Episode Date: February 11, 2026

While he's on a rookie deal, the Denver Broncos must land Bo Nix elite weapons during this offseason. Cody Roark shares his ideal Broncos offseason that includes trading for a WR like A.J. Brown, Geor...ge Pickens, or Jaylen Waddle, adding a game changing running back like Breece Hall to the mix who instantly upgrades the Broncos offense, and why a veteran tight end like David Njoku could upgrade the tight end position alongside Evan Engram, especially if Davis Webb is calling plays. Cody Roark is a credentialed beat reporter for Mile High Sports and covers the Broncos daily in person. Sayre Bedinger is the site expert for Predominantly Orange. Starting point is 00:00:00 My ideal offseason for the Denver Broncos involves them weaponizing. Bo Nix as he enters his third year in the National Football League. You are Locked on Broncos, your daily Denver Broncos podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. What's happened to Broncos country? Welcome to another episode of Locked on Broncos, your daily Denver Broncos podcast for the Lockdown Podcast Network, the number one sports podcast network in the country.
Starting point is 00:00:31 And that's all thanks to all you everydayers out there in Broncos Country. much for tuning in and making us your first listen every single day, however you choose to do so, we appreciate you so much. Yesterday's show, you guys heard Sarah Bedinger's dream offseason here for the Broncos. Well, I'm going to share on today's episode my ideal offseason for them, which means going out there and acquiring weapons for Bow Nix. We'll look at every avenue there. Plus, this is the year where I say, forget them draft picks, and I'll share my thoughts as
Starting point is 00:00:58 to why. And on top of that, we'll talk about why players like Breeze Hall or David Nizoku are upgrades for what the Broncos could be looking for for that offense to take the next step. You're going to get all that here on today's episode of the show. I'm Cody Rourke, Credential Broncos reporter for Mile High Sports. You can check out my written work over there at Mile Highsports.com. But Broncos Country, I thought Sarah's episode yesterday was awesome. He and I have some similar tie-ins.
Starting point is 00:01:23 But that's why I wanted to do a separate episode, right? He has his ideal dream off season. I have mine here. And I think that there are some things where we agree, maybe some things where we disagree. But this episode for me, my dream off season here for Denver is going to involve the Broncos giving Bo Knicks weapons across the board. Well, that's a wide receiver, tight end, running back. We're going to hit all that. But let's talk about wide receiver here first.
Starting point is 00:01:46 I like Denver's room. Don't get me wrong. Cortland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant. I love the room and what obviously these guys bring to the table here. But I think everybody in Broncos country, I feel I can agree for the most part. does never have a game changer there that they can add into the mix or that they have right now. I think Marvin Mims certainly is that guy. I thought our good friend Andrew Mason did a great job putting a tweet out this week.
Starting point is 00:02:12 And hey, the Broncos, I mean, when it comes to playmakers, they have some guys who have the toolboxes to do it. It's just about how they're used. I believe Marvin Mims probably could be the biggest weapon here for the Broncos offense, but it all goes back to that utilization factor here. So here's my pitch and why I think that you can't just hope. that the offense is going to continue their upward trend of developing players when we've seen just inconsistencies in how player personnel is certainly used,
Starting point is 00:02:39 the percentage of snaps played for certain positions. That's why I think the best way to simplify and give Bo Nix as he enters the third year of his rookie, I mean, his rookie contract essentially, where after this year the Broncos that they wanted to could extend him, go out there and get this man some help, get him some weapons. I think everybody watched the AFC championship and just saw the flow and how things went and I think we all thought like, man, Bo Nix made up for some of the deficiencies, maybe that the Broncos offense, certainly on the offensive line had, but what if he had a
Starting point is 00:03:09 consistent weapon? Here's the thing, folks. You could look up all the data if you have access to true media, but go back and watch the tape of Cortland Sutton, who was Bo Nix, you know, and obviously 2024 was Bo Nix's favorite target on third down. You know what defenses did on a consistent basis with Cortland? I think the AFC championship game is a great example of that. Cortland, once again, all season long, saw nothing but bracket coverage from corners, safeties, and sometimes and keep passing situations on third down, he would see attention from a linebacker spying inside there. And so, of course, you know, if that's your easy button on offense, he's going to get extra
Starting point is 00:03:45 attention. That's why we saw Troy Franklin and other guys really kind of emerge on third down for Bo Nix or Bo used his legs in certain situations. Marvin Mim's usage wasn't nearly where it needs to be. So this is the offseason where I'm kind of saying, forget them picks and go out there, I don't care if Denver trades their first round pick, which is the 30th overall pick this year. I do not care if they trade that pick to acquire a wider seeer, right? And who could that entail? I've got my list of players. I'm on board of A.J. Brown, J.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Waddle, and certainly I know our audience here at lockdown Broncos has some strong thoughts on AJ Brown and, you know, the type of leadership that maybe he has or the character concerns that people say, but I can tell you this, being aside the Broncos locker room, I think they have enough veteran voices in that locker room in comparison to a team like Philadelphia, where that stuff, I don't think is going to be as big of an issue here in Denver as what we've seen from AJ Brown in Philadelphia. That is just my personal opinion based on what I see being in the Broncos locker room daily during the regular season.
