Locked On Broncos - Daily Podcast On The Denver Broncos - RESILIENCE: Denver Broncos, Bo Nix DOMINATE Jaguars in Second Half

Episode Date: September 21, 2026

Bo Nix bounced back after the offense had a shaky first half, and the Denver Broncos answered their Kansas City letdown on Monday Night Football with a defensive statement against the Jacksonville Jag...uars. Can this formula carry them into Sunday Night Football against the Rams?Cody Roark and Sayre Bedinger examines Nix’s interception, offensive penalties, Luke Wattenberg’s snap issue, and the run game’s importance in creating manageable downs. The defense regained its gap integrity, generated interior pressure on Trevor Lawrence, and tackled with far more discipline. Plus, Jonah Coleman emerged as a complete three-down back, showcasing decisiveness on big runs, reliable pass protection, and smart situational awareness which makes it imperative the Broncos keep using him.Cody Roark is a credentialed beat reporter for Mile High Sports and provides boots-on-the-ground coverage of the Broncos daily in person. Sayre Bedinger is one of Broncos Country's longest-tenured voices, writing for Predominantly Orange. Starting point is 00:00:00 After what felt like a rough first half for the Denver Broncos offense, Bo Nix actually bounced back in a big way in the second half against the Jaguars. You are locked on Broncos. Your daily Denver Broncos podcast. Part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day. Happy victory Monday. Broncos country, Cody Rourke, Cair Beninger, two of the longest tenure voices in Broncos country here for you for another episode of the show.
Starting point is 00:00:31 As we talk about Bo Nix bouncing back against the Jaguars, the first half didn't look pretty for the offense. We'll tell you why Bonix actually had a really impressive game in the second half on and how he can build from it. Plus, Denver's defense seemingly returned to their roots in Sunday's win against the Jaguars. And they made things difficult for Trevor Lawrence. And they have to continue that trend going forward. And then we'll talk about why the Broncos simply can't ignore Jonah Coleman,
Starting point is 00:00:53 especially when RJ Harvey comes back. That'll be a major key for them. You get all that here on today's episode of the show brought to you by Fandu. You'll get $350 in bonus bets guaranteed when you bet $5 every day for seven days. Join all the action at Fandul.com. Thanks for making us your first list. Brockow's country, Sarah, let's get into this, man. Once again, going back last night, we did our post game show, we did the squad show. I went through and I watched the game again. I watched the all 22. And I think as we were watching the game in the first half,
Starting point is 00:01:20 I think you felt like, oh, man, it's just Bo Nicks, just not seeing it. Is he lacking confidence? I'll tell you, it's never as bad as you think it is on the first go round, right? And I think there are a few plays where we can pinpoint, okay, not a great play here from Bo, not a great decision here from Bo. We'll get that here in a minute. I actually felt like going back and watching the All-22 and breaking down the film. I felt like Bo Nix actually looked comfortable. I felt like some of the struggles offensively. I don't think that they were necessarily on Bo Nix. I think there were a couple of other pieces that we have to highlight where I felt like it impacted Boe specifically here. Let's start off with it. I think, you know, we got to look at the bad plays or the slow start.
Starting point is 00:01:56 It wasn't as bad in the moment. But I think it was that first third down throw, right? Denver had just had a penalty. It ended up being third and 11. His first third down throw is nearly picked by Travis Hunter. That one I just felt like, okay, both was trying to figure out what the anticipation is of the defense. What were your thoughts on that initially? Yeah, that play just felt like
Starting point is 00:02:15 kind of what you mentioned. It felt like the offense was just fighting uphill in the snow. You know, you know, like what your grandpa used to say about like, we used to have to climb uphill in the snow both ways. You know, like that's what it felt like the offense was doing. Just like creating
Starting point is 00:02:32 the most difficult circumstance possible for themselves to try to gain yardage. It's just like you felt like you can't do anything simple well. And that really bothered me. So it wasn't necessarily even just the throw. It was just the fact that like, let's just go get a drive starter going. Let's go get something, you know, just easy.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And then nothing was coming easy. And so that's where I was frustrated. But nine possessions in this game, Cody. I felt like the Broncos had six straight drives after three straight punts to open the game. I felt like they had six straight drives where they really started to kind of figure things out a little bit. It wasn't perfect. They didn't finish in the red zone every time they had opportunities. But man, I felt like that Bownix interception was the exception.
