Episode Date: August 17, 2026

The Denver Broncos running back room looks better than it has in a handful of years. With J.K. Dobbins set to be the primary back, RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman appear to be the next two in line.... How can Harvey and his skillset, and Coleman's skillset coexist inside of Davis Webb's offensive philosophy? Cody Roark and Sayre Bedinger break that down plus discuss how Red Murdock is the next man up in the LB3 role after Levelle Bailey's preseason injury and whether or not Marvin Mims and Jaylen Waddle return to the field this week and practice.   Cody Roark is a credentialed beat reporter for Mile High Sports and provides boots-on-the-ground coverage of the Broncos daily in person. Starting point is 00:00:00 Denver Broncos rookie running back, Jonah Coleman was exciting in his NFL debut, but it doesn't need to come at the cost of burying R.J. Harvey. Starting point is 00:00:40 there's some hope that they're going to get healthy this week. Will we see Marvin Mims, Jalen Waddle back into the mix this week? We'll talk about that. Plus, Denver's linebacker three battle just took a very interesting turn after one player suffered a major injury and now has to have surgery and we'll miss some ample time. It does create opportunity for other guys in that room. But we're going to kick things off by talking about the excitement around Jonah Coleman and even R.J. Harvey here seems to be a little bit of a polarizing.
Starting point is 00:01:05 subject because people are so excited about Jonah Coleman. You're seeing a lot of Broncos fans suddenly turn on RJ Harvey, which is wild to me. Sarah, I saw a lot of this in the postgame reactions like Jonah Coleman was super fun to watch, right? Like we talked about him. We raped about him in our post game show following Friday's preseason game. I'm seeing a lot of people saying, okay, well, the Broncos can now get rid of RJ Harvey. Why, folks? Why are we doing this?
Starting point is 00:01:30 Can't we just enjoy nice things? I want to know your thoughts on this, sir, before we dive a little bit deeper. into this topic and as to how both of these guys can coexist in the backfield with J.K. Dobbins. Let's introduce everybody to the power of and, Cody, because right now everybody's focusing on the heaviness of ore. It has to be one or the other. But what if I told you, you could have both RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman playing well on your football team here in the year 2026, as well as J.K. Dobbins. I know that Sean Payton has mentioned a number of times that it's difficult to feature more than two backs in an offense, which is understandable, right? You're not necessarily writing up
Starting point is 00:02:14 and drawing up plays for three different backs every single week when you also have, you know, four or five receivers and you got a couple of tight ends, you got your, or your quarterback, who obviously can do some things on his own. So I get it. I understand it. There's maybe a little bit of hesitance to buy into the entire stable of backs. But ultimately, you and I have talked about this. It feels like a very fantasy football type of mindset as opposed to a, hey, how can we win a Super Bowl type of mindset? When you're thinking in terms of winning the Super Bowl, having both RJ Harvey and his
Starting point is 00:02:46 progression this year, which I think we saw some nice runs from him between the tackles against the Falcons on Friday night, but also Jonah Coleman and what he brings to the table in terms of his inside running, creating yardage after contact. We didn't even get to really see him get involved in the passing game yet either. So there's so much from both of these guys that I would say, let's talk about the power of and Jonah and RJ, both. Why not both, Cody? That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:03:14 I say let's take both if we can. Why not? I mean, here's the thing too. You go back to what Sean says about that. I have a very strong feeling Davis Webb will find a way to feature three. Now, it may come at the cost of some guys sacrificing the number of touches that they get. But ultimately, like just knowing J.K. Dobbins, J.K. is a team guy. Knowing R.J. Harvey, RJ is a team guy.
Starting point is 00:03:37 You think that these guys were going to pow and sulk if they have to spread touches out amongst three different backs. I don't think that's going to be the case with this specific Broncos roster. Not every NFL team is like this. Not every running back room around the NFL is like this. But what do we know, Sarah? It's a 17-game regular season schedule. the running back position absorbs a lot of contact throughout the year. And we've seen over the last handful of years just how important it is to have a strong run game
Starting point is 00:04:04 if you want to win a Super Bowl. The Broncos, they need a strong run game. But I think when you put it all on one or two guys, well, certainly you set yourself up for maybe some failure, especially if one of those guys goes down. That's what happened to the Broncos last year with JK. But if you could find a way to keep JK fresh, or do you reduce the amount of touches in a sense where he can maybe suffer something, you do that. RJ Harvey had 12 plus touchdowns as a rookie last year.
