Yes, we love a victory Monday.
We'll break down how the Broncos won their 10th straight game on Sunday
against the Las Vegas Raiders and also go through RJ Harvey's big breakout performance
and Bo Nix's complete command of the Broncos' offensive.
of operation on top of that.
We'll go through the Broncos defense and we'll hand out our game balls to several key players,
including Marvin Mims, who came up big in Sundays when you get all out on today's episode
of the show, brought to you of our friends over there at Fandul.
And if you want to be right in the middle of the action this season, visit Fanduil.com

Sir, look, 11 to 2, the Broncos, they've won one more game than they won all of last year,
another winning season here for Sean Payton and company.
And the Broncos keep climbing the ladder.
as they now take over that top spot inside the AFC, and they dominated.
I know the score doesn't say that in terms of 24 to 17.
It's a one score game there.
This really wasn't a one score game.
The Broncos dominated this really from start to finish.
Yeah, it was 24 to 7 when it came time for Kenny Pickett to take over and get a little
garbage time action there.
And obviously the Broncos defense softened up a little bit, which we don't love to see that.
But you know what you're right.
It was a dominating effort by this Broncos team.
in all phases of this game that felt like a, okay, we can breathe.
I was making peanut butter and jelly toast during the game, Cody, because you know we work
hard after the game.
So you got to get a little, you know, a little fuel in there.
But I'm not making peanut butter and jelly toast during games like the commander's game or
like the last Raiders game that was played, right?
I ain't eating anything because I'm sick to my stomach over watching this team kind of
struggle to a win.
This was not like that at all.
It started by the offense, setting the tone.
from the very beginning, right?
A 14-play touchdown drive that ended with a brilliantly executed,
designed quarterback run to Bo Nix.
Man, it just felt like everything that we wanted to see from this offense.
Bo Nix consistently improving week after week, the running game, getting going.
The Broncos really set a tone in this one, and you mentioned it.
This win, it was so big because it was their 10th straight win,
their 11th win of this season.
And effectively, it was that tiebreaker that we've been talking about,
with the New England Patriots to ultimately put the Broncos in that number one spot in the
AFC.
Well, and that's all because what things that we've wanted to see, right, a balanced run game
from the offense.
Really, I'd say the offense is the story of this game here for the Broncos winning and obviously
going to 11 and 2.
You mentioned the run game.
I know we're going to talk about RJ Harvey,
him having a really big breakout game against the Raiders in this game.
But I want to talk about real quick, the command of Bo Nix and what he had on this
offense here, obviously on the afternoon.
And finished the game 31 of 38.
But just like the thing with Bow that stood out to me,
Sarah, he's looking, he's scanning, he's seeing the field really well.
And he even said it in his postgame press conference that he feels like the last
couple of games, he's seen the field well.
But man, he was in a rhythm.
He was decisive.
He was quick.
If the defense was taking away a deep opportunity, he knew exactly where he was going to go.
He attacked almost every level of field.
Some shots downfield, the middle of the field, the short of the intermediate.
Bow was efficient in this game here.
He didn't finish with a passing touchdown,
As you mentioned, that quarterback design there, as the Broncos opened up with a 14-play drive
and punched it in with a touchdown, it took nine minutes and 13 seconds off the clock.
I felt like Bowes commanded the offense on three drives in particular, set the tone for this game,
and we talk about time of possession.
39 minutes compared to the Raiders 20.
This was led by Bo Nix and Arjah Harvey.
It really was, and it starts with Bo Nix, right?
Because he's the quarterback of this team.
And of course, the Broncos still threw the ball, 38.
times, although they did have that balance that we've wanted to see. It was Bo Nix,
orchestrating this offense to near perfection. Like you mentioned, Cody, seven third down
conversions, a fourth down conversion in this game. The offense was on time. They were ahead of the
sticks on early downs. The playbook was open on pretty much every second down play. They dug themselves
out of holes that they got into when they did have penalties offensively. It was, you know,
not the 40 plus point performance like we saw against Dallas,
but at the same time,
I think a different form of offensive dominance, right?