Starting point is 00:03:17 They should have had six straight scoring drives in this game. The last drive obviously was a victory formation drive. But it was really, I mean, a night and day difference from what we had seen in the Chiefs game. and then even early on in this Jags game. I think part of the slow starts too, man. I'm looking at it as more of, you know, the Broncos, the sum of their parts offensively. If one unit is picking it up from the week before,
Starting point is 00:03:43 another unit is somehow struggling, right? We mentioned the first three drives. It was a punt, punt, punt. You know, the boo birds were coming out and Powerfield of Mile High. People were writing the bobituraries at this point regarding Bo Nix's career. And I remember there are a lot of very vocal Jaguars media people saying the same
Starting point is 00:04:00 exact thing. But when you go back and you look at it, It's like, all right, you have some promising drives where you're, you know, you're starting to move the ball a little bit. Your first drive, penalty, set you back, third and 11. Second drive, you're moving the ball well. I think what was it, a second and three? Oh, now you have a holding penalty on Pat Bryant.
Starting point is 00:04:15 And then it ends up backing you up to about a third and 15. People want, Bo, I think, to go out there in the offense in general. And this makes it harder for Davis Webb. But it's like, oh, third and 15, okay, let's just run four verts. Like the defense just drops back and they play the sticks. They keep everything in front. And they take away the vertical stuff. It's like people want Bo Nix, I think, to throw into double or triple coverage.
Starting point is 00:04:35 And look, not to say that he can't do it, but I'm saying that's not the smart thing to do here for the Broncos. So I felt like that hurt them early on in this game. And then you have the player where he throws it to Jalen Wado on the run. Just a, you know, Jalen Wado goes up and gets it down to the one yard line and the Broncos can't punch it in. Sarah, to me, I'm not, I don't put that on Bo Nix. I really think that the offensive line, they had some issues in this game early. they had issues in Monday night football. I think specifically two guys that I felt like you need a little bit more from,
Starting point is 00:05:06 Luke Wattenberg. I didn't feel like had the best game in this game. And then Ben Powers at times too. You know, you have a situation here where you're on the one yard line. You can't punch it in. Well, now you have a snap, snafu with Wattenberg. The rest of the offensive line isn't moving.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And now all of a sudden the Jaguars in the back foot. And J.K. Dobbins, who's gassed, by the way, has to dance around. And now you lose yards instead of, you know, punching it in. You're at the one. and now you end up on the four-yard line, you have to kick a field goal. Like to me, that's not on Boe, Nick specifically. But let's get to the interception here because, you know, the one critique I'll have on the interception when you look at it, I understand what Bo is looking at.
Starting point is 00:05:42 Pre-snaps error, you're looking at the defense and it's very clear on the all 22. It's like, man, they're in zero coverage. They're literally man-to-man on everybody, right? And you've got three receivers to the left side. And then you've got, obviously, you know, your backside that you may default to. But what they had with on the top of the screen, they had a route where obviously the corner was playing up tight. He synced up. Jalen Waddle was kind of running in one of those pivot routes.
Starting point is 00:06:05 And it was hoped they was going to draw that nickel up to him. Instead of that, Sean Payton said it after the game, the Jaguars banjoed it, which is a combo call, which means, hey, like, if something comes this way, I'll sink back. The nickel actually sinks. And that's where Cortland is running on the corner. I don't think Bo anticipated the banjo, right? And sometimes you have to anticipate it. That was, I think, a great play by Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:06:28 And so Bo kind of throws it off his back foot. For me, that was the complaint for Bo on there. I just feel like fading away on your back foot and tossing it up. I don't think that's what you want to do. I know you can get away with it sometimes. But the Jaguars, they did a really good job on that play. And it did. It sucked because it came at a very crucial time.
Starting point is 00:06:46 The Broncos could have gotten a touchdown. And it took points off the board. And then the Jaguars go and march down the field right before halftime. So it kind of compounded. And so when you look at something negative like that, and snowballs into this, oh my gosh, the offense is terrible. Bo is terrible. You know, those are the things we're seeing.
Starting point is 00:07:02 And those are the things you might be thinking at the same time, too. That's why I was like going back and watching the film. Aside from that, I felt like Bo made some really good decisions on the day, settled in, especially going to the second half. He definitely did settle in after that interception. And you hate that it has to happen that way sometimes, right? It's like, you know, when a quarterback is like, I got that interception out of the way.
Starting point is 00:07:24 And then I was able to kind of settle that. I've heard quarterback say that in the past. You know, you don't want it to be that way. You don't want them to have to make a mistake like that in order to like settle into the game. I want to see Bo really come out firing from the opening snap. And I think that this game in particular, you're right, Cody, you mentioned it. The first two drives were kind of killed by penalties.
