Locked On Broncos - Daily Podcast On The Denver Broncos - Denver Broncos' Red Murdock Brings DAWG MENTALITY to Defense

Episode Date: July 7, 2026

Denver Broncos rookie linebacker Red Murdock has stood out since rookie minicamp as fast, instinctual, and physical. With Vance Joseph trusting him to relay the call to the Broncos defense when he rot...ates in, Murdock is in a position to take over the LB3 spot right behind Justin Strnad and Alex Singleton who are the two starters. What is the vision for Murdock and how will he impact the Broncos linebacker room?   Cody Roark is a credentialed beat reporter for Mile High Sports and covers the Broncos daily in person. Starting point is 00:00:00 The Denver Broncos took Red Murdoch as Mr. Irrelevant in the NFL draft, but based on seeing him early on in OTAs and minicamp, there's nothing irrelevant about him. You are Locked on Broncos, your daily Denver Broncos podcast. Part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day. What's happening in Broncos country? Cody Rourke, Sarah Bettinger, here back for another episode. Locked on Broncos brought to you by our friends over there at Oh, do great organizations win because operations matter.
Starting point is 00:00:34 And that's why you should get O-D-D-O-D-O-D-D-O-D-com slash locked-on. That's O-D-O-O-O-D-com slash lock-on as we talk about Red Murdoch. Red will close out our rookie projection series here. We'll go through and predict his usage where his role might be for the Broncos on defense. It already has two starters solidified for them. Where does he fit into the equation? How does he impact Denver's linebacker room with some of the guys that they have at that position that are a little bit more tenured than maybe Red Murdoch is,
Starting point is 00:01:01 but more importantly we're going to kick things off by talking about. about Red Murdoch, who he is, what we've seen from him with OTAs and Minicamp, and more importantly, how he projects here with this Denver Broncos team. Ser, Red is a very interesting prospect because of the fact, you know, he was taken as Mr. Irrelevant. And a lot of people look at him like, well, he was the last pick in the NFL draft. Well, he wasn't that good if he obviously went last. That's not always the case when you look at NFL talent.
Starting point is 00:01:26 I think that you can look across the entire NFL and see a whole bunch of undrafted guys going to have long, successful NFL careers. it's not about where you go in the draft or whether or not you get drafted. It's about what you do when you get the opportunity to step foot on an NFL field. And Red Murdoch, his draft status was more so inclined to where he went to school at, not the type of player he was. Because the type of player he was, Red's a dog. He is 290 plus tackles at Buffalo, 30 tackles for loss,
Starting point is 00:01:55 13 forced fumbles over the last two years and an NCAA record 17 forced fumbles over the course of his collegiate career. I mean, this guy is an absolute dog, like you said, Cody. He is a heat-seeking missile. He's instinctive. He's got better burst than I think people realize, like closing speed for Red Murdoch, as I was looking at his Rass score,
Starting point is 00:02:17 which it's not the greatest Rast score in the world, Cody, but that doesn't necessarily really matter when it comes to these guys, right? He's in the 75th roughly percentile of athletes at the linebacker position. Red Murdoch is in the 68th percent. among athletes at the linebacker position. So not necessarily the best RAS score that you're going to find.
Starting point is 00:02:36 But get this, his 20-yard split 2.63 seconds, which was in the 93rd percentile of all linebacker prospects over the last 30-plus years. So what does that indicate to us? Well, that indicates that Red Murdoch has got himself some serious short area explosiveness. A 20-yard split like that, his closing speed is outrageous. And that is what allows him to not, only be a tackling machine, but to hit his guy with force to get that ball out. And he says that it's painful.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And somebody asked him, I remember at rookie minicamp, it's painful for you. Or it's painful for the other player, obviously. And he's like, no, no, no. Like for me, it's painful because he's punching that ball out with everything that he's got. Yeah. And look, that's the one thing I'd say is, okay, what can you translate your people? Like, oh, 40 yard dash that we don't care about 40 yard dash times. Like that stuff will always be irrelevant to me in the grand scheme of things.
