that they were so close, right?
And I think everybody has like the thought like, hey, they were so close.
Are they able to get there again?
Like the task to get there is very difficult.
But man, I came away after everything this week, even in the buildup to this week's Super Bowl.
And in my head, I'm like, they're going to be back.
This team, they're going to be back.
They can stay healthy next year.
I have a strong feeling they'll be back in the AFC championship game.
It just, yeah, missed opportunities, you know, not getting a couple of stops here and there,
not being able to convert offensively in a couple of key situations really define the outcome of that game.
And that's why, I mean, we'll save our predictions here a little bit later.
But, man, that's why I feel the way I do about Sunday Super Bowl matchup and who I think is going to win.
But, Sarah, how do you feel?
you know i feel like with what i first of all i i had to bring up because i i don't know if the
mike caught you or if you know if if anybody heard what you said but their sponsorship for those
two guys they were representing bounty uh which is hysterical you know given who they play
for uh but i just had to bring that up i couldn't really focus on anything else until i just knew
that that was heard because that was funny but um yeah i think with those two guys and and the
other players that we've heard like at the Pro Bowl, right?
Cortland Sutton, you know, all these players talking about it, you can tell that they,
they feel like they were robbed of, of being in the Super Bowl.
And I think that that's fair because it's not that it was Jared Stidham's fault that they
didn't make it, right?
But the fact that Bo Nix gets hurt that late in the divisional round and then you play
so well against the Patriots, they feel like they should, I mean, they could have blown
them out and would have blown them out if Bo had been out there.
Just knowing that and believing that, that's a difficult level of like acceptance, isn't it?
It's not even a, it's not necessarily like, dang it, we could have converted that fourth down or like with Bo Nix.
You're not even talking about that stuff.
You're not talking about converting the fourth down or, you know, the backwards pass.
And, you know, not to say Bo wouldn't have made any mistakes or anything like that, but you just feel like you had that game at such a place where the Patriots were not even crossing midfield.
against that defense that day.
And you just, I mean, that's, they're right.
They are.
The Patriots weren't good.
That game.
There's no question about it.
And I feel like the Broncos just know that they had an opportunity robbed from them.
And it's not like they, you know, they can go back and say, yeah, shoot, we like, at full
strength, we lost that game.
No, you were, you were short-handed at the worst possible spot.
Yeah.
And I think the frustrating part about it is like, you know, next season is never promised, right?
Like there's no guarantee you're going to get back to the AFC championship game, right?
And it's just like the fact that you were that close to being in the Super Bowl.
And if Bow's healthy, right, having a good chance to win the Super Bowl.
Like it's frustrated.
I mean, you look at Dan Marino, right.
He got to Super Bowl early and really got back there with the Miami Dolphins.
And Marino's considered, yeah, Jim Kelly went to four and lost four in a row.
I mean, it's just, it's a brutal game, man.
And look, I'm confident.
I think the Broncos are getting back there.
I think you'll see them playing a Super Bowl sooner rather than later.
But it's not a guarantee.
Like it really isn't.
Like I feel confident about it, but it's not, it's the furthest thing from a sure thing.
So there's only three things guaranteed in life.
Death, taxes, and terrible voters in the world systems.
You're spot on with that.
You're spot on.
So no, I think, you know, this is probably the last we kind of hear about that for a while.
So you see Benito and you see PS2 doing their thing out there with Kay Adams.
And it's just like a reminder of like, you know, they shouldn't be doing these interviews.
They should be out there in San Jose getting ready to play in a Super Bowl game.
games. So we'll obviously remember that file it away for future reference and whatnot. And real
quick on Sarah's comment, give you a little behind the scenes information here and insight to what
the Super Bowl is like. Bounty is one of the biggest sponsors of Radio Row. And they literally have
like a conveyor belt of like chicken wings that just like come out like basically all hours of
the day when you're out there at Radio Row. And I mean, I don't know. There's probably a few thousand
people in that convention center. And so it's like you get your wings. They give you some sauce. And then
there's a gazillion rolls of bounty paper towel out there.
And bounty paper towel is not cheap.