Starting point is 00:07:45 And then that third drive, we didn't really get a chance to talk about it post game. But they had a third and two, third and three play where they once again went with an empty backfield set and no threat to run the ball. So it was just a discombobulated situation going on offensively in the first, you know, quarter of the game, I would say. And then when you got down into the tight red zone, it almost was like they panicked and they didn't, like they're still running the crack toss plays or whatever it is out to the right. And it's like, just just run the ball and go figure what happened in the fourth quarter
Starting point is 00:08:18 when they actually did that or the third quarter whenever that was. I mean, Jonah Coleman hits paid her relatively easily. So I think that's the formula for this team is to just find a way to be bullies in the run game and then let Bo Nix go out there and live with that, you know, sort of benefit of having that run game to lean on. Because when he gets to roll out, when he gets to, you know, play with a clean pocket, we know he can make all the throws to every level of the field and what quarterback doesn't want to be able to roll out and have a clean pocket, right? but so Bo does have to do better when he does have pressure in his face. There's no question about it.
Starting point is 00:08:56 But the run game needs to be something that he can lean on. And when he can't, well, then you kind of have to exempt him from a little bit of the blame, right? Because it just makes his life that much more difficult when defenses are dictating what the Broncos can do offensively. And when you're down in distance is really putting you in horrible situations. So I think you have to have that efficiency from the. the start next in this next game against the LA Rams. Just go out there and play some bully ball. Don't be afraid of this.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Yeah. Especially run it right at Aaron Donald too. I mean, I don't care. He just came out of retirement. Can't be afraid. Can't run away from him at this point here. I thought Quinn Minors on that Jonah Coleman run on the fourth quarter inside for about 12 yards.
Starting point is 00:09:38 He bullied. He bullied the Jags defensive line. Quinn had a great game here. Broncos country. The Broncos returned to the roots. They found their footing in Sunday's game. But it was the defense that found a way to get back to who they were. We'll highlight that.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And you'll hear from guys like J-Quan Macmill and Q Robinson and Riley Moss. The Denver Broncos defense was back to their dominating ways after it a bit of embarrassing
Starting point is 00:12:13 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. They bounced back in a big way against the Jacksonville Jaguars, doing it in every possible way. Just absolutely shutting down an offense that had been, you know, dating back to last season plus 177 in the point margin. We all know about that. Jaguars fans made sure we all knew about that going into this game,
Starting point is 00:12:34 but the Broncos shut it down. And that's exactly what we expect from this defense. Isn't it, Cody, when we saw this team miss 24, 28, whatever it was officially in terms of the, tackles. Too many. Nearly 30 percent.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Yes, that's 20 something too many. You know, you might miss a couple of tackles over the course of a game, but geez, I mean, come on. But yes, that was a major source of, you know, lack of confidence going into week two for many in Broncos country. Now I think, okay, we can sleep a little bit easier at night knowing that this defense looks like they're back to their elite ways. Yeah, and I just felt like they got back to being more gap sound, you know, they had more
Starting point is 00:13:13 integrity off the edge. I thought the outside linebackers for the most part on Sunday, they're a really good job of squeezing down the end man in the line of scrimmage. And then if something extended wide, you know, taking a lateral 45 degree step to be able to take the near hip. And I also felt like at times, too,
Starting point is 00:13:28 how they wanted to stunt and loop around to create pressure on Trevor Lawrence, I felt like was effective to the point. It wasn't just always a cage rush, right? Because Trevor's a mobile quarterback. But Denver maintained it to where I felt like they looped a little bit more in the interior inside the, you know, on the B and the C gaps versus just the outside. And I think that's what we allowed the Broncos D to have success where Trevor
Starting point is 00:13:50 couldn't necessarily take it to the outside because you got Benito Q Robinson, Jonah, Elastandre Tillman. And at times, you know, they're bringing Talanoa Hufanga up into the box and he can kind of be that kind of rover guy where they almost kind of used him as a spy on certain situations or an extra box defender against the run. Oh, and then you get into the point where it's, you know, you're just playing sound. And now you're creating that interior penetration. I understand the Jaguar's O lines a little bit different at some spots compared to what they had last year.
Starting point is 00:14:17 But Trevor Lawrence still despite some pressure, he was making some really good throws. He had some surgical throws. And it's like as a defensive coordinator and even as a player, you're looking at that and you're like, there's not much you can do. Like you've just got to live with it. You've got to move on to the next play. But so much of it is the Broncos, they got back to the standard of trying to be a number one defense in the NFL. Caught up with Broncos outside linebacker, Q Robinson after the game that maintained.
