Episode Date: October 5, 2026The BRONCOS SQUAD SHOW crew reacts to a frustrating 24-14 loss in San Francisco as the Broncos fall to the 49ers. It was a rough night for Denver, with injuries to key starters like Pat Surtain, Riley... Moss, and Pat Bryant piling onto a disappointing offensive performance. Aniello Piro, Cody Roark, Nick Ferguson and Sayre Bedinger break down what went wrong on both sides of the ball, discuss the impact of the injuries, and debate whether the offense can get back on track after another inefficient outing. How much did the missing starters affect the outcome? Can the defense stay afloat if Surtain and Moss miss extended time? And what needs to change for the offense to spark some life?Drop your thoughts and reactions in the comments below! I'm Anilopiro, and it is pain in the bay for the Denver Broncos in week four.
Cody Rourke, the Broncos offensive woes have finally caught up to them,
and it sunk them in San Francisco.
Sarah Beninger, hey, no downfield passing, no running game, penalties, drop passes.
But other than that, the game went pretty well.
I am Nick Ferguson, and boy, we got a lot done pack about this offense.
Slow start?
Yes, they did.
Again.
I'm Cameron Parker, and the sky is falling, question mark.
We'll probably talk about it.
Love it.
Let's get into it all on tonight's Lockdown Broncos Squad show.
Let's go, fellas.
From the South stands, it's the Broncos squad.
Everything Denver Broncos every week.
Covering all the big hits and game-changing plays from the Mile High City,
the way only the Lockdown Podcast Network can.
Gear up and squad up.
Broncos squad show starts now.
It is your Lockdown Broncos Squat show right here on your Lockdown Broncos YouTube channel and
audio feed.
Hope everyone in Broncos country is hanging in there after a difficult game for the Denver
Broncos fall into the San Francisco 49ers here in week four.
Your final score, Denver 14, San Francisco 24.
And guys, today's episode of your lockdown Bronco Squacho is brought to you by our
friends over at Fandul. Make this your most rewarding season ever with Fandual
Rewards Club every week. Check out the Fandual app to see what's waiting for you.
More from our friends over at Fendual here in just a little bit.
Everyone watching on YouTube, we appreciate you guys, our audio listeners.
You guys are the best. It's going to be a bit of a event show here this evening.
But before we get started, you may have heard the new voice in the mix.
Mr. Cameron Parker, you'll hear from him here on the Lockdown Bronco Squat show from time to time.
and he's also got something cooking with our friends over at lockdown Broncos in general.
Cam, what's going on?
And why don't you go ahead and let the fine folks know what you're going to be doing here moving forward?
I will be the host of lockdown Broncos hits.
It is the daily, if you will, true bite size.
I know Cody's used that word before.
It is a true bite size in every shape of the word, if you will.
It's like five-minute hits for I know Cody started it,
but I will be continuing it over there at lockdown.
on Broncos hits.
So I'm blessed to be here.
Boom.
Got the squad here.
Five people show one, two, three, four, five.
Any squad out there wants to go five on five with us?
Let's go.
Get wrecked.
They will get wrecked.
They will get wrecked, man.
But you know who got wrecked today?
The Broncos on the road.
Just a combination of just negative things here and there, right?
And really, it was just a couple of mistakes that ultimately swung this game in San Francisco's
favor that ultimately led to Denver drop into two and two.
And some of the same problems that we have seen from this team early on that we've talked
about.
Once again, it kind of sunk them here in this game.
We did our post game show on it.
But man, the offense, I think is the biggest reason that Denver lost this game, plain and
simple, obviously here on Sunday.
They did.
They were the biggest reason.
I mean, obviously you can't throw down the field.
You can't catch the ball.
When you do throw down the field, you can't get the run game going.
Even when you do get the run game going, you got a penalty that calls it back, or you got a
pre-snap penalty.
or you got illegal motion, whatever it is.
The Broncos filled out the bingo card of offensive incompetence against the San Francisco 49ers.
And the fact that they came within three is once again indicative of just why this team is so maddening,
why they're so frustrating because we've seen like Cody and I just talked about on our post game recording,
we've seen this team play well.
That's why we get so ticked off after games like this because you've seen they can move the ball.
They can score 30 in the second half against the Rams.
They can score 20 in the second half against the Jaguars.
Like they can do it.
They can do these things, but they can't do it.
They can't do any of these things.
They can't do anything consistently.
They can't do anything consistently well.
They have no bread and butter.
They have no easy button.
There's nothing, even amidst the winning, and you can't diminish the winning, obviously.
There's no saying, well, I mean, they shouldn't have won this game.
They shouldn't know.
No, when you win games, you win games.
But, man, if we're not talking about the same dang stuff after every,
every game win or loss with this Broncos team.
Well, they say winning is the perfect deodorant.
The Broncos have been doing it for the past two seasons,
and that's why Bow Nakes and the Denver Broncos have had so many fourth quarter
comebacks.
And everyone would always say, you know what?
The only thing that matters is that the team gets to dub.
And it's not until the team gets to dub that everything that I've been saying,
even going back to last year, now comes to center stage.
and everyone has a problem with it.
I said it before.
They don't drive the ball down the field.
Two, they're not consistent in the run game.
When you look at what happened in the first half,
let's look at carries, nine carries for the Broncos
to 18 carries for San Francisco.
Now, Davis Webb said before this game,
hey, the number of attempts have gone up.
And I was like, yeah, the attempts have gone up
to make it appear as though there is absolute balance in this offense.
but the production isn't there.
You can attempt to run all you want to,
but the production isn't there.
And why, ladies and gentlemen,
I will get Rahim Morris and the San Francisco 49th defense,
they did a good job against the run.
But here's the biggest issue.
I've been saying it for a while.
The offensive line doesn't get the necessary push.
And it's not only until you lose a game like this
that now everyone can see,
this is a problem.
problem.
Yeah, and I think that the other part is it's a bizarre one because, like,
statistically the Broncos were eight of 17 on third down, right?
Which is respectable, right?
Like, it's very respectable.
You would think that it would be a case where, oh, they would meticulously move down,
down the field and actually get points.
They did not.
And I think that's what essentially made it a little bit so puzzling when it came to this game.
And it was all phases.
And, you know, I mean, they struggled in the running game.
they struck a little bit in the special teams area of committing to a certain field goal late, if you will, to try and cut it to a one possession game.
So it just, it was one where it was a true all-phase type of game where they were beat essentially from the first quarter.
Do we think, I think that's a good, sorry to interrupt you, AP.
I was going to say, do we, should we debate that real quick?
Like, were they settled for the field goal right to make it, what was it, 10, 6 at that point, I think, or something like that?
Instead of going for it, I think it was what, fourth and two.
They went, they kicked the field goal instead of going for it.