I'd be going to the grocery store.
I'm like, do I get this?
Do I go generic, right?
So it's a nice little perj.
I just get brawny.
It's actually,
you go with the competitor.
You're shopping at Target and not Walmart.
Yeah, true.
Yeah.
I'd say so.
You know, my wife likes to just submit online orders and where we go.
We're just boom.
You know, happy wife, happy life.
Brownie.
Yeah.
What's their slogan?
Bounty's the quicker picker upper.
Brownie's the guy in like the flannel, I think.
Oh, that manly man took paper towel.
Makes sense.
Got to love it.
Well, you know, the Hall of Fame voters, they're a Charmin Xeroft.
Yeah, exactly.
They don't want to reveal their votes.
It's ridiculous.
But no, man, I mean, again, we're kind of in decompression mode with this season.
And, you know, we'll hear from Sean soon enough.
Combine coming up, right?
We'll have some more meat on the bone to kind of chew on here.
But for now, I think it's just kind of continuing to process this season that was.
I love what we heard from Troy Franklin.
I think I've seen Cortland Sutton down there, although I don't think I've heard anything crucial from him necessarily.
And then you kind of just get that reminder again from Sartan and Benito.
But, you know, Cody, you and I know, Sertan and Benito, you know, personally to a certain extent,
they're not going to let this, they're going to let it impact them in a good way, right?
Like they're not going to be hung up over this season and it's going to drag them down into next season.
They're going to use this as fuel to the fire.
I know that's, you know, maybe a bit generic.
I'm like, oh, you got so close.
You're going to be even better for it next year, right?
I truly believe that when it comes to Benito and Sertan, though.
Oh, easily.
I mean, and also in their experience since being in Denver coming into it has been losing,
except for last year, you know, having the first winning season on recent memory.
And then obviously this year making just, you know, an incredible lead 14 and 3.
They're not satisfied with just, hey, you know, hey, we got 14 wins.
Hey, this is the peak.
Like, this was the best season that they've had collectively as a team, but they're not happy with that.
They want to go further.
They won't be happy until they win a Super Bowl.
So I think that that's a good level of motivation for them.
I think they're going to bring it in the right ways.
I think for the entire team too.
And I'm very, very excited to see who Sean and who George look to bring into the mix here,
which we'll talk about here in just a little bit because I have some thoughts.
Yeah, I have some thoughts as well.
So why do we hit our final break?
We'll come back and put a bow on the show.
Talk a little Super Bowl, some predictions.
Cody wants to talk about the coaching staff as well.
And we'll go down memory lane with some of these guys that got into the Hall of Fame.
I cannot believe that some of the names on this list are Hall of Famers already.
It's crazy.

Okay, winding on down here on the Lockdown Broncos Squad Show.
A fun one as always.
Anilo Piro, Cody works here, Bedinger.
Appreciate each and every one of you for rocking with us out there in Broncos country.
Cody, I'll let you go first here.
What did you want to talk about with the coaching staff and all that good stuff?
Nothing with the coaching staff with just the wide receiver position.
You know, with Sarah and I did a show today where, you know, we talked about out of the guy like A.J. Brown, right?
We even bringing up George Pickens.
And like, we posted a tweet a few days ago about, and I was like, hey, Sarah fully convinced me like the Broncos should trade for A.J. Brown.
The amount of people are like, no, I don't want that headache on our team, this and that.
Like, oh, you don't want a diva.
And I'm just like in my head, like, he's not a good locker room fit.
Look, I've been in a locker room.
I know exactly what kind of guys are in that locker room.
There's a great group of guys.
A.J. Brown coming into the Broncos locker room, despite being very outspoken in Philly,
is not going to ruin the Broncos locker room, especially with all the veteran leaders
that Denver has on this team.
A.J. Brown would be a game changer, a wide receiver.
Everybody wants a game changing wide receiver until it's time to go get a game changing
wide receiver like A.J. Brown or George Pickens.
I want to put it on the record here today.
I am fully on board with either or of those two.
guys, I don't care about the headache.