Starting point is 00:04:45 But then again, I mean, a change of scenery could do AJ Brown good. But here's why I'm pounding the table for a receiver like AJ Brown or Jaylen Waddle or even George Pickens, which if the Broncos wanted George Pickens, it now seems to at this point, he would have to be traded for because the Cowboys plan on placing the franchise tag on him. Certainly in Dallas, they want to keep him there. But if George Pickens doesn't want to play on the franchise tag, if the Cowboys are playing hardball and aren't going to come to terms on a contract extension, that's where maybe the Cowboys are saying, hey, we can try to get more draft picks here. Jerry Jones has shown he's not afraid to trade away a key player. And if you have a player like George Pickens who simply isn't going to play in Dallas, okay, you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:24 I'd welcome him here in Denver. I do think that Sean Payton, I think the type of coach that he is, he'll be hard on those types of guys. But I also think those guys ultimately buy into that. And when you have a good culture inside that locker room, I'm not saying that Philly's culture in the locker room isn't great. But it's clear that there's frustration behind the scenes there. And not all players get along, whereas that's different here in Denver. So for me, I'm on board of trading the 30th overall pick. You might have to trade a second rounder or maybe even a player here.
Starting point is 00:05:55 But I think you pair, you add a George Pickens, a J. Lin-Waddle or an A.J. Brown opposite of Cortland Sutton, because here's the deal. Defenses with how they play in today's game. We know the two high shell. We know that there's a lot of rolling down, middle of the field open, middle of the field closed looks where pre-snap, everything's like, wait, what coverage are they in? And then at the snap, you see one safety rolling down. It could be cover one, could be cover three.
Starting point is 00:06:17 They could just go cover zero. They could have delayed blitz where they have nobody covering deep in the middle of the field here. I mean, Denver has seen everything this season, but they've seen a lot of cover two and a lot of cover six where the corners are playing underneath and kind of that trail technique sinking underneath, making sure nothing's coming across to the flats while your safeties are playing those quarters coverage over the top. And if you obviously want some breakdowns on that, that's why I encourage you to join the Everyday All Access Club. We've got film breakdowns where we actually highlight and teach the game the X's and O's here. But it's hard to do that over a podcast. But my point is, is okay, now let's say you get A.J. Brown Waddle or George P. pickings and you move them around. Like the thing with the Broncos offense and Sean Peyton is
Starting point is 00:06:56 everybody has different roles. Like Cortland's not just going to be an X. He's also going to play the slot. He's going to play the Z position from time to time. They're going to move these guys around. They have to know everything here in Peyton's offense. And when you hypothetically place Cortland on one side and you put any of those three guys that I mentioned on the other side, okay, you may still get a too high shell. You very well may get bracket coverage from the corners against those guys on the outside with the safeties over the top. But then that's where you have your younger guys that are developing like the Troy Franklin's, the Marvin Mims, the Pat Bryant's, those guys who can work in space in the middle of the field, that's where
Starting point is 00:07:31 you get them involved. That's where you get guys like Evan Ingram and the running backs and the passing game evolved a little bit more than what we saw here in 2025. And I'm telling you, from a schematical standpoint, it makes it difficult. And there are some really good defenses that might be able to counteract that. But as we have seen, having multiple playmakers is big. And that takes so much pressure off of Bo Nix. And obviously, I think if things work, the way I envision it with this, is now you're going to get Cortland Sutton, who from time to time, is probably going to get more one-on-one opportunities that he didn't get this past season.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Or for any of those three receivers that I name, maybe those guys get some one-on-one opportunities. But you need a trusted go-to guy outside of just Cortland, right? We talk about the player personnel and all the substitutions that Sean Payton makes coming out of 12 personnel, which is one running back, two tight ends, 13 personnel, one running back, three tight ends. They vary and they differ in terms of what they want to do. Sean Payton has said he wants to be able to run the football out of shotgun. He wants to go to the multiple personnel formations.