When you have a 39 minute to, what is it,
21 minutes time of possession,
advantage over your opponent,
you are effectively dehumanizing your opponent.
You're saying,
hey, your defense can't get us off the field,
no matter what we do out here.
So it was matriculating down the field,
converting in short-yarded situations,
getting ahead of this Knicks up first down.
Like it might not have necessarily been the fireworks that we saw from,
you know,
the Rams or even from the Broncos earlier this season against Dallas,
but it was one of those games that was exactly what we had all been asking for
in terms of that balance for the offense.
And it started with the quarterback.
100%.
You mentioned third down.
Like one of the biggest keys you mentioned in our preview show early on the week,
you know, on Friday show was the red zone has to be better.
Denver was two of three in the red zone.
this game here, obviously against the Raiders.
That's exactly where it needs to be.
Third down, they were so much better.
And they had good balance because of their efficiency running the ball on first down,
second down.
They were seven of 12 on third down.
You'll take those numbers any time of the day here.
You mentioned the time of possession here.
Sarah, look, I see some people saying, oh, it's 2417.
The Broncos, they only won by seven points.
Stop trying to diminish a victory.
Stop trying to diminish the Broncos doing good because I think people want to see them win pretty.
Like, yes, would it be nice to see them win 44 nothing or 35 to 7?
Sure, absolutely.
But what does that do for you, right?
That doesn't really make a difference in the end of the day.
You're finding a way to win games.
And this wasn't one where you were sweating at all.
You mentioned making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on toast.
I'm sitting there, it's like, my feet are kicked up.
I'm actually enjoying the game.
My game story that I'm typing from Milehysports.com.
It's flowing effectively.
And it gave me a lot of things like, hey, we're going to have so much great things to talk about.
because Denver, they're 11 and 2 folks,
atop of the AFC, and deservedly so.
There have been people trying to diminish victories all year long with this team,
but you know what?
Winning is winning, 11 and 2.
That says a lot about this Broncos football team,
and they never trailed a single moment in this game against the Raiders.
But Sarah, let's talk about RJ Harvey.
Man, what a game from him.
And I thought in this game in particular against the Raiders,
against Max Crosby, I felt like they proved a few narratives about him wrong,
and he shined.
23 total touches, obviously 100 yards from scrimmage and the touchdown that he had in this game,
which was one of those converted red zone opportunities that you mentioned.
And by the way, has RJ Harvey not been awesome in the tight red zone,
whether it's as a runner or a receiver this year, man, he's been great in those situations for the Denver Broncos.
Now up to nine total touchdowns on the season.
He's closing in on double digits there, folks.
But I think more importantly, we saw the full arsenal of his skill set on,
in this game when it comes to running the ball outside the tackles, between the
tackles, breaking tackles, eluding defenders, creating offense when should have been a
negative play. The Jamal Adams play, Cody. I've said it a number of times already as we've
been talking about this game. Man, that play was so awesome from RJ Harvey to see him keep his
balance, keep the play alive, go pick up a first down. That is what you expected from a guy like
this, not necessarily every time, but a game changing play from a second round running
back. And RJ Harvey responded to the call. I love what we saw from him in this game.
I feel like this is going to be as important as it is for us to all see this.
Just think about from RJ's perspective how important of a launching off point this is for his
confidence going forward. Yeah. And that's huge too because he's going to be shouldering the
load, so to speak here offensively. I mean, there's times too. He's lowering his shoulder and you're
hearing like the contact on screen. It's like, wow, like RJ just ran through somebody's face.
You know, Marshall Lynch had a better quote, but I can't say.
that here on air. But I'm loving what we're seeing from him. But I also, I loved what we saw from
the Broncos run game and Sean Payton's approach here where it wasn't just RJ Harvey. Look, he was the,
the primary guy, but Jalil contributed on the ground. Tyler Badeh contributed. Bo Nix was using his
legs in this game. And shout out to Adam Prentice as well, an 18 yard run on a fullback give.