Starting point is 00:03:31 But how do you do in short area quickness, right? How do you, like a three cone drill is always a great change a direction. These are the things you monitor. Now, a linebacker, your primary responsibility first off, I'm reading the guard. If guards pad level stays low, it's run. If it goes up high, it's passed. Then you have to take a read step. Then you have to read and react.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Like linebackers have one of the toughest jobs to do. Now, if you have the athleticism and the super fast speed, okay, that's great. That might allow you to do certain things quicker. But the thing with Red Murdoch, if you go back and you, you watch him at Buffalo, and certainly if you've watched him during OTAs or minicamp, which I got to see up close and personal. He is smart. He is one of the smartest players on the field so much that when it was rookie minicamp,
Starting point is 00:04:12 and the Broncos are having their defense out there, and this is just when all the rookies, the undrafted guys, the trial players are out there. Red Murdoch is the one that Vance Joseph is giving the green dot call to now when Red is on the field and he's rotating in at linebacker because Denver's got all their guys here in OTAs and minicamp. Well, now all of a sudden, when Red's on the field, He's the one that's echoing the call to the defense.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Sarah, as a rookie, you have to be smart to be able to handle all of that, especially with Vance Joseph's defense, to be able to get the call in, to get the defense aligned. And more importantly for him, the one thing he's shown, he can do that, but he can also play fast. You don't see him just calling the defense. And then all of a sudden, now he's just trying to figure out where the heck he's going. You're seeing him have an impact.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I'm watching him read and feel quickly. Now, when the pads come on, it's going to be fun. I watched him specifically at mandatory mini camp. was one play where he's walked up in the A gap, given that double mug look that we see Justin Stern and Alex Singleton do quite a bit last season. We saw them get to walk up. And then all of a sudden, at the snap, he sees based on the formation, he cheats over. And then once the ball snapped, he reads it and he shoots, he B lines it down to go make a play for a tackle for a loss in a real game situation. He sees things ahead of time. He's a film guy. He is always constantly just
Starting point is 00:05:29 trying to find ways to get better. Red is going to be one of these guys. I think when we go out there at training camp, we're watching, he's going to be too, too much to ignore. You can't ignore what Red Murdoch is going to bring. And that's why I think he's such a fascinating prospect, right? Because obviously he carries that label of Mr. Irrelevant. So inherently, like, everybody in the fan base is now rooting for him.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Because when you are the last pick in the draft, that gets the attention of everybody in the fan base, right? Anybody tuning into the NFL draft, they kind of drift. in and out after the first round and then they're like, okay, who was the last pick of the draft? It's just a fascinating label to carry regardless of what team or player. But now that the Broncos have that guy on their team, he's going to have a cult following. He's the fan base is going to basically be manifesting this guy onto the team into the starting lineup.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And he has that skill set because what do we know about the NFL and team building and roster building? It's at the premium positions in the NFL draft are valued early. We did a squad show earlier this year talking about where can you find starters at certain positions in the NFL draft. The off ball linebacker position was one of those positions that gets shoved to the side anyway. Teams prioritize two things early in the draft, premium positions and athletic traits. At linebacker, it's kind of funny, you don't necessarily need athletic traits to be a successful offball linebacker. I'm not saying you can be a hack out there.
Starting point is 00:06:58 But what I am saying is that these guys who are running a 4 340 yard dash and they're 6, 4, 250 pounds, like a lot of times these guys are flaming out early in the NFL as first second round picks because they lack what Red Murdoch doesn't, which is the instinctual level of play that he brings to the table. Linebacker is one of those rare positions that you can still in the NFL in an almost old school way, win with thumper mentality, instincts, even making up. for a lack of athleticism over a course of a long career. Look at Danny Trevathan. He did that for 10 years in the NFL, ran a 4-8-5 coming out of Kentucky and played 10 years in the NFL. And there's a ton of other examples of that. And Red Murdoch, he's no hack. I mean, like I said, 68th percentile,
Starting point is 00:07:45 that's pretty average or a little above. He's got the everything in front of him, Cody, to really outplay his draft status. Well, and how does it impact Denver's linebacker room that has two solidified starters right now. There should be an open competition between several backers going into training camp. We'll talk about how Murdoch could impact and fit into that equation. Today's show was brought to you by our friends over there at Fanduil, folks. And right now, the biggest stage in world soccer is here. And every match feels like it has the potential to be a memorable moment. And one goal can completely change the energy of a game. It can shift momentum and it can alter the outcome in an instant. And that's what makes tournament soccer so
Starting point is 00:08:22 exciting from the opening whistle to the final kick. And now Fandu, they're giving fans another reason to stay locked in to every match with every goal pays. Bet on a match and get bonus bets for every goal scored in that match. More goals mean more bonus pets. And all you have to do is turn on your token. And you could be gifted with one matchup where all of a sudden it's 2-2 in the final five minutes of the matchup. Then one team scores.