No, in the second half.
Like after Jalen Waddle, I think it was after Jalen scored.
No, it was not after Jalen scored a touchdown.
You're saying with Lutz at the end of the game?
No, no, no, no, no.
This is when they had three points and they sold out to get six, right,
on that second field goal from Will Lutz.
You guys think that they should have gone for it there on fourth and two,
or do you feel like the field goal in that specific realm was a safe bet?
I'm always going to take the point.
Not everyone agrees with me because three timeouts too.
Well, we live in the world of analytics.
And analytics would have said, you know what?
Go ahead and go for it.
But we've seen this team go for it on third and one.
And their favorite play is empty formation and they don't convert.
So I'm sure that was in the back of their heads.
You take the points.
But to me, even with that being said, gentlemen,
the Broncos had a number of opportunities to take this game away for the 49ers,
because the 49th offense, it didn't look like it did the first three weeks.
It did not, right?
The Broncos defense did a great job stuff in CMC.
They did a great job Mike Evans, hurt albeit they did a great job on him.
They did a great job on George Kittle into that final play.
The defense did what they've been doing for the past three years.
They are not getting offensive assistance.
Yeah, I mean, they, like that was like the big debate that I was having,
I believe we talked about it as well last week.
just, you know, people that work in media and Broncos fans that I know alike is like,
how do you slow down Kittle? How do you slow down McCaffrey? And they were pretty effective
of that across the board, except for that one explosive play to Kittle there at the end of the game.
Mike Evans did what Mike Evans does. You can live with that, right? I mean, let me look at Debo
Samuel's numbers. I know he had a couple of days. Debo killed him in the run game.
Debo had too many big plays. He had three carries for 40-something yards at a 22-yard run,
bad tackling at times. But here's the thing, right? Obviously, the defense late gave up that
that played a kiddo, but I'm not putting this loss on them.
I think coming into this game, we talk so much about how explosive that 49ers offense
specifically was coming into this game and almost every category.
And everyone's like, well, they haven't played anybody.
I don't care about who they play.
It's how they play.
Like we can see some of the worst teams in the NFL, some of the worst offense in the NFL,
have success and do things that we haven't seen this Broncos team do,
which is another pain point that we can talk about.
But it's how they do it and how efficient that 49ers offensive operation was
Denver put a cap on some of those big plays.
Bad tackling here and there certainly caught them.
But because of the fact that Denver's offense punted on five of their first seven possessions,
and the defense held them to what?
Was it going at halftime?
It was 3-3.
You can't ask for any more.
Then you lose PS2.
Then you lose Riley Moss.
And still, that didn't necessarily hurt Denver.
Yes, it hurts not having those guys.
But having Jada, Barron and Chris Aben's drain out there,
that didn't hurt the Broncos in this game in the second half.
it was just a couple of explosive plays.
And that's what happens when your defense is on the field and your offense can't sustain drives.
And you get to the final three minutes to actually score a touchdown to do something.
It's not on the defense at that point.
Yes, the kiddle play was backbreaking, but that's not on the defense didn't lose them this game is my point.
They did enough, I think, for them to win this game, even if they weren't able to sack Brock Purdy.
Yeah, the defense is completely absolved of blame from this game, in my opinion.
I mean, obviously, like you said, they had their warts in this game.
game just like the, but not just like the offense. They had, they took their lumps at times,
but the offense was absolutely atrocious in this game and gave the defense no, I mean,
it should have been a blowout early on in this game. The way the offense was playing,
the 49ers getting the ball as many times as they did for the defense to come up with as many
stops as they did was extremely impressive, especially, I mean, you talk about stopping a quarterback
sneak. You talk about stopping them when they get into the red zone where they've been one of the
best teams in the NFL. I mean, they did it all in the first half of this game, then even into the
second half a little bit as well. So it's just time. It's time for the offense to pick it up.
And I think the talking point is going to be the elephant in the room, guys, which is at what
point does Sean Payton say, give me, give me that playbook. Give me the play sheet. Give me the play.
Like, it's coming. It's coming. You could tell when he says stuff after the game, like,
it's too early to say that. Well, you know what he's saying. You read between the lines there.
He's saying it's my time.
Like, you already know what's at stake this season.
How many times did we talk about it in the off season?
We talked about the fact that Sean Payton could become the first head coach in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with two franchises.
And the risk of giving the keys to the offense to Davis Webb is massive.
So if at any point, he's like, you know what?
I want to become the first head coach to win two, to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises.
I'm not leaving this in your hands anymore.
Like we tried it out.
I think that day could be coming.
But wait a minute, Sarah.
I mean, even if Sean were to do that,
would in fact,
we receive something entirely different?
I'm going to say no.
Because based on what we've seen
thus far this season is the exact same thing
that we saw last season.
That's why last season there were so many fourth quarter
comebacks that everyone continues to talk about.
So you can go back to Sean Payton if you want to.
But guess what?
Even he, when he was calling the plays, they were taking too long.
So you got delay a game penalties.
Then there was a rotation of flipping running backs out.
And then you wouldn't even running the ball.
And there was no commitment to the run.
So will we get anything different if you were to give the play calling back to Sean?
I'm going to say no.
Well, but that is that really the reason not to do it if you're Sean Payton, right?
Because if you're Sean Peyton, you're saying, hey,
if this ship is going down, it's going down because of me.
Like, it's not going to be because while we gave Davis Webb the reins to the offense
and we let him call the plays and it didn't go as expected and the execution wasn't there,
like if this ship is going to go down, the captain has to go down with the ship.
So he has to say at the end of the day, the buck stops with me.
It can't be because of Davis Webb that we had offensive struggles this year.
It's going to have to be because of me.
And I know we talked a lot last season.
about accountability and Sean Peyton and whether or not he's willing to do that.
But I think at this point, it's less of a matter of how much different will the offense
really be if I'm calling plays.
You've got to think of it from Peyton's perspective.
He's got to be thinking to himself, if this thing's going to go poorly, at least we'll
know that it was my fault and not his.
So it has to be the ball is in my court.
But it doesn't make a difference because the buoy that saves the whole Broncos team for the
past two seasons has been the defense.
So your hope is Bayes Joseph doesn't end up on injury reserve.
That's your hope that he doesn't end up on injury reserve because it is his defense that continues to keep the offense in a lot of these games.
I mean, that's the thing.
But I personally don't think if you go back to Sean, there's going to be anything different that we're seeing that we hadn't already seen because if that was the case, we would have seen him by now.
to I would even just say the moment you also go to Sean is the moment you also are probably done with the web experiment and I mean and shout out web I still think he's a very young coach but he's clearly going through some growing pains himself and and I think that for just the and I talk about this sometimes on other shows but it's like maybe he's kind of going through a little bit of identity crisis I mean we talk about it all the time right like he's he he's he's he's he's he he's he he's
He's coming from the air raid system of Texas Tech, right?