Like this was just that performance. It's like, all right, hey, the run game, this is the formula
here for this Broncos team. If their defense can play how they have been through the first
11 weeks of the season, they can run the ball the way that they did.
And they can more importantly control the time of possession.
And Bowdox plays with the command of the offense, the way that he did in this game against
the Raiders.
This is the formula for this team winning the Super Bowl here.
11 and 2 Broncos country.
It's a big win no matter how you cut it just because of the fact you got to keep stacking
as the schedule gets a little bit tougher here for the Broncos.
But they surpass last year's win total and they have their eyes set on something much higher.
And that's a Lombardi trophy here.
But Broncos Country, coming up here on today's episode of the show,
we're going to talk about the Broncos defense.
They bent, but they didn't break, but there's still some blemishes.
We've got to talk about the Broncos will highlight their performance against the
Raiders here on today's episode, Locked on Broncos.

We're going to talk about why the defense bent a little bit too much against the Las Vegas Raiders.
They did shut down Ashton Genti, but there was a little bit too much going on on the back end and coverage for our liking in this game.
We're going to break down exactly what happened, but we have something very exciting to share with you today.

Cody, let's talk about the defense and let's talk about how they bent a little bit
against this Raiders team.
Obviously, you know, not a perfect performance, but they did come through in big
spots, right?
When the Broncos pinned them deep, they came through with a big stop, set up the Marvin
Mims, punt return touchdown.
Huge play in this game.
And it really started with that defense making the plays that they needed to make.
They got the pass rush on, seven quarterback hits.
Still, it felt like a little too much bending in this.
game from the defense. What was your takeaway while you watch this one? Yeah. And look, it's nothing
bad. I think when we talk about the defense, I think some people are like, well, the Broncos one,
why are you guys complaining? We're not complaining. We're just saying, hey, like the Broncos defense,
they bent. They didn't break at times, but there were some concerns that we had here. And we're going
going to obviously highlight all that, the good, the bad, the in between because that's what we do
here at lockdown Broncos. I just think it was for two weeks in a row there. We've seen the defense get
off to a little bit of a slow start, right? They eventually got it going, which obviously you
talk about Marvin Mims touchdown. They had the Broncos defense. They sent pressure after
Gino Smith. They smothered and they did a great job with that. They shut down Ash and Genti. We'll
get into that. But they're just giving up some big plays, not necessarily on third down. We're
talking about first down, second down. They gave up a big fourth down play, obviously, in Sunday's
game. There's too many guys wide open. There's too many explosives in the passing game across the
middle of the field, I'd say, for my liking. And some of that could just be great execution
by the opposing offense. Some of it seems to be some miscommunication stuff that's obviously
been impacting Denver coming out of the bye week where they have, I'd say,
taking a little bit of a step back, right?
It's not necessarily a big step.
But I think it's something that throughout the entire game,
I don't know what your mentions were like,
but I had some Broncos fans reaching out to me,
using the everyday air club as well to text me and say,
hey, what's going on with the defense?
And in my head, I was thinking, I just think that they're keeping everything from
the, they're bending a little too much versus being a hyper-aggressive team
that we saw through the first 11 weeks.
And we certainly saw that.
I mean, but I think the game plan here, Sarah,
was them to come out and shut down Ashton Genty.
They did that.
They held them to 30 yards on 10 carries,
but they gave up something obviously in this game
that we haven't seen all year long,
an opening drive touchdown.
14 weeks into the season,
this is first time.
Like, that's incredible by Denver's defense.
But the red zone issues once again popped up here for the Broncos,
who were previously the number one ranked red zone defense.
Not to sound like we're nitpicking.
The Broncos defense got enough stops,
but just some of those things I think concern you
as you look ahead to the Packers coming to town.
Some of the things that I was hearing from folks, Cody, was like,
what do you want them to get a sack on every single play?
Or do you want them to break up every single pass?