Starting point is 00:08:29 But when you amplify your personnel at wide receiver, you can mix and match and move guys around. And that's what I think the Broncos need in terms of weapon. And sure, maybe there are some guys in this year's NFL draft. The rumbling so far seem to indicate that this is a deep wide receiver class. Okay, that's awesome. but now you're banking on yet a rookie. Once again, what have we seen?
Starting point is 00:08:50 Don Peyton, you know, the rookies have to earn a lot of that trust to be able to see time on the field. Pat Bryant, R.J. Harvey, these guys did a fantastic job of being able to do that. But are you sure you want to sit there and wait for maybe a young guy to kind of find his stride in the NFL or do you want to go get a proven playmaker that has produced guys like AJ Brown, guys like Pickens, guys like Waddle, these guys have produced. And they've done it well. They've been featured guys.
Starting point is 00:09:14 now that opens everything up for what you want to do and it forces defenses to not play you just one-dimensional where I think an AFC championship game, they were daring the Broncos to throw the football. And look, Jarrett Stidham had a couple of plays. Obviously, that deep throw to Marvin Mims, the touchdown throw to Cortland Sutton. Obviously, those guys connected on that.
Starting point is 00:09:31 But aside from that, the idea was, hey, we want them to throw the football. They sold out to stop the run, New England did. And what happened? I mean, it really kind of limited things. And then we talk about all the drops that the Broncos receiving you and had this season. And you need guys that can go out there and obviously alleviate that. And of course, AJ Brown's had some drops.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Pickens has had some drops. But more than not, they're sure-handed guys. So for me, forget them picks. Go out there, trade a first-round pick, in my opinion. Go out there and get a playmaker, an alpha dog at wide receiver, another number one type guy or a guy who could be a number one where Courtney could slide to a number two spot. And I guarantee you this Broncos offense will thrive. That is the first item on my top three wish list for this off season.
Starting point is 00:10:10 But coming on next Broncos country, I'm going to tell you why, Brees Hall may be exactly what Sean Payton, Bo Nicks, and the run game needs. Starting point is 00:11:35 Do it the right way with Indeed. Breeze Hall could be the dynamic game changer that the Broncos offense desperately needs to take the next step as they need to win a Super Bowl and obviously surpass their AFC championship expectations after getting just a few place shy of Super Bowl 60. I'll tell you all about here on today's show. I just want to remind you here real quick, Broncos Country, about the everydayer club.
Starting point is 00:11:58 There's two different tiers. There's the member version, which is $5 a month, which gets you exclusive access to a Discord server with other members of Broncos countries. We build a community. Plus, you get an ad-free version of this podcast. But let me tell you about the All-access Club, which is $15 a month.

You get one-on one texting with Sarah and myself. You get bonus content that doesn't pop up here on your normal locked on Broncos feed. And you get exclusive things like all 22 film breakdowns with free agency coming up. We're going to be taking a look at some of the free agent prospects, including the guy I'm talking about right now. Breeze Hall, we're going to go through all 22 film reviews of him. And he'll bring to the table for the Broncos offense inside of the everyday or all access.
Starting point is 00:12:43 Club. It's in the show notes down below or lockdown broncos. dot supercast.com. Breeze Hall has me excited, folks. And first, I want to preface this by saying when it comes to the running back position, my top target would have been Kenneth Walker, right? I've said that in previous shows here. But after his performance in Super Bowl 60, the Seattle Seahawks would be silly to let him go. Now, obviously, he's going to command some money for that.