Like he grew up with and everything.
And so it's just maybe that is something that's kind of ingrained in his blood.
And obviously, as we've seen in the handful of games that has been a part of this Broncos team,
the past offense, if you will, has been relatively active, a little bit more than the running game.
So I don't know if that's more, just Davis Webb, just kind of showing his hand a little bit in identity or what.
I mean, obviously, I know the last handful of years, you know,
led the league in past attempts, but it just, it feels a little bit like a little bit, maybe
of Davis-Davis Webb's identity.
Well, it's tough, too, as a coordinator, I'd say for the first time, I've been in that
position.
Granted, I'm not calling a defense at the NFL level, right?
But when I first became a defensive coordinator, you know, you practice all week, you have
this identity, like, this is going to be the mentality of our defense.
You prepare all week, and it's like the first moment you really face that adversity,
it's like, what do I do here?
Like, there are some moments where you do have piss running down.
your leg sometimes. Like it happens. It's normal, but you've got to shake it off. And I think
these early games, he's shaking it off. But if you're Sean Payton, right? And we are talking about this
in our post game, right? Here's the keys. The keys are to the kingdom right here.
John Payton has given Davis Webb the keys to the Ferrari at this point. But at some point,
if you show that you can't be responsible driving it, it's going to lose your driving privileges.
John with the expectations. If the expectations for this team were low, I would say it'd be
easier to do because it's so high it would be a risky move and it's kind of a lose lose situation
here from the broncos perspective if sean were to take the play calling away from davis
and just the perspective of it because everyone would be saying like oh sean has to admit now that
he was wrong so cody using your example of you pull out your keys so i'll ask you guys
and i'll ask everyone that's watching us if you if you were to call the broncos defense by a
particular car, right? What would you call them at this particular point since Davis Webb has the
keys? How would you classify them? Wait, the Broncos defense or the offense? No, no, excuse me,
the offense. How would you classify the Broncos offense if it were a car since you have Davis Webb
now having the keys? A GMC. A GMC? A GMC? Because one of the, I don't know, just the damn GMC,
the SUV. Look, it looks nice. It looks nice. It has some nice features, but sometimes it has a lot of problems and
breaks down a lot.
That's what they call a car that is you just get the shell of the car.
It has no interior or no engine.
That's what we're talking about.
It's not a Ford Pinto.
You know what Cody's thinking of.
You know what they say Ford stands for, right?
What?
Found on road dead.
That's what board stands for.
I drive a BMW, which is big money wasted, you know?
Yeah.
Like, it's kind of like one of those, you know, it's one of those sports.
cars where it's got some high performance, but you're constantly having to tweak it, take it
to the chop. So it's a land rover. Something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know.
It's hard. Or the Gucci Fiat's. Oh, God, don't even give me started. Let's, um, let's hit a break.
When we come back, we'll continue along with the offense conversation. I want to kind of piggyback
off of the play calling discussion and just try to make sense of what, what's going out with
this Broncos offense. Obviously, Bo Nix was not great today. Really, no one offensively.
was great today. So we'll try to fix some of these issues.
We'll come back right here on your. Oh, wrong.
Yes. Someone who's great today. We'll tell you what next. Big catch for Evan Ingram,
Cody. We'll tell you next. Slappy.
Logged on Bronco's squad show. David Harrison here at the Lotton Commander's podcast. Talk about

Okay, well, come on back into your lockdown Broncos Squatchew.
We got the whole crew here this evening reacting to a Broncos 24 to 14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
A lot going wrong, mainly on offense today for Denver.
Special teams not great.
Defense was good except for basically one explosive play for George Kittle there at the end.
That ultimately was the dagger.
What do you call me a slapie?
What did you call me a sloppy for?
Who am I missing on all?
I'm talking skill position players because Quinn miners might be the best player on the Broncos.
Well, obviously, I mean, that's a low hanging through.
RJ Harvey.
RJ Harvey was the lone bright spot of the offense today.
That's fair.
Let's see.
Harvey finished with 25 carries or 25 yards on seven carries, excuse me,
but obviously very effective as a receiver,
68 yards receiving on 10 receptions.
And why don't we kind of frame the conversation around the running back?
Nice return, too.
Yeah, very nice return.
J.K. Dobbins, I don't know if there's like a lingering injury or like whatever it might be.
But the version of J.K. Dobbins that we've seen through four games this year is not the version of J.K. Dobbins.
Oh, boy. Here we go. Here we go. And R.G. Harvey's versatile, but he's not like a true runner. I think we've talked about it. He's kind of that Swiss Army knife, but really better as a pass catcher. Jonah Coleman on IRR. Unproven. We know what Tyler Biddey is. By the way, Jule McLaughlin scoring a touchdown on Thursday night football for the Browns for what that's worth.
the running back conversation fellas i love just pissing off cody it's my favorite thing to do
why's that why's that pissed me off i'm i'm just disappointed and i'm i'm agreeing with you
all right i was going to say man don't hop on your barstool because we'll square up man
my barstool oh my god all right let's let's let's kick it to uh cam here first talk to me about
the running back room right at j k leaves a little bit to be desired rj good as a receiver
Coleman, I mean, is the lack of a rushing attack kind of the starting point, would you say,
for the Broncos offensive struggles? Is it more the play calling? Like, just give me a little diagnosis
with the room camp. I mean, to kind of piggyback a little bit off the play calling to a certain
extent, committing to a running game, I think would certainly help. You know, I mean, and just in
the notion of feeding off of all parties, I think it would be beneficial. I mean, we know
the numbers of how successful Boe is off of play action.
And if you're doing it without even kind of committing to a running game, it will be not near as effective.
Right.
And I think what's so interesting is, at least in the early returns, like, it's crazy to think that, you know, and obviously he's on IR, but it's crazy to think that when Jonah Coleman comes back, he might actually be running back one when he comes back the way that this running game is shaked out.
But I mean, to give shout out where shout out is due, R.J. Harvey, at least for the time being in Tel-Kalry,
Coleman comes back probably deserves a little bit more run with the way that he played in this San
Francisco game. And for JK, it's unfortunate. We're all rooting for the guy, but he does look a little
bit of a shell of himself. And it's unfortunate. But I mean, we all know, and to quote Sean Payton,
you know, there's a lot of hands that are dirty. And I, and I don't think that, you know,
just the running game is to blame. I mean, last reason, top five in every category.
Prior to going down with injuries, right?
I mean, top five in yards, top five in explosives, meaning 10 plus yard carries,
top five in yards after contact, top five and everything.
And that was what he was hanging his hat on, right?
When he talked to the media at the end of the year, he was saying,
hey, like before injury, like I was top five in all these categories.