Starting point is 00:04:27 And I think a lot of people forget that because when JK went down, RJ didn't have as much success running the football. But I want to note, and I've said this a million times here, the Broncos have specifically stated they didn't believe that was a personnel issue. They didn't believe that was an RJ Harvey issue. They believed it was scheme relative. And what do we see a little bit in Friday's preseason game? We saw some really good balance between running out a shotgun,
Starting point is 00:04:52 but primarily the Broncos establishing the run from the onset while under center with the quarterback position, including RJ Harvey running behind Quinn Miners for a first down, picking up a couple of first downs. The inside run stuff there is there for RJ Harvey. I think so much of the run game today, people want to see 20 yard runs. They want to see 25-yard runs. That's great. That stuff will come, but this isn't Madden. This isn't arcade mode where you're breaking off 15 to 25-yard runs a pop. Real NFL football, smash-mouth football, is about getting three to four yards here and there. And then maybe, six-yarder. And then maybe you break a big one, right? It's methodical. It's not just this one
Starting point is 00:05:30 explosive play. I think Broncos country has been starved from seeing these explosive runs, not the ones you get from Taco Bell, but the ones on the football. But to the point, it's like, okay, well, you know, four-yard runs aren't that exciting to me. Like, they look at Jonah Coleman, having that 13-yard run where he cut back, he bounced off a couple of guys, he spun and were like, that's what we want. Yes, you can have both Harvey and Coleman, I think both can have essential roles inside of this offense, even if they're not the primary guys. And they have the right mindset and leadership for it too.
Starting point is 00:06:04 They do. And look, there's the element of explosiveness to varying degrees with this entire running back stable, right? I mean, you got me thinking about the Taco Bell lettuce and all that stuff now, Cody. So I'm distracted. No,
Starting point is 00:06:17 but in all seriousness, J.K. Dobbins was top five in the NFL last year in terms of explosive runs of 10 plus yards, when he was healthy, right? He was, I think, tied for fourth in that category or something to that degree. And then we had obviously R.J. Harvey, who I believe is your true home run hitter in this offense. I think it was that Titans game where he scored from 60 plus yards out or whatever that was that you can see. This guy has like when he gets to that gear, there's no other running back on the team that has that gear.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And so RJ is your true like home run hitter from, you know, 70 yards out. He's the one guy that I think can run away from everybody in this group. And then Jonah Coleman was number one in his draft class in 10 plus yard runs as well. So he's got the explosives. But I think Jonah and JK are those guys who can rumble and bumble and stumble, as Chris Berman used to say, you know, for their 20 yard gains or their 15 yard gains. And they can break off those chunks. But RJ Harvey is the guy who can hit you some home runs. He can break off a big run for 40, 50, 60 plus yards.
Starting point is 00:07:24 because he has that kind of top end speed. And so there's a variance of skill sets here that I think when you look at Jonah Coleman and J.K. Dobbins, they exude or, you know, they're giving, as my kids would say, they're giving traditional running back, right? They're giving what people understand about the running back position. Typically big, thick, low cut guys who can break tackles, who can be powerful. RJ Harvey Harvey can still break tackles. He can still be powerful.
Starting point is 00:07:53 but his game is much more predicated on speed, the passing game, getting out in space, making guys miss, being elusive. So there's a difference in the way that you create yardage after contact. There's a difference in the way that you create big explosive plays for the offense. No Taco Bell lettuce required. And I think they just all have their own different sort of ingredients that they bring into that melding pot. Well, for JK and Jonah, their ideal prototype is to wear defenses down. And then you bring in RJ and then it,
Starting point is 00:08:23 Because defenses are tired, RJ can find that crease. RJ's physical, right? But RJ has that explosive speed ability to break away. I mean, what he did against the Jacksonville Jaguars last year was a great example of that. The Dallas Cowboys game that you were mentioning, even the Tennessee Titans game early on. You started to see these guys pick up a nice rhythm. And now Davis Webb, I think, has this emphasis where he's like, you know what, we are going to commit to running the football. We've seen two preseason games now where Davis Webb has called where the Broncos have had 150 plus
Starting point is 00:08:53 rush yards at 162 collective rushing yards, obviously in Friday's preseason game against the Falcons. So yes, Broncos country, you can be excited about Jonah Coleman, but I still don't think you should be burying R.J. Harvey, who had 12 plus touchdowns last season, RJ is going to be very good inside of this offense, and all three of these running backs can coexist here. But you know what? There is interesting competition taking place here as we talk about Denver's linebacker three spot. There was an interesting development coming out of Friday night's game because they're going to be losing a player in that battle for some significant time due to a major injury. How does it open things up for Mr. Relevant and other guys will tell you here on today's episode of the show?