If anyone could deal with it, Sean Peyton can.
Sean Peyton has dealt with guys with egos before, but you know what?
You're getting a playmaker that if they can buy into that, maybe a change of scenery for some of
those guys might do them good.
And here in the Mile High City, I'm telling you, there's some fun things being built right now,
especially a new team facility is going to be ready to make.
That's all I had to say on that.
Sayer.
I think the frustration that I have is especially annoying when it comes to AJ.
Brown. Like this is a guy who's already gotten his money. So one of the big worries I think that people
have with big money free agents regardless of position is like what's how's this guy going to respond to
getting a massive contract, right? How is he going to is he going to give less effort once he gets a
bunch of money in the bank? Right. And that has not been the case for AJ Brown who has been absolutely
one of the like top dogs at the wide receiver position in the NFL, just a model of consistency.
So what people are complaining about with A.J. Brown is the fact that the guy wants the ball.
That is the most ironic and hilarious argument of not wanting to acquire a wide receiver that I've ever heard.
I don't want the wide receiver. He wants the ball too bad. That's crazy to me, especially for a guy who helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl, especially for a guy that you know you can go to him in big moments, somebody who wants the ball that badly at all times.
times like that's the type that's all wide receivers right and everybody likes to point out the example of
well no you want a team first guy like rod smith who's willing to do all the dirty work and whatever else
and i'm like there's a reason why you keep referencing rod smith with this example because he's the
only freaking wide receiver whoever had that mindset and mentality and so it's it's just not the case for
receivers you need somebody out there who is an absolute alpha dog give me the ball it's the biggest
moment of the game. If you don't throw it to me, you're making a mistake. I want that guy on my team.
And that's why I want A.J. Brown. And I'm not saying that it's A.J. Brown and nobody else.
But I think when it comes to him specifically, he is the ideal fit for this team.
Yeah, the one thing, and I agree with both of you, but I'll go back to what Greg Penner had to
say about how any free agents they have to bring in, have to be the right fit for the locker room.
And I'm not sure if that means diva, big personality or anything like that. But it is worth
none of the owner of the franchise came out and said that as well.
Look, I think George Pickens, I believe him and Bo had a little relationship.
They played in a high school circuit together I was reading.
So maybe there's some familiarity there.
Look, AJ Brown, you know, say what you want about the guy.
I mean, they've won the NFC East this past season.
They were a playoff team.
They won a Super Bowl with him.
So two things could be true at the same time.
He could be a bit of a headache right off the field to a certain extent or in the locker room,
but you can also still win in spite of that.
And look at all the top wide receivers in the NFL.
I mean, Jamar Chase, there's massive conversations about him and his attitude.
Justin Jefferson, right?
What's going to happen with him in Minnesota?
We've heard those conversations.
C.D. Lamb, we've seen in Dallas.
JSN, I think that the jury's kind of still out.
Does the fame and success change him?
I guess we shall see.
This was only his second year in the NFL.
So I agree with you, man.
And George Pickens, if we're going the free agent route,
is really the only game-changing receiver out there.
I know a lot of people want to point towards Mike Evans.
I personally don't think Mike Evans.
is leaving Tampa. They're running it back with the head coach and the quarterback. It was a
down year for them. Why would Mike Evans leave the only place he's ever played for? So I think
Mike Evans would be a fun fit in this offense. I just don't think he's leaving. I think George
Pickens is a more realistic option if Denver were to go down that premium wide receiver route.
And we'll see what happens with AJ Brown. I think Philly will figure out a way to try to make
him happy as well with their new offensive coordinator. But we shall see. Let us know your thoughts
in the comment section. All right. Let's talk about the game here real quick. And then we'll end with
the Hall of Fame. Patriots, Seahawks. This is a game that when I first found out the
matchup, I was kind of like Seahawks by a Billy. Not that I'm necessarily coming off that take,
but I think I've gathered a little bit more respect for New England, not necessarily because
of what they did against Denver, but I think Mike Rable's a damn good head coach, man.
And I think New England's had to play some really tough defenses, right? Houston, Denver.