And we have not seen that guy.
Let's just be honest.
When it comes to breaking tackles, when it comes to creating offense,
he hasn't been the same guy.
Maybe on one drive late against the Niners in this game here,
we saw a little bit of that J.K. Dobbins, navigating through traffic,
kind of creating after contact, showing a little exclusiveness.
But Cody and I talked about this going into week four,
J.K. Dobbins ranked 26th in the NFL among all running backs in total yards after
contact.
That is unacceptable for a guy that's on a two-year, $16 million deal and getting running back one carries.
I've been more impressed with Tyler Badey.
We don't need to talk much about Tyler Bade.
He's a secondary guy on this offense.
But he moved the chains.
What are we asking for?
Third down and short.
Somebody please run the ball.
Davis Webb,
please run the ball.
He did it twice to Badee in this game.
I mean, and it worked.
Go figure.
And a two point play.
What a brilliant play call.
And Bade is the one who converts it.
So I think they're finding ways to get these guys involved.
But you said 10 receptions.
for RJ Harvey in this game.
That's, uh,
yeah.
Like that's,
at least,
single routes and it's going down the sideline on,
and he's leaking out of the backfield.
All he's doing right now is just running out as far as fast as he can to get into the
flat.
And that's where they're having to go with the ball and say,
hey,
go make something happen.
I said to Cody earlier,
thank goodness RJ Harvey got off the bus today because it felt like nobody else on
the offense really did.
But you know what?
I want to say this, right?
I've heard the same narrative said about another running back who's no longer here in
Giovante Williams.
I just watched him rush for three Russian touchdowns today.
And even last year with the Cowboys, his numbers were even better than his first three
years with the Broncos.
And everyone was saying, well, you know what?
He couldn't really run behind the Broncos offensive line because he, too, was injured.
When we look at RJ Harvey, we look at the targets.
I think it comes down to the utilization of the running back.
What are they asking you to do?
When you look at what they were asking R.J. Harvey to do was there was a lot of swing routes.
He was running at H-Burts, where he comes to the line of scrimmage, runs to the sideline,
and it's a pass play.
So he gets the ball in open space, and he's making guys bounce off of him, right?
But when it comes to Dobbins, Dobbin is being forced to run between the two A-gaps.
The Broncos right now cannot do that.
they're not getting enough push.
So the idea that, well, JK is still hurt.
No, he's not hurt.
What's hurt is the offensive alignment and their inability to move guys off their spot
because that is the issue, gentlemen.
You know what?
I think the problem is too.
And look, this certainly goes back to what we talked about last year as well.
And I think it was Turtle in the chat who made a great point about this saying,
hey, for two years now we are talking about a lot of the same issues with this team.
there seems to be this disconnect.
Okay, here's the offense, right?
Here's our philosophy in terms of our run plays, our past plays,
things like that and our protection scheme,
but also here's our run game scheme.
And it does seem like there's a disconnect between the play caller
and how the offensive line, the protection scheme, the blocker scheme,
whatever you want to call it, those two things aren't in sync in any way,
shape, or form, right?
Or let's say you have a third and one, you go to run the football,
now you have an illegal procedure, right?
Okay, back it up five yards.
Oh, now you've got a holding call.
Now it's what, first and 20.
Well, you're lucky to get 10 back on the next play.
I mean, once again, this offense, when they do something well,
whether be in the run game, whether be in the past game,
the next play they go backwards or they get one play wiped off the board.
Or you get a great freaking play from Pat Bryant on third down,
and he gets hip drop tackled on his ankle and gets carted off the field because of that.
It's like when something goes right,
there's immediately something negative attached to it.
And then it influences the next play,
influences the drive.
Like there isn't this simplicity where everything works together.
We've said this a million times, okay?
As long as the Broncos can't run the football,
defenses aren't going to respect them in the passing game,
as we saw in this specific game against the 49ers.
You think they went manned coverage quite a bit?
Nah, not at all.
They dropped six to seven guys back consistently in coverage
and played that soft-shell zone
because they knew that Denver wasn't going to run the football consistently enough.
That to me is what gets so frustrating is that,
I'm watching teams like the Cleveland Browns.
And I know everyone makes fun of the Browns.
And I perceive the Browns.
I mean, the Browns are playing well this year.
But I'm watching other teams.
I'm watching other bad teams around the NFL.
And I'm watching them run the ball well.
I'm watching them get five to six yards.
I'm watching them pick up first downs on third and two, third and three by running the ball
downhill from under center.
It's just like the Broncos offense, their identity is not messing up with who the players are.
And certainly I think you've got to start.
If you're Sean Payton, you're going to start ramping up some pressure on
players that are maybe falling behind in the race for this scheme to be what it needs to be,
whether it be on the offensive line, skill player positions.
Guys are going to have to step up now, especially with the injury to Pat Bryant.
But what's the common denominator with all of this?
It's the offensive line.
Everyone says it's the best offensive line in football.
I'm sorry.
I disagree.
We've had this conversation this year several times.
You got one of the best guards in football in Quinn Miners, best tackles in football in Garibals.
Yes.
but there's deficiencies and drop-offs from the other guys on a consistent basis in this scheme.
So what is, so what is this team's identity?
They don't have it.
They don't have it.
Defense, defense and Jeremy Croshaw.
That's not a good thing, Cody.
Your defense and your punter.
That's not good.
What's the square peg?
like what's the square peg here like is it the players or is it the scheme like do the bros
not have the so what but what i'm saying is like we got to work with what you got right you got a
you got to you got to figure it out because that's part of what has been so intriguing about let's just
use the continue to use the browns as an example right now that's what's been so intriguing about
them is they got fresh eyes on that organization with todd munkin coming in to be their head
coach and go figure what does he like to emphasize as a coach dating back to i mean
I mean, wherever the heck he's been, Ravens, Georgia, run the ball.
But what has been so intriguing about that offense this year is that the players that they have, rookies even,
and including back to last year with Harold Fanon at the tight end position,
they're just like, hey, we got this really good tight end.
You know what we should do?
We should draw up some plays to get him open and get him the football.
Hey, we just got this really good wide receiver in the NFL draft name.
What's his name?
Boston. He's pretty darn good. We should get him the ball. Hey, we also drafted this other
receiver this year, Casey Concepcion, who's pretty darn good. We should get him the ball.
It's a novel concept to say, hey, we've got these players. We should get them the ball.
But I'll go back to this once again. It's like Turtle hit the nail on the head earlier.
Same problems, different week. But why is Jalen Waddle not the featured player in this offense? I don't
get it. I don't understand it. It makes no sense. He's not the gravitational pull for which
this offense revolves around. He's not that. And I don't get it. I don't, you give up a first and a
third round pick for this guy, and he's not doing hardly anything in the early stages of games.
