Starting point is 00:00:37 We'll give some of our bold predictions and why we think the Broncos run game success will carry over from preseason game number one to number two. We'll also highlight specific players to watch on offense and defense that we have our eyes on in tonight's matchup. We're going to kick things off by really diving deep into this is going to be the first opportunity for us to see that Bow Nix, Jay Lewato connection in a real meaningful game. Now we saw some fireworks, a little bit of an appetizer in Trinney Camp practice this week between these two, but everyone's got their eyes on that tonight. Sarah, I'm excited, my friend, a preseason game here. Once again, two weeks in the next week, it's going to be the third

Starting point is 00:01:12 and final preseason game. Then the regular season is going to be here. Where has time gone? I tell you, I'm excited about it, my man, but I think everyone's excited to see Bo and Jalen here tonight. Absolutely. These are obviously two of the biggest stars on the team. And of course, Bo Nicks, being the franchise quarterback coming off of injury. Everybody wants to see him out there in action on the home field, kind of addressing, as we talked about in the squad show, not just the exact spot on the field, but just kind of getting back out there once again and running around, making a cut or something like that, you know, for Bo to just kind of get his sea legs back underneath him and just to get comfortable being back out there on the field. And what better way to get comfortable

Starting point is 00:01:51 being back out on the field than to just launch one to Jalen Waddle, Cody. I mean, I know as you and I were talking on the phone the other day after that, you know, that practice in which this past play occurred, you were describing it to me. And I was just like, man, I really hope we see a throw like this in the preseason. And Sean Payton, after practice, you know, Mike Cliss trying to joke around with him, he's like, you know, basically guaranteeing a future touchdown. He's like, my touchdowns are more important than your story. So I get that.

Starting point is 00:02:20 Like, and maybe that also applies to the preseason, right? He doesn't want to put that on tape in the preseason. But I do hope in some way, shape or form, we get to see this connection in its fullness. right it doesn't have to be a 60 yard bomb which i know you i gotta have you describe it for the listeners how much i loved it but man it just it's got to be some form of a connection between these two guys to show us the franchise qb is back and the missing piece is actually the missing piece yeah jel wattle looks like that and i'm trying to remember the last time i've seen a preseason game where at least the starting unit has uncorked a long deep pass i'm trying to remember the last time it's

Starting point is 00:02:58 not just in denver i think like around the league like first team offenses i don't think they're trying to just tuck the home run ball. It's been a while. Maybe we see that, though, no, but I'll go back through and I'll describe to Broncos. This is what I'm excited about. This is what Jalen Waddle is bringing to the table here in Denver. It was Wednesday's training camp practice. I'm on the far end.

Starting point is 00:03:18 They're next to the fans. Like, they're in front of the fans and they're trying to move down the field towards us. I got my handy dandy binoculars and these things, they're crystal clear, HD. And they bring me up to a point where it's like, I feel like I'm 20 yards away, right? I'm watching Bow Nix, drop back to pass. He steps up in the pocket to avoid pressure coming off the outside edge. And he just launches a beautiful dime through the air. And so I'm following the ball through the air with the binoculars.

Starting point is 00:03:42 I'm just watching it perfect spiral. And it's just traveling. You know, we saw the Marvin Mim, Cincinnati bomb. This was almost very similar to that, Sarah. I kind of got that feeling that I got when I saw that play happen there. But it's just traveling perfectly. And at first, because I'm looking at my binoculars, I'm not seeing who he's throwing it to, right?

Starting point is 00:03:59 So once the ball's up in the air and I see the spiral, I pull it down to see, okay, now I'm going to see who's tracking. Of course, it's Jaylen Waddle. He got behind Pat Surtan. Sertan's trailing him, and it just lands perfectly over the shoulder of Jalen Waddle. He catches it in the end zone, touchdown, and it's like, hey, this is a true dynamic game changer here that the Broncos have. And obviously Pat even went to the podium, I think, after practice.

Starting point is 00:04:24 He was asked like a million questions. Like, oh, like, you got burnt on this play. Like, it's like, dude, it's practice. Like it happens. It's like everyone was making it seem like something happened to Pat Zertan. Patzertan fell off. Like people got to chill out with that stuff. But great play.