You know, so they're a bit battle tested going up against this daunting Seattle defense as well.
I think it's going to be a close game.
I don't really think it'll be a blowout one way or the other, Cody.
I disagree.
I think it's going to be a blowout.
I'm going to go 2710 Seattle.
I think they're going to have fun in this one.
Look, I think it'll be close initially in the first half.
I think Seattle pulls away.
I think what Sam Darnal has been able to do this year.
I think the rise of the guys that they have there,
obviously with Jackson Smith and Jigbo, the type of season he certainly had.
Former Bronco, Eric Sober, contributing at the tight-in position for them.
And then Kenneth Walker, I mean, when you talk about more complete team right now, I look at Seattle.
I look at Seattle in all three phases, special teams, defense offense, they're a complete team.
They have a quarterback who can throw the football really well.
They got a running back in Walker who can obviously run the ball really well.
They got really good receivers defensively.
They're smothering.
They're suffocating under what McDonald runs over there.
And then they got Rashid Shaheed in the return game, which, I mean, he started off the playoff game.
the NFL playoffs with a kick return touchdown against San Fran.
So for me, I'm just like, I look at this and it should be Seattle's game, plain and simple.
I think they win this one with ease.
That's how I feel.
But Sarah, where are you lining up on this one?
Yeah, I think the Patriots are going to get their clocks cleaned a little bit.
And I don't, I don't say that, you know, as a disrespect to them, I think it has everything to do with Seattle.
And if you're the Patriots, you're Drake May as well.
I think he's kind of gotten progressively worse as the play.
have gone on against these better defenses, right?
I mean, early on against the Chargers,
a bit of a rough game.
Then against Houston, like Cody was saying,
I mean, it took all those turnovers from the Texans
to give the Patriots the opportunities to, you know,
pull away from that game like they did because the Patriots were turning the ball over,
plenty in that game.
Drake May himself included.
And then against Denver, I mean, 83 total passing yards.
And Drake was, like I said, barely able to get that team to midfield
until the Broncos fumbled the ball.
ball at the 10-yard line or whatever that was.
So it's just to me, you're going up now against a defense that is top five in every
major metric, whether it's points allowed, third down defense, red zone defense,
passing defense, like these guys are good in every way.
Mike McDonald knows how to scheme it up.
And I'm just banking on that Seattle defense being the difference in this game as far as
going up against Drake May, although I will say I have a tinge of kind of just like, I
still am waiting. I'm waiting for the clock to strike midnight on Sam
Donald. I am. I'm waiting for the carriage to turn back into a pumpkin. Like,
it's not that I'm buying Drake May more than Sam Donald, but I am still like just like last
year when he was on the Vikings, I'm waiting for that moment in the playoffs now where it's like,
okay, we're past midnight at this point. It's time either either he's legit, either the glass
slipper fits his foot or the clock is past due and you got to turn the carriage back.
into the pumpkin here. So that's kind of what I'm hesitant about in terms of just saying
full on blowout. And I agree with you. I've been waiting for the bottom to fallout with
Sam Darno, but I think it's fair to have the conversation of like, will it? Like he's been
really good this season. Back to 14 wins seasons for him as a starting quarterback. I know the
turnover has been a problem from him in the regular season. And maybe it all comes crashing down
for him in the Super Bowl. Maybe it does. I mean, the one thing you hear, go ahead, Cody. I was going to
say, I love Christian Gonzalez.
I think he's a fantastic corner.
I don't think the Patriots have anybody that can guard JSN
and what he can bring to the table.
You know what's an interesting point, though?
I'm not sure Seattle.
I think the Patriot defense might be the best defense Seattle's
to face this playoff.
I think that's, yeah, I think that's fair.
So I just, I wonder, and I just, I love Mike Rable.
I never understood why Tennessee fired him.
I know there are dysfunctional ownership groups, but that's why.
But like, yeah, but like,
And rationalel.
Like I'm like, there's no legitimate reason to fire this guy.
Right?
I mean, he never,
Ryan Tanna hell is his quarterback.
Like, let's be real here.
And they won in spite of it.
Exactly.