Starting point is 00:08:44 One team scores again. Now you get a benefit from each goal scored with Fandul. From the opening whistle to the final kick, let there be goals on Fandle. Visit Fandleu.com to get started now. The Denver Broncos knew they needed. linebacker help in the 2026 offseason and where did they turn for it? Red Murdoch with the last pick of the 2026 NFL draft. How does he impact the current linebacker room as well as in the future?
Starting point is 00:09:09 We're going to talk about that on today's episode of the show. Broncos country, we appreciate you so much. All you every dayers out there that make lockdown Broncos part of your day. You make the show exactly what it is. We appreciate you so much for rocking with us. Training camp is now on the very near horizon. We're going to be talking about some actual on-field stuff here soon. as opposed to the hypothetical.
Starting point is 00:09:29 But right now, we're staying in the hypothetical, just a little bit and gonna ask the question, how does Red Murdoch impact the current Broncos linebacker room? Alex Singleton back this off season on a three year, or a two year contract, excuse me, in free agency. Justinat back on a three year contract in free agency. Cody, the Broncos like those two guys as their starters right now, but as we've seen, you know, you need your depth at this position.
Starting point is 00:09:55 You need these guys because at some point during the season, somebody's been called upon, whether it was sternat in the past, getting called on as an injury replacement, Singleton getting called on as an injury replacement. And quite frankly, that happens every single year. And so Red Murdoch might be in a position where he's that first guy up behind those two players.
Starting point is 00:10:16 I think right now that's kind of how it feels, just watching them early on. And once again, pads are going to be the greatest indicator here this month when training camp happens in preseason play. But without the pads, certainly he looked apart. Now, here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:10:28 You have Singleton, you have Sternad as your two starters. That's already solidified. Those guys' statuses are unquestioned at that position right now. But could Red and Murdoch start for this team a year, two years down the road? I think absolutely. I've had that conversation with several other reporters there. We've watched practice that there's a feel that very much he could do that. But even if he doesn't start as a rookie, he has an opportunity to play in maybe certain situations, certain packages.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Maybe they like something that Red does really well and they wanted to play that in a game. You know, we've seen them at times as well. Maybe they add another linebacker into the mix, depending on what type of running back in front that they face. They need just someone who could be a line buster. He could be that guy. But more importantly, I think he will play special teams right away. And more importantly, that's where he's going to have to make a little bit of an impact early on
Starting point is 00:11:18 compared to where it is defensively because there's going to be competition there. You've got Lavelle Bailey, who is a ten-year player, two years in Denver system. he's returning to the mix. Corrine Reed was the undrafted guy who made the 53-man roster last year at the linebacker position. And no disrespect to Corne A. Reed, Red Murdoch is a far more polished linebacker prospect than I think Reed was. And once again, that's not to poo-poo on Corrine A. Reid. It's just saying like Red Murdoch is different. Some of these guys in this class are a little bit different.
Starting point is 00:11:50 And then you've got obviously Jordan Turner, who was a guy who surprised during a rookie mini camp last year, got a pro tryout, was able to get on the roster, practice squad, and he stood out in the preseason. And he could be in line to be on the roster. I mean, Sarah, I view this linebacker room right now. You have two starters solidified. I think they will carry five, which means three spots out of what, five different guys right now are completely up for grabs.
Starting point is 00:12:17 And I think obviously one of those will go to Red Murdoch, barring the unexpected, right? He's, I mean, even though he was the last pick of the draft, he is the only linebacker that the Broncos drafted. And I think that that was something that going into the draft, we all felt like, man, they could use their top pick, even when they still had a first rounder. We felt like that was a reasonable expectation,
Starting point is 00:12:39 like C.J. Allen out of Georgia or Anthony Hill out of Texas, who the Titans came in and sniped him up, right, two picks before the Broncos had their pick on the clock in the second round. So we all felt like this could be a priority position. So you almost kind of put that, on Red Murdoch in a little bit, right? Or at least a manner of speaking. Like, even though he's not a first or second round pick,
Starting point is 00:13:02 he's the only linebacker the Broncos drafted. And therefore, because they invested at least a pick in him, you feel like, okay, well, they didn't draft anybody else. They didn't sign anybody else at linebacker. So he's got to ultimately make the roster and have a future vision. I view Red Murdoch. And I wrote an article about this on predominantly orange a couple of days ago, Cody, that would be fun for people to check out.