Starting point is 00:04:38 But Pat even acknowledged Jalen. He said he's the type of guy that can catch a pass at five yards and take it 65 for a touchdown. Or he can be the type of guy that can get behind a defense and catch a long touchdown. This dynamic will make it a lot harder for the defense that the Broncos have to go against this upcoming season to try to dictate their own terms against them the way that they have the last two years. this offense has a chance to explode. And I think this connection between Bo and Jalen, we're going to see a lot of it. And maybe we just see Davis Webb come out of the script here tonight

Starting point is 00:05:07 and just the first couple of place. Two straight past plays. Just throw it. Throw it there to Jalen Waddle from Bo Nix and then get them going and then get them out. Yeah, I agree with that. And look, we saw in the first preseason game, we did see the Broncos attacking downfield quite a bit. And so I wouldn't be surprised if that is in the plans,

Starting point is 00:05:27 especially because, you know, after being held out for three straight days, Cortland Sutton gets three early targets in that game for 60 yards, and that included a downfield target where he was in one-on-one coverage. So I guess it wouldn't shock me to necessarily see the Broncos try to get Jalen Waddle, maybe some targets to all three levels of the field. Maybe they're going to try to get him something short, maybe they're going to try to get something intermediate and then something deep.

Starting point is 00:05:52 I know that his injury sort of complicates it, and it's not apples to apples when you're comparing, hey, well, Cortland Sutton got three targets in the first preseason game. So Jalen Waddle should get, you know, it's not apples to apples in that way because of the injury. But at the same time, if he's fully healthy, which if you're burning Pat Sartan on a deep ball, that seems to indicate that you are fully healthy. We kind of talked about this earlier this week. We want to see at least a little bit of, you know, some regular season type of,

Starting point is 00:06:21 it doesn't have to be, you know, getting deep into your bag of plays. but do something that you might expect him to do during the regular season. And I think that's fair. I think that's something that Jaylon's going to want to do. I think that's something that Bo is going to want to do because if the first reps that they have together are against the Kansas City Chiefs, then that's a possibility that we're talking after the game. Like, man, Bo and Jaylen could have really used a preseason rep or two, you know, just to get a target his direction, just because they're not quite there.

Starting point is 00:06:51 And not to say that, well, he's going to throw two passes to Jalen Wattle against the Packers a preseason game and that's going to unlock everything for the regular season. But you just never know what can help and what can hurt. And so I think that getting these two guys, some rapport built up, that's crucial to me here in tonight's game against the Packers. Yeah, I'm very curious to see what type of approach Davis and the Broncos have. I mean, I would almost guess that they're going to try to come out early on and run the ball.

Starting point is 00:07:17 I'll be very curious to see if J.K. Dobbins plays in tonight's game because I think he's one of those guys. If you're looking at anybody, you know, I feel this way about Bow. But because they want to get them reps, Bo wants to play. I mean, they're going to do that. I think it's a little different with JK. And I'm curious for your thoughts on that too. But come out and establish to run with JK.

Starting point is 00:07:33 And if it's not JK, we know RJ Harvey's going to get to start again. I would very much like to see Jonah Coleman getting some reps with Bo Nix and this offense. So maybe if JK doesn't play, maybe the football gods will let us see that here in tonight's preseason action against the Green Bay Packers. Broncos country, let's know your thoughts on the Bo Nix to J. The Waddle connection and what you want to see from these two in the limited action we anticipate that they will play here in tonight's game. And let us know your players to watch in Friday night's game as well, because we're going to be keeping our eyes on a lot of players, Cody. And I want to kick it to you first here. Maybe we start on the defensive side. We always start offense. Let's start with defense here.

Starting point is 00:09:43 On defense, who are you watching out for against Green Bay? There's a lot of interesting matchups. The Packers obviously very talented team. Who would you say is your number one guy on the defensive side? side that you're watching in tonight's game. Yeah, I'm going to go to Tori in York this week at linebacker. You know, I thought Vance Joseph earlier in the week had a great bit on him about like what Torian is doing well, that he's shooting the gaps really effectively, right?