I just feel like they're getting everything wrong from the standpoint of saying, we got to commit to
the run. We got to run the ball more. And the announcers during the game are saying, by the way,
the Broncos have 12 pass plays compared to three run plays so far in this game.
They're not committed to the run.
It's like, I'm ripping my hair out over here, watching you morons.
Say this.
Tell us, gaslight us and it's saying, hey, we need to run the ball more.
And we're like, yes, that sounds great.
Hey, we need to start fast.
Yeah, that sounds awesome.
And then we get to the game and they're not running.
They're not starting fast.
They look incompetent.
They're moving backwards.
They're dropping passes.
They're not throwing to Jalen Wattle.
Cortland Sutton is trying to tackle defensive backs for no reason.
I don't know what's happening, guys.
I have no clue what is happening.
Sarah is sounding like a throwback kind of school,
what was a schoolhouse rock, you know, with everything that he just said.
But, Sarah, this is what we already know.
This is why I said to you before,
if you go back to Sean, it's going to be more of the same
because when Sean was at the helm, we had Marvin Mims, right?
And Marvin Mims was supposed to be used in the same row that Jalen Waddle is now being used, right?
But you see him out there, but you don't get him involved.
And you don't get him involved into things go haywire, and then you bring him in in the fourth quarter.
And now you're throwing a pass.
Like you said, you brought in Jaden Waddle.
Everyone was so excited at training camp, as Cody, right?
People were applauding every single show.
shot down the field and all the shots that we saw in training camp.
We're seeing none of them now.
I mean, just hearing the announcers talk about the Broncos and Boonex, well, you know,
most of his passes were just 10 yards.
Nothing beyond 10 yards.
Now, you do that to settle a quarterback or settle a guy in, but I don't think that's
the whole game plan, but that's what we saw all day long.
So it is a problem.
And what's happening is that now Broncos country,
Now they can stand up and truly admit, right?
Yes, were we fooling ourselves saying, hey, man, we love those comebacks.
Great job.
How were we getting here?
And now the other shoe has dropped.
And now it's Panicville right now.
Yeah, I know you're spot on.
Let's go hit a break here.
When we come back, we'll continue to kind of dissect this offense.
Bow, Knicks, Rough Day at the office scheme continues to have some questions around it.
We'll continue along with that.
We'll come back right here on your lock.

and you low Puro, could he works here, veteran, Nick Ferguson and Cameron Parker continuing to
react to the Broncos blunder in San Francisco 24 to 14 year final score in this one.
And look, I love the clown on break May, right?
And I know like there's like all these narratives and this kind of stuff that's thrown around.
Bow Nix is not beating the checkdown merchant narratives after what we saw today, though.
I mean, just like the inability to work the middle of the field was apparent.
Obviously, what's so funny is I'm sitting there in the fourth quarter, right?
And it's like they put this touchdown drive together.
And it's Jaylen Waddle and it's all this, right?
And at that point, I'm like, oh my gosh, you're going to do it again, right?
and it's just like a tail of not even two halves.
It's just like you see this team flip the switch sometimes.
I'm sure part of it's because of the coverage that San Francisco is electing to play at that point in the game, right?
But there's so much frustration, right?
We've talked about the running back.
We've talked about Jalen Wattle.
We've talked about Bo.
And I'm not sure if it's like, it's definitely some idea of like all the above, right?
But whatever we're seeing offensively from this Broncos team, like it just, it can.
can't continue to go this way. And to kind of piggyback off what Nick was saying before the break is like these last two wins, right, against Jacksonville and the Rams respectively. And then obviously with all the comeback from last year, like, you kind of been a way like forget how bad they've played in some of these games because of the way that they win these games. And that's the thing is the themes overall that we saw with the Broncos last year in some of their losses. And obviously their two losses this year are still kind of present with this team so far. So I don't really know where the jumping off point here is, fellas.
Obviously, it comes down to coaching among some other things,
but it is frustrating to watch this Broncos offense, no way around it.
Well, look, and no defense is going to respect them until they can run the ball.
I mean, I don't know how many freaking times we got to say it here on a post game show, this, that, and the other.
When you have no threat of a run game, man, man, it makes it so easy.
Like the Broncos, they're not seeing man covered.
They're seeing two high shell zone coverage, for, you know this as well.
So when people are like, how come the Broncos don't attack the middle of the field?
Well, you're not throwing into the middle of field where Fred Warner is.
You're not throwing it to that little window right behind him in front of the two
safety.
He's like, you have to find your spots.
And ideally, you're getting a lot of cover two looks from these teams.
And I think the problem here is, all right, now you're trying to throw it to the outside.
I felt like there were a couple throws both through to the outside.
There was one specific one where he threw it outside to Cortland Sutton, where I felt
like Cortland could have caught it, right?
And kind of hit the hands, kind of went through the hands.
There was one out route that he threw in this game.
I can't remember exactly who it was to, but I felt like the placement was
good and the DB made a great play on the football. But you are right. Like how come we're not
seeing more slants? How can we're not seeing, I mean, just even simple sit patterns.
Snag concepts at the middle of the field where you put the linebacker in a bind and then you
run a route right behind him at that point. Like the Broncos are running these routes that,
you know, sometimes we're seeing they take a little bit of time to develop and then the short
stuff like you're forced to take the check down because guess what? That's what the defense wants
you to do. They're going to take away the deep stuff. They want you to throw it short. So
they can rally and tackle.
And the reason that this keeps happening is because the Broncos can't run the ball.
And they simply refuse to try to commit to it.
They abandon it when it feels like, okay, we had one play.
We only gained one yard or we're going backwards.
Sarah and I had a very interesting stat.
And I'll be curious to see what it is after this game.
I don't have it.
But like coming into this game, after the Broncos got a on first and 10,
they ran the ball for three or fewer yards on first and 10.
You know what they would do on second down 100% of the time?
Throw it.
11 out of 11 times through three weeks.
Like that is a tendency there.
And so if I know that as a defensive guy,
you know what I'm doing in Ferg,
you know this coaching DBs.
We're playing the sticks.
We're not letting you get downfield.
We're going to have you throw three to four yards.
We're going to go rally and tackle.
Then we're going to stuff you on third and short.
You know what?
The problem with this team,
and I was charting it all game long,
the number of under center plays opposed to shotgun plays.
And from a defensive standpoint,
that tells me right away what you're going to do
offensively. I mean, 80% of the time, we're thinking it's a pass. Now, the Broncos did run a little
RPO out of it. They did run a direct handoff out of it as well. But for the most part,
that's a passing formation. You are not helping your quarterback at all. And I've seen this dating
back to last year. And I'm like, man, I don't watch film the way I watched as a coach,
but I still watch it now. But there are some things that are showing up consistently. When the
Broncos need a third down play, you can look at it by formation.