Starting point is 00:13:08 But he was a dynamic game changer there that I imagine the Broncos would have had a player like Kenneth Walker or a player like Bruce Hall in the playoffs, that might have made a difference in Denver losing the AFC championship or making it to Super Bowl 60. And now I think that has to be a focal point going forward is a strong run game. And that's why I'm now pricing myself out of the Kenneth Walker sweepstakes. I'm not factoring him in as a guy that the Broncos are going to land. I think they'll have interest in him.
Starting point is 00:13:34 But ultimately, I think he returns of the Seattle Seahawks and Denver will have to face him this upcoming season at Empire Field of my high. But let me tell you about Breece Hall here as he set to hit unrestricted free agency. He was a guy last year that as the New York Jets were going through their dumpster fire, making changes, trading guys away, just undergoing this new rebuild under Darren Muggey and obviously Aaron Glenn. Breece Hall is a guy who's clearly indicated he wants out in New York. Well, now he'll get a chance to test the Free Agency Waters and he wants to go play on a big stage. He put a tweet out during the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Man, I hope to be able to play in a stage like this one day. and I'm telling you why Denver is the best place for him. Breece Hall would be an instant upgrade at running back from an overall standpoint as a runner, as a pass catcher than anything that the Broncos have. And certainly it may force them to, I'd say change or adjust their scheme a little bit. We know Sean Payton has talked about that, but I want to go through some of the numbers here about Breece Hall, according to our friends over there at True Media.
Starting point is 00:14:29 And this is really what sold me in combination of watching film on him. He is consistent across the board. Now, the New York Jets, we've seen how bad their offense has been, over the course of the last four years. Breece has been the lone bright spot there alongside players like Garrow Wilson, right? And I think the one thing that stands out about the consistency factor is the run game, despite the fact that the Jets offense has been so lackluster, so to speak.
Starting point is 00:14:54 You know, yes, they have a really good receiver, but Breese Hall, he'd see stacked boxes all the time. Despite that, over the course of his career and overcoming a major ACL injury that he ironically suffered as a rookie against the Denver Broncos, he's averaged 4.5 yards per carry throughout the course of his career. He just hit over 1,000 yards this past season with the New York Jets. And we all saw how bad that offense was there. But he has the explosiveness that is necessary for this Broncos offense to help Bo Nix,
Starting point is 00:15:22 to not have to lead the NFL in passing attempts. Like that's one thing that stood out to me is Denver's discrepancy between the pass and the run game. But I also want to highlight this because this is a reality too. The Broncos, and this is a Sean Payton problem, Sean Payton at times did not like to embrace the run game as much. There were times where the run game's working. He goes away from it.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Certainly we've had, I'd probably say over 20 plus episodes this season of the show where maybe we've talked about that exclusively. And the run game needing to be the biggest factor to help the Broncos get to the Super Bowl. We've highlighted that. They fell short by a few plays and you just can't help but wonder if the run game was there. How does Denver fare? Do they match up? Well, with the Seahawks and the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:16:03 I think it's a possibility here. But Denver's offense needs to take a leap forward. And by doing that, you take all the pressure off of Bo Nix, who's coming off of ankle surgery. He's going to be fully ready to go for the regular season. But why put all this pressure on Bo to have to do everything for the offense? He really was to do it all man. Well, guess what?
Starting point is 00:16:19 Spread some of that workload over there to a guy like Breece Hall. And if Davis Webb truly has play calling authority, which that is the growing vibe here, I guarantee you you will probably see better run-pass balance with this offense. You'll see guys like Evan Ingram included a lot more. We'll get into that later here. But according to our friends over there at True Media for Breece Hall this past season, he had 57 rushing first downs, which was ninth in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:16:44 That was two spots ahead of Devon A-chan. And obviously, Jemir Gibbs, we know how good of, you know, rushers, those guys certainly are. So for him to be able to pick up first downs in that regard is nice. But here's also some context to that as well. 82.4%. He had a third down conversion rate of converting for a first down on rushing attempts on third down, right? So once again, 82.4 third down rush conversion percentage. That was first in the NFL amongst all running backs.
Starting point is 00:17:11 So that is effective. But here are the little detailed numbers that give you just an idea as to what he can bring to the table here in Denver. On first down, he had 22 rushing first downs this season, folks. Yes, on first down, right? So first in 10, first and five, those situations, 22 first downs on those downs. Whereas this past season, how many times do we see the Broncos try to run the ball on first down? they get maybe one or two yards or they go backwards. Brees Hall is a guy who's hitting the hole and he's getting explosive.