Starting point is 00:10:06 He's playing his responsibility. We all know Torian's undersized, but that hasn't seemed to stop him from flying around. I mean, he's wherever the football is too. And I think that's like when you have the combination of he and Red Murdoch, you love to see those guys near the football. But York is one of those guys I feel like probably brings a little bit more of a better coverage dynamic. Vance Joseph even highlighted. In this three four defensive scheme, the way that they view it, like they're Sam and their will or their outside linebackers, right? Weak side,

Starting point is 00:10:32 strong side. Their inside backers are called the Mike and Mo. Mike is the strong side inside linebacker. The Mo is the weak side inside linebacker. And Torian's kind of that mo. But did you, did you catch where Vance said earlier in the week? He said, you know, a lot of these guys at that linebacker spot, you know, they got to know both positions, but they also have to know dying as well. Torian has a chance, in my opinion, to really compete for that Moe, weak side linebacker spot, but also, I think, a role inside of the dime as well, because you need a guy. You know, he's specifically in the dime package when you want to cover in a key passing down situation, you want a guy who can cover.

Starting point is 00:11:06 And I feel like Torian might be the best coverage guy in terms of athleticism that the Broncos have at this position, not to say that in the regular season, he's going to start or be that dime guy over anybody else. But no, he needs to be able to cover guys. I think he does have that. He fills the run gaps quickly. So I'm going to be keeping my eye on number 42 here in tonight's game. Where do you stand here on your defensive selection? I love that pick.

Starting point is 00:11:28 It's a great one. And I did notice those comments from Vance. And I think that's really important to watch in coverage those linebackers in this game. That'll be fun to see how they do. I've got Tyler Owen Yetam as my guy, Cody. The Broncos top pick in this year's draft. I know that there was some clips rolling around Twitter X, you know, about his debut in the preseason. I didn't think just in the end.

Starting point is 00:11:49 I didn't think he played poorly or anything like that. I want to see some splashes, though, from the Broncos top pick in this year's draft. I want to see I heard about he had a sack or would be sack in practice this past week. And so I'm excited for his development and progression. Obviously, you're getting your feet wet in your first NFL preseason game last week against Atlanta. Now you get to be a little more juiced up, a little more maybe you're prepared mentally for what to expect going against Green Bay, playing at home in front of the home crowd. I feel like One Yetam is going to come out in this game really juiced up

Starting point is 00:12:22 and give the Broncos defensive line a little something more to talk about this week. That was kind of one of my hopes is that we would come away from that Atlanta game really talking a lot about, man, that defensive line, this guy made it play, that guy made a play. Ultimately, it was one sack in total, although the pass rush was nice. Overall, it was only Drew Sanders that got home for a sack and it was a coverage sack. So I'm looking to own yetam, who I think is going to play a lot of snaps in tonight's game. I'm looking to him to really create some havoc, stop the run, knife through the line and scrimmage, show us that length, that strength, that ability to anchor and kind of just be a little more juiced up this week after what we saw against Atlanta.

Starting point is 00:13:03 I feel like the challenge for the defensive line and the preseason specifically, we know how it attacks in the regular season. Vance loops and pulls guys around. He has specific stunts that he runs, but he's not running those things here in the preseason. He's running them in practice. and we've seen Oneedem in these situations where he is calling those things, we're seeing him have an impact. So part of me is like when you look at the preseason tape for Denver, they're playing a very vanilla defense in comparison to what we're normally expected to see.

Starting point is 00:13:31 They play a lot of zone, a lot of match coverage in terms like, you know, they may have a zone call, but if a certain receiver crosses a depth or, you know, receiving threat crosses into a specific zone area and keeps going, they have to match that. Like they have to essentially play zone, but then turn it into man, based on what route concepts come in their way. But like for the defensive line, I do feel like it's harder to showcase what they do

Starting point is 00:13:52 when they have to call such a vanilla scheme where you're not doing these exquisite. Like you've got, let's say, One Edom's lined up as a one technique, which is on the shoulder of the center. You're not seeing these plays where he has to slant inside. And then all of a sudden, now you've got the defensive end from the outside, wrapping around and looping where you got a linebacker

Starting point is 00:14:08 blitzing up the A gap right there in replace it where he's at. We're not seeing as much of that. So I want to see a little bit of that. Vance, pull that out of the bag a little bit because if Brian Flores is going to be a sicko in Minnesota, you can at least do a couple of things here and there to get after, you know, opposing opposition quarterbacks. I can't even, I don't even know off the top of my head who Green Bay's backup quarterback is right now, but those guys should be fearing for their life against this defense. We'll see if that transpires your day. Let's go to the offensive side of the ball, Sarah.