Find 14, right?
He's going to tell you what it is, and they love to run that dagger concept where they have
someone clear out and here comes Cortland Sutton breaking underneath.
They got to stop that.
I mean, if I can see that I know of the teams definitely can see it as well.
So when we look at why this team is where they are and why they're starting slow, it's
execution.
It has a lot to do with creativity from a play call at standpoint.
Because here's what Kyle did when we saw the Broncos defense stuff from Kristen McCaffrey.
What did Kyle do?
He didn't abandon the run game.
He brought him another back.
He ran the ball with Kalin Black.
Then CMC came back.
Then they ran it with him.
And then they ran it with Debo Samuel.
You sense in the theme?
I mean, being around Kyle Shanahan and being around Mike Shanahan,
the one thing I know of all anything else,
They're going to put their quarterback under center.
Why?
Because that opens up the offense.
And also, too, man, the Broncos got to miss me with this, so many condensed formations.
Man, open that thing up because when you run condensed formation, you bring defenders inside the box.
I was thinking the same thing.
There was one particular play where I think it was Pat Bryant motioned.
He wasn't even out very far wide to the right side of the formation.
And he motioned in right off the right off the right hip.
of either the right tackle or the tight end.
And then they ran right up the right near him.
And I was like, why did you just bring an extra defensive player with Pat Bryant right into the thick of this play?
So it is, I honestly, guys, I don't, as we're, you know, seeing the chat, try to diagnose, like, what, what do we do?
What, like, what can be done about these problems going forward?
What is an actual solution here?
I don't even know where you really begin other than what we've said many times, like commitment to the.
running game and a scheme that actually has sustainability that obviously at this point the
comfortability has to be from Davis Webb and Sean Payton. And if you're a quarterback for all
intensive purposes, it's a bit bipolar in a sense that he doesn't start fast, but also he'll
end games and you'll essentially see how good of a quarterback he really is when the chips are down.
It's just like you've got to do stuff that's going to make him comfortable. I mean, you know,
as we were talking about earlier, you've got to do timing.
routes. You got to do things that's essentially going to make him feel the most comfortable.
And we aren't really seeing much of that.
No, no. Look, man, it's, like I said, to kind of go back to what I said a couple of minutes ago,
like if they would have won this game, much like the Ram game, much like the Jaguar game,
and I think of most of Broncos countries kind of honest with themselves, you have kind of a
sickening feeling when you're like watching these games for like 75 to 80% of it.
right and it's like we let the good that happens at the end of these games as we should to a certain extent
kind of fill our cup up right like okay like they came from behind they won these games like awesome and
we kind of forget some of these issues or just hope that they'll work themselves out with time
but a game like today and a loss like today is kind of that gut punch and that you know come back
to reality type of moment of not that this broncos team is so far off necessarily but as
I like to call like the magic carpet ride can only take you so far right like these at some point
you've got a bottom out. At some point, you're not going to be able to come from behind and
win all these games. And what's crazy is you look at the Rams and the Jags. Like, in a way,
this felt like it was maybe the most attainable because of how your defense was playing. Right,
you were down, what was it? 16 Zip against the Rams. I forget what they were down at halftime
against the Jags, but this was like a three, three game. It felt like forever. And you were
just waiting for this offense to do something and reward this defense. And they were just
unable to do it. And I understand it's on the road. So that factors into it too, fellas.
But it's perplexing, right? It is a, it is a, it is a,
flexing situation right now. Well, to the point about like the bunch formations too,
you know, that you're seeing like when you're playing a cover two zone defense and you got
these bunch formations, you know what we're doing. We're combo in. We're,
corners playing. I'm taking whatever comes outside. You'll have a nickel or a safety or
whoever's cheated over there. It's like you'll, you'll have those guys take whoever comes
inside and you'll get some routes at times, right, where you're trying to get these cover two
beaters because you have certain vulnerable spots, right? And the vulnerable spots against cover two
middle of the field. And then you have that window there between the corner.
and the safety. The thing that I'm trying to figure out with this team is like, okay,
if teams are willing to just live with their corners playing outside leverage cover two,
they can sink at five yards and can play the sticks if they want to. They can disguise it
really well. What's the key there? Well, guess what? Run the ball a little bit. Get three or four
yards on first down. I felt like at times, and it seemed like when they were down and they had
to go up tempo, they ran the ball well because you want to know why? Because the defense is
playing everybody back now. They're softening up and now the run game is going late in the fourth quarter.
You got to find a way to dictate the terms in the first half. And I don't know what the perfect
solution is here, right? Because it's multifaceted. Some of it is scheme. Are you running the right
stuff against the scheme that you're going against? And on top of that, you're having these
lapses of execution from certain personnel guys, whether it be the quarterback, whether it be an
offensive lineman, whether it be a false start on a receiver or something like that. Like there's
just these mishaps and Denver consistently hurts themselves. And I, and I,
And look, I think there's other things we certainly got to talk about here on today's show.
You know, I think a lot of people are talking about Marvin Mims, the fumble.
I know it's debatable.
But apparently, I mean, when you do see the replay, it is wrist.
And I always knew that the rule was forearm.
I mean, your wrist is attached to your forearm a little bit.
Like, you don't get one without the other.
They're not going to give you that.
No.
But here's the thing.
But here's the thing.
We're not going to be like Rams fans.
That's not the reason that they lost.
Yes.
Did that play swing negatively in their favor because San Francisco Square?
Absolutely.
Denver could have got to stop.
Denver could have executed earlier to where they weren't even put in that position.
So unfortunately, you got to live with it.
It happens for you sometimes.
It happens against you.
But that's not the reason Denver lost this game.
They got to do some soul searching out because now you're two and two on the season.
You've got a really tough stretch coming up because, look, you don't want to be the team that gives the winless chargers their first win.
And then you have to turn it around on a short week to play the Seattle Seahawks.
They played well against the Seahawks, all things considered.
I mean, they came back late.
At the beginning, they were getting dogwalk.
What was it?
It was 27 to 3 or 27 to 6 at one point, and then they let them back in.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Unfortunately, it does.
And Broncos struggle in SOFi.
Well, also, here's the deal.
You may not have PS2 or Riley Moss in this game either.
Yeah.
That's right.
And the change thing.
Here's the one thing that we're not seeing really quickly.
Well, because when I look at the guys who are tasked with spending almost 80 hours a week at the Broncos facility coming up with these game plans, I am not seeing certain route combinations.
And I know it's different with each offensive coordinator.
I'm not even seeing switch routes.
I'm not seeing where you flood the zone.
And we're talking about basic principles.
Like, when you know a team's going to play in cover two and drop back, well, you know what?
You have to find ways to attack.