It's not the news anybody wants to hear. Lavelle Bailey, who's been running with the second team defense all throughout training camp, suffered a broken leg in the preseason.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And as Cody said earlier, that opens up the door of opportunity for some others on the roster. We're going to tell you why Red Murdoch, Karenne Reed, and some others are players to watch now. Going forward for the Broncos in the preseason. But Broncos country, want to quickly say thank you to every single one of you out there that makes Lockdown Broncos, your first listen of the day every single day. And, you know, as we progress through the preseason here, Cody, I think this conversation about LB3, it becomes a little bit more intense. It gets a little more amplified because suddenly you start to realize when the games have stakes
Starting point is 00:11:35 that you are one injury away from blank at any position. This is something that we've talked about throughout the offseason here at linebacker. You're one Alex Singleton or one Justin Sternat injury away from who playing in their place. because right now it's a lot of inexperienced guys. And even more so after Lavelle Bailey suffered a broken leg in the preseason opener against Atlanta, he's not going to be around for a long time at this point. Obviously, he's got to recover from that injury.
Starting point is 00:12:02 I don't know if he'll go on season-ending IR, or what the Broncos will do there, Cody, but I would imagine that would be the case of the broken leg. We'll see. But regardless, the first guy up here is going to be Karen A. Reid, right? I mean, he had a really good play to set up the pick six for Jaday Barron. and he's in his second year now in the defense,
Starting point is 00:12:20 that's got to be a huge edge for him going up against some of these other young guys. Yeah, I'm not sure it's going to be Karenne though, right? I think if we're looking at archetypes, right? Because there's the mic and then there's the wheel. The mic is usually the middle guy. The wheel is the weak side, inside linebacker. And Karené, Rearie is primarily playing a lot of that weak side
Starting point is 00:12:37 because when he and Lavel Bailey were in, Carrane was the will. Lavel Bailey was the mic. And then when Lavel went down, the first guy we saw up was Red Murdoch, which is why I think you look at him. him in the total amount of snaps played. He played more snaps than anybody on defense in Friday's preseason game against
Starting point is 00:12:53 the Falcons. And he was everywhere. He got a lot of playing time, which is nice to see. So it does open up the opportunity for him. But this is where maybe Jordan Turner is going to come into the mix a little bit because he'll portray as a Mike linebacker. He's been on the side field working his way back through an injury. Just last week he came off the non-football injury list.
Starting point is 00:13:11 So if he's back at practice this week, he'll be in the mix here. But you know what, sir? At this point, I understand it. Like I even said in the mini-camp portion of the offseason, hey, I think Jordan Turner's got a great chance to be that LB3. He still does. But I think right now, based on what we've seen with Red Murdoch, give Redd those reps because he can call the defense. He can fly to the football. He gets guys a line.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I think he's more vocal in that regard. Keep him in that spot right now. And then you let a guy like Jordan Turner work his way in while not taken away from Corrine Reed at the wheel linebacker position. I think that that's the spot that they like him at because they can put him in different. different situations there. But for me, I think it's Red that gets called up next. And it does make this linebacker three battle very interesting because now we ask ourselves this question, is this Reds role now, is that number three guy behind Singleton and Sternat? I mean, certainly behind Singleton as the Mike.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Sternat is the wheel linebacker here inside of this system. So Reed is behind him. What about guys like Torrey in New York and Jordan Turner? Now that makes things interesting. And do the Broncos add a linebacker because of this injury? I think they should. I mean, I think you want to have. of guys out there who can at least eat up some reps during the preseason, right? Especially as you kind of go along, you maybe make decisions like we saw with Jonah Coleman, right? I mean, a business decision to kind of take him out of the game after just a handful of carries
Starting point is 00:14:29 in what was not only his first NFL action, but literally his first NFL experience, regardless of whether he's playing or watching a game. I mean, so Sean Payton understands, and he said it after the game too. Like, they kind of know what he brings to the table and you start to maybe think the same way about somebody like Red Murdoch in a way, right? I mean, yes, he's a seventh round pick. He was Mr. Irrelevant in this draft, but immediately after that selection was made,
Starting point is 00:14:55 you and I went on and talked about it, and everybody in the Broncos media world and NFL draft world is talking about, holy cow, this guy should have gone in the fourth or fifth round at the very latest based on what he did in college. And that's typically where you're finding future starters at linebacker. We did that research earlier this offseason as well. Where are teams finding start?