Starting point is 00:17:39 He's getting to the outside and he's getting past defenders. He stylistically compares a lot to Kenneth Walker. And the more that I started doing digging into the film and watching the numbers because I knew Kenneth Walker certainly probably isn't going to be a realistic scenario here. Breece Hall, all the green flags are going bing, ming, ming, ming, in my head. I'm saying, you know what, I'm all in on Breece Hall. So there's the first down numbers. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:18:01 Here's the second down numbers, folks. 20 rushing first downs on second down, and that ranges between obviously second and long, second is short. You get the gist here. Third down, 14 rushing first downs on third down, which obviously led the NFL amongst all backs
Starting point is 00:18:16 in terms of that conversion percentage right there of 82.4%. But let's talk about passing, past catching out of the backfield here. A lot of Broncos country, you tweeted at me after I talked about Kenneth Walker, and they were saying, well, this guy can't drop. He's not consistent there. okay, I understand why you see that.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Well, here's the thing with a guy like Brees Hall. 48 targets last season. He had 36 catches. How many drops did he have? He only had one drop. So it goes to show you on those other passing attempts, quarterback season, threw it too high or they threw it in the dirt. But he is a guy who focuses, he looks to football in.
Starting point is 00:18:49 And I just imagine pairing he and R.J. Harvey together where the Broncos, I mean, Sean Peyton, he said himself, he wants to do some more two-back stuff. Could you imagine Bo Nix, R.J. Harvey, and Bruce Hall on the field together at the same time, especially with some of the pistol stuff that Sean is running or just a two-back gun. I am excited about the idea of that. And envisioning Breece Hall in that role has me feeling very nicely here about maybe the prospects of that happening here for the Broncos. I think it would help them take a huge leap forward here. And that's why I think Breece is a game changer here in NFL free agency. And look, I know there's some other names. I know Sarah throughout Tyler
Starting point is 00:19:25 Alger. But man, the more I kind of sit and think about it, I'm all in on Breece Hall. That is the number one target that I want here for the Broncos out of anybody this off season. I know we talked about trading for a receiver, but if I had a number one wish list, the Broncos must do, it is to entice Brees Hall to come to the Mile High City. Broncos Country, make sure you share your thoughts with me on Brees Hall. Do you agree with me? Do you disagree with me? Is there a back that you feel like would be better than Brees Hall? Please let me know here on today's episode of the show here.
Starting point is 00:19:55 But let's talk about the tight-in position. Broncos Country coming up next. We're going to highlight why David Nizoku may not be the need. mover for the Broncos at tight-in, but he might be exactly what they need in certain situations. I'll explain that here on today's episode of the show. Broncos Country, today's episode, Lockdown Broncos is brought to you by friends over there at Fandu, and the winter games are officially here. And if you're anything like us, you're locking in for the events you only get to see on the
Starting point is 00:20:18 biggest stage every four years. And that's why following the winter games on Fandu just makes sense from metal counts to individual events to finding your angle on the sports that you care the most about Fandu. They give you more ways to stay connected and to get in on the action because there's the drama of curling matches that may start slow but somehow get intense fast. Speed skating races decided by inches. Hockey games that feel different right from the opening faceoff and Fandu keeps the entire Olympic experience engaging from start to finish. The winter games are on and there's no better way to follow them than with Fandul. Fandu play your game.
Starting point is 00:20:55 David Nizoku could be the one piece that could help the Broncos offense see more production at the tied end position. And if Davis Webb is called plays, things could open up for this position going into the 2026 NFL season. Once again, Broncos Country, thank you so much for rocking with us, tuning in, making us your first listen, however you choose to do so. As we say, hey, even though the offseason is here for the true fan, there is never an off season. We got you covered with daily episodes, exclusive short form content on our TikTok, YouTube shorts, you name it. Lockdown Broncos, we're here for you every step of the way. And we're going to have you covered all season long. Plus, bonus episodes, multiple episodes coming your way.