Starting point is 00:13:25 because there's some numbers in there that are really interesting. But his situation is oddly and almost eerily similar to Danny Trevathen. I mentioned in the first segment. Travathen was the Broncos last pick of the 2020-12 draft, albeit he was a sixth rounder and not a seventh rounder, not Mr. Relevant, but he was the last pick of the draft, fell because he's undersized, not quite athletic enough to be a day two pick or whatever, but the production was insane. He had 280 plus tackles at Kentucky compared to Red Murdoch, 290 plus.
Starting point is 00:13:54 he had 27 or 28 tackles for loss at Kentucky compared to 30 for Red Murdoch. I mean, he forced nine fumbles his last two years in college. Red Murdoch 13. So those two guys are very similar in that they have veterans ahead of them on the depth chart right now. But if they prove themselves like Danny Trevathen did on special teams as a rookie, Red Murdoch can do the same thing, prove trustworthy to this coaching staff on special teams. And I think he's going to be penciled in as a starter after this season. The only hope is that if he gets in,
Starting point is 00:14:24 interception or recovers a fumble and is going to the end zone, just don't drop the ball one yard shy like Danny Trevathan did. I remember that. It was a crazy times. But Danny Trevathan, I mean, I'm glad you brought him up. I mean, even look at Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall, like those two guys, they weren't drafted with the highest status. But what did they do? Like, you can make an argument in the modern era, right? Not not talking about Al Wilson or Ian Gold or Al Wilson, DJ Williams. But like in the more recent era, like the Broncos haven't had a good linebacker duo like a solidified just absolute studs since Trevathan and since Brandon Marshall together collectively. And granted, that team did win a Super Bowl. So, I mean,
Starting point is 00:15:02 there is going to be a little bit more stature there. This is a room that you and I have said the Broncos needed to upgrade. And look, they had opportunities, as you mentioned in this year's draft. They could have moved up maybe for a guy. I know we had Jacob Rodriguez in our mock drafts quite a bit. But the Broncos just really kind of let the board fall to them. And what have we seen from them that I think warrants Broncos country to have trust in the scouting department, to have trust in the front office. Look at the track record of success for later round picks, undrafted guys compared to earlier round picks. Like it is, it's astonishing that Denver has had such success here, but they also have a system now where I think where things really benefit this approach,
Starting point is 00:15:42 it's because you have the same coaching staff. You have the same front office structure. You have a lot of continuity intact. Then now you can bring in a guy like Red Murdoch. He doesn't have have to start for you as a rookie, maybe even in his second season. But I think year three for Red Murdoch, he makes the roster, which I think he will. Don't think it's going to be a question. Red Murdoch, I think year three, the vision for him is that he's going to be the starter, a linebacker. Yeah, I do too. I really believe that. And I think that he's just got that kind of written in the stars sort of feeling, right? It's, it's nothing more than at this point, just a gut feeling and an expectation that he's going to vastly outplay his draft status. Like for the pessimist or for the
Starting point is 00:16:19 Cynic. Red Murdoch is the last pick of this year's draft. He might even be lucky to make the team. But for fans of the Broncos and for people covering this team and who saw him, like you said, out at training camp, getting the green dot calls from Vince Joseph. And you look at his pre-draft projection and where people thought he would go in the fourth or fifth round at the latest. I mean, this guy has everything sort of written in the stars for him already. He just has to go out there and continue to do what he does best, which is, I mean, knock people out. You know, not literally, but you know what I'm saying? That's the type of player that he is at the linebacker position.
Starting point is 00:16:54 You don't want to be the receiver coming across the middle of the field. And Red Murdoch is out there lurking around and waiting for the, just waiting. Ask Michael Bandy. Yeah, ask Michael Bandy. What was my nickname for Michael Bandy? Now it's going to. Your practice squad receiver's favorite practice squad. Yeah, yeah, your favorite receiver's favorite practice squad receiver, Michael Bandy,
Starting point is 00:17:18 get knocked out at OTAs by Red Murdoch. But, you know, I'm really pumped for this guy. I think that it's going to be easy. We've got to pump the brakes a little bit because, yes, seventh round pick, day three guy, Mr. Irrelevant pick. It's important to temper the expectation so as not to be so disappointed when he shows, like, oh, he's a rookie out there. He's making the stakes out there.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Afford him the opportunities to grow. But I think expect the best for his long-term projection. As we've said, your three vision for his. him to be the starting linebacker. I think that's our, that's a projection. That's a goal that I feel like is rooted. Like if we were to say, you know, Sarah, he's going to be the starter as a rookie right now. Like, hey, pumped up breaks. Like that's, that's a little too much. Chill out there. I know fans are excited. I know a lot of fans want that to happen. But I think let Red develop here. Hey, best case scenario, let's say something like midway through year two. He ends up becoming
Starting point is 00:18:11 a starter, right? Let's say there's that year three, I think it's a safe bet to say, hey, like, all right, if Red is starting and his third year in the NFL, that means that the vision is exactly where it was, where it needs to be right now for this team. And I'm excited about Red going forward. So let's operate under the assumptions, Sarah. Let's play a little game as we've done with every single rookie.