And I think that's not necessarily where I'm coming from.
It would be nice.
Yeah, I would love to see that.
No, I would love to see, you know, more turnovers being forced.
And I know that you can't just say, hey, go force turnovers.
And they just automatically happen.
But what I do think I would like to see is not an abandonment of what's made your
defense so great all year on the first drive of the game,
especially after your offense went down the field, 14 plays, got you a touchdown to start this game.
Go be aggressive, right?
And we saw that when they did pin the Raiders deep on that, you know, the plays right before the Marvin Mims touchdown return, right?
We saw advanced Joseph sending guys on the blitz.
We saw them getting aggressive.
We saw nearly a pick six from Zach Allen on.
I think it was Justin Sernod came on a blitz that really affected Gino Smith.
And he threw the ball right at Zach Allen.
that's the identity of this team.
That's what's made them so great all year long.
They did not do that against the commanders.
They were very conservative against the commanders, in my opinion, Cody.
And I think when we saw them finally get back to that,
we saw them dominate for a stretch of this game where they knocked Gino Smith out of the game,
twice as a matter of fact.
He got his hand all cut up.
He got his shoulder hurt.
And I think he was hurt in the first matchup between these two teams as well.
So, I mean, the Broncos got to the Q.
seven quarterback hits, Nick Benito out of parisacks in this game,
John Franklin Myers, Malcolm Roach, like everybody's getting involved.
The whole party is there, right?
Everybody's at the party, meet me at the QB,
but it's those bending moments in the game that they just like,
that's the type of stuff that, yeah,
you want to see them pitch a shutout if possible,
but you realize it's not always going to happen.
You just, you want to see them give a better effort
when the offense is doing its part.
Yeah, no, I agree with you.
And look, I think Denver was much better.
on third down this week. They held them to three of nine when they were in those situations.
And I felt like they buckled down. But I think the main concern and I think the frustration
was obviously how they started, which was a slow start. They adjusted. They got back to who they
were. And then I think late. Look, Denver's up what, 24 to 7? And then all of a sudden,
the approach kind of changed a little bit where it's like, we're just going to play a little bit more
off coverage. We're going to play a little softer. They gave up, I think, a 15 yard.
Catch on second and 15 that moved the chains for, for a first.
and then they gave up a 25-yard catch, then they gave up a touchdown,
and then obviously a late field goal to make the score look closer and did.
This was a dominant win for the Broncos, and it was a nice win.
I think for us, like, we're just talking about the defensive concerns.
We're not saying like, oh, my gosh, like we're worried about the defense.
We're like, no, it's just like I say any concern or question is rooted in getting away from their identity,
whereas you stick to with the identity, it's going to work.
But the conservative approach, I think, is where we're just like, hey,
I understand there's times to be conservative.
but in this game it just felt like the defense at times was too conservative
to give some garbage time yards and obviously garbage time points.
Yeah, and to Kenny Pickett, you know, coming in ice cold.
And thankfully, they didn't give up any points when he came into the game at first
when the Raiders were all the way down in the tight red zone, right?
I mean, Pat Sertan made a great play in coverage there to get the Broncos defense off the field.
So you made him look like the backup quarterback right when he came into the game.
And then all of a sudden, after that, yeah, it was, I was,
I was expecting like, all right, we're finally going to get a strip sack here.
We're finally going to get an interception.
Like, once again, I know that you can't just say those things and they happen.
But, man, we ordered these interceptions weeks ago at this point.
We need to see them start manifesting here for the Denver Broncos.
We're waiting for the waiter to come to the table with a pick six here for the Broncos defense,
which it's coming, man.
I feel it.
I mean, so many different guys have had shots out of this year.
Literally, Jada, Barron, have one taken off the board.
So I think that, look, that's, that's my gripe with this defense right now is not a,
hey, they're not good enough to win a championship.
It's they're better than what we saw on Sunday.
I think they're better for sure than what we saw against the commanders.
Like that commander's game was the worst game they played this year, in my opinion.