Starting point is 00:21:30 as well, especially with NFL free agency frenzy approaching us here in the next four weeks. We're excited about that. We're going to be locked in here. But let's also talk about the tight end position. This episode is all about the Broncos weaponizing Bo Nix here in 2026, the third year of his deal, essentially as a rookie where you have a chance to push the chips in. The Broncos have expressed they're going to be aggressive here. I think they need to make a push here for David Nizoku, right?
Starting point is 00:21:54 And first off, I want you to understand from my perspective, this isn't going out and saying, hey, David Nizoku is going to come in and he's going to have 75 catches for over 1,000 yards. I don't think that's a realistic envisionment for a player like in Joku. Now, I will say maybe he's capable of that. You know, he's an older guy, but he still plays young. He's got good size to him. Obviously, he's expressed that he's going to be leaving the Cleveland Browns in search of a new home this offseason, especially with, you know, the Brown's
Starting point is 00:22:22 finding and getting the emergence of Harold Fanon Jr., obviously for them in the mix last season. But that Brown's offense, they have no quarterback there. rough. And now at this stage of his career, he wants to go have a chance to win games. I think Denver's a great chance for that. But I don't know if he would be the number one tied in here for the Broncos. I think where Denver could benefit from him, especially if Sean Payton wants to run more 12 and 13 personnel, where if you look at the Super Bowl, Sam Darnold and Seattle Seahawks, those guys use a lot of 12 and 13 personnel. And it opened a lot of different things up from them in the run game, the past game, obviously setting up some play
Starting point is 00:22:53 action. But I think a difference is just having a big target that can maybe move the chains for you. I express that they don't need him to catch 75 passes or go over 1,000 yards. But, man, if you could get a bigger target like David Nizoku involved in the red zone, where the Broncos, I mean, they found themselves in the red zone several times, but they haven't been able to convert his size alone and his athleticism or even just yards after the catchability. I think if Davis Webb is calling plays in a tight-in position is used more than just a blocking decoy here, this could help the Broncos take a leap forward offensively. And this means that maybe you're overhauling this room outside of Evan Ingram.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Evan Ingram will be returning to the Broncos more than likely in 2026. And if Davis Webb is calling plays, I mean, those two guys were drafted together in New York. They're best friends. They know each other well. You think Evan Ingram is just going to sit there and not have Davis Webb, maybe dial some stuff up for him. That's where I think the difference between Sean and a guy like Davis Webb can kind of spark the offense, inject some youth into it, so to speak, because these tight ends aren't just going to be
Starting point is 00:23:53 block, block, block, block. Okay, occasionally we're going to go off for a pass. we're not going to be checked down, check release options late. They're going to be featured aspects of the offense. And no offense to guys like Adam Troutman or Nate Adkins or even veteran Mercedes-Lewis, but nobody's necessarily fooled or worried about you in the passing game there, which is why I think the decoy effect actually worked from time to time with guys like Troutman and Atkins, because, man, 90% of the time these guys are going to be blocking.
Starting point is 00:24:19 They're hardly going to be going out for a route. They're check release guys where they're going to block 101 against an edge rusher or a blitzer, and they're going to leak out to the flatter, just run underneath and sit. A guy like Nizoku paired with a guy like Evan Ingram, who I think will be utilized a lot more effectively this upcoming season. I think now all of a sudden, the offense becomes less one-dimensional. And man, can you just bear with me for a second, Broncos country? Imagine Denver trading for a top-tier wide receiver,
Starting point is 00:24:48 adding that guy into the mix. Or even if that doesn't happen, let's say they add Breece Hall to the mix. They add a tight end to the mix like Ijoku. to pair with Evan Ingram. And maybe you do bring back Adam Troutman just as a veteran reliable option for you here. You know how good he is as a blocker. You know what you're getting from him. But those moves right there, upgrade the tight end room impacts the running game a little bit more
Starting point is 00:25:10 because now defenses, they have to worry about the tight ends in the passing game. Well, now if you have a capable runner and he fits your scheme and all of a sudden the run game is now taken off, well, now defenses are gas because now you've got a running back who can absolutely wear down defenses here at altitude. and now everything else from the playbook standpoint opens up, you get more one-on-one opportunities, right? If defense are going to focus on taking away Cortland or if you add another receiver and they try to stop both of these premier guys on the opposite sides there, well, now guess what? You have a tight-in who could eat and convert for first downs. I think that this is the formula for the Broncos to have success to make a push to get to the Super Bowl here.