Starting point is 00:18:31 If Red Murdoch makes the active roster, what will his usage and his production be in 26? We'll break it down here on today's episode of the show. Today's show is brought to you by our friends over there at O'Doo. running a business, it shouldn't feel like you're trying to connect a bunch of systems that were never designed to work together. If you got one app for accounting, another for inventory and another for sales, well, somehow none of them talk to each other. Well, this is where things can fall through the cracks in your business. But that is where Odo comes in handy because it brings all of it together.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Odo is an all-in-one business management software that brings every part of your business together in one powerful platform, from sales and accounting to inventory and marketing and everything works in one place, helping your team move faster, stay organized, and focus on growing the business instead of managing software and the best organizations know the success. It isn't just about talent. It's about having everyone that's working toward the same goal. And that's true in sports, just like it is in business. For example, the Broncos adding Red Murdoch to the linebacker room, it's going to boost workplace
Starting point is 00:19:32 creativity for Vince Joseph as he looks at what his linebackers can do. You got Alex Singleton, Justin, Sternat, his starters. But what can Red Murdoch do if you want to unleash him on an eight-gap blitz? Vance Joseph might play with that this upcoming season. Great organizations win because operations matter, and that's why you should get O-D-O-D-O-D-O-D-O-com slash Locked on. That's O-D-O-O-O-D-com slash locked-on. If Red Murdoch plays as a rookie, more than likely it'll be on the special team side of the ball, maybe being deployed here and there defensively.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And if he makes the roster, what does his usage and production look like? Sarah and I have been breaking down every single Broncos rookie draft pick in this episode series. So if you've missed any, make sure you go back and check it out. But we want to say thank you to everyone in Broncos country once again for making us your first listen here on the Lockdown Podcast Network, the number one sports podcast network in the country. It's also where you know you get your team every day. Sarah, let's go through this.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Let's talk about Red Murdoch. He makes the 53-man roster. Is he the number three linebacker, in your opinion, behind Singleton Sturrad? Is he number four? Is there someone ahead of him? Let's start there. And then we'll get into usage where he can have an impact as a rookie. I think he is going to be the number three linebacker, Cody,
Starting point is 00:20:44 because I think we can all see Jordan Turner making this team, as you've mentioned on multiple shows. Like he's going to be a special teams contributor in a significant way this coming season, the Broncos special teams, you know, they need that because Justin Sernad is going to be stepping into a starting role. So you have to have that sort of once again, next man up. But Red Murdoch, to me, is the first man up as linebacker. When in the event, Singleton or Sir Nad goes down, I would say Red Murdoch is their best option right now.
Starting point is 00:21:16 And that can be scary, once again, to the cynics and pessimist, or it could be exciting to the people who feel like Red Murdoch's going to be a starter someday eventually anyway. So could we have a Wally Pip situation in that type of event? You don't want to wish injury for anybody. But I think if that is the way that he gets onto the field, I don't know that he's given the job up. That's where I would say. I mean, like Red Murdoch, to me, feels like that type of guy that if he gets an opportunity to start extensively this coming season for injury reasons, I don't think he's giving the job back. And I think that we can expect to see realistically, assuming everybody's healthy, I think we can realistically expect to see him play roughly 275 or more special team snaps. And I think that Broncos are going to say, hey, go out there on kickoff coverage, on punt coverage, and knock that ball out.