I think that they're so much better and they're capable of so much more dominance that we hold
them to that standard, right?
And that's the same with the offense.
That's why we've been saying, like the offense is capable of.
more. They can do more. They can do more in the running game. Bo Nix can be better. And sure enough,
they've turned it around. So I'm expecting nothing less out of the defense. You know what I love
from the defense in particular on one key series? Like I felt like Sunday's win was complimentary football,
offense, defense special teams. But I loved when the Broncos got that goal line stop, right? Fourth and
goal, pass or tan breaks at the past. Like, why are you trying PS2 anyways? Silly mistake there by Kenny
Pickett. But then Bo Nix and then they go down and they what? They lead. Was it a 19? Was it? Was it a
team play 90 yard drive that ended up in a score that took 10 minutes off the clock that right there
is the formula for this team to win a Super Bowl and Broncos country certainly should be excited about
that here Broncos country we're excited it's a victory Monday the Broncos they are 11 and 2 and we're
going to hand out our game balls we're going to give one out on the offense defense and

The Broncos get their 11th victory of the season, but their 10th straight in dominant fashion
over the Las Vegas Raiders.
out our game balls here on today's episode of the show, Sarah.
And obviously, Broncos country, as you are getting a chance to check this show out,
make sure you chime in and give us your game ball recipients, give us one on offense,
defense, and one special teams player.
Let's go with the offensive side first, Sarah.
Where are you going to start out here?
Because I feel like there were a handful of guys that certainly contributed in this game,
certainly some guys that we've talked about, or is there a wild card in your mind?
You know, I'm going to start off with the low-hanging fruit for me, Cody.
It's R.J. Harvey, right?
I mean, we've talked about it.
He had a great game, 100 yards from scrimmage, finally proving, hey, I can be that every down back that you are looking for out there with J.K. Dobbins injured.
That's been the big question mark, hasn't it?
I mean, with J.K. Dobbins going down, who's going to shoulder that load?
And I don't know that many people really had a lot of faith that R.J. Harvey was going to be able to do it.
Well, 75 yards on the ground, a rushing touchdown in the tight red zone, his ninth total touchdown of the season, 100 yards from scrimmage, showing what he can do after.
contact, showing what he can do between the tackles, grinding out tough yardage,
it's dragging Max Crosby even at one point.
Man, Cody, I think RJ Harvey, he's got to get one of these game balls from me.
I love that.
I think that's a great game ball recipient.
I'm sure 75, maybe 80% of Broncos fans would give RJ1 as well.
I'm going to go with Bo Nix in this game, right?
Just because of his command of the offense, I just felt like from Bo this was decisive.
Sarah, you know, like, Bo is a gunslinger.
We know that.
And I think a lot of people have been frustrated throughout the course of the season because Bo will try some things.
I felt like Bo was accurate.
He was quick and he was decisive.
He was fast.
And more importantly, he was his ball place a bit seemed like it was top tier.
I mean, he even almost connected on a hell Mary at the end of half with a high ball where you needed it to be.
There was a past to Cortland Sutton.
It was just a perfect window.
You know, ultimately you wanted that to end in a touchdown.
But the spot was perfect considering where the safety was right there.
I'm going to give a game ball here to Bo Nix.
I'm going to hand that to him, 31 of 38,
2212 yards, passing one rushing touchdown.
And I'll say this,
when you have a pass rating of 90 and you didn't throw a single touchdown,
it means you're doing something well.
Ball was in complete command of the offensive huddle.
I'm going to give one to him.
Let's shift to the defensive side of the ball, who you're going with.
On defense, it's a little bit tougher, I think, Cody,
because you've got to look at, okay, the overall picture of this game.
but how about a guy that I said is my player to watch right on Friday?
Zach Allen.
I know he maybe had dropped a pick six here.
I was texting you about that during the game.
But look, I'm going to go ahead and say three quarterback hits,
the pressure that he made on Gino Smith that ultimately resulted in,
you know,
one of the best plays defensively for the Broncos in this game.