Starting point is 00:14:35 I think for me, I'm going to go once again, two weeks in a row with undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Cameron Ross. He has gotten a lot of run at times with the first team. offense. I know the Broncos like to rotate guys in. It doesn't matter if they're undrafted or whatnot. They rotate guys all throughout. But Cameron Ross seems to be sticking a little bit more with getting some first team reps in comparison to maybe some of the other guys. I liked what we saw from him last week. He had the 28-yard rush where he was stumbling, rumbling and bumbling. But I want to see a little bit more in terms of the feature, you know, what he's going to look like. I imagine he'll probably play a lot with the second team offense here in tonight's game. I want to see what he can do because

Starting point is 00:15:12 he, in my opinion, with Marvin Mim still dealing with an injury, he's your best potential backup punt return option. I think he should be one of your solidified kick return options here this upcoming season, which makes the Broncos roster dynamics in terms of the 53, very interesting because maybe he doesn't make the 53, but the Broncos will want to stash him on the practice squad. He has a chance to make it hard for them to do that if he breaks off a big return and has a big catch or some big gains here in tonight's game.

Starting point is 00:15:39 That's where I'm going on the offensive side of the ball. Where are you? I really hope he does have a big game in the return game, especially, Cody. I'm going to go with Justin Jolie, though, on the offensive side of the ball, sticking with the rookie class. I've seen his name pop up a lot this week, as opposed to maybe earlier on in training camp, and we're kind of asking the question, hey, how's Justin Jolie doing?

Starting point is 00:16:01 Haven't heard much about him. I feel like I've seen his name pop up a lot Monday through Wednesday. And what I think that means is that he's going to be very actively involved in the game plan against the Packers. The Broncos are going to try to get a clear look at Justin Jolie and what he can do in this game. That's my theory anyway. We'll see if it works out. But I want to see more of him anyway. Like we talked about that after the first preseason game. Where were the tight ends? There was nothing from those guys. Other than Evan Angram catching the pass that he did up the seam. The tight ends were pretty much blocking for Jalil McLaughlin, some Tyler Bode, a lot of Cody Schrader. So I want to see more involvement in the passing game from those guys.

Starting point is 00:16:39 I want to see Justin Jolie get some targets to all levels of the field because we know one of his best traits is his length and his ability to win at the catch point. So I want to see those traits highlighted. I want to see the Broncos and Davis Webb really try to say, hey, let's give once again, we talked about this earlier this week with Bo Nix playing the highlights, right? We want to see Justin Jolie's highlights. Give him opportunities at the catch point. Give him opportunities in the red zone. Give him opportunities in the short passing game because how many times at NC State. Did we see, and even Yukon, he took a pass, a short, quick pass, and he goes, gets up field in a hurry.

Starting point is 00:17:16 He's got some yard after the catch ability. So Justin Jolie is my guy on the offensive side that I'm saying, I think the Broncos are going to try to highlight him. I know he was kind of in the midst of some of the, you know, the whatever kerfuffle, scuffle, truffle. I don't care what you want to call it. Tussle. Yeah. Whatever it is. I mean, my gosh, there's so many different words.

Starting point is 00:17:37 It's call it a fight. You know, it's a fight. It's not a fist to cuffs, but Justin Jolie was kind of maybe in that competitive spirit a little bit this week. And so I kind of feel like he's one to watch in tonight's game. Yeah. And I would say I would like to see it too because I would say it was kind of a rough week for Jolie in terms of practice. I would say it was more like a welcome to the NFL. Like he was just going through it, you know, because there was the skirmish initially that he kind of initiated.