Starting point is 00:14:41 That is the Broncos standard. Yeah, man, we just keep hopping on that standard, man. We got to tackle well, we got to swore on the ball. We got to get the ball out. We got more turnovers. And we just got to continue to try to be the number one defense for sure. And Q Robinson played his part in that in this game, Cody. He was explosive.
Starting point is 00:14:57 He was physical. And I think he's kind of proving like the Broncos were right to go ahead and take him out. I can't remember the exact number of snaps it was at Alabama. He didn't have many defensive snaps because they were so deep off the edge. But the Broncos saw in whatever limited number that was, They were like, hey, this guy's got the goods. And he showed that against the Jacksonville Jaguars, maybe more snaps in Q Robinson's future for sure.
Starting point is 00:15:20 That was one of the biggest differences to me in this game was the disruptive pass rush overall. And remember last year in the game against the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence was running all over. To your point about cage rush, quarterback spy, things like that, he was kind of running all over the Broncos. And that was a big reason for why they struggled so badly is that they couldn't really figure out any sort of advantage.
Starting point is 00:15:43 No sort of edge, you know, for a pun fully intended there. They couldn't figure out an edge against Trevor Lawrence. And they couldn't figure out a way to stop him consistently. And he was just locked in this game. They shut it down. And it started with that interior rush. Malcolm Roach, Zach Allen early on in this game. They were so disruptive.
Starting point is 00:16:01 And it helped the Bronco secondary make some plays on the ball. And it was loud too. Empower Field did a great job of being rowdy. There were a couple times with Trevor Lawrence and they couldn't hear. And he couldn't communicate to the guys. And they ended up blowing, I think, a couple of timeouts due to that. But it all goes back to kind of resetting. After Monday night football, the bad tackling experience, here's what Broncos cornerback.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Jayquan Macbillon had to say. Of course, it's always been the standard. You know, we didn't do that last week. You know, we responded to the right way. Had a great week of practice on a short week. You know, just went out there and kept fighting and they got the W. And so how do you continue that going forward, right? I mean, you don't want to have another breakdown and, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:41 situation like we saw against Kansas City where it's, hey, 20-something missed tackles, we need to refocus. How does this defense maintain that level of focus? And I think actually, Cody, Riley Moss really speaks to that. And the importance of not just coming off of a bad game, but how do you then respond to a good game? Things that we got to work on and, you know, it wasn't a perfect game, but, you know, we got the W.
Starting point is 00:17:03 And there's things that, you know, I can get better at. There's things that, you know, we can get better at. back end and that's something that, you know, we have to, you know, we have to address. And, you know, the biggest thing is, is can you come back from, you know, a loss like that on Monday night? And then can you come back from a win like we had today? So, you know, it's on to the next and, you know, it's focused in one week at a time. Which I think is huge because now here, which is now here and you're preparing for is Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night football, a team that loves to run the ball with Kyron Williams. They
Starting point is 00:17:35 I love to run out of 12 and 13 personnel going heavy because they run a lot of that Shanahan style of offense under Sean McVeigh. And guess what? They have two really good receivers and Devante Adams and Pooka and Nakua and they have a loaded tight end room. Like this is going to be a tough challenge here this week here for this Broncos team. So I'm with Riley on that. How do you respond?
Starting point is 00:17:54 Like, you know, hey, how do you bounce back from a loss? Well, how do you handle a win? And I'm very curious how the team's approach will be this upcoming week. But I'm not concerned about it. Like I'm not expecting them to be like, you know what? We got back on track against the Jaguar's. Let's just, all right, now we're going to coach. I do think that this team has the right mentality.
Starting point is 00:18:10 I've been around it enough, Sarah, to say, you know, this team, they never get too high and they never get too low. They do a really good job of kind of riding the middle pine right there. I think that Denver's going to be just fine at this point. But it's going to be a tough challenge for them. I'm excited to see how they respond. And then the last guy we got to hear from was Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton, who under this fan pace is under a lot of fire. He was chippy. Like the Broncos defense was chippy.
Starting point is 00:18:33 J-Mack was John with the Jaggs. This was like a chippy fun matchup. And I didn't agree with the Alex Singleton penalty. I didn't think that was a great call. He got called for unnecessary roughness. But here's what Alex had to say about that. You get the unnecessary roughness penalty. Then after that, first and goal from three.