I'm like everyone knows now if a team is playing, you know, maybe three or four.
Listen, what you do, like in cover two, it's four verticals.
We're not even seeing that.
I'm not even seeing stuff like double D-nodes.
That's double post.
I'm not seeing any of those rocks concepts.
So I'm wondering with all the hours that they're putting in, I mean, who's coming up with the plays?
Is it David Webb truly controlling the offense?
That's what I don't know.
Is it Johnny Mo?
I don't know who's the passing game coordinator.
I think it's Johnny Moe.
Well, listen.
Hey, what happened to Johnny Moe in Detroit?
What happened?
Hold on.
I'm just saying.
Deboed.
I'm just saying.
Zach Streep was in charge of the Office of Line.
Now, he's the run game coordinator as an offensive lineman, a former
offensive lineman in this offense.
And what is the Bronco not doing well?
They're not running the ball.
So I'm not going to.
put it on street. Maybe he is frustrated as hell because there's certain things that he wants to do
that he can't do. Yeah. No, it's true. It's true. You know, there's a lot to unpack with this Broncos team
and these losses, you know, make some of their holes more and more glaring. Let's hit our final break.
We can come back. Let's go rapid fire on a couple of topics. We'll do a little injury update here and just
kind of break down what happened with the Broncos in this game and a couple other around the horn topics as we align down here.

mental health is part of regular life and therapy doesn't have to be reserved for the biggest
moments in your life it can also be a place to work through the smaller things that take up more
mental space than you realize a stressful situation at work a relationship dynamic you can't
quite put your finger on or simply that feeling that something feels a little bit off guys look
i relate to this stuff um you know you're great one day you're riding high one day and you're
down the dumps the next it could be a roller coaster ride right stress holidays family relationships
whatever it might be. It never hurts in this day and age. And really just in general, but I love
how mental health is becoming more and more normalized to kind of talk about. But it's always a good
thing to have someone on your side that will let you talk through these things and make sure that
you're in a good place mentally. That's what our friends over at BetterHelp are here for.
You don't necessarily have to wait until everything feels completely overwhelming to start
paying attention to your mental health as well. If something has been taking up a lot of mental
space, talking through it can be one way to start making sense of what's going on.
If you've been wanting to start therapy, BetterHelp works with more than 125 health plan networks,
and eligible members have an average co-pay up just $23 per session with insurance.

Sera Beninger, Cam Barker, and Nick Ferguson.
Let's go rapid fire here.
Three big injuries to three players.
Obviously, Pat Sartan is probably the most notable of the bunch.
Riley Moss, dealing with, I believe it was a rib injury.
And Pat Bryant looks like an ankle injury there as well.
So we'll kind of debrief this stuff in our show that's coming out later this week.
Hopefully we have some more information, fellows.
But let's start with Sartan.
I mean, anytime you see the non-contact,
stuff and, you know, I was able to walk off with the help of a trainer, didn't have to go out
on a cart.
I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing necessarily.
But you're talking about, you know, your best defensive player in Pat Surtain and one
of the best players in the NFL period.
Yeah.
I mean, it's a big blow.
Like losing him, you know, I think the first thing, anytime you think non-contact, like,
oh, no, like that was our first thing.
But I feel like the good thing was he was walking off.
Even though he had an arm around each trainer, he was putting weight on each foot as he
walked out.
to me that's a promising sign i've never torn my achilles and knock on what i pray and never do i've
torn my acal and the one thing i've always been praying about is please don't ever tell your achilles it's
the one thing i worry about is i get older um but usually within achilles you can't walk guys can't walk
on it it's very painful you can't put any weight on it usually guys get carted off in that
instance so for the cart to come out for pat bryant that's the one that concerned me the most
yeah and i would just say like as far as uh ps2's injury it is a little bit concerning obviously
when your best player goes down um but i will say too like shout out shot a baron by the way
um yeah uh you know for for for stepping in and in place of you know moss you know PS2 i mean
he played his butt off uh you know when when he when he was called upon um but yeah it's
going to be interesting to see you know how they adjust but hopefully for a game and for baron and the
of exposure that he finally, you know, was able to have.
Unfortunately, it was due to injury, he can be able to build off of something like that.
Yeah, no, I'm with you.
Sarah, Nick, you have any thoughts here on Sartan real quick?
Yeah, obviously, I think like these guys have been saying, you know,
if you see a guy that's walking off the field, I would assume if it was something as
serious as Achilles or what have you, that, I mean, you're bringing out the cart and you're
saying, hey, we're not going to, I'm not going to risk anything like that.
The fact that he had a questionable designation, even after the injury, and they were kind of
looking at it and giving their initial examinations also gives me some optimism as well.
But you guys know me.
I'm the eternal optimist.
Even after the game, like regarding Pat Bryant, Bo Nix said, hopefully we see him back out there
sooner rather than later.
So you kind of take some of those comments at face value or some of those things at face
value and just kind of say, well, hopefully it's not serious, right?
Hopefully for Pat Bryant, like what it looked like based on Cortland Sutton's reaction on the
field is the dude just broke his ankle.
he was looking at a bone sticking out on the field because he like dropped to a knee so quick,
right?
But you just kind of hope that you've avoided disaster because ultimately the margin for error
just feels so thin.
See, that's always the hope with the lower body injury.
When you look at Pat Bryant's injury, it's a little different than PS2.
PS2 non-contact injury.
And it just takes me back to my days coach in San Francisco.
It's a couple of days before we're set to go play Minnesota Vikings on the road.
Jet McKinnon is running an F. Angle route, a Texas route, all by himself.
No one touching.
He falls on the ground, right?
We're losing for the season.
And that was kind of the first thing I thought when I saw PSU.
But similar to watching Caleb Williams kind of go down himself, now we know it's called
the first grade hamstring string.
But that didn't look good with PSU.
And I know he walked off and they helped him out.
So I'm hoping that worst case scenario, it's a high ankle spring.
And if it was a high ankle sprain, he's going to be out for a while.
And when you look at the Bronco schedule, they got the charges, Seattle, Arizona, and Kansas City.
So you wonder how long he's going to be out.
You wonder what's going to happen with Riley Moss, who had a rib injury, right?
How long that's going to keep him out?
And then you think about Pat Bryant.
that injury looks more than just, oh, just a sprain ain't.
Well, you cross the fingers and you hope.
That looks like something that's kind of season-ending type of injury.
So we'll wait to see what the reports are going to be.
But with the Broncos now having these injuries, think about this.
Last season, yeah, they had guys who were nicked up, but never at this stage of the season.
That is something that I always said, because Sarah, you say the Broncos are 17 and 0 until they're not.
And I say the only thing that could derail any Super Bowl hopes or any push for the playoffs would be a run on injuries.