Starting point is 00:18:00 And then it was him versus four different Broncos defenders, you know, in a grab and pole and having some kind words for each other. But then, you know, he had one play as well where he was coming underneath, and Tori and York just decleaded him, essentially, on an underneath route there. And he got the wind knocked out of him. He held onto the ball, but man, he was filling it. And then you had guys like Q Robinson chirping in his ear. So he threw the ball at Q Robinson. But, I mean, he's a tough dude.

Starting point is 00:18:27 But then he went up on one play. He was wide open up the seams there. He jumped up and caught it and he was coming down with it. He couldn't hold it. It's like when he was falling to the ground. I don't know if his knee. hit it or something or if the ground caused it, but then he dropped it. And then in Wednesday's practice, he rose up over a defender and he got called for

Starting point is 00:18:45 offensive PI, which I, I'm a defensive guy. You know me, Sarah. I disagree. I did not think that was offensive PI. I felt like he did a really good job of timing it, positioning his body to go up and rise above the cornerback. I believe it was Chris Abrams drain, if I'm not mistaken, and going up and snagging it. But the ref, like he celebrated the offense celebrated with him, then the ref threw the flag

Starting point is 00:19:07 and signaled offensive PI. And all the defensive guys were pointing and laughing at him. I was like, come on, man. Like, it's been a rough week for Jolie. So I want to see maybe that frustration he asked from like just how the week was a little bit. I want to see him unleashed that as well here in tonight's preseason game. Broncos country, send us in your players on offense and defense that you have your eyes on in tonight's game that aren't named Bo Nix and Jalen Waddle. We can't wait to hear who you have your eyes on here.

The Denver Broncos had a lot of success in week one of the NFL preseason in terms of running the football, as Davis Webb saw his second game action ever, calling plays, and I think that trend is going to continue here tonight. Broncos country,

Sir, let's get into bold predictions for tonight's game. We can give one offensively, defensively each. I'm going to start things off here because that's kind of what we've teased for the show. The Broncos ran for 162 yards last week against the Atlanta Falcons, and we know Green Bay. I mean, it varies in the precinct, but Green Bay typically has a really good defense, right? I'm going to say the Broncos will run once again for 150 plus yards collectively as a team in tonight's game.

Starting point is 00:21:40 And I do think we will see Jalil McLaughlin, bold prediction here. I think we'll see Jolululahlea Loflin have a run of 35 plus yards in tonight's game. That's my bold prediction. I'm marking it down. What is a bold prediction you have for Denver's offense here tonight? Okay. Here's what I'm thinking. So I'm setting the over under at 99.5 and I'm pushing over.

Starting point is 00:22:03 I'm pushing the over on Joseph Manjack receiving yards in this game. And I'm saying 100 yards plus for Joseph. Let's just go off, Man Jack. Let's make, let's give everybody something to talk about. No gloves, no wristbands. I'm going to overplay that as much as I possibly can. I'm shoving the over on 99.5 for receiving yards in this game for Joseph Manjack. Hey, you want to, we got to get bold here, Cody.

Starting point is 00:22:28 We got to let's, Manjack's going to be making plays in this game. I think you just said something that made me. like want to come up with a nickname, but I'm not sure it's appropriate for me to share here on the air. It might be. I was going to say, because you mentioned no gloves. I said, Joseph Manjack, no gloves, all love from Broncos quarterbacks because he's throwing, like, you want to throw it to a guy who's sure handed. And guess what? The best, the best hands are these ones, not the ones with the gloves and the stick them and whatever heck they wear nowadays. The best hands you could possibly have are the God-given ones. So Joseph Manjack, no gloves. Hopefully a lot of

Starting point is 00:23:00 love from the quarterbacks here today. Yeah, I can't wait to see. I think he's going to get a lot of playing time. He earned some more targets after that first preseason game. He made some tough catches, move the chains a couple of times, if I remember correctly. So I'm looking forward to seeing more Joseph Manjack on the defensive side of the ball, Cody. I know we talked about sacks last week, kind of being a slight disappointment in terms of there only being one.