Starting point is 00:15:16 starting inside linebackers. Well, it's typically in the third to fifth round range of the NFL draft. On average, if you look at the guys who started the majority of games in 2025. So Red Murdoch, if he plays to that level, and if he plays like we saw against Atlanta with eight tackles, like you said, eating up a lot of snaps, busted up a screen out there, playing really physical, trying to punch the ball out. And if he's communicating the defense all at the same time, you feel way better about that if somebody gets injured, then blank takes over situation.
Starting point is 00:15:48 You feel better about that. But I still think you go look for, I know the Falcons just cut Troy Anderson. He was a former high draft pick. Maybe you kick the tires there. Maybe there's somebody the Broncos scouted at one point or another. Or they brought in for a workout at one point or another. There's options that they could look at for camp bodies. But I do think you're seeing some guys step up into those roles that were previously big question marks.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Well, now it really does open up the possibility for Tori and, York to make the 53-man roster, right? Because of Lavelle Bailey's injury and the fact that he's going to be on the shelf for quite some time. You think about it this way. You've got Singleton, Sternad, Red Murdoch now. And then Karenne Reid, I think, has earned that right to be that fourth guy because he made the 53-man roster. Last year, he contributed to Jaday Barron's pick six. He certainly looked nice. And then Tori, New York is that fifth guy right now, unless Jordan Turner suddenly comes back this week and then just plays like an absolute monster in these next two games over anybody else.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Well, I think you've got a lot of room to bring Jordan back onto your practice squad, whereas you bring in Torian, you bring in Red, obviously, and Karenne, well, these guys, they'll be special teams players for you while Singleton and Sternad get the start on defense. So the Broncos have flexibility here, but maybe you do bring in another guy to add some competition of the mix. At this point, though, it's always tough to say because who is available. You mentioned Troy Anderson. There are so many other guys that have fizzled out, right?
Starting point is 00:17:09 First, second, third round guys that, you know, we've talked. about, as you mentioned, our research that we did in the offseason, that don't make it as long in the NFL, some of these guys who are taken later. So once again, it goes back to what Sean Peyton has always said. It doesn't matter how you get here, where you went. It's what you do with the opportunity when you're here. And Red Murdoch, I think out of any of the lineback, he and Karenne read, they have made a lot of their opportunities so far. Corrine in his two-year career now and Red so far as a rookie, the returns early on are promising for his type of development and what he can be inside of this system. And that is,
Starting point is 00:17:42 exciting to watch. We'll keep our eye on the Broncos LB3 room and that battle going through this week at training camp and off season preseason game number two against the Green Bay Packers. But coming up next Broncos country, as the Broncos return to practice here today in preparation for Friday's game, maybe Marvin Mims and Jaylon Waddle will be back in the mix. That's our hope because could the Broncos be getting healthy this week? It would come at the right time. Support for today's episode comes from Square. Starting point is 00:19:22 And we've got our eyes on whether or not Jalen Waddle and Marvin Mims are back into the mix alongside some other guys on the Broncos on the Broncos on the Broncos. On the Broncos offensive line. Could Denver be getting healthy at the right time here in training camp and the NFL preseason? Thanks once again for Rocking with us here on Lockdown Broncos. Part of the Lockdown podcast network, your team every day, also the number one sports podcast. Network in the country. This would be a great week for the return of some guys that we've been waiting to see. Marvin Mims has been back at practice in full pads, but he hasn't been doing a lot.
Starting point is 00:19:52 He's been getting a lot of work in on the side field, as has starting center, Luke Wattenberg, Alex Forsyth, Alex Paucheske. Those two guys, Forsyth and Paucheschi warmed up before Friday's preseason game. The Bronco said, you know, we're going to be smart. We're going to hold them out. They should be back this week. And the hope is that Luke Wattenberg, who's been in full pads for almost a full week on the side fill. Hopefully he's back to doing individual and teamwork this week.
Starting point is 00:20:16 That'll be really great to see because ultimately, I don't know how much we really need to see some of these guys in the preseason, but you want them to get a little bit of action, a little dress rehearsal before the start of the regular season. Obviously, on the initial depth chart, which we know doesn't necessarily mean anything at all, I found it interesting. You and I texted briefly about this that Marvin was among the starters with, you know, where Troy Franklin was second on the team in targets last season. I was a little taken aback by that listing there. It may mean nothing.