Starting point is 00:18:49 They shut them down and that was pivotal. Yeah, their coaches like to complain about people hitting people. So I got a fine last year for it. I'll probably get this one or send it too. But, you know, they like to complain as you've watched today. And so, yeah, you know, it's on to the next place. Sean talks about all the time. Whatever they call, it's not us.
Starting point is 00:19:05 So it's on to the next play. We're able to do that. And, you know, our thing is win first down. We're able to win the first down on that. And then, you know, second, third and long, get out the field. I mean, that's some, I don't know. I like it, Cody. That's, I like that kind of thing from Alex Singleton right there because that's kind of what you needed from him.
Starting point is 00:19:23 I think after the first game, it was disappointing to hear just kind of, I know they did bounce back. So he was right, but it was kind of disappointing to just kind of hear, hey, we're going to be fine. Like everything's okay. It's like you don't really want to hear that after a game in which you just get, you know, missed nearly 30 tackles. But after you get called for unnecessary roughness and you can take a little dig, you can take a little shot at the opposing team, I kind of, that's the kind of mentality that I like. You know, I'm not saying, hey, go talk smack and give bulletin board material all the time. But, you know, be confident in who you are and kind of let us know that it's personal to you when that stuff is happening as opposed to just like,
Starting point is 00:20:02 it's no big deal. You know, I like it. I like that mentality from Singleton. Yeah, I felt like the defense was fired up all game long mentality-wise. You know, they're aggressive to a point, right? And it's like you don't want to take away the aggressiveness by saying, all right, hey, guys, you can't get a penalty. You can't get certain penalties.
Starting point is 00:20:18 You can't get dumb penalties, right? But you don't want to overcoach, try not to, you know, to eliminate that. And it takes away the aggressiveness that your defense does. Denver's defense, man, fantastic second half from them in this game. Tough test coming up with the Los Angeles Rams. But coming up next, Broncos Country. Sarah and I are going to tell you why the Broncos can't ignore Jonah Coleman going forward. Matt Derry here from the Lockdown Lions podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:40 You know, life insurance is one of those things. You don't really think about until you have a reason to. For me, it really hit home when my father passed away over 20 years ago. Starting point is 00:22:45 Just want to say thank you once again to everyone in Broncos country. All the everydayers out there for making us your first listen here on the Lockdown podcast network, your team every day. Also the number one sports podcast network in the country. Brockos country, we got you covered every day all year long. Sarah, let's tell Broncos country, oh, they probably know this, but let's all collectively tell the Broncos why they simply cannot ignore Jonah Coleman going forward. I think what you saw, and you mentioned this in our postgame show for those that didn't
Starting point is 00:23:11 have a chance to go see this, he feels like the most pure all-around runner that the Broncos have three down, like a back in terms of running the ball, being able to catch the ball of the backfield and pass protection. He's got those three layers that you hear Sean Payton talk about him. You can't help us say, you know what? Sean is saying this, and it's not just propping this guy up. Sean truly believes it. And we saw those things in Sunday's game for Jonah Coleman,
Starting point is 00:23:35 who had to step up because injuries to RJ Harvey and late in the game because of an injury to J.K. Dobbins. I think the only question with Jonah coming into this season was how much could those traits translate to the NFL right away, right? Because when he was at Washington, we saw the same stuff, yards after contact, saw him do a great job catching the ball out of the backfield. He was obviously known for being a good pass protector at Washington and kind of just being a pro-style running back for lack of a better way of putting it, playing for Jedfish at Arizona and then at UW for a couple of seasons. We saw those traits translated in that fourth quarter against a one of the best teams in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Let's just call it what it is. Like Jonah Coleman sticking his nose in there and pass protection, giving Bownecks time recognizing as Boe Nix is calling out, 23's the mic, 23's the mic. 23 is the mic. Jonah is finding the right guy to pick up in pass protection. And I don't think it's any coincidence that some of the Broncos best and most balanced, most sustained drives came in this game when not just the tide had turned and the momentum had shifted and there's all these intangible things. It came when Jonah came into the game.
Starting point is 00:24:48 It did. And so I just feel like the Broncos confidence in the way that they call plays with Jonah out there. yes, it came out of necessity. But what does Sean Payton always say? Confidence is born from demonstrated ability. So now you've got a running back whose confidence is going to be absolutely through the roof. And he has to get more touches.