Starting point is 00:22:05 or if a returner doesn't call a fair catch, they don't want to see Red Murdoch number 50 coming ever again. They're going to see it in their nightmares. That's the type of guy we want you to be. I wouldn't be surprised if Red Murdoch has a little extra budget from the Broncos front office to say, hey, you're probably going to get fined a bunch this season, man,
Starting point is 00:22:23 but we don't want you to change who you are. So he's probably going to get fined. I think so, Cody, don't you? Like, I'm not saying he's a good player, but I think he's that physical that the NFL is going to be like, hey, like here's a slap on the wrist. Red Murdoch was fine, blah, blah, blah, for his hit on blah, blah, blah, after week three.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Red Murdoch was fine for, you know, you could see those headlines already being written. Yeah, one, here's the thing. And glad you mentioned it. He's not a dirty player who never plays like that, but what we have seen in the NFL, we see it in the regular season on Saturdays when Tom Pelliserro tweets out,
Starting point is 00:22:54 this player was fine this much. And we're seeing guys get fined for just hitting guys too hard. We're not talking about making contact with the helmet. Like, those are realistic fines, 100%. But we are seeing running backs getting fined 40K plus for lowering their shoulder and having incidental helmet contact. They're like, guys are hitting too hard for the NFL's liking. You know, you can't have these hard hits anymore. Man, it's a different era, Sarah. And the thing about Red Murdoch when I watch him play, it's like red kind of preserves a little
Starting point is 00:23:26 bit of that old school linebacker mentality, whereas everything else in this modern era is just so different. You can't hit guys too hard because it's a. flag. Well, if you hit a guy really hard and you wrap up with shoulder and you declet him, man, you must have done something illegal because there's no way you can hit that hard. There's a 15-yard penalty. Like I absolutely, I hate what the game has become today. I really have from a physical standpoint, defense used to be physical, used to be violent in a good way, right? And through the confines of the game, in between the whistle, you could hit people hard. Not saying go out there and hit people hard in the helmet. That's never what we want. I've had so many
Starting point is 00:24:03 concussions in my playing career. I'm a huge concussion advocate. I think that player safety is absolutely paramount. But you're asking players to take the physicality out of the game by, I got to pull up because if I hit this guy too hard, I'm going to get fine. I'm going to lose
Starting point is 00:24:19 $40k dollars, even if I'm making a proper legal tackle. Frustrates the hell out of me. I'm with you on red in terms of 250 plus special team snaps this upcoming season. I like that role. I think he and Jordan Turner on special teams. might be a very, very fun duo to watch.
Starting point is 00:24:35 I'll just point that out there. Tori in New York potentially is another name. With that said, with those 250 plus snaps, I can see seven or eight tackles for Red. Seven or eight tackles, that might be a realistic projection if he's just a special teams guy and doesn't necessarily get a lot of snaps defensively
Starting point is 00:24:51 on the field this season. Are you thinking at least one force fumble? I mean, we've got to see, you've got to have one. Like, that's the greatest hits. You've got to play the greatest hits. I feel like Red, I like the first. projection of seven or eight tackles too. I think I could see that. I feel like this guy, he's got to bring back like the neck roll. You know what I'm talking about? Like the linebacker
Starting point is 00:25:12 neck roll from the 90s or like the thing that used to stick up out of the shoulder pads, like the oversized shoulder pads, the eye black that, you know, you streak down the face. I want Red Murdoch to be the scariest MF around the team. You know what I'm saying? Like that's what I want to see. I want him to be the guy that when he steps onto the field, the, the punt returner or the kickoff returner is looking like, where's that dude again? I'm going to run the opposite. I don't want to get hit by him. I don't want to get hit by him because he's that jerk that's going to hit me way too hard.
Starting point is 00:25:42 That's the type of guy that I want Red Murdoch to be, the neck roll, the oversized shoulder pads, the scary looking eye black, you know, give him a little visor or something, make him look as intimidating as possible. Dress him up like a 90s linebacker and let this guy just embody the beast from within. right that's where red murdock can be an asset to this team you want more takeaways start on special teams right first kickoff of the season i want red murdock forcing a freaking fumble you heard it here first bold predictions for week one monday night football against the chiefs whoever's returning a kickoff for kansas city you better watch out because number 50 it's going to come pop that ball out it goes back to one of my favorite football movies the program
Starting point is 00:26:26 alvin mac an absolute stud defense guy his coach goes okay all right this is mississippi state's offensive second and 210024, what defensive set might we call? Alvin Matt goes, Eagle zipper hero, unless the setback shifts to the eye. He says, good. Third and seven, Oki Thunder line. What's your assignment? Kill the quarterback. And then he goes, it clicks on the next side.
Starting point is 00:26:46 What's your assignment here? Hit the tight end so hard. His girlfriend dies. Next slide. Hit, kill everybody. That's what he says. It's like one of the greatest football movies ever, man. Just kind of encompasses just the, you know, the program mentality there.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Red Murdoch could be Alvin Mack, man. I would be so excited about that. But with that, said, Broncos Country, share with us your thoughts on what you would like to see from Red Murdoch as a rookie. What you're hoping to see from him in training camp and so much more.