I'm going to go ahead and say Zach Allen.
After I called out, you know, 99 as a player to watch going into this game,
he's going to get my game ball on the defensive side of the ball.
And maybe a little honorable mention, Cody, for the guy that you mentioned all the way back in segment one, Adam Prentice.
I mean, I know we're flipping back to the offensive side of the ball.
But Sean Payton's going to give the guy the ball.
Let's give him a game ball, right?
I mean, the 18-yard carry, right?
I love it.
The fullback, 46 out there.
If 46 is making plays against your defense, you got owned.
And the Raiders got owned in this game.
46 is out there making plays.
No disrespect to anybody who wears 14.
46 out there.
But if you're getting plays made on you by 46,
that offense had itself a day.
So game ball to Adam Prentice.
I can't think of any player right now on an active roster that has the number 46.
We might have to do some research.
If one of the every dares out there wants to do that, let us know.
Adam Prentice might be in his own category.
I agree.
The book of Prentice keeps riding itself.
I think he will get the honorary game ball from Broncos country.
That's a great choice.
Defensively, I'm going to give one to Nick Benito here.
Two sacks on the afternoon that now.
him up to 12 and a half sacks on the season.
Just another performance from Nick where, look,
there was a little bit of a, not a slump, I would say,
but teams focusing so much attention on him.
We were seeing other guys eat.
This was a game where Nick Benito came in and he dominated this game from the onset,
which was kind of cool because I don't know if he saw the clip,
but apparently on Friday after practice, when Nick goes home,
it's the day before they get ready to travel,
he's playing Fortnite with somebody and he's talking about the Raiders
and like this is a chance to rack them up.
That was a cool thing to see.
It went all over TikTok.
So I think maybe some people who have that probably saw that.
I'm going to give Nick Benito an honorary game ball here today.
I thought defensively he came up big.
That now moves us to special teams, which I feel like there are a couple of names that we could throw out there.
Cody, there are.
I mean, you know what?
This one's been bubbling beneath the surface for quite some time.
You and I discussed this late last week.
But, man, Jeremy Croshaw, he struggled with the shanks in the.
the first game against the Raiders, right?
They were calling him Jerry Croshank.
How about Croshank redemption in this game?
You called it.
His punt set it up, Cody.
His punt set up the biggest play of this game,
the swing play for Marvin Mims,
which I'm guessing you're going to be mentioning here.
But I got to go with Croshank redemption.
They didn't even give him the courtesy of calling him Jeremy.
We're getting Crohnich, Jerry.
You know what?
We're not even calling you by your real name.
That was the Croshank Apotamus game.
against the Raiders previously.
This was Croshank Redemption against the Raiders.
You pin them inside the five.
You set up your defense to do its job.
And then ultimately we saw what kind of impact that had on the game.
So Jeremy Croshaw, Cody, he's getting my redemption game ball on special teams today.
That led right to Marvin Mim's punt return touchdown.
He's going to be our special teams player of the game, 48 yards too.
And there was like this moment, Sarah, like the first moment, like obviously Denver took the ball to start the game.
Marvin gets blasted at the 19-yard line.
Like the Raiders did a really good job on their coverage there.
He gets blasted.
But then he catches it.
The defender kind of wraps him up up top.
But then he like,
he ducked his head underneath PJ locks throwing blocks.
Devin Keyes throwing blocks.
J.L. Skinner's throwing blocks on the punter to spring him up the sideline here.
Marvin is going to get the final game ball.
And I just felt like, Sarah, this was one of those games where Devere did what they should
against an opponent that they should have.
And while the score may have been 2417,
this game was not even close.
And I think if anyone's freaking out about this game,
go watch something else because the Broncos,
they're 11 and 2.
They're winning games.
Stop trying to nitpick or poke holes in something that they did well.
The goal is to win games.
It doesn't matter if you win by 40.
It doesn't matter if you win by 1.
Winning is winning.