Starting point is 00:23:27 I'm going to say, I'm going to say minimum. Let's set the over under here. I'm going to say 1.5 strip sacks in this game and I'm going to take over for the Bronch. I think at least two, at least two strip sacks from the Broncos defense in this game as my bold prediction against the Packers. All right. Okay. So if you have to say someone's going to get a strip sack, right? If you're setting at one and a half, who is one of the players defensively that's going to get a strip sack?

Starting point is 00:23:51 Is it going to be an outside backer, a defensive lineman? Or could it be a blitzing linebacker like Red Murdoch or Jordan Turner? Like where are you going here? Give me Q Robinson. Give me Q Robinson on the strip sack. I think it's to Rod Taylor as the backup quarterback. But I don't know beyond that. Let me just pull up their depth chart now as we're even talking right now.

Starting point is 00:24:13 It's Kyle McCord as the other one. So I'm saying absolutely a strip sack or two is in order for this game. I think Q Robinson is going to get one of them. Watch out, McCord. Watch out. I don't know if Jordan Love is playing or not. I think that still has it kind of been. It's been speculated, but I don't think it's been officially confirmed.

Starting point is 00:24:33 So, like, if he doesn't play, obviously Tyrod Taylor is probably going to be starting, right, at this point. So, but then there's going to be a lot of McCourt. So if you're the last name's McCord, watch out. Broncos pass rush is coming after you. Okay, I'm going to go with the takeaway trend here once again. Denver is going to have at least two takeaways. And obviously, it plays into yours as well, right? They get strip sacks.

Starting point is 00:24:53 Like, that increases those opportunities. But I'm going to say the Broncos come away with two interceptions. here in this game here tonight. I think Chris Abrams Drain is going to come along with an interception. And then I'm going to go through and say, Miles Scott, the Bronco seventh round safety, is going to get a late interception here in this game. That's going to be my bold prediction here.

Starting point is 00:25:14 I can't wait for the regular season so we can do some of these things as well, just like with the 53 men roster. But I think it's fun right now in the preseason to get into that. But that's kind of where I stand right now. Two interceptions, one by Chris Abrams Drain and one by Miles Scott. I like that. We haven't really gotten much in terms of like Miles Scott updates this offseason, right? J.L. Skinner made a couple of nice plays in last week's game.

Starting point is 00:25:37 Almost had an interception. Yeah. And I had a big hit at one point as well. I want to see more Miles Scott. I want to see the receiver skills translating to the safety position. And I'm starting to really agree with what you had been saying earlier this offseason two about Tyson Anderson. Now that we're kind of on a, I've taken us down a safety, safety tangent here. Tyson Anderson stock kind of down for me after that first preseason game.

Starting point is 00:26:02 So I'll be excited to see Miles Scott. I'll throw in a bonus bold prediction for the special teams, Cody. I'm going to say, give me a Cameron Ross return TD. I mean, if you're already filling out the bingo card with a wish list, I'm going to say, give me a Cameron Ross return touchdown. I don't know if it's going to be kickoff or punt. It doesn't matter. We're just going to say a return TD.

Starting point is 00:26:25 I would love to, I'm trying to manifest it as much as I am. predicting that it's going to happen. But I would love to see, remember we talked about that, this offseason, you never know if one of these undrafted rookies is going to change the roster equation because a big play like that, preseason or not, helps change the roster equation for a guy. I think Cameron Ross, having a return touchdown would reshuffle everybody's 53-man roster predictions right now. All right.

Starting point is 00:26:50 Since we're giving special teams bold predictions now, and I like that one, man. We really like, there's bold, right? It's like the laundry, you know, low, high, whatever may be. We're turning it all the way up here on today's episode of show. I'm going to say the Broncos aren't going to punt much in this game, but they're going to probably punt maybe twice. That's the goal. Jeremy Croshaw is going to have a 65 plus yard punt in tonight's game.

Starting point is 00:27:16 If we're really turning up the hype machine on bold predictions, that's where I'm going here. So with that said, Broncos country, leave us your bold predictions. give us an offensive one, a defensive one, and a special teams one.