Starting point is 00:20:46 May mean something we'll see. But ultimately, I want to see Marvin out there with the top offense regardless. And that would be great. It would be awesome to have Bo Nix, you know, getting snaps from either Luke or Forsyth at the very least for his preseason debut. Right?
Starting point is 00:21:01 I know the starting offensive line did a tremendous job against Atlanta. Didn't notice anything in pass protection with, I think it was Throckmorton out there. with the starters, Cody, if memory serves me correctly from just my first rewatch there. And then, you know, I really want to see Jalen Waddle back in the mix, right? I don't know what are your thoughts there. Do you think we're going to see him play in the preseason? Do you think they're going to kind of be cautious about him?
Starting point is 00:21:27 Like, I know we're kind of getting reads on some of these guys based on they're in pads on the side field or they were kind of clearly visibly making their way back. What's your read on Jalen Waddle? Do you think he's going to play against the Packers? Yeah, that's a great question, Sarah, because Jalen has not ever since suffering, you know, his muscle tightness strain, as Sean Payton called it, right? And Sean even said, we'll see him back in four to five days. It has not been four to five days. You know, we have not seen him return doing on-field stuff. He has been on the side field, Sarah, doing a lot of work. I'm watching him rehab. He's not limping. You know, he's doing well. I don't know what the game planner, the approach is here for the Broncos. But let me ask you this. I feel as if Jalen Waddle does not practice this week. Obviously, he will. not play against Green Bay if he doesn't practice. But if he practices this week, I would like to see him get a few snaps at the minimum, at least maybe four or five snaps just to get his fewer because he's still learning this new
Starting point is 00:22:20 offense. He's fitting into a brand new system for him. And there's some nuances that he's trying to get down pat with Bow Nix. And certainly you want to see these guys working together. If he does not play this week in the preseason, Sarah, I would almost hazard a guess and say we won't see him to Monday night football against the Kansas Chiefs. because I think when you weigh the pros and cons, if he's dealing with the soft tissue thing,
Starting point is 00:22:41 okay, maybe you just want to save him for that Monday night game against the Chiefs, even if, you know, he's not fully up to speed in terms of full game speed reps from the preseason that these other guys have certainly gotten. I think Jalen is an established enough player to where that will work for him? Where do you lie on this? And obviously, Broncos countries, you're tuning in today. Let us know your thoughts. But where do you lie on this?
Starting point is 00:23:01 Do you keep Jalen Waddle out of the preseason and just get him there to week one? or do you want to see a little bit of him? I would like to see some of him, Cody. I would. Not to be reckless with his health or anything like that, but I mean, I think, you know, all things considered, if he wasn't hurt,
Starting point is 00:23:18 would everybody also agree that they would want to see him play in the preseason? I mean, you bring in somebody like that, there's no doubt that he's so important to this team. I mean, we've called him and labeled him the missing piece to the offense. And I think that he can be that. I think that's why the Broncos send at first and third round
Starting point is 00:23:35 draft pick to trade for him and give him a press conference, whereas most new acquisitions don't get one. I think there's a reason why you do all that, you know, pomp and circumstance for that guy. And so, I mean, not to not because while he had a press conference, so he should play in the preseason. No, that's not what I'm saying. But I think, like you said, that those game reps are really important. Bo Nix hasn't been out there all offseason.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Like, he missed some time, right? I know these guys have thrown together. I know they're getting reps during practice. together, but now Jalen has also missed time during camp. So I think the more work, whether it's even just limited reps during the preseason, the more work that Bo Nix can get with Jalen Waddle, the more they can get that timing down, I think the better for what they're going to be able to do against Kansas City on Monday night. I agree with you too.
Starting point is 00:24:24 I think it's so important to just have some of that because early on when Jailen was in Pats, he was practicing. I mean, Jalen and Bo, we saw a connection really starting to pick up with those guys. but there were a couple of things too or even Bo Nix himself said, hey, like, don't worry, like don't think too much. Like, just go out there. I'm going to get you the football. I think he said something along those lines to Kay Adams when they were talking on
Starting point is 00:24:45 her show obviously just last week. But the one thing I would also like to see here in terms of Jalen is just where he fits in. Like, what do the role archetypes continue to look like? Because the Broncos have shown to be creative. Look what we saw on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons there, where it was Cortland Sutton, Evan Ingram, Pat Bryant, on a key play out of 11 personnel where Pat Bryant and Evan Ingram drew the attention of three different defenders that left Cortland Sutton with a one-on-one.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Now, just imagine, and you and I said this in our post-game show, Broncos Country, go back to that 40-yard play that Cortland had. Now imagine Jalen Waddle. Imagine Jalen Waddle lined up in the slot where Pat Bryant was or on the other side where Evan Ingram was. And now the defense has to focus on Jalen and Pat in the middle of the field. That's going to free up one-on-ones for Cortland. And now if they dictate and they roll the safety over to Cortland, there's Pat Bryant for a big game.