Starting point is 00:25:47 And obviously 2026, Super Bowl 61, which is in Los Angeles. I think Denver's got the advantage there. and you want to do whatever you can once again. This all goes back to just getting Bo Nicks more help around him. So he doesn't have to feel the need to put it all on his shoulders. I love the fact that Bo can use his legs and run. But man, if Bo has security options outside of just Cortland, things are going to be better here theoretically on paper.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Now, you're hoping that your offensive line. You're hoping that Bo, you're hoping that other players, some of your skill players can stay healthy throughout the regular season. That necessarily hasn't always been a problem for Denver. but the idea is like this is best case scenario. You get a fully healthy team with these upgrades right here. This offense on paper should be drastically better. This should be a top five, top seven offense if you can correct some of these little things.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I mean, the fact that the Broncos are able to score and do what they were able to do at times with Bo is impressive. Because around him, you can make the argument that coaching sometimes was a disadvantage for him where you're not taking the pressure off of him. You're not calling as many run plays and everything's going through Bow. and Bo has to press. Bo has to hurry up and get the play call in from Sean, who's maybe a little late on it. You mitigate and you avoid some of these things by upgrading your personnel here.
Starting point is 00:27:01 And why not? Look, Broncos country, this defense here in Denver, we know is Super Bowl caliber. Yes, maybe linebackers probably the biggest question for them, but we know this unit on the defensive line, outside linebacker,
Starting point is 00:27:12 the secondary, it is pretty damn good. It is a Super Bowl caliber defense. And if Drey Greenlock can stay healthy, he certainly adds some power element to that state. right there. But Denver's got the defense to be able to do it. Now, this is the time you push all your chips in on the offensive side of the ball because as you've seen, look, you've got a defense that can control the trenches. Denver certainly can do that. They can control the trench game there. They can
Starting point is 00:27:35 win up front with their physicality. And they can get after the quarterback. Well, now you need to be able to impose your will on opposing defenses with your offensive line that you view as a highly graded unit. Coming out of the AFC championship game, a lot of people are like, wait a minute, the offensive line looked terrible. And I would say they did in that game. But now let's say you adjust your scheme, you're more power-based, you're more gap scheme-related, we're going downhill. And, you know, from time to time, we'll sprinkle in some outside zone stuff. But you have a better run scheme here this upcoming season to help Bo Nix. And now you have upgrades at tight end. Well, guess what? This offense should be able to get them to the Super
Starting point is 00:28:08 Bowl in 2026. Now, this is all best case scenario stuff, right? And I think this is why we have these conversations in the off season, because you have to highlight this if you are serious about Denver may be making it one step further, right? The expectations of them saying, hey, we got to the AFC championship game, but we're not just satisfied with that. We want to get to the Super Bowl. Players have that hunger.
Starting point is 00:28:29 They have that motivation. And if you improve the offense, which I think is the biggest need here this offseason for Sean Peyton and company, this is what's going to get them back to Super Bowl contention, especially with the tough schedule they're going to play. I think players like Brise Hall, David Nizoku, we'll see what they do in terms of wide receiver. Those players added to the offense here for Denver,
Starting point is 00:28:47 makes them much more dangerous going forward this upcoming season. And I'm all here for it. Look, Broncos country, I'm excited about it. But I want to hear your thoughts on today's episode, the show your thoughts on obviously trading for a wide receiver, a premier name, and then obviously maybe adding a guy like Breece Hall, David Nizhoku in free agency. A tight end, I also debated on Kyle Pitts,
Starting point is 00:29:06 but stylistically, Evan Ingram and Kyle Pitts are very, very similar. So my worry is, are you having two guys that are doing the same thing? Could it work? Maybe. But I think the more appealing factor here is a big physical, tight-in who's got some athleticism like his joku pairing him with evan ingram i think would be icing on the cake here to upgrade the tight-in room in 2026 so make sure bronco's country you let me know your thoughts here on today's episode of the show sarah bedinger myself we're going to be back tomorrow's we're going to
Starting point is 00:29:31 highlight the top three free agent running backs that we feel like are on the free agency market the strengths the pros and cons why never should sign them or she'll walk away from those potential negotiations we'll go through all that on tomorrow's episode of the show broncos country we'll see you then