So we'll see what happens.
I'm going to pick Seattle to win the game as well.
But I think it'll be like a three or four point game.
I really do.
I'll go like,
I think it'd be like lower.
I'll go like 2420.
That's kind of what I'm feeling.
But just like the,
wasn't that the final score of the Super Bowl 40, I mean, 51?
Oh, was it?
Wasn't it 24 20?
Malcolm Butler?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't remember the score, but I remember the game.
Your running back's nickname is Beast Mode.
What are you doing?
Like, what are we doing here?
Oh, my gosh.
What a moment that'll forever live in infamy.
I remember just the reaction when that actually happened.
I was like, I think everyone was shocked.
Like Richard Sherman's face when the camera went to him, that was incredible.
Real quick.
All right.
commercials.
We don't got no commercials.
There's going to be commercials.
Oh, Super Bowl commercial.
I think you're talking about the show.
You guys are going to see a commercial that makes you cry over under two and a half.
I'm taking the under.
I think the commercials have been dog for the last few years.
Yeah.
This year, hopefully.
Dude, maybe Timo ads.
The only commercial that's ever made me cry, like legit cry.
It takes a lot because I try to suck those things back whenever they do come to the forefront.
But the one commercial that made me cry was, and I'll get emotionally even talking about it.
Frick, shoot, this sucks.
The guy is watching videos on his phone of his kids at Disney World.
And then it pulls out and it's like him in modern time and his daughter comes up to him,
but she's like 20 years older.
Dude, that was a good one.
Even thinking about it, you guys can see I'm swelling up right here, dude.
That wrecks me every time.
So if they play that freaking commercial, I will cry, Cody.
man I'm with you there's always one where it's like uh and it usually is like a car commercial
or a for you know like or a jeep commercial where uh they're like driving you know it's like
it goes back in time to like the 80s or something and they got kids and puppies and then
now they're like driving to a house and now it's like their kids are older and their their kids
have kids i'm like gosh dang it's almost cutting it's like it on the hard courts yeah i just
hope they're entertaining commercials i feel like the last few years like it's like it used to be like
this big thing, I feel like it's not as great as it used to be.
You know, that makes sense.
That's life now.
You know what we need.
You know what we need.
We need a new trailer for the freaking Mandalorian movie that's coming out in like two months or three months right now.
We need a new trailer for that freaking movie.
That if we don't get one of those during the Super Bowl, I'm going to be a little mift.
I'm interested.
It's always a good time.
I think I'm just going to post it at home, honestly, too.
I'm just going to probably get some food.
I don't think I'm going to go to like I don't like going to bars for games that I'm actually interested in like
The game is a bar
Yeah, it's unless you got a big group of friends and I think it's got not even that not even that like I had to work in a bar twice this year
For a watch party and I
I could not do it it was just so I can't pay attention everything that's going on because there's so much chaos
I'm very much like if I have to watch the game on a TV I need to be a home and the comfort of my
I'm doing it.
Super Bowl, yeah, we're going to a party.
We're going to a Super Bowl party with our friends down the road.
But, you know, my whole thing is like, I'm going to eat, watch the game,
and just not really care about all the side conversations that go on.
That is fair.
I'll probably be posted up with a hoodie and sweats.
And I'll have some chicken wigs or something.
So, yeah, I actually went, I think it was last week or two weeks ago.
You might run into some Bronco players.
I got to take Marvin and Evan there.
They keep telling me like, hey, what's that place you keep telling me about?
I'm like, it's about it.
It's a best, bro.
Let's go.
It's very good.
Okay, before we get out of here, just because we teased it, the Hall of Fame class,
Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Keakley, Adam Vinatary, and Roger Craig of the players
that were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
I can't believe Drew Brees is a Hall of Famer, not because of his talent, but just because
it's been that long.
Larry Fitzgerald, I think one of the most underrated wide receivers in NFL history,
Luke Keakley, aka Luke Cafferty from Friday Night Lights,
an incredible player.
Vinoteri, right, the elder statesman,
or I guess Roger Craig is the elder statesman,
but Vinetary's career spanned decades on decades.