Starting point is 00:25:09 He has to be, I said this after the game, my mind hasn't changed, even though I've had time to sleep on it now. I think he's running back one going forward. And I think you preserve J.K. Dobbins for those late game situations, right? Where you're saying, hey, we want to run the ball down the, these guys throat or let's say you have a seven point lead at half time you get the ball coming out of the half that's where i think jk daubbins can shine right and you can go say hey let's ride daubbins and he can be our fresh legs here r j harvey we know is going to have a role when he comes
Starting point is 00:25:39 back there's no question he's going to be the past catching specialist but it's just a tension that you live in right where you have to ride the hot hand at running back and jonah coleman is the hot hand yeah well here's my concern too like when r j comes back because i agree with you RJ's got a very valuable role here. I just don't want to see what we have seen in the last handful of years, specifically with this coaching staff, where you do have a guy who stands out and makes a big play or makes several big plays the way that Jonah did.
Starting point is 00:26:07 And then the next week, minimal snaps, not as many touches. Like we were coming into Monday night football thinking, hey, okay, we're going to see the three backs here on Monday night football. RJ was the primary ball carry. He had the most snaps out of any running back. And then JK was hardly seen until the second half of that game against. KC and Jonah got three snaps offensively late in the fourth quarter when you're down 31 to 10. It's just like, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:26:31 This is not what the Broncos talked about. And we talked about as well. Denver said that they saw enough from Jonah in the preseason to say, okay, we've seen enough. We don't want to play this guy. We don't want to risk him. Well, now guess what? You saw in an actual regular season game where it's meaningful. And yes, there are going to be people that look just at the box score and like 10 carries, 39 yards.
Starting point is 00:26:49 That's nothing. That's not what we're talking about. We are not talking about that at all. the fourth quarter, go watch specifically. He helps the Broncos ice it. Look, nice vision on the three-yard touchdown run from him. But it's the burst and the decisiveness when he made an inside cut on a 12-yard run, reading Quinn Miner's block all the way.
Starting point is 00:27:08 And then it's getting to the outside where I don't even think it was designed to go outside. I think it was just how the defense collapsed inside. He bounced it. And instead of running up and going and scoring, which sometimes workies think like this, like, hey, I've got the sideline. You know what Jonah does? Jonah slides. Jonah says, you know what? It's not about me.
Starting point is 00:27:24 And he said that as well in the locker and he says, you know, it's not about me. He said, I want us, I want our team to win. So he slid knowing that by slide here, the Jaguars have no more timeouts. We can take a knee and we can win the game. To me, that's the smart play. And that's something that you don't get with a lot of young guys,
Starting point is 00:27:42 Sarah. And that's why I think the Broncos, they should have trust in Jonah Coleman. And that's why Sean Payton has said now a million times. Like you don't feel a rookie when Jonah Coleman is out there. Right. You don't. You feel a veteran back. You feel somebody who seems like he's been around for a really long time. I mean, even something as simple as having the presence of mind
Starting point is 00:28:04 and talking it through before the game with Terrell Davis about the mile high salute stuff, Cody, this guy cares about the details. And when you have a running back who cares about the details, who cares about situation, who cares about pass protection, who cares about everything that helps a team win, that's the type of running back that I want getting the majority of snaps for my team. And so to me, this is the Jonah Coleman show now. And we'll see what happens because obviously we can say that.
Starting point is 00:28:34 The Broncos would have to do it in order to make it, you know, a reality. But I do feel like, and I don't think it's an overreaction. I just think that you rested this guy after three carries in the preseason or whatever it was. You put him on ice. And we didn't see him in week one. I know that situationally that that was dictated by trailing in that game, having to fight back and come back and throw a lot more. But man, the team clearly believes significantly in what Jonah Coleman can do. And I think now we've seen exactly why that is.
Starting point is 00:29:08 My prayer here, I just think they're going to take him off kick return. Like that, that scares me. It's like Jonah is not a kick returner, though he can do it, right? He can field it. The last thing you need is, right? because Denver, he got hit on his first catch out of the back, but right on the quad. And he kind of went limping.
Starting point is 00:29:25 He went to the blue medical tent as able to come back and finish the game. I'm thinking to myself, wow, you're down RJ Harvey. Now you're down J.K. Dobbins in this game. Oh, just imagine it's Tyler Badegh, Jonah Coleman, and Adam Prentice as your running backs right now, like putting him back to the Broncos really got to figure that out. They got to figure out who else to put back there a kick return because I think right now, Jonah, don't put him in that situation. And that's where I think bad things can happen.
Starting point is 00:29:50 So we'll see where things go here for the Broncos going forward. Broncos Country. Let us know your thoughts here on today's episode of the show.