And right now, they are experiencing their injuries.
Now, here's what I say from a positive standpoint.
You never want to wish injury on anyone.
But if you're going to have them, I would prefer you have them now than at the back half of the season.
True.
I wish we could turn the sliders off, injury sliders, right?
Like it was mad at it.
Like no injuries whatsoever, unfortunately.
I mean, we saw it, not just in this game, I just think in a lot of games today around the NFL, we see injuries.
You know, and a lot of it, too, we're seeing it come off of a hip drop tackle.
I mean, I'm surprised RJ Harvey last week against the Rams didn't get hurt when Quentin Lake hip drop tackled him.
That Lake ultimately got fined, I think, $40,000 for Pat Bryant gets hip-drop tackled in this game, gets carted off the field.
I mean, it's hard, like the speed of the game.
And this is where I'm conflicted.
And Ferg, I know you feel the same exact way.
It's hard as a defensive guy because you're trying to get to stop.
You're trying to play fast.
And if you have to think about all this stuff, you're going to play slow.
And you're also going to get yourself hurt as a defensive player.
It's just it's tough to see it.
But I do feel like PS2 is the easy one to say here is like, what's the biggest impact loss if a guy has to miss games?
PS2.
But I think offensively, the loss of Pat Bryant, I think that would be massive for the offense specifically.
And it's going to force other guys to step up.
But losing PB on offense, I feel like was a massive.
massive blow. Well, Sean Payton is thinking, we're okay. You know why? We have my safety net and my
good friend La Jordan Humphrey. Welcome back. Yeah, we have him in our park. When they were talking
on the broadcast after Pat got injured about the team released LaJuan Humphrey. Then there was a
shot on LaJuan Humphrey. Guess what? Right? He was right there on the sideline. Right? So he traveled.
So the Broncos are now going to lean on him. They're going to say, listen, if we have to miss Pat,
for a couple of games or even the season.
They're going to say, we're okay.
We're good because once again, you get Marvin Mims who just came back.
Yeah.
You know, injuries are never fun, man.
No, they're not.
I was just going to say really quickly before we're finishing up here,
you don't want it to be because of injuries.
But, man, I almost wonder if it benefits the Broncos in any possible way,
not because they don't have Pat Bryant because I'd rather have Pat Bryant.
So don't take this the wrong way.
but to maybe limit the amount of times during the course of a game that they're changing offensive personnel and to just ride with a certain group of guys and to say, hey, like, this is the group of guys that's going to be out here primarily for this game.
And like unless it goes awry, we're going to treat this like a starting lineup in baseball where you guys are the nine guys out there.
Unless you have to be taken out for some reason, you're like we're trusting you when your opportunities up in the lineup.
you got to get a hit or when you're up to you know when you're out in the field you got to make plays if the ball comes your way i almost wonder if it benefits the broncos to
condense and limit their i mean because that's part of the problem to me is that they're constantly taking guys out
they're constantly having new guys in there and it's like all these different personnel groupings and
what even are we doing because when you don't have an identity how can you be out there saying well we got
we got this speed package we got this heavy package we've got courtland and troy out here for this
package and it's like none of this makes any sense because you're not doing any of it well so find
what you can do well with a certain group of guys and then kind of see from there if you can add the
wrinkles of additional personnel groupings hey sir don't hold your bread don't don't do it because
once again last year was this not the conversation when we saw
Sarah looked like a small kid, five-year-old,
who was trying to throw a tantrum by one ice cream,
and then they just go,
but no, man,
then we see this last year when the rotation of the running backs, right?
And they didn't allow anyone to get in the group.
That was under Sean Payton.
So once again, I raised a question again,
who's actually calling the planes?
I know we see Davis Webb with the call.
But is he being forced to call plays that he doesn't want to call?
Yeah.
It's one of the questions that needs answering, right?
I think you all understand that Scha team.
It doesn't seem like that, though.
Like, I'll say this.
Every time they put the camera,
every time I'm watching the game in the press box and I'm looking at Davis,
like it doesn't seem like Sean's not saying anything.
Sean is just,
Sean's observing, you know.
I don't.
Who's to say that Sean,
they give him those plays a call and say, yeah,
We want to do this and this and this and this personal group in down the distance.
So he's got a call.
Exactly.
What's on the call sheet?
Yeah, but I mean, like I said, I got, I'll tell you this.
I've asked players about that.
That's not, that's not what's going on.
Well, what's going on?
Because ask them that question then.
Who knows?
Yeah.
What is going on?
I'll try.
I'll get back to you.
Jeez.
It looks like Davis Webb was like a line cook at like a Chili's, right?
Where it's like the new set.
Wow.
He's not like, he's not like the chef like in the kitchen,
able to like create it and do it the way they want, Fred.
You know?
He called that man to line.
He's down bad.
He's down way bad, man.
It's just kind of what it looks like.
You know, give this guy some creative freedom as the chef to, you know,
make these dishes the way that he wants.
I don't know.
But I think,
I think ultimately at the end of the day, it is heavily influenced by Sean Bion, of course.
The Broncos are the bear.
They're the whole plot of the bear where Karmie is struggling to give up the,
he's struggling to give up the control of the restaurant, man.
That's it.
We got a Chili's reference and then we got a bear reference.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm hungry.
Oh, I'm looking.
All right.
Good stuff.
We'll be back at it again here in a little while.
Obviously, a disappointing outcome for the Broncos here is they lose to the 49ers,
24 to 14.
They're at two and two.
I'll leave you all with this, the silver lining,
at least the one thing I've been saying.
Get to three and three through these first six, and you're going to be okay, right?
There are still within striking distance of accomplishing that goal that I personally set out for them.
So we'll see what happened next week in San Francisco or in L.A.
Four and two.
You want to bet on that?
You still have two chickens?
No.
No, I'm just saying four and two.
That's what I said months ago.
I'm going to stick with it.
I can't jump off the ship now just because they lost.
That's about.
I think three and three is fine, though.
Like I really do.
But just how tough those first six games are and then you kind of go from there.
and just got to hope injuries don't add up right like obviously you're losing some guys now you just got to hope they've done the spider into losing other guys i mean because it could force you injuries could force you to have to do some desperate stuff and you don't want to certainly do that or you just have to go through and just play the the patience process knowing okay hey this is the tough stress but now we're going to really make a run on the second half you don't want to have to do that but now you got LA and then you got a short week on thursday night against the Seahawks and oof got to hope that certan i don't think certan'll play against the chargers my early gut feeling the loin
are telling me that.
And then I think you'll maybe hopefully,
best case scenario,
hopefully you can get him back
for the Seattle game.
But man,
if they don't have him against JSNN,
oh, oh, that is going to be a night.
Scary.
Yeah, dude.
Scary.
All right, we will debrief a little bit later