Any quick thoughts here about the Hall of Fame class?
Luke Keekley, best linebacker I've ever seen play the game.
And it's a shame his career had to get cut short due to concussions,
but the fact, what was he, was he an all pro in seven of his eight seasons?
I mean, that dude was unbelievable.
Talk about the smartest play.
player on the field, it didn't matter.
Like, not only was he a physical specimen, but my freaking goodness, Duke could see what
play was coming before he even lined up under center.
Like that, Luke was a dog, man.
And it's glad.
I'm glad to now see him kind of doing some media stuff and like getting on a commentary
because, man, I think he could enhance the product that we currently have right now with
some of the other stuff going on.
But no surprises outside the Belichick thing.
And also, I'm very surprised at this year's class was as small.
as it is. It's not normally this small.
So I was like, I don't know about that.
Sarah, any thoughts?
That's cool to see a kicker get in.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, you don't see that very often, right?
I think there's what, like three strictly just kickers in the Hall of Fame now with
Venetary in there.
And Venetary, you know, shout out.
He's from, I think he's from South Dakota.
I think he was from Rapid City.
So I'm from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which Rapid City is where Mount Rushmore is at.
And then I believe he played his college ball.
in Brookings, which is about 45 minutes from my hometown at South Dakota State.
So always cool to see the state of South Dakota represent in the NFL.
And Adam Vinatieri, he's the goat, man, the greatest kicker of all time.
Yeah, he's a fun one.
I mean, Drew Breeze, I still think of him on the cover of Madden, you know, no disputing him
and what he did with Sean Payton as his head coach, obviously.
And for me, like, the one that kind of like kind of pokes at me the most is Larry Fitzgerald, man.
I just, I loved watching Larry Fitzgerald, just like a textbook, fundamental wide receiver, stonewall.
I mean, just played the position, not a diva, right?
We were talking about A.J. Brown and George Pickens, like the opposite of that was kind of that
Rod Smith-esque type of personality, did it for a long time, never got a ring, but was a really,
really fun player to watch was Larry Fitzgerald.
So I think all these guys are deserving, no one that I thought was fringe that got in.
I'm more upset about the Belichick craft stuff
and I don't even like the Patriots.
I just think he's disrespectful to the game
not to put them in his first ballot hall of famers.
But that's a conversation for another day.
I was going to say,
Larry Fis had the most reliable hands, I think, in NFL history.
I think the amount of drops he had about his whole career,
I can't find like the full thing,
but that dude was automatic anytime you threw the ball his way.
Yeah, he was an unbelievable player for the Arizona Cardinals.
I wanted them to be,
Steelers that one year, man.
Santonio Holmes had to happen.
James Harrison had to happen, man.
James Harrison.
That's a fun.
It's had a great.
Fitz was incredible in that playoff.
I mean,
you talk about playoff runs that nobody remembers
because they didn't win it all.
Like,
that guy was,
I had a Cardinals hat at that time
because I was such a big Fitzgerald fan.
Like,
I went and found a Cardinals hat
at the local Shields, man.
And I'm like,
dude. Broncos ain't in it. I'm rooting for the Cardinals and Larry Fitz. And you know what?
I should have just never bought the hat probably because freaking probably cursed him at this point.
So nobody tell Larry Fitzgerald that I bought a Cardinals hat during that run.
Hey, you know, he's immortalizing can now. So I think obviously he'd like to have a ring,
but that's a pretty cool personal accomplishment either way to say that you were an officially
gold jacket NFL Hall of Famer. All right, good stuff today, gentlemen.
Always a fun time chopping it up with you guys.
back again for a couple of episodes next week for all of our listeners out there.
You guys are the absolute best.
Kickback, relax, enjoy the Super Bowl, get some food, have some beverages, and hopefully
it's a good game for everyone to enjoy out there.
But for Cody works there, Beninger, I am Anilo Piro, another episode of the Lockdown
Broncos squad show in the books.
Like I said, Nick Ferguson will be back with us next week.
But until then, enjoy the game.
We'll talk to you guys soon.