Starting point is 00:25:38 There's Jaylon Wattle across the middle for a big gain. It unlocks so much of this offense. That's why the Broncos went out and they made the trade for a guy like Jalen Waddle to add him into the mix with this system. And hats off to Davis Webb did a fantastic job in Friday's preseason game. This isn't even a sliver of what we expect to see from this offense. I think if Friday night was a little bit of a taste, Broncos country, you should be really excited about the things that this offense. can do and the things that they might commit to if they get the run game going under center the way that they did obviously in the preseason game but also just the personnel and then not even this
Starting point is 00:26:12 people aren't even talking about Troy Franklin just imagine adding Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims into the same exact mix as well the Broncos will have a pick your poison approach that excites me because that's what it could be now ultimately there are a lot of things that have to get done health contingent wise as well for guys to be able to be put in these positions but the vision for it. I think it's very clear and we can see that. Well, I'm really intrigued by these two things marrying together, right? It's those personnel groupings that you just mentioned and guys who can create offense all their own, guys who are really just threats at every level of the field. And also the fact that the game appears to be slowing down for Bo Nix. I mean, that was one of the initial takeaways,
Starting point is 00:26:55 I think, from training camp and seeing him back out there that everybody said, it's just like he's throwing with better anticipation. And Sean Peyton talked about the fact that he's not thinking as much when it comes to all the different looks that defenses are throwing at him. Bo himself has said how much of a help it is to have Bance Joseph's defense to go against every day in practice because there's really nothing in terms of a look that you're going to get on a Sunday that you haven't already seen Monday through Friday, right? So Bo Nicks having the game slowed down for him in combination with guys who can create openings
Starting point is 00:27:27 for themselves and for others is going to be a fun marriage to watch because if the game's already slowing down for Bo and then he has the opportunity to say, well, if the safety comes down and covers Jalen Waddle on this, you know, deep inbreaking route, then I can just throw it over the top to Cortland Sutton and let my guy go make a play. Like Bo said, I could throw it to Cortland with my eyes closed, it feels like. And the same is true for any of these guys, right? Well, if they cover Evan underneath, then I can go right over the top to Troy Franklin, who's really good in those intermediate areas. I mean, it's just those are the types of things that when you talk about,
Starting point is 00:28:04 remember Davis Webb mentioned that Stefan Diggs trade and how it unlocked so much for Josh Allen. I think it was as much the fact that the game was slowing down for Josh as it was the addition of Diggs at the same time and making everybody better around him. So you have that same possibility with the Broncos this year with Waddle in the mix and the growth of players like MIMS and certainly Pat Brine. who was running wide open on multiple plays. I mean, I love it, Cody.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I think we're shaping up for, I mean, I love the preseason anyway, but to get to see these guys even for a limited number of snaps, it's going to be nice. Well, here's another thing, too, that you can make the correlation between Bonix, Josh Allen. You mentioned the game slowing down for Josh Allen. What did he also have in Buffalo going into his third year? Stability from the organization.
Starting point is 00:28:51 The Broncos have had stability from the organization. That's where they're really building right now. It allows them to develop an identity. amongst themselves versus you could have a really talented player, one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and I'm very curious to see how things work with Lamar Jackson in Baltimore with this very instance. But when you have changed, it can impact a lot of things that make your, say, life or your process as a quarterback more difficult.
Starting point is 00:29:17 You could have a coordinator change. You could have a coordinator getting fired. You could have a new quarterback coach. You could have a new head coach. The philosophy change, things like that. Like all these things impacted. the Broncos haven't dealt with that. Everything is the same.
Starting point is 00:29:30 They're bringing back a large portion of the same guys, and they added some exciting new weapons in Jalen Waddle and Jonah Coleman. This Broncos team, knock on wood, please stay healthy. That's the biggest thing that I think would derail this season or this team is if injuries pile up. So knock on wood, putting it out there in the universe, the Broncos stay healthy because this is going to be a very fun team to watch this upcoming season.
